omg i am a firm believer that 1.) jake was born to be a girl dad and 2.) nat notices her tiny bump one day before showering and she calls him into the bathroom and she’s standing there all giddy and is like “do you notice something different about me” and he immediately starts crying when he notices the little bump 🥹🥹
Day 20 of Ode to Phoenix
Did I want to write the Hannix Football Rivalry AU requests in order? Yes. Did that happen? Apparently not. This one just jumped out of me, and I was in too deep to write anything else for today
Jake as a girl dad has me 😍🥰🥹 He definitely was
Omg, I am giggling kicking my feet at this thought about her baby bump discovery 💗
Summary: Hannix Football Rivalry AU. Natasha has a Baby on Board, and it's not Bob
Pairing: Natasha "Phoenix" Trace x Jake "Hangman" Seresin
Warnings: Pregnancy symptoms, early pregnancy partner struggles, mention of oral sex but nothing explicit
A/N: To whoever requested, I hope you enjoy my love xx
Do You Notice Something Different?
Natasha stumbles into the bathroom and pushes her hair out of her face, grateful it’s finally Saturday. Despite listening to her family and friends talk about their pregnancies for several years, nothing prepared her for the level of exhaustion she’s felt these last few weeks. Jake has pretty much taken over everything in their life that isn’t her job. Including making an early morning run to the grocery store because she’s craving lemon, blueberry ricotta pancakes she once had at a restaurant in New York City.
She strips off her pajamas before emptying her bladder for the third time already this morning. While she pees, Natasha closes her eyes and drops her head into her hands. Outside of deployments, the last few weeks are the longest she and Jake have gone without having sex since they started hooking up. Whether she’s been too tired, too sick, or too sore, usually some combo thereof, he's taken it all in stride. He's even been understanding about her not wanting him to touch her, although she can tell that part has been the hardest on him. Until recently, she hadn't realized how important their physical connection is to him.
But it finally seems like she’s coming out the other side of the miserable first weeks with her appetite, for food and sex, starting to return. At least this morning she'd been able to think about giving Jake a blow job without triggering her gag reflex.
She flushes the toilet and leans forward over the sink to wash her hands. Tentatively, she ventures a look in the mirror. Her face is getting its color back, although the faint lines around her eyes and mouth have deepened. Her breasts, well, those are definitely different. They're fuller and heavier, stretching her bras to the brink of their adjustments. She'll have to buy new ones soon.
Her hands freeze as her gaze drifts down further. Is that a trick of the reflection? Hurriedly, Natasha straightens and looks down at her stomach. It's slight, but it's there. A little bump in her abdomen. She sucks in her stomach, but it keeps its shape.
She turns off the water and dries her hands, accidentally pulling the towel off the rack in her rush. She tosses it onto the counter and places her hands flat on her sides then slides them to meet in the middle of her stomach. They rise slightly before they stop over her belly button. Definitely a bump.
Hand over her mouth, Natasha looks in the mirror and turns to check her profile, to be sure. There it is. A small, round protrusion. The first sign of Jake's birthday baby.
"Jake!" she shouts. "Jake, come here!"
In her excitement, she doesn't realize that screaming for her husband while pregnant might send the wrong signal. "What is it!" There's a commotion in the kitchen and then the sound of Jake's footsteps pounding through the house. "Nat! Sweetheart, are you okay?" he yells. Oh shit, he's going to break his neck thinking she's hurt.
"Wait, I'm fine, but come here!" she calls back. It doesn't sound like he's slowed down. "I'm fine!"
He bursts into the bathroom with a look of panic on his face, hands still covered in flour from making her pancakes. But she's too excited to wait for him to calm down.
"Do you notice something different about me?" she asks giddily, holding her arms out at her sides.
For a long moment, Jake looks like he's still trying to process that he didn't find her in a heap on the floor. Then his eyes drift down her body, and she can't really blame him when they get stuck on her breasts. His face goes bright red, although there's an aroused gleam in his eye. He swallows but doesn't say anything.
She knows why he's silent and finds yet another reason to fall in love with him. Not that she'd dwelled on having a smaller chest much, because it's generally convenient as an aviator, but it was always something that made her self-conscious in bed. Since the night early in their relationship when she'd drunkenly apologized to him for it, Jake has always made sure she knows how much he adores her perfect little chest. Which isn't quite as little anymore.
She giggles and reassures him that he won't hurt her feelings for appreciating the change. "Okay, yes. You can enjoy those later." His face gets even redder. "Besides that, notice anything different?" She turns to the side as a hint.
He drags his gaze lower and the arousal blasts right out of his face. His jaw slackens, and his eyes are bright and already glistening when he looks back up at her. "Is that?" he checks but chokes up.
Natasha bites her lip, feeling tears prick at her own eyes in response to his. She cries at the sight of a dryer sheet on the floor these days so she's not going to be able to withstand him crying. She nods. He takes a step toward her then hesitates, and her heart clenches with guilt. The last time he'd touched her, trying to help while she threw up in a bag in their car, she'd pushed him away and yelled at him to leave her alone. After apologizing for lashing out, she'd miserably told him she needed space and watched as he hid his hurt while promising her he would do whatever she needed.
She reaches out and takes his hand to bring it to her stomach. His touch remains light and uncertain so she steps into it until his large palm lies flat across the bump of their baby. She closes her eyes, feeling the protective warmth and curve of his fingers, dry and slightly rough from the flour still on them. Relief washes over her when she realizes that she's missed his caresses, the tender way his thumb strokes across her skin, the firm pressure of his love expressed in a touch.
A warm drop hits her bare shoulder, and Natasha looks up to see Jake standing over her, tears running freely down the handsome planes of his face. A few get caught in the corners of his trembling smile. "Is that our baby, sweetheart?"
"Yeah," she says softly, her own vision blurry as she thumbs away the tears from his lips before standing on tiptoe to kiss him. "That's our baby, sweetheart."
As hungry as she is, Natasha doesn't want him to leave her yet. She leads him into the shower and settles her back into the curve of his solid chest. They stand under the water, his temple pressed to hers, arms circled around her and hands splayed over the little bulge of their baby.
"Jake?"
He squeezes her then starts to drop his hold, but she catches his arms. "No. I don't want you to let us go."
Jake kisses the curve of her ear. "I won't," he promises.

anna! so happy for you finishing up work, hope you can get some nice relaxing in!
i’d love to see what you can do with 🐈⬛ and bobby OR 👩🏻💻 and phoenix!!<3
Ahhh thank you so much, Ashley! And yes I’ve really had so much time to relax, writing and watching so many movies 💗
Storyteller // Writing with Natasha Headcanons
A picture is worth a thousand words, and Natasha never runs out of any
Pairing Natasha Trace x reader
Theme fluff
Word Count 493
Note Just realizing this is my first time writing for a female character! Also, forgive me if this sounds like it’s all over the place! I was writing these as I was getting ready for my Christmas eve dinner so I didn’t get to spend as much time writing and editing it 😭 but I hope you still enjoy it though!
Aside from the required communication on missions and training, Natasha is one of the pilots that prefers to let her flying do the talking for her
But when she’s on the ground, boy, does she have a way with words
Natasha loves to write
It’s not something she really broadcasts to anyone, but she’s not ashamed of it either
She’s just the type of person who reserves her words for those she wants to share it with
As a child, she always loved reading
From the stories her mom would read to her before bedtime like Stellaluna and Dr. Seuss book
To the chapter books she’d borrow from the library like the Harry Potter and Goosebumps series
So when she got a good comment from her teacher on a story-writing assignment in school, she kept at it as a hobby
She could write anything under the sun, from poetry and short stories to academic papers and articles (she was on her school paper during her junior and senior years)
But she never saw it as a career since she liked the freedom of writing whatever, whenever, and wherever she liked
Once she entered the navy, she kept up her hobby through her private diary entries and the emails she would send to you
Of course, she emailed her family too, mostly telling them she was safe, and some stories she felt were appropriate to share with them
Like the nice cafes she and Bob ate at during their lunch break and how she promises to take them there when they visit
Or the high praise she received from her superiors about her performance from their latest mission
But the emails she sends you are much more colorful
She knows how much you love her storytelling, how she spares no detail and makes it feel like you were right there with her as it happened
Paragraphs on paragraphs of Hangman and Rooster’s latest argument
And Coyote’s Gordon Ramsay-level critique on his latest pastry find
And her girl’s night with Halo, Penny, and Amelia at the Benjamin household
She’ll save some of the more serious stories for when you guys get to call because she doesn’t like you rereading and dwelling on the negative stories (which are also the ones harder for her to write)
In exchange, you email her back everything that’s been happening at home, and these easily become the highlights of her day
When she gets back home, you spot her (sort of) casually greet her fellow aviators goodbye but on the drive back home with you, she’s bursting with energy, never running out of things to share
And before going to bed, you both swap journals—filled from cover to cover with reflections, poems, and real and imagined stories from your time apart—with the pages you want each other to read already doggy-eared
(It was something you learned how to do for her during your first time apart)
When you’re both done reading it, you tuck away the journals on your shared bookshelf that’s reserved for all the notebooks both of you collected and filled in through the years
It warms her heart knowing the two of you share enough stories for a lifetime, and that your life together is definitely one for the books

day 4 - all i want for christmas is you - natasha “phoenix” trace
a/n: i wrote this entire thing based off of a whim and a summary. phoenix i love you. i am horrendously behind on ficmas and my life is falling apart and i am so behind in school i’m not sure how i’m gonna finish the semester but we’re gonna get there one way or another
summary: What Natasha Trace wants, Natasha Trace gets. And for Christmas, all she wants is you.
inspired by mariah carey’s “all i want for Christmas” obviously
12 days of ficmas | main masterlist | top gun: maverick masterlist
warnings: flirting, swearing, alcohol, kissing, Fanboy and Phoenix are secret besties change my mind, i am kicking screaming crying i am yearning so hard, like one mention of Hangster, i wrote this in less than an hour and am posting it before i can lose my nerve so if there’s mistakes that’s why
word count: 1,280
Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas blasts through the Hard Deck, the drunken patrons of the bar singing (screaming) along to it.
With the holidays creeping ever so closer, Penny had taken to playing Christmas music, the decorations adorning the walls of the already full Hard Deck. One could spend hours looking at everything and still not see it all, which is little of Phoenix’s concern, her gaze preoccupied with you.
Bradley snorts into her beer next to her, catching her attention. She ruefully moves her gaze to that of her best friend, who has a shit-eating grin on his face.
She picks up her own beer, looking away from him. “What?”
He shakes his head, the same grin on his face. “Are you ever gonna give it up?”
She narrows her eyes. “Give what up Bradshaw?”
He doesn’t say anything, continuing to shake his head as Fanboy and Payback approach the bar.
“Still yearning Trace?” Payback asks, settling his forearms against the bar, leaning his body weight against the wood, as he takes the seat opposite her. Fanboy slides an arm across her shoulders, standing in between her and his pilot, as he nods in agreement.
“It’s getting a bit sad, Tash.” He agrees, causing Phoenix to shoot him a glare. He returns the look with a grin of his own while Rooster snickers.
“It’s not like I haven’t tried.”
And she had tried.
The younger sister of a flight officer stationed at Miramar, you often found yourself spending weeknights at the Hard Deck and around the pilots of the Dagger crew.
Phoenix had immediately been drawn to you. And she’d been trying everything she could think of to catch your attention and keep it, from flirting to cringy and cheesy pick-up lines to even the horrendous suggestion Coyote had made that she will not be repeating, but the most she could get was a blush and a small smile before you turned away.
You either weren’t interested or completely oblivious and at this point, she was slowly losing any hope she’d be able to catch your attention before another pilot, taking advantage of the romantic atmosphere the holidays brought, caught and kept it and got you all to themselves.
“You could try taking a page out of Bradshaw’s book, sing her a little songy-song.” Hangman comments and she draws her focus back to the blonde, unaware Coyote and Hangman had joined them.
“Just because that’s how he wooed you-” Fanboy starts, earning him a smack upside the head from the blonde as Coyote laughs, shaking his head.
“C’mon, that poor girl doesn’t need to be scared off any more than she probably already is.” She takes a rather large gulp of her drink, trying to ignore the boys gathered around her as she looks back towards you.
“Boys, boys, haven’t you learned by now that girls appreciate a little more than dick-measuring contest as flirting?” Halo argues, joining their group and Phoenix snorts, wordlessly reaching her hand out to the girl as she continues to watch you. Halo high-fives her as Payback groans.
“Regardless, this is getting a little creepy Trace.” She turns her head to shoot the man a glare, feeling her own cheeks warm.
It was getting a little creepy, wasn’t it?
“I say, you try one more time, genuinely tell her how you feel straight-up, and then you’ll have your answer once for all.” Bob’s voice says, joining the edges of their group. She sighs, setting her beer down on the counter as she turns her WSO’s words over in her mind.
“Oh but Bob, that’s not as fun for the rest of us!” Omaha whines, earning him a flick on the forehead from Halo. He shrugs, offering them a sheepish smile.
“Just my honest opinion.”
“Aw Bobby, when did you get so smart?” Hangman coos, reaching to ruffle the man’s hair. He shooes him off as Coyote snickers.
She nods once, watching your brother depart from your side to go to the bathroom, meaning the two of you are getting ready to head out for the night.
This is her one shot.
“I’ll be back.” She says, extracting herself from the group that’s amassed around her. She's pretty sure that they offer her different variations of good luck’s and go get her’s but she can’t be sure, ears ringing as she walks towards you.
Even in the noisy bar, the sound of her approaching you catches your attention as it always does, and you offer her a smile, just like you always do.
“Well Natasha Trace, to what do I owe the pleasure?” You ask, nodding to the abandoned seat next to you. She takes it, cringing as All I Want For Christmas begins to play again.
“Penny really likes the song, huh?” She jokes, feeling her nerves get the best of her as she continues to watch you. You let out a soft laugh and her chest warms at the sound.
“Apparently so.”
She smiles, leaning one of her arms against the bar as she looks to you. “I do have to admit that I came over here to talk about more than Mariah Carey.”
“Oh?” You ask, tilting your head. “And just what did you come over here to talk to me about?”
If history hadn’t proven otherwise, Phoenix could’ve sworn there was some sort of tension, some magnetic pull between the two of you, as your smile turns coy.
“I’m just going to be forward. I’m pretty used to getting what I want.” You raise an eyebrow but say nothing as she scoots her stool forward, knees touching yours. She leans ever so closer, taking her chances by sliding a hand up your knee and to your thigh. The material of your jeans is rough under her fingers and she squeezes it as she finishes her thought. “And all I want for Christmas is you.”
You snort, cheeks going cherry-red as you look away from her, hair falling over your shoulder. You look back to her, biting your lip as your eyes twinkle in the warm glow of the bar. “I thought you didn’t come over here to talk about Mariah Carey.”
“I didn’t.” She says, moving her other hand to your chin, keeping your face within in her hands. “I’m being serious sweetheart. I want you.” She leans in closer, voice dropping. “And sweetheart, I’ve been trying to catch your attention for months. And now that I finally have got it, I’m not letting it go.”
If it’s possible for anybody to blush any brighter, you’re doing it, unable to duck your head as you usually do, Phoenix still holding your face.
She worries for a brief moment she’s come on too strong and is already figuring out how to walk away from this one with some of her pride still intact when you surge forwards, grabbing the edges of her jacket and connecting yourself to her.
She startles, quick to move her hands to your waist to steady you as she leans into the kiss, your chapped lips warm against hers.
There’s cheering from the other side of the bar, giving you pause, as she begins to plan each and every one of her friend’s murders for interrupting something she’d been sought after for months.
And then you let out a small laugh, pulling just inches away. “I don’t know if I made it obvious, but just so we’re crystal clear, I want you too.”
She nods, hands slipping just underneath your shirt as your arms warp around her shoulders, hands tangling in her hair. “Good, because now all I want for Christmas is to do that again.”

