Romantic Pogue Thoughts.

Pogue issuch an old fashioned romantic. Always picks you up before a date and he doesn't just drive you home, he walks you right up to the door and opens it for you; gives you his jacket when it's chilly out; pulls out a chair for you; just a total gentleman at heart. Honestly, Pogue makes other guys look like losers compared to him, he's just that good and barely has to try to do it.

He takes things slow, even before you’re dating, but that’s just his way. Pogue wants to be careful with the partner he chooses, knowing how important this is., and at first, he just thought you were cute. Flirted a little bit, stole lingering glances when you weren’t looking, thought about you a lot, it takes a while to finally make a move. But when it got to the point he was having dreams about you and getting pissed when some other guy hit on you, Pogue figured this was more than a crush and asked you out. And he was so smooth about it too, driving up on his bike while you were walking home one day and telling you that you really should go out with him sometime.

"Like a date?"

"Yeah, like a date," he replied. "Dinner, dancing, all the classics."

And it's sort of the best date ever, Pogue walking you home that night, holding your hand all the way. He didn't kiss you at first, even though he wanted to, leaving you at the door and wishing you a goodnight. But halfway down the drive, he thought, fuck it. So he turned around, pulled you into his arms, and kissed you the way he'd been dreaming of for weeks. Now he gets to kiss you every day and he takes full advantage of that

Pogue is SO supportive. Giving a presentation in class? He'll purposely ask a perfect question that allows you to expand on a certain topic (and if he can't be there, he'll get one of his friends to do it). Got a game or event of some kind? He's right there, giving you a kiss for good luck. Pogue has read your favorite books, listened to the bands you like, knows everything about you and loves it all.

Very touchy, very affectionate, he always has to be touching you to some degree. Playing with your hair, stealing a kiss, holding your hand, an arm around your shoulders or waist, pulling you onto his lap. The coven teases him for it, especially Caleb, but he couldn't care less.

"Dude, how about you two get a room?"

"Hey, how about you get a life?"

He wears thick silver rings, some plain and some with designs and at some point, he accidentally leaves one with you. When you try to give it back, he tells you to keep it and calls it a "promise ring." It's too big for you to wear it on your hand, so you keep it on a chain around your neck and he loves that. The way the silver shines against your skin, the ring falling just between your breasts...always kissing your neck, playing with the chain, tugging you closer, the man is OBSESSED.

Some idiot hits on you right in front of him, to the point of trying to touch you, only for you to slap his hand away as he calls you a cunt. Pogue isn't even going to waste magic on this bitch, no, he handles this the old fashioned way: takes him outside, beats the hell out of him, and makes it clear what's going to happen if the guy ever looks at you funny. Then Pogue turns around and returns to you, promising that the bastard won't dare do it again.

He keeps a few pictures of you around at all times. One in his wallet, some on his bedroom mirror and in the garage, where he keeps his tools, a few more in a box where he keeps mementos of your relationship.

Pogue likes to write. Horror stories, mysteries, and historical fiction mostly. It's something not a lot of people know about him (he's pretty private) but he's actually a really talented writer and lets you read his stuff later in the relationship. And when you tell him how much you like it and how certain you are that he'll be published one day, he can't stop himself from smiling like an idiot. He will be published one of these days and his first book is dedicated to you, of course.

Very overprotective of you, to the point where you have to call him on it. Pogue cannot help it, the feeling comes naturally to him, but he does recognize that he can be overbearing at the worst of times and works on that.

Pogue struggles to open up, he's the kind of man who keeps his cards close. But by doing so, he pushes you away and calls it protection, his actions nearly costing him your relationship. Once he sees this and realizes how much he loves you, Pogue will finally tell you everything.

Loves seeing you in his clothes, especially his jacket around others (it's like he's claiming you with a silent mine) and his oversized t-shirts in private, when you stay the night with him. You used to bring your own clothes when you stayed over but they always seemed to vanish (hmmm, I wonder why) so you just gave up.

If you have a job, he WILL show up and very sweetly bother you. Waitress at a local place? He and the coven are there at least a couple times a week, Pogue flirting the whole time and leaving a massive tip (he also punishes any and all patrons who are rude to you and the rest of the staff because fuck that noise). Helping out at the school library? Well, he just so happens to be studying and could you help him find this particular book in a dark, quiet, perfect for making out the corner of the library? He'll be certain to reward you for it.

Calls you every night before bed just to hear your voice. Pogue loves your voice, the way you say his name, whispering as to not wake anybody up, smothering laughter when he says something sweet. It's his favorite ritual and he honestly can't sleep without it. The day you move in together and he gets to hold you and talk to you every night, my god, he's just in heaven.

