Heyyy! could I request a dealer! Remus and autistic reader where r doesnt really how much of a catch she is and cant really pick up on the signals when someone else is flirting, and they are at a party where remus is selling and comes back to see r being flirted with and totally oblivious because she’s just being herself and remus intimidates the flirter? If not that’s totally okay!
You’re sitting pretty on your sofa, headphones around your neck as you speak to one of Remus’ customers.
You’re in the dispensary with Remus, needing the cool ac in the hot summer more than anything. Usually you’d sit in his office, but the place had been empty when you came out and you wanted to see him.
His friend had been waiting for Remus to finish weighing the ounces and bag edibles and while he’d been waiting he’d caught a glimpse of the book you were reading and started asking questions.
It’s your weakness. Being asked about your special interests, so you’d answered.
“It’s a book about the fae. The different types and where they’re linked to.
You sit on your heels, looking up at the man as he nods. “So like brownies, changelings and all that?”
You nod, a grin splitting your face. “Well changelings aren’t actually fae,” you brush a strand of hair away from your face. Your pigtail braids coming undone.
The man feigned surprise. “They aren’t?” He watches your eyes light up, you shake your head. You tilt your head before you start speaking.
“They say people in Scotland called them changelings because the babies didn’t look like regular babies. Most likely because they had Down Syndrome and they people didn’t understand-“
The man stutters his next question out, he can’t stop looking at your eyes or the way you keep your head tilted as you go from looking at your book and then up at him.
Remus comes into the room before you can say more, handing the bags to the man with a small frown. He doesn’t know how you never notice his customers falling in love with you.
“Everything’s sorted.” Remus takes the money from the man and all but pushes him out of the dispensary as he says,
“It was nice talking with you, love.”
When Remus comes back to you he smiles as he sees you back to reading.
“He was flirting with you, y’know.”
You look up, confusion written all over your face. “No he wasn’t?” Your statement comes out like a question. Remus chuckles and lays beside you.
“He was, couldn’t stop looking at your lips. Plus he was stuttering like a fool because you were looking at him.” You roll your eyes, looking down at yourself.
“But I’m not even wearing anything cute.”
Remus snorts, “I hardly think that matters when you look good in everything, pretty girl. Glad I snatched you up when I did.”
You scrunch your nose, you’re in a yellow sweater that says, ‘mental health matters,’ a black skirt and stockings with your black Mary Janes - an outfit in your regular rotation.
“You think so?” You ask, fiddling with the sleeve cuff of your sweater. Remus twists, head raising so he can kiss the beauty mark under your jaw.
“Know so, dovey. Gonna have to keep you in the office if every one of my customers is gonna flirt with you.” Remus isn’t serious, but he likes making you flustered.
You giggle, cupping Remus’ jaw. You don’t have to say it, he’s never doubted you. You do it anyway.
Remus’ heart warms, “I’ll never flirt back, just want you.”

carry them home (7)
warnings: illness, arguing, mentioned unwilling disordered eating, stressful situations, threats
-
It was good that Vee was so light, because Janus found himself carrying the changeling all the way back.
At first, he’d thought that perhaps the episode was less severe, since it hadn’t involved the gut-wrenching shrieks that he’d witnessed before, but the theory had fallen flat as the minutes dragged on. Back then, Vee had at least been coherent, talking and standing on his own shortly after the vision had run its course.
Whatever Vee was Seeing this time, it was taking far more out of him.
By the time Janus returned to the campsite, the soothsayer had fallen into a dazed, unresponsive state, staring right through Janus with that strange oil-spill substance still spilling from his eyes.
The other children didn’t react well.
“Put him down this instant!” Ro commanded furiously, the air warping with the force of the heat he was emitting.
Apparently, Vee hadn’t even deigned to inform them of his plan before gallivanting off with their pet hostage. Janus wished he had enough time to be properly annoyed about that little detail, but he sincerely doubted that they’d truly lost the Iron Guard. They could be relentless when they knew they’d caught the scent of a fae, and there were more ways than one to track quarry.
Especially when that quarry kept dripping an easily-followed trail of black ichor.
“The Guard is coming,” he replied, crouching low enough that he could convince his oath that he’d moved Vee down, and thus technically followed the order. “We have to move, or we’ll all be caught. Can Logan walk?”
“Wow! That’s awfully convenient,” Remus chimed in as he advanced, smiling with far too many teeth. “Lemme guess, you’ve got a place for us to head, too? Too bad you brought back our soothsayer all dazed and confused so he can’t check and see if it’s a trap or not.”
Janus resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. The two of them may have looked extremely similar, but they wore their anger in very different ways. Very inconvenient ways, since it would make it that much harder to convince the both of them with words alone. Patton wasn’t even present, probably busy watching over Logan if his condition really was as bad as Vee’s vision had foretold.
“What did you do to him?” Ro half-shouted, staring at Vee with blatant horror. His fists were clenching and unclenching at his sides, but he didn’t get closer, didn’t try to touch Vee or snap him out of his distant-eyed state. Was he afraid to get too close to Janus, or just to anyone?
“He took me to the town to get medicine,” Janus explained shortly, attempting for a moment to tug one of the packets from Vee’s grip to no avail. “We ran into a Guardsman on the way out, and Vee had an episode right in front of him, so they’re no doubt in pursuit. I am under oath to be honest about movements of the Iron Guard and other dangers to you all, and even more vitally, I will face the same danger as you if I’m caught aiding a gaggle of especially undersized fair folk, so can we move past the suspicion in time to make it out of this alive, please.”
