[Kim Dokja's Company has come!] Attention was concentrated on us in an instant. The huge amount of attention caused the walking party members to be embarrassed. Some of the constellations on the bridge even reached out towards us. Messages poured in from all over the place and placards swayed. [Handsome Kim Dokja!] [9158 FOREVER] I hoped that the party members wouldn't look at them but Jung Heewon spoke to me. "Dokja-ssi, are you an idol?"
SOMEONE SAID HE'S HANDSOME!!!!!
Finally, the true goal of ORV has been achieved. Imma stop reading now before someone has the chance to call him ugly again and ruin it. Gotta end the novel on a high note.
#actually it makes me wonder if the blur has silently disappeared in the background?#dokja literally just said 'look at me do I look special' and I honestly was expecting SOMEBODY to say he was ugly but no one did#and there was that whole idol comment from yjh a while back and how dokja doesn't want to look all dried out...#so maybe???#lol could also just be a stream watcher also getting upset on poor dokja's behalf and wanting to tell him that he's very handsome#don't listen to those jerks who call you ugly and mess with your self esteem dokja#orv#orv novel chapter 348#omniscient reader's viewpoint#orv liveblog#orv spoilers#kdj#jhw

Chapter 348: A Pawn Advances
“Congratulations,” Miles Bixby said. “You have successfully completed the background check and security interviews, and I’m quite comfortable with your abilities."
"Thank you, sir," the man said from across his desk. "I have done my best to prepare myself for a position like this throughout my career."
"You have done very well, then," Bixby replied. "In fact, in many ways you’re even better qualified for this position than I – though I like to think my experience counts for a great deal.”
“Of course, sir,” the man said, nodding. “I shall be fortunate to do half as well as you have in the role.”
“We shall see,” Bixby said. “If you can start on Monday, we’ll begin your training and evaluation period. So long as Prince Stephen is satisfied with your performance, we can begin discussing a transition of duties. My goal would be to leave service by September at the very latest.”
Bixby leaned forward and studied his proposed successor.
“I’m placing a great deal of trust in you, young man, and I sincerely hope you do not disappoint,” Bixby continued. “The duties you will be assuming will, in time, make you one of the most important men in Weston. But with that power comes great responsibility, and I expect you to live up to my – and, of course, Prince Stephen’s – expectations.”
Bixby pressed the hidden button under his desk and his aide entered through the office door.
“Take Mr. St. James to the chancellor’s office, Bryce,” Bixby said, rising. “He’ll need to fill out payroll information and sign a confidentiality agreement before he can start work.”
He stepped around his desk and extended a hand.
“I will see you Monday morning at 5 a.m., Mr. St. James,” he said. “I look forward to getting better acquainted.”
St. James stood and shook Bixby’s hand.
“As do I, sir,” he said. “As do I.”

Toga wanted to ask for blood. She wanted to ask Saito for blood.
In fact, outside of battle and missions where anything goes, I think Toga usually does ask before she stabs. She asked Deku for blood in Chapter 348.
And though this is omake, and I forgot whether this is official or not, she asks here too:
I’ve seen some previous meta that pointed out that all Toga needed was to understand consent (and to eventually find a tolerant group of kinksters). That is indeed a solution, but I think the examples above does show that Toga has at least the basic understanding of consent.
It’s just that the act of asking for it would’ve ostracized her. If she asked, it wouldn’t just be someone random calling her a freak; it would be the person she loves calling her a freak. It’s the ostracism that scared her more than a simple ‘no’.
Her parents hammered it into her head that any manifestation of her desire for blood makes her not human. So she was afraid to ask, and afraid to talk about it, and afraid to seek help or support for it; and it was bottled up inside of her until it exploded.
Not that her stabbing Saitou was okay, obviously. Her logic of ‘well, if I can’t ask, I might as well go for it’ is wonky.
But there’s a reason she functioned so well in the League. She could ask for their blood, and they wouldn’t judge her for it. Maybe they gave it to her, maybe they didn’t. But they never saw her as less.
And that’s what Ochako finally did here. She let Toga explain herself, she listened, she didn’t judge. Ochako even offered her blood— but note that it wasn’t the blood that got Toga to finally stop.
