Inky Cap Mushroom for Funguary 2022.
This is probably my least successful of the Funguary lot, at least by my personal standards. Interestingly, this is very very much harkening back to how I used to draw when I was first really getting in to drawing and first on Deviantart (when that was all the rage and *glomps you* was 90% of comment conversations). WHICH WAS 18 YEARS AGO.
Anyways I went and found my old profile there just to give you guys the comparison:
Long, long mAAaaaan.
#lofe draws#my art#deviantart#funguary#mushrooms#queue 2 cue#also i have no idea what email that deviantart account is tied to#despite the fact I still have access to an account I made when i was NINE in 2000 or 2001.#the only email I had for a long long time actually. I've pretty fastidiously taken care of my prior emails#except! school emails!! which I've lost access to.#:grimace:#lets hope its not that. I swear I've logged in semi-recently.#but also man seeing my old digital art is SOMETHING#they all LONK like this#and photo-bucket colored in MS paint probably on a Vista machine#UPDATE: I GAINED ACCESS! It was my 2001 Hotmail its just that hotmail is fucking GARBAGE#more importantly! I gained access not because I figured out hotmail (which did not return search results for deviantart emails sent to junk#I gained access by simply knowing what passwords I was using at the time and being RIGHT#I can remember what passwords I was using 18 years ago (and what usernames bc i change those like pants)#but i cannot remember when christmas is. The brain is a TRULY terrible place#original

So yesterday, July 27th 2024, I had this random urge of downloading tumblr, rediscovering my account. Since I didn't even remember I had an account, I had to request a new password, leading me to my old hotmail outlook so I could change it. To my surprise I found not 1, but 2 emails from Tumblr; a recent one requesting the password change and one sent earlier at 15:27 stating: "PANDORA turns 12 years old today!".
At first glance I was confused since I knew "Pandora" was the name I gave to my alter ego when I was a teen, but I didn't remember anything about this old tumblr account of mine, at all.
Apparently, part of me (Pandora, perhaps?) did remember though, since I just happened to log back into my dead tumblr exactly on its 12th anniversary, unbeknownst to me, and stumbled upon my old posts, pictures, scattered thoughts, narrow interests of that time... and upon the "#2014 revival" hashtags and blogs, which has surprisingly awakened a spark of nostalgia to my 2014 days...
I never really used tumblr that much even back then (as you can see if you look through my blog) and I highly doubt anyone will read this, but I thought stumbling upon my old blog on its anniversary and revisiting the sh*tposting of my younger self seemed like such a fated thing that I've decided it was worth writing about it and the feelings and thoughts it has evoked in me so that when 12 years from now I remember tumblr again I get to see a glimpse of yet another version of myself through the years.
Although I am a completely different person now (or perhaps, just a different version of the same person) and everything has changed so much, inside and out, I think I'm finally able of doing what 2014 me couldn't do and reconcile all parts of me, both good and bad, dark, light and even grey, and leave this blog up just as it was, even though I don't relate to past me anymore, because I guess she's still part of me somehow and I'm not ashamed of her the way she used to be.
And maybe even... with this whole 2014 nostalgia, looking back at my own picture and remembering those times... I might as well try to relive the blog to further feed into the nostalgia. Oh, to be 16 again, listening to the Arctic Monkeys and taking soft grunge/tumblr aesthetic photos as I changed my hair color every other week... Such a time of my life I truly thought I would never really miss but I guess it's already been long enough by now that it is worth the nostalgia!

