Lupin Advent Calendar Days 9-14
More Advent Calendar prompts from https://lupiniii.club Highly recommend folks look up the French Tradition of King's Cake - it's so fun, and Nova Scotia's Woody The Christmas Tree. You will not be disappointed. [ID: Black and white drawing with halftones. Text: Day 9 Coal Fujiko is in a deep sleep in the foreground as Lupin sneaks in behind her to swap her jewel encrusted necklace with a lump of coal. Lupin: Fujiko you've been naughty this year so I'll just be replacing these jewels. Black and white drawing with halftones. Text: Day 10 Warming Up Lupin and Jigen are snuggled up under a blanket together. Jigen has nodded off to sleep and Lupin is looking at him with a smile and a slight blush on his cheeks. Black and white drawing with halftones. Text: Day 11 Decorating A miniature pine tree is being decorated by four hands coming in from all sides. Lupin is wrapping a pearl necklace around it. Fujiko is putting a big diamond at the top. Jigen has attached wire to a bullet to include. And Goemon is fastening a Japanese fabric charm. Black and white drawing with halftones. Text: Day 13 Traditions Goemon is in the middle of eating his King Cake and a little baby figurine is poking out. Goemon looks startled. Goemon: There's... a baby in my dessert? Lupin, in the background, rushes in with a manic expression while holding a crown for Goemon. King's Cake is a common winter tradition for French folks, I recommend reading into it! Black and white drawing with halftones. Text: Day 14: Change of Plans Jigen is in just his button-up and looking at an electric thermometer. Jigen: Well, that's a fever, Lu. Looks like we'll have to skip our plans to steal Woody The Talking Christmas Tree. oh no.... Lupin is down on the bed with a red face and a wet cloth over his forehead. He's whining loudly. Lupin: AW MAN! /end ID]

── ❆ DAY 10: christmas with jackie taylor
— summary: christmas with jackie taylor hcs.
— warnings: fluff. established, secret relationship. gn!reader.
jackie, who insists on going out for fun christmassy couple’s activities.
ice skating with her is definitely a non negotiable, even if you can barely stand on the ice. jackie laughs every time you stumble, even though she’s always quick to steady you. but ice skating is just the beginning. jackie has lists -literal lists- prepared months in advance, detailing every festive activity she’s planned for you. the local christmas tree farm is a must and jackie also insists on a trip to the nearest outdoor holiday market. bundled up in scarves and gloves you stroll through stalls filled with handmade stuff and hot cider. she’ll make a point of buying matching mugs or a keepsake items for the two of you, calling it a tradition you’ll have to continue every year. and, of course, there’s always a visit to see the town’s christmas lights, where she uses the darkness to your advantage and slip her hand into yours without anyone seeing!
jackie who surprises you with a self made advent calendar.
she hands it to you on december 1st with a casual shrug, like it’s no big deal. “here,” she says, setting it in your lap as you sit cross-legged on her bed. “i, uh, just threw it together” you stare down at it in disbelief, your fingers brushing over the little numbered pockets of red and green, held together with tape and a surprising amount of glue. each one is decorated with glittery stickers or hand-drawn snowflakes. “jackie…did you make this?” her cheeks flush a soft pink as she waves you off. “It’s nothing fancy,” she says quickly “just some silly stuff. don’t make a big deal out of it, okay?”
as the days go on, you open each pocket to find thoughtful surprises: a mini nail polish in your favorite color, a tiny ornament for your tree, a packet of hot cocoa mix, and handwritten notes. by december 10th, you can’t hold back anymore. “jackie,” you say, holding up a little charm bracelet she included that day. “you’re spoiling me!” she just grins, leaning back against the pillows. “it’s christmas!”
jackie who hosts a little christmas dinner for everyone.
she’d be serious about it!! she would probably spend the weeks leading up to it coordinating everything down to the last detail, from the playlist to the “optional but highly encouraged” dress code. so, obviously, her ‘little’ gathering is nothing short of perfection. aside from you (the guest of honor), all the other yellowjackets are invited as well.
she’s wearing a red velvet dress that night, and every so often (when she’s not walking around like the perfect hostess, making sure everyone has a drink in hand and knows where to find the snacks) you catch her glancing at you with a soft smile, like she’s proud to show you off: her parents are out for the evening, leaving jackie in charge, which means the two of you don’t have to sneak around or pretend you’re just friends.
“you’re glowing,” you tell her teasingly, watching her as she flits back to you after ensuring that nat doesn’t leave her cigarettes out on the patio. “well, someone has to keep this party running smoothly,” she says with an affectionate eye roll.
later that night, when jackie drags you under the mistletoe she insisted on hanging in the doorway again, she grins: “house rules”
“your rules, you mean,” you reply, but you don’t complain when she kisses you, her arms looping around your waist while the others cheer and whistle.
jackie, who has clearly inherited her mother’s relentless enthusiasm for holiday pictures
it’s a trait that becomes impossible to ignore as soon as december rolls around. she insists on documenting everything, dragging you into photo after photo, no matter how much you groan about it.“come here!” she’ll call you to the living room. “we need a picture for my scrapbook!” you groan playfully. “didn’t we take enough already? i think you’ve got every angle of me covered!” jackie only huffs, grabbing your hand and tugging you closer. “nope! this is our first christmas together. i’m documenting everything!”
her grin makes it impossible to argue though, and soon enough, she has you standing in the exact spot she’s deemed perfect, nudging you this way and that. she even adjusts your sweater, smoothing the hem and brushing imaginary dust from your shoulder. she then retreats a few more steps, squinting through the viewfinder of her dad’s camera and you can’t help but laugh at how seriously she’s taking it.
jackie, who is absolutely obsessed with christmas movies.
she doesn’t bother to hide it, either: she loves a good, festive romcom, and she will make that everyone’s problem (but mostly yours, as she suggests the fourth movie night of the week). you’d never admit it but you do enjoy the nights where you’re curled up on the couch with jackie, secretly holding her hand under the covers as her mother sits with you two, completely oblivious to your relationship. when the credits roll, jackie suggests another movie with a cheeky smile, and despite yourself, you agree, settling deeper into the blanket with her warmth pressed close to your side. by the end of it, mrs. taylor has drifted off in her arm chair and you take full advantage of the moment, leaning in and placing a quick kiss to jackie’s lips.
but also: jackie who has a general obsession with everything christmassy during the season.
specifically holiday-scented everything: candles, lotions, soaps; if it smells like peppermint, cinnamon, or pine trees, she’s all over it. the whole enthusiasm borders on comical, especially when she’s dragging you into yet another store to sniff every single candle on the shelf. she will light her new candle as soon as you walk through her door, filling the space with the aroma of cinnamon. “smells joust like christmas doesn’t?” she asks as she waves her hand dramatically toward the flickering flame. you raise an eyebrow, suppressing a laugh. “it smells…like apples and cinnamon?”
