age regressor!kaito x caregiver!gakupo kamui headcanons, here you are! you didn't specify human vs synth au etc (which you're welcome to), so i tried to keep these more general!

— kaito tends to regress as a means of handling the crashes from after performances, but it's also a means of handling stress and big emotions for him. gakupo regulates easily by taking care of other people or having a task to focus on, so they're an excellent team!

— gakupo learned about age regression through kaito, who introduced him to it when he decided to open up about his means of handling stress. gakupo found it fascinating, and was quick to do his research! and once he knew, kaito also stopped hiding his regression as much, especially starting to work on relaxing his mask around gakupo himself <3

— kaito doesn't seem like one for titles... honorifics, sure, but i don't think he'd call his caregivers titles. he might refer to them with fond names or titles, like maybe he'd call rin and len his little siblings, or meiko his big sister, but when it comes to a cg, he'll probably use nicknames. he calls gakupo just "gaku" a lot, or "lilac." maybe "lavender," if he's feeling extra soft, because!! purple!! he's so smart!!

— gakupo is a very charismatic man, and it translates so, so well into petnames... he loves calling kaito "kaikai" or "little k," but his favorite pet names for kaito have gotta be "little prince," "pretty boy," and maybe "songbird" or "baby bird" if he's being affectionate post-performance. it's a good way to compliment kaito's singing!

— very soft, domestic activities... kaito likes curling up and watching a show, or coloring, or playing little mobile games, maybe watching a movie, and gakupo isn't going to turn down playing a game with his little sweetheart or cuddling while they watch a movie together.

— naturally, they sing together <3 whenever kaito starts humming a song gakupo recognizes, he joins in! and sometimes kaito will quietly sing if he hears gakupo humming or half-singing songs he knows!

— kaito strikes me as the time to have a thing with chewing... maybe its the whole frozen sweet motif, but he's got a busy mouth! gakupo likes finding him ice cream themed things like teethers or pacis, even if they never buy them.

— i don't think kaito has a set age he regresses to. sometimes he's ten, other times he's four, maybe he'll be eight! or thirteen! you never really know with him, but gakupo finds it a fun challenge to piece together how old the little blueberry is feeling on any given day.

JOHN - 117 .

☆ tries to push through it. because of course he does.

☆ he knows he should rest, but the itch to always be doing something makes him restless and he can't stand sitting around. usually, the medbay staff have to ask whoever in the chain of command he's answering to at that moment to order him to comply, or they have to ask fred to wrangle him into cooperating.

☆ because augmented supersoldiers probably shouldn't be operating powerarmor that connects to their BRAIN while they have FEVERS, he probably has to get out of mjolnir, and he HATES IT. he feels so unsafe, so exposed - he can't sleep unless there's someone else in the room watching his back for him. blue team takes shifts to cover each other and make sure he actually rests.

☆ to his credit, he complies very readily with orders related to medication and antibiotics and what have you. he knows the meds are the fastest way to get the illness out of him, but that does not mean he likes it.

☆ constantly grasping at straws to try to keep himself alert, but he slips up every so often. a muttered insult here, an accidental facial expression there - he's just a little more unfiltered. he hates this, too.

☆ overall is very uncomfortable, but moreso uncomfortable with how out of it he feels and the fact he knows he's in a vulnerable state. please keep him with his teammates he will not rest if you don't let them help take care of him.

FREDERIC - 104 .

☆ big baby. huffs and grumbles about being sick because he has work to do!! he can't just sit around and do nothing, he's busy! plus they have suit maintenance soon and he scheduled a slot for training in two days and-

☆ very upset he can't help the team out. he hates being unable to do what blue often relies on him for, and he WILL go behind their backs to try to do it on his own. most times, they have to compromise into letting him do SOME of the work while another team member helps him or supervises so he doesn't overwork himself.

☆ very, very bothered by the symptoms he experiences. he's used to Not having weird temperature regulation shit and a headache and congestion and all this other shit so he is. always uncomfortable constantly until the symptoms ease up

☆ has to tell himself "doctor's orders" and "it'll make it go faster" before taking his meds for the illness. his ass does NOT like having to take medication. for ANYTHING.

