while I think yu is a breath of fresh air i do worry that the magireco might lean into being too dark with her. Like with the placement of her soul gem. It probably fits thematically with her story and the event story but also like…it gives me the same feeling as magical girl anime that are pure shock value with no substance. And it’s probably completely unjustified but I’ve been feeling that way about everything yu, from her list, to how she takes organs. Like it’s not horrible but it’s just on that cusp of being dark with no substance for me.

So I didn't actually have a reference for the yellow inkling, but I'm pretty sure I remember making an inkling like this unnamed one before actually designing Kailani.

Can't say for certain though, so it's just speculation that I'm gonna believe!

i've never finished this game, but i keep starting new saves oops (mostly bc act 3 runs so poorly on my laptop)

anyway, doodles of my latest dark-urge, she's basically a copy of my last durge who was evil, but this run i'm playing redeemed dark urge. i'm maybe a third of the way thru act 2 with her now

sometimes i feel like i'm seeing/hearing something different than other people when it comes to Bad. people are like "ooh he got so dark and edgy," and they mean that genuinely. but it's funny. it's obviously put on, right? michael jackson was not genuinely saying he was bad in the traditional sense. i realize you can interpret things in many ways but the short film... he positions himself AGAINST the popular definition of being bad. idk i thought from when i was a little kid that the song is really funny. "your butt is mine," falsetto backing vocals "really, REALLY BAD," "you're doin wrong, gon LOCK you up"

in my mind there r two majors spheres of interest ive accumulated over the last several years. one of them consists of cartoons & lighthearted comedic media, bright primary colors, clowns, rubber ducks, toys, etc and the other one consists of horror, red black and silver things, violent crime fiction, gore, symbolic cannibalism etc. and my brain wants to connect them SO bad but the only connection it allows is to get rly excited over the fact that bugs bunny is in skinamarink

honestly toriyama's first mistake was disliking the original botg so much he completely rewrote the script and redesigned the characters and then trusting that same studio to pass the vibe check if he handed them an outline for a whole arc

in a way, ludger is an iconic example of "irredeemable" characters, as in those who cannot be fixed and not because they are throughly evil but because they stubbornly reject / give up on every chance and opportunity to better themselves.

in ludger's case specifically, his irredeemability is a self-fulfilling prophecy because he is constantly trapped in the loop of believing that he doesn't deserve to get better.

2024 is the year I loop back around and start defending the last bastions of the music I like from tumblrification if I have to hear another instagram infographic yelled to me between songs while people are just posturing around I swear to god. More show less tell everyone I'm begging I genuinely felt an all encompassing sense of togetherness and brotherhood and vibes from the regular degular get kicked in the head evening vs a skin crawling roll your eyes so hard you crack your skull sensation from the let's shout tumblr slogans crowd. Like how all the t-shirts and patches and stuff that were pushing snappy punchy slogans about the political issue du jour almost always casually include the word bitch.
