Stunned

Lila jerked forwards as Marinette pushed her to the ground. The Italian growled, spinning to glare at French-Chinese girl. The look of shock on Chloé’s face made her stop, before she noticed the Akuma towering over them.

Without another word, Lila and Chloé bolted, leaving Marinette with the Akuma. Steal looked at the girl the other two left behind. She recognised her as the girl that got her arrested. A cruel smirk on her face, Steal picked her up, placed a bucket on her head and threw her into the Seine.

Lila and Chloé stopped running after passing a third block. Lila heaved air into her lungs, before Chloé slid down to the ground.

“I…think…we…lost…them.” Panted Lila, her hands on her legs.

“Yeah…good thing Dupain-Cheng was there.” Said Chloé, suddenly making Lila aware that Marinette wasn’t with them.

“Where is she?” Asked Lila, looking back the way they came.

“She was stunned, I think.” Dismissed Chloé, getting to her feet and dusting herself off, “I don’t care where she is, I’ve got more important things to worry about.”

Chloé sauntered off, leaving Lila behind. The Italian stood still, thinking her possible courses of action over. If she left Marinette at the mercy of the Akuma, she’d be down a liability. But Marinette took a hit for her. It’s not like Lila is responsible for what happens to the person next to you during an Akuma attack. For all she knew, Marinette could have just saved Lila’s life.

Biting back a groan, Lila headed back the way she came.

Marinette struggled to hold her breath, she couldn’t move her arms of her legs, she couldn’t see and she was underwater. Marinette’s bucket was full of water, and Marinette was craving air. She needed to head up. But which way was up? How was she supposed to do that is she couldn’t move her limbs. Marinette’s mind started to get foggy, sending Marinette into a disaster spiral and, without thinking, Marinette breathed in.

Chloé scowled at her phone. Her manicure appointment wasn’t for another hour, which no doubt was now delayed because of the Akuma. Chloé’s mind went back to Marinette. She took a hit for her and Lila and she just ran away.

Chloé stewed for a couple of minutes, before getting up and running to where Marinette was.

Lila skidded to a halt, finding Marinette to be gone. There was a wet patch next to the bank. Lila froze and her heart sunk. The Akuma couldn’t’ve thrown Marinette into the Seine, could they?

A small bubble confirmed Lila’s thoughts and, without a second’s hesitation, Lila shed her jacket and bag and dived into the Seine. The water stung Lila’s eyes, but she quickly located Marinette. Swimming down and grabbing Marinette’s prone leg, Lila pulled her close to her and started to swim back up to the surface. Lila tried to lift Marinette up when she reached the bank, only to lose her grip and nearly drop her. A pair of hands quickly grabbed Marinette and started to haul her up, Lila dove and got underneath Marinette, pushing her up.

Chloé dragged Marinette’s prone form away from the bank, with Lila hauling herself up.

“You,” Lila coughed, “You need to get that bucket off her head.”

Chloé rolled her eyes and lifted Marinette’s head up, freezing when water spilled out from around Marinette’s head. Acting fast, Chloé pulled the bucket off and tried to listen for Marinette breathing. Nothing. She moved her head to Marinette’s chest, trying to hear for a heartbeat. Again, nothing.

Chloé immediately started doing chest compressions, as Lila finished wringing her hair out.

“What are you doing?” Asked Lila, flinching as she heard Marinette’s chest crack.

“CPR.” Grunted Chloé, “You need to give her mouth to mouth.”

“Why?!” Demanded Lila, glaring at Chloé.

She sighed, impatiently, “It’s two fold,” Chloé grunted, “this works for the heart, and the mouth-to-mouth inflates her lungs, so, fucking help!”

Lila rolled her eyes, pulling Marinette’s mouth open and reared back when water spilled out.

“Remember to plug her nose.” Heaved Chloé, “Take a deep breath and force it down her throat.”

Lila stared at Chloé.

