His ramblings stopped short at his height, to make room for a scoff tumbling into a chuckle. After a few thousand years, his height had fallen to the very bottom of list of annoyances. Still, he hopped off the kids back, definitely shorter and definitely unbothered by the question.

"I know Tongbi's really high up there, but how tall can you expect a monkey to be, kiddo?"

"I am so glad my little sister has found herself a human, she can bond with. Immortal problems notwithstanding, I was partially afraid that she would never even like one. The dragon of wind is surprisingly studious, as well. I am sure that reminds Tongbi of the years in her youth."

...it couldn't have been, could it? Was that... Raimundo?? It was...

A fist balled tight as he stood in wait. Thankfully there was no active Wu around here at the moment, but... what was he doing here? Terrell would keep out of sight- just in case there were any Heylin Armies around; such as the rock golems or Jack-Bots. He'd try and keep a close tabs on what Raimundo was doing... and if need be, he could use it against him. While he didn't want to hurt his friend of times past, they certainly weren't on friendly terms right now.

Peering into the microscope, Scarlet slides in the thin, flat piece of glass. Adjusting the knob of the microscope to seek a better focus, her lips twist into a frown when the result of the experiment has once again failed. Leading the Lioness to roar, cursing out loudly in the lab room, followed by a loud bang on the table when her fist made contact with it. Feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, Kanako took a deep breath to compose herself. Restraining her temper from erupting into a fury, she knew she could not let her anger destroy the lab. Time was of the essence, and she would be wasting time restocking her lab instead of finding a cure.

With weary eyes and exhaustion etched across her face, she slumped back in her work chair and gazed at the ceiling. Burying her face in her hands, the Lioness was at a loss for what to do next.

Days ago, Kanako received an urgent call from her Master. He informed her that Raimundo had suddenly fallen ill and collapsed during training. Dropping everything and rushing to the Xiaolin Temple. Realizing that her Master would not have summoned her if the circumstances were ordinary, the raven was shocked to find her lover strapped to a bed in the temple's infirmary. As Raimundo struggled with hallucinations and delusions, the Xiaolin monks were forced to take drastic measures, as he had attacked them, even causing Clay to receive a black eye from it.

Quickly gathering information from everyone, she soon understood what had transpired. During their hunt for the Wu, they had been unexpectedly ambushed by a group of Snake Men. Oddly, they had no interest in the Wu and even fought against the Heylin. And during the commotion, their fearless leader was bitten by them and kept this information to himself, as unbeknownst to him, his injuries were tainted with poison. Typical of Raimundo to dismiss the incident to avoid worrying his friends. By the time Master Fung returned from his journey and learned of the situation, the poison had already taken effect, and it was too late.

Back in the present, reflecting on it, the Lioness had never been so furious with Raimundo. That she wished she could whack him and give him an earful, which she hoped she would have the chance to do, if he recovered. Plucked away from her thoughts, the blonde cowboy suddenly interrupted her in the lab, who then presented her with two options. They could either walk out together and enjoy a pleasant dinner, or he could throw her onto his back and carry her back to the temple, despite her kicking and screaming. And in the latter scenario, they would still have a pleasant dinner, but without dessert included. She chuckled and selected the first option, knowing the cowboy was doing his best to distract and cheer her up. Unfortunately, her worries and thoughts about her lover's magical ailment and her desperate search for a cure, prevented her from finishing her meal.

