Well I can't say I'm super well versed in fandom lore and history, and knowing where all this stuff originates from. I'm guessing they came about due to the growth of fans of older men in media. Babygirlifying 40-60 y/o men and being super invested in shipping them together and whatnot

As for me personally, I haven't really thought about Hades x Jafar. But I am fond of Hades x Facilier. Definitely ship them together. Just cause I think it'd be fun, and cause Mal and Celia (and Freddie for extended media fans) would be cute as stepsisters

Oh well also I guess Hades x Jafar would be weird since I ship Jal. Just thought of that one haha

i say I can’t write fanfiction but I also have a 50 chapter fic in my head where Uma and Evie become best friends since they have to split the custody of Celia since Evie had her before Uma got off the Isle and Celia is Uma’s sister (duh) so they both become best friends and balance the struggle of being a villain kid in Auradon and sometimes being discriminated by it (also uma is a youtuber and evie is running Evies4hearts)

Descendants OC Compilation Part 1

Yes, another post to outline my Descendants, but now with all faceclaims and titles - this is mostly for my own reference but of course feel free to enjoy!  Also this will hopefully help me keep track of which OCs to make proper introductions for so feel free to tell me your favourites! 

Avalon Le Fay in King And Lionheart (fc. Emma Dumont): Daughter of Merlin and Morgana Le Fay (mixing disney with bbc’s merlin)

Nimue, daughter of Arthur and Gwen, and Avalon Le Fay, daughter or Merlin and Morgana, had always been thick as thieves, and had always been ready to declare war on Auradon.  Ever since the formation of the Isle, King Adam and the Fairy Godmother had been insisting that Morgana was still a villain, and therefore belonged on the Isle, and once Avalon was born, she agreed–so long as her daughter could stay in Camelot.  When Arthur was killed barely a year later, Merlin and Gwen partnered up to raise their daughters and run a kingdom, until the girls would be old enough to do so themselves.  Of course Auradon never trusted the one kingdom that refused to unite, and insisted that the girls be sent to Auradon prep, and so they went–reluctant as could be. Everything was fine, mostly–the other princesses looked down on Nimue’s love of swordfighting, and Avalon was never seen as anything but a villain kid, but they still had each other.  They could tolerate it all, biding their time. But at sixteen years of age, everything they’d ever planned gets thrown for a loop when it’s declared that four children from the Isle would be moving to Auradon. crossover with @seaweedhufflepuffocs​

Maria Frollo in Long Live The Queen (fc. Hazelle/Bellamie): Daughter of Claude Frollo

Maria Frollo hated her father.  It wasn’t an uncommon sentiment on the Isle, but it was still true.  She hated him.  More than she’d ever hated anyone.  Lucky for her, she met Queenie and Helena in the marketplace one day and found herself being taken under their wings.  She knows that she isn’t tough, not like they are, but if there’s one thing she learned from her father, it was how to rain hellfire down on her enemies

Queenie in Long Live The Queen (fc. Darya Lebedeva): Daughter of the Queen Of Hearts

First there was Mal, then there was Uma.  Mal defected, turned good; Uma had a martyr complex without the brains to do, well, anything.  Now they’re gone, and there’s a new queen in town.  Queenie, along with her right hand man Helena, and their loyal supporter Maria, is running the show now.  And if anyone crosses her, she knows what to do; off with their heads 

Helena in Long Live The Queen (fc. Kimmy Schram): Daughter of Hades

Living on the Isle wasn’t easy, but there was something particularly difficult about it for a goddess.  Her dad couldn’t be kept on the Isle–they’d tried, no one died anymore, he was allowed to return to the Underworld.  But when Helena was born, she was cast away to join the rest of the Villains and their children, forced to fend for herself.  Being a goddess had its advantages too, she was able to survive and rise up with no problem.  Soon she was the right hand to the newest queen, and hell would freeze before she let anyone take that away from them.

