I am a big fan of @celestialscribbler's Pip in Time AU comic, and I find this Pilot Pro-Wittebane/Hunter aka Williams to be hilarious with that quote. So as a tribute to that webcomic, I made the short comic skit.

I had to do that someday, and I felt that Pip from Pip in Time is the perfect incarnation to do that. Yeah, the thing he's holding is a torch. I intended the torch to be lit, but then I thought it would be funnier if he just forgot to lit it. Never think this thru, does he?

I'm not doing the Wittober art event due to be preoccupied with other stuff, but I'll tag it there as a little treat to fans of the Wittebane brothers in The Owl House.

Some advice from AU Calebs!

Heck yeah I did it! Finally i finished ONE of the HUNDREDS AU crossover ideas I have in my head!! Crossovers are fun guys!! (I apologise for a bad english in advance. Writing this it a rush.)

I couldn't make a crossover meme without the legend. Sorry, not sorry. He is such a sad lad but tries to stay positive and be happy for his family uydfykudsutsudskudsluds (*dies*). I have to admitt, Caleb's dad energy is too strong for me to handle without wanting a hug him. No wonder! He was THE grandpa for centuries straight without a break. At least Caleb gets his whole family together in the end. Comics with him and either Hunter and Philip or Luz and Eda make me run in cirles around the room aaaa.

Damn, you definetly created one of the darkest AU in the fandom. Each time I re-read AU related posts I scream my lungs out because it is so angsty and so great. I am genuinely scared of your Belos ngl, because.. this man didnt loose anything and he still proceeds to do all that stuff. Enconter with him has 0 survival rate.

POOR CALEB! At least in the world of memes he had an opportunity to flee the captivity twice (the bald head and the car). This man had no moment of mental rest for centuries oh my God. One of my friends wants to fight his brother personally to protec Caleb at all cost sksksk. Well, at least Hunter will always have an actually loving relative! And if the happy ending is going to be canon, I think the future looks great, especially knowing how much pain all your characters go through currently. (And I think both Caleb and Hunter would need the "you are not a burdain" affirmations. At least some form of support in their situation.)

You said in the latest ask-answer that BK!Caleb was supposed to have white streaks in his hair so I attempted to add them. Hope they look fine! Colors for the outfit I got from Belos, so they would match, I guess???

My bro, brother, friend... Despite you being not to involved on the discord server, my brain is still rotting with your great awesome AUs. And I know you know that. Your Caleb is really loose in all sences of that word and I love that. Wonder if your AUs will ever be available to the public. Because oh boy oh boy they deserve to be recognised. (Loose Caleb is such a conservative grandpa who never did anything wrong, wdym?)

Honestly? Man, your comic is the reason I got invested in Witteclaw couple at all. Even if the "Pip in time" is not their story, but you wrote their teen romance so sweetly. Those two melted my heart... I scream each time I re-read your comic for 100th time. Just WOAH my brain goes brrr! And Caleb as a character is also written really really well. I love him so much. He is such good brother but MAN HE NEEDS A BREAK FROM BEING AN ADULT! BOY! Insirt crying and heart emojis here.

My thoughts:

I have been drawing this for more than a month I think? And the only reason for that is my university. I hope to actually get an ADHD diagnosis because something is clearly wrong with me. But thats not the point.

There are so many ideas in my head. Goofy and not. The only problem is that I have less and less ability to do what I want lately. I wish I could bring them all to life, but at the same I dont know if anyone will be interested. Would AU crossovers look too self-indulgent? Or nah? Idk. (Just Grimwalker-Isle already has so much potential for stupid ridiculous fun I am runnin on coffee juice.)

Litteraly my mind is plagued with different fun plots and possibilities I am going crazy. But I also have A TON of WIPs that I need to finish. Perhaps I will attempt to manage everything at once, but, no promises.

Wish me luck on my exams!

An AU where a young Philip Wittebane ends up in the 21st Century Boiling Isles and learn to see the good in witches and demons while living in the Owl House.

Of course, meeting Hunter would be complicated due to recognizing his voice and seeing his face.

And finding out Belos being his future self in Hollow Mind... Well, that would be traumatizing, especially after finding out what he did to Caleb. He would be devastated for what he'll become, but eventually he would come to reject that future, deciding to make his own.

In the events of King's Tide, he would have the chance and courage to say those words to his face.

I got the idea after watching Lightyear. Specifically, the part with Buzz and Zurg.

Looking at the villains like Kylo Ren and Billy Hargrove, they have common point of a dark and troubled past, ranging from abusive parents or some traumatic event changed their personality. And it has no boundaries for fandom sympathies as long as a sympathetic backstory of some kind is given.

Killmonger is one example despite the fact the Black Panther films beat you over the head that he's an evil warmonger and is not supposed to be right on anything except for the reality that Wakanda should do more for the world. Likewise, Ganondorf of Wind Waker gets all the sympathy brownie points because of his one little speech about how the winds of Gerudo Desert are awful and Hyrule is much better. Nevermind that he's still selfish and didn't actually said he wants to help his people.

