(will always be my number 1 - you can pry him from my cold, soulless hands. there will never come a day when alex is not my spirit character)

(someone in the alta comments described him as a horny, bitchy tamagotchi and i died. he is the greatest feral cat to sassy husband transformation ever. don't get me started on The Hand Gesture)

(annoy, tiny blonde one. annoy like the wind! The definition of a badass bitch)

4. Jake Seresin, Top Gun Maverick

(i watched ted lasso for the first time this year and i am just OBSESSED with this man. he's so damn sweet and true to himself. GOLD)

9. Paul Strickland, 911 Lone Star

(this man is literally out here officiating weddings, solving mysteries, putting out fires and making a mean chilli. like he does THE MOST. hats off)

10. Keeley Jones (and Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent), Ted Lasso

(not afraid to say i love the throuple but ALSO i just feel like all three of these characters had such beautiful arcs in ted lasso, i can't possibly choose one so i have to choose them all)

whumptober 2024, day 4: hallucinations

“I’m not sick,” Veronica insists, sneezing as she does. Logan rolls his eyes, places his hands on her shoulders and pushes her gently down onto her bed. 

“Your running nose begs to differ,” he says. “You need sleep. I’m locking you up until you rest.” 

“I am fine!” she argues, but even as she does she notices just how comfortable her bed is. “Okay, maybe a little rest would be good,” she says, settling back into her pillows, “but not because I’m sick.” 

“Yeah, yeah, whatever, thank me after you’ve slept off the fever you’re ignoring.” Logan grins at her and turns off the light. “See you later.” 

“Bye,” she says, a little miserably. Being sick is the worst, but at least it doesn’t take her long to fall asleep. 

When she opens her eyes, it’s past five in the evening and starting to get dark out. Her curtains are drawn, so at first she doesn’t notice that someone is standing in the corner of her room. When she does, she blinks a couple of times in confusion. Her head feels foggier than it did when she fell asleep, her skin hot and her sheets damp from sweat. 

“Logan?” she asks, and her own voice feels far away, throat scratchy. A girlish giggle comes from the corner, and Veronica sits up, dizzy as she does. Definitely not Logan. 

“Who’s there?” she asks quickly. 

“Don’t recognise your own best friend, V?” the stranger asks, and then it hits Veronica: the person in the corner of her room is not a stranger. 

It’s Lily. 

“Lily?” she says aloud, in disbelief. “What - how-,” 

Lily steps into the last crack of evening light from between Veronica’s curtains and sits on the edge of the bed. Veronica doesn’t move, frozen in shock, dizzy from her fever. 

“How are you here?” she whispers to her dead best friend. Lily laughs again, but it’s not a pleasant one. It’s the laugh she would use when she was being cruel. 

“I had to come and tell you something,” Lily whispers. She edges closer to Veronica and places a cold hand on Veronica’s cheek. 

“What is it?” Veronica whispers back. She feels younger again, like they’re at a sleepover. She knows in her bones that whatever Lily is about to tell her is important. Thank you, perhaps, for finding her killer and avenging her death? That she misses her? 

“Sweet, silly Veronica,” Lily says coldly, her hand still on Veronica’s cheek. “How much of a slut do you have to be to sleep with your dead best friend’s boyfriend?” 

Veronica’s heart jumps into her throat and she pulls away from Lily’s hand on her face. She can’t see all of the details of Lily’s face through the darkness, but can picture her face: full of disdain and disgust. 

“What?” she says, her voice cracking. “We - we’re not-,” 

“Don’t try to defend yourself,” Lily hisses, crawling up to Veronica so that she’s straddling her waist, knees either side pinning her down. When Veronica speaks, she chokes on her own words. 

“I’m - I’m so sorry,” she says, tears stinging at the backs of her eyes. 

“You betrayed me,” Lily continues, voice hard. “After everything, you betrayed me.” 

“I’m sorry,” Veronica says again, the tears that have been threatening her eyes finally spilling over. Her head feels like it’s underwater, her mouth like it’s full of cotton. “I d-don’t-,” 

Lily cuts her off by pressing a hand over Veronica’s mouth. She leans forward so that the dark outline of her face is inches from Veronica’s. 

“Your apology,” she says harshly. “Means nothing.” 

A second later she’s gone, and Veronica doesn’t understand why or how, and her head aches - her heart even more. 

“I’m so sorry,” she sobs, voice breaking. “Lily, come back, please! Please, can we talk about this!” 

Lily doesn’t come back.

Having Logan join the Military when they spent 3 seasons showing nothing but corruption in government organizations was bad enough but then they had to turn him into a full gym bro who eats plain chicken and egg whites and uses the most cliche therapy speak in conversations that no one besides narcissists trying to pretend they’re healed actually use😭

Rob Thomas had been slowly killing logan echolls for YEARS before the end of season 4 and he really thought, with a fanbase who loves the extremely vengeful and grudge holding protagonist, that was a good idea
