"I'm here for you, Mulder, not aliens or conspiracies," she says quietly, her voice steely. "I wouldn't put myself on the line for anyone but you."

He whips around and stares at her in shock. They aren't even partners, and she insists that's how it should be. But he sometimes wonders where they would be if she'd stuck around.

Scully leaves after the events of Deep Throat, drifting back after her father's death before eventually becoming Mulder's go-to pathologist and ride-or-die contact.

"You missed a spot," Mulder said, pointing to a smudge of tomato sauce on the back of a dish.

"Thanks." She dunked the dinner plate back into the soapy water. This was truly bizarre--washing up after dinner like an old married couple. If she didn't dwell on the details of an unwilling father, unwed pregnancy and unpleasant abduction, she and Mulder could be almost normal.

Post Miracle Man Scully and Mulder fall into bed together-- against her (and his) better judgment-- after a stressful case; and can't escape the consequences of one inebriated night: namely, an ensuing, accidental pregnancy, Mulder's enemies creating havoc and indecision, and an undeniable romance hurtling at full speed.

Mulder was excited.

         Too excited. It was starting to worry Scully, that expression of his: the slightly too-wide grin, teetering on the verge of goofy, tongue tucked in the corner of his cheek. She didn’t let her eyes trace that smile further. Not when it meant dealing with Fox Mulder’s dimples. That, she’d learned the hard way, was a post-ten o’clock job. In a pinch, post-caffeine at the very least.

S1 Mulder surprises Scully with an office nameplate; and she surprises him by acting on her feelings.

They had spotted him and as always gave him as much space as possible, which meant nearly crushing the little redhead. He saw that and reached for her, moving in her direction. Might as well use his pariah status to protect her. She realized what he had done, even if she didn't understand it, and thanked him with her eyes. He nodded slightly, and a little stiffly. The elevator was unnaturally quiet, but it often was when he took it.

CaptainLyssa's To FBI or Not To FBI

“You own this place,” Scully stated, safe in the sudden knowledge.

Turning his back on the blond behind the bar, he requested, “Shh, don’t tell anyone. It’s a secret,” before suddenly asking, “did you drive here, Dr Scully?”

“It’s just Scully, Fox,” she tested his Christian name. It sounded…wrong somehow. In her mind Dana couldn’t get passed calling him Mulder.

“It’s just Mulder, Scully,” he returned....

Pre-S1 Scully, too short to qualify for the FBI, became an overworked ER doctor... and meets Mulder while they're both commiserating over their jobs. From a first meet at his establishment, they fall into an incredibly fast relationship that gets caught up with Melissa's sixth sense, Mulder's hospitalization, Diana's suspicious return, and Scully's unexpected pregnancy (that may or may not have to do with Mulder's mytharc genes.)

Samantha looked at her brother and threw herself at him in a trembling hug. "I lost her, Fox. I lost Dana." She paused. "First, I've lost you for most of my life and now I lost her. They are trying to..."0

S2 Samantha and Scully work on the files find Mulder-- who'd been abducted as a boy-- right under their noses. Or, more accurately, Mulder found them.

The sunlight danced through the branches and across his face. The sound of Scully’s breathing, the wind and the birds allowed him to drift away from his body and his pain. The only anchor stopping him from flying away was Scully’s fingers wrapped around him.

S2 Mulder, adrift and hopeless, turns to drugs as a self-destructive coping mechanism...but accidentally runs a very pregnant Scully off the road during his suicide attempt.

It’s definitely Mulder, there is no denying it. She’s known him for only a handful of days, but the glint in his eye is unquestionably him. Requiem Mulder and Scully return from Bellefleur with amnesia, consequently losing memories of the last seven years. While relearning their professional history from Skinner and her mother-- and, most importantly, the files-- the truth of their personal relationship (and her pregnancy) begins to become undeniable.

He shakes his head so immediately it surprises her, if only because of the shocked, uncertain look on his face. "Or you can stay involved." She extends her hand, takes his and squeezes it. "Think about it, okay?" she offers. "Take some time."

Post Lazarus Mulder and Scully fall into an unspecified relationship... which Little Green Men Mulder and Scully have to confront when she finds out she's pregnant.

in another world - Chapter 22

it happens in vegas, of course, and it happens because of langly and melissa. mulder’s on a trip with the gunmen, following up on some tip they’d gotten, and melissa and dana are on a vacation together. it’s directly following mulder’s breakup with diana, and he’s been moping around the hotel room the entire time; dana is in the midst of stressing over a big test for medical school, and has refused to leave the hotel room so that she can study to the point of driving melissa crazy.

Mulder and Scully meet, marry, and annul in Vegas before they're partnered.

Half-Light Universe

2016

It’s not a question at this point of how many times this has happened, but a question of “is this the time that will do it”. Mulder could try and romanticize it, but there’s nothing there to romanticize. He holds Scully as she bleeds out. And then he’s shot in the back.

