Rip to all the Anakin apologists, but I love when guys are worse, actually. I fucking love when characters do Bad Things and are awful people. Big fan of The Atrocities, and an even bigger fan of understanding why the characters committed them. He's a terrible human being--Why did he become one? How does he justify it? Does he really believe he's right, or does he know and not care? What does he think about his crimes while committing them? What about after?

Aren't those question so much more interesting to answer than blaming everything he does on someone else? When you have a character this deeply fucked up and fascinating, it's basically character assassination to pretend he never did anything wrong. Like, come on, he's sinned, now have some fun with it

I feel like we can have “Adam enjoyers” so long as they acknowledge that what he’s done is atrocious. (Not saying that people like that don’t exist, but I hardly ever see them.) He was season one’s villain, yes, and he’s over-dramatic which makes him somewhat enjoyable, like a hate-to-love and/or love-to-hate type situation, but even with a redemption he isn’t, nor should he be, excused or now looked at through rose-tinted glasses. I, myself, look forward for season two to see what they do with Adam, but if they just have him as a recurring or dare I suggest main character, and either ignore or play off his wrongdoings as jokes, especially without him showing much remorse, then I’m going to start “officially” hating him. (Currently I’m hating liking him, but not “him” as in Adam, but rather “him” as in his character.)

Very picky about how people write reconciled Crowley and Rowena and even MORE picky over how people write reconciled Cas and Claire. These are the two absolutely devastating spn relationships that you just do not fuck around with in my opinion. Reconciliation plots for them can be done well but if you’re going in on either dynamic without giving the experience of both sides equal consideration then as a writer you have already lost

look i was raised hindu, and maybe it was obvious since so many of our stories involve people like this, but it's so weird that people get mad that abusive characters in fiction are also given redeeming qualities, and those redeeming qualities are elaborated upon in context of the person.

'it's abuse apologia-' no it isn't. it's about realizing that abusers aren't mustache-twirling villains, and how no amount of talent, skill and kindness you might have will ever excuse your harm. abusers are people; dehumanizing bad people and making them into caricatures ignores the reality that horrible people can and do lead lives that are upstanding in many ways.

I'll admit Im a little dissappointed bc Ive kinda been waiting for the moment where Dream starts to get a bit unhinged bc of the isolation affecting him and I thought this would be it but no. However, i think its like. ughhhhhh this is kinda hard to explain bear with me. So, I think Dream is very much the kinda guy who is like, fine being in solitude, just wandering around the smp completely by himself. Like Yeah, having some friends along is pretty nice and makes it more fun, but hes ultimately completely fine just being on his own. Being in prison on his own is lbviously a lot worse, but I feel like if there were no visitors allowed in his cell and Sam had installed some kind of automatic good delivery from the getgo and basically deprived him of human contact entirely, he would be like, fine if a bit bored for a good while until he'd either start slipping into depression or start having anxious fits bc he has A Thing with control and probably wouldnt take not knowing whats going on on his server for very long. Perhaps even a mixture of both, like the most awful mental illnes cocktail on earth or something

However, Sam did allow visitors and he didnt completely deprive him of human contact. People visit him like, maybe once every two weeks (excluding Ranboo here for the sake of simplicity) which means that Dream can never just get used to his isolation or Sam being the only person he can talk to. Hes constantly confronted with chances, opportunities to strenghten whatever feeble hold he still has on everyone else. He is powerless, desperately clinging onto whatever strings he can still pull and nothing is working, which basically results just results in a different flavor of the most awful mental illness cocktail on earth

Then we're gonna throw Quackity and physical torture into the mix later on and then its a mental decay speedrun babeyyyy

Genuinely so obsessed with how the ST fandom is a perfect microcosm of black and white thinking and an obsession with being Good and Moral and even Pure in your media consumption. If you like a character who does bad things, you are judged within an inch of your metaphorical life. There is nothing you can say that will change the minds of the haters. And if you tell them you think they're being cranks, they just double down. Like my guy I like him because the actor is hot and, as someone who went my entire childhood emotionally and verbally abused and reacted to that trauma with hostility, I relate to him. (Also you're constantly bringing up a point that is unfounded in the prevalence of his character as a gotcha.) I also happen to really like a character who's done nothing wrong, ever, not just cause he's a kid but because he's a sweetheart! These are not mutually exclusive. I am not a bad person for liking the former, nor good for liking the latter. I am just a guy watching a show and reacting to characters in ways that are informed by my life experiences. Get bent.

personally, I think people are allowed to ship a “toxic ship” as long as it’s fictional and they can separate fiction from reality. shipping a fictional “problematic ship” doesn’t mean you’re “abuse apologist” in real life. the same way people who enjoy fictional villains are not “murderers” in real life.

it’s okay if you think this ship makes you uncomfortable and so you personally dislike it. what you can and should do is avoid their contents and refrain from interacting with people who do ship them. that mute and block buttons are your friends.

what you shouldn’t do, though, is harass people who ship them and brag about how they’re “red flags irl” and how you’re “morally superior” simply because of fictional characters.