“exactly!” she says, grinning like you’ve just proven her whole point.
jackie, who drags you to the family’s annual holiday dinner.
you love jackie to bits, but you can’t even pretend that you like the other taylors a whole lot: their relationship to jackie is already a difficult oneand you feel like her mom doesn’t like you very much 95% of the time. still, you’d rather keep her company and make the christmas dinner with countless relatives a little more bearable for her. the taylor family’s annual holiday dinner is everything you’d expect: elaborate, formal, and laced with an undercurrent of tension. jackie has been pulling her perfect daughter routine all evening, smiling politely as she answers questions about school, soccer, and college applications.
but you can tell it’s wearing on her; the slight stiffening of her shoulders every time someone brings up her plans for the future, the way her laugh doesn’t quite reach her eyes when her mom makes another “innocent” comment about her looks or her grades (“you really have to get new hobbies once you’re in college, jaqueline”, “when i was your age, jaqueline, boys didn’t want girls who did men’s sports”, “don’t slouch”, “don’t hold your arm like that” and so on and so on)
you’re already biting back the urge to yell at her from across the table when when one of her other relatives leans forward: “so, jaqueline, do you have a boyfriend yet?” you instantly feel her hand tighten around yours under the table. you jump in before she has to answer, steering the conversation in another direction. for the rest of the night, you stay close, offering quiet reassurances (a hand on her knee, a nudge of your shoulder against hers) to remind her that she doesn’t have to face any of this alone.
jackie, who refuses to decorate the tree without you.
once again, her mother doesn’t exactly understand why jackie’s “friend” has to be there for it, but then again, it means she won’t have to do it alone. you quickly realize that “helping” means following her mom’s precise instructions whilst mrs. taylor sits on the couch with a glass of wine and supervises the process. every ornament has a specific spot, every strand of tinsel must be perfectly draped. jackie rolls her eyes dramatically at her mom’s comments when she’s not looking: “a little more to the left,” “that one doesn’t go on the front, dear”. at one point, you nudge her with your shoulder as you both hang ornaments near the bottom of the tree. “watch this,” you whisper. then, you deliberately place a bright red ornament on the “wrong” branch, right in her mom’s line of sight. mrs. taylor gasps dramatically and immediately gets up to fix it, muttering something about “aesthetic balance.” jackie bursts into quiet giggles, hiding her face in your shoulder as her mom goes for a wine refill.
walks through the park with jackie.
the minute the first snow comes down and actually doesn’t melt right away, jackie insists on going on a walk. whether it’s early in the morning or the middle of the night. the snow crunches softly beneath your boots as you walk side by side. holiday lights twinkle from every tree, casting a warm glow on the fresh blanket of snow. “okay, picture time,” she says with a grin, pulling her gloves off and digging through her bag for the familiar camera. “again?” you grin at her teasingly. “yes, again” jackie deadpans, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. you roll your eyes but oblige, standing still while she fiddles with the camera.
“okay, say something cute,” she says, snapping a shot as you laugh in disbelief. “something cute?” you repeat, shaking your head. “exactly!” jackie lowers the camera and looks at the display, smiling to herself. “knew i’d catch it. this one’s going on my mirror at home!”
and: late night drives with jackie.
she always insists on riding shotgun, fiddling with the radio until she lands on a station blasting holiday hits. she taps her fingers against the door in time with the music, glancing out the window as you drive. “this neighborhood always has the best lights,” she says, watching the houses go by in a blur of bright lights. you chuckle, steering down the rows of snow covered lawns and christmassy displays. “are we rating them this year?” you ask knowingly. “obviously,” jackie deadpans, already leaning forward to peer at the first house on the block. the entire facade is dripping in twinkling icicle lights, and there’s an inflatable snowman in the yard. “hmm,” she muses, tapping her chin. “six out of ten. sweet, but their snowman is crooked!” you snort. “tough crowd”
the car fills with her commentary as you weave through the neighborhoods for the rest of the ride. you know why she’s so eager to be out tonight: her house, as picture-perfect as it looks from the outside, isn’t always the warmest place to be. you’d never bring it up, but you’re more than happy to keep driving until jackie is ready to head home. it’s long past midnight when you finally pull into a quiet spot just out of sight of her house. jackie stretches. “this was fun,” she says softly, looking over at you.
you glance at her. “you don’t have to go back just yet,” you offer, shifting into park. jackie grins, her confidence returning in a flash as she unbuckles her seatbelt and climbs into the backseat. “come on,” she says, tugging your hand with a teasing look. “don’t make me kiss you in the front like some amateur!” you follow her with a laugh, settling into the cramped but cozy space as she leans into you, her lips brushing yours softly at first, then deeper.
jackie, who takes gift wrapping very seriously.
she has a whole station set up with ribbons, bows, and fancy paper that’s set up on the dining table with precision. there’s even a ruler for cutting the paper to exact dimensions, because of course there is.
you watch her from across the table as she carefully folds the corners of a package. “are you sure you’re not secretly running a gift-wrapping business?” you ask. your own presents are never wrapped as neatly as jackie’s. she just grins, obviously pleased with herself as she smooths the edges with her fingernail. you lean over to peek at the package, only to be gently swatted away. “no peeking!” she exclaims, holding it protectively against her chest. “you’ll ruin the surprise!”
jackie, who loves surprises!
she makes you wait until midnight on christmas eve to open her gift. by then, she’s practically bouncing with excitement as you finally unwrap it, watching your reaction with an adoring smile. “okay, okay!” she’ll say, dragging you over to the tree. when she hands you the little box, you shake it gently and jackie instantly snatches it from you again. “don’t shake it! you’ll ruin the surprise!”
“fine, fine,” you laugh, holding your hands up in surrender. she narrows her eyes suspiciously before handing it back, her knee bouncing as she watches you carefully untie the ribbon. there’s a necklace inside, delicate, and similar to the heart charm jackie has got herself, only that this one got both of your initials engraved on the side that will rest against your collarbones jackie bites her lip, watching your reaction closely. “so you’ll have a reminder of me,” she explains softly, her voice unusually shy. “do you like it?”
“like it?” you echo as you lift the necklace carefully from the box. “jackie, i love it!” her face lights up. “here, let me put it on you,” she offers, her fingers brushing against your skin as she fastens the clasp behind your neck. when she’s done, you touch the charm gently. “it’s perfect,” you say, leaning in to kiss her softly. jackie beams, her cheeks a little pink as she pulls back to admire the necklace on you. “i knew it would look good on you,” she says.