Ro was bristling, sparks spiraling off of his skin, but Remus had stalked close enough to squash Vee’s face between his hands, and whatever he noticed there seemed to convince him of something.
“Specs can’t walk,” he said bluntly, ignoring the startled-offended crackle from Ro. “Lean forward, and I’ll take you to him.”
Ro was the one holding the blood oath’s leash, but Janus didn’t have any interest in forcing their hands. He bowed his head and leaned in, ignoring every shrieking instinct that told him to duck away as small, dusty hands planted themselves on either side of his forehead, fingers pressing against his temples firmly enough to make his skull ache.
The discomfort was almost enough to obscure the prickling sensation of something small and gritty being smeared against his skin. He jerked back slightly, and Remus released him, smiling that shark grin again.
“If you betray us, I’ll push a bunch of spores into your brain matter and grow zombie mushrooms out of your skeleton while you’re still alive,” he informed Janus, looking all too thrilled at the prospect.
Janus stared at the kid for a moment, trying and failing to find the appropriate emotional response to this information. “Wonderful. So be it. Are you satisfied? Can we escape a horrible, painful fate now, or would you like to sit here and add more restraints to the only human helping you on this entire continent?”
Remus cackled a little, something unrepentant and near-manic in his gaze. “Someone’s feeling bitchy!”
Janus couldn’t help the face he pulled at that, but neither twin reprimanded him for it, or for rising back to his feet with Vee still safely in his arms.
The sparse camp was already packed up, and they ducked further into the thick brush until a small, thorn-protected space amidst the trees revealed itself.
“Guys! You’re okay!” Patton was inside, and even his clear relief at seeing Vee and the twins unharmed couldn’t hide the way worry still hid in the wrinkles of his forehead.
At his side, Logan lay on his back, wings spread out on either side of him, his breathing heavy and strained. There was the damp shine of sweat on his skin, a raspy quality to each exhale, and despite the rustle of their arrival, he didn’t even twitch. He was in no state to go anywhere.
Janus swore mentally, and knelt to try and set Vee down on his feet, praying that the kid at least had the presence of mind to stay upright.
Vee kept his feet for about ten seconds after Janus let go, and then he was wavering to one side and his legs were crumpling beneath him, and Janus hissed out a swear as he caught the kid’s bony shoulders before he could topple completely.
“Language!” Patton said, but it was half hearted at best, and not a direct command anyhow, so Janus didn’t pay the comment any attention.
He glanced over the lot of them, and knew that there was no way any of the three would be able to haul even one of the two unconscious members without being slowed down far too much.
“Are you going to say we should leave one of them behind?” Remus asked, neck cracking uncannily as he tilted his head at a discomfiting angle. He hadn’t stopped staring at Janus with wide eyes and rigid posture, like a hunting dog straining at the end of a leash. “Are you going to try and make us choose?”
“If you would stop putting words with horrifying implications in my mouth, I would appreciate it oh-so much,” Janus replied, sharper than he should have. He inhaled, closing his eyes briefly, and then shed his coat and wrapped it loosely around Vee’s shoulders. “Help me get him onto my back.”
Remus narrowed his eyes slightly without losing the smile, like he was thinking of refusing just to be contrary, and it was Patton who stepped forward and took Vee’s weight while Janus turned around and crouched.
With a little maneuvering, they managed to get Vee propped up on Janus’s back, and he tied the arms and ends of his coat around his front, creating a sort of makeshift sling. It wasn’t exactly comfortable, but Vee remained solidly in place even when Janus took a few testing steps and turns, so it would have to be good enough.
“Alright, pick up whatever you’re not leaving behind,” he instructed, and carefully slid a shoulder under Logan’s shoulders, pushing him up into a sitting position so he could carefully fold his wing closed.
Patton, who apparently traveled light, hovered anxiously for a moment before ducking forward to mirror the action on Logan’s other side. “You’ll be careful with him, right? He may be birdlike, but that doesn’t mean he’s untweetable, okay? We won’t give up, right?”
“I certainly wouldn’t be going to all this trouble if I meant to give up,” Janus told him, keeping his voice as soft as he could manage in the face of the kid’s obvious distress. “Vee got the medicine for him. All we need is a safe place to administer it, and the quicker we move, the faster we can make that happen.”
Patton nodded, those strange square pupils locked on his friend’s limp form. “Okay. Okay, got it.”
Logan’s expression pinched slightly as Janus wrapped an arm under his shoulders and wings, with the other looping around his knees, but he didn’t wake from the jostling. Probably for the best, seeing as Janus wasn’t the most reassuring face for him to see at the moment.
Janus braced as he moved to stand, only to find that Logan was startlingly light for his size. Hollow bones, possibly? He breathed a quiet sigh of relief as he hefted the kid fully into his arms, the task ahead feeling slightly less daunting.
There was a foreboding weakness in his arms, the result of too many skipped meals, but tucking Logan closer to his chest took some of the strain off, and Janus forced his mind away from it. No use in dwelling when there was nothing to be done.