Quiet Affections
Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin x Pilot!reader
Summary: After her friends tease her about Jake having a crush on her, Y/N reflects on certain memories that make her question whether there might be some truth to their playful jabs.
Warnings: Teasing, pining, Jake being a sweetheart, Y/N being oblivious, insults aimed at Y/N, protective Jake, mention and description of injury, anxiety, doubts, fluff.
Notes: Happy Friday, everyone! We made it! 🎉 I just hit 2,500 likes on here and wanted to thank each and every one of you who liked, reblogged, or commented on my works. It means the world to me. I’m down bad for Jake, and need him badly so I wrote this. Enjoy byeeee
You find yourself deep in the heart of the Hard Deck, the familiar hum of chatter and clinking glasses forming a comforting backdrop. Rooster, Natasha, Javy, Bob, Reuben, and Mickey are clustered around the pool table, laughter spilling freely as they take turns making shots and throwing jabs. Jake had just excused himself to go to the restroom, but not before brushing a lingering hand against your shoulder and whispering something that made you smile. This action set off a chain reaction of teasing directed at you.
"Y/N, you know Hangman’s got a huge crush on you, right?" Rooster's mustache twitches with a sly smile as he lines up for his shot.
You laugh it off, waving a hand dismissively. "Oh please, Bradley. Jake? No way. He's just... nice."
Rooster and Natasha exchange glances before Natasha cocks an eyebrow at you. "Nice? Hangman is many things, but nice isn't the first word I'd use. Unless he’s talking to you," she remarks, tapping her cue stick against her palm.
Bob, always the quiet observer, chimes in. "He's got a point though, Y/N. I've seen how he looks at you."
You can't help but roll your eyes. "I'm just completely unaware of it," you say, sarcasm dripping from your voice. "You guys are ridiculous."
Mickey grins, his boyish charm lighting up his face. "Maybe, but can you really deny the way he's always got your back?" he asks, leaning casually against the pool table.
Your first instinct is to rebut, but as their words settle in, you start to think about some of the things Jake had done for you. Not just the grand gestures like saving your hide in aerial combat, but the small, everyday things. The way he'd always save you a seat, bring you coffee exactly how you like it, offer subtle words of encouragement when you doubted yourself.
Javy steps forward, his competitive spirit twinkling in his eyes. "You're telling me you haven't noticed how he always goes out of his way to make sure you're okay?"
Reuben, good-natured but always vigilant, nods in agreement. "Hangman's not exactly an altruistic guy, Y/N. But for you? He'd go to lengths he wouldn't for anyone else."
You crack a wry smile, determined to stay firm in your denial. "He's just protective. We're teammates."
Natasha had already joined in, her voice warm yet teasing. “Don’t sell yourself short, Y/N. It’s not just about being teammates. He genuinely cares.”
In the ensuing silence, you can't help but ponder on their words. Jake "Hangman" Seresin is charismatic and assertive, traits forged from his exceptional flying skills and competitive nature. But beneath that cocky exterior, there lies a heart incredibly loving and caring, willing to sacrifice anything for his loved ones. Slowly, you find yourself drifting into a vivid memory, reliving the countless cherished moments and experiences you've shared with Jake.
You recall that evening at the Hard Deck vividly. The bar was buzzing with the usual chatter and laughter, the hum of camaraderie filling the air. You were amidst your friends, enjoying the rare downtime when an unfamiliar voice cut through the noise—this stranger making an offhand but cruel remark about you. The comment was subtle, yet it stung deeply, rooting you in place with a mix of shock and mortification. Your cheeks burned under the weight of the ridicule, words lodged in your throat.
Before you could muster a response, you felt Jake's presence beside you, solid and reassuring. He stepped forward, placing himself between you and the offender. His usual easy going demeanor was replaced by a steely resolve, his eyes dark with anger. "Do us all a favor and think before you speak," he said, his voice steady but carrying an unmistakable edge.
The bar fell into an uneasy silence as Jake’s glare pinned the offender in place. "If you've got a problem with Y/N," he continued, his voice low and unwavering, "you’ll be dealing with me."
The tension hung in the air, thick and palpable. The offender, unable to match Jake's intensity, muttered an apology and slunk away, deflated. The moment passed, but the impact lingered. Jake remained there a moment longer, ensuring the threat had fully dissipated before turning back to you.
As he met your gaze, the hardness in his features softened, replaced by a gentle concern. He reached out, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "You okay?" he asked, his voice filled with a tenderness reserved just for you.
You felt an overwhelming wave of gratitude, the initial embarrassment giving way to a profound sense of relief. Jake had stood up for you without a second thought, his protective instinct leaving no room for compromise. In that moment, you knew you were safe, not just physically but emotionally, knowing Jake had your back. His touch and the concern in his eyes reassured you even more, providing a solace that words alone could not.

Then there was the night when you couldn’t sleep, tormented by insecurities that gnawed at the edges of your mind. It was long past midnight, and you found yourself seated on the deck of the aircraft carrier, trying to get some fresh air to clear your head before the mission. The vast expanse of the ocean and the cool night breeze did little to quiet the whirlwind of self-doubt swirling inside you.
The stars dotted the sky like tiny beacons, and the waves below gently lapped against the ship's hull, but none of it brought you peace. You wrapped your arms around yourself, tense and lost in thought, barely noticing the sound of footsteps approaching.
Jake emerged from the shadows, his silhouette becoming clearer in the soft glow of the ship's lights. He paused when he saw you, his brow furrowing with concern. He looked around, ensuring no one else was around, before walking over to you with determined but careful strides.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice breaking the solitude with an edge of worry.
You hesitated, feeling foolish for bothering him. "I…I just can't stop thinking about everything that's been going wrong. I don't know if I'm cut out for this, Jake."
Jake's eyes softened, and he lowered himself to sit beside you on the cold metal deck. "Tell me more," he said gently, coaxing you to open up. His voice was so steady, so soothing, that you found yourself pouring out all your fears and anxieties—the relentless pressure, the fear of failure, the nagging feeling that you weren't good enough. With each word, you felt a weight lifting from your chest.
Jake listened without interrupting, his usual cocky demeanor replaced by an unwavering focus on you. His eyes never left your face, and his expression remained kind and attentive. "You know what I see when I look at you?" he said quietly once you had finished. "I see someone who's brave, who fights every day to be better, who cares deeply about others. You're stronger than you think, Y/N. Don't let those doubts control you."
His words felt like a balm to your soul, soothing the raw edges of your insecurities. When he reached out to brush a stray tear from your cheek, the warmth of his touch and the sincerity in his eyes melted away your remaining doubts, leaving you wrapped in a cocoon of reassurance. Sitting there on the deck, under the endless sky, you felt profoundly grateful for Jake's unwavering support and the strength he helped you find within yourself.

You also remember the time when you injured your ankle during a training exercise. You had insisted on limping back to your quarters, trying to maintain your independence. But Jake wouldn't hear of it. He had scooped you up without a second thought, cradling you in his arms as if you weighed nothing. "I've got you," he murmured, his voice laced with an uncharacteristic gentleness. The entire trek back, he kept you engaged in light-hearted banter, ensuring your mind stayed off the pain.
. ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚. ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚. ݁ ˖ ࣪ .
And how could you forget the morning he had brought you coffee? Not just any coffee, but a complex, personalized concoction—an oat milk latte with a shot of caramel, a pinch of cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg, and no foam. You hadn’t even mentioned it to him before. "Thought you could use a pick-me-up," he had said nonchalantly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. But you knew the effort he had put into remembering such a detailed order, and it made your heart swell with an unfamiliar warmth.
These memories play in your mind like a cherished montage, each moment a testament to the man beneath the bravado. Jake "Hangman" Seresin wasn’t just the cocky pilot everyone else saw. He was a protector, a confidant, a friend who cared deeply for you, even if you had been too blind to see it before.
Returning back to the present moment amidst the lively ambiance of the Hard Deck, surrounded by the warmth of friends and laughter, you notice Jake returning from the restroom. As your eyes meet, his familiar smirk emerges, but this time there’s a tender softness in his gaze that you hadn’t noticed before—or perhaps, hadn't allowed yourself to see.
“Miss me?” he jokes, sliding back into the chaos of pool cues and friendly banter.
You chuckle, shaking off the speculative thoughts. “Like a bad habit, Seresin.”
But later, as the night winds down and the camaraderie ebbs into a quieter hum, you catch yourself glancing his way more often. The teasing remarks of your friends aren’t so easily dismissed anymore. And as Jake catches your gaze across the room, you start to wonder if maybe, just maybe, they might be onto something.
Because sometimes, the most significant realizations are the ones that had been right in front of you all along, masked by the comfort of friendship and the chaos of duty.
You smile to yourself, feeling an inexplicable warmth. Maybe it was time to see what was beyond the camaraderie, to delve into the possibilities of what if. The thought lingers, like an unopened letter, waiting for the right moment.
For now, you return to the laughter and games, but with a new awareness, a curiosity that couldn’t be easily shaken. One thing was for sure—things were going to get interesting.

I hope I’m not too late 🌹🌹💕💕
It's never too late, my love, and for you, I obviously have some Cecily and Natasha 💕
from the culmination (phoenix x fem!oc)
As the canopy of Natasha’s jet opens, Cecily runs across the runway so fast she almost feels like she’s flying. Her feet carry her through the noise, the harsh wind splashing sea water in her face, and the shouts of her own backseater and superiors to come back. But she can’t. Natasha is right there and she can’t stop running towards her. Wouldn’t even if she could. Natasha barely gets off the ladder before Cecily jumps into her arms. The thud of her helmet hitting the ground, followed by Natasha’s arms around her trembling body and soothing words whispered in her ear, feels like being able to breathe for the first time in weeks. Cecily draws back and looks at Natasha. Her hair is disheveled and there’s a sheen of sweat on her brow, but she’s smiling, and it’s all too much for Cecily to handle. Placing her hands on either side of her face, Cecily pulls her close and kisses her. She feels rather than hears Natasha’s gasp, but she kisses her back. Her lips are soft and plump, and Cecily runs her tongue along her bottom lips, teasing her mouth open, and when she does, her entire world explodes in fireworks. Natasha’s kiss is like coming home.