Aaaa I got my old Neopets account back. Not the account with all the stuff on it, that I used most, the old one from 2001, where I lied about my age and then lost the password so I could never go back because what if they deleted my pets??? I explained about why I lied about my age and promised never to do it again (I was 14 when I made the account, I'm 37 now...) and sent them a screencap of their change-of-email-address confirmation from the frozen account showing that while I don't have access to my old Hotmail address, it did definitely used to be mine.
(The zip code listed on the account, btw, is 123. Everyone told me to lie about my age and my location on the internet, but nobody accounted for the fact that I am a very bad liar.)
Anyway, the account with all my stuff on it from... mid-to-late high school, I guess? got frozen for some reason, but I did find one of the pets from it in the pound! He doesn't have a "good" name (I adopted him) so I assume he's been in the pound this whole time but he even still has his petpet! I'm salty that my carefully coded petpage for him got erased but that's the main loss here. (It was an in-character-as-a-dweeby-Moehog guide to the game Cheat with some gushing about how cool some of the Cheat players are. They are not cool. Not at all.)
Anyway have a family reunion pic of my old neopets. The striped Eyrie was my first one! I straight up do not remember adopting a Skeith from the pound but I guess I did that.
EDIT: I'm going to try to customize my very first pet like this. I played around with Dress to Impress using "what would make 14-year-old me happy?" as a guideline.
#kaesa op#neopets#okay to be fair i let my 37-year-old self influence the customization a smidge in that my main purse is an ita bag#14 yo me would have her in a flowing dress with a weapon in each hand and also books somehow#in the past 13 years I haven't learned restraint but I've learned to fake it for a while

Hi, I'm the email anon, thank you for anwering me, my question is, how do I fill this out?
I'm don't uderstand it at all
Hello, thanks for writing back!
The good news is, you only need to fill in a part of that page. And hopefully it will be fairly straightforward!
I'm going to provide a screenshot for anyone else that wants to follow along, so that it can be seen more clearly.
First of all, put the email address of the account you want to access in the "Account" field at the top there.
After this, what you have to do varies based on your email provider. You said you're using hotmail, so I ran a search online for "hotmail POP settings", and found this page that has the details we'll need.
It seems that hotmail is using the type POP3, so there's no need to touch that "Type" dropdown. So, we'll move on to the "Server" field.
Hotmail's POP3 server is pop3.live.com, so go ahead and copy and paste that into the "Server" field. It's also using port 995, so change the "Port" field from 110 to 995.
Finally, in the "User ID" field you'll put the username that you use to access your email account, and in the "Password" field you'll put your email account's password!
Everything else you can leave exactly as-is. It should look like this when you're done (but of course, with your account details, not my mockup details).
When you click the "OK" button, you should see your email account appear in the "Account Settings" section of the POP tab of the SSP preferences. (The bits that are blocked out are my personal email accounts, don't worry about that.)
Once you've done this, right click on a ghost, go to the "Check Mail" tab, and click on the email address of the account you just set up!
The ghost should attempt to check the email account, and report back to you with the number of emails.
If something goes wrong, they should give you an error message. If no error message is given, try it with another ghost, such as SSP Angel. SSP Angel will always give you the error, and will also have some basic troubleshooting tips depending on what the error is, so they're a good one to try this with.
Either way, if you're getting an error and can't figure it out, please send us another ask with the error details so we can try to assist!
Hope this helps, good luck!

How to Recover Hotmail Account
Restoring a Hotmail account that is now part of Outlook.com involves a series of steps to verify your identity and regain access to your email. Microsoft, the parent company, offers a self-service recovery process that you can initiate if you forget your password or your account has been compromised. Here are step-by-step instructions to recover your Hotmail/Outlook.com account:
1. Visit the Microsoft account recovery page:
First, go to the Microsoft account recovery page: Microsoft Account Recovery.
2. Select “I forgot my password”:
On the recovery page, select “I forgot my password” option and click “Next.”
3. Enter your email address:
Enter the email address associated with your Hotmail/Outlook.com account and follow the instructions. If you have a phone number or other email address associated with your account, Microsoft may offer additional recovery options.
4. Verification code:
Microsoft will ask you to confirm your identity by sending a security code. You can receive this code via SMS to your associated phone number or via email to your alternate email address. Enter the code on the recovery page.
5. Account Information:
After successfully entering the verification code, you may be asked to provide additional information about your account to further verify your identity. This may include details of recent contacts, email subjects or other relevant account information.
6. Security questions:
If you set up security questions for your account, you may be asked to answer them. Enter the correct answers to continue.
7. Change your password:
Once your identity has been verified, you will be asked to create a new password for your Hotmail/Outlook.com account. Make sure you choose a strong, secure password that you have never used before.
8. Update security information:
Consider updating your security information, such as adding a recovery email address and updating your phone number. This ensures that you have multiple options to recover your account in the future.
9. Check account activity:
After you regain access to your account, review your recent account activity to ensure there have been no unauthorized changes. Check for suspicious activity and update your security settings if necessary.
10. Enable two-step verification (optional):
For additional security, consider enabling two-step verification for your Microsoft account. This provides an additional layer of protection by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password, such as: B. a text message or an authentication app.