Elise Charming in Enchanted (fc. Lili Reinhart): Daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming

Elise is Chad’s twin sister and polar opposite (well other than being preppy and a cheerleader).  She truly believes in second chances and is super excited for the VKs to come to Auradon?  And definitely falls in love with Evie but thinks that Evie is straight

Finley Rider in Stolen Heart (Fc. Virginia Gardner): Daughter of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider

Her name is Princess Finley Ryder - Corona is officially part of Auradon but they still have their own royal line.  When she was ten she was at some fancy gala party at the museum and got really bored, and got caught stealing Jafar’s staff (no one noticed that she also got both lamps) and she gets sent to the Isle on one of the shipping barges, and the first person she meets is Jay.  Once they’re a bit closer and she’s been officially accepted into the VK circle, she tells him that she still has both of the lamps, Jay makes her promise not to tell anyone else and they’ll keep them as a last resort bargaining stool.  And then they get summoned to auradon (she’s not supposed to go but Jay convinces Jafar who convinces Maleficent who “convinces” the driver) and she has to face the people who exiled her

Princess Isabelle in Tale As Old As Time (fc. Danielle Campbell): Daughter of Belle and Adam

Ben’s twin sister, who is actually the firstborn.  She believes that she should be the queen (and so does Belle) but her father insists on Ben because Isabelle is significantly harder to control.  Her endgame love interest was going to be Mal but now I’m torn between Mal and Audrey for her.

Violet Kingsleigh in Up The Rabbit Hole (fc. Meg Donnelly): Daughter of Alice and the Hatter

Violet Kingston loved growing up in Wonderland, she really did.  She loved spending mornings in her aunt’s - the queen’s - gardens; she loved fighting lessons with her parents and reading with Absolem; she loved playing with the Tweedles and hide and seek with Chess; and, of course, she adored her dad’s infamous tea parties.  Yes, Violet loved everything about Wonderland.  Especially that it wasn’t in Auradon.  It was perfect.  And then the queen is cursed, and all of Wonderland knows that Auradon is to blame.  But they can’t declare war without proof, so suddenly their young princess is being sent to Auradon prep to investigate.  Violet knows her mission.  Violet is absolutely and entirely focused.  Violet is most definitely not prepared for the boy-king to have invited a group of teenagers from the Isle Of The Lost to start school on the same day as her.

Harley Hook in Lost Girl (fc. India Eisley): Daughter of Captain Hook

Harley Hook was a pirate, through and through.  Always at her brother’s side, always with Uma and the crew, always near her beloved Gil, Harley Hook was a pirate.  And as a pirate, she absolutely hated Mal’s gang.  They thought that they were so much better than anyone, just because of Mal’s mom - big whoop, it’s not like Maleficent could even use magic on the Isle.  So yeah, Harley hated the VKs, her loyalty was to the crew, and she was never seen away from Harry or Gil.  And then the princeling decides to bring children of some of the worst villains to Auradon: Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos.  And Harley.  Harley couldn’t be more furious at being taken away from her crew, or at being sent to Auradon, or at being forced to work with the VKs to get Fairy Godmother’s wand.  But she knows that if she wants to get back to the Isle, back to her family, she needs that barrier down as much as they do.  She’s just not sure that they can cooperate long enough for that.

Francie Facilier in Shadow Tales (fc. tentatively Amandla Stenberg): Daughter of Doctor Facilier

Why is it that people on the Isle only ever talk about Celia Facilier?  Well according to her, it’s because she’s the superior sister; according to Francie Facillier, it’s because she choses to fade into the shadows from which she came.  Francie knows everything about everyone, knows every corner of the Isle, even knows how to get off of it.  But even though she’s supposed to be evil, she’s not quite evil enough to force anyone else to listen to the villains lament on their glory days, on when they were the most feared in all the land.  Whatever, big deal, who cares?  Maybe the Beast-King should have left them all dead.  But he didn’t, no way of changing it now, so maybe it’s time for Francie to put all of her knowledge to work and crown herself Queen of the Isle.