“We’ve got to go. The town was south, so our heading should be any direction other than that. I’d advise sticking close to— no, wait, running water. I’d advise we head away from the river as well, so we don’t get pinned. Other than that, stealth is our best advantage.” He turned to face the three kids that were still on their feet. “Does anyone know how to cover tracks?”
A moment of silence, and then Ro hesitantly held up a flickering hand. “I could start a fire?”
Janus considered it, despite Patton’s unhappy expression at the idea. “Too risky. A single wrong turn, and we’d be in just as much danger.”
That, and he doubted Ro had the control necessary to keep the fire spreading into something catastrophic. The less people they had out for their blood, the better.
“It’s alright,” he said instead. “As long as we move fast and keep moving, it won’t matter if they can find our trail. I imagine Logan will be able to cast something to disguise it once he’s recovered.”
There were the right words. A little of their unease faded, and Janus turned and started off.
“Hey, wait!” Ro called, and Remus appeared at his side between one blink and the next. “Where are we going?”
“Away,” Janus emphasized, and then nodded at the forest ahead. “I can barely see past Logan, let alone pull out or read a map. I’ve given you all my advice, you’re the ones who should lead.”
He tried not to think about what the spores along his temples might do if the Guard caught them, if it seemed for even a moment that he’d betrayed them. No use dwelling, no use dwelling.
Remus was still watching him like a puzzle that needed to be figured out, but Ro had brightened at being put in charge of a task, and Janus followed in his heated-air wake, trying to keep his focus on the here and now.
Logan shifted slightly in his arms, turning his face against Janus’s torso as though attempting to hide from the sunlight. He made a small, raspy chirping sound before settling again, feathery ears at a less harsh angle than before.
He’d outmaneuvered the Guard before, and that was with only his life on the line. With his current burden, there was no other acceptable option than to repeat the feat.
No matter the cost.

If you only started writing laoft now, would you make any changes?
Tbh, it would be completely different. With sanders side now having a canonical set of twins, the odds are that I would have put Remus and Roman in Logan and Thomas's place, and I am eternal LAMP and Dukeceit trash, so those probably would have been end game. At that point no matter what else I do the end result would resemble laoft about as much as laoft resembles The Darkest Part Of The Forest
Which is to say a lot on the surface, but holly black and I were communicating fundamentally different themes. And the sheer amount of lost minutiae - Would I have even stuck to the changeling/autism parallel when the twins fit ADHD better? If Logan is a witch and May's grandson, where would I have put Thomas? Or would there be a May at all, when I so carefully crafted her as soil for Roman specifically to grow in? I don't know what Familiar I would have given him off the top of my head, but it's not a cat and it's not Dizzy
If the end goal is dukeceit, would I have made janus the Serpent king at all, or instead another student? Is *he* the witch? If so that still begs the question of where we put Logan, who If not the changeling suddenly becomes extraordinarily hard to pin down
I tooled around with outlines and drafts of laoft for a full 8 months before I posted every other page is a mirror and I would probably still do so. But after 8 months of tooling built on a completely different foundation? I truly have no idea

Autism Acceptance
Prompt day 3: April 3
Historical AU
Word count: 1010
@wolfstarmicrofic
Remus sat on the wall that he was told to sit on. He wanted to be good. He did. He sat there like he was told and didn't move.
His da had woken with him early that day and like they had for the last few weeks, walked the trail from the house to the forest.
But this time they turned down a different trail. Remus hadn't wanted to go down that path, it wasn't the one they always did that eventually looped back towards their small home.
Yet his father insisted with a tight hand on his forearm until Remus eventually followed.
But he started to get bored and he needed to wiggle. He wanted to go, to go back to his mam and his wooden animals.
That was until the bird landed next to him. It strutted around for a bit and then started to walk away. Remus wanted to follow the Raven that was walking around. Where was it going? What was it doing? Look! How pretty were its dark feathers when the sun's rays danced over them.
So he did. He scooted to the edge of the wall and let his legs dangle for a moment before dropping to the ground. He landed awkwardly and made a loud yelp before he started to follow the bird. Getting down low to see at the same level as it was.
"Who's there?" A voice called out from the trees.
“I think you're hearing things, Sirius. No one is there,” another voice replied.
“Sirius is just wanting an adventure James,” another voice replied.
“James, no I heard something right through here,”  Sirius said and rustling of leaves and crunch of sticks could be heard before a person pushed their way into the small clearing followed immediately by another.
“See! I was right!” Sirius crowed.
The loud shout caused Remus to scream and cover his ears.
“Yes yes you were right. Don't boast Sirius,” James said back as he gave Sirius a slight shove.
Peter laughed loudly, holding his ribs.
Remus pushed himself until his back was against the wall and he curled up, leaving hands over his ears and his eyes darting back and forth in fear.
Suddenly it was eerily silent.
“Sirius, we shouldn't be here. This place is forbidden. It's for the fae.” Peter said in a hurried whisper trying to pull Sirius back out of the clearing.
“Then why is that boy there?” Sirius asked as he ignored James' warnings and moved towards the boys huddled on the ground.
“My da explained that this is where the peasants leave their children that are changelings. If they leave them here, the fae will give them back their own child that they took and take theirs back” James said, trying to tug on Sirius' cloak.
“You mean people just leave their kids here and they…” Sirius started leaving his question unspoken as his eyes widened.
