What do you think about the American glowing reviews of BOMB? Usually, there is some restraint and balance but here they are all 100% positive. Except for a few UK and AU reviews that are not as flattering the US reviews seem totally skewed. Not even one mention that quite a few scenes are exact replicas of the original and that BOMB production should have avoided plagiarizing its mother ship so much. Am I the only one noticing this?
Reviews ahead of airing the show, are most of the time written by journo's that were invited for the screening, and mainly there to promote the show. I scanned a few, haven't read them all.
If you want honest reviews, wait till more episodes (or maybe S1) is ending, read the reviews from actual viewers on IMDb, skip the ten an 1 stars. That most of the time gives the best perspective.
Oh btw. For the ones who want to watch, (but can't or don't want to subscribe to YASS (yet another streaming service), someone just sent me this link (episodes 1&2 are there to find). Enjoy

Curious if anyone who has been an OL fan since day one remembers this kind of lavish promotion for it as Starz is doing not just in the US but Australia and NZ along with huge billboards in NY’s Time Square.
There's a little difference of course, as when OL started, it wasn't an established show yet. Though they also went to SDCC, no in Hall H though, but nevertheless. And this year Starz paid for the billboards next to the venue of SDCC (not only for OL & BOB but also for Spartacus) Premieres were in more places, I've seen some footage from DC
To be fair, the premiere in Australia was organised by Stan, the network where BoB can be watched on over there. So not Starz.
I'm actually more surprised, or maybe not so much, that there is nothing at all in the UK, or even in Scotland. For a show entirely based in Scotland, you might had expect a bit over there, right? Guess Starz didn't consider that

Caitríona Balfe as “Caitlin” and Orlando Bloom as “Boxer”Photo courtesy of Republic Pictures
Aug 6, 2025 2:38 PM EDT
Since Outlander wrapped its eighth and final season, series star Caitríona Balfe has looked to film for her next projects.
First released, and currently streaming on Hulu, was The Amateur, an action thriller. Balfe stars opposite Rami Malik in the story, based on the 1981 novel by Robert Littell, about a brilliant CIA decoder whose world comes crashing down when his wife dies in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, his intelligence becomes the ultimate weapon as he embarks on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, with a little help from Balfe’s character Inquiline.
And today, the trailer for her next film, The Cut, was released. Co-starring with Orlando Bloom and John Turturro, the movie depicts the story of a boxer (Bloom) who comes out of retirement to vie for his championship title through a grueling and unsanctioned weight-cutting program with a coach (Turturro) who knows no limits. As a result, he alienates himself from reality and loved ones, including his girlfriend Caitlin Harney (Balfe), as he spirals out of control.
In the dramatic trailer, we see Caitlin’s concern for the boxer, who has to drop an impossible 26 pounds in six days but also get into the best shape of his life. She says, “He’s not a competitive fighter anymore.”
Boz tells the boxer, “The problem is your girl loves you, so she’s only going to hurt you so much. What you need is someone who loves something more than you. To me, you’re just a poker chip.” Regardless, Bloom’s character seems more locked in than ever to put his body on the line for the chance at a belt.

Following The Cut, the Outlander star returns to the 18th century for a role in Sense and Sensibility. She will appear in the fresh take on Jane Austen’s classic from Focus Features and Working Title Films, along with previously announced Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, respectively.

The Crown star Tobias Menzies, Reece Shearsmith (Inside No 9) and Yumi Asō (Perfect Days) have joined the cast of Apple TV+’s Prodigies starring Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe.
Andrene Ward-Hammond (Your Honor), Sophia Di Martino (Loki), Nabhaan Rizwan (Kaos), Meera Syal (Roar) and Lolly Adefope (The Franchise) have also boarded the show, which is created by Sharpe and follows two ex-child prodigies.
The ensemble additions lend weight to one of Apple’s hottest upcoming shows. Starring the in-demand Sharpe and Edebiri, Prodigies follows Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe), two ex-prodigies who have been together since they were children. Now in their early 30s, they are starting to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood. Inevitably, they find themselves asking the same questions of their relationship.
Asō could recently be seen in Oscar-nominated Wim Wenders movie Perfect Days. Menzies is best known for playing Prince Philip in The Crown Seasons 3 and 4, while Shearsmith co-created hit BBC anthology Inside No. 9.
Prodigies comes from Black Doves producer Sister and is created and written by Sharpe, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Edebiri, Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear and Katie Carpenter for Sister.

Love Again is being removed from Netflix on August 9.
https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a65559782/love-again-leaving-netflix/
Streaming licenses are set for a certain period. When the contract ends, Netflix decides whether to renew it. Other factors like popularity, cost, and the rise of competing streaming services also influence decisions.
After being added to the streamer earlier this year, Netflix has confirmed that Love Again will be leaving the site next weekend on 9 August.
I was looking it up, as it isn't the same for all countries, in Europe it's even different per country. In the Netherlands it's already not available anymore on Netflix. Seems it was added in February. I personally didn't pay much attention to it, as it is not my kind of movie.
Talking about Netflix and movies that are gone from Netflix (or soon will be)
I know a lot of people saw this post of Starz yesterday (and reposted by Sam as well as Graham)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And many jumping to the wrong conclusions, blind as they only see Sam or the MIK hashtag. Or thought after all the encounters of last week in SD and LA, something has been negotiated.
You all might have missed the Happy Gilmore hashtag though... and the caption isn't about Sam or Mik but Adam Sandler.
The sequel Happy Gilmore 2 is just released on Netflix
Tumblr media
but according to this article Netflix only gave watchers a week time to watch the original Happy Gilmore movie from 1996!
Happy Gilmore is leaving Netflix after tomorrow, July 31. That’s a shame, because there’s one thing you’ll take away from Happy Gilmore 2, it’s that you really want to rewatch the first movie. Every month, Netflix adds and removes titles from its library. August 2025 is no exception, and, unfortunately, Happy Gilmore (1996) is one of the titles leaving Netflix on August 1. That means your last day to watch Happy You’ll still be able to watch Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix. The sequel is a Netflix-produced original that will be streaming on Netflix in perpetuity. But where can you watch the original Happy Gilmore on streaming after July 31?
Guess where you can stream Happy Gilmore now?
Exactly... on Starz. So sorry to disappoint you if you thought a MiK3 was coming.... as this was just a simple marketing 101 for the movie Happy Gilmore, with the only thing in common the golf part and had in fact nothing to do with MIK. So just a cross over promo, maybe not done in the best way as most of the people missed the essence of it.
The marketing department should get some inspiritation maybe from this

Terence will also play Arch Bug in BoB , I was at the Tattoo preview night on 31st July luckily received corporate tickets . He did a great job as the storyteller/narrator a role that has been missing for several years . Personally though I found the role somewhat annoying/ distracting , with his performance often overlapping with the start of other performers so you couldn’t always hear him . I’m Scottish however and know much of the history he was telling suppose overseas visitors appreciated him more .
It's always a great show, it's often broadcasted here on Dutch telly. Hope to see it

oh, and yes comments like from Jeremy Irvine

and also this