Lani in One Foot In The Sea (And One On The Shore) (fc. Madelaine Petsch): Daughter of Melody

Melody’s daughter, the first second generation child to be born, and to go to Auradon Prep.  She’s half part of Auradon (because of Eric’s kingdom) but also Atlantian which is still separated, and she’s trying to unite the two but is being torn apart by it

Trina Tremaine in I’m Still Here (fc. Lana Condor):  Daughter of Lady Tremaine

a daughter of Lady Tremaine, much younger than the other two, only a couple of years older than Dizzy.  She and Dizzy are extremely close but are separated when she’s brought to Auradon.  Probably also treated badly by Lady Tremaine, ends up becoming quite close with Cinderella during that first family day where everything went wrong.

Rosabelle in The Rose Has Her Thorns (fc. Zoey Deutch): Daughter of Gaston

A daughter of Gaston, Gil’s little sister, Ben decides that he can’t bring other VKs and not the child of his parents own villain, so Rosabelle gets brought to Auradon.  I don’t know much but I’ve decided that she becomes quite close with Belle (I think that she would have been majorly mistreated by Gaston and Belle can tell as soon as they meet) and Adam really hates that.  Her hair is naturally blonde (like Gil’s) but she dyes it on the Isle.

Titania aka Tia in Two Roads Diverged (fc. Emily Rudd): Daughter of Fairy Godmother

in a slight AU where the Beast is honestly really dark, FG has twin daughters and he forces her to send one to the Isle (I’m not sure if it’s specifically because they’d be magic or if there’s a one child rule because he doesn’t want anyone being able to overthrow him) but FG hides her away somewhere instead?  Or she does go to the Isle but then escapes in D3 when the VKs and Pirates leave after visiting Hades.  I have very little plot beyond that but in D3 when Jane and co find the statue of FG, Jane thinks of getting the wand, but when she goes in she sees this girl taking it (and not being stopped by the shield because she has the same blood) and discovers that she has a twin, and then they overthrow the beast or something - introduces herself to everybody as Tia because of the power of real names

Noelle in Only Love, Only Hate (fc. Kiernan Shipka): Daughter of Elsa

Absolutely hates Auradon because they tried to send Elsa to the Isle, but is forced to attend Auradon Prep for political reasons and she and Ben fall in love, kind of a Romeo & Juliet vibe - title comes from the Romeo And Juliet quote “my only love sprung from my only hate”

Myra Frollo in Hellfire (fc. Elle Fanning): daughter of Claude Frollo and Cinderella (nonconsensual). 

Because of the Beast’s hatred of magic and the time period of both Hunchback and BATB, Frollo is not sent to the Isle (the Beast claims that he’s a hero for his valiant effort to protect the city from witchcraft). Frollo assaults Cinderella, and Myra is the result. Beast grants Frollo custody but she occasionally gets to spend time with her mom. She’s very close with both Cinderella and Chad, but not Prince Charming. Chad knows that her father is abusive and it’s a big part of why he is so opposed to VKs coming to Auradon - if Frollo isn’t considered bad enough for the Isle then how horrible must those villains and their kids be

Lyssa in One Last Hope (fc. Vanessa Morgan): Daughter of Meg and Hercules

daughter of Hercules who the fates predicted would be evil and is therefore sent to the isle as an infant and is raised by Hades but then Ben includes her in the group being brought to Auradon

Charity in A Twist In Truth (fc. Sabrina Carpenter): daughter of Belle and Prince Charming

Doesn’t know that Adam isn’t her father until a curse is placed on his bloodline and she realizes that she’s unaffected

Thoughts About D3

Possible spoilers for those who may have still not seen it.

Already got me tearing up with that dedication at the beginning for Cam.

“Good to Be Bad” has grown on me. Not the lyrics per se but the song in general.

Even though I know the Smee twins are going to Auradon I gasped when I thought they were going to split up the twins.