Remember the Hangman and Phoenix competing for fem!reader fic? Welp, back with more…
@sylviebell @melodiousoblivionao3
I Can Take You Home
“Another drink?” Hangman offers, gesturing to your empty glass. You’ve been tucked into a corner of your friend’s wedding laughing with him longer than you realized. He’s looking a little smug to have monopolized your attention so easily, but you can’t resist a pair of green eyes and a cocky grin.
“You know offering a girl another drink you’re not paying for doesn’t say much,” you tell him to take back some of the upper hand.
His eyes spark with the challenge. “So what does it take to impress you? You’ve already got half the room swarming you for a dance.”
You smirk, a little proud of that. If he only knew you’re not usually the center of attention the way you’ve been here. Arching an eyebrow, you get to your feet. “Isn’t that for you to figure out? Are we getting those drinks?”
It’s the right thing to say to a man you’ve already figured out would be competitive about who ties their shoe faster. Smoothing your gown on the way to the bar gives you an excuse to draw his attention to the way it hugs your ass perfectly.
People have told you there’s something intriguing about your gaze. They can feel you looking at them. But you’re well aware sticking to the basics can be just as effective.
As soon as you’re clear of the narrow pathways between the tables and chairs, he lays claim to your waist. You don’t mind. You’ve scoped the room, and you’re happy hooking this fish.
You’re looking up at him to call out his hand on your hip when you spot her. You can feel her eyes following every curve of your body down to the peak of your toes from the hem of your gown as you walk.
And you’re distracted from whatever Hangman is saying. Because she’s breathtaking in a gown that floats elegantly around her and tantalizingly exposes just enough of the perfect, delicate globes of her breasts to make you crave more.
Your eyes travel back to hers, and she gives you a sweet half smile of acknowledgment. She’s caught you looking and wants to know what you think. You bite your lip.
“Everything okay down there?” Hangman breaks through your daze.
You’re still trying to pull your brain together when you notice her set down her empty glass and start to glide your way. There’s something commanding in the way she walks. The world’s royals could learn a thing or two from the way her presence slows everything around her.
“Hangman,” she says, just loud enough to call his attention without drawing other people’s. Her voice plays its way all the way down your spine in a shiver.
“Phoenix,” he says, the undercurrent of friendly sarcasm in his voice as hot as her name. Phoenix. That’s exactly what she looks like, a mythical creature called from the flames.
You only half realize that you step forward so his hand falls from your waist. She turns her full attention on you, and you feel your heart thrumming to the siren call of her dark eyes. “Is this your plus one?” Phoenix asks, though the tuck of amusement in the corners of her expressive lips say she already knows the answer to that.
“We just met,” spills out of your mouth before you realize the question wasn’t meant for you. But it seems to be all the answer she needs. Something mischievous unfolds in the creases of her face.
Hangman doesn’t seem to notice. “She’s a friend of the groom’s. We were on our way to get another drink.”
“They taste so good, don’t they?” Phoenix says. Her faintly glossed lips must taste so good.
“So good,” you agree dumbly. You nearly jump when Hangman’s hand slides around your waist again, and this time you’re self-conscious about it.
Phoenix’s eyes flick down to the motion then back to your face. “Sorry, didn’t mean to hold you up,” she says to Hangman. Then to you, “I love that dress on you.”
She daintily lifts her gorgeously expansive burgundy skirt with a small wave and floats away. You have to remind yourself not to follow her over your shoulder. “You know her?” you ask to keep your attention on Hangman.
“One of the Navy’s best pilots,” he says, “but she doesn’t need to know I think that.” You let him guide you to the bar, but your mind is on whispering that little secret into her ear as your mouth traces the soft curve of her jaw.
While Hangman orders your drinks, you scan the crowd for her. She’s on the dance floor, swaying to the music with her dark gaze trained on you. Your move her smile says.
Hangman touches your arm and slides the stem of your wine glass into your fingers. “Ready to hit the dance floor?” Many guys are intimidated by the prospect, but to his credit, he sounds eager. With Phoenix watching your lips and him watching your neck, you take your first sip of wine.
“Let’s show ‘em how it’s done,” you agree and take another sip for Phoenix’s benefit.
He’s a good dancer. Not only does he have rhythm, he spins you without ever losing track of which hand is holding your wine. He dances close, filling your nose with the delicious scent of his cologne. You can’t get enough of it. Your hips move in sync to a banger you danced to in middle school.
A chuckle interrupts. “There’s no prize for best dancers. You don’t have to show off so hard.” It’s Phoenix.
“Can’t help what comes naturally,” he smirks, but he reaches out to take your hip and draws you closer.
“You wouldn’t look half so good without me,” you counter with a laugh and turn in his loose hold so you’re facing Phoenix. “Are you coming over to show off too?”
Phoenix’s eyes dart above your head, and Hangman presses his chest to your back. His hand slides lower and tighter over your pelvis. It’s only then that you also realize he’s just an option and your other one might be standing right in front of you, an invitation in the lift of her lips.
A light of triumph flashes through her gaze, and she lifts her arms in the air and yeah, you immediately imagine her stretched out beneath you but without the narrow bands of fabric covering her chest. And that leads to your fingers flexing with the anticipation of loosening the tape holding the cloth in place and sliding her dress off her shoulder, watching it fall around her waist as her arms come out to circle your shoulders. The softness of your chests pressing together as your lips finally meet, her tongue as teasing as the lilt of her voice.
You turn to Hangman and hold up your drink. “Can you hold this for me? I have to go to the bathroom real quick.” Watching Phoenix, he takes your glass and presses a stomach-dropping kiss on the place where your ear meets your jaw.
“Don’t get lost,” he warns.
“I’ll try not to if you try not to forget about me while I’m gone.”
Reluctantly, he releases you. Phoenix raises an eyebrow.
“Bathroom,” you tell her.
“I’ll help you with your dress.”
You barely manage to keep your pace even as you feel her follow you out.

Summary: Reader hates Hangman cause he's an asshole. Hangman can't stop teasing you about it. When he sees you flirt with another he jumps in, acting all jealous and possesive. Dragging you to a secluded area, he asks just how much you hate him before kissing you. Shocking your crew when you start dating.
Your F16 shot past Phoenix and Bob one’s. Breathing loud in the mask as you turned the handle. Your F16 doing a turn, hanging vertical up in the air. – “Wow slow down there Y/n.” – Phoenix called out over the intercom. – “Back.” – Bob shouted loud seeing another F16 behind him. Phoenix pulled up as the F16 went nose up. She let it tip till it faced forwards once more. Confused she looked at the F16 that had simply flew forwards.
Ignoring them in the dogfight. – “What are you doing?” – Phoenix whispered. You groaned loud making your F16 twirl in the air. The F16 on your tail, not easy to loose. – “Cut it out Bagman!” – you shouted over the intercom. You heard him chuckle. – “I’m coming for you.” – he laughed out. He sped up ignoring Coyote’s F16 that he could’ve easily played out of the game.
Turning and tumbling, you tried to get your F16 behind Hangman’s. – “Not interested in more snacks?” – Phoenix teased over the intercom. Hangman only seemed to have eyes for you. Making it his goal to cut you out of the game. Everything else not caring for. – “Nope, just the big meal.” – he replied over the intercom with a smile.
He was tailing you. Following your F16’s movement smoothly. Narrowing his eyes a bit, he flipped the protecter up. Giving him a clear to press the button. The scanner on his screen tracking you mindlessly till it found a lock on you. –“Gotcha.” – he said pressing the button. There were some beeps as he cheered loud. – “You’re out of the game Scout.” – he shouted loud in victory.
You turned round to fly beside him. Hangman saluted you as you held your hand up, flipping it over to stuck your middle finger up to him. Hangman laughed more. – “God I love winning from you Scout.” – he said with ease, getting all comfortable in his seat. You brought your F16 down to the landing track.
Rooster came running up to you as you got out of the F16. – “God I hate him.” – you muttered out. Rooster joined your side, swinging his arm around your shoulder. – “3 minutes Scout. You managed to get him off your back for 3 minutes. That’s 20 seconds longer than last time.” – Rooster spoke as you laughed mockingly at him.
“Every damn dogfight!” – you groaned out. – “He always singles me out.” – you finished with frustration. Every dogfight Hangman always came chasing after you to get you out of the game. In the beginning it took him about 30 seconds to do so. Over the courses, you had figured he’d only come after you so you adapted. Learning how to stay out of his sight that little longer.
Today it seemed to be 3 minutes. 3 minutes he had been chasing you around before kicking you out of the game. Why? No one had a clue. Perhaps cause he was just an asshole. Rooster pushed you closer to him. – “I’ll buy you drinks when this is over.” – he said. – “You better.” – you answered nudging him in the side.
Rooster chuckled leading you back to the others. Maverick patted you on the back once you joined the others. With a deep sigh, you sat down. Listening in on the intercom of Hangman and Phoenix still up in the air. After another 2 minutes or so. It was over.
Hangman walked in all smug. Phoenix shooting him a glare as Bob walked quietly behind her. You were all dismissed as you and Phoenix walked to the changing rooms. Holding your fresh shirt in your hands, you had the need to groan loud in frustration. – “Every single time.” – you called out catching Phoenix’s attention. – “I hate it.” – you added. – “I know.” – Phoenix said dramatically noticing a figure appear in the door opening.
“Isn’t that sweet.” – Hangman came leaning against the door, arms crossed. – “You’re getting all worked up over me.” – he teased with a pestering smile. Giving him a glare, you threw your shirt at his face. He dodged it as it landed in the hallway. Jake chuckling teasingly taking a run for it. You rolled your eyes, getting to the hallway to retrieve your shirt.
You finished getting dressed, slamming your locker shut. You drove with Phoenix to the bar, meeting up with everyone else. Most of the boys were already there. You waved Phoenix goodbye, coming up to the bar. You held two fingers up to Penny as she already knew the order.
On the other side of the bar appeared Hangman. – “I’ll have four more on the old timer.” – he said, leaning with his elbow on the bar. Penny quirked her eyebrow up. – “Oh, I meant Y/n.” – he enlightened Penny with a slight point at you. – “Don’t you ever grow tired of your lame jokes?” – you asked him. – “Nope.” – he responded all quirky. – “Certainly not when I can make you blush like that.” – he said.
Immediately you pressed your hand against your cheek, feeling if you had warmed up. Feeling if you were flushed without you knowing. Jake laughed loud from your reaction. He had lied, but it was fun to see you actually believe it. Penny sat down the beers in front of Hangman. – “Next time it’s your turn.” – she warned him.
Hangman clicked his tongue with a wink at you. Penny turned to your side of the bar. Giving you a sympathetic smile whilst giving you the drinks. You took them, going around the bar to your company. Phoenix sat in one of the booths with Fanboy and Rooster. You set her drink down, scooting in at Rooster’s side.
“He still bothering you.” – Rooster asked, swooping an arm over you. Your gaze flashed towards Hangman by the pool table. He looked back at you with a smile, tapping the pool stick gently on the ground. – “He just thinks he’s interesting.” – you told them, making them all laugh. – “Enough about Bagman. I want to enjoy this night.” – you said leaning closer to the table. – “Cheers to that.” – Phoenix said holding her drink up.
You raised your drink as well letting it touch with hers. The four of you chatted and laughed. Having so much fun it showed. It caught Hangman’s attention from time to time. A few more hours in and drinks away, you got up for another order. Exhaling loud you made your way over to Penny’s bar. Leaning a bit on the counter, waiting for her as she had gone to the back for some refills.
From across the bar, your eyes met up with a boy. He wore his uniform as you figured he was on a different program. He smiled at you, making you smile shyly back. He couldn’t seem to get his attention away from you. Penny returned, blocking his view as you saw him try to look past her to catch you.
It made you chuckle teasingly finding it cute. The man ordered as he then gestured at you. – “I’m buying her drinks too.” – he said. – “That’s be five more drinks on your behalf.” – you told him, letting him know he wasn’t just buying for one drink. – “Sure.” – he responded with a sweet smile. Penny didn’t interfered getting the drinks. The man patted the bar before going around and joining your side.
“So you’re a Top gunner.” – he remarked observing your uniform. You turned more towards him, observing his uniform. It had a dark blue shade. – “You’re an upper-sider.” – you acknowledged. – “That I am ma’am.” – he said making you laugh. Penny was setting the drink on the counter as you only seemed to have eyes for each other. The guy picked up a drink, handing one to you. He took one for himself, letting your drinks touch. – “Cheers to you sugar.” – he said. You leaned a bit closer, chatting with him. You remained by the bar as your friends were still waiting for their drinks.
Hangman’s gaze fell on you by the bar. Seeing another man with you. His eyes widened brief before they narrowed to a glare. – “Hangman… Hangman… Jake.” – Coyote said to get his attention. Coyote patted Jake against his shoulder. – “It’s your turn man.” – he said surprised when Jake pushed his pool stick into his hands. He made his way over to the bar, ready to break whatever was going on apart.
Jake moved himself in front of you, blocking your way from him. The guy looked surprised at the sudden appearance of him. Jake eyed him up and down. – “What do you think you are doing?” – he asked rudely. – “I…I’m just talking to her.” – the guy answered. Jake scoffed with a put up smile. – “Jake.” – you shout-whispered behind him, nudging his back with your fist to make him cut it out.
“I’m sorry but I didn’t gave you permission to talk to her.” – Jake answered. – “Jake.” – you repeated giving him another nudge to stop embarrassing you. – “I didn’t know I needed permission.” – the guy answered, not backing down. Jake gave him a taunting smile to mock him. – “Jake please.” – you begged for him to stop being such an idiot.
“I’ve got a fun idea.” – Jake said giving the guy a little shove by his shoulder. – “Why don’t you back off.” – he called out. – “Jake!” – you called out loud, already feeling embarrassed enough as all your friends were watching. – “What are you her boyfriend or something?” – the guy asked loud. You hated it and wanted to escape so you started to leave. Before you even set two steps, you were held back by Jake grabbing your wrist, keeping you by his side.
His grip firm around your wrist. The hatred in his eyes clear. Jake bumped hard with his shoulder against him, whilst dragging you along. You looked back over your shoulder to Phoenix, not sure what was happening. Phoenix could only stare speechless back at you. Jake dragged you over to where the toilets were. Secluded and away from everyone else. He let go of you by the window.
“What the hell Hangman!” – you called out. Suddenly startled when Jake moved closer, pressing his hands beside you on the glass, locking you in. – “How much do you hate me?” – he asked, making you widen your eyes in shock. – “What?” – you called out confused. – “Just how much do you hate me Y/n.” – he needed to know. For a moment you thought he was serious till you saw that smirk appear.
“I…I…I don’t know.” – you responded stuttering as you couldn’t utter a word. Not with Hangman leaning in so close to you. You looked away, finding his fixed stare a bit too intense. Hangman removed one hand from against the glass, taking your chin to make you face him. – “How much.” – he whispered eyeing your lips. You parted your lips to speak, not sure what to say. A moment later were his lips on yours.
To your surprise you were kissing him back. Not sure why you were kissing this fool back. His hands touched your lower back, pressing you closer to him as your hands found a way to his neck. Hangman broke the kiss off whilst smirking. – “So how much?” – he asked teasingly making you roll your eyes at him, pushing his face away by his cheek in a playful way.
He grabbed you again, kissing you a second time as he didn’t seem to get enough from it. The two of you returned to the others, collecting the drinks still on the bar to hand them out. Hangman winked at you before returning to Coyote to finish his game.
The next day you were in the hangar with everyone. You sat down with Phoenix and Bob. Maverick chatting with Cyclone as they waited for the last recruits to join them. Hangman, Fanboy and Coyote neared to take a seat. Hangman first went over to you, coming to stand behind your chair. He pressed his hands down on it, lowering his head as he gave you a kiss upside down.
Phoenix’s eyes widened as Bob’s jaw dropped. Even Maverick stared shockingly at the display. Hangman pulled himself back up, seeing all eyes were on him. – “What?” – he called out. You could disappear from embarrassment. Hangman nudged Bob against his arm to get up, making way for him. Bob got up still staring as Hangman came sitting down in his seat.
"Please begin.” – Hangman told Maverick. Bob quickly took a seat behind Phoenix as Maverick cleared his throat. He moved up to the front, beginning his lecture. It was hard to get everyone’s attention as no one had thought the two of you would start dating. Coming as a total surprise to them.