NEW YEARS FIC REC: Below you will find fics that take place during the New Year, or have scenes that center around it.
📖 Mistletoe's For Two by @ireallysawanangel (90k)
After an encounter in a coffee shop with the rudest man he's ever met, Louis hopes the city is just big enough that he'll never bump into him again. When he spots that man at a bar the following evening, a plan begins to form. They both need dates for their respective Christmas parties and decide to use each other for their own benefit. They'll help one another through the holidays and then 'break it off' on New Year's, then agree to never see each other again. Developing feelings was not part of the plan. Or, an enemies to lovers fake dating advent fic.
📖 Home For The Holiday by @larrysmomfics (86k)
A "The Holiday" inspired AU where Harry meets Louis after agreeing to swap houses with a stranger on the internet for three weeks over the holidays.
📖 like cranberries on a winter evening by @evilovesyou (57k)
Louis hates Christmas. With good reason, too. And no, he doesn’t want to talk about it. When research for his next novel leads Louis to the website of a quirky little hotel in Northumberland, there is exactly one room available for the two weeks that Louis really wants to get away from his family. Will the fairy lights, kind smiles, homemade pastries, and genuine friendships awaiting him in Harry Styles’ hotel be enough to cause Louis a change of heart?
📖 Baby, Won't You Look My Way? by @peachbootylouis (50k)
Or the where Louis’ routine centered life runs like clockwork until a chance hook up throws a wrench named Harry into it all. But as it may turn out a change in plans could be what Louis has needed all along.
📖 Cabin Fever by @germericangirl (46k)
One cabin, one bed, two ex-boyfriends. What could possibly go wrong?
📖 silver lining, perfect timing by @stylesthebrave (22k)
For as long as they've been friends, the whole world has been saying Louis and Harry should get over themselves and date already. It takes an impromptu winter holiday for Louis to admit that everyone else might have been right all along.
📖 as in olden days by @scrunchyharry (18k)
Château Frontenac hotel, Christmas 1925 When his father insisted the entire family spend Christmas abroad in one of his new investments, Harry dreaded the prospect of being trapped for weeks in the biting Canadian cold, so far away from the roaring excitement of his London life. As he crossed half of the world to be buried under a thick blanket of snow, he never imagined he would meet a charming bellhop who would do his best to keep him warm.
📖 I Can Build Your Heart A Home by @loveislarryislove (10k)
Or, Harry and Louis kind of secretly sort of dated in high school. Now it's two years later and they're both back in town for Christmas and it's awkward. Until it isn't.
📖 promise not to fade away by @nobodymoves (10k)
Louis is an A&R rep, and Harry is a singer/songwriter. They meet on New Years Eve.
📖 It's Thursday. Let's Get (un)Dressed. by @bananaheathen (9k)
When Louis is peer-pressured into downloading TikTok over the holidays, he fully expects to hate it. And he does hate it. All of it. Well... except for aspiring OOTD influencer, @harrystyles.
📖 I want your midnights by @guccistrawberries (8k)
or It all starts with a harmless round of the name game
📖 Happy New Life's! by @outofmycistem (5k)
If everything would work out perfectly, in case it didn't already happen until this point, they would be out in exactly 10 years. With a simple tweet of a picture and a 3 sentence text. Because it's as easy as that and even if they would forget about it, which they swore they wouldn't, it wouldn't be that much of a deal anyways, right? Or, the one where Harry and Louis (more or less) accidently come out with a tweet they planned 10 years ago.
📖 Know What You Need by @absoloutenonsense (4k)
Harry always thinks he knows what he needs, but Louis knows better.
📖 Rapture by @allwaswell16 (3k)
It was New Year's Eve in Victorian London, and a lonely vampire could no longer resist the stunning lamplighter he watched night after night. Or, a vampire Harry fic because what says the holidays like Victorian vampires?
📖 this far from mediocre by @louisandtheaquarian & @zaynmaliksmiddlefinger (2k)
In this scene, Louis meets Zayn for the first time at an industry party on New Year's Eve that Liam is DJ-ing. Oh, and Harry shows up too.
📖 Stroke of Twelve by @larry-hiatus (2k)
Or the one where Louis wants Harry to hold off his orgasm so they can come together at the stroke of twelve on New Year's Eve.
📖 anything for you, gorgeous by @track-five (1k)
after a long night of new years celebrations, louis somehow manages to get his boyfriend home in one giggly, clingy piece.
📖 a taste of bliss by @beckydoesthings (1k)
It's New Year's Eve, and Louis is working. As much as he hates it, there's a few benefits to working a holiday. One is the free champagne. The second may or may not come in the form of a curly haired sous chef named Harry.

HP Rec Fest, Day 20
I almost didn’t get this post ready on time but here we are for another @hprecfest day and I love today’s prompt! Some fandoms like Drarry are strongly driven by shippy feels and it’s easy to overlook great Gen fics. I rarely read them, but the G and T fics I’ve enjoyed have left a big impression on me. After allowing myself to rec popular smutty series yesterday I’m very happy to share two underrated comfort fics!
Day 20) a fic rated G:
Drarry
Tidings of Comfort series by @blamebrampton (G, 10k)
When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. Luckily for Draco Malfoy, London has places where the tired can rest and recover.
BB is my go-to when I’m looking for top quality Gen fics - she’s written a total of 10 for HP and I can attest they’re all fantastic reads, charming, clever, creative and entertaining like few stories are. it was hard to pick just one but I chose by a) number of comments and b) Christmassy vibes. Tidings of Comfort (how brilliant is that title alone?) is an all-time favorite advent read when it comes to redemption arc. it has such a wistful evocative vibe, gorgeous religious refs and Draco and Harry’s voices are wonderfully mature and full of personality. their tentative reunion and existential conversations provide so much insight into their lives and background it’s crazy to think this series is just under 10k. I’m in love with the quiet and exploratory slow burn, cautious but full of promise; it becomes even more serendipitous due to the Christmas magic surrounding their encounter. a wonderful pre-slash read, sensitive and poignant, and a perfect treat for this holiday season!