Not really a fan of Mal’s engagement dress but -shrug-

I used to weirdly like Queen Leah but blaming Audrey is a no-no.

That moment after Ben proposes and Mal is hugging Belle kind of makes me want to write a oneshot where Mal lowkey does cute things for/with Belle because she really wants a mom figure.

Aw! I love seeing more of the Isle villains like Lady Tremaine and Mr. Smee. I like how you can see that they do care to an extent for their kids. Is it healthy? Hard to tell but if they do, it makes the Core 4 life on the Isle look a bit dark if they feel like their parents never loved them like mentioned in D1.

Oh, “Queen of Mean” is kinda a bop. YAAAASSSSS AUDREY!!! I’m honestly kind of rooting for you!

Why is Belle asking Mal what to do like she hasn’t dealt with her own villain? 

Ben, didn’t you say in D2 that people on the Isle are your people too? If you’re protecting Auradon, you gotta protect them too.

Evie’s house is really cute.

Yes, Evie! Thank you for calling Mal out but also, you want to see your mom? Wasn’t that what you were afraid of in D2, seeing her?

Ugh, seeing Jay, Carlos, and Evie in her kitchen is giving me plot bunny ideas where they all live together (except Mal and Ben but they visit often and Doug would be somewhere, I guess...) and help Isle kids adjust and be like a little cute family.

I like the idea that Dr. Facillier has a lot of side hustles like he’s the Headmaster of Dragon Prep, he owns a shop, and he has the arcade. In terms of the Isle, he’s pretty rich.

LOLZ the pirates stealing the bikes is hilarious. I miss my pirate boys. 

Wait, so Mal knows Hades is her dad? WTF?

So I don’t hate this Mal and Hades song but the style is kind of not what I expected they would choose for Hades.

I’m imagining the guy who Ben orders around after he hears about Audrey is Chip.

Evie, I love you girl but did you really think the gum thing would work?

Harry has definitely had a few screws loosened since Uma has been gone.

Also also, I don’t really ship Devie but there little moment after the song was too cute. 

I kind of like Ben with a beard.

What I Liked

The music itself was pretty good and I think that it delivered the very basics of what I wanted which was for Mal to apologize. I also always enjoy when we get to learn more about and see more of the Isle and those who live there.

Other random things I liked:

Gil and Jay bromance and traveling the world on jungle adventures and hopefully seeing a penguin somehow.

Uma having her “I told you so moments”

All of the outfits except for Mal’s engagement dress.

Mal turning into an old lady for a few minutes.

Gil and his love for grapes.

The idea of siren! Uma after the knight fight.

I seriously like Mitchell with a beard

What I Wish Was Different/Wish There Was More Of

More Beast Ben. 

If they’re going to push Doug/Evie then I really wish Doug had more lines and that their relationship was actually explored. Like I don’t hate Doug but like, I’m indifferent towards him. 

I wish China had her own song that actually used in the movie. I also wish we had more Thomas singing. 

More obvious Huma. Like, yeah there are several things that you could point to as “Huma” but honestly I feel like you had to really look hard at them. Like, it overall met my expectations but they were low to begin with. 

More character development for everyone who isn’t Mal.

I wish there was more Hades and Dr. Facilier. I feel like they built them up so much, especially Hades, and then they were underutilized. 

More Uma of course. 

Though I know it wouldn’t happen because it’s a DCOM movie, I wish they had leaned more into villain!Audrey. Like they could have definitely done more with her.

So yeah... Those are my thoughts! Overall, I enjoyed the movie and I look forward to seeing what the fandom, especially the Huma part, has in store for fanfiction.

The Princess and the Pirate - Chapter 3

A/N: Wow okay this is super fun to write... Let the pining begin muahahaha. Enjoy to the two people reading this!

“The.. blue bird ch.. chirped at the small black… dog,” Harry read aloud.

“Excellent! Want to write that one, or should I give you a different one?” I told him.

