15. WIPs taking into next year

At this point, despite @liminalmemories21's and my best efforts, it's very possible that the 23andme will bleed into next year (but cross your fingers because we are actively working on it). 100% the mummy au will be a next year thing.

18. The character that gave you the most trouble

Chim's funny and it's hard to write that without veering into comic relief too much. Hen, because she's just so competent. Buck's voice is tough -- like sometimes I feel we hit it pretty well, and then other times, I'm like, I'm not sure who this sounds like but not Buck.

Just to clarify:

The idea that Cecily Neville wanted or tried to spare George of Clarence’s life is false. There is no reliable historical evidence to support this, and any historian or novelist who claims otherwise is either lying, ignorant, or a proponent of popular – rather than academic – history. Cecily was not a part of the center of politics like the Woodvilles or Richard of Gloucester were, but the evidence we have indicates that she actually sided with Edward IV and (functionally, at least) accepted his decision.

There is also nothing to support AJ Pollard’s equally false claim that Cecily and Edward were “estranged” or that she had “disowned” him after George of Clarence's execution. We know for a fact that she stood as godmother to his youngest child (born in 1480) and he was literally the only son she mentioned in her will. All evidence suggests they remained close, with contemporaries explicitly highlighting their affection for each other.

Oh, I really don't know? Tommy slid in and took over my brain, and he's been pretty hard to root out so far. Not a lover, but if Eddie does actually leave, I'd probably be interested in exploring how Buck holds onto a long-distance friendship with someone he's come to depend on so much. In non-911 worlds, the thrupple of hilariousness on the not-Love Boat could be fun. Also, it's been twenty years since I wrote, well, anything -- so there's a lot of fandoms I wouldn't mind reexamining in some way.

But let's be real, it was probably Baggage that goes with mine (and the whole What binds series) with @liminalmemories21. See above about Tommy -- I really liked digging into a potential backstory for him and then giving him his own world to exist in.

Honorary mentions to Atlas (Bound) (for giving me space to really be annoyed at the Buckley parents) and What's with Today, Today? (for just making me smile the entire time we wrote it).

29. Favorite line/passage

There's a line in I hear there are great restaurants out west (pt 4 of What Binds) that just... worked and helped me think about Buck's travels as a kid in a different way than I had before. Lim wrote the first sentence about the pharmacy and I remember thinking, there's pieces of him all over the country:

On their way out of town Evan drives them past a generic strip mall, pulls into the parking lot and points at the pharmacy at one end.  “I helped build that.” Tommy realizes there are little pieces of Evan scattered across the country, like the world's hardest scavenger hunt, and if they stay together long enough, maybe he'll get to find more of them.

Honorary mention to this line in Awful Quiet, because it did two things: told us a lot of about tommy and their relationship, and two, we desperately needed a transition to going back in time and crashing that helicopter and this really worked to get into the headspace.

Tommy eyes him like he'd like to say something else and stops himself. Tommy had stopped himself from saying a lot, at the end, Buck knows this. 

30. Biggest surprise

Actually putting something out in the world? If you had told me in January that over the course of eight months, Lim and I would write 16 stories and 170,547 words, I would never have believed you. That's a book, y'all. I know, because I helped publish a real one this year and holy shit. Lim and I have been writing together since... 200[garbled] something --a long time -- and never managed to get something we liked enough to put out there.

But also the fandom itself? I know I created an insular little corner of it, but having the support of folks who didn't know me but opened their arms wide anyway when I emerged from the shadows, has been amazing. It's really hard to put myself back out there again and everyone's just been really lovely. Lim found us a good home to land in.

Oh, and story wise? Sex scenes, I think? Like, I love Star Baker and Inside, You've got Heaven and Earth, but could not have imagined writing them, even when wrote our first ones in April/May. I like to think they work but it's been interesting and unexpected, either way.