Rare pair
Aftermath by @static-abyss (Harry/Ron, G, 2.7k)
A soulmate, Ron knows, is someone chosen, not destined.
my kingdom for a Rarry soulmate AU 😭 this trope fits the ship so perfectly and as always Ana kills me softly with the loveliest short fic. something about Harry’s tender longing for Ron hits me just right; his pov is very insightful and there’s a brilliant scene in which he analyses Justin that stayed with me for a long time (“He thinks of Sirius and his father, of how being raised in money makes it easy to believe that everything will always be taken care of” - what a quote!). I love his camaraderie with Ron and the way both romantic and platonic love are explored here - this fic gets into my favourite thing about Rarry which is the fact that Ron is “the first the first person Harry loved who loved him back.” I feel like that’s such a powerful yet overlooked aspect of their friendship and I love seeing it acknowledge here. the fic has also a creative take on Harry’s soulmark changing after the war which was really interesting and perfect angst material! I urge all Rarry lovers to go check this gem and give it a little love ❤️

Vampire Parents
Today we'll talk about Solstice's and Full Moon's parents who raised them to be strong and charming men
Solstice: Sungleam and Pargelius
Pargelius
Daytime vampire
Height: 210 cm - 6,89 ft
Pargelius is classic daytime vampire with excellent ability to charm and endear himself whether it's a prey or another vampire he knows for literally 10 minutes. He doesn't hesitate to use his skills at any opportunity but actually doesn't cross the line when it comes to his wife and family. Passionate and confident, he becomes soft and gentle next to his beloved, completely forgetting about all outsiders.
He served in the vampire army for a while, but after reaching a high status, he resigned. Now Pargelius helps his neighbors with hard work and his wife with gardening.
Sungleam
Daytime vampire
Height: 195 cm - 6,4 ft
Kind, loving mother and wife who also has fangs and claws to protect her family. But in most cases, she gives this role to her husband, admiring his strength. She was never doubted Pargelius's loyalty, calmly reacts to his behavior towards others, knowing that in the end she's truly dear to him.
Sangleam is gardener. She grows flowers, selling them as seedlings or picking bouquets. She's always looking for new seeds, sometimes wants to secretly buy them from humans, but doesn't take risks because of the laws.
Their relation to Solstice
Since childhood, Sungleam and Pargelius raised Solstice to be independent and responsive, allowing to decide what his future would be himself, even if they didn't fully understand his interests in books and humanity. Parents treats their children with care, fully providing them with everything they need (yes, Solstice has siblings, more than two, but about them sometime later). They respect his choice in feeding only donor's blood without violation, and before the advent of the Donor Organization, shared what they hunted themselves.
Immediately after announcement of his son's wanted list for violating the law, parents wanted to find and hide him, first finding out what he had done. But nothing was found in his old room or rented apartment, not even a note. They could only hope Solstice was in order and he wouldn't be caught by the guards.
Full Moon: Dawn and Crescent
Dawn
Daytime vampire
Height: 210 cm - 6,89 ft
It's hard to believe, but Dawn is really Full Moon's father. He's calm and gentle husband who loves his wife as tenderly as in the first days of their meeting. Dawn is from a poor family, unlike Crescent Moon, so the lady's father did not accept his daughter's choice. He was never felt shy about his feelings and always acts on the call of his heart. Even rejected several times, he didn't give up and still trying to reach Crescent's love. Their relationship was kept secret until the day vampire dared to ask her parents for her hand in marriage.
Crescent
Nighttime vampire
Height: 200 cm - 6,56 ft
Cold, as a night vampire from an aristocratic family should be. But unlike her family, she was attracted to something opposite to them, soft and warm. Crescent found these traits in Dawn, a simple daytime vampire from the outskirts of the city, who one day, by the will of fate, got on their streets and, at a chance meeting, asked "Would you like to go to the evening fair with me?". Didn't know why, but she accepted the invitation. There had never been any serious quarrels in their marriage, thanks to Dawn's ability to soften the edges. And Crescent Moon can't take offense at her gentle husband for a long time
Their relation to Full Moon
Crescent is a strict but fair mother. Since childhood, she raised her son as an independent and self-confident man, setting boundaries between vampires and humans. In her opinion, laid down by her family, humans are not anyone above the source of blood. Dawn diluted this categorical by saying that not everything is as clear as it might seem at first glance. This is his life and his choice of how to build his attitude towards someone.
The loss of Full Moon and his announcement on the wanted list greatly shocked both parents. Especially the fact that he committed such a terrible crime — he killed a vampire. But despite this, they hope Full Moon is healthy (considering that vampire blood is a deadly poison for a vampire) and has found a safe place where the guards won't find him.

WOW please ignore how much this brush in red looks kind of like blood upon closer inspection. I was trying to do Christmas colors with the green background + red & white letters and it went... questionably.
Anywho, here is the promised advent calendar recap/review (part 1!! to be followed by a very brief part 2 on or after Christmas lol) I've been having a really lovely time opening these every day, and I'm really excited to see what the final four pockets contain 👀
Day 1: All Might pin | Okay, so I actually knew about this one in advance--when I was reading item descriptions on different websites, trying to figure out whether or not I wanted to buy the advent calendar, someone posted a picture of this pin in their review 😭 Which, like, rude ig but it was a selling point for the calendar itself, so I really can't be mad about it. He looks like he's going for the world's greatest fist bump.
Day 2: Iida sticker | Iida truly said everyone out of the way, I have to appear in this advent calendar before Midoriya and Bakugou, and I love that for him. I am a very big journal & planner person so I'm always looking for more stickers, and I already have a small MHA collection where this one can live until I find a permanent place for it!
Day 3: 1-A pencil | Pretty self-explanatory, but I am like. Stupidly charmed by this. It's a really cute addition to my pen cup.
Day 4: MHA keychain | This has been one of my favorite items in the advent calendar. I've actually been needing a new keychain, and I really love the crest-like design. 10/10, flawless.
Day 5: MHA magnet | The first of the magnets! Love love love the color palette of this one, especially the hint of purple in the outline around the letters.
Day 6: Tsu & Uraraka to/from gift tags | These are also super cute, and such a great idea for an advent calendar!! Unfortunately, I don't know many MHA fans irl, so I doubt I'll be using them unless I plaster, like. Two people's gifts with four labels each 😭 One of my friends did dress up as Tsu for Comic Con this year, so she may be about to have A Very Froppy Christmas 🐸 🎄
Day 7: Hawks sticker | HAWKS STICKER MY BELOVED. This one is actually a puffy sticker, which can be a bit of a pain to place in a journal when you want to write on the following page, but they also add some fun dimension so I use them anyway lol. Needless to say, I Love Him.
Day 8: Endeavor puzzle | Everyone I've asked has concurred that this is indeed meant to be a puzzle!! Regardless of one's opinions on Endeavor, it is objectively hilarious that the makers of this advent calendar said 'here is a small picture of this man. Destroy Him.'
Day 9: Midoriya & Bakugou door hanger | Another incredibly amusing inclusion. Midoriya, who is supposed to be the 'welcome' side, looks like he's about to punch you across the continent. Meanwhile, Katsuki "Stay Out" Bakugou looks like he wants you to try it, actually. Make his day.