☆ unlike john, he's HAPPY to curl up and sleep for a full day if you let him. he knows he doesn't need it, but he sure as fuck does love getting to sleep when given the chance.

☆ avoids going out into frequently used spaces of wherever he's sick at, because he'd feel guilty if he got marines or other personnel sick. if it got to him, as a spartan, he doesn't want to know what would happen to a nonaugmented person. and he doesn't want to be the reason they find out.

☆ jokingly calls himself defective for getting sick all of once. the three "don't you fucking dare" type looks he got from his teammates made him quickly decide against doing that again.

KELLY - 087 .

☆ drama queen, good lord. bitches and complains about being sick the whole time. she's always so fast, and go go go, that having to slow down is TORTURE to her.

☆ insists she is fine. constantly. she is not. like john, she has to be wrangled. this does not always work.

☆ repeat offender of trying to ignore the fact she's sick and pushing herself so hard she makes it worse because she refuses to admit she can't go at full throttle.

☆ when she's FINALLY herded into bed and accepts she's sick, she knocks out for a full day and wakes up wondering what day it is because she's so disoriented. she needs to learn what taking a break means. especially when it comes to being sick.

☆ she'll take her meds, don't worry - she just needs to complain about it first and she'll be fine.

☆ secretly enjoys being sick sometimes, because it means she can avoid being bossed around to do menial tasks that she doesn't want to do. even if it means she has to deal with her siblings squinting at her constantly to make sure she's resting.

☆ really, really hates how being sick makes her physically feel. just the feeling. she knows that, even seriously ill, she could outrun a warthog if she had to. she just feels icky and tired and sluggish and it's really annoying ,, :/ smh.

☆ uses how fast she can beat her teammates in a spar as a gauge for how recovered she is once she starts to feel better. she keeps track of her best times, so she knows when her performance is back up to speed. :)

LINDA - 058 .

☆ bless her, linda is so in tune with herself that she knows the instant she starts to fall ill. she shows up at medbay, says she's getting sick, and asks for an immune booster to try to ward it off before it gets too severe. she is so reliably on target with this that there's a note in her file saying to believe her when she says she's sick. because she does.

☆ very compliant with what she is told to do. bedrest? okay, that's more time to meditate if she can't sleep, then. antibiotics? yessir, takes them without complaint. avoid heavy exercise? if you say so.

☆ she's very patient, and despite her general lack of trust in non-specialists that she works with, she knows that it's their job to get her back in working order. plus, the faster she recovers, the less she'll have to see the damn medbay. after her revival, she really does hate medical settings. so, she'll go along with it.

☆ like john, she doesn't like feeling exposed, and sleeps best when she has someone in the room with her. but she doesn't ask for her team to cover her in shifts - she'll show up where they are for a nap. settles against the wall while kelly goes for a run in the gym, lean against fred's legs while he deals with paperwork and scheduling for the team, sits with john whenever he actually sits still for once. she'll go to them. they know this, and they trust her to tell her if she needs anything else.

☆ the most susceptible to fever dreams out of the four. wakes up with a frown or dazed and recounts what she remembers to the team, mostly because they get so fucking weird that it's interesting to talk about.

☆ can't stand being sick because everything feels WRONG. she mediates so often, knows herself so well, that having things be wrong or different with herself and not being able to fix it drives her crazy. she wants it to be over and she wants it to be over NOW. sometimes, it gets really overstimulating to her.

☆ the only one out of the four to wait for the medbay to clear her for duty once she feels better. with how complicated her recovery after being revived was, she's not taking any chances at getting wiped out just when she thought she was doing better.

PROLOGUE

"We were ghosts walking among the dead—bodies still moving, but our fate had already been decided."

They were everywhere. Genevieve could feel the heat of the flames from the barn as it crackled behind her, but the relentless growl of the walkers drowned it out. She fought her way through the throng, blood and sweat mixing with dirt, but no matter how many she shoved aside, more seemed to take their place.