Day 24 of Ode to Phoenix
You know what the best feeling in the world is? When you're like "gee, I haven't seen this fic yet, and I want it. Guess I'm gonna have to write it." And then you get on tumblr and see...SOMEONE ALREADY DID IT
I wrote this for a lovely anon, I hope you like it!
It is a Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace x deaf!female!reader imagine.
Thank you @footprintsinthesxnd for proofreading!
Warnings: reader has a hearing impairment
You were going out for groceries with Nat to prepare dinner to meet her friends for the first time when you realized that you were standing in the same aisle in which you had first met her, the love of your life, all these months ago.
You had just put the glass of jam into your cart when you saw a gorgeous woman approach you, with a wide smile and her eyes trained on you as she began to speak.
Her smile was entirely infectious and you couldn’t help but smile back, but your face soon turned apologetic as you tried to focus on the movement of her lips to keep up with what she was saying.
You chuckled gently, your eyes focusing back on hers when she finished speaking.
The way the woman was looking at you as well as her beautiful combination of light skin and dark hair took your breath away, and it took you a moment before you could react.
You raised your hand to your ear and gently shook your head with an apologetic smile on your lips, trying to show her that you couldn’t communicate with her the way she wanted you to.
Nat’s reaction had only taken a second as she had thought about it before pulling out her phone and quickly typing away at it.
She turned her phone so you could look at it and read what she had written in the notes app, the heat rushing into your cheeks as your eyes met hers again.
‘I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met, I just needed you to know that’ were the words beaming at you from her phone screen, and you felt similarly glowing as well.
You had been taken aback, the heat in your cheeks only ever intensifying as your heart rate quickened.
You didn’t quite know what to do but Natasha turned her phone back to herself to type, a hopeful smile playing around the corners of her lips.
When she turned the phone again the screen read ‘can I get your number?’, and you had gladly given it to her.
She had texted you immediately and you had a conversation over text messages while standing in front of each other, taking in the other’s reaction.
Now a few months had gone by, and you had developed a relationship that you and Natasha lived for.
Natasha had learned to communicate with you through simple touches, glances, and of course ASL, which she had picked up rather quickly, and you were grateful for her.
It wasn’t that you were grateful that she did any of these things, it was important and expected of a partner after all, but you were incredibly happy you had found Natasha.
She was kind, caring, funny and a force to be reckoned with, she was headstrong, breathtaking, beautiful, and didn’t let anyone tell her what to do.
You were always so happy whenever you were with her and you moved in together so you could see each other as often as possible.
You were so proud of Nat for what she did and who she was and she was just as proud of you, you could see it in the way she looked at you when others were around.
Nat had asked you whether you wanted to meet her fellow aviators and you had agreed happily, seeing as they had asked to meet you after hearing about you and seeing how happy and at ease you made Nat.
It was obvious she loved you in the way she even just glanced at you, her eyes losing the hardness and fierceness to be replaced with a softness and adoration that was unmatched.
Nat had only ever told them nice things about you and when her friends saw you so tentative and curled into your girlfriend’s side they understood why.
You seemed sweet and shy and just about the perfect person for Nat, someone she could be vulnerable with for once in her life.
Bradley, Jake, Bob, Javy, Mickey, and Reuben all greeted Nat before they turned to you, with Bradley hugging you and everyone else following his example.
It was a heartfelt gesture and you immediately felt at ease, feeling accepted and welcome in their presence.
It was strange for you to come into a circle of like-minded people who did something you couldn’t even fathom for a job, but every one of them was as kind as could be to you.
The conversation started slowly and was rather awkward at first, with everyone standing around the living room with drinks in their hands, but surprisingly Bob was the one who broke the ice.
You were just about to escape back into the kitchen to check on the food that was still in the oven when Bob addressed you, his eyes catching yours and a timid smile appearing on his face, which you mirrored.
“So, how did you two meet?” You read from his lips and were reaffirmed with Nat signing the words to you, and you were glad Bob had asked you instead of Nat, even though he had probably heard it from her already.
You were quick to sign back at her, a wide smile on your lips as you saw the way she reacted to your response.
Nat blushed and smiled and her eyes were only trained on you, her love and focus on you as well.
“She says ‘I was at the supermarket and didn’t know that I was looking for her all my life. But when she tapped my shoulder and told me that she thought I was beautiful I knew that Nat was the one I had been waiting on’”, she translated and you smiled at her, happy to have her and very proud of how quickly she had learned to read sign language.
‘I didn’t tell you you were beautiful, I said you are the most beautiful woman I ever met. And I stand by that statement’, she signed back at you, and you had to laugh at how determined she was to get that point across.
When you laughed Nat looked at you as if the world revolved around you, and you leaned in to kiss her lips tentatively once you had finished laughing.
The others just watched your small exchange with compassionate smiles, seeing and also to an extent feeling the love you shared in their chests as well.
You led some more of those small conversations before the timer on your phone buzzed, signaling that the food was ready.
Nat sat next to you at the dinner table, always trying to sign as much as she could to you.
It was an evening filled with stories and laughter, Nat translated what her friends said and sometimes signed funny comments of well-meant jokes about her friends to you, and you signed back with just as much happy enthusiasm.
From then on Nat took you with her wherever she went, to the Hard Deck, to meet friends at their place, or to Navy events, where she was adamant to get an interpreter for the speeches.
You were always beside her with a smile that was fueled by her love and devotion to you, which you of course gave right back to her.

day 6 - i’ll be home for christmas - natasha “phoenix” trace
a/n: this is your warning that this was originally made with the paris/rise universe in mind
summary: Your first Christmas with Natasha, you and your brother reflect on all you’ve gained (and all you’ve lost).
inspired by frank sinatra’s “i’ll be home for christmas (if only in my dreams)”
12 days of ficmas | main masterlist | top gun: maverick masterlist
warnings: swearing, kissing, jake’s a sad boy, i wrote hangster into this so what
word count: 933
"I hate Christmas.”
Your eyes flicker over to your brother, who is leaning up against the kitchen counter. Phoenix shuts the fridge behind you, handing you a Diet Coke as her arm wraps around your shoulder. “Bagman, you hate everything.”
Javy smirks. “Certainly not, he doesn't hate Bradshaw. In fact, I think just last night he was telling me just how much he loves him-” Jake shoots him a look, effectively cutting him off. You snicker, leaning closer to Nat.
“Christmas is just so-” He sighs, looking over to you. “C’mon, you know. We’ve had horrible Christmases.”
You shrug. “Sure, but that doesn’t mean I hate Christmas. I actually appreciate the holidays more now that I get to spend them with people who actually love and care about me.” Nat squeezes you.
Jake sighs, a frown settling on his face, saying nothing more on the matter as the sounds of Fanboy and Payback entering the home reach your ears.
-
“Hey look, mistletoe.” You snicker as Natasha squeezes your hands, pulling you under the decoration.
“You did that on purpose.”
She gives a half shrug, stepping closer to you. “Does it matter? You have to give me a kiss now.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Oh do I now?”
She nods. “You’re legally obligated.”
“Oh, well in that case, if I’m legally obligated to...” You trail off, reaching up to cup Nat’s face as you press a soft kiss to her lips. “That good enough for you?”
Her eyes are still closed as she hums, moving her hands to your waist. “Mmm, maybe. I think you might have to kiss me again just to be sure. Cover our bases.”
You snort, pinching her hip. “Maybe later, I need to go talk to Mr. Doom and Gloom over there.” You say, nodding towards your brother. Despite the cheery environment of the Christmas party at Rooster’s home, Jake’s spent most of the evening sulking in a corner. Even Rooster couldn’t get through to him, eventually letting his boyfriend have space.
She groans, leaning her head on your shoulder. “He’s always stealing you from me.”
“I am unfortunately responsible for him.”
She hesitates, warm brown eyes flickering over your shoulder “He is okay, right?” You pause, glancing back to your brother, who’s been nursing the same beer for three hours.
“I don’t... I think holidays are just hard for him. He and I don’t have a good track record with them and it’s always just been us for so long.”
She nods, taking a step back. “Well, I’ll be in the kitchen making sure Bradley and Maverick don’t burn the house down.” She presses a kiss to your cheek and then turns. You sigh, walking the few paces to your brother’s seat.
You take the spot next to him, but he doesn’t look up at you. “Hey.”
He grunts in response.
You roll your eyes at him. “Jake, what’s up? You’ve been weird all day.” He shrugs noncommittally, bringing his beer to his lips. The thing must taste stale by now, having sat out all night. “Jake.”
He opens his mouth, but pausing before he speaks. “You ever think- you ever think about talking to Sasch and Ty?”
You frown at the mention of your siblings. “No, not really. Why?”
“They miss you.”
“Yeah, but... I don’t... I don’t need to talk to them.”
He grunts again. “Why the hell not? They’re your family.”
“No, they’re not. You’re my family. They’re my family.” You say, pointing to Coyote and Payback, who are singing Christmas carols off-key while Fanboy drunkenly giggles, taking a video of them. “Our respective significant others in the kitchen are my family. I don’t need people in my life who stand by our homophobic parents. Parents who disowned us on Christmas might I remind you.”
“I remember. I was there.”
You sigh, crossing your legs. “Why do you talk to them still?”
“I don’t have anyone else.”
“You have me.” He tilts his head, not saying anything more. You sigh, fiddling with the ring on your finger. “Jake, I wish so badly I could talk to them. Of course I miss them. Ty was my baby brother. He and I were inseparable and all I wanted to do growing up was be like Sascha. But it hurts too much, reminding me of what I lost.”
“And what if you lose this?”
“Is that- is that what you’re afraid of?” You ask. “That this-” You say, waving a hand to gesture around you, “-is going to go away? That you’ll lose it too?”
“It’s not guaranteed that you’ll get to keep it. What then?”
“Jake, these people are family. They care about you and I and regardless of what happens with Nat, of what happens with Bradley, these people aren’t just going to go away. I know I give you a lot of shit for being insufferable but you’re actually one of my favorite human beings. I’m grateful to have got to keep you in my life and these people feel the same way.”
Your brother finally turns to meet you eye. “you turned out good, you know that? Always proud to introduce you as my baby sis.”
You huff out a laugh, shaking your head. “Yeah, and as much as I hate to say it, it's not without thanks to you. Now c’mon, your moping is bringing the mood down.”
He lets out a laugh, real and genuine, as he stands from his seat. “God, I can’t believe you’re the one I got stuck with.”
“Oh who are you kidding, I’ve always been your favorite.”