Have you been using the same email address and username on various platforms for twenty years?
Have you been using the same password for your accounts for twenty years?
If so, please do the following:
Go to HaveIBeenPwned.Com. In the search box, search your email address.
If the bottom of the page turns red, it means that your email is in at least one set of data from a breach.
2. Scroll down on the page to look at the breaches your email was in. I want you to look specifically for breaches that include passwords.
What this means is that your email address, which you have used as an account name for twenty years, and your password, which you have used across platforms for twenty years, are available for anyone on the web who wants to look. It's pretty easy to go and find too!
This is how a LOT of identity theft and fraud happens these days.
Let's say you created your LiveJournal account when you were fifteen. You used it a lot and by the time you were twenty the credentials you created for it were familiar and you plugged them in whenever you had to create an account. You plugged them in when you created a Facebook account. You plugged them in when you created a bank account. You plugged them in when you created the account that lets you see your lab results from your doctor's office.
All that someone has to do to seriously fuck your life is to do the following:
Find your email and password in one of these lists.
Compare to other lists and see if the same information is present
Seek out the most common account types (gmail, facebook, yahoo, hotmail, icloud, amazon, and one of about five financial institutions)
Start entering your username and password
Literally, profit.
That's all it takes. If you used the same username and password in two accounts in a breach, you probably used it elsewhere. Maybe you put an exclamation after the password, or entered your birth year, but those are pretty easy things to guess about and well worth it if someone can send themselves all the cash in your bank or order a shitload of giftcards from your amazon account.
And look: I know it 's really easy to not take warnings about passwords seriously. I know that if you haven't been screwed by this yet that it's easy to think that your password is strong enough, that you're going to get overlooked because you've got less than a hundred dollars to your name, that you're not going to have a problem with this.
People re-use passwords all the time. They re-use passwords constantly. And a lot of people don't understand that those passwords are freely available out on the internet.
Think about what would happen if someone locked you out of your primary email account and there was no way to get back in. You go to change your password on social media and what does it do? Sends a confirmation to your email, which you now don't control. Is your primary email one of the ways that you get information from your bank? Is it how you log into and track orders from online resellers? How do you log in to the profile on your phone? Do you have a browser profile? Do you log in with your email address? Does your browser profile save your credit card numbers?
This is why we use password managers. This is the advantage to password managers. With a password manager there is ONE password you have to be very careful to keep safe (the password to your password manager) and all the other passwords are disposable. Did your email get revealed in the Tumblr breach? NBD, use your password manager to generate a new, unique password for your tumblr account, change it, and you're good to go.
I know it seems like a giant pain in the ass to start using a password manager. I know it seems like a much bigger headache to log into a password manager and copy passwords than it is to type in the password that you KNOW. But I promise that using a password manager is a much smaller headache than freezing your credit so that people stop applying for credit cards in your name, or trying to start a brand new email from scratch when you get locked out of your old one, or tracking down all of the photos that someone could download from your cloud storage and making sure that they aren't getting posted on revenge porn sites.
Bitwarden is a secure, open-source password manager that has a free option for individual users. It has apps available for iOS and Android, and extensions for Firefox (which is also supported in Firefox Mobile) and Chrome. It has an extremely comprehensive tutorial series to help you learn how to use it. If you're thinking about signing up for a password manager but you're not sure, I strongly recommend checking out some of those videos.
I also promise that using a password manager gets easier the more you use it. It's a big hurdle to jump over when you're getting started, but it gets easier pretty much immediately.
And this doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing proposition. You can create an account with a password manager and just save one login to start. It's actually easiest if you keep it low-key and just update your logins whenever you find yourself needing to log in to a site instead of trying to go through and do it all at once before you're familiar with the program.
I'd recommend starting with at least two things: your primary email and your primary bank account. After that update any major online retailers you shop frequently and any social media that you use often.
A password manager is also a great place to store account recovery codes, answers to security questions, previous passwords, PINs, and secondary contact methods.
A lot of people worry that a password manager is an even bigger risk than just reusing passwords or creating memorable passwords or writing passwords down in a notebook because if a password manager is breached then all of that very important data is exposed. This is a reasonable thing to fear, and that's why it's important to be careful about what password manager you use.
This is why I recommend Bitwarden. Bitwarden uses a very secure encryption scheme and never stores any of your data in plaintext. If Bitwarden is breached and leaks data, all that will be leaked is gibberish. What you need to worry about to keep your password manager secure are the following:
Create a good, complicated, unique password for your password manager. This password DOES need to be memorable, so pick something that will be easy for you to remember. I like to use song lyrics and the year a song was released for this, so something like "Nggyu,Nglyd,Ngraady82" if we're using "Never Gonna Give You Up" as an example.
Make sure that you have secure recovery methods for your password manager; save your recovery passphrase in a safe place (I have a notebook with info like this and software activation codes and so on that I keep in my sock drawer, as well as a password protected folder on my desktop)
Only log in to your password manager from devices that you use a pin or password to log into - if you aren't doing that, at least make sure to set a short vault timeout, so that your password manager will log out after a set (short) period of time
Do not use the password for your password manager anywhere else
Do not tell anyone the password for your password manager
Make sure that your devices have good security and don't allow people remote access to your computer or devices.
Basically YOU are the only way that someone can get into your password manager. Your password is the only thing that can unlock it, which means that A) you have to ensure that you won't lose the password and B) you have to ensure that nobody else has access to the password. I know that first one sounds scary, but there are a LOT of ways to recover a Bitwarden account if you take the time to set them up. The second one is much simpler, and is the thing that is going to keep your password manager safe.
Anyway ILU please use a password manager.