Day 10: Aizawa & Present Mic bookmark | My personal favorite, the erasermic bookmark. I'm currently using this for book club, and I have zero notes. They bring me inestimable joy.
Day 11: Shigaraki magnetic bookmark | Much like stickers, I always, always need more bookmarks. This one is kinda heavy, but not so much that it's cumbersome to use. However, my dog Hates Him--I say him, not it, because she was also Not A Fan of my Shigaraki figure when I unboxed him, which is weird because she's largely uninterested in the others except for the most recent addition to the collection. I think it's because their more dynamic poses are supported by an extra stand--they're definitely a little shakier and less stable than the others, but that still doesn't explain the bookmark. ANYWAY I've already started using this for my current non-manga read, go little rock star, no ragrets.
Day 12: All Might sticker | TRULY so many W's in a row. I do wish we'd gotten a little more creative with the pose here (it's the same as the one on the pin), but I Get It and I'm pleased with this one anyway.
Day 13: Toga pin | So I actually really love the look of this kind of pin on tote bags, and while I do already have a few of those, this was the point that I became Very Tempted to buy an MHA-themed tote and start yet another collection. Which, I haven't. Yet. Either way, she's very cute.
Day 14: Dabi holographic card | Dabi is the clear favorite villain of whoever designed this calendar, because this little card is literally so cool. Fittingly, he gets ✨dramatic effects✨ and ✨two poses✨ (the second pose is pictured below). I'm not yet sure if I'm going to use double-sided tape to turn this, too, into a sticker, but I think it's really fun either way.
Day 15: Midoriya tree ornament | Cute in theory, but admittedly very flimsy. It is however very seasonally-appropriate and therefore the flimsiness is excused.
Day 16: UA magnet | THIS IS SO CUTE. I absolutely love this kind of 'in-universe' merch, so this is another favorite advent calendar item.
Day 17: Tokoyami magnet | I was surprised that, of all the characters they chose to dedicate a magnet to, it was Tokoyami & Dark Shadow, but like. Surprised (affectionate). Surprised (positive). A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, etc. This did get stuck to the table while I was taking pictures, but ain't that just the way. Go little rock star x2.
Day 18: Character cards | I don't have a lot to say about these, but they were fun!
Day 19: Kaminari note cards | Again: SUPER cute, and I love the pose they chose (lol), even though I personally don't have much of a use for them.
Day 20: UA sticky notes | ANOTHER FAVORITE, because I Love Stationery, so this is like the UA magnet but better. I would have paid the full price of the advent calendar for these + the erasermic bookmark because I am insane. Okay that might be an exaggeration, but still. Everything else is just almost-as-delightful gravy.
Day 21: Todoroki cardboard standee | Adorable!! I can definitely find a place for this on my bookshelf, so I'm really happy with this one too!
#oh neptune that's a lot of rambling#BUT i wanted to talk about the thing the thing has been a really nice december vibe#mha#mha advent calendar#liza blather

10 Character/10 Fandoms/10 Tags
Tagged by the wonderful @aeide :)
Nil (Horizon Dawn Zero/Forbidden West) - My current obsession I'm rotating around in my mind. What's not to love he's charming in the sense that his most common AU occupation is "Serial Killer." Will he kill you? Depends! Only if you suck, and he promises to never stab you in the back, he wants to look you in the eye if he tries to kill you. But actually, I find him utterly fascinating and in the context of HZD he's just. so nuanced it destroys me. This man has decades of c-ptsd and asks the question of what happens when someone drenched in violence is suddenly expected to stop fighting- the answer is, it takes a lot! I adore him.
Kassandra (AC:Odyssey) - Look the more I think about Kassandra and like the canon quests in that game the more I'm like. They did you wrong, girl. They did you so dirty. SHE JUST WANTS TO GO HOME. IT TAKES DECADES. HER STORY IS A FUSION OF THE ODYSSEY AND THE ILIAD. YOU CAN APPLY THEMES FROM BOTHA ND IT DRIVES ME INSANE. And. And then they say, all thsi you worked so hard for? Well. We have other things we need from you. I am going to chew through my arm.
Mizu (Blue Eye Samurai) - Look. I could link thousand upon thousands words of meta about Mizu and her/they're relationship to gender and existence as a mixed race individual in isolationist Japan. And it still wouldn't capture it all. And past that it's hot person brutally murdering people in absolutely fantastically animated fight scenes.
Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII) - Look. He's my original blorbo. I saw 10 minutes of screen time of him in Advent Children and have been insane ever since. I bought and played through Dirge of Cerberus for him. Something about him apparently just imprinted on me as a child, I've been a lost cause ever since.
Xaden Riorson (Fourth Wing/Iron Flame) - These books are still relatively new so I'll hold my tongue since a lot of what I am obsessed with re: him is spoilers but oh my god. oh. my. god. buddy.
Axel (Kingdom Hearts) - Also an original blorbo from childhood, imprinted on him like a baby duck. His death in KH2 made me bawl. His entire storyline makes me sob, he's the reason why every single aspect of Roxas' story was a gut punch cause like. The best way to make people care about characters is give them someone who loves them then make it sad.
Charles Milton Porter (Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den) - Look. This dude's DLC made me cry. big cry. I still kinda get choked up when i think about it for a while. it's about the grief.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits - I can't choose a characters from this, so I just advise everyone to play this game. It's so good. You're going to be emotionally devastated. It's also about grief. Every character in this game is so so good and you will feel things.
Joe Miller (The Expanse) - He was not the first but he was my defining love of shitty noir space detectives. I loved him from when he was introduced to when he left the series and my love was rewarded so much. Holden and Amos were the runner up characters for this fandom.
Death (The Book Thief) - I read the book thief for the first time in 7th grade I think? Every day of my life since them on my commute to work or when on break I look at the sky and think about how Death would describe the taste of the colors. This book irrecoverably changed me from the day I read it and firmly cemented this Death as the death i hope is there at the end of everything, i love this version of it so much. This death is like. look. go read the book if you haven't had the opportunity.

Avor's Watchlist for weeks 48 + 49
We are in advent and the busy pre-christmas weeks dont leave much time for watching dramas. But looking at the list and the release calendars others are posting, there should be some time during holidays to catch up on the things I want to finish this year.
Currently Airing
Love Sick 2024 13/15 Lovesick has established itself as a solid weekly watch where I can just spend an hour of enjoyable television.
Fourever You 10/16 I should really check out the cut version of this because all the episodes have felt to long for the amount of plot they were conveying
Usotoki Rhetoric 8/10 The genre mix of episodic detective drama and fantasy apprenticeship really works. The theme of contrasting objective lies with harmful lies works well. Hopefully we get to know more about the detective’s background in the last episodes Suzuka Ouji’s acting is phenomenal but the character would remain a bit flat especially compared to the policeman.