James nodded softly. “They really think that and if we interfere, when they come back tomorrow to get his body and it's not here they will be stoned and then cast out of the village as proof that they were not worthy of their child or even the changeling one. That they are cursed.”
“But why would anyone think their child is a changeling?” Sirius asked as he slowly crept closer to the boy on the ground.
James shrugged but stood frozen to his spot.
Peter whispered, “they don't they just know something's wrong with them and leave them here because they aren't right.”
“Well that's really wrong,” Sirius exclaimed before bounding over to Remus, almost puppy-like.
Sirius cocked his head and looked at the boy. He looked no different than him, his brother Regulus, or James. He just was poor. His clothes were basically rags and his skin was dirty. His curls were wild and untamed and his hair was caked in mud. When the boy looked up at Sirius, his eyes were almost golden and Sirius gasped. They were the prettiest eyes he had ever seen.
Remus started at Sirius and Sirius stared back.
Sirius smiled and Remus grinned back.
“He's coming back with us” Sirius eventually announced and stood to his feet.
“Is that such a good idea?” Peter questioned
“Aye!” Sirius said with a grin and took the peasant boy's hand and pulled him to his feet. “Sirius. James. Peter.” Sirius said pointing to himself and then James and then Peter. The boys waved their hands slightly when their name was called out. “Do you have a name? What are you called?”
Remus didn't reply instead he kept his hands over his ears and looked around before staring intensely at Sirius and then rocking on the balls of his feet. The sun shone through the trees and landed in Remus' eyes. He squinted and moved his head to try to get away from the brightness.
“That's why he was left” Peter said pointedly.
“Nonsense!” Sirius exclaimed. “He just doesn't light the sun in his eyes.”
“We are also rather boisterous,” James added.
Sirius nodded and grinned and lowered his voice while he unclasped his cloak and wrapped it around Remy's shoulders, pulling the hood up to shield his eyes from the glaring light.
Remus slowly lowered his hands. He kept rocking but his hands started to move up and down by his torso.
“See he's happy now!” Sirius said in an excited whisper.
“Remus” Remus said repeating himself two, three, and then four times.
“Is that your name?” James asked.
“Pleased to meet you Remus” Sirius said. “Come on Remus, let's go have tea.”
Sirius took Remus' hand and left the clearing.
James looked at Peter who shrugged and they both followed after the pair.
No one questioned when the little lord brought home a peasant boy and insisted he would live with them from now on.
Despite the rumours that circulated, no one who knew the pair would ever say that Remus was unintelligent. Sirius just did all the talking and Remus, well he did all the thinking.

*materializes into existence*
Hey there :D
I haven't sent an ask in... I don't remember. This is very long.
Calling this the QPP Fae AU.
(cw/tw: mention of death & dead parent, implied/referenced mistreatment & alienation, possible grief and denial, disappearance/missing person, not being believed, abandonment issues, fear of being alone, fear of vulnerability & trusting others, massive anxiety mention, hunters, mention of questioning ones humanity)
Spooky Gays in a qpp. One is a human, the other is some fae creature in disguise. Not the ones ya think.
Fae Virgil not wanting to deal with most humans can they're really mean and weird and why did one of them just down chemicals for a media challenge, huh??
Human Remus being his feral, chaotic self & Virgil genuinely believing he's a fellow fae. No human does that shit, you have no shame, sir, and don't give a shit about human rules, ain't no way you're a human. Remus is very much not like his peers at all, but he loves himself for it. The weirder he is, the better. He rather be alienated from those strict jerks.
It's not like he wants genuine connection, haha, shut up
Remus tells Virgil that actually he's human, but he thinks being mistaken for fae is the best thing ever. Virgil does not believe him for a while before just accepting his human is just a massive feral weirdo.
Virgil and Remus end up in a qpp/partnership. They slowly show trust and vulnerability to each other & find out things about one another. Like Remus' fear of being alone or his abandonment issues that may or may not being related to his missing twin brother who's being missing for almost six months by now. Or like Virgil's massive anxiety bc of unfair shit from other fae & meanie humans/human hunters. Also his fear of trusting others bc he's so used to be betrayed and hurt. They help each other out w/ their things.
And maybe h/c qpp turns into a mystery and thriller as they search for Remus' missing brother, Roman, who disappeared right after a trip into the woods and hasn't been seen since. Remus believes he's still alive somewhere but no one believes him. The townsfolk held a memorial/funeral that Remus refused to attend bc "he's still alive, what are you doing, we have to find him, idiots". Virgil is the only one who kinda believes him bc lots of ppl disappear into the woods and end up in the fae world, it happens a lot, so maybe he's there? So, Virgil uses his fae connections to help look for him & he and Remus look in Roman's fave spots in the woods. As this happens, Remus tells stories of when the twins were younger and they'd go camping w/ each other & how they'd play pretend a lot & when they played make believe Re chose to be a Duke & Ro chose to be a Prince & their mom Rhea would pretend with them sometimes and pretend to be this epic Dragon-Witch or some badass queen. And yus, Rhea is named after the actual mother of Romulus and Remus from the myth.
