Go see blackkklansman!!!!

Blackkklansman was so good in so many ways. Spike Lee pulled no punches in showing the differences between black and white power. He made the movie incredibly relevant by using language that Donald Trump and the reinvigorated white supremists use nowadays. So many comparisons I likely missed and will have to rewatch. Unfortunatly, as a black woman this movie made me so frustrated, stressed, and angry that I felt I needed a brisk walk to calm my head before going home. I felt as if Spike Lee was actually punching me in the face with all that he displayed. I’ll definitely watch a fluffy movie before I rewatch Blackkklansman but I’m definitely going to have to see it a second time. A+ all around

Here’s the thing. 

If these people had just, like, shown up to protest the removal of that Confederate statue, fine. Whatever. They’d still be gross shitheads, but they’d be gross shitheads using their right of assembly and free speech. Whatever. 

But these neo-nazi white supremacist mother fuckers showed up in Nazi regalia, throwing up nazi salutes, shouting anti-Semitic slogans and “heil trump” with their fucking Walmart Tiki torches like the reject extras from Birth of a Nation. 

And you start waving around Nazi symbols, shouting nazi slogans, marching with fucking burning torches- you are trying to inspire FEAR. You are trying to terrorize others. You are a terrorist. 

  And last time I checked, free speech doesn’t protect terrorism.

the rioters/marchers cannot solely be called Nazis or the Klan because of these two facts

they were protesting the removal of Confederate statues

they were using the 14 words and saying things to indicate the destruction of Jewish people

these like. these are overlapping issues I’m gonna scream one of these days the Klan feels like Black people are inferior and should still be slaves & Nazis want to exterminate Jewish people

they’re! they’re white supremacists and they’re two forms of visible, violent white supremacists! 

I jokingly asked my brother what hybrid name we should use and they said “Klazis” which is fair but also please for the love of god this uprising violence is not a single issue problem because these people want Black and Jewish people fucking dead