All it requires for people to sympathize with the villain is hearing a somewhat sad backstory that made them who they are. I notice that villains who don't have that sad backstory are freely treated as loathsome villains with little to no stans supporting them as "misunderstood."

Emperor Palpatine is regarded as being more evil than the Devil. Jack Horner is proud, irredeemable monster who actively subverts any tragic backstory. Frollo's backstory was removed in the Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, leaving behind a religious bigot with a nightmarish lust. And Fire Lord Ozai is only hinted at having an abused childhood, but the show doesn't actually confirms it, ensuring that Ozai is just a horrible father with no depth behind it.

The less you know about a villain's backstory or motive, the more vile and inhumane they appear.

And naturally, Belos does get sympathy points because while his backstory isn't really at the forefront, the background portraits more than enough makes up for that. And because it requires a lot of digging into the background, it's natural to get emotionally invested in that story and the characters within it.

Alas, tragic villains are so difficult to present because it's always a fine line between fans who want total redemption and fans who want a pure evil villain with no redeeming qualities. I like a villain with nuances and complexity, but damned themselves to a tragedy's end because of their personality and character. No redemption, only realization too late.

As for the idea of Belos' redemption, I have only heard one that seems to have a lot of traction. Was Not a Hero by @chiconisroc, I recall correctly. I'll be curious to check that out since the fan art for that fanfic shows a more monstrous Belos form (and partially human).

Personally, I like the idea of splitting timelines in the past and seeing a younger Philip Wittebane realizing the error of his ways... and an older Belos becoming enraged and murderous that his younger self could change fate (which is the ultimate rebuttal to everything Belos believes in). Which is why I follow the webcomic Pip in Time by @celestialscribbler.

You know a Belos redemption fic is going to suck and completely miss the point when one of the first things the writer does is restore his human appearance. Like. Season 3 made it pretty clear that the curse form was a permanent thing Belos had to deal with, and he only briefly recreates his human look as a facade when he’s begging for his life.

But more importantly, we have so many protagonists who have to deal with the scars and disabilities that Belos’ system (and often Belos himself) inflicted upon them; Luz, King, Eda, Hunter, Raine, etc. But Belos gets off scot-free for a curse he brought directly upon himself, the result of the cruelty he inflicted towards those palismen? Their own suffering, now reflected on Belos in a way he can’t hide from himself or others? He left his mark on Luz, it’s only fair that Luz’s mark on Belos (which she did by branding him!!!) remain.

And it’s not even necessary to restore his human form; The only real drawback to Belos’ curse form was him dying, but obviously if someone has a redemption fic, then they’ve addressed that issue. It isn’t a loss of bile magic like it was for Eda or Lilith, because Belos never had magical bile, and he ate those palismen for power.

Why does a redemption for Belos need him to regain his human form? Doesn’t it make more sense for someone who saw others as lesser for not being human, to learn to accept himself and others for this shared trait? To walk in people’s shoes, participate in the monstrousness as an actual member? Are there not consequences that Belos needs to learn to live with, as his victims did? Even an opportunity for angst as he grapples with this change? It’s also genuinely less interesting to change Belos back.

Honestly, it just kinda proves to me that people only woobify Belos as much as they do because of white favoritism’s apologism for bigots, like what happened to Billy Hargrove the racist from Stranger Things, or Kylo Ren from Star Wars. Because god forbid Belos no longer be a white dude, that would just take away from the appeal that incentivizes his stans to coddle him! People can’t comprehend that Belos isn’t the main character (He serves Luz and others’ arcs, not the other way around) and that this entitlement was in fact his foundational flaw. It’s a double standard for an abuser’s pain with no regard for Belos’ victims, unless they can prop up his uwufication.

I came up with this meme during the AU disscussion on one of the TOH (Belos) discord servers.

Both stories include kid Philip Wittebane running after their brother into the demon realm, accidently falling into the time pool and appearing in the future. But how different they end up being at the time they meet Luz! Like, that it insane.

I understand that, like "Blight" Pip just simply had more time to undo the religeous indoctrination with the new found family. But he also grew to dislike humans more. Especially after he understood that the life can be so much better than it was in Gravesfield.

At the same time the little precious Pip in Time still has a big journey to go through. Facing his child and adult delusions. To experience the conciquences of his mistakes. And I am glad to be able to read this truly astounding and fantastic comic about this Philip! One of the best! Makes me scream with every new update.

Ever since the "Pip in the multiverse" post (which was HILARIOUS) I love to think of the fan crossovers that could have happen. Because I really like the "WHO THE HECK ARE YOU AND WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE ME-?!" situations.

In case of this two, I think they would definetly get into a fight cuz their view of the world is almost the direct opposite. (On the server we joked that Pip Blight would say "Hail Satan" just to piss the canon Belos off.) But I dont know how violent it would get honestly, lol.