It was Ochako reassuring Toga that she still views Toga as human. And that’s what Toga wanted all along.

MHA 424 SPOILERS - Bkdk holy shit
People cannot fault bkdks for thinking bkdk might be canon cause the amount of content?? The deliberate choice to give Katsuki most of the love interest tropes?? Izuku controlling his heart and being reluctant to voicing out his more personal feelings to and because of Katsuki ?? The suspicious and constant marketing?? Giga Jump cover with pastel colours and cherry blossom petals, distinctly different from other Giga covers?? Bkdk and Ochaco’s Japanese VA’s joking about Katsuki being the “heroine”?? Horikoshi recommending romance manga, particularly “Blooming Love,” which has main characters that resemble bkdk?? Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki’s VA) making a BL manga (Boku no Kamikakushi) that has a childhood friends to lovers premise, with one of the main characters being named “Uzuki”?? The whole of Chapter 348 with the Katsuki sounding narration, telling us that Izuku’s oblivious to romantic feelings cause he’s a “damned nerd,” and the scenario Deku described to be romantic containing “holding hands” in an amusement park?? Bkdk’s Japanese Voice actors frequently being in amusement parks and posting abt them?? Bones’ change of heart, Bones’ change of heart. Ochaco’s All Might keychain, which was symbolic of her romantic feelings for Deku, becoming a symbol of her and Toga’s connection?? Katsuki having his own All Might themed card that also shares a connection with Izuku?? The fact that Hori cld’ve made the falling art canon, but instead made a distinction between Katsuki who, even when supposed to be at the hospital, flew all the way to Izuku to give him the final push and Ochaco who stays with the paramedics and cheers for Izuku from a distance?? The fact that it’s not even the first time similarities and distinctions were made between Ochaco and Katsuki?? Katsuki declaring that he envisioned a “forever” with Izuku??
It’s not even abt shipwars or abt who gets the most content, I am simply questioning the intent behind these choices cause they’re not pointing to the expected ending. Call me delusional but I’m sure it’s just not me who sees these all laid out. Like, I’m still trying to lower my expectations cause romance was never Hori’s focus—maybe his intention is to make them platonic soulmates and I will be fine with that—but dude. dude. The romance of it all is insane.
#bkdk#dkbk#rant#izuku midoriya#bakugou katsuki#togachako#bkdk canon#It’s just not me who is seeing this right…#me when I try to have low expectations but Hori throws curveball after curveball#this is a next level slowburn

Parallels between Gwyn and Az
People don’t often realize this, but Gwyn and Az have a lot of things in common. And imo, it points to Gwynriel. So let’s talk about it!
Dynamics with Nesta
They have similar dynamic with Nesta. It’s not identical but neither of them shy away from her bluntness like others do. They both seem to admire it and at some points, it gets Gwyn and Az to open up.
Page 251 of ACOSF: “Nesta watched the shadowsinger with a frankness that most people shied from. Azriel returned the look with the stillness that most people ran from.”
Page 114 of ACOSF: “ I don’t need to be coddled. Only spoken to like a person.” “I doubt you’ll enjoy the way I speak to most people.” Nesta said. “Gwyn snorted. “Try me.” Nesta looked at her from under lowered brows again. “Get out of my sight.” Gwyn grinned, a broad, bright thing that showed up most of her teeth and made her eyes sparkle in a way Nesta knew her own never had. “Oh, you’re good.” Gwyn turned back to the stacks. “Really good.”
Page 101 of ACOSF: “I hope you’re not giving my brother a hard time.”“Is that a threat, Shadowinger?” Azriel said coolly, “I don’t need to resort to threats.” Nesta gave him a smile, holding his stare. “Neither do I.”
Page 348 of ACOSF: “Nesta scowled, and Az offered her a slight smile. They could be allies, that smile seemed to say. Against Cassian’s utter insanity. She found herself answering Azriel with a slight smile of her own.”
Competitiveness
They’re both competitive. Cassian says that Az gets really competitive, and you can see the competitiveness in the bonus chapter where he has his plot to win the snowball fight.