Revelations
Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin x Fem!Pilot!reader
Summary: Y/N overhears Jake's heartfelt confession about liking someone and dares to hope it's her. But when she sees him with another girl, intrigue and uncertainty swirl. Is she the one he truly desires, or has she misread the signs?
Word count: 3,010
Warnings: Angst, Misunderstanding, reader jumping to conclusions, eavesdropping, other character plotting against Jake and y/n, tears, sad, fluff, confessions.
Notes: This is somewhat of a continuation of this fic, but you don't have to read it because I intended it to be a standalone. Didn't have time to proof read so sorry for any typos. I hope you enjoy byeeee 💜
Your friends had been relentless in their teasing about Jake having a crush on you. At first, you laughed it off, finding it impossible to believe that Jake Seresin, the eternally confident and suave pilot, could be interested in you. But as time passed, you started noticing small gestures and moments that made you question your initial disbelief.
Jake had always been kind to you, but recently his kindness seemed to extend beyond common politeness. He remembered the tiniest details you shared in passing—how you liked your coffee, your favorite authors, even the specific way you styled your hair on a bad day. He was quick to offer help, whether you needed an extra hand with a task or just someone to talk to. The way he looked at you, with an intense and sometimes tender gaze, made your heart flutter against your will.
Despite these signs, you remained conflicted. The thought of Jake possibly liking you brought as much fear as it did excitement. What if your friends were just teasing for fun? What if Jake’s actions were merely those of a considerate friend? The fear of misinterpreting his actions and making a fool of yourself loomed large in your mind. You began to feel like you were walking a tightrope, delicately balanced between hope and skepticism.
One afternoon, you were walking past the common room at the base when you heard familiar voices—Rooster, Javy, and Jake—engaged in what seemed like a serious conversation. Curiosity and a bit of anxiety gripped you as you recognized Jake's voice among them. You slowed your pace, your heart thudding in your chest, and edged closer to the door.
“I just don’t know how to tell her,” Jake admitted, his voice carrying a vulnerability that you had never associated with him before. You could sense the frustration and hesitation in his words, the struggle of a man who was usually so self-assured finding himself in unfamiliar emotional territory.
Your heart raced. “Could they be talking about me?” you wondered, your breath catching in your throat. The possibility sent a thrilling yet terrifying jolt through your system. You pressed yourself against the wall, straining to hear more, each beat of your heart echoing in your ears.
“But you’ve got to tell her, man,” Rooster encouraged, his tone filled with genuine support. “She deserves to know.” The sincerity in Rooster’s voice struck a chord, amplifying the gravity of Jake’s confession.
“But what if she doesn’t feel the same way?” Jake's voice, usually so cocky and assured, wavered with uncertainty. “What if I ruin everything?”
A pause followed, the silence heavy with the weight of Jake’s fears.
“She won’t.” It was Javy who spoke next, his voice calm and reassuring. “You’ve got to trust yourself. And trust her. She’s not just anyone; she’s special.”
You felt your pulse quicken, a mix of hope and anxiety swirling within you. Could it really be true? Was Jake talking about you? The words from Rooster and Javy seemed to point in that direction, but the fear of jumping to conclusions held you back.
“I know she is,” Jake replied softly, almost to himself. “That’s what makes it so damn hard.”
The vulnerability in Jake’s voice replayed in your mind, planting even more seeds of doubt and hope. The need to discern reality from your friends' teasing and your own fears had never felt more urgent.
Before you could eavesdrop any further, Natasha's voice echoed from down the hall, calling your name. Panic surged through you like an electric shock. Instinctively, you quickly moved away from the doorway, your heart pounding and thoughts racing. As you walked towards her, trying to act casual, you couldn't shake the question that now consumed your mind: Who was Jake talking about?
"Hey," Natasha greeted you with a curious look, her eyebrows knitting together slightly. "What were you doing back there?"
You hesitated for a moment, glancing back toward the room where Jake and the others were talking. Finally, you confessed, “I overheard Jake talking with Rooster and Javy. He was talking about liking someone but didn’t say who.”
A knowing smile crept onto Nat’s face as her curiosity morphed into something more mischievous. “Why are you so worried about Jake liking someone?”
Your cheeks flushed crimson. "I-I don't know. I guess... I guess I just wondered if he was talking about me," you stammered, hardly believing the words were coming out of your mouth.
Nat's eyes widened in realization, her smile broadening into a grin that practically split her face. “Oh my god, you like Jake!”
“No, I—” you started, but Nat cut you off, clearly reveling in this revelation.
“Everyone’s been saying he has a crush on you,” she continued enthusiastically. “Jake's always sweet to you. I'm pretty sure he was talking about you. You should tell him how you feel.”
Your mind raced back to countless little moments that suddenly took on new significance: the way Jake’s eyes lingered on you during group meetings, the playful banter that always seemed to hold a deeper meaning, the subtle ways he tried to be there for you without making it obvious.
“I don’t know, Nat,” you replied, faltering. The fear of being wrong and the risk of vulnerability loomed large in your thoughts.
Natasha placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, her grip firm. “Listen to me, Y/N,” she said earnestly. “You deserve to be happy. And what’s the worst that could happen? If he wasn’t talking about you, then it’s his loss. But if he was… think about what you could be missing out on. Just tell him how you feel.”
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your swirling emotions. The blend of hope and fear still churned in your chest, but Nat's encouragement gave you the courage to consider a possibility you had been afraid to fully acknowledge.
“Thanks, Nat,” you said quietly, giving her a small, grateful smile. She grinned back, her eyes twinkling with excitement. Without missing a beat, she added, “You should tell him tonight at The Hard Deck. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you can catch him in a good mood. Plus, it's a place where everyone feels a bit more confident.”
You nodded, the idea settling comfortably in your mind. The Hard Deck, with its familiar ambiance and sense of camaraderie, seemed like the perfect place. “Yeah, you’re right," you agreed, feeling emboldened by the plan.
Nat’s grin widened. “Great! Then it’s settled. Go get ready, and don’t worry—I’ll make sure he doesn’t disappear before you get there.”
With newfound resolve, you turned back toward the hallway, your heart still pounding but now with a touch of exhilaration. Tonight at The Hard Deck, you would take the leap and tell Jake how you really felt.

Bolstered by Nat’s reassurance, you decided to muster all the courage you had and took a chance. You spent the rest of the afternoon overthinking every scenario, planning out how you would approach Jake and what you would say. The anticipation tied your stomach into tight, nervous knots, but Nat’s words of encouragement echoed in your mind, giving you the strength to push forward.
That evening, you arrived at The Hard Deck, the familiar scents of sea air and salt mingling with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses. The warm glow of string lights cast a welcoming ambiance over the buzzing crowd of friends and fellow pilots. You scanned the room, your eyes searching for Jake.
There he was, leaning casually against the bar, seemingly in his element. His smile was bright, his laughter infectious as he chatted with a few squad members. Your heart pounded in your chest as you took a deep breath, walking purposefully towards him, each step fueled by the hope of finally expressing your feelings.
But as you closed the distance, your heart nearly stopped at the sight unfolding before you. A blonde girl, stunning and radiant, approached Jake with an ease that spoke of intimacy and familiarity. She smiled up at him, her eyes twinkling with affection. Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. Your breath hitched painfully in your throat as you watched her lean in and kiss his cheek, her lips lingering as Jake's arm encircled her waist.
Your world tilted on its axis, the scene playing out like a cruel dream. Every piece of hope you had built up shattered, splintering into a million jagged fragments. The voices around you faded into indistinct murmurs, the vibrant atmosphere of The Hard Deck suddenly feeling cold and isolating.
Swallowing hard, tears threatened to spill as you silently concluded that the conversation you had overheard was about this blonde girl. The connection and affection between them were undeniable, making your earlier hopes feel foolish and naïve.
Crying on the inside, you turned on your heel, each step away from Jake feeling like wading through thick, relentless waves. You slipped out of The Hard Deck, the door closing behind you with an unsettling finality. Your chest ached with unspoken words and unfulfilled dreams, your heart heavy beneath the weight of unreturned feelings.

