Neither unicorn nor pegasus, Alicorns appear to have traits from both species, but are so much more beyond that.

The first alicorns are known as The Two Sisters, a pair of unicorns with magic so potent, they changed the face of the sky forever. After growing wings, the young alicorns were called princesses and treated like royalty, thanked for their gift of the sun and moon. But as time went on, it became clear that these were not simply horses with extra features, but something else entirely.

When mature, alicorns are massive deities that stretch across the sky, ferrying the sun and moon to all corners of the world, leaving magic and dreams in their wake.

Being larger than the tallest mountains, goddesses generally don't interact with ponies on an individual basis. When they do, it is a terrifying honor; one that will alter the course of your life forever. Listen to the Sun speaking into your mind, and pray you are still the same pony when she is done.

AU idea that literally makes no sense but I still think would be adorable!

Ponyville Sisters AU

Au were Twilight is old af (older than Celestia and Luna in the main story) and is the one ruling over Equestria instead of Celestia and Luna.

So Twilight would be the first (as far as we know) and only alicorn until Cadance who I think would follow a similar path that she does in the main story, with the Crystal Empire and King Sombra and blah blah blah.

The only differences with Cadance would be 1. No Shining Armor because y’know Twilight lived thousands of years in the past so obviously in this au he would be dead lol.

2. No Flurry Heart bc obviously.

Moving on to Celestia and Luna

(Who this AU mostly revolves around)

Celestia and Luna were born at about the same time as the mane six in the original story.

The idea of this au is to see what it would be like if Celestia and Luna were just regular ponies, without the weight of Equestria on their backs.

While I feel like Twilight and Cadance would have the same cutie mark I just don’t think it makes sense for Celestia and Luna to have the sun and the moon as a cutie mark in this au when they wouldn’t even need a reason to worry about the sun and moon assuming Twilight is the one controlling them both. So their cutie marks are different.

They’re both unicorns because if they could raise the sun and moon in the original then they were probably unicorns.

Overall same personality but they’re just more out there than in the og.

I think it would be interesting to see their interactions with the mane 6.