Page 254 of ACOSF: “Azriel had a vicious competitive streak. Wasn’t boastful or arrogant… or possessive and terrifying…No, it was quiet and cruel and utterly lethal.”
Gwyn is super competitive with cutting the ribbon and when the Valkyries are doing the obstacle courses.
Page 624 of ACOSF: “Roslin, Ananke, and Deirdre were close on their heels, propelling Gwyn to push her group harder. She wanted to be the first. Wanted Nesta and Emerie and her to be the ones who wiped the smirks from Azriel’s and Cassian’s faces. Especially Azriel.”
Knowledge
They both get pretty fascinated by things, they both like to learn stuff. Cassian said that Az was really fascinated by the solar system and other-worldly stuff Rhys likes to research.
Page 37 of ACOSF: “At the far end of the room, a little dias led into a broad raised alcove…and in its center, a massive, working model of their world, the stars and planets around it…Az, of course, had been fascinated.”
Trauma / light and darkness
Quote page 113 of ACOSF: “If marks of trauma lingered, any evidence was hidden by her robe. But Nesta knew how invisible wounds could be how they could scars deeply and badly as any physical breaking.”
This is a really big one: Gwyn’s healing seems like the kind of healing Az had. Az was hidden in darkness and he was brought to the Illyrian camps which might have been the first time he saw true light in a while. He found Cassian and Rhys who took him in and they trained together. And Gwyn hid herself in the library for years and saw true light for the first time in a while and trained with Nesta and Emerie and found true healing and confidence in herself.
This quote really got me:
Quote page 272 of ACOSF: “Gwyn’s hands were shaking as she took another step into the ring and peered into the open bowl of the sky. The first time she’d been outside—truly outside—in years. She met Nesta’s gaze and smiled. "I forgot how it feels to have the full sun upon my head. Forgive me if I spend some time gawking at the sky.”
I can just imagine Az having a similar reaction when he’s at the Illyrian camps for the first time. A little 11 year old unsure of how to hold his wings up right just…looking up at the sky. And he’s hiding his hands.
The main difference with this is Az was locked up in the darkness and Gwyn chose to be in the darkness, but I think the fact that light and darkness are key parts of their healing process is important to note.
Fear of making mistakes, and their loyalty to loved ones
Another super significant thing about them is their sense of loyalty to the people who took them in, and their fear of making mistakes and failing.
This quote from Gwyn really got me because it just screams Azriel to me.
Quote page 148 of ACOSF: “because I don’t like to fail I can’t…” Gwyn shook her head. “I don’t want to make any more mistakes.” “These females took me in. Give me shelter and healing and family.” Again, her large eyes darkened. “I cannot stand to fail them in anything.”
That just seems so much like Az. Rhys and Cassian took him in, gave him shelter and healing and family, so he’s super loyal and he hates when he fails them. Az seems to often feel guilty when one of the plans goes wrong; he thinks he didn’t do as much as he could have.
Page 346 of ACOWAR: ”Hybern had made its grand move at last. And we had not anticipated it. I knew Azriel would take the blame upon himself. One look at the shadowsinger…told me he already did.”
Unworthiness
Another thing is they feel unworthy. You can see this with Gwyn and her invoking stone she says she doesn’t deserve to wear it, she is ashamed of her history and is afraid of people finding out things that she hates about herself.
Quote page 173 of ACOSF: “Why don’t you wear that stone on your head like the others?” Gwyn pocketed the gem. “Because I don’t deserve to.”
Page 521 of ACOSF: “I understand,” Gwyn repeated, “what it is to fail the people who mean the most. To live in fear of people finding out. I dread you and Emerie learning my history. I know that once you do, you’ll never look at me the same again.”
Page 696 of ACOSF: “But even training these months hasn’t erased the fact that I let my sister die. You asked me once why I don’t wear the hood of the Invoking Stone. That stone is a sign of holiness. How can someone like me wear it?”
That’s just so similar to Az I feel like, specifically this quote in the bonus chapter where he feels like his hands are tainted and that he’s unworthy of touching her.