“I’ll write it,” Harry said with a small and shy smile. In a matter of seconds, he had written out the sentence. I smiled.

“Very good. Your penmanship is really improving quickly!” I complimented.

Harry blushed. “I’s all cause of ye, princess.”

I wrote down a classic sentence for him to read.

“The… quick brown fox.. jump.. jumped over the la..zy dogs. Yeah?” Harry read and looked to me for approval.

“You got it! That sentence has every letter in it. Think you can write it?” I asked him.

He nodded sheepishly and I nodded in encouragement.

After a minute, he showed me the sentence and it was written perfectly.

“Excellent, Harry. Absolutely superb. Want to call it quits for today? We have a ball to attend tomorrow,” I mentioned to him.

He chuckled, “Yeah, miss maid of honor.”

I rolled my eyes and smiled in amusement. “She’s like a sister to me, I’d do anything to make her happy.”

Harry nodded and packed up his books, then walked with me out of the library. “Yeah, you and Jay make a good couple.” I noticed his blank expression.

“We’re not a couple… He just asked me to the ball is it. I didn’t think anyone else would ask me,” I admitted and shrugged.

“Ye honestly couldn’t think of anyone who’d want to go to the dance with ye? Have a lady like ye on his arm for the night?” Harry asked sounding dumbfounded.

“In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m not exactly the most attractive or sociable,” I chuckled.

Harry shook his head. “Oh darlin…”

“Well, you and Melody make a great couple,” I commented.

Harry cast his head down and smiled slightly.

“Thought I didn’t know did you? Why are you keeping secrets from me, hmm?” I teased.

“I knew ye knew. She asked me, anyway. I was gonna go stag,” he admitted.

“Oh, so you’re leading her on,” I nodded.

“No’ exactly. She knows we’re only going as friends,” Harry said. “She knows my heart belongs to the one and only Rayla Porter!”

I laughed at his dramatic teasing and headed up towards Kita house. “Oh sure, Romeo. See you later.”

Harry watched her walk into Kita house and reflected about what he had said about his heart belonging to her. He felt a slight pain in his chest when he entered Shang house and saw Jay. He and Jay were friends and there was no bad blood between them, but Harry knew that Rayla would be on his arm tomorrow night when Harry desperately wanted her to be on his.

“Harry, what do you think, man?” Jay asked him while gesturing to the navy-blue suit he had on. “It’s for the ball! Evie told me Ray’s dress is this color, so we’ll match.”

‘Fantastic. As if he needed to flaunt it,’ Harry thought.

“It looks great, mate. You’ll knock her off her feet,” he said. He wasn’t exactly lying, either… Jay did look very handsome in the suit. Harry could only imagine what Rayla would look like tomorrow.

“You and Melody matching?” Carlos asked.

“Em.. Not sure. My suit’s just basic black’n’white, so maybe,” Harry shrugged. After a few minutes, they decided to head to their separate dorms.

“You know, if you want to be with her, you should just go for it,” Ben said to Harry in his doorway.

Harry’s brow quirked. “She already asked me, though…”

Ben smirked. “I’m not talking about Melody, bro.” And with that, he left.

Harry sighed and decided to shower. As he felt the warm water hit him, he couldn’t help but think back to the time when his lips were against Rayla’s skin. Lately, Rayla was all he could think about. Harry found himself daydreaming and drifting towards her when the group was together. The night of Ben’s proposal, Harry’s eyes never left Rayla’s face. Her pale skin was illuminated by the lights they had strung up hours before and Harry nearly felt his heart leap out of his chest and run to her as if it had a mind of its own. When he turned the water off and dried himself, he was utterly engrossed in the thought of Rayla. He couldn’t get her off his mind, and he didn’t want to. Even his dreams that night were haunted with images of what he wanted from Rayla—a glance, a look, a squeeze…a kiss.

“Would you zip me up, please?” Evie said from across the room. I walked over and zipped her into her gorgeous red and royal blue dress.

“All done!” I smiled and slipped on my black flats.