In the coming weeks, you found yourself avoiding Jake entirely. Whenever his name came up or plans were made that involved him, you made excuses, retreating into a quieter, more isolated version of yourself. Each glimpse of him became a painful reminder of what had been and what could never be, the gap between you widening into an unbridgeable chasm.
Though Nat and other friends noticed, you didn't feel ready to explain. The feelings were still too raw, so you chose to keep them to yourself and carried on as best as you could. You knew deep down that Jake liking someone else doesn’t make him a bad person because he has every right to be with who he wants to be. You had no right to be mad; you were not upset with him, just heartbroken. And that heartache was enough to make you withdraw, even from those closest to you.
The day of Bob’s party arrived, a day you'd been both anticipating and dreading. Just the night before, Rooster had casually mentioned that Jake wouldn't be attending. A mix of relief and disappointment had washed over you—relief for avoiding the emotional turmoil, and disappointment because, as much as you wished otherwise, you still deeply cared for Jake.
As you entered the bustling party, your mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. The loud music, laughter, and upbeat conversations seemed distant as you struggled to enjoy yourself. You chatted with a guy near the drinks table in an attempt to distract yourself, but your eyes kept searching the crowd for a familiar face that wasn't supposed to be there.
Then, as if mocking the emotional preparation you'd done, there he was. Jake, with his striking build and effortlessly commanding presence, stood across the room. A pang of shock struck you, and for a moment, you were frozen. How could he be here? Rooster had clearly said he wouldn't be! You quickly decided to play it cool, hoping he hadn't noticed your initial reaction.
You re-engaged in your conversation, attempting to laugh here and there, but your thoughts were distracted. Your gaze involuntarily kept flitting over to Jake's direction, drawn by an invisible thread. When Jake caught sight of you talking with someone else, his expression darkened with displeasure. He started moving towards you with determined steps, each stride amplifying the wave of unease that settled in your stomach. Your heart rate quickened, and you struggled to maintain your composure as he approached.
“Can we talk in private?” he asked, his tone leaving no room for objections.
“No, Jake, not now,” you tried to brush him off, your voice shaking slightly. But Jake was insistent, tugging you gently yet firmly to the other side of the room.
“Why have you been avoiding me?” he demanded, frustration evident in his voice. The intensity of his gaze was almost too much to bear.
You tried to keep your voice steady. “It doesn’t matter, Jake. Let it go.”
But Jake wouldn't back down. Your voices rose, drawing the attention of everyone at the party. You felt tears welling up, the emotional pressure becoming unbearable. Turning on your heel, you fled to the basement, hoping to find a moment's peace. Jake, however, was right behind you.
“Y/N, please,” Jake pleaded as he finally caught up to you. “What’s wrong?”
“Please just stop! Jake, I don’t want to talk about it,” you said, running your fingers through your hair in frustration.
Before Jake could respond, the door to the basement swung shut with a loud click. You both turned, realizing in horror that it had locked from the other side. Jake tried the doorknob several times, each attempt becoming more forceful and desperate, but it wouldn't budge.
"Great," Jake muttered, running a hand through his hair. "We’re stuck."
You sighed, leaning against the wall. "Just perfect," you said sarcastically.
Jake approached you slowly. “Maybe this is a sign,” he said softly. “We need to talk this out, Y/N.”
Communicating in the dim basement light, you braced yourself for whatever was to come next.
Jake's voice finally broke through the silence. "Please, tell me what I did wrong. I've been unraveling without you."
His words shattered your heart into countless fragments. As you truly gazed at him, the toll of your silence became evident—dark circles lingered under his eyes, his complexion wan and weary.
Heart racing as you paused in uncertainty. You bit your lip, fighting the urge to turn and face him. For a moment, the words seemed trapped in your throat, but Jake's worried eyes spurred you on. Taking a deep, shuddering breath, you finally turned to him, voice trembling with emotion. "I... I've been avoiding you because I overheard you talking with Rooster and Javy about liking someone, and I thought it was about me. But when I saw you with that blonde girl at the bar, I felt so stupid. It was clear to me then that you were talking about her."
Jake's expression shifted from confusion to shock. “You overheard our conversation? And what girl are you talking about?”
Your frustration spilled over, tears threatening to fall. “I don’t even know! There was a girl at the bar a few weeks ago who hugged you and kissed your cheek. I thought... never mind, it’s irrelevant. You have every right to date whoever you want. It’s none of my business, and I have no right to feel upset or betrayed, and I—”
“Wait, Y/N, hold on,” Jake interrupted, his tone urgent and pained. “That conversation was about you. The girl you saw? She’s my sister. I can’t believe you thought... Y/N, you mean the world to me.”
Confusion mingled with hope. "What do you mean? You were actually talking about me?"
Jake nodded earnestly, stepping closer. "Yes, Y/N, every word was about you. I've wanted to tell you how I feel for so long, but I was terrified because the bond we share is so precious to me. I couldn't bear the thought of losing it. When I was talking to Rooster and Javy, I was trying to find the courage to be honest about my feelings for you. And that girl you saw at the bar? That's my sister. She came to town for a visit, and I wanted her to meet the most important person in my life—you. I can't stand the thought of you feeling hurt because of a misunderstanding. You have no idea how much you mean to me. Seeing you with your beautiful smile, hearing your laughter, it's the highlight of my day. I cherish every moment we spend together. Y/N, you are my best friend, but you're also the one who makes my heart race. My feelings for you have only grown stronger over time, and I can't keep them hidden any longer. You are my everything, and I just want us to build something even more beautiful together."
A mixture of relief and happiness washed over you, your eyes welling up. “Oh, Jake, I’ve felt the same way for so long. I didn’t know how to tell you either. Seeing you with someone else just crushed me... I’m so sorry I acted like that.”
Jake chuckled softly, the sound filled with affection. “It’s alright, Y/N. I get it. But you don’t have to worry about anyone else. It’s always been you.”
Your heart swelled with emotion as you looked into Jake’s eyes. “I should have talked to you instead of hiding away. I’m so embarrassed. I’m really sorry for everything.”
He grinned, wiping a tear from your cheek. “Well, we do make a good drama for the team, don’t we?”
You laughed, the sound breaking the tension. “Yeah, I guess we do.”
Jake gently cupped your face, his thumb brushing away the last of your tears. “How about we stop the drama here and start something real instead?”
With your heart full of joy, you nodded, and he leaned in, pressing his lips to yours in a tender, heartfelt kiss. The moment was perfect, everything you had dreamed of and more.
As you pulled apart, breathless and smiling, a loud cheer broke through the silence.
Turning, you saw Rooster, Natasha, Javy, Bob, Reuben, and Mickey clapping and cheering enthusiastically.
“Way to go, Jake!” Rooster called out, grinning widely.
“Finally!” Nat added, her arms raised in celebration.
Javy winked at you and said, “Took you two long enough!”
Bob, Reuben, and Mickey clapped and cheered, their smiles wide with happiness.
Rooster gave Jake a playful punch on the arm. “Good thing I thought to lock you two down here in the basement. You needed this talk.”
You and Jake exchanged a look, laughing together for the first time in what felt like ages. With your friends' cheers still ringing in your ears, you knew this was the start of something beautiful and true.

“Anyone would want to sleep with me. I’m the most fuckable person in this room. Ask anyone.”
"What's Hangman so up in arms about now?" Phoenix asks, sounding unimpressed. She leans against the pool cue, waiting for Fanboy to make his shot, and cracks her knuckles with one hand.
You shrug. "Who knows."
Honestly, you can't even remember who made the comment that got him so worked up, so defensive over his own sex appeal. His general fuckability – which as a side note, you're pretty sure is not a real word.
Maybe Rooster, actually probably Rooster.
Regardless, Hangman has decided to make them all suffer the consequences, going on and on and on.
"Fine," Rooster manages, choking down a laugh, almost always given away in the unmistakable twitching of the overgrown ferret on his upper lip. "Go ahead. Ask anyone then, Hangman. This will be good."
You are minding your own goddamn business in the corner of the common room, sipping a canned red wine that isn't half bad for the price. It is sweet, a little bubbly, pleasant.
You press your lips against the cool edge and are in the middle of a sip when Hangman catches your eye, a sharklike gleam in his green eyes.
Is it worse to make eye contact or break it? Is that bears or sharks who see it as a challenge?
And in truth, Hangman is neither. He's more or less harmless with a sometimes sharp bite.
You lower the can, slow and suspicious, narrowing your eyes at him with a raised brow. “Can I help you, Hangman?”
Smirking, Hangman drawls, “You owe me a truth from earlier, ain't that right? You ran out on the game before I could get my question out."
You roll out a red carpet of curses in your brain and swallow another mouthful of the sweet red wine.
You'd gotten a call from the Domino's driver to come down and grab the pizzas from the front door before Hangman could ask whatever pointed – and alarmingly observant – question had popped into his scheming brain.
Everyone else has forgotten the game with some pizza in their stomach and a basketball game on the big screen, but clearly, Hangman has a good memory. Bastard.
"Fine. Hit me with your best shot, Hangman."
Fire away and all that.
His canines are gleaming white. "Who would you most want to have sex with in this room? No, wait, I should give everyone a fair chance of selection. Pick two."
"Together? Or separate?"
His brows raise, and Hangman's smirk deepens. "Well, damn. Someone's a little adventurous." Your eyes are practically slits now, staring him down. "Together. Who would you have a threesome with in this room? And unfortunately, no, I don't have a twin."
“My nightmare,” Phoenix mutters, and Fanboy shakes with silent laughter.
“Hmmm…”
An answer had popped into your head the second that Hangman asked, but in the name of suspense, you pretend to mull it over and really contemplate.
You look around the room. Halo and Fritz are on the sagging couch with Yale and Harvard in the opposite chairs, watching the game too closely to overhear this cursed conversation.
Bob and Fanboy are strategizing in the corner, but Bob is definitely listening. His shoulders don't look quite natural.
Across the pool table, Payback shows you his wedding band with a faux scolding expression. You grin.
“I guess I'd have to pick... Phoenix and Bob."
Rooster absolutely crows with laughter as Hangman goes into a full control-alt-delete shut down and reboot, blankly staring at you with disbelieving eyes and a slack jaw.
Someone should commemorate this moment. Add it to one of the frames in the Ready Room.
"Are you malfunctioning?" You drain the rest of the wine and drop the can into the nearest recycling bin. "You know I'm bisexual, right, Hangman?"
"But Phoenix and Bob?" Hangman splutters, as if recovering from an ordeal with a capital O. "I need the reason. Why would you pick them?"
You glance over at Phoenix, who is regarding both of them with a smug smirk. You don't dare look at Bob right now.
You smile, radiant and knowing, with a “Follow up questions aren’t part of the game, Hangman,” and breeze across the room for another can of wine, patting him on the shoulder.
"So..."
Five or so minutes later, Phoenix sidles up to you and sits on the arm of your chair, ignoring the perfectly good and empty chair in the corner. Her boot brushes against your leg.
She leans in, and Phoenix's familiar vanilla and amber scent washes over you.
"Am I allowed to ask a follow question?" A nod, and Phoenix looks kind of self-satisfied. Kind of smug. "Did you mean it? Or were you just kicking the chair out from under Hangman? Because..." She lowers her voice, all smoke and velvet. "I had fun with you before. Just us."
"Both..." You pause. "I kind of wanted to knock him on his ass, but also, I was very much serious."
Her smile widens, and Phoenix leans in more, brushing the shell of your ear in a puff of warm breath. "Meet me in my room in 20 minutes."
Her canine grazes your earlobe for a brief second.