After dinner, making their way to the temple's infirmary, they came across Kimiko. And with a single exchange of glances, all three sighed in unison. "No changes, huh?" The blond scratched the back of his head. Each of them wore the same tired expression, except for his noticeable unshaven five o'clock shadow.  Pinching her nose to suppress the migraines that accompanied her worries, Kanako retracted herself from the negative mentality and tried putting on a brave face, attempting to sound hopeful. "Master Fung is still discussing with Master Monk Guan. He might have a clue.." But it was clear no one was buying it. Even Dojo, the oldest being in the Xiaolin Temple, was unfamiliar with their new, mysterious enemies. "I do hope so. Rai is getting worse.." While pausing to think of another word that could be compared to "worse," the best Kimiko could come up with was. "to worse..." It was clear. The Dragon of Fire's anxiety was beginning to show and overwhelm her. That she began rubbing her hands so frequently that they were almost red. "FRIENDS! SISTER!" Omi immediately dashed out of the infirmary. "What's wrong, Omi?" Kanako was the first to confront him and ask. "Raimundo has vanished!" The young monk exclaimed before the rest burst into the room.  "Where could he have gone? We are literally at the only exit...." Kanako's eyes scanned across the bare room. To ensure Raimundo's safety, the monks meticulously stripped the room of all potential hazards. They even went to the extent of barring the windows. The only furnishings left were the wooden poster bed, a table, and a few sleeping bags, which the Xiaolin Dragons used to sleep in while taking turns watching over their sicken friend. The fire dragon soon spoke, clearly losing her cool. "With his delulu state, I doubt he could have gotten far, right?" "What is a de-lulu?" The youngest monk asked before they all heard a light crack above them. "You've got to be kidding me." Clay muttered, expressing everyone's thoughts. Without further discussion, they quickly rushed out of the infirmary to find Rai on the roof, clearly high as a kite. "Sweet Mama Jesus!" "RAIMUNDO!" Omi shouted in fear. "GET DOWN FROM THERE!" Kimiko exclaimed next in a panic. Within seconds, Kanako swiftly regained her composure and sprang into action. "Clay!" Tipping his hat, the blonde responded and nodded. "On it!" Without further instructions, he understood what needed to be done and quickly rushed around the infirmary building. Summoning her elemental power. "Wudai Moon Aegis!" Greatly empowered by the moon, she created a light panel to step up to her lover's level. "Hey, Bonito. What are you doing, darling?" She spoke calmly, trying to distract him.

Oh great, the truth thing immediately got worse. And almost as if to prove their dynamic, as Sonic zipped up to him Nefarious let out a startled shriek and leaped feet into the air, only to tumble back to the ground in a heap. Shooting back up onto his feet, he dusted himself off and shot the hedgehog a manacling glower, trying to regain at least some shred of his dignity.

"What!? First of all—WHERE DO YOU KEEP COMING FROM!?" Why was it so hard to keep track of this annoying blue rat!? "Secondly, give me a little credit!!"

"I plan everything out! Down to the very last detail! NOT THAT YOU EVER APPRECIATE THAT!!" He crossed his arms with an indignant huff. "Every time you come here and mess with me, I only learn more about you! You're only fueling my rage, you know!!—And you know what!? I'LL PROVE IT!!" He suddenly spun on his heel and strode back to his desk to begin shuffling through a pile of blueprints. They were scattered haphazardly and some fluttered to the floor, but he didn't care. He was searching for one thing, and one thing in particular! His master plan, that was sure to stop Sonic in his tracks once and for all!

"AHA!" He exclaimed, suddenly grabbing one and holding it up in the air. He then spun back around and unfurled it, practically shoving it right in Sonic's face to reveal... a drawing of a catapult with a massive boulder on it. Complete with stick figure drawings of them both. "See?! You'll never comprehend MY GENIUS!!!"

His grip changes, an incredulous look on his face.

Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship (status — accepting!)

i. Sonic is always watching out for him in... little ways. Tails gets caught by the cops for driving a stolen tractor into the local health insurance office? Sonic bails his ass out. Banned from the local mall for attempting to incite a riot over price inflation in Hot Topic? Sonic erases any trace of Tails' record from that mall's system. Looking after him is basically like trying to keep him upright while balancing a log rolling over a pool of lava. Your guy's getting run ragged, like it or not. ii. Tails pretends he doesn't know who Sonic is every single time the poor guy texts or calls him. "I'm at the orthodontist, I don't have time to listen to an insurance spiel, bye" when visibly in peripheral and very much not at the orthodontist. He really has no idea how to cope with the fact that Sonic... *gasp!* Cares for him! iii. That's all fine and good, but when he actually wants attention, Tails is like a fuckin' little kid with him. Very clingy, very needy, very loud. And yet, will subsequently act like nothing happened at all when he's satisfied. iv. Sonic may or may not remind him of his own version and that may or may not contribute to the list of reasons why he's distant.
