Honestly it's so boring that Wanda used magic that may or may not be related to something demonic and evil to get pregnant. If we're going to do all that she should have gotten Vision pregnant instead. Use that demon soul to make that synthezoid lactate.

In an example of RP really twisting the perception/elevating the game, my first SH run I went in as starving and penniless curious (nosy) sneak (keen eye+street smart). So the fact that Stella in quick succession

1. Have shown where the food is

2. Treated the MC

3. And then offered to dick around in the woods

was a triple-hit combo that made my MC incredibly loyal to her. And due to my keen eyes kids were safely evacuated which means that instead of *abandoning* *teens* in favor of getting help for a passed out rando, she saw both cousins knocked out and correctly evaluated that she can't carry them.

So due to pecularities of that run and my dubious reading comprehension she ended up as an MVP.

So it's been a hot minute, filled with mental and physical health struggles and various other forms of turbulence. I know the world has not been kind to many of you since I last regularly posted on this blog. I am hoping to get back into finishing up chapter four now that I have done stability in my life again, but we'll see. In the meantime, have a preview that features Scarlet-Be-Thy-Coat:

it’s a lingering moment of discomfort, prompting her body to shift in itself while it rests on a makeshift cot. its attempt at masking the natural edges of the earth beneath is futile: it pierces. a little like erza. seven years absent from her life, it was hard to grasp then and it’s not any easier now. she thinks back to when she found him before, his fragmentary self distorting every one of his senses. the next she sees him he is weighed down by the entirety of himself. time had passed, an undeniable fact, yet she still hears little of what had occurred beside the initial reunion.

“ i never meant… ” words have never felt more meaningless. despite everything she could say she was still dead to him for a near decade. a piece of himself he has allowed to see the light and she can’t find the words... his name is quiet as it leaves her mouth, pleading for patience as ego sheds.

must this be their fate? to be plucked from the living only to trip and fall through once returned. for him it was inevitable—what is her excuse? she does not wish to have left tenrō island any sooner. she cannot promise him he won’t have to mourn her again. she nearly stops herself midway, doubt sticking to her skin as intimacy creeps into the air like smoke but—

she reaches for him at dusk; the crown of his head safe in her palm. fingers lay atop thick azure, haphazardly discarding the front strands as her thumb moves to the skin above his brow, barely a presence. she finds her voice there, reminded of the small solace that persists despite her inner dissonance.

“ i was just glad you weren’t alone. ”

What happened in azure gleam to make you feel that way towards Caspar?

To put it simply, I did not have fun with Hopes' story because Caspar was my reason for playing it and he ended up being unrecruitable in every route but his own. It was even worse when I saw before the game's release that Linhardt was recruitable in all routes and I ended up incorrectly assuming that would be the case for Caspar too. Do not separate, etc. Imagine my surprise when the game ended up forcing me to.

But even worse than that, the reason for him being unrecruitable in Azure Gleam was incredibly unsatisfying to me, and it was the scene where he talks to his father late into the route, his father gave him an out so he could survive, and Caspar refused to take it.

At that point in the game, Edelgard had lost her agency entirely to TWSITD (a horrendous turn of events considering her past) and the Empire was a sinking ship. And at that point, he was given the opportunity to leave and have his own life, even punctuated by his father pointing out that he had someone he cared about on the other side (this is obviously talking about Linhardt). And Caspar DOES NOT LEAVE. WHAT?

I don't think I need to explain why this baffled me so much.

This writing absolutely gutted me on a deep level, and not in a good way. I didn't play the route, but I saw this secondhand and it was enough for me to consider the route dead to me.

Taking my favorite character and making him impossible to recruit because they made him so loyal to a fault that he was willing to doom himself as a way to show that he would fight to the bitter end just made the game just. So unfun to me. Because while giving up is clearly not in his nature, this is an example of this trait being shown in a very negative light to me due to the circumstances presented and it makes Caspar feel very out of character to me. I get how it makes sense from Hopes' perspective, but ugh, that doesn't mean I have to like it.

One of the things that made me love Caspar was his different narrative growths based on the different routes of Three Houses. But Hopes gave him just one option and it's the one where he barely thinks for himself and his own survival.