Loves to take you on long bike rides out to some pretty place, quiet and peaceful. It's just the two of you, hiding from the whole damn world and being so, so in love and that's how he likes it.

Pogue is the first guy you brought home that your dad actually liked (mostly because he grew up with Mr. Perry and thinks well of him) and he's so smug about that. Wins over the whole family in a single night and comes over a couple times a month for dinner, always clears the table and helps with the dishes. Reid calls him a dork for this, but Pogue just points out that NONE of Reid's "meet the parents" moments have ever gone well and maybe there's a reason for that.

He shows you his magic through something beautiful: snow in the summer. You love snow and, wanting to ease you into the strangeness, he makes something he knows you'd like. At first, Pogue is so afraid that you'll still be scared, that you'll reject him. But all you do is kiss him, snow melting between your lips and making everything okay...maybe that's your sort of magic.

"I love you, Pogue..."

Pogue stresses a lot and you see that. You're always there for him, always comforting him and listening to him vent, taking up for him when others talk trash behind his back. And he loves that about you, loyalty is something he deeply values.

Pogue knows he wants to marry you about a year and a half into the relationship. Something went down and, instead of being afraid, you had remained by his side the whole time, his rock in the tempest of everything. And in that moment, he knew he wanted to marry you, buying a ring in secret and holding onto it until the time was right and he knew it was what you wanted to. And after that…

Happily ever after.

So, because I didn’t have quite enough Christmas asks from readers, I decided to pad out the missing days with some fun prompts that weren’t used for some of my lesser loved fandoms! I hope you all will enjoy these headcanons for The Covenant – a so bad it’s good film masterpiece that I will always love.

What are their favourite winter activities?

So, first off, I do believe that all of the boys do know how to ski or snowboard. I really do see Reid, Tyler, Pogue, and Caleb all heading to a local ski place to snowboard together, really making a day of it. It’s something they all enjoy, especially since there’s always a little bit of competition to it between them all.

Pogue’s the one who likes winter the least. He’s not a big fan of the cold and he’s especially not a fan of the ice and snow. It means putting away his bike for the season and it’s something he dreads every year. However, there is one perk that does come with the snowy winter season and that’s snowmobiles. They’re not as good as his bike but they’re almost there. He loves heading out, either with friends or by himself, often spending hours out snowmobiling, seeing just how fast he can go. If he’s driving by himself, he might take a lot more risks in his driving, finding fun in the thrill of near misses, than he will with someone with him.

Caleb’s favourite winter activity is something he’d be a little embarrassed to admit. He really likes building snowmen and playing in the snow. He kind of misses when they were all young enough to still want to build snowmen, to have snowball fights, and to just dick around out in the snow. Now the winters seem colder, no one has snow pants, making snowmen is considered uncool. Still, he builds one himself up by his parents, since the boys don’t go up there often except for Pogue, who won’t really make fun of Caleb for having built one like Reid would do. He does, however, manage to instigate a snowball fight with the others every year, despite them claiming they hate them. He’s got a great arm and once one of the others get hit by a well-timed snowball in the back of their head or to their butt, Caleb knows they just can’t resist.

Tyler has a weird one, but since he’s started driving, he really finds that he likes long winter drives. He doesn’t want to drive in a full white-out blizzard or anything, though he knows he could, but a drive on a quiet winter day, with light snow coming down? It’s wonderful to him. There’s something calming and beautiful, in his mind, with the white flakes hitting the windshield, hearing the sound of the car’s tire’s crunching over the snow, heated seat nice against his legs, maybe some low Christmas music coming from the radio, just driving to nowhere in particular as he watches the world slowly get coated in white. Top it up to a stop at some random diner he discovers for a meal and he’s in heaven.

Reid’s parents have a hot tub that they maintain all year long and one of his favourite things in winter is to get in the hot tub. While it is protected by a roof and two walls (there’s sliding glass doors leading from the house to this enclosure that make up the back wall), he likes the contrast of the hot water and jets relaxing his muscles and warming him up with the cool air outside. It’s even better if he can manage to sneak a drink or two from the family’s well-stocked bar. Enjoying the hot tub with a stiff drink in hand, watching the snow fall and just relaxing? There’s nothing better.

Chase’s favourite part of winter? Escaping it, if at all possible, and travelling to somewhere warm. He’s a snowbird at heart and winter is best celebrated in places like Florida, in his mind.

🎂 - do you have any special birthday celebrations you partake in every year?

