Lauren Lyle doesn't have crazy shippers trashing her and her boyfriend, hiring private investigators to prove she and he aren't actually together or creating fiction about her and her co-star Cesar. Plus, not every celebrity is into promoting and sharing their private lives on line with million of strangers. And in spite of all the garbage shippers thrown Cait's way for 10 years, she's managed to be with Tony, who she married and had a child with. By the end of 2024 OL will be just a memory. She will finally leave it behind and rarely see Sam who will continue on the same path making B movies and shilling his booze to whatever is left of OL mommies.
First of all: we are coming from an Easter holiday, I don't know if you celebrate it in a religious sense, but we usually leave these holidays lighter and happier, so why so much bitterness? Second: why are you hurting yourself by reading shippers' blogs, where you will find opinions contrary to yours, which will make you angry and cause you suffering? Now to answer: no one can take away from Lauren and Cesar the merit of having been light and open from the beginning. And this has always been easy for them because they have nothing to hide. Nobody ships them, because from the beginning the friendship between them is something that can be seen, in fact. From the beginning they post photos together with their respective partners, from the beginning they don't create mysteries when they meet. Everything we see from the two (and from anyone who has social media) is what they want to show us and Cesar and Lauren have shown us all these years how spontaneous they are. They just act like normal friends who have nothing to hide. About Stalkers you forgot to mention the fans who travel (and even move) to Glasgow to try to meet and get a glimpse of C's home life (unsuccessfully). He also forgot to mention the fan who went to an awards show and screamed T's name as if he were a celebrity, making him practically run away from the venue in mortification. Well, these people are not shippers, you don't have to complain about them here on my blog. And about celebrities and social media: anyone who really doesn't want people/fans to know anything about their life acts like Tobias Menzies. You don't know what his garden looks like, his dishes, his sheets, the walls of his house, his relatives, where he was possibly last week, not even the last female friendship he made, simply because he doesn't post anything of this and doesn't even talk about it in interviews. Posting about personal life and then complaining about privacy is contradictory to say the least. And lastly: based on your bitterness and the fact that you try to read things that hurt you: have you ever thought about going to therapy? I know you'll take this as an insult, but I'm serious. Sometimes destructive behaviors are in small nuances of our lives and we don't realize it.

With him in SF in early September I wonder if they'll shoot S8 without any break. They are filming the 6th episode, with 4 weeks/block=2 eps. + 1 week for all table reads they should be done by end of August. The end is near & 12 years in the making by the time S8 airs.
I received a number of these similar asks in the last weeks already but didn't get to answer it in the way I wanted (sorry for the delay)
First of all to avoid some confusion, as far as I know he said he was gonna receive the SWF Award at Top Shelf event in October! I don't know why people keep saying September?
Caitriona's movie The Amateur was scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024, however the release is delayed and will now be on April 11, 2025
source
I do (of course) not have a filming schedule, so the short answer on will they have a summer break is; I don't know.
But we can speculate and think about a few things I considered. No facts of course, purely speculation.
Previous seasons we always could find some little clues and hints from time to time during filming, but this season it's extra hard. I shared what I could about location, but it's not always clear if it concerns OL S8 or BOB. That goes also for the clues we often would find on IG from the crew, which it seems are switching being busy on both series. The cast from BOB posts more little hints and clues than the cast from OL. Sometimes the supporting characters do, like today Kieran Bew
Kieran Bew IGS 21 June 2024
I also considered that S7 part 2 might have been altered a bit from how it was originally planned. As we were wondering during filming of S7 that there was no Fersali on set. Lauren and Cesar both were busy on other projects. But lately we've seen them again in Glasgow, and I really wonder if they filmed some extra scenes we will see in S7 part 2. It's hard to imagine how the storyline about Claire returning to the US, Philadelphia for Henri Christian's health problems (Fergus and Marsali's child) could omit Fersali. So perhaps they added scenes to S7 part 2, hence the long delay for it? (I could be completely wrong but we will know when it airs and if we'll see Fersali in S7 part 2 we know)
Anyway, we don't know where S7 part 2 ends, but if we are still in 3 different time periods (which does look that way given Diarmaid (Buck) seems to work on S8 as well, I figure not all cast is always needed on set. I do think, well actually am quite sure, some already had some time off in May. So perhaps, depending on the characters needed they scheduled it that way that people can have a wee break. I do wonder though about crew members, but perhaps BOB, which already started filming earlier this year will be done by July or so, and crew can take a wee break as well.