You blink, dazed, and Phoenix is already walking away.
"What about...?"
What about Bob? is the question on the tip of your tongue, but obviously, you can't call that out in this room. He is still here somewhere.
She looks over her shoulder, dark eyes warm with want and promise, and mouths, "20," with a wink.
A little over 20 minutes later, Phoenix has your wrists pinned down on her soft sheets, nudging under your chin with her slender nose in search of the sensitive spot on the side of your neck.
Her bottom lip drags against it.
You bite down on a moan, and in retaliation, Phoenix bites the spot harder.
"I want to hear you," Phoenix murmurs, an order wrapped in a pretty bow. "You sound so pretty, angel."
She kisses you again and sucks your bottom lip between hers, making it impossible to bite down on.
And with intent, Phoenix slides a smooth thigh between your legs, dragging her knee against the red flash of fabric that covers your cunt and grinds down.
"Come on. Let me hear you."
A drawn out moan escapes your mouth, and right then, Bob walks in.
He closes the door behind him, oblivious, and then, spots you both and freezes.
"Phoenix?" Bob manages, sounding uncertain. His eyes are wide and blue behind the wire frames. "You said 30 minutes, right? Should I – I can come back. We can catch up another time."
Despite the words, Bob doesn't move. He looks down, cheeks pink and flushed, but doesn't move.
"Don't worry, Bob." Phoenix releases your arms and climbs over the edge of the mattress with a smile. Walks over to him in an electric blue bra and underwear set that looks downright radiant against her dark hair.
She looks like a goddess.
"You want him here, don't you, angel?"
She circles behind him, sliding the plaid button-down shirt from his broad shoulders. It crumples to the carpet without resistance as Bob raises his chin and meets your eyes.
"You told me before," Phoenix prompts. "Tell him."
He is watching you, waiting on your answer with bated breath.
A long breath releases from your mouth.
You push up on your elbows, then your knees, wanting to see him more clearly.
“Earlier with Hangman… I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted both of you. I want you – both of you – to fuck me."
His Adam’s apple moves as Bob swallows, sudden and hard.
He looks surprised. He shouldn't be.
He's always felt a little out of reach, so damn nice. You didn’t want to freak him out – or worse, offend him with a casual invitation to very casually fuck your brains out and maybe, let you suck his cock before or afterward.
You’re not picky. Whatever works for him.
You were pretty sure Bob was at least a little interested, but now... Bob only stares.
Phoenix gives him a gentle push and strolls over to the record player. She looks casual and languid, flipping through the records, but you're not so fooled. She's giving him a moment alone with you.
"Phoenix and I have... before, but I want you as much as I want her. Do you want me? is the only question, I guess."
He coughs into his elbow, messing with his lenses, which are fogging every so slightly. "I do. You're very pretty and nice, and I've... I mean, I do want you."
A smile dimples your cheek. "Oh, I'm pretty and nice, am I?"
"Shut up," Bob mutters under his breath with a slight smile. His ears are a little red.
You reach out and pull him closer to the mattress, pulling until Bob has to plant a knee on the edge to keep his balance. He watches you with wide eyes and says your name in a rush of breath – like a sharp wind over the ocean – and leans in, gravitating.
He cups your chin, slow and careful, pulling you in for a slow kiss that fizzles in your bloodstream like champagne. He is still giving you ample time to pull back and change your mind.
You deepen the kiss, even as Bob holds back.
You're still not sure Bob believes you.
Music swells from the corner, slow and sultry and sensual, as Phoenix settles behind you. She unlatches your bra and pushes it from your shoulders, running her fingers in soothing circles over the muscles.
She reaches between you and him, moving to cup your breasts, but at the last second, Phoenix skims her hand down the curve of your stomach and down and down, dipping under the waistband of your panties.
Clever fingers glide through your wetness, glancing off your clit in a tease that makes you whimper into Bob's mouth. A satisfied hum vibrates your back.
"So wet already, darling. We haven't done anything other than kiss you. You must really want us," Phoenix murmurs, warm against your ear, licking the sensitive patch of your neck again. "Come here, Bob."
She pulls you back from him with a hand around your throat – squeezing once, hard enough to make you feel light all over – and puts her glistening fingers in his open mouth.
His moan makes you even wetter.
You watch, breathless, as Bob closes his eyes and licks your taste from her fingers. His pupils are blown, eyes almost black, when Bob opens his eyes again.
His groan against your mouth is a rough sound, drawn out and unrepentant. He kisses you like religion, like a prayer.
Phoenix's voice is smug in your ear. "He believes me now."
You've been paired with Bob and Phoenix on enough exercises to know that the Naval aviators are an unstoppable pair in the air, cutting through the skies with grace and precision.
You'd imagined – more than once – that Bob and Phoenix would be an unstoppable pair in the bedroom as well. Sue you, okay? Who wouldn't?
Phoenix had been a force on her own, pinning you down and making your thighs shake over her shoulders; coaxing you to the edge and kicking you over without warning with a razor sharp smile that bordered on mean.
Bob always seemed so quiet. Seemed so unassuming.
But Bob dated, and on the one and only occasion the WSO brought a date back to the shared apartment complex, all of the Daggers had heard about the dying cat sounds that'd been loud enough to bleed through the walls. Hangman had been relentless.
You were seemingly the only one who could put the admittedly horrendous moaning aside and remember the other sounds.
(Oh, oh, Bob, oh, Bob. Fuck me. So good.)
You knew Phoenix was good in bed.
You had a feeling about Bob.
Together?
You were absolutely and without a shadow of a doubt right.
Phoenix is in the backseat for once but never ever on the sidelines. She seems to sense that the WSO might still need more reassurance, might need some control to feel wanted here.
She focuses on you, nibbling your neck and pinching your aching nipples, as Bob rests on the red and orange pillows, watching you swallow his cock, mesmerized.
You pull back, keeping him half in your mouth and circling his base with your hands, and run your tongue along the sensitive underside of him.
He bobs in your mouth, letting out a rough curse.
"Are you sure?" Bob had asked before, stilling the hands that were reaching for his zipper, running a thumb across the veins at the base of your wrist. "We can start with something else. I don't want you to feel pressure."
"Positive. I've wanted to suck your cock for about six months now."
He blinked, looking even more owlish with his glasses on the nightstand. "Six months? You've only been here for like six months."
You cut in, "And I wanted to suck your cock the whole damn time. Any other questions?"
He audibly swallowed, and Phoenix grinned.
You could easily get lost in him – lose minutes, even hours with the weight of him on your tongue and the sound of his broken moans in your ears – but Phoenix is too impatient to let that happen.
She nudges your soaked underwear to the side and pushes one, two, three of her fingers inside of you. You're wet enough that Phoenix doesn't meet any resistance.
"She's so fucking wet for you, Bob. Jesus Christ," Phoenix moans. A wet kiss is pressed into the curve of your shoulder, against the nape of your neck. "Should I make her come?"
God... and Phoenix says it like, What do you think, Bob? Am I clear? Should I take the shot?, in the same voice from the air. Asking him to weigh the pros and cons. Deferring to his decision.
You'll never be able to be paired with them on a drill again and not remember.
You would breathe a sigh of relief when Bob nods, except for... well, obvious reasons. You swallow around him, and Bob leaks against the back of your throat.
You're already aching, and Phoenix is pressing the heel of her palm against your clit. Pleasure is building in the pit of your stomach, and you need, you need, you –
"Or..." Phoenix drawls, easing up on the pressure, all casual and unaffected. She works you open, steady and constant, pinching the thigh that tries to rock you against her hand. "I could edge her for you. Make her wait to come on your cock."
God, Phoenix can be mean in bed. You'd almost forgotten.
You kind of hate her for it right now.
(You really don't.)
You whimper around Bob's cock and clench around Phoenix's fingers at the same time, digging your nails into the pale skin of Bob's muscular thighs, already bruised with a small love bite from earlier.
An abrupt fuck spills from Bob's bitten lips.
He pulls out of your mouth without warning, squeezing a hand around his base and screwing his eyes closed to keep from coming right then and there.
"Jesus Christ, Phoenix."
"So Bob seems to like that idea," Phoenix observes, almost conspiratorially. Her fingers catch your chin. "What about you, pretty girl? You want to come now or on Bob's cock?"
You are a little out of breath but no less certain.
"Do I even have to answer that?"
As a reward, Phoenix slips her tongue in your mouth and starts all over again, ever careful to pull back at the exact right moment when your breaths are short and your gaze is glassy and unfocused.
You are shaking and warm all over when Phoenix is satisfied, running her fingers through the arousal that slicks the inside of your thighs, underwear long discarded on the floor somewhere now.
"Can I..."
You are on your back now, and Bob leans over and sucks your nipples in his mouth. You lose focus, running your fingers over the hard length of him, smearing his pre-cum over the head.
"Can you what?" Phoenix prompts, ghosting a knuckle over your swollen clit. You quiver.
"I want to eat you out. Didn't get to do that last time, remember?"
You seize Bob's shoulder, keeping him pressed against your chest, and Bob makes a pleased sound, content to lavish your breasts with licks and nibbles right now.
You continue, "I want to eat you out while Bob fucks me."
"Well," Phoenix replies, breezily, brushing her hair over her shoulder and bends to suck on your other nipple. "We can probably make that work."
"Fuck," Bob breathes again.
You've never heard him curse so much, not even in actual missions.
A content sigh pushes everything else from your brain.
You lick at Phoenix again, licking a stripe up the center of her cunt, drowning in the warmth and silk, as Bob pushes into you from behind, bare and hard and so goddamn big.
Fuck is right.
"God..." Bob moans against your damp skin, pulling out and easing back in again. His accent comes out in bits and pieces, smoothing the edges from his words. "Feel so good. S'good for me. So good for us, darlin'."
You melt at the praise and nuzzle deeper into Phoenix with a sigh of pleasure, circling her clit with a content hum that makes her breath go all uneven and shuddering.
Satisfaction slides down your spine, warm and consuming.
You could stay here for hours between them. You would.
She's quick to instruct and correct, but once you're in a rhythm with your fingers hooked inside, Phoenix is nothing but moans and sighs and oh god, so good, oh god.
She comes in your mouth with a sharp gasp and rolls out from under you, which leaves Bob with enough room to double his efforts now.
He presses praise against your neck, circling his fingers around your clit with precision and attention; urging you to come for him with gentle pleas and deep thrusts and blissfully, a well-placed palm against your aching cunt.
You shatter around him as Bob spills inside of you.
Oh my god are the only words that are forming in your head right now. You want to say something else.
Holy shit maybe.
We should definitely do that again even.
But Phoenix doesn't give you even a second of peace.
"You're a mess, angel," Phoenix comments, light and almost mocking. She spreads your legs wide and looks you over. "Let me."
You expect Phoenix to wipe you down, but instead, Natasha presses her mouth against your sensitive cunt.
Stars erupt in your vision. Galaxies.
She licks and licks every inch of you, holding down your shaking legs, until you come again, damn near crying from the overstimulation, shuddering.
Wetness dampens the sheets underneath you, and Phoenix licks the cum that drips down your legs, some yours, some Bob's, and kisses you right on the mouth.
You definitely mean to get your clothes and pee and everything after, but Bob is warm against your side. He nuzzles into the crook of your neck and passes out with an arm across your chest.
Sleep pulls you under soon after.
Phoenix is the first one to leave the bed and even then, only to put on a quieter record and go right back.
note: is she the filthiest smut piece i've ever written? maybe. she's named after red wine supernova by chappell roan, which is so fun and so queer and worth a listen 💖 leave a comment before i regain an ounce of shame.