I did this one up for my polyship with Tyler and Reid from The Covenant. The truth is that I actually struggle a lot with my birthday every year, though its gotten a bit better over the years. I really do rely on self-ships and such to keep my spirits up and make me feel like the day might even be something semi-close to being even marginally celebrated.

When I think of our relationship, when I think of me, Tyler, and Reid as a couple, I do think birthdays are celebrated. Unlike with my own, I’m super passionate about celebrating each of their birthdays. I do everything I can to make sure that each of their days is celebrated in different ways though, because each of the boys are so different. We all compliment each other really well, but just at their cores, both Reid and Tyler are different and like different things for their birthdays.

Reid loves having his birthday be a huge thing. He’s someone who craves attention and excitement. He wants that big birthday party. He starts hinting, about a month in advance, how nice it would be if someone were to throw him a surprise party. He hints about gifts he’d like. Of course, me and Tyler pick up on his hints…it’s pretty damn impossible not to and we work together on planning out a big party for him. If Reid’s on at least semi-decent terms with anyone, they get invited. To Reid, the bigger a party, the more people to adore him and celebrate his birthday, to make him the center of attention, the better. However, because we want to celebrate him in a more personal manner, we make the party in the evening. We take the day and make it all about him. We wake him up with morning sex and then a long hot shower together. After that, Reid gets to relax completely while we make him breakfast. We take him out for the day after that. We head up to Salem. Reid’s a big fan, for some reason we will never understand, of Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery so we check that out, catch a late lunch at a resturant, check out the Misery Islands. Tyler makes up an excuse about needing something for Reid so that I can head back a little bit early, where I set up everything for the party, with the help of the other Sons and their partners. When Reid and Tyler do get back, he fakes (badly so) the surprise part of the surprise party but is incredibly happy to party way into the wee hours of the morning.

For Tyler’s birthday, he’s much more subdued in how he wants it celebrated. Since I figure he’s born in the winter months, probably December, it’s peak snowboarding season. We celebrate his birthday a little earlier with his parents, as he’s the one of us who is closest to their parents but for his birthday proper, he likes to get away for it. We pack the car and do the three hour drive up to Great Barrington’s ski resort, alongside Pogue, Caleb and their partners. We do a weekend get away up there for his birthday. It’s small, intimate and a ton of fun.

For my own birthday, it was actually really hard for them to figure out how I best wanted it celebrated. That’s because, when I first got into the relationship with them, I couldn’t communicate how I like it to be celebrated because I hated the thought of my birthday. It was an occasion that had never really been celebrated before and to me, just wasn’t worth the fuss. I preferred it to be treated like any other day, but the boys were not okay with that. They both tried, in their own preferred ways to celebrate my birthday, to varying degrees of success. Over time, it gets to be a mixture between the two of theirs – my birthday is celebrated with a lot of together time, a nice meal out, and then joining up with friends for something spooky and Halloweeny, given the time of year my birthday falls in.

♡ Hobbies for the Sons of Ipswich ♡ because I think they need some hobbies beyond warlock shit/being hot, you know?

Music and wood carving. There's always music playing with Caleb around, mostly rock. His grandfather liked to wood carve, said that it taught him patience and attention to detail, and he taught Caleb too. It helps with being a warlock, woods can be used to make talismans and things, but he mostly does it for himself...and for you, carving a little charm and hanging it from a charm bracelet for you.

Writing and mechanics. Pogue loves to write and hopes to one day be published. For now, he's mostly scribbling in notebooks (always with a dark blue pen, it's a tradition) and he always has a notebook and pen with him, just in case an idea hits him. Of course he loves working on his bikes and on cars too, music blasting in the garage and his tools everywhere as he gets to work, it's so relaxing and simple compared to everything else in his life.

Music and running. He's always listening to music, much like Caleb, but he dabbles in it too. Plays guitar and piano and writes his own songs (which no one has ever heard/read before), records them all on cassette tapes because he's old school like that. And running helps him clear his head, especially when he starts to lose his temper and get lost in it. That's actually how you meet, Reid blasting music as he runs, stumbling upon a pretty girl and her broken down car in the middle of nowhere.

Art and reading. Ty is a crazy talented artist, mostly in ink and charcoal sketches. But he also dabbles in painting (acrylic and watercolor) and a little in sculpting too. He has a habit of drawing/painting on everything, doodles covering his homework but no one minds. And he's always got a book with him, mostly historical fiction, sci-fi, horror, classics, and (secretly) romance. Pogue actually likes to read too as they're always sharing books.