On this goes, and they find Roman. Not how you'd think. Maybe he'd be dead, maybe he'd be in the fae world. It's neither, kinda. They discover that Roman is, in fact, fae himself and is a changeling with a human form. Which raises so many questions of how the fuck that happened, does that mean Re and Roman aren't actually biological twins, but he's still his brother right, you're still my twin brother, how did he figure that out, he's more human than Remus is, how in the hell? Ya see, all those questions are put off bc Remus found his lost brother and hugs him so tight that he could break him if he wanted. The twins hug each other tightly and Virgil watches fondly in support from the background.
Turns out, Roman started questioning his humanity and discovered he may be fae, so he staged a 'mysterious disappearance' and ran off to figure himself out. He discovered himself, who he really is, what he really is, and he has missed Remus so so much. Remus is like "you asshole why did you tell me they said you were dead pls never leave again I missed you you bastard" and yep, more brother hugs for these two. Virgil and Roman meet, and Ro of course teases Re over having a partner in the most sibling way possible and everything turns out okay! The most likely to be fae isn't fae, and the other "normal" ppl are actually fae and Remus has everyone he cares about again (excluding his Mom cause she's dead but eh).
Anyway, Roman made friends with a fae Logan and Patton & made rivals with a witch/sorceress transfemme Janus. Remus is the only full-on, not magical, human in this entire group. Which is the funniest shit ever.
Oh yeah, and Rhea was a single Mom when she was alive. Best Mom Award, fr. Took the twins camping & indulged them in their interests (to a healthy degree). One of the few who ever supported Remus for being himself.
So, a qpp Dukexiety idea that leads into a mystery about fae, brothers, and transfemme witches. About family and most Dukexiety being dorks together as they go on this journey.
Hope ya enjoy!
Heyo! :}D That literally sounds S O fucking cool I L O V E L O V E L O V E E V E R Y T H I N G about this oml!!! There's S O much I already adore it's got Mystery, Fantasy aspects, The Spooky Gays adventuring and being absolute dorks and trusting to each other, Hilarious concepts (Forever cackling at both the fact that Ree is chaotic and unhinged as shit to the point where Vee doesn't even believe him when he says he's human at first and that the poor Emo Fae's QPP is literally the only non magical person in the group don't worry the C H A O S makes up for it Bud XD) The perfect amount of A N G S T and F L U F F ratio, Wholesome Creativitwins moments (Rhea is forever a Queen for raising such wonderful sons <3) Twists, and just ahhhh I desperately N E E D this <3!!!

kaeya's character draws inspiration from several fictional figures: most prominently hagen/hogni, the baby from midsummer night's dream, and possibly kai from the snow queen.
today, i want to talk about the play midsummer night's dream by shakespeare. tl;dr: prince kaeya theory isn't dead, it's his mother who was royalty
the story includes the plot of oberon, the fairy king, and his wife the fairy queen titania fighting over an unnamed INDIAN baby. there's other Shenanigans going on but we don't care about them. oberon is thought to be a variant spelling derived from alberich. remember alberich means elf king.
In the legendary history of the Merovingian dynasty Oberon is a magician, the brother of Merowech (Mérovée). In the medieval German epic the Nibelungenlied he is the dwarf who guards the underground treasure of the Nibelungen and is overcome by Siegfried and forced to yield the “cloak of darkness” (the Tarn-kappe).
this seems to check out as the merovingian dynasty includes figures such as clothar and caribert. so assume oberon = alberich = kaeya's ancestor or father.
now, this baby was the child of titania's human attendent and an indian king. the woman died leaving titania to take care of the child for her sake. in other words, this baby was an INDIAN PRINCE raised by a bunch of fairies: a changeling.
i think the baby being indian could be why they decided to make kaeya into a brown king. (wow i can't believe shakespeare is the reason why kaeya has melanin everyone say thank you shakespeare.)
LOTS of questions does this raise; but since this game likes to switch things around (remus founded remuria instead of romulus for example) it's really hard to predict what direction they decided to go in. we know at least the alberichs aren't of royal blood, so it could've been his mother who was a queen. because notice that the prince kaeya baiting has NOT stopped even after they told us the alberichs weren't royalty. just look at his hangout where he literally plays a prince and the fischl and kaeya cake.
Tumblr media
why would they drop hints about kaeya being a prince from his voicelines to OTHER people's voicelines to his constellation to his splashart to the play to the inspiration behind his character only to backtrack on it? even hagen, kaeya's other equivalent, was the son of a queen.
the question remains then, what exactly was his mother the queen of?

Patton has believed all his life that magic users are evil, that they are the reason that it’s so hard to be a changeling. His parents had only enforced that, lying to him, saying that redacted articles he had read when he was young were part of his delusions he got from being bipolar. Only finding all this out from a fight with his brother Virgil, when he found out that his little brother was practicing magic; magic that Patton had sworn to always protect him from among other things. THE MAGICIAN: SPARK OF MAGIC (What inspired you to write your novel?)
Project.Ink:
I wanted to write something purely self indulgent. Lesbians, Faeries, Irish Folklore & Mythology, Angst, Whump...... it's got it all 😅 Real talk though, my family are Irish and I've always been obsessed with our faeries - I wanted to play with the idea of the 'changelings'. Instead of human parents unknowingly having their baby swapped with a fae child, I wanted to do something with the concept of a faerie believing they're a human and only finding out later in the story that they were one of The Sídhe. And I wanted it to be gay. Thus, a queer, lovers to enemies to lovers, irish folklore, faeries vs humans novel was born.