As for Sam, I do have an idea why his schedule didn't fit the Highlander con in July... but I keep that for my self for now. When time comes I'll see if I was right about it or not.

Alain Delon, the giant French actor and film producer who worked with some of Europe’s most revered 20th-century directors, died at 88 💔 in Douchy-Montcorbon (Centre-Val de Loire). Celebrated actor and star of Plein Soleil Le Samoura, The Leopard, and many more, was immortal, his talent, charisma, aura and melancholic unforgettable face shook up our lives and made him destined for a Hollywood career at a young age, but he chose France, which made him an international icon, and earned him enduring popularity.
Born in 1935 in Sceaux in the Paris 🇫🇷 suburbs, Delon was expelled from several schools before leaving at 14 to work in a butcher’s shop. After a stint in the navy - French Navy Fusiliers(during which he saw combat in France’s colonial war in Vietnam), he was dishonourably discharged in 1956 and drifted into acting. He was spotted by the Hollywood producer David O Selznick at Cannes and signed to a contract, but decided to try his luck in French cinema and made his debut with a small role in Yves Allégret’s 1957 thriller Send a Woman When the Devil Fails.

The most beautiful man to ever live.
Alain Delon in his breakout film Plein Soleil (Purple Noon) 1960 ‧ Thriller/Crime. Everything captured in this film is beautiful... the locations, the light, and above all the people. You should watch it... obviously.
Originally the 1960 French thriller Plein Soleil – was remade for a modern audience as The Talented Mr Ripley.
The fictional town Mongibello, where most of the film takes place, was filmed around Naples, Italy. The location adds an exquisite touch to the storyline.
Adieu Alain!

Gibson Garage London -The Ultimate Guitar Experience- To Open in Historic London, Early 2024
Gibson, the iconic and leading American instrument brand, has shaped sound across generations and genres of music, becoming one of the most relevant, played, and loved guitar brands around the world. Gibson is proud to announce it will officially open a new Gibson Garage in London. The Gibson Garage is the ultimate guitar experience and destination for music lovers across the globe, and the place to explore Gibson’s 130-year music history. The Gibson Garage London marks the first-ever Gibson flagship store outside of the U.S. and follows the wildly successful opening of the Gibson Garage Nashville.
Cesar Gueikian, Gibson President and CEO, states, “When we first began designing the Gibson Garage, our global flagship, we asked ourselves, ‘What do we want our fans to experience when walking into Gibson?’ We imagined an immersive dream space where fans walk in and say, ‘Wow, this is the place that Gibson should have always had!’ The Garage we built in Nashville is an exciting place to experience Gibson music and lifestyle through instruments, sound, media, and apparel. The Garage is designed to be a part of the local music community with a live stage featuring performances and events from icons and emerging artists on any given day of the week. The Gibson Garage in Nashville has had an extraordinary impact on the music scene in addition to becoming a global music destination and we are thrilled to bring the Garage to London. As one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, London has always been an influential musical ecosystem and became an obvious choice of where to open our next Gibson Garage.”
Opening in early 2024, and located in Historic London just off Oxford Street, the Gibson Garage London will feature 4,500 square feet of retail space. Inside the Gibson Garage, visitors can plug-in and play more than 300 electric and acoustic guitars from Gibson Custom Shop to Epiphone, explore the entire collection of MESA/Boogie amplifiers, Maestro pedals, and more.
At the Gibson Garage, music lovers will experience live performances, can design a dream Made-to-Measure guitar in the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab, catch a live taping of one of the award-winning Gibson TV series, and enjoy captivating, interactive storytelling and memorabilia inside the historic space. Fans can play all things Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer, MESA/Boogie, and Maestro, try out the full line of electric and acoustic guitars, and take a piece of history home with one-of-a-kind limited edition guitars, gear and accessories, as well as exclusive apparel collaborations. Whether a seasoned professional musician, a casual guitar player, a beginner, or simply a music fan, the Gibson Garage is open to all, and will be a must-see destination in central London.
Expect an announcement in the coming months regarding the opening of the new Gibson Garage London.

Synopsis
From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York, Edith Piaf’s life was a battle to sing and survive, live and love. Raised in poverty, Edith’s magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the greatest names of the period -Yves Montand, Jean Cocteau, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Dietrich, Marcel Cerdan and others- made her a star all around the world. But in her audacious attempt to tame her tragic destiny, the Little Sparrow – her nickname – flew so high she could not fail to burn her wings.