What happened to "Ask aNormal Twilight"?
Hoo boy is this a blast from the past LOL
Long story short, I lost the means to log into the account, kicking me out of it definitely, so I couldn't warn anyone in there.
I had made a post on here before but yeah, I pretty much can't use it anymore. It's frozen in time forever JDJSJSJ it's a shame cause I was drawing the ending arc but so many years have passed I just. moved on
Long answer for nerds: at that time Tumblr was doing a thing in which it forced you to change your password and didn't let you log in until you did. I had made that account with a separate Hotmail which i didn't use outside of logging into Tumblr, and I realized I had forgotten the password. after a tedious process trying to get the password, when I tried to log in it was ALSO at the time they were switching to Gmail. Now, you could keep your Hotmail working if you logged in frequently and so managing to keep it during the switch by setting it up, but since like i said, i hadn't logged into anormal twilight's mail from a long time, the only way to keep my email was to switch from Hotmail to Gmail, which meant that Tumblr didn't recognize the email as the one that was associated with my account. I really tried everything I could at the time, but I just had to give up after hours spent on it

Every few months I just get sad and try to get my old Neopets account back again
The biggest issue with this is that I cannot remember the email I used to make it, and the account was involved in a data leak and I think the password was changed— either that, or I just happened to make an obscure password at some point that vexes me.
I keep trying to offer other ways to prove the account is mine (I’m this close to showing them drawings I have from 2008 of the Neopets on the account), but they just want that fucking email that I’m almost convinced doesn’t even exist anymore cause it was probably a hotmail one that got purged from disuse.