Project.Seraph:
I fell down a 'biblically accurate angel' rabbit hole and thought about how FUCKING TERRIFYING it would be if angels existed and decided they were tired of our bullshit and started a war. And then in true Sav fashion I flipped my original idea on its head and made the angels the ones we should feel sorry for - hence my little baby Nevaeh was thought up. Obviously I needed an evil queen to ruin everything for everyone, and Teo..... was an afterthought 🥲 I ended up dreaming about Project.Seraph one night and loverboy just happened to be there so I fleshed him out and decided that if he infested my dreams before he was even an OC then he deserved some attention, and Nevaeh deserved someone to love. I wasn't gonna make it easy for them though lmao.
Project.Claw:
I listened to this song one (1) single time and decided that everyone deserves a gay werewolf love story (Remus Lupin I'm so sorry you never got yours). And I wanted to keep the murder because I'm incapable of writing a story where my characters don't suffer :)

Please talk about the dynamics in the Fey AU it’s so fascinating
Fae AU it is!
So I've spoken about Valkyrie and the Fae themselves, but I haven't talked about the outside.
Gordon figured out that his niece had been replaced quite quickly but was unable to convince Desmond and Melissa. He went to Fergus and explained what happened, but Fergus was unable to think of anything they could do. Carol and Crystal overheard this conversation.
Gordon read this among many Fae stories and asked Skulduggery if it was a true event. Skulduggery confirmed that it was, though the names had been changed and when he remembered this, Gordon tried to follow this method to get Stephanie to leave.
Now, there's this story:
A YOUNG woman, whose name was Mary Scannell, lived with her husband not many years ago at Castle Martyr. One day in harvest time she went with several more to help in binding up the wheat, and left her child, which she was nursing, in a corner of the field, quite safe, as she thought, wrapped up in her cloak. When she had finished her work, she returned where the child was, but in place of her own child she found a thing in the cloak that was not half the size, and that kept up such a crying you might have heard it a mile off: so she guessed how the case was, and, without stop or stay, away she took it in her arms, pretending to be mighty fond of it all the while, to a wise woman, who told her in a whisper not to give it enough to eat, and to beat and pinch it without mercy, which Mary Scannell did; and just in one week after to the day, when she awoke in the morning, she found her own child lying by her side in the bed ! The fairy that had been put in its place did not like the usage it got from Mary Scannell, who understood how to treat it, like a sensible woman as she was, and away it went after the week's trial, and sent her own child back to her.
Stephanie, however, wasn't there for her own violation. Stephanie, like most of the Changelings that replaced Skulduggery's 'pets', didn't want to be there. At first, she wanted nothing more than to leave but was terrified of Skulduggery.
Slowly, she got used to her life and started loving it. She didn't want Valkyrie to come back and quite frankly, didn't believe Valkyrie was still alive.
About five years after Valkyrie was taken, Nefarian Drake was swapped with Nefarian Serpine. He took on the name Serpine so no Fae could take his name, but he was smart enough to know that Serpine probably had enemies. Nefarian was still a murderer, just not Skulduggery's family's murderer.
Of course, no one knows he's gone because Serpine is disguised as him, but the murders are done differently, attracting the attention of Remus Crux. He begrudgingly takes it to Gordon, who has written several stories about how stupid he is, and Gordon decides that Serpine is a Fae and later realises who he is.
Gordon takes a few weapons and meets Skulduggery in a spot he knew the Fae hung around a lot. They talk, Skulduggery confirms that a human took Serpine's place and before he leaves Gordon asks how Valkyrie is. Skulduggery walks away while humming merrily so Gordon assumes she's still alive and kicking.
Of course, Alice was born a year and a half before this happened and Gordon knows that Fae are watching his family due to rumours of their bloodline and its connection to the Fae world. He finally confronts Stephanie, who's grown comfy in her new life.
Stephanie promises to protect Alice in his place and when Gordon asks what she means, she attacks him on Skulduggery's orders. He fights back but is losing and before she manages to kill him, Carol rams into her and dies fighting Stephanie. Crystal watched the whole thing.
The murder is placed on Ian Moore who had attacked the family once before and beat himself up in his cell after a year of being stuck. It just so happened that he was in the area and actually coming after them.
A few months later, another swap is made. Oisín Auger Caddock's parents decided that their son didn't live up to their image and so made a deal with the Fae. They got a Changeling capable of living up to their standards, and the Fae got to keep their son.
Fortunately for him, the Fae they made the deal with was Fletcher, interrupting the worse kinds of Fae who'd have used him as a slave. He tells the child to pick a new name and he picks Omen. Fletcher introduces him to Valkyrie, who grows attached immediately.
Auger's first few weeks with the Caddocks are alright, but after a few months, he wants to go back due to their treatment of him. Unfortunately, because the deal was made by Fletcher who doesn't leave the Fae world often, he's trapped. He makes a few friends that make his life bearable though and he isn't malicious.
Another thing to mention is that while all of this is happening, Valkyrie still looks twelve, Fletcher has looked fourteen for years, and Omen will look seven. Fletcher is aware of this fact and deals with it in his own way but he knows Valkyrie won't take it well and keeps it from her.

carry them home (4)
warnings: magical oaths, mentions of past harm/captivity, mentions of murder, canon-typical remus behavior, lmk if i'm missing any
-
His declaration, predictably, sparked an entirely new argument.