“NOW!” Shrieked Chloé, prompting Lila into action.

Pinching Marinette’s nose shut, Lila covered Marinette’s mouth with her own.

Chat ducked as Tazer tried to hit him, Ladybug had yet to turn up, but he knew she’d turn up, she always did.

“Down!” Yelled a voice.

Ladydragon tackled him out of the way of a blast, the two heroes skidded to a stop.

“What are you doing here?” Blurted Chat, as Ladydragon got to her feet.

“I heard Majesta was going to be here and I wanted her autograph.” Panted Ladydragon, rolling of one side, “Where’s Ladybug?”

“I…I don’t know.” Confessed Chat, “she’s usually here by now.”

Ladydragon froze, before looking around. Tazer hit the ground between them, sending them flying. The Akuma sauntered up to them, only to be tackled by a cream-coloured blur.

Eagle and Knightowl landed next to the other heroes.

“You said you could handle things.” Snapped Knightowl, hauling Chat to his feet.

“We can,” Growled Chat, as Uncanny Valley joined them, “Ladybug hasn’t turned up.”

Knightowl tutted, before looking at Uncanny Valley. The Android looked around, scanning for Ladybug.

“I’m unable to locate her.” Said Uncanny Valley, looking at Knightowl, “She may be out of range.”

Knightowl tutted again, as Uncanny Valley scanned again.

Chloé and Lila leaned away from Marinette, she wasn’t breathing and neither of them could hear a heartbeat. A faint flashing drew their attention to Marinette’s ears, the earrings no longer looked like black studs.

A moment later, a small red and black thing was floating in front of them.

“No fucking way.” Lila swore, staring at the Kwami.

“Dupain-Cheng’s Ladybug?!” Demanded Chloé, immediately reaching for the earrings.

“Don’t.” Said Tikki, glaring at them, “If you put those on, they will tear you apart. Both of you.”

Chloé and Lila stared at Tikki, who continued to glare at them.

“But,” Tikki glanced at Marinette’s prone form, “since these are extenuating circumstances, both of you are going to have to take one earring each.”

Chat ducked as Ladydragon and Eagle were thrown into Majesta and Knightowl. He rolled his eyes when Knightowl tutted again, he considered using Cataclysm, but Ladybug still hadn’t arrived.

“She’s really professional, isn’t she?” Snarled Knightowl, as Chat slid under Tazer, as a second Akuma joined the fight.

“Where were you?” Asked Tazer, getting a smirk from Steal.

“Settling a debt.” Two yoyos suddenly wrapped themselves around Steal and pulled her backwards.

“Oh, thank god M��La-” Chat stared at the two girls, before snarling, “Who are you? And where’s Ladybug?”

The blonde looked at the Brunette, before swallowing, “I’m…Scarlet Lady and this is…”

“Harlequinn.”

“Ladybug’s, kinda been hurt.”

“What do you mean hurt?” Demanded Knightowl, just as Uncanny Valley contacted them.

“I’ve found Ladybug.”

Majesta stiffened at the sadness in her daughter’s voice.

“What’s wrong?” Demanded Majesta, as everyone stared at the communicator.

“Ladybug’s lungs are filled with water,” Reported Uncanny Valley, “She’s not breathing, and I am unable to detect a heartbeat. I’ve managed to stimulate her brain enough to prevent brain death.”

Chat swallowed, before looking at Scarlet and Harlequinn, “What did you do?!”

“Hey,” Snapped Harlequinn, “it was the Akuma, not us!”

Chat huffed, before looking at Steal, who was still tied up, while they were distracted, Eagle had managed to subdue Tazer, as Chat looking at Scarlet Lady and Harlequinn, “So, which one of you has the Lucky Charm?”

Harlequinn held up a red and black spotted mask, before she handed it to Scarlet Lady. Chat turned to the Akumas and located their objects. Breaking them, the two Ladybug wielders caught the Akumas and, barely, purified them.