“How do I look?” she asked and turned to face me.

I looked at her and smiled. “Like a queen.”

She smiled and gave me a squeeze, then looked out the window and turned to me. “The carriage is here!”

We walked down the stairs and outside to see Jay and Ben waiting for us. I was surprised to see Jay had cleaned up nicely and braided his hair back. His suit was also the same color as my dress and I immediately knew Evie was behind it.

“My lady,” Ben bowed to Evie and helped her into the carriage and then followed her in.

I went to step onto the carriage when Jay offered his hand and helped me up with a hand on my waist, then followed me in.

“Thanks. You look very handsome,” I told him.

Jay smiled and blushed, then took my hand in his and gently kissed my knuckles. “You look beautiful.”

We arrived at the ceremony building across the campus and Jay helped me out of the carriage and offered his arm to me to escort me into the ballroom. I waved to Evie and allowed Jay to lead me up a flight of stairs and then wait to be announced by Lumiere.

“The Knight and Maid of honor, Jay and Rayla,” Lumiere announced into the ballroom which had fallen silent after a horn announced our arrival. Jay and I stepped forward and saw that we were above the rest of the school, who were on the main floor. We walked down the stairs and I looked out into the crowd and saw my parents in the back. I caught a glimpse of Harry and his date Melody. Harry’s eyes contacted mine and I smiled at him. He waved at me slightly and returned my smile.

Once Jay and I reached the bottom, Ben and Evie were announced and descended the stairs. They made their way to the dance floor and began the waltz. After a few steps, Jay and I joined them, then the rest of the attendees. Throughout the night there were many songs that pairs could dance to, and more often than not, Jay would be found dancing with Celia Facillier, which I found sweet. Jay and I had come as friends, so I wasn’t bothered by sitting out a few dances. I looked over and saw Harry and Melody in each other’s arms and a small wave of jealousy washed over me and I wondered what it would be like to dance with Harry. He was incredibly sweet and suave, so it would probably be like dancing with a pro. At least, that’s how it looked from here. He and Melody looked to be having a good time, so when he looked up and our eyes met once again, I smiled and gave him an encouraging thumbs up.

“Dear, why are you just by the punch bowl?” I heard my father ask from behind me.

“Well, you know me and dancing.. doesn’t exactly go well,” I told him.

He nodded. “You like it here though, I see. That’s good enough for right now. Your mother and I do worry, though.”

“I can’t imagine why you would. I’m doing perfectly in my academics,” I said.

“Well, your mother and I received a letter from the neighboring kingdom, Arendelle, and we’ve been requested to visit them in a couple of months. I’m not sure what for,” he explained.

“Oh, well that should be fun for you two. I can’t remember the last time mum took a break,” I said. Father kissed my head as the song changed to another waltz and Jay walked over to me and bowed.

“May I have this dance?” he asked officially partly to me and partly to my father. He gestured for me to go ahead and I took Jay’s hand and entered the dance floor with him for the second time this evening.

“Where did you learn the waltz?” I asked once we were in the swing of it.

“Ben taught me yesterday. Are you impressed?” Jay smirked.

“I’m more impressed that you know how to braid your hair,” I joked.

Jay laughed and spun me. “You really do look beautiful tonight.”

I blushed. “Thank you, Jay. You do too. Well, handsome, that is.”

Jay laughed. “You know, in truth, I didn’t think you would say yes to me.”

“Why would you think that?” I asked him.

He shrugged. “You and Harry seem to be close.”

“Well, I mean.. We are, but.. We’re just good friends. He flirts with everyone, you know,” I responded.

Jay nodded. “Yeah, but he’s broken plenty of hearts that way. I’d hate to see you hurt.”

“But haven’t you broken just as many? I see the way girls look at you. Especially that Celia Facillier…” I smiled.

Jay blushed. “You’re more observant than you let on, Porter… She’s something else.”

“So why didn’t you ask her?” I asked.