Her breath came in ragged gasps as she stumbled backward, tripping over the uneven ground. No... She wanted to scream, to shout for help, but the sound of the walkers' moans and snarls was deafening, drowning out everything else. Her heart pounded against her ribs, each beat a reminder that she was alone. The last hope she had was gone.

She glanced over her shoulder, but the truck that had carried the others was long gone, disappearing into the smoke and chaos. They hadn't heard her. They couldn't have.

“Genevieve!”

She spun around at the sound of her name, and for a moment, she thought she was imagining it, that it was just another cruel trick of the apocalypse. But no, there was Andrea, fighting through the walkers, a wild look in her eyes as she made her way toward her.

It was a miracle she was still alive. Genevieve barely had time to process her presence before Andrea shoved a rifle into her hands, a grim determination on her face.

“Come on, we gotta get out of here!” Andrea’s voice was raw, hoarse, but filled with urgency. She fired a shot that took down a walker and then pushed another away with a brutal shove.

Genevieve barely registered the cold metal in her hands as she fought beside Andrea, shooting when she had to, slamming the butt of the rifle into a walker’s skull when her aim went wild. But no matter how many they took down, more were always there, their rotting hands reaching out for them.

The walkers were pushing them further into the woods, far from the group. How had it come to this? She was supposed to be protecting them. She should have been strong enough to help. But here they were—two survivors in a sea of death.

Maybe this is karma, Genevieve thought bitterly. For everything I've done... everything I couldn’t fix. The thought of her secret gnawed at her, mixing with the nausea in her stomach. She could feel the weight of it, every step, every movement reminding her of the failure she carried.

“Gene!” Andrea’s voice cut through the fog in her mind, her grip tight on Genevieve’s arm as she yanked her forward. “Snap out of it! We need to go. It’s just us now.”

Just us.

The words struck deep, echoing in her ears. She hadn’t been prepared for this—hadn’t been prepared for the reality that the people she’d relied on were now gone, and she was here with only Andrea and herself to fight through it.

We were dead already, Genevieve thought, her voice echoing in the recesses of her mind, cold and unfeeling. But then Andrea looked back at her, her face filled with determination and something more—hope, maybe. And that was enough.

Genevieve gripped the rifle tighter, pushing back against the walkers as they made their way further into the woods, unsure of where they were going, but knowing they couldn’t stop.

Not yet.

franks an easy one! firstly- he's not dead yet. i say yet because this is a daddy-adjacent timeline, and.. well, ted's not there for sheila to shoot. but that'll happen in several years.

he's just trying to run toyzone and make money. that's his only goal. his biggest issue as the mainfic flows is lex taking more and more sick time for hannah. it frustrates him to no end, and he winds up hiring someone new to replace her shifts. worst thing he's ever had to do, if he ask him.

otherwise, he's selling the lord's dolls, working alone and going home to drink himself into an early grave. over and over, until his death.

he does appear in the mainfic, in a b&w chapter! he's one of many characters that max, ruth and richie will need to meet, befriend, and pass on their way out of the black.

frank is just like every man in a dead end job on the island. he works, eats, drinks, sleeps, and starts over again. his days are made by little kids coming in and proudly handing over their hard earned pocket money and a small stuffed animal. he always wanted kids..

Alex stared at the 3 identical envelopes in front of them, neatly laid out on the coffee table and took a deep breath. One was already missing, sent quickly off in Corintha's direction. The Marketplace had a slightly different reality clock to Haven's, so she had a good... Week? Or so? To prepare and make her way here.

Alex leaned forward and slid one of them forward and out of consideration. They'd see Jay soon enough, and if not he was getting the much less formal text notification and could collect the paper version at the event itself for his personal paper trail.

No... It was these two that was giving them a headache currently. It was entirely too tempting to just... Not send the invitations out. Oops oh no! Two less guests how sad oh well... But no. Alex had asked Zack for these invitations, and they intended on following through.

They sighed an even deeper sigh and stood, taking the envelopes and tucking them into the inner pocket of their coat. They'd get the more troublesome one out of the way first, and by the time their portal cooled down, they could figure out what in the hell to say to the second...