ACOSF bonus chapter: “She looked up at him, her face so trusting and hopeful and open that he knew she had no idea that he had done unspeakable things that sullied his hands far beyond their scars. Such terrible things that it was a sacrilege for his fingers to skin, tainting her with his presence.
He also feels guilty for not doing enough, to fail the people around him. You see this with Mor a lot.
Page 429 of ACOWAR: ”As Azriel turned his face toward me—The frozen rage rooted me to the spot. But beneath it, I could almost see the images that haunted him: the hand Mor had yanked away, her weeping, distraught face as she had screamed at Rhys.”
Now kind of diverting from the topic: I see people make debates about why Gwyn thinks she’s unworthy. There are theories that she’s actually an inside spy for Koschei and maybe she feels guilty for that but there’s literally a quote that says she thinks she let her sister die and that she’s guilty that she lived and her sister didn’t. I dislike the evil Gwyn theories, I think they’re gross. I also kind of think her SA made her felt tainted, that’s a very common thing among SA survivors.
Coping skills / being unbreakable
And this is kind of a looser connection than the others I mentioned but we see moments from both where they tell themselves that they are unbreakable or hard to break. When Gwyn cut the ribbon, she quoted the Valkyrie mindstilling technique:
Page 621 of ACOSF: “I am the rock against which the surf crashes. Nothing can break me.”
"Nothing can break me" is something that Gwyn added, it was not part of the original Valkyrie passage. And it reminded me of something that Az says to Feyre when they are doing their flying lessons in ACOWAR.
Azriel tells Feyre Page 305 ACOWAR: “You’re immortal. You’re very hard to break. That’s what I told myself.”
The Blood Rite, friendships, and healing journey
And this similarty pertains to the Valkyries and the batboys in general, not solely Az and Gwyn, but the Valkyries during the blood rite is a reflection of the batboys during their blood rite. It was the beginning of their journey when it came to healing and finding their strength and proving people wrong. It was a pivotal point in their friendships, both groups fought like hell to reach each other.
Page 693 of ACOSF: “I don’t want to take the safe road. I want to take that road. To prove to them, to everyone, that something new and different might triumph over their rules and regulations.”
And this is the start of Gwyn’s journey, this is the start of her friendship with Nesta and Emerie, who have become very important to her. She’s still struggling with her fears, she tells Nesta that she might come out of the library to go to her mating ceremony.
And Az is kind of similar. He has had centuries to heal and be with his brothers. But he is absolutely still healing, he’s got tons of issues to sort out still. You can say they’re aloof and they lock themselves up in a similar way: he doesn’t seem to want to go out to bars and parties unless his friends go.
Page 377 of ACOMAF: “And when I pointed out that he did go to Rita’s with her whenever she asked, Mor simply informed me that it had taken her four centuries to get him to do that.”
He seems content to brood but he opens up because of his friends.
Differences
There are obviously tons of differences, I think the main ones being Gwyn is significantly more joyful than Az, she smiles and laughs a lot while it’s very rare to see Az smile or laugh. He’s super broody and aloof. Gwyn seems to open up a lot more easily. She has a lot of hope. She doesn’t seem to want to suppress herself. Even though she struggles she is trying to break free.
Page 524 of ACOSF: “ Nesta had never heard a voice like Gwyn’s—by turns trained and wild, as if there was so much sound fighting to break free of Gwyn, but she couldn’t quite contain it all. As if the sound needed to be loose in the world.”
And with Az: literally impossible to get him to confess anything. There are a lot of things that Cassian doesn’t know about his brother. He is content to brood. He shuts his feelings down until they build up to a point where they almost explode sometimes. There are some points where he suppresses his shadows on purpose, I feel like. I don’t know how his shadows work but he can control them at some points.
I feel like whether or not you believe these parallels point to Gwynriel, you can’t deny that they are very similar and can be very good friends and heal together because of that.
But also, Gwynriel is endgame 🤷♀️

I’m having a breakdown. So the back cover of volume 37 is out, and by now we’ve all heard the preliminary translations of Edgeshot’s spiel to Kacchan.