Scarlet bit her bottom lip and tossed the mask into the air, the cure shakily making its way around the city.

“Ladybug’s just coughed up water, I’m taking her to a hospital.” Reported Uncanny Valley, prompting Chat to hold his hand out to the two Ladybug wielders.

“The Miraculous.” Chat glared, “Now.”

Reluctantly, Scarlet Lady and Harlequinn removed the earrings and held them out to Chat. Chat cast a glare at Chloé and Lila, before racing off to catch up with Uncanny Valley.

“Eagle, escort them home.” Said Knightowl, going to grab on of the Akuma victims.

Eagle nodded, and grabbed their arms, “Come on.”

Marinette shook with the deep, chesty coughs.

Adrien held a cup of water out to her, gently rubbing her back.

“It hurts.” Rasped Marinette, spitting out so phlegm.

“It’s a chest infection.” Said Alya, dropping onto the end of Marinette’s bed, “You had polluted water in your lungs for the better part of an hour. Thank god Uncanny Valley was there.”

“Thank god for Tikki’s bluff.” Responded Adrien, “Tricking Chloé and Lila into thinking that wearing bath earrings would destroy them.”

“I wasn’t bluffing.” Said Tikki, from Marinette’s hair, “If either of them had put on both earrings, then they’d be like a bag of soup.”

They were silent, excluding Marinette’s coughs.

“How can we be sure they won’t tell anyone?” Asked Adrien, looking between Alya and Marinette.

“Who would believe them?” Retorted Alya, raising her eyebrows, “Lila’s already a known liar and Chloé isn’t much better. Both of them are known for not being on civil terms with Marinette also.”

Adrien sighed through his nose, “I hope you’re right. Since Marinette can’t exactly defend herself now.”

Meanwhile, across the city, Lila had come clean to her parents and Chloé was speaking with a therapist.

Miraculous Fandom Stats

Miraculous Paris Special

I was wondering if the Miraculous Paris Special has generated more excitement than the other specials or is it just me connecting with my past punky girl?

I also wondered if this was measurable - and possibly translate to more fanfics on Ao3.

I’ve definitely seen a lot of art and have also gone on an art binge myself @hamsterdraws (but I don’t know how to quantitate posts on Tumblr). So here is my attempt to quantitate my obsession with these emo kids!

🖤 Fics Posted to Ao3

It’s only been since October 15, 2023 [1], but the preview was shown straight after the Season 5 finale in July. So overall there has been almost 6 months of speculation and hype surrounding the TV Special.

🖤 How does it compare against the other specials?

From my own opinion, I was way more excited about seeing the evil counterparts of my blorbos than seeing them do the same Lovesquare dance again. So is is just me?

I think the numbers reflect the positive uptake of the Paris Special. In the first two months alone there are twice as many fics as Miraculous Shanghai.

For a better comparison, I included the movie because it was released at roughly the same time the teaser trailer. Even though the characters were roughly the same in the movie as the TV show, they had slightly different personality traits.

The arrow indicates when the Paris Special was televised and the preceding months were based on the teaser trailer. At the time of posting, we are only halfway through December and more fics may be posted by the end of the year.

🖤 What did I learn?

On all appearances, Miraculous World: New York - United HeroeZ had more fanfics, but keep in mind that this was released in September 26, 2020 [3].

There appears to be an initial flurry of fanfics posted on Ao3 using tags for the Miraculous Special: New York, however this excitement has petered out gradually. While the Miraculous Paris Special has yet to reach that initial number, only two months has elapsed since it was publicly aired.

The Miraculous Movie on the other hand was released a few months before the Miraculous Special aired and it had generated much less fanfiction - or at least were not tagged [4-5].

In conclusion, it appears that the Miraculous Paris Special has been received well by the fans. I would be interested to see if this trend continues or if like the New York special, the fics will fizzle out.

