#changing genres is fun!

like three people have asked if it's weird that beyonce is releasing a country song. i am the wrong person to ask about this, not because i'm a writer who thinks all artists should play around with genres at least once in their lives, but because i'm a geek who grew up with clamp manga. back then, it was anyone's fucking guess what genre a clamp manga was gonna be when it got announced and i honestly miss that sense of mystery in fandoms.

So, a changeling is sort of like a p-zombie?

(For the unaware, “p-zombie” stands for “philosophical zombie”. It’s a thought experiment in philosophy that describes a being that’s outwardly identical to a human, but does not have a consciousness; that is, a p-zombie does not think whatsoever, although it looks like it thinks to an outsider observer. There’s a whole wikipedia article on it that explains the concept better than I can!)

They don't exactly think, as in "I dont want this" "I like that". But, Changelings do have a form of "Consciousness". It's just that their consciousness is more like a series of commands or tasks than actual formulated thoughts.

Timmy's Changeling has a very advanced "consciousness". It can predict future actions and reroute its tasks to pick only the best options for its situation.

We fill their heads with static to ensure that the Changeling does not form thoughts about anything. Thoughts leads to opinions, and opinions leads to incorrect actions. A proper Changeling should have more static in their mind than a TV screen on a defunct channel!

Something I find super interesting going back and playing A Link to the Past is that it was really the first game to delve more into the lore behind Hyrule instead of just the Triforce, and I find it so interesting how in the beginning of the game, when Link goes to approach the Kakariko Village elder about the Master Sword, his wife (I assume?) talks about Hylians as if they're extinct!

In the legend she tells to Link, she says about how "Long ago, a prosperous people, known as Hylians, inhabited this land... Legends tell of treasures with mystical powers that remain from the Hylian age..." and she talks as if Hylians are already long long dead and the elven-like inhabitants of Hyrule (such as herself and Link and Zelda) are a completely different race of people - likely just humans.

I find it kinda cool and interesting that Nintendo went back and made it so that from future games onwards, the elven-like race of Hyrule is a sub-classification of human that are Hylians, basically scratching out that bit of lore.

Apparently they made a next generation wizards of waverly place and the guy who played the eldest brother is not only acting in it as a magic teacher (the job he got when the original show ended) he's also a producer on the show. Idk to what extent but it seems like he's a pretty big creative force in its production. good for him, it's a nice change of pace to see a disney actor actually get to influence how the show they're in is made.

well i def won't exclude the possibility i might just suck ass at using him, and a lot of things are up to preference

that being said i think my preference is to not use him in really fast songs because uhhhhhhh.