What I liked about this film
There are some roles which just seem to me made for certain actors. Or perhaps there are certain actors who are just made to play particular figures in history. Whichever way you look at it, Cotillard's performance in this film is outstanding and has an almost mesmeric perfection in every scene. At no point is the audience thinking about what a great job she's doing of imitating Piaf, she just IS Piaf. That's how good this performance is. It makes this film unmissable and so much more than just a bio-pic.
Whether you are familiar with the stories of Piaf's life and her difficult childhood, poverty and street singing beginnings or you just know her name, this film can be immensely enjoyable as there is a great story, wonderful zipping between the "present" of the 1960s and her past with a tight cast of characters. If you love classic chansons, this film is for you! Little stories about how songs were written for her to sing, how she worked on developing her singing and expression are just so fascinating.
So with all of that, I had to include this film in a Cinéma Saturday blog post. This film incorporates lots of what Francophiles love about France: history, music and culture. (It's a fabulous film for anyone not so in love with France too.) Piaf defined a kind of hope and courage so needed during WWII and she rose to immense fame and popularity the world over.
We follow Édith in early childhood and get to see the poverty and remarkable situations in which she grew up, often being dramatically abandoned or dramatically taken away, she seems to have suffered a great deal. Such was the case for so many people at that time who lived in abject poverty, following WWI, in situations and conditions which today seem as alien as medieval medicine. She grew up in a bordello, was blinded by keratitis for several years of her childhood and then abruptly taken off on tour around France with her acrobat father. Estranged from her mother, and to suffer her own losses of child, lovers and friends, Piaf's life is like an embellished dramatic fiction, except that it just isn't! Thus the makings of a dramatic and very affecting film were forged in her experience and Dahan makes a beautiful film which deals with these events very well. Each era is very well realised from her birth in 1915 to her death in 1963, we see both the poverty-stricken Piaf and the excess-driven chanteuse starring in her top billing in Paris and New York, with everything in between. From immense highs to heartbreaking lows, this films really gives you these points in Piaf's life and takes you along for the journey. It's immersive through its careful execution, production design and costumes and Cotillard's remarkable performance.
As the audience we find the story involving and interesting, but we are captivated by Cotillard's Piaf, just as I imagine we might have been with the real little sparrow/ little kid (la môme in French is often translated as either the sparrow or the kid). For Cotillard, she learnt the Piaf songs and lip-synced to perfection. She was immersed too, just as the duainece is. Of course that is also difficult to move on from, as an actor. Cotillard immersed herself completely in Piaf's life, her gravelly voice, with shaved eyebrows and high hairline and contorting herself into looking Piaf's diminutive height. She has famously described how hard it was to let go of Piaf after the filming had finished, quoted in The Guardian:
Living in that 'darkness' of the creative process where you have lost yourself in someone else's life gives us the magic we see on film. So as difficult as it was for Cotillard, we have to be glad she did all the work she did as this performance is completely unforgettable!
Let yourself be immersed in early twentieth century France (and the USA) along with one of the most recognisable soundtracks you'll ever hear, full as it is with Piaf's world-famous hits including La Vie en Rose, Je ne regrette rien, Milord, Hymne à l'amour and many more. Recognised finally for her single La Vie en Rose (1945) and inducted into the Grammys Hall of Fame in 1998, Piaf has always been special, revered in France and became famous worldwide. As time goes on and the centenary of her birth was celebrated in 2015, if a little more muted than previous celebrations, Piaf deserves to be remembered still. The classics are sometimes forgotten in the noise and clamour of contemporary life.
Singing with so much feeling and emotion, she has an ability to carry you along with her, just like Dahan does in this film. Let yourself be taken away into a different time, with the beautiful music of Piaf. A remarkable woman who lived an incredible life, sadly shortened by liver cancer, she died in 1963. Given the high honour of the French flag over her coffin, she is buried in Père-Lachaise, where over 500,000 people lined the route of the funeral cortège to the cemetery, where another 40,000 people came to pay their respects to the singer who died aged 47. It is said that Jean Cocteau said , "Ah, la Piaf est morte," … "Je peux mourir aussi." [Ah, Piaf's dead. I can die too. "] And then he promptly died of a heart attack.(The Guardian)
Probably the greatest French singer of all time, Piaf was a star that shone brightly in the sky and continues to do so through her musical legacy.