Adrien Agreste is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Marinette Dupain-Cheng) of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and a major character of Miraculous World. He is a human-sentimonster created by his late mother Emilie Agreste from her emotions of love. He is a former student in Miss Bustier's class at Collège Françoise Dupont in Paris, France. He is also a former fashion model for his late father's brand.

With the Cat Miraculous, when inhabited by Plagg, Adrien transforms into the black cat-themed superhero Cat Noir ("Chat Noir" in the French version), gaining the power of destruction to stop Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch and his akumatized villains. He is the second-in-command of the French Miraculous superhero team.

In "Syren", after Master Wang Fu translates the Grimoire in order to find a way to give Ladybug and Cat Noir the ability to transform into different powered up forms, he is able to make the potion that grants the aqua form. Adrien is able to use it to become Aqua Noir, which gives him a specially modified aqua suit with fins on his feet, granting him the enhanced swimming capabilities, as well as allowing him to breathe and speak underwater.

In "Frozer" when the titular akumatized supervillain freezes over Paris to turn the city into his domain, Adrien uses Master Fu's Magic camembert to transform into Ice Cat, which gives him a specially modified ice suit with skates on his feet, granting him enhanced skating capabilities as well as allowing him to stand subzero temperatures.

In "Reflekdoll", Adrien temporarily obtained the Ladybug Miraculous, which, when inhabited by Tikki, would be able to transform him into a ladybug-themed superhero Mister Bug,[64] gaining the power of creation.[65]

In "Miracle Queen," after removing the Snake Miraculous from a brainwashed Viperion, Adrien unified the Snake Miraculous with the Cat Miraculous to become Snake Noir[65] ("Serpent Noir" in the French version).

In "Miraculous World: New York - United Heroez", after Mr. Ramier had been reakumatized into Mr. Pigeon for the 51st time, Cat Noir became Astro Cat to stop Mr. Pigeon from taking over the moon for him and his pigeons. Astrocat has the power to travel long distances swiftly via flight, including in space.

In "Ephemeral", after finding out the truth about his parents, Adrien, affected by an akuma, gave the Cat Miraculous to Shadow Moth/Shadow Noir and was akumatized into Ephemeral, a supervillain who made time faster or sped up the time it took for a Miraculous holder to detransform. Later, after Sass used Second Chance, Ephemeral was erased from the reality.

In "Kuro Neko", after giving up on being Cat Noir due to feeling unappreciated by Ladybug, Adrien was convinced by Plagg to create a brand new identity as a holder of the Cat Miraculous, becoming Cat Walker ("Patte De Velours" in the French version), even donning a brand new suit. He later returned to his original hero persona.

In "Evolution", after future Bunnyx was paralyzed during a fight against Monarch, Cat Noir took her Rabbit Miraculous and combined it with the Cat Miraculous to become Rabbit Noir so he and Ladybug could keep on fighting the supervillain and prevent him from changing the past or discovering their true identities.

In "Miraculous Paris", he was kamikotized by Betterfly into Celesticat, an angelic-cat-themed superhero to help Ladybug and Betterfly escape from Shadybug and Claw Noir.

In "Passion", to avoid Safari's venom bolts, Adrien temporarily used the Ladybug Miraculous and once again becomes Mister Bug.

In "Revolution", after seeing all the Parisians willingly stand up and fight injustice with their own hands and refuse to turn their backs on Ladybug and Cat Noir, Adrien evolves his powers, and now, he doesn't detransform after using his powers, and is able to cast as many Cataclysms as he pleases without the need to recharge. Then, he was sent to London by his father, and yet, shared a kiss with Marinette before leaving.

In "Representation", after being sent to London, Adrien returns to Paris as Astrocat hoping to find Marinette so he could tell her his identity and stay together but after being struck with Nightormentor's dust and the fear of putting her in danger, he backs off the idea and returns to London.