Light of my Lion 7/11
See Your Love 8/13
Bad to Bed 6/10
Love in the Air Japan 6/10 The two part nature still feels a bit weird but the shorter runtime of each episode makes it more understandable along with the resulting highlight on the characters.
Our Youth / Miseinen 5/11 To see them so clearly needing each other but knowing that it wont last and the beautiful cinemaphotography really keep me enganged.
Fragrance you inherit 4/8 There is somthing explosive about this one. They are all so kind and thoughtful of each other but I cannot help to dread Kanae’ father.
Caged Again 5/10 Oh my sweet earbest children trying.
Your Sky 4/12 Oh my sweet earbest children trying.
The Heart Killers 3/12
Winter Is Not the Death of Summer but the Birth of Spring 10/21 So far this prison can proudly stand next to all the all boys school as the most BL setting ever created.
Seoul Blues: Spin-off 2/4 Seoul Blues needed a continuation but this is so different again that its probably better appreciated as a separate work. And then the second episode has us in full Battle of the Writers territory. It is really just them doing concepts is seems.
Spare Me Your Mercy 3/8 As long as we accept Tew being thoroughly charmed and fascinated by Kan from the first meeting this series works well enough
What I am catching up on
Unstoppable High Kick 29/167
The Princess Royal 27/40
Word of Honor 24/36
Playboyy 4/14
Still on my watch list
Fight for My Way 10/16
Tengu no Daidokoro Season 2 2/10
Polyethylene terephthalate 2: Even if it's just a dream that I'll forget when I wake up 5/8
Stealing from My CEO 16/61
Buddy Boy 5/?
Kiss x Kiss x Kiss: Love ii Shower 1/?
Secret Love 12/81
Finished in the last two weeks
Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart! 25.11.24 6,5/10 Went out in a whimper. Too much of the resolution was put on a action packed finale which made the human and social endings feel rushed and like an afterthought .
The Nipple Talk 28.11.24 9/10 Queer community and three love stories. About choices we make to be happy. A celebration.
Latex 28.11.24 8,5/10 I am not sure how far I am supposed to interpret the central metaphor. But I am thankful that Matchbox still puts out these decidely queer stories.
Everyone Is a Stupid 30.11.24 8/10 Short film about the negative impact school has on (queer) youth an institution. In the form of two childhood friends finding back together and thereby finding confidence.
Blue Canvas of Youthful Days 01.12.24 9/10 This is probably the series I made the most notes for. Ultimately it fails at its success in getting released. For a series that so meticulously proceeds from one point to the next the happy ending time skip felt out of place and undermines the the cautionary message it means to convey.
Love is Like a Poison 03.12.24 8,5/10 Liked the colour story in the end. The actual ending felt too forced. Making it so personal strechted the believability too far.
Blue Complex 07.12.24 8/10 It builds up the relationship to the other two well. Their mental states are believable and well portrayed but it falls in the trap of the one saving moment. While tha might work for a mental block preventing you from swimming its ridiculous in the face of a suicidal depression the camaderie and saving moment have to be followed up by professional help to not ring hollow.
Let's Eat Together Aki and Haru: More Please! 07.12.24 10/10 The perfect slice of life about the importance of staying true to yourself . With strong colours. A wholesome story to pick you up.

History of Cheat!-related Advent Calendar pages [Part 1/3]
'Tis the season. The Cheaters have appeared a few times throughout the site's Advent Calendar, and this is my blog so I get to ramble about it. Here's all the cameos I've gathered with some additional commentary.
For our first appearance/mention of Cheat! in the advent calendar, we have December 4th, 2009.
This is… An odd one.
The animated graphic for this day clearly depicts Black Pawkeet Slots; however, one of the items that you receive for visiting on this day is the Brucey B Holiday Mug.
One of those ginormous ceramic mugs with painted slots and… A random blue bruce?
That is NOT Brucey.
I'm supposing that this day is supposed to have a more general slot machine theming, but this mug barely has anything to do with Brucey B Slots, despite the item's name; even the description is generic.
For a more on-topic entry, we have December 5th, 2013.
Like all days for this year, this day comes in the form of a fully animated short.
A short-and-sweet story. Kalora and Brucey are having a festive game of what else but Cheat! Kalora decides the throw the game, pushing all the neatly-wrapped winnings on the table to her friend. Brucey is delighted by this tremendous generosity, doing a little happy dance and everything, while Kalora can't help but playfully eyeroll at the display.
This is extremely cute, probably one of my favorites of these. All the days in this year are really well-animated, with original, charming art to go with it. It also seems to have unique voice-acting, making it debatably the closest thing we've got to their canon voices.
Not sure how a two-person Cheat! game is supposed to work, but go them for figuring it out.
The prizes for this day are Brucey B Plushie and Chocolate Lucky Coin.
Absolutely ridiculous, 10/10.
Next up, we have December 7th, 2016.
This day is a fully animated short.
The Avinroo siblings are spending the day the Deserted Fairground. AAA, being his smug self, stops by every game to swiftly dominate it and show up those playing it. Abigail, tired of her brother being a blowhard and crushing the spirits of other fair-goers, urges him to test his skills at Brucey B's High-Striker next. He confidently obliges, however, this game "strikes" him at his weak spot; when he tries to merely pick up the mallet, his noodley nerd arms give out, and he crumples under the weight of it. Brucey and Abby have a good laugh at Aristotle getting humbled, and the short concludes.
A very fun, unique short, and pretty decently executed, all things considered. The world needs more crossovers like these.
The relevant item that's given out by this page is Brucey B Mini High Striker.
Interesting item. The art style really makes it look like a junk piece from 2003 or something, and that's not a bad thing in my book.

Writing Patterns
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there’s a pattern!
Thanks for the fun tag, @perverse-idyll!
1. It’s a grim little thing, the Sorting Hat thinks as she walks up to the dais.
[Hag Tales, HP, Minerva/Amelia, Minerva/Alastor, Minerva/Wilhelmina. The reader's introduction to Miss Minerva McGonagall, as seen through a variety of lenses, including the Sorting Hat's. Yikes!]
2. The body remembers.
[De Aegypto, Minerva/Rolanda. The frame for a short piece about Minerva's musings on Rolanda and their complicated relationship.]
3. The first time Florean Fortescue met Severus Snape, he was mid-charm, putting the finishing touches on his latest creation.
[The Ice Cream Man and the Potions Master, Florean/Severus (pre-slash). A little scene-setting for an episodic piece in which Severus alternately confounds and charms Florean Fortescue.]
4. "Imperio."