Logan had wasted a few moments trying to call Janus’s bluff, and then, once it became clear that a Deal was absolutely not happening, he had been promptly dragged into the brewing argument.
Patton was vehemently against murder, and the fire sprite seemed to be tentatively backing him up. Logan was clearly weighing the benefits and the risks, his clear irritation with Janus seemingly warring with the fallout of going against Patton’s wishes. Vee appeared to be holding up the pro-murder side of the argument through sheer force of loathing.
Nobody had asked Remus for his opinion, presumably because the answer was extremely obvious. The kid was still leaning obnoxiously on Janus, watching the debate like a tennis match and nodding faux-wisely every once in a while.
“I don’t suppose you’d be willing to look the other way while your companions are distracted?” Janus asked dryly, tilting his head slightly to see that the hands on him were utterly caked in dirt.
“And miss the opportunity to see how many ghoul fungi I could grow out of your corpse? You ask too much of me,” Remus replied, tilting Janus back slightly so he could peer upside down at his face.
Startlingly, underneath the errant patches of lichen and mold, the changeling’s face bore a remarkable resemblance to the fire sprite.
Rather than comment on it, Janus rolled his eyes. “At least grow edible ones. Waste not, want not, as the conscientious say.”
Remus blinked, and the edges of his smile grew sharper with delight. “Any corpse mushrooms are edible if you're not a coward!”
Janus hummed in agreement. “And if you don’t mind becoming a corpse yourself.”
Those mismatched eyes vanished, and there was a nasally laugh, as though he’d thrown his head back to cackle. “You’re awfully relaxed for a guy we might pull all the guts out of!”
Part of that was the lingering effect of the trance, as well as the theory that if he planned an escape too actively, he might send the soothsayer into another foretelling episode.
(It was strange. Normally, involuntary visions of the future were triggered by impending danger, but Janus hadn’t had any harmful intentions while pondering escape.)
Of course, he wasn’t about to tell them that.
“There’s no point to mindlessly panicking,” Janus said instead. “Besides, as far as captors go, I’ve had much crueler ones.”
“Are you sure? We’re literally trying to decide if I get to mulch your body!” Remus informed him cheerily. His sharp-toothed little grin was practically designed to incite terror; Janus felt a small surge of fondness despite himself.
“Indeed, but a few of you don’t seem to want me dead, so my statement stands.”
“‘A few’ is generous,” Vee muttered, and then ducked away from Patton’s puppy dog eyes.
“He hasn’t done anything wrong!” Patton insisted. Generally speaking, that wasn’t remotely true, but Janus wasn’t about to correct him. “We shouldn’t hurt innocents!”
“Patton, we have to focus on keeping ourselves safe,” Logan tried, a sort of halfheartedness to the words, as though he already knew they wouldn’t sway the other fae.
“What’s an epic voyage without a few struggles?” the fire sprite countered. “This serpentine stranger may have some tricks up his sleeve, but a hero such as myself will valiantly protect you all from any threat he may pose!”
Vee scoffed. “Ro, you can’t even protect us from your twin’s bad singing.”
Ro gasped, placing an affronted hand to his chest, but before they could return to bickering, Logan mantled his wings in an unspoken demand for attention.
“If we aren’t killing him—,” he pointedly ignored the groan from Vee, “—we need an alternative method of ensuring he won’t hurt anyone.”
“Remove his arms!” Remus offered helpfully. Patton winced, and Logan sighed.
“Physical restraints seem to be effective enough for the moment. Our primary concern should be countering whatever method the human used to break free of my trance.”
“Or,” Janus interjected mildly, “we could skip the mind magic entirely, and negotiate instead.”
“Right, because you’re so trustworthy,” Vee snapped. He’d started aggressively pacing at some point during the discussion, his shoulders hunched inward.
The kid made an astute point, as inconvenient as it was.
“I’m not the one who chose to be dragged out here and interrogated,” Janus said, tone only slightly snippy. “However, I would be willing to swear a blood oath, if that is what’s required to ease your minds.”
All of the kids turned to him with wide-eyed surprise, though Vee snapped back into anger within moments.
“You don’t get to put any of us under oath—,” he started, edging in front of the others with bared teeth.
“I would be the sworn party,” Janus interrupted, heroically resisting the urge to sigh at the assumption.
Another beat of silence, though Remus and Ro seemed more bemused than anything.
“You’d rather subject yourself to a blood oath than a Deal?” Logan asked, his expression shifting to something more pensive as he studied Janus. “Have you… been under oath, before?”
Janus resisted a dry laugh. “I have,” he understated.
“But blood oaths hurt!” Patton chimed in, still looking far too worried on behalf of a relative stranger.
He was well aware. “The pain is only debilitating if I actively act against the agreed terms. As long as I am guaranteed my safe release by the end of the oath, I am willing to endure the side effects.”
Vee had gone quiet, watching him intently with those tar pit eyes.
“Alright,” Logan said, and settled into a neat, cross-legged sit in front of Janus. “Let’s negotiate.”
The agreement ended up being relatively straightforward, for how long-winded their discussion was.
Janus had agreed not to harm, or plan to cause harm to, any of the kids. He’d agreed to offer his honest knowledge on not only the movement of the Guard, but any relevant matters that could aid their journey. He’d agreed to follow the orders of whoever was currently assigned as his watcher, but only that designated person.