As the canopy of Natasha’s jet opens, Cecily runs across the runway so fast she almost feels like she’s flying. Her feet carry her through the noise, the harsh wind splashing sea water in her face, and the shouts of her own backseater and superiors to come back. But she can’t. Natasha is right there and she can’t stop running towards her. Wouldn’t even if she could. Natasha barely gets off the ladder before Cecily jumps into her arms. The thud of her helmet hitting the ground, followed by Natasha’s arms around her trembling body and soothing words whispered in her ear, feels like being able to breathe for the first time in weeks.  Cecily draws back and looks at Natasha. Her hair is disheveled and there’s a sheen of sweat on her brow, but she’s smiling, and it’s all too much for Cecily to handle. Placing her hands on either side of her face, Cecily pulls her close and kisses her. She feels rather than hears Natasha’s gasp, but she kisses her back. Her lips are soft and plump, and Cecily runs her tongue along her bottom lips, teasing her mouth open, and when she does, her entire world explodes in fireworks. Natasha’s kiss is like coming home.

Now, I do eat people, yes, but it's more of an occasional hobby for me. I have nowhere near the experience or skill that Prin flaunts almost daily. I'm learning so much from her, though, and I believe she'd agree I'm a quick study!

Now.

Rep: My inner circle is aware of my recent dabbling, but I don't advertise beyond that. While I wouldn't be ashamed to have it become part of my image, and it would surely earn me more fans of a certain persuasion, I doubt I would be able to satisfy the expectations that would arise. While Prin would doubtless devour hordes of adoring fans, I'm only proficient enough to manage a single occupant at a time. Prin has teased me about wasting my potential. I must admit to becoming rather flustered when she tells me in detail what she could accomplish with four stomachs!

Strut: Now, you might think that what I've said above means I don't prioritize my stomach in my choice of clothing, and historically I haven't. But recently, Prin has made me aware of just how sexy a stomach can be, and so I've made a habit of showing it more, if only as a treat for her. Of course, that's a far cry from publicly displaying a bellyful of, ah, girlmeat? As Prin would say. No, that's a fashion choice I reserve for the bedroom. There really is nothing like adding a third to spice things up~

Alina: Sorry in advance if this gets cut short but if I don't get back to monitoring the extractor soon the experimental group could end up too burnt to be worth eating when the test is over. Then I'd only have the control, and they're so scrawny this time. Barely a snack.

Anyway, um.

Looming: That's the one about the size of people I like to eat, right? Small. Easy. Simple to contain, manipulate, overpower, and swallow. And specimens of the proper size are abundant thanks to my peculiar physiological quirk. By maintaining an unobstructed line of sight with another creature, I slowly diminish their size. The effect wears off but not for a few hours. That's more than enough time for my stomach to break them down into their useful components. I'm fully capable of stomaching a much larger meal, but I have neither the spare time nor energy to devote to processing them.

Gnash: I don't make a habit of chewing, either. While I'm not adversely affected by the sight or texture of a body so mutilated by mastication, I find it an inefficient means of acquiring nutrients. Why spend time splattering someone around my mouth when I could just gulp once? All those nutrients are so helpfully packaged neatly in their container, why make a mess of it? And deprive myself of the squirms? Also-

Siren: Fuck. Yes. I'm so glad this is one of the ones I got asked. This is like my whole thing. So like the way I see it, predators and prey have been in an evolutionary arms race forever. We need each other and we make each other better by constantly trying to outdo each other, right? Cool, you're with me so far. Well, using tools is like the latest, biggest, baddest incarnation of that, and I'm just using the tools I've got.

For those of you unaware, let me fix that. I'm a streamer. And a ton of sluts tune in to watch me lower my subscriber count for the world to see. I go live, someone goes dead. I run a little lottery on my channel. If you throw me some money, you get access to some fun bonus content, the real spicy stuff, and you're entered to win! Every week, one lucky morsel gets picked to pad out my ass. Now, legally, I can't make anyone sign anything that actually binds them to following through. But would you really say no and disappoint everyone? You know how they feel. Just last week you were them. i love this question hmm i (generally) like seeing them in period pieces because that’s how i met them and think modern au’s aren’t at appealing bc i already live here ya know lol

for example a few i have in the works of my own that may see the light of day someday when i get past writers block which are regency era au’s and a wwii era one

besides that i haven’t given it much thought so i’m interested to know when your fav au’s are