[Rest with Your Dream in My Dream, Minerva/Severus. A line stolen from canon, as were many of the lines from this piece in which I attempt to add a little backstory to some of the key scenes in the HP books. This one from the scene where Minerva (needlessly) Imperios Amycus Carrow.]
5. Mind the gap between the train and the platform.
[Mind the Gap, Minerva/Severus. A somewhat contrived frame for this short piece about the ramifications of the age-gap between lovers Minerva and Severus. Also, I had recently returned from London.]
6. What the hell am I doing here?
[Within a Forest Dark, Minerva/Severus. A question I think Severus must have asked himself several times per day. A little tunnel into the main character's mind.]
7. The children filed into the classroom, quieter than they’d ever be again, Albus knew. The first-years were always a little awed by their first day at Hogwarts.
[One to Keep an Eye On, Albus, Minerva. Some scene-setting for a short piece about how Albus and Minerva first met.]
8. Thorfinn McGonagall sat in his study answering some of the many letters of condolence that continued to pour in two months after his wife’s death, when a shriek from somewhere on a floor above pulled him out of his chair.
[From Jupiter's Head, OC, Minerva, Albus. A somewhat ham-fisted attempt to provide a bit of (canon-divergent) backstory for Minerva, introducing both her father and her magical prowess.]
9. Anyone who’d spent any time at all at Number 12 Grimmauld Place in the past weeks would not have been surprised to see an identical pair of ginger heads creeping down a creaky staircase at ten minutes past one o’clock on a July morning.
[The Perils of Eavesdropping. Fred, George, Alastor/Minerva. Distanced narrative-setting for a short, (hopefully) humorous piece.]
10. If anyone had asked the Reverend Robert Fingal McGonagall ten years ago what he’d be doing on the third Saturday of Advent in the year of our Lord 1990, he might have laid even odds on “thumbing the harp wi’ the angels.”
[Sufficient Unto the Day, Robert McGonagall, Sr, Minerva/Severus. An introduction to the main character, Minerva's minister father.]
As far as patterns go, I'd say I tend to open with short, simple phrases, often internal dialogue splashed right up front without any context. Since my stories tend to be character-driven pieces (fanfic, ya know?), I like to get into my characters' heads ASAP. It's a little odd, given that my overall narrative style leans (too) heavily on complex compound sentences. Or, it seems, I sometimes go in the opposite direction, opening with a line that establishes a more distanced narrative, sort of a birdseye POV, if you will.

essories naturally evolved to fulfill necessities, while others were introduced to represent social status and wealth. Early accessories — when humans were dancing around a fire dressed in leaves and animal skin — were made of bones, seeds, feathers, shells, and stones. Crowns, amulets, or badges often depicted the status of the individual in the tribe or town.
Necessity carved the other sets of accessories, such as bags and footwear. Glasses, shades, and watches (often replaced with Fitbit these days) were introduced to the list with newer inventions.
In the last few centuries, it has been observed that wars and economic depressions have impacted fashion more than any major brand or designer. For instance, in the Victorian era, gloves, fans, and extravagant hats were integral to women’s wear, while after the Great Depression, the style became subtle and minimalist with long socks and simple hats.
Accessories are capable of changing the mood of a get-up. Social media is filled with tutorials to style the same dress for different occasions by just changing the accompanying accessories — just changing how a scarf is worn or adding a belt can change the whole vibe of the look.

oh I’m pretty sure this is within the bounds of 3 block rule. so I thought both friends bringing their partners were engaged but it turns out I was thinking about a different friend and I fell into a faux pas by going like. oh. you two aren’t…? anyway I like my friend’s fiance—ok I’m just gonna use A for engaged and B for not engaged—I like A’s fiance, I don’t know him well but even though he’s obviously more on the shy/quiet side he’ll participate in conversation (especially when there are less people) and he has clear likes and dislikes. like he has charm points, the guy really likes kirby, A mentioned both of them wanting to go out of their way to get a kirby for each room (note to self pick up a kirby plush if the chance presents itself) (note to self ask A to take pics of current kirby collection) therefore when he’s brought to our high school pal get togethers I’m like yeah I consider him a participant of the group. B’s boyfriend is there. he just exists. he’s polite and he has not committed any Guest Crimes. I don’t care for him. the experience I have with him is him being more extroverted than fiance but less engaged (wait LMAO) (sorry B) and aside from the engagement part being a sore spot (B’s been with him for 7 years) I don’t think bare minimum of ‘no murderable offense’ is enough to endear him to an outside group. he is JUST there. he eats food and exist. I don’t care for that. I think if you’re going to show up to someone’s get-together as a partner (or general plus-one guest) there is a minimum threshold of effort that goes into incorporating yourself into the social circle of your partner for that time. The goal doesn’t doesn’t have to be *make* friends but it’s like spice girls said. actually this might be the advent of ending long-term relationships, another friend is going to break up with his boyfriend of 7 years in the next four months. He (boyfriend) is also nothing to me. Oh, but this isn’t *just* me being biased against (male) partners, I hardly ever talk to a different friend’s husband and he’s fine because when we do end up in each other’s vicinity he’s a spirited conversationalist, I wouldn’t consider him a friend (if only due to time spent/overall familiarity) but I can appreciate the openness and effort. Basically what I’m saying is if you’re going to exist around a partner’s friend either *actually* show up or don’t show up at all. I don’t care for an extra mouth to feed if that’s all you’re going to be. also, I am biased against male partners. If you’re going to be a guy and date my friend then ‘not bad’ isn’t good enough, step up or get out. Tsk. Speaking of, a friend’s sister (who I would consider a friend) started dating someone and I hope they break up soon he fucking sucks. If you stay with your partner’s family for several days and don’t offer any help whatsoever that’s a murderable offense. for context all of my major social circles have been like 80% women and 5% men and 15% Gender™️ and I went to a women’s college for undergrad and grad school so I’m used to any guy coming into my life being vetted by at minimum 10 women before I learn his name and/or being able to show up in that kind of space comfortably and/or being trans. Anyway happy new year I hope my friends break up with their boyfriends and I hope my friends marry their fiances.

Zephyrhills’ warm weather during the holidays offers a chance to combine traditional Christmas elements with tropical touches:
Use palm fronds or tropical leaves as part of your garlands or wreaths.
Add ornaments in vibrant shades of turquoise, coral, and gold to reflect Florida’s coastal vibe.
Create a centerpiece with citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and limes for a fresh, local touch.
2. Highlight Outdoor Spaces
In Zephyrhills, the mild December weather allows you to extend your decorations outdoors:
String warm white lights around your palm trees or porch railings.
Set up an outdoor Christmas seating area with weatherproof pillows and throws in festive colors.