I promise you, minding your own business and not caring about what ship strangers on the internet ship will make your fandom so much less toxic and a whole lot more enjoyable.

the first time xiao dips his brush in ink, his mind goes blank. the cute couple date – that zhongli had advised to do – was simple. write a letter to each other. he lets his gaze linger at your concentrated frame, hunched over the piece of paper with your brush furiously scribbling away, so much so that there are remnants of ink on your wrists. he lets his eyes trail to the soft smile on your face, and he lets a hint of a smile return on his.

cooking with zhongli should not be that much of a hassle – but it is, which is why your household works on a you-cook-he-cleans basis. the kitchen is your place in the home, hell, you even have a name for your favourite spatula – 福, fill this household with the blessings that your spatula can help with. the most zhongli can offer is to wash the dishes and give you kisses while you cook.

dancing in the living room is cliche, but who's to say that cliche and enjoyment can't go hand in hand? kaeya dips you around as you squeal and laugh, him pretending to drop you and you grabbing on for dear life, for the dramatics of it all. the last golden rays of the hour dance around the room with the two of you, a dim stream of sunlight illuminating the smiles that the both of you wear together for a little bit longer.

diluc enjoys taking you out on sunset strolls around the manor. with a flame lightly dancing in his hand as the both of you walk, diluc is prepared to defend you at any given point in time. you playfully tug his hand, telling him to lighten up – the guards around the manor wouldn't let anything happen to the both of you. the sun's rays say it's last goodbye with a dramatic flourish of an exit, and he watches you while you bid the sun farewell.

nights in childe's house are usually spent with the both of you cosily cuddled up on the couch, his hand over your waist and his other running through your hair. your shared playlist is playing through the speakers, and you tiredly watch teucer and tonia run around. it's quietly comforting, thinking that this could be your future – your household, one day.

alhaitham holds you closer towards his chest as he shifts to make you more comfortable, the book you chose uncomfortably pointing into his knee. you laugh, close the book, and finally finish adjusting your positions before you turn to the page you last finished reading. alhaitham's quiet demeanor seems to blossom in this intimate setting, his voice setting the stage for the characters to come to life, as he reads aloud to the you. it's enchanting, watching him in his element.

Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel is concerningly a trojan horse of white feminism. White feminism identifies with white patriarchy and strives to find a place of power within it, whether or not they acknowledge white men would never see them as equals. This type of feminism enforces the same patriarchal values that hold them down.

On both shows, the male characters are favored, the actions of the shitty male characters are justified to be right and that they are to be sympathized with little to no regard to their victims that are made to be at fault for being being imperfect at reacting at the abuse they receive.

And what is most perplexing to me as an outsider, is that Medrano is supposed to be a victim of abuse by some guy, and yet identifies and upholds her abusive male characters. In her attempt to humanize them, she disregards the weight of their actions. Her actions with her ex-employees and ex-friends show that the victim became the abuser to regain a sense of power, which is typically what white feminism is.

I know I shouldn't be psycho-analyzing her as a distant observer, but I'm tired of people mystifying a suffering deer with fungal-mutated horns and not thinking there's something wrong with it and that it needs help.

No you’re completely right. Vivienne has shown for many years that she isn’t a girls girl. On the outside she’s tried to paint herself as pro feminism and that she cares about other women, when in reality she’s transphobic, has put other women down, and has slut shamed them in her work. She’s basically that obnoxious girl in middle school that acts like she’s a girls girl but in reality is constantly and desperately seeking male validation, like how she once made a tweet questioning why she hasn’t been acknowledged for being a famous female content creator in a world dominated by men even though there were many other female content creators before her that were already rising to the top. I never came out of watching or reading something she made and thought “she hates men”, cause she doesn’t. She hates women and it shows in how she writes them and uses them. Her males are allowed to be 3 dimensional yet 90% of her females are one note. Viv also caters to the male audience who lusts over her female characters and I don’t need to explain that one.

Meanwhile she hasn’t got a single favorite or popular female character. There’s a reason why for years she’s said her favorites are Alastor and Angel and how she loves writing Adam, hell…she confirmed Adam is her favorite HH character. She doesn’t care about her female characters and only her males, whom she can find enjoyment in, either woobifying or sexualizing them. I think it kinda tells you something when you learn that Val is supposed to be based on her abuser yet she constantly likes tweets by Val apologists and sexy/silly fanart of him.