MARK MCCLAFFERTY
PRODUCER/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER MARK MCCLAFFERTY PRESENTS A RELEASE OF “the Climb” in June 2024
THE CLIMB, AN INTERNATIONAL AWARDING WINNING FAMILY FILM, MARK MCCLAFFERTY PRESENTS All-star cast Two Time Academy Award Nominee, John Hurt, Academy Award Nominee, David Strathairn, and Young Artist Award Winner, Gregory Smith, in a powerful story of courage LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Spellbound Pictures Ltd USA LLC is proud to re-release the award-winning family classic, The Climb, on DVD. The winner of six International Film Festival Awards, including the UNICEF Award in Berlin, The Climb has received stellar reviews including from Michael Wilmington, at the Chicago Tribune, who called The Climb “a jewel well-worth seeking out for its humanity, humor, and most of all, the brilliant hurting of John Hurt.” At the core of The Climb is a powerful, moving story which poses the question: “What defines courage and honor?” Too often, in the midst of the current social and political climate, the answer is muddled and responses are oversimplified or one-track. The film portrays courage in different forms and in different people, whether it is an old man dying of cancer, a wore-torn ex-WWII veteran, a single parent whose town considers him a coward, a doting sister who defends her brother or a young boy who dreams of nothing more than climbing a 203-foot tower. The Climb has universal themes and encourages discussions among family members and friends. Directed by Cesar Award (La Balance) winner Bob Swaim, written by Christopher Award-winner Vince McKwin (Fly Away Home) and produced by award-winners #Mark_McClafferty, #Pamela_Edwards_McClafferty, Robert Rea, and Tom Parkinson, The Climb tells the story of three men from three generations who free themselves individually and together from life's inequities and inevitabilities. John Langer (John Hurt -Two-time Academy Award nominee, Elephant Man, Midnight Express), a crusty old civic engineer, has an arsenal full of memories. With irreverent wit, he rattles on in his irascible humor burning his spicy stories into the imagination of a young neighbor kid, Danny Himes (Gregory Smith, TV’s Everwood). Danny is a gifted, spirited athlete with something to prove. Worldly, old man Langer has turned his back on proving anything at all. It's post WWII. Danny's father, Earl (David Strathairn, Academy Award nominee, Good Night, and Good Luck), did not serve in the military and is considered a coward. Danny excels to overcome his father's reputation while Earl is actually more a man than the town knows. “You don't smoke, you don't drink, and you don't screw. What kind of man are you anyway?" Langer asks Danny. The more appropriate question is: "What kind of men are they?" The nation’s top critics praised The Climb and its rich performances. The Houston Chronicle hailed, "[John] Hurt brings Langer to life with… unapologetic genuineness. A family film that deserves mass consumption." The San Francisco Examiner echoed: "Inspiring! A family film in the truest sense. Properly nostalgic, beautifully made! Has something for everyone." The Hollywood Reporter (Cannes Film Festival) highlighted the performances: "[David] Strathairn is...compelling, while [John] Hurt pulls out all the stops and delivers a highly entertaining turn. [Gregory Smith] is the rare screen adolescent who is both credible and interesting." Marla Sokoloff (TV’s The Practice and Desperate Housewives) and Sarah Buxton (Little Children, TV’s Sunset Beach) round out the all-star cast and more than hold their own opposite their male counterparts. The Village News/Southwest News sums it best: “The Climb is the type of sleeper film that deserves to be discovered. Tender, touching, tremendously exciting, and very funny. Hurt gives a grand performance and Smith does a remarkable job." In 1999, The Climb had a limited theatrical release. Afterwards, it was seen on HBO, STARS and BRAVO. For those who discovered The Climb, they had a rewarding theatrical experience, but there were many film buffs who never had the privilege of watching this gem. With this re-release, we are hoping that more fans will discover The Climb. Like its story, The Climb has a lot of courage and will live on through the generations.

"Lessons are not given, they are taken"-Cesare Pavese
"In every journey, there is a moment of uncertainty, a crossing from the familiar into the unknown”- Unknown. However, it is in these moments that our resilience is tested and our potential for growth truly begins to shine. As I reflect on my first day in the community block, the 4th of March 2024.
A picture taken before leaving for the Marianridge community.
I remember feeling a mix of emotions but I held onto the words of a Chantal Christopher "If you walk into with a positive mindset, half of the battle is over". This shift of mindset became my guiding light, directing me through the challenging yet rewarding experiences that awaited me in the community of Marianridge. In this week's blog, I am pleased to share my reflections on the profound growth, both professionally and personally, through the lens of an occupational therapy student in community practice and a way forward into community service.
Professionally, I got to learn about the Asset based community development (ABCD) through theory but witnessing it in action within the community has been an eye opening experience especially with how the community itself can achieve community upliftment through a strengths based mindset.