Decorate your patio with lanterns, poinsettias, and small potted evergreens to create a holiday ambiance.
3. Embrace Southern Charm
Give your home a warm and welcoming feel with classic Southern-inspired décor:
Use burlap ribbons and bows in your tree or wreaths for a rustic yet elegant look.
Incorporate magnolia leaves and pinecones into your garlands and centerpieces.
Display a vintage sleigh or wagon at your entryway filled with faux snow, ornaments, and wrapped gifts.
4. Choose Lightweight and Airy Decorations
Considering Zephyrhills’ humidity, opt for lightweight materials that won’t droop or fade:
Use artificial greenery and flowers treated for outdoor use.
Opt for LED lights to avoid excess heat and save energy.
Decorate with fabric banners, paper snowflakes, or mesh ribbons that stay crisp in humid conditions.
5. Create a Festive Front Porch
Your porch is the perfect place to welcome guests and show off your holiday spirit:
Add a wreath to your door with a mix of traditional Christmas greens and local flora.
Place a pair of oversized candy canes or nutcrackers on either side of your doorway.
Hang a cheerful holiday sign that reads “Merry Christmas from Zephyrhills” or similar personalized greetings.
6. Incorporate Sustainable Décor
Celebrate the season while being mindful of the environment:
Use natural materials like twigs, burlap, and recycled wood for décor.
Make your own ornaments using seashells or driftwood collected from nearby areas.
Repurpose mason jars into snow globes, candle holders, or mini terrariums.
7. Go Big with Lights
Christmas lights bring magic to any space, and Zephyrhills is no exception:
Wrap your home in twinkling lights, focusing on windows and rooflines.
Use LED string lights in whimsical shapes like stars, flamingos, or palm trees to match the local vibe.
Install a light projector to create moving snowflakes or festive patterns on your home’s exterior.
8. Personalize Your Decorations
Make your decorations uniquely yours:
Display family photos or ornaments with special memories on your tree.
Create a custom advent calendar with small trinkets or notes for each day leading to Christmas.
Include handmade crafts or DIY decorations created with your loved ones.
9. Add Festive Scents
Don’t forget the power of scent to enhance your holiday atmosphere:
Use candles or essential oil diffusers with fragrances like cinnamon, pine, or peppermint.
Simmer a pot of water with oranges, cloves, and cinnamon sticks for a natural and inviting aroma.
Place fresh greenery or eucalyptus in vases around your home.
10. Host a Decoration Party
Bring the community together by hosting a holiday decorating party:
Invite friends and family to help deck the halls while enjoying festive music and treats.
Set up stations for DIY ornaments, wreath-making, or gingerbread houses.
End the night with a tree-lighting ceremony and hot cocoa under the stars.
Conclusion
Zephyrhills provides the perfect backdrop for creating a festive and welcoming holiday atmosphere. By blending traditional Christmas themes with local charm and a touch of creativity, your home will radiate the joy and warmth of the season. Whether you’re hosting gatherings or simply enjoying the holidays with loved ones, these decorating ideas will make your Zephyrhills home sparkle this Christmas.

They went right to Pamela’s bar, or rather, Crowley led them there, which meant he had either been casing the neighborhood before he’d moved in or been here before, and both of those were good signs, because the first option meant he cared where he settled down, and the second that pamela had let him in, which for a psychic meant a lot.
The place was next to Benny’s and Andrea’s café, his favourite place to hang out when he wasn’t busy. There was always someone around, he usually got food and drinks at either a pretty good rate or for nothing, and he never felt like the odd one out, despite ebbing a human with no powers.
“Dean!” she immediately called out before she could have seen them, but that was where the psychic powers came in. “And you have a guest!”
Could have been the other way round as well, but he supposed he got seniority. “Pamela, this is Crowley” he introduced them. “Crowley, this is Pamela, psychic extraordinaire, so don’t even try anything.”
“I would never” he said simply, actually leaning down to kiss her hand, and she threw her head back and laughed. Yes, Dean reflected, a very good sign. If Pamela would have gotten anything dangerous from Crowley, she would have let him know immediately. She wasn’t the type to let things happen just for the giggles, and she knew how far she could take it.
Although, judging from the way she looked from Crowley to Dean and back again, he quickly became aware that she was contemplating quite a different topic, and he’d rather not –
“Haven’t you found yourself quite a charmer.”
“There’s no – “ he had no idea what he was about to say so he quickly corrected himself to, “He has the shop on Fulsom Street. The new one.”
As he had hoped it would the talk of business distracted her for the time being. “Yeah seen it. Since you’re here with him, I assume everything is above board – I’ll drop by one of these days, I can always use more herbs.”
Crwoley nodded at her. “I do have a vast collection for both the expert and the amateur. In this case obviously the former.”
“Yes, this charm will get you far in our little corner of the world. Alright then, boys, what can I get you?”
Dean went for his usual, whereas Crowley chose a glass of craig. Interesting – alcohol didn’t affect demons, so he had to actually like the taste.
“So, and please just take this as me making polite small talk, how did you decide to settle down here of all places?” he asked because he was genuinely curious. If he had the powers demons had – well, a few of them anyway, and Crowley struck him as the sort of guy who would not let him know immediately just how far his went – then he could snap his fingers and sit under a palm tree whenever he wished, and yet here he weas, right in the middle of the good old US of A, working a shop. There might be a reason or it – maybe he needed to lie low for a while; dean was no expert when it came to the politics pf hell, but there was every reason to think that the demons were not exactly the friendliest bunch…
“You know it’s safest for us to relocate every few years, unless we find a really safe place, and…” he paused for a moment or two, then continued, “I’ve heard good things”.
“Of our glittering metropolis? I can just imagine.” It wasn’t that dean didn’t like living here – on the contrary – but there had to be a better –
“We do talk, you know, we’re just not some funny chess pieces you can move around.”
“I never said that?” he answered, confused, and Crowley looked at him and nodded and – it had just been another test. Wonderful. At least he was honest about it, which was more than one could say about many others Dean had met over the courser of his career, for lack of a better word.
It was not that he didn’t like those he had to deal with. He was simply being realistic.
Crowley shrugged. “It happens. Don’t ask me for details.”
“I won’t.” In fact, he really did not want to know.
“And anyway, how could I possibly say no to this glittering metropolis of a city?” he then added and Dean laughed.
“Oh yes. Forget New York, Lawrence really never sleeps.”
“Me neither.”
Dean laughed again and then caught Pamela’s eyes.
She winked at him.
Oh God. Thankfully she didn’t have Sam’s number.
He turned back to Crwoley.
It really was a fun evening – between friends.
Wasn’t his fault the demon was really good company now, wasn’t it.