But we didn’t have the images! Now we do, and I have Observations. Please note that I have used a combo of Google image translate and Japanese language websites for this. I don’t read Japanese but I’m fascinated by language and can’t help analysing it.
Firstly, I just want to comment on how bloody romantic the last line is, “Connect yourself to your future where you dreamed of your ideal”, considering he does exactly that, and thinks only of Izuku.
Risō: Ideal
Yumemita: Dream
Mirai: Future
Jishin: Self-confidence, assurance
Tsunaide: Link or connect (as if tied together—nice)
Misero: Show
Gorgeous, beautiful, fantastic work Edgeshot! It also really reminded me of Jeanist’s line to him about his hero name being a representation of his ideal self. These Heroes care about him so much 😭😭😭.
BUT, but but but, the part I really want to talk about is “Omae ga matsu kare wa… Deku wa kanarazu kuru!”
Omae: very informal ‘you’. Edgeshot is literally inside him so I think he’s allowed to be casual.
Matsu: Wait or look forward to
Kare wa: ‘He is’ or ‘boyfriend is’ (bear with me)
Kanarazu: Without a doubt
Kuru: Come or arrive
The sentence is very deliberate in the way Edgeshot says “He is… Deku is definitely coming.” So, what’s interesting about that? I WILL TELL YOU.
In Japanese it’s unusual to use pronouns, which is why you hear Deku saying ‘Kacchan’ directly to Kacchan all the blinking time. If it’s obvious who you’re talking by about via the context, then they don’t say he/she/they/you if possible. Here, have some evidence from translation websites and Japanese speakers:
So we already know Edgeshot is being extremely casual from his use of ‘omae’, and ‘kare’ is a casual term for boyfriend. It is unusual for him to unnecessarily use a pronoun that could also be interpreted as a reference to Deku as his boyfriend, no? He could have very easily just said “Deku is definitely coming!” without adding that ambiguity, But He Did Not.
I just think it’s interesting. And I do believe I will be thinking about this for the rest of the manga.
Edit to add:
1) Yes, ‘kare’ is the pronoun used to refer to Deku in the infamous 348 narration. 👀
2) ‘Tsunaide’ is also used in that same chapter, when Deku describes a boyfriend as someone you hold hands with: “te wo tsunaide”.
I’m not saying either of these things mean anything, it’s just interesting! * shakes uncontrollably *

Dekus no good, very bad, faceplant into masculinity and internalized homophobia
I made this a thought post from chapter 402 originally, but I can’t let these thoughts fester any longer. Gotta be correct about it 🫶🫶🫶
Alright so when I originally talked about this on a couple of platforms (not just tumblr, tiktok too and a bit on Twitter that has no connection to this account lmao) I feel like people told me that I was “stretching” with my assumptions.
But then Toga’s backstory being told to Ochako was… directly referenced to a queer allegory. And in 394, she directly says that she likes girls. It’s the thing said last, implying it’s something she’s still ashamed of feeling.
This chapter basically confirmed in my mind that Himiko’s blood quirk was the equivalent to the homophobia that was probably in her own household. And in my mind, that means that blood quirk = metaphor on her queer experience.
And then suddenly, the pieces clicked into place.
In 348, Izuku disagrees with Himiko and Ochako’s ideals—not only at the idea of girly romance, but also at unconventional romance.
Ochako has distanced herself due to Izuku’s inability to confront his own feelings. Shown both physically and metaphorically.
Ochako took all the steps to walk away because from Izuku. Because Izuku held her back.
Or more rather, she realized that Izuku was no allmight, but rather just an average boy in need of saving as anyone else. He is someone who’s flaws cannot align with Ochako’s own ideals for a relationship.
Because ochako is weird.
Izuku holds her back. She can’t be everything she needs to be while around him.
And that’s something Izuku’s not going to understand, not like how she needs him to understand.
And Himiko knows who Ochako is on a more fundamental level than Izuku ever will, and that’s okay.
I feel like whenever I talk about these character flaws having to do with Izuku, it almost sounds like I’m bashing him? I swear, I’m not, it makes complete sense as to why he is this way. And there are people (Katsuki) in the world who can have this in a relationship under the right communication, and some people can’t. And that’s just how we exist. That’s okay. We don’t all have to be compatible with everyone.