He’d insisted on that wording, having already picked up on the frequent bickering that went on between the kids. Being subject to one highly-opinionated child at a time was manageable. Being subject to magically compelled orders from all five of them was a recipe for disaster.
In exchange, he would not be killed, and he would part ways peacefully with the gaggle of infants after the oath period— a completed moon’s cycle— had passed.
He had spent so much time weaving loopholes into his requirements and playing innocent as Logan caught and unraveled the vast majority of them, that he hadn’t actually realized how heavily skewed against him the deal was until the oath was already being made.
That was what he got for indulging in bad habits, he supposed. A necessary evil, as he doubted the children would have trusted his word if he’d simply stated what he meant outright.
They had good instincts— it was always better to be watching for the trap— but in the end, they were still young. Rooting out Janus’s double-meaning machinations had successfully distracted them from including the conditions Janus wanted to avoid-- one that would force him to tell them anything about his own person, for example.
(Really, his highly suspect background aside, it was none of their business.)
He didn’t bother trying anything during the ritual swearing itself, both because Vee was watching him like a starved hawk, and because he wasn’t a fool that meddled with the processes of blood magic.
The heavy, dull ache of a blood oath settled onto Janus like an old jacket draped over his shoulders. He hadn’t missed it. Still, it was leagues better than making a Deal.
Five gazes watched him with varying levels of curiosity and wariness, as though waiting to see if he would spontaneously combust under the force of the oath.
Janus pushed down the stress that always accompanied arrangements like these, reminding himself that he was in the here and now. As far as captors he’d been magically bound to went, he’d endured far worse for far longer.
It would only be a month. They were children. This would likely be the easiest trip he’d ever made under blood oath.
“My first piece of advice,” he offered with a winsome smirk, “would be to move eastward. Odds are good that your encounter with the shopkeep will linger in her mind enough to mention it to the Guard, and I assume we’ll want to be well ahead of any scouting parties sent off the way I led you out of town.”
Vee crossed his arms, scowling. “We’re not going to find Sanctuary in the east. It’s in the mountains.”
“I’m not giving you information on how to get to Sanctuary, the place that isn’t real. I’m telling you how to not get caught by hunters,” Janus replied, saccharine-sweet.
Vee hissed petulantly.
“Ooh, ooh!” Remus waved his hand around wildly. “We could always go with my plan and immolate the Guard! I always wanted to go out in a blaze of gory glory.”
Patton chuckled nervously. “Immolate? I think I’d prefer we get moving immoearly to avoid the Guard instead!”
Remus booed. Ro also booed, but it seemed to be more about the pun than denial of mauling.
“Patton is correct. We don’t want to be caught unaware, particularly at nightfall,” Logan said, folding up his map after adding a few careful notations to it. “The human’s advice is sound— for the short-term, Vee. We can worry about Sanctuary once we’re out of immediate danger.”
With a decisive nod, he shifted back to his feet, and everyone dispersed as though on cue, hurrying to grab the supplies and belongings scattered about the clearing.
Having left all his belongings at home pre-abduction, Janus leaned back against a tree, grimacing as the bark pressed into his wrists. He really would have to convince them to retie his hands in front of him, he was going to be entirely useless like this.
Patton would be the easiest to convince, though he doubted that Logan would assign anyone but himself to watch Janus for the first few days—
“Vee! You’ve got the human. Keep an eye on him.”
Or maybe the siren trusted the others more than Janus had originally thought.
...Or cared less about Janus's survival than he'd originally assumed.
Vee returned Janus’s mocking smile from earlier, a silent promise that the changeling was going to enjoy making life harder for him.
So much for an easy journey.

Hello hello :') someone in a server of ours just finished reading LAOFT for the first time! And that eventually devolved into a discussion of a role reversal au which is basically "Thomas fucking things up [affectionate]". Basically, Logan is the Lord of the forest but he was accidentally cursed to fall asleep by his twin brother Thomas who then ascended the throne to keep the court in order. Thomas also sent Patton, a member of his court away in a desperate quest to find a cure to wake Logan up. Meanwhile, a fae had taken grandma Gage's grandson, but she managed to bully them into returning Roman to her *and* for her to keep Remus the changeling child. However, as they grew up as kids, Remus accidentally gave Roman a Gift because Roman had complained one day that "No one *listens* to him!". Virgil and Durant are brothers, Virgil focuses on their family's witch lineage and takes the lessons from their Mother very seriously while Durant prefers to go out in the forest to kill magical creatures that threaten the humans' safety. So much so that Durant eventually got cursed into having scales and a compulsion to lie after causing so much damage. A curse that Virgil had made a deal with Thomas to lift. But oh snap! Thomas somehow fudged up *that* deal and now there's Night!Virgil (who's closer to Durant because he's like Pre-AA Virgil) and Day!Virgil who often quareled with him (like post-AA Virgil). And of course, with Durant always leaving house during the day and coming back after sundown, he doesn't even get to meet the softer version of his brother, the version that had bargained with the Lord of the Forest to lift his compulsion to lie up :)
I hope you don't mind the ramble. We all had fun with brainstorming and playing around with it so we wanted you to have a look at what we got! :) I hope this has bought you joy!
oh WOW this is so cool! love the concept!!!