This picture above presents the core principles of the ABCD approach.
Kretzmann and Mcknight defined the approach of ABCD in shifting the focus from needs to the strengths and encouraging communities to create new opportunities and solutions to their own challenges with existing resources (Learn, 2024). This approach did not ignore the problems within the community however focused on strengths to provide a positive outlook rather than a discouraging one (Kanyimba, 2014).
youtube
In the work within the Marianridge or KwaNdengezi community, instead of focusing on the problems at hand, the ABCD approach prompted me and my colleagues to identify and make use of the community's existing resources effectively. This approach also emphasized a proactive attitude, enabling us to look into the community's strengths and capabilities to receive the necessary assistance. Through this process, I've learned the importance of fostering genuine partnerships with the community caregivers (CCG), project managers and community members to take ownership of their own well-being, and embracing a strengths-based mindset. ABCD has not only enriched my professional approach but has also deepened my appreciation for the richness and diversity of communities I serve.
Another professional lesson within my community block placement, is being awarded the opportunity of witnessing the transformative power of advocacy in improving an individual's health and well-being. Over the weeks, encountered a client in a critical state. This client had a stroke, was HIV positive and lacking family support in his recovery journey. Through collaborative efforts with the Marianridge Community Caregiver, together with my colleagues we mobilized resources and connected with social worker and approached the counselor's office to help facilitate a placement in a supportive home environment. This proactive intervention not only addressed the client's immediate needs but also provided him with the access to vital care and support, promoting wellbeing which he was not receiving at home.
As an occupational therapy student this case allowed me to witness the change and profound impact of advocacy in advocating for marginalized individuals and fostering inclusive health practices within communities. As it is months away till I begin my community service journey next year, I am committed to ensuring that advocacy remains at the forefront of my approach to addressing social injustices impacting wellbeing and promote holistic well-being for my clients. By knowing the interconnectedness of different aspects of health, I aspire to advocate not only for individual clients but also for systemic changes that address underlying social determinants of health in the spaces I occupy.
Ever since I learnt about the ABCD approach and its effectiveness in addressing community issues. I can safely say I have adopted a similar mindset in my personal life. Previously, I tended to face challenges alone, keeping them to myself. However, Herman Melville's quote, 'We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men,' resonated deeply with me. It reminded me of the interconnectedness of humanity and the importance of seeking support and collaboration, both in community work and personal struggles. Embracing this perspective, I now approach my personal challenges with a willingness to reach out for assistance, recognizing that we are all connected and with together we are stronger.
As an occupational therapy student, my journey of professional growth in pediatrics has been both nerve-wrecking and enlightening. Despite the two years of theoretical pediatric teaching, this year, and this community block in particular has marked my first encounter with a pediatric client. This opportunity has allowed me to gain insight into a child’s developmental needs and challenges. This involved conducting school assessments with learners from the Marianridge primary school and assessing an autistic child on my own, which was scary, given my limited practical exposure. I remember feeling anxious the night before the assessment due to societal misconceptions about all autistic children being aggressive and can cause harm to anybody they meet. However, I embraced the challenge and to my surprise this autistic child was cooperative and did not give me any challenges during the assessment. This experience highlighted that two people of the same diagnosis can still present uniquely. This experience not only affirmed my passion for pediatric occupational therapy but also highlighted the importance of perseverance and self-belief.
As I continue to reflect, this has been the most exhausting block I have encountered, which is ironically only my first block of the year. Time management has proven to be a significant challenge during my community block.
youtube
The tiredness I experienced involved physical, mental and burnout. Upon reviewing the attached video link, I became self-aware of the numerous poor habits I had developed in the first half of the semester which included poor sleep patterns impacting my overall performance, while a poor diet left me feeling weak throughout the day. This realization serves as a personal lesson, emphasizing the critical importance of prioritizing my health just as I advocate for my clients to prioritize theirs. As I currently navigate my recess semester break, I am determined in implementing practical strategies. For starters, not over committing myself to many roles and being realistic with my time and capabilities to ensure I effectively manage my time and avoid being a victim of the three types of tiredness that previously overwhelmed me.
"Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are tons of ups and downs. It's a journey of discovery - there are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys of despair."- Rick Warren. This quote summarizes the essence of my four year journey as a student navigating the unpredictable nature of personal and professional development, marked by both moments of successes and challenges. Therefore, I am excited and nervous of the community service year ahead but also curious on the lessons that awaits me.