Jay shrugged. “Can’t I fancy two girls, as you English say?”

I laughed. “No, you can’t, Jay. And I think you only fancy one.”

Jay sighed. “You’re right… No hard feelings?”

“Jay, we’re friends. I like it that way.”

He smiled. When the song ended, we split apart and Jay went off to find Celia, no doubt. I wandered off the dance floor and onto a balcony. The night was warm, and the sky was full of stars and a huge moon. I became so lost in thought that I barely noticed a figure fly across the moon, then grow closer and closer. When the figure turned into a definitive human shape, I backed up and then, stood on the ledge before me, was a boy with red hair and dressed in green. With him, he had what appeared to be a golden firefly that then got in my face and revealed itself to be a pixie. I recognized this pair immediately.

“You’re Peter Pan… and Tinkerbell,” I gasped out.

“Yup! Sure am. So what’s going on here, girl?” Peter asked.

“It’s Rayla.. And King Ben has gotten engaged,” I explained to him.

“Hmm, all grown up. Is Harry in there?” he asked eagerly.

“I believe so, yes..” I told him. As if on cue, Harry appeared in the window and smiled wider than I had ever seen and rushed out to the balcony.

“Peter!” he greeted.

“Hey, Lost Boy Hook! I heard a hullaballoo was going on so I came to check on you, but it looks like you’re all good here,” Peter said.

“Thanks, Peter. What hullaballoo did you hear about?” Harry asked.

“The mermaids told me that there was a ship being built at skull rock, and Pirate’s cove is starting to look alive again… They won’t get too far with that old codfish gone, will they, though?” Peter laughed and lifted himself into the air.

Harry smiled. “Yeah, guess not.”

Peter pulled out a jar of golden and glowing sand-like material. “Hey, if you ever want to visit, just think happy thoughts!”

Harry took the jar of Pixie dust and smiled, then put it away in a pocket, flashing the shiny silver hook he always had on him.

“Well, I’ll see ya, pal!” Peter said and took off. “Bye, Rayla!”

When they were gone, Harry looked over at me.

“Sorry… I’ve been preoccupied tonight to come say hi,” Harry explained.

I shook my head. “It’s alright, we both have.”

Harry stepped closer to me. “You look incredible tonight…”

My stomach filled with butterflies and I blushed. I had been told that tonight already, but coming from Harry, the words made my heart to flips.

“Thank you. You look rather dashing yourself. Harry… may I ask you a personal question?” I said before I forgot to ask because I was so engulfed in the fact that Harry had said I looked good.

Harry nodded and his eyes never left mine.

I sighed. “Why do you carry that hook around?”

He looked taken aback for a moment and then sighed. “Well… It’s all I have left, I suppose. Of my family, that is. My mother gave him this hook, in a way… She had a lot of silver jewelry that she collected. When she died, my dad di’n’t want to part with it, so he melted it down and made it into a hook for himself. He used it for cruelty an’… an’ evil. Can’t tell ye how many times I got bonked on the head. When we all got put on the Isle, my dad managed to escape, but then… well, the croc got ‘im, but Peter managed to save the hook for me.”

My heart broke for him as he told me. I reached over and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. He turned his head slightly for a moment, then squeezed my hand with his opposite hand.

“I’m so sorry, Harry. That must be so painful to remember… Is there anything I can do?” I offered. Harry kept my hand in his and turned to face me with a look in his eyes that read as hope and sadness.

“Not about that, no… but I—”

“There you are, Harry! Come on, let’s dance!” Melody said from beside us and pulled Harry away from me. I felt myself not letting go until I was forced to by Melody’s tug on Harry’s hand. His gaze was torn from mine when he turned to her and I was reminded of the cold reality in which I lived: Harry was no more than just a friend. The place where our hands had touched felt like a third degree burn and my eyes welled up in tears. Harry had just disclosed a part of his past that he keeps with him to me, and with that disclosure my respect and admiration for him only grew… as did my feelings for him.