Revival Mulder and Scully are shot, snapped out of their hellish universe, being handed a second chance to get their lives right. The mytharc unfolds more reasonably, with the truth coming to light and Samantha making her way home-- hope, healing, and second chances for all.

Mulder and Scully experience alternate universe versions of each other, briefly; then take their relationship to the next level when reunited (aided by the fact he got her pregnant.)

perhaps an unpopular opinion but this man (the senator) had miles more intrigue than the man cast as smoking man... he just had a charisma I think would’ve translated really well to an evil psychopathic, amused by the humans he plays with like chess pieces on a board villain.

he also looks exactly like someone I would cast to play the role of DDs/Mulders father. I wouldve had no questions about the fact Teena stepped out with him and no questions when his paternity was questioned.

On June 19, 1998, the X-Files jumped from the small screen to premiere as a feature film The X-Files: Fight the Future. Creator Chris Carter, cast and crew had hoped after season 5 to continue the series as films, however Fox insisted that it continue on as a TV series. The next The X-Files film wouldn't appear until 5 years after the first run of the series cancelled (The X-Files: I Want To Believe July 25, 2008). The movie saw a new development in the pending alien invasion and gave a reason to re-open the X-Files, which had been closed in season 5. It teased fans with a kiss between Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). The movie also saw the demise of The Well Manicured Man (John Neville). Some of the TV series regulars who appeared in the movie were The Cigarette-Smoking Man (William B Davis), A.D. Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Langly (Dean Haglund), Byers (Bruce Harwood), Frohike (Tom Braidwood), Group Elder (Don S Williams), 2nd Elder (George Murdock), and the Black Haired Man (Michael Shamus Wiles). Some of the characters that were exclusive to the movie were Kurtzweil (Martin Landau), Bronschweig (Jeffrey DeMunn), Cassidy (Blythe Danner), Michaud (Terry O'Quinn), Strughold (Armin Mueller-Stahl), Fire Captain Cooles (Gary Grubbs), and The Barmaid (Glenne Headly). Collector's Edition: cgb

cgb's specialty seems to be confusion, mixed signals, and the pain arising from both. A tinge of hopelessness lingers in the close of each fic; but the mood, tone, and language aren't swallowed up in complete despair or bitterness. It is just, the author's work seems to say, the way it is.

Who Did Sin

There are those who say she's difficult. There's a woman two cells down who has screaming fits and a woman in Cell Block D who has narcolepsy and is prone to falling asleep in the shower, but they say she's difficult because she should be grateful they're all trying so hard to help the poor little blind girl out.

The poor little blind murderer. Funny how quickly that tag falls off the end.

Post Mind's Eye Marty's life in prison.

Every Purpose

He parks on the couch and notes the cushions are sinking lower on one end than the other. A time to get a bed. He had a bed once. A bed in the bedroom. Scully must have thought he had the whole bachelor thing going on pretty satisfactorily until she saw the bedroom. Now she thinks he's a monk, which for all intents and purposes he is but he once had a bed and woman in it. The bed left soon after Diana.

He runs a palm across his face, shifts rice around the bottom of a rice container, and contemplates Gibson Praise.

He puts the tape in the VCR, switches the television on using the remote and watches Gibson cheat death one more time.

The End Mulder's mixed thoughts on the return of his ex-wife, Gibson's call-out comment, and Scully's distancing behavior.

Song for the Forsaken

The blonde next to him looks significantly better when she's not carrying an alien virus. Her mood hasn't improved, though. She tells him to drink water and the stewardess brings Evian. "You need to replenish your fluids," she says and he does what he is told.

He thinks he should ask her where they're going but he knows her well enough to know she's waiting for the right moment - probably some time after the meal. She insists on nutrition first, his well being. He still doesn't know what it means.

The Ninth Plague

She reaches out a hand to his back, places a hand on the dressing and finds it soaked through. "You'll need to change this," she says. She touches the bandages on the edge and wonders how much damage she'll do it she takes it off. She tries to remember the procedure. First Aid instruction is required on a regular basis at the Bureau and she wishes she'd paid more attention in her last session. She wishes it were the kind of thing she remembered.

"Great," he says. He shrugs his shoulders a little. "I'm like a leaky faucet."

S9 Doggett and Reyes and their bumpy, rocky personal relationship intertwine with a "chameleon" case.

Unfamiliar (Jump to the Left Remix)

They're not here now. He escaped.

Or rather, he was rescued. He's escaped before. He's made something of an art out of escaping. They find him again eventually but it's only a matter of time before he's found a new way to give them the slip. It helps pass the time.

On this occasion, however, it is the FBI who discover him in an abandoned train car. They tell him he is the sole survivor of what looks like a mass murder. They rule him out as a suspect because he was obviously imprisoned at the time but they ask him a lot of questions he doesn't know how to answer.

AU-- Pre-S1 Mulder was hybridized and imprisoned by the Consortium most of his existence. Everyone in his life eventually betrayed him... but he hopes-- though doesn't expect-- that, maybe, one Dana Scully will help him.