Meanwhile (as everyone has been saying), her content is for white queers/white fujoshi’s, no one else. She tries so hard for some reason to act like she’s new and progressive, challenging the world that’s been dominated by white people and their bland perspectives, but she hasn’t really added anything new to the table, and the way her fandom (and she herself at this point) treats black people is fucking nuts.

I really cannot express how much this piece of work means to me! As corny as it sounds I really found this story at the perfect point in my life, I initially started reading the impulse 1995 comics when I was 14 and I ended up falling upon this story when I was 17 I just immediately fell in love! The concept was so creative and fit into the pre-existing plot line perfectly! All the new characters are so enjoyable to read, Nathaniel and Jude have such a wonderful and also sad dynamic, as a twin my self every scene with them just really hit me in the heart! Six especially in the first several chapters was so comically annoying and clearly insecure, in a way that I think a lot of us can relate to, one way or another especially when we got to here is internal monologue, I’ve always been a sucker for the asshole character with an air of insouciance and superiority, who by the end of the story, just ends up being a pretty all right guy! And Five oh my god five! I love this guy so much! he’s just so genuine and someone who clearly cares deeply, and him being technically the physically oldest in the room, but also being the one with the least amount of experience is a very literal take on an experience I think a lot of people have felt, myself included, And I think we all know I’m a Three apologist, his whole story is just so devastating and haunting, part of me is always rooting for him, whilst also being terrified for what he might do to the other characters, there is so much complexity with his relationships with the other characters, such as five and four, every time theirs a seen with three and four the writing always makes me feel so on edge and is really able to puts me in three’s shoes! And god! The way three and five interact is so sweet and sad there relationship is just too much! The last chapter absolutely destroyed me!! And Bart and Thad are so perfectly characterized it truly just feels like a natural progression of their characters, the way they both are just really struggling to deal with the inevitability of change hit me so hard, like I said I started reading the impulse comics when I was 14 so these characters have such a place in my heart, so now being able to read about them going through these struggles, when I was also experiencing a lot of change, is such a comfort to me, it was like in a way these characters got older with me, and you know it’s always nice to see some of your childhood characters going through the same stuff as you, currently being a slightly terrified 18 year old, it was great to be able to read about two other slightly terrified 18 year olds, anyways I wanted to post some of my sketches from the past few weeks, and don’t worry there are definitely more to come cause I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stop drawing these guys!

Summary: When a new Star Wars TV show called The Mandalorian premiered, you found yourself completely enamoured with the titular character. Enjoyment of watching the lone bounty hunter travel through the galaxy quickly turned to obsession. There was just something about the show that captured your imagination. Now, you spend much of your free time — when you're not working a fast-paced, minimum wage and incredibly stressful job at a prestigious London Museum— speaking to your online friends about your love for the show. There's just one thing... Despite how much you love The Mandalorian, no one knows the identity of the man behind the helmet... either in the show, or in real life. You only know him as Mando. No one has ever seen his face, no one knows his name.  Even after the countless hours of speculation from fans online, which even you have occasionally participated in, no one is any the wiser to the identity of the mysterious man who wears the shiny armour.  Surely, given the depth of your love for the show, you'd recognise if the man who you spend so much time obsessing over online was to ever cross paths with you. Right?

Content Warnings: Reader is AFAB, uses she/her pronouns and in her mid 20s. Age gap between her and Din is noted but not really central to the story. Grogu is human, hints of past trauma/child abuse before Din adopted him are mentioned but not described in detail. Set in London for a few reasons: partly because I love the movie Notting Hill and it has some of those vibes (if you squint), also, the village where Din lives is based on Elstree Studios just outside London, where the OT was filmed and ultimately because NO WAY was I writing a modern!AU set in the states, it would've been painfully obvious a Brit wrote it. While there are lots of references to places in London, I don't live there so it might not be truly accurate (Londoners don't come for me). Also, to be political for a sec, reader works at the British Museum and I hate that institution. This was actually the line of work I was interested in when I was at Uni but for many different reasons I did not pursue it. However, it works for the plot of this story and as you'll see, she doesn't exactly love it either and goes on a few rants. Just wanted to make that clear that her job there is not an endorsement of it or anything. I can't stand them or their historical apologist bs and I wish we would give back all the things we stole (including the Parthenon Marbles)! Finally, it was incredibly important to me that the actor behind Mando in this fic clearly be the fictional character of Din Djarin rather than the real person Pedro Pascal, because rpf is not my jam! I hope I did that pretty well but just wanted to warn that if you're expecting me to use Din as some kind of way to write a Pedro fic, this won't be for you! Okay, I'll shut up now! This fic is fully written, just needs editing so hopefully I'll get a couple of chapters up each week, but life happens.