In "Conformation", when Monarch commenced his global plan against the French Duo, due to him knowing he wasn't in the right state of mind to wield the power of Destruction safely and the fears of his nightmares, Adrien sent Plagg back to Paris with the ring to help Ladybug.

In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat and wish, Adrien reclaims his Miraculous and rejoins Ladybug and their whole team in Paris.

I think Ladybug was just generally offended at the insinuation. Even if it was just a joke for the trailer, I imagine Ladybug saw it as some dumb headcanon that the writers had intended for their plot. A trailer usually lets the viewer in on the plot and that’s almost all we got that the show gave us.

I can understand Ladybug feeling defensive because she was like, “oh a movie about me and Chat Noir, cool” and then the trailer seems to spit in the face of the strong and unafraid persona she’s trying to build up. It probably didn’t help emotionally when Chat Noir (who knew whatever the plot took that point or whether it existed in the first place) agreed with him, which could’ve come off like Chat not being on her side or being totally okay with that plot point because he kind of has that “knight” mentality so he sees the point as something to give him that advantage, even if it’s just in fiction.

Plus, idk, the whole message feels weird, especially because it seems like a fandom criticism but it’s also said by an akumatized person, who we usually aren’t supposed to listen to, but then Chat Noir also backed him up so???

It’s not for any particular reason outside of volume (”Don’t Need Burrow” though specifically is just for convenience). I always felt bad for posting asks that contain very little substance (not the ask itself, but my response to it) because it crowds my posts and I worry that it overwhelms people. It just seems kinda lame to be like, “okay here are twenty asks today but eighteen of them contain an ask that’s one paragraph long.”

I don’t have any “method” or “rules” as to what gets to be in an ask explosion and what doesn’t, though length plays a large factor and also how much I like my own reply. It’s just a feeling, really; kind of a, “do I think this warrants its own post?”

I think it’s random. I’ve had to send some asks twice before, it has nothing to do with your/my blog I don’t think.

Some advice: at least if you’re on desktop, I’ve sometimes managed to retrieve the text in my ask by pushing the “Go back one page” button, which might save you from having to re-type it.

It almost amazing how much you see when you go back to previous episodes. You don’t really notice it as much until you’ve seen Season 3, and then you go back and it’s like, “o-oh.”

I get that feel. I think the difference with me is that Adrien doesn’t treat Kagami like he does Ladybug, which I’ve always taken to me that he’s in real love with Kagami (still definitely needs to work on it though) but not Ladybug.

FINALLY watched the Miraculous New York special (I’m late, I know) and guys, I cannot stop laughing about this:

Okay so, she is very clearly supposed to be a Wonder Woman/Captain Marvel mosh.

This is the Miraculous version of Batman.

And here we have the Justice League/Avengers. (I’m leaning more Justice League personally.)

So it makes sense that these two 

are dating, right? Because regardless of anything else that’s going on in the Batman comics, when it comes to the Justice League it’s always gonna be Batman and Wonder Woman, right?  (Seriously, this was like having all of my childhood ship dreams realized.)

So here’s where I start to find it funny.  Because Olympia’s design is clearly based off of Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel.  You know, the one played by Brie Larson?  The one who’s movie we all walked out of going, ‘oh yeah, they’re totally married.’

And then there’s Barbara Keynes, Knightowl as a civilian, 

who bears more than a passing resemblance to 

Maria Hill.  Director of SHIELD, played by Cobie Smulders in the movies where’s she’s Fury’s right hand woman and considered HYDRA’s number one threat.  

Why is this funny? you ask.  Because there’s no way that any of these women is straight (the characters because let’s be real, real people are boring and I know nothing of the actresses that bring these wonders to life).  So I just love the fact that someone in the Miraculous Ladybug design team was like ‘can this be anymore obvious? c’mon Marvel.’  And then realized that yes, yes it can be more obvious and proceeded to make it as such.  

