How history repeats itself

Have you ever noticed how history repeats itself, how certain patterns keep popping up, it could be with a significant other, with family, a co-worker, and ever wondered why?

We follow distinct patterns, patterns that are ingrained in our personalities. Those repeating patterns are formed in childhood and passed through the generations.

You may see another family member in you and decide that although it’s completely unrealistic to change completely, there are things you can change. Not everyone agrees you can, but I believe you can.

There is no reason why history should repeat itself. When you look at the bigger picture of any situation, you can see the behaviour patterns and you can consciously seek to change those, or you can ignore the fact that you’re seeing them.

The problem is we may not seek to question our behaviour. We’re usually checking out someone else’s behaviour and ignoring our own. We are usually self-absorbed, thinking about ourselves, our wants, as we continue to strive to have and want more, and will usually stop at nothing until we get what we want.

We’re takers and often take more than we give. We find power in domineering forces such as politics, wealth and religion, with spirituality being at the bottom of the pile. It is because these aspirations are most common that history repeats itself. When our experiences lay dormant, history also repeats itself.

The irony is we get to choose what we repeat. Life can move in circles with us repeating the same ingrained patterns, or it can move in a straight line. The choice is ours. I chose to move in a line, and I haven’t looked back.

Conclusion:

When it comes to history, we have a choice. It is always better to air on the side of caution and rethink what we know, but many times those things are either overlooked, or avoided like the plague.

In politics, where history repeats itself, it’s not only those making the decisions that history will repeat, but the ramifications on their decisions will extend far and wide throughout the wider population.

Where we may ignore, those things will come back. Nothing ever goes away until we deal with them, find a resolve; and a way through.

I cant believe all the hate that i see in this else than that peaceful place when it comes to the same sex marriage vote. Australia, a diverse and colorful country that invites people from all over the world to visit with its beauty and friendlyness really has to put equality up for a question?! AND there's actually people making a fuzz about it, refering to God and the Bible? (You know, the book with the talking snake and the man walking on water) I see a lot of Christians filled with hate when its about lovers of the same sex. It's riddicioulus. Why am i so upset? I just had an argument with a guy that was going on under a Facebookpost about the vote. He said how the US Influence, drug cartels and mass shootings would relate to same sex marriage. I mean - what the actual?! He even carried on on how he death threathend a trans person the other day like it was great fun.. It sickens me to think that there could be a slight chance people with limited views on life like that (to be polite) would get governmental support on their ideas if the Law doesnt pass with a yes. Child Trafficking- Starting Talk to invoke a Walk 1

What can we do about child trafficking? It’s the first obstacle, the first barrier of solving this unarguably inhumane practice towards the treatment of children.

Interestingly enough, for something so prevalent and damaging occurring within our society, child trafficking and the exchange of child pornography is one of the most underrepresented issues.

My thoughts on why this is are simple: it is simply too awful to hear about, which I completely understand, but if these children are having unspeakable acts committed on their bodies and their importantly their souls, we should at least have the decency to listen to what is going on.

I didn’t become passionate about this issue until a few months ago. It wasn’t until I watched a speech given by Blake Lively while scrolling through facebook that I truly became aware of the issue of child pornography and human trafficking. And yes, I mean AWARE. Up until that point, the only contact I had come into involving the subject ran along the lines of Liam Neeson’s “Taken”, and the opening scene of “Mr. Robot”. It wasn’t until this speech that I considered what child pornography truly entailed and how underrepresented its issues are within the general public.

Behind Blake, there was a map. Every time the map lit up, it was representative of child pornography being exchanged. I was floored. That map lit up so frequently you’d have thought the lights were there to represent every time someone said the word “and”. Throughout the speech this map was lit up, and by the time the speech had commenced, the board must have lit up at least a thousand times- it was a ten minute speech.

And maybe, maybe you’re thinking “so what, some pictures are harmless” but it’s not just picture we’re talking about, (but even photos of children are extremely disgusting and a violation of not only privacy, but innocence) anything a pedophile wants to find on the internet is available. And I mean anything. In her speech, Blake stated that she had a conversation with an expert on child trafficking and when she asked him how young are some of these children, he stated “infants”. Infants. Barely taken a breath and already being penetrated by things that I, an eighteen year old woman do not yet feel emotionally ready to handle.

So what can you do? I think the most important thing we can do is get the word out if you can’t give money to a charitable organization dedicated to ending this crisis. People think they are informed about this issue, but it’s uncomfortable to talk about and even more uncomfortable to research on your own. It’s much easier speak about in a conversation format, and will encourage great discussions about ethics and provoke a will to advocate for this underrepresented topic in many people. Under this post, I’ve linked some statistics of human trafficking in the US and Blake Lively’s speech. I hope that together we can begin to bring what has in the past been a taboo topic to light.