Back to the main point, the pieces and the people putting those pieces together were starting to see their parallels.
Even the manga placement parallels them, especially with how clever I feel horikoshi can be with his paneling.
Looking down, looking up. Both three quarter angles. Small mouth expression, big mouth expression. And that blush.
Fake smile when unhappy. Falling for someone who is dying, who you’d do anything for, even toe the line of death defending them, fixing them—just because you can’t help but love someone you wish had walked into your life sooner (or in Izuku’s case, accepted into your life sooner).
Someone you’d sacrifice for. Someone you’re violent for. Someone you’d kill for.
Someone you’d rather let an entire population of people die for than live without.
Someone you’re undeniably, unequivocally, selfish for.
And yet Izuku doesn’t recognize his same symptoms of love through Himiko Toga as Ochako does.
Himiko must be dehumanized to Izuku, because if she’s a person, then she is him.
(What’s even more interesting about this panel, is that if the characters were reversed and it was about Izuku’s violent feelings over protecting Katsuki, danger sense would be going off constantly. So toga is the perfect counter, but Izuku is the ultimate weakness.)
So, okay, how exactly do these things matter? How does this have to do with Izuku’s own personal struggle over his masculinity?
I think what’s important to clarify here is that when I say “internalized homophobia”, I don’t mean that he necessarily is beating himself up over the fact that he likes a boy instead of a girl.
I think it’s connected to his fear of rejection, and his own personal issues having to do with remaining a “strong man” instead of a “weak man”.
Izuku may not believe that liking men is anyone’s business but his own, but does Katsuki think that?
Izuku has called his feelings of admiration gross. Not that he himself is an awful person for feeling them, but that Katsuki will be the one to think they’re gross. And he’s worked so hard to get to this point in their relationship, he doesn’t wanna let it go over some stupid feelings.
And this is where toga comes into the picture, his parallels between her, because just how is Toga supposed to know that Ochako isn’t judging her for her feelings? Technically, all of the things she’s said before the final fight between them have only proved the inevitable. That Toga is gross, a freak, a predator, a danger, because she loves a woman.
How is Izuku supposed to interpret being called a stalker by Katsuki? How is he supposed to interpret when people call him creepy for his muttering and analyzation? How is he supposed to interpret being called a crybaby by his idol, Katsuki, and everyone else when he cannot control that?
How can he handle feelings that are out of his control, and still believe that they’re okay?
And at the very least, even if homophobia doesn’t exist in mha, heteronormativity does. Especially shown through Ashido, a straight girl.
None of that is necessarily Allmight, Katsuki, or even Ochako’s fault, because of course they’re just teasing him—but it doesn’t change the fact that it affects how he perceives himself.
So when I say that Izuku has problems with internalized homophobia, I mean that he is afraid of how the people around him will perceive him, than a constant feeling of self hatred due to not liking women.
And when I say that his internalized homophobia is an extension of his masculinity, I mean that because he has no confidence in himself and his more vulnerable emotions, he is unable to accept what or who he is. This ofc affects the people around him, like saying that Ochako CANT be weird because she’s just “so amazingly normal” without realizing that he’s just downplaying who she is and what she thinks, or dehumanizing the most openly queer character in the series because it benefits the perception he has of himself, or even silently rejecting Katsuki’s feelings simply out of a need to “control his heart and control his quirk”.
In Izuku’s mind, the only way to keep Katsuki is to not be the weird kid he was in his childhood. In a way, Izuku is still performing for Katsuki.
#so. hello.#ME ACTUALLY POSTING AN NOT REBLOGGING ADVENTURE TIME??? not as rare as you think..#I really should’ve wrote this more focused on allmight#bc that’s where a majority of the MASCULINITY ISSUES come from#but I’ve missed talking about them a lot okay y’all#bkdk#togachako#midoriya izuku#mha deku#bkdk brainrot#bakudeku#bakugou katsuki#bnha deku#mha analysis#deku midoriya