And I am so here for it I’m still snickering two weeks after watching the darn thing.

tl;dr  They’re lesbians, Harold.  Marvel might be a coward, but Miraculous Ladybug’s gonna raise these kids right.

Zoe's Role in The Queen Bee and the Vesperia:

Hello my lovely Queen Bee and Vesperia stans, and welcome back to another post about my upcoming fanfic / AU: The Queen Bee and the Vesperia.

Last time, I posted what Chloe's role will be in the story and now it's time to give our other main character the spotlight; the one and only: Zoe aka Vesperia!

Her father, Mitchell Lee is poor/lives on low income and is only able to afford a one-bedroom condo

He finds Zoe one day on his porch as a baby with a distasteful note saying "Raise this whoever you are. Don't bother finding me." Mitchell, however has no problem with this as a he always wanted children of his own.

Mr. Lee makes his livings by doing street performances out in the NY streets and since she is a baby, Zoe ends up being taken care of by Olympia Hill and Barbara Keynes

When she does get older though, Zoe takes part in her father's performances and this is what inspires her to be an actress

Her childhood name is Honeybee or Sweet Little Honeybee called by her father as "she is sweet as honey and cute like a bee."

One day, when Mitchell goes into debt, he begs a very wealthy woman ( no doubt Audrey) to lend him money and he promises to pay her back. She agrees, but on one condition: Zoe must work for her back in Paris. Seeing no other option, Mr. Lee reluctantly agrees to do so.

At 5 years old, Zoe and her father have a tearful goodbye and he gives her two going away gifts: A small, folded letter and a stuffed bee whom they both name Mr. Buzzy.

Audrey loathes the bee stuffed animal, and states that it's "ugly as a wasp." Thus, inspiring to give Zoe a new, but cruel nickname: Vesperia or Wasp. In addition, she ends up having her own co-workers and contributors look down upon the NYC girl and treat her poorly as well.

Whenever feeling sad or lonely, Zoe will cuddle Mr. Buzzy for comfort and read the letter that her father gave her saying that no matter where they are, he will always be there for Zoe in her heart "my sweet little honeybee." The letter also promises that the two will see each other again, and it even has two photos of them together glued on.

And that’s all I have for now. I’ll admit, I gave Zoe a little more background since like most people, I do agree that she is a Mary Sue/is Mary Sueish, so I wanted to make it my goal to give her more of a depth in order to have more likable in the AU. Ironically, most of these kinda made them worse. ^^; 

I don’t know if I will be able to update or change out a few options, but for now, this is all I have.

The World Special Character's Rewritten

Below are the rewritten backstories for Fei, Jess, and Aeon

Aeon Hill:

Aeon Hill is an android built by Olympia Hill and sees both her and Barbra Keynes as her parents, and Jessica as her sister Aeon has a hero identity known as Uncanny Valley and is one of the members of United Heroez

Jessica Keynes:

From a young age, Jess' mother, Barbara Keynes, trained her to become the new Sparrow much to her other mom's, Olympia Hill, dismay When Olympia built Aeon, an android made specifically to act as a new hero which slowly devolved into becoming Olympia's daughter, that was when Jess finally become Sparrow for the first time (being 14) Jess likes being Sparrow, it wasn't like her mother forced her (she made it as clear as she could that if at any point Jess didn't want to be Sparrow up until her debut that she could stop) but at the same time, Jess felt like being Sparrow wasn't good enough The first few months were bliss, but slowly those feelings got worse and worse and now, at 17, she wished her mother would let her fly the nest

Wu Fei:

Fei was adopted at a young age by Bingwen, taking on his last name of Wu Bingwen was infatuated with his school and Fei followed his love of it, so much so that she became the sole heir to his school and learned all there was to learn She promised him she's protect his school and uphold his legacy She'd keep that promise even if it killed her (Note: Her adoptive father's name is never confirmed, so I had to give him a first name)