“Nix, if you think I want to spend my Sunday evening learning to salsa dance with a bunch of soccer moms then I think your concussion hasn’t healed properly.” Jake sasses in response to Nat’s invitation.
“Yeah, I’m sorry Nat but Sunday is my chill out day, when else am I gonna beat Fitch’s ass on cod?” Fanboy reasons.
Natasha knew it was a stretch asking the boys to join her salsa dancing class, but she thought it was important for them to get out more. At the moment, seemingly all they did was trudge from work to the Hard Deck over and over again.
She sighs, “it would be good for you guys to get out more, y’know?”
“I’ll go, Nat,” Bob smiles, nodding to her from where he is perched on a stool behind her.
“Thank you, Bob.” Nat nods back to him, “the rest of you can suck it.”
“Hey!” Bradley yells as he appears back from the bar, beers in tow, “what did we say about using that type of language?”
“Shut up Dadley,” Nat rolls her eyes as Bradley flicks his tongue out before handing her a beer.
“As much as I’d truly love to attend that class ‘Nix, I’m already a salsa pro and I wouldn’t want you to feel embarrassed about your skills,” Bradley declares, before taking an obnoxious sip of his beer.
“Yeah fuckin’ right, and my dad is prima ballerina,” Jake snorts.
“Let’s not discredit Papa Seresin, I saw him tear Boogie Wonderland up at your sister’s wedding.” Coyote nods.
“Yeah and even that shit was better than what Rooster could pull off,” Jake decides.
Bradley only shrugs at the jibe, a lazy smirk plastered onto his face, which serves only to piss Jake off more.
“Dance off?” Fanboy proposes, standing to head to the jukebox.
“No?” Jake frowns.
Fanboy drops back to his seat with a sigh, “was worth a shot.”
Nat shakes her head with a snort and brings the conversation back to the matter at hand.
“Look it’s fine, I’m just saying I think you guys would enjoy it!” She reasons.
“I’m sure it’ll be fun!” Bob adds happily.
Nat can only sigh at the lack of response.
Bob is already waiting outside the community centre when Nat arrives, looking down and nervously picking at a thread on the bottom of his gym shorts.
“You ready?” Nat questions, trying to alleviate his nerves.
When Bob looks up his brows unfurl and he lets a small smile sip onto his face.
“Yeah, sure, let’s do this!” He pumps his fist a little awkwardly.
Nat can only chuckle in response as she makes her way to the room at the left of the reception where the class is held. You’re stood by the door chatting with one of the older women in your class when Nat comes into your view.
“Natasha! How’s my best student?” You tease, stepping towards her.
“I’m great, thanks!” Nat blushes before gesturing to Bob, “I hope you don’t mind, I brought a friend.”
Bob sucks in a breath as you finally lock eyes with him. Shit. You were beautiful and those leggings were doing you an undoubted amount of favours.
Sadly, Bob had an incredibly annoying habit he was unable to shake. It was known as “embarrassing himself in front of beautiful women” and that seemed to strike him just as you stuck your manicured hand out to shake his own.
The breath that Bob had sucked in caught in his throat which was drying up increasingly as he took you in, leading to an unprecedented coughing fit doubling him over. What seemed to make it worse was your shocked gasp and immediate move to lean over him and pay his back gently. Bob tried not to focus on your cleavage directly next to his face and instead on regulating his breathing. It was proving difficult, especially when he could hear Nat cackling at his misfortune from behind him.
Once almost fully back to normal, you squeeze his bicep and chuckle,
“I don’t think I’ve ever quite literally taken someone’s breath away!” You giggle, voice oh so sweet.
Bob can’t even let himself feel embarrassed with the way your soft hand feels on his arm.
“I’m so sorry about that,” he cringes.
“Don’t worry about it,” you smile reassuringly.
Nat is growing seemingly agitated by Bob’s lingering near the door so she steers him forwards away from you.
“Best get set up!” She announces, dragging him into the room.
The classroom is spacious, a high ceiling and large windows on the left wall. The wall facing the door is covered in mirrors that amplify the light in the area.
Before Bob can speak up again, two men who look to be in their late 40s rush over towards Natasha. They’re the complete opposite of one another, the first who reaches for Natasha is tanned and has dark curling hair with flecks of grey throughout.
“Natasha! Darling it is so great to see you!” He exclaims with a slight accent, holding her hand in his.
The other has embraced the grey in his hair, he’s relatively pale but has clearly kept his physique, he nods towards Bob with a glint of something in his eye, “I thought he wasn’t your type?”
Nat snorts, clueing Bob in finally on what the two men were hinting at.
“My best friend, boys don’t worry,” she teases.
“Thank God, I’ve been trying to set you up with my niece for how long now?” The dark haired man smiles.
“I know, I’m sorry, I’m always busy at the moment,” she shrugs apologetically before turning back to Bob, “Bob this is Marco and Luke.”
They both shake his hand and size him up as they do so, the grey haired one (Luke) declares.
“He’s cute, Nat, where have you been hiding him?” He prods.
Bob exhales at the approval and watches as Nat breaks out into laughter. “Away from you!”
Marco and Luke break into laughter alongside Nat and Bob can’t help himself but join. Just as they’re all catching their breath, Bob jumps out of his skin again as he feels his hand on his shoulder.
“Boys, we’re being welcoming to our newcomer aren’t we?” You hum.
Your hip is touching Bob’s and the soft skin of your hand on his shoulder has him malfunctioning, luckily he isn’t forced into replying (or choking) this time.
“Of course we are beautiful, what do you think of us?” Marco gasps in faux shock.
“I think that I know what you two are like,” you roll your eyes before making your way to the front of the room.
You send Bob a sly wink before finally beginning, “It’s so great to see you all again!”
Everyone in the room blurts out greetings at you as you begin, “We’ll continue on from last week,” you strut over to the stereo in the corner and a latin pop track floats out into the room and Bob vaguely recognises the tune.
Marco and Luke are quick to start fluidly moving around the floor space and Bob notices that others in the room are doing the same. You make your way quickly over to him and place your hand on the small of his back, straightening his posture.
“I don’t expect you to get it immediately,” you smile into his ear, “we’ll start off with some basics and turn variations.”
Bob hopes you can’t see the nervous perspiration already forming on the back of his neck and nods a little too eagerly at your words. He looks back to Nat for some encouragement but she’s already dancing and chatting with a group of women next to the tall windows.
“I don’t bite,” You giggle, shocking Bob who looks back to see you holding your hand out for him to grab onto.
“Sorry, I’m not the best dancer-” Bob’s self depreciation is swiftly disrupted by you placing his hand on your waist and the other in your own.
“All the more for me to work with,” you smile, and Bob feels himself smiling back.
Although a tad clunky, Bob manages not to step on your toes and has some surprisingly fluid hip movement which intrigues you ever so slightly.
By the last ten minutes of the class, Bob is twirling Marco around as Luke and Nat chat to you about technique.
“What were you nervous about?” Marco probes Bob, “you’re a natural!”
Bob can only chuckle shyly in response and he glances over at your frame. Marco seems to notice Bob’s longing glances and slowly stops their dance.
“Go for it.”
“What?” Bob splutters.
“She’s been making googoo eyes at you the whole time mister, don’t pretend you haven’t noticed.”
Bob reels for a moment at Marcos admission before straightening up. “You think?”
Marco rolls his eyes. “I know.”
Before Bob can reach you you’re already strutting back towards the stereo to lower the volume of the music and gather everyone’s attention.
“Thank you so much everyone! You’ve all been brilliant today and I can’t wait to see you next week!” You beam at everyone.
People begin to gather to chat and start to disperse and you begin to gather your own belongings, stopping to make conversation with others as you do so. Luke and Nat join Bob and Marco with sly smirks on their faces.
“So…” Nat begins, “You’ll be coming back next week I presume?”
Bob flushes at Nat’s knowing look. “Yeah,” he looks to you, “definitely.”
Bob didn’t mean to let it slip. Like seriously, his lips were so sealed. Air tight.
“But HOW hot are we talking?” Mickey slurs over the nth shot he’d done with Bob at the Hard Deck’s happy hour.
So maybe not air tight.
It was Thursday evening and the rest of the daggers had politely declined drinks with Fanboy, but Bob (the ever dutiful friend) had accepted, hoping to be in and out within the hour. But alas, here they were.
“Fuckin’ smoking,” Bob mimes an explosion with his hands as Mickey nods enthusiastically to his answer.
“I choked on air when I saw her and almost popped a boner during a Justin Timberlake song,” Bob continues to ramble, once given the chance to talk about you he clearly wasn’t going to stop.
“And when is this class?” Mickey slumps closer to Bob, tequila breath hot on his neck.
“Ummmm, Sunday evening at 6 I think?” Bob nods, remembering the details Nat had sent him in a text the week previous.
“Good to know,” Mickey hums, reaching his hand forward to signal for another round, knocking someone’s drink over in the process. “Oops.”
Bob is quick to drag Mickey away from the bar top after that, realising they’d probably overdone it a tad for a weekday evening.
As the cool sea breeze hits Bob’s flushed face whilst him and Mickey wait outside the Hard Deck for their uber, he can’t help but let his mind drift to you, what you were potentially up to, do you teach other classes during the week? Do you dance professionally? God, you definitely could, the way your hips moved-
Bob shook his head, as if to get the image of you stuck in his mind out. He looked to Mickey hanging off of his arm, he was looking to the ground and shaking as if to stave off the imminent vomit that was about to leave his mouth any second now.
“Let’s get you home man,” Bob pats Mickey on the head, dragging him towards their Uber pulling up.
“Hey, Bob!” Nat yells across the parking lot, catching the back of her friend’s tall frame leant against a pillar near the front of the community center.
When Bob turns around, Nat notices two people next to him who she was not expecting to see.
“Fitch? Fanboy?” Nat cocks her head to the side. “I thought you guys were too busy to come?”
Nat’s accusatory eyes meet Bob’s sheepish expression as he awkwardly clears his throat.
“We heard the teacher was hot as fuck.” Payback shrugs.
Fanboy giggles next to him in excitement, “I’ve been practicing-”
“Bob I swear-” Natasha begins, finger pointing right into Bob’s chest.
“Sup, biatches!” Jake yells, alerting everyone of his and Javy’s presence. “Who’s ready to get their salsa on?”
Nat spins around on her heel, eyes shooting daggers into Jake and Javy.
“Bob, I’m going to kill you.” She states, eerily calm.
“Oh come on Phe! You wanted us here just last week!” Jake exclaims, walking round to slap Bob on the shoulder and greet Payback and Fanboy behind him.
“Yeah! When I wanted you guys to get out and do something productive! Not fuck my lovely salsa teacher, who by the way, was not socialised by wolves! So will absolutely not be charmed by any of you fools!”
With that, Nat turns and walks into the community center, leaving the boys to sprint in after her.
“At least this can’t get any worse,” Nat mutters to herself, pulling the door to your studio open.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Nat stills in the doorway, the rest of the boys behind her peeking their heads in.
“What now?” Bob asks guiltily.
Nat opens the door fully and allows the men behind her to file into the studio, where her fellow classmates are stood in a semi circle whooping and hollering at you dancing in the middle with none other than Bradley Bradshaw.
“Fucking Bradshaw,” Jake scoffs, pushing his way ahead whilst checking himself out in the full length mirrors that line the opposite wall of the room.
“Chicken never told us he could dance!” Jake yells over the latin music filling the room, successfully interrupting your dance with Bradley.
Bradley’s head whips to the side at the sound of that familiar ear grating voice. He gives you an apologetic look as he walks over to begin squabbling with a man you presume he knows. The commotion between the boys alerts you to the presence of Natasha and Bob as well as three other unfamiliar men. When Bradley had introduced himself with a smirk and a drawling voice as a friend of Natasha’s you had to wonder whether all of her colleagues were so handsome and by the looks of it, they were.
Nat is quick to walk over to you with an apologetic smile. “I want to apologise in advance for the next hour. They are insufferable.”
You look behind her to where the gaggle of men she calls her close friends are stood, you can see Marco and Luke itching to get their claws in and you have to giggle. This should be interesting.
After instructing the rest of your class to continue practicing the routine you had been working on, you figure it was only fair to come and personally consult your newest joiners.
As the boys (and Nat) notice you wandering towards them, they all begin to elbow each other like school boys giggling amongst themselves. Bob and Nat can only keep their embarrassment internal for so long.
When you come to a stop in front of them, the man you’ve come to learn as Jake smiles dazzlingly and stretches his arms above his head,
“God it is hot in here!” He begins to reach for the bottom of his shirt, aiming to impress you with his toned stomach.
“The A/C is on full blast dumbass.” Nat swats at the back of Jake’s head, causing him to drop his shirt again and rub at his temple. “Ow!”
Snickers fall from Javy and Mickey, who quickly straighten themselves up when they see you casting your eyes over them.
“As I said to Bob last week, with all my new starters I’ll begin with some basics for you guys and then we can ease into a routine,” you smile, heading towards Bradley and Nat.
“Since you two already have some experience you can help me teach!”
Bradley preens under your praise, already assuming the role of teacher’s pet, whilst Nat looks mildly irritated at having to teach her imbecilic friends how to dance.
“Alright guys! let’s partner up!” you shout at them, giggling as they all rush towards you, you note how Bob lingers back behind his more extroverted friends and grin.
“I should clarify, I meant with each other.” You shoo them backwards and watch as they couple up.
Mickey and Reuben clap each other on the back and Javy and Jake nod at one another leaving Bob, stood on his own. You saunter towards him and grab at arm, dragging him to the front with you.
“Looks like you’re with me,” you tease.
“Uh, who do you want me to partner up with?” Bradley scratches at his head obliviously.
You cock your head to the side with a confused laugh.
“I hate you so much right now,” Nat spews, gripping Bradley’s arm and pulling him into position with her.
“Oh, yeah. Right, sorry Nat.” Bradley chuckles.
Your lessons continues with explaining how someone will have to take the lead and the other will follow, and you wander around positioning their hands and postures correctly.
“Javy, you are like a brother to me, but your hands are too fucking low right now.” Jake grits through this teeth.
“Right! Ha, sorry man,” Javy’s hands shoots back up towards the middle of Jake’s back.
Bob is still apprehensive when he places his hands on your waist, but you’re quick to affirm him in his position. Leaning towards him you whisper, “don’t worry you’re still my favourite.”
A smile graces his face at that and he relaxes in your grip.
“Right guys! We’re gonna start with some turns and variations now!”
You quickly learn that trying to wrangle these men is proving difficult, as Payback almost spins Fanboy into a wall after zoning out stating at how your hips moved.
“I’m good bro, don’t worry,” Mickey is quick to readjust himself, hoping the room stops spinning soon.
You can’t help but laugh when Javy attempts to dip Jake to the floor in a move he thought would impress you, but it seems he forgot to account for how tall and heavy Jake is, as he goes toppling down with him.
“Fuck dude! You’re heavy!” Javy groans, rubbing his knee. Jake clearly didn’t take kindly to his words as he shoves back at Javy childishly.
“Boys! Come on get up!” You snap, trying to sound stern but still fighting off giggles.
Jake and Javy are quick to get back on their feet, but you catch them in your peripheral poking and pinching each other when they think you aren’t looking.
Even Bradley who was so light on his feet when he was showing you his moves earlier, is clearly distracted, constantly stepping on Nat’s feet as they practice variations.
“If you step on my toe one more time, Rooster I swear to God, you will not see daylight again,” Nat threatens.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! She’s just so…” Bradley trails off as he watches you dance slowly with Bob, stopping every now and then to correct him kindly or answer questions from others in your class.
“I know! And you guys are scaring her off by acting crazy.” Nat sighs, moving back as she senses Bradley’s feet heading for her toes again.
“I mean I wouldn’t say crazy…” Bradley scratches the back of his neck.
“Well I walked in to see you spinning her around like you’re a pro on dancing with the stars so maybe you should reevaluate.”
“You think I’m that good?” Bradley smirks to himself.
“Oh shut up,” Nat rolls her eyes and looks back to the rest of her friends around the room.
Payback and Fanboy were continually stumbling around in circles as they each try to catch your eye, pissing off everyone else in the room as they bumped and knocked into others. She caught Marco and Luke’s judgy eyes flicking back and forth between her and her friends and groaned.
Jake and Javy looked either one wrong move away from fucking or fighting, Nat couldn’t really tell.
God this was embarrassing.
Luckily, your voice rings out across the room, interrupting her moping.
“Thank you guys for today! And Thank you to my newcomers!” you gesture to the group of men stumbling over each other and stifle a laugh.
“I’ll see you all next week!”
Your regular attenders start filing out slowly, some coming over to chat and collect their things. You can see Nat trying to drag her friends away out they seem intent on lingering long enough to catch some time alone with you.
“You guys might as well go, she clearly wants me.” Jake shrugs, pulling the front of his shirt up to wipe his face.
Mickey is quick to dispute, “Are you kidding me? I twirled like a ballerina, I’m so in.”
Nat is moments away from body slamming her friends who she once loved when it goes silent around her. She figures you finally made you way over.
“Hey guys, thanks so much for joining today! I’m really sorry I’ve got to get going but um- ”
You pause and sense eyes on you.
“Bob, I was just wondering if I could get your number?” you smile, walking towards him and squeezing his arm. “You know, to talk about how we can improve your technique,” your reasoning clear as day even with your coverup
“Yeah! Yes, of course I mean,” Bob composes himself, taking your phone with shaking hands and typing in his number.
“Great,” you wink, retrieving your phone, “I’ll text you.”
You end with that, sauntering past the group and waving goodbye to Nat with a knowing look.
Everyone seems stunned by your words, but mostly Bob who blinks slowly, seemingly still in shock by your acknowledgement.
Nat finally breaks into laughter, doubling over at the confused faces of her other friends.
“Man!” She shouts through her giggles, “you just cannot make that shit up!”
The grumbles around her don’t even phase her as she goes to pick up her bag and head for the door, a group of downtrodden looking men following her and Bob with a newfound pep in his step.
“By the way Rooster, how come you actually are so good?” Nat asks as they make their way into the parking lot.
Bradley stills, silent as he contemplates answering.
“If I tell you, you have to promise to not go searching for anything.” He looks around at his friends.
Following their nods he continues, “I used to compete professionally, when I was like 13, my mom forced me to.” Bradley cringes at the memory of his tween self in sparkly shirts his mom always hand picked out for him in the most hideous colours.
Bradley looks back up to see Jake grinning mischievously at his phone, and his stomach drops.
“Is this you?” Jake smirks, turning his phone around to show everyone an old video on youtube titled.

I thought about spreading the love but... I don't want to.
So I'm back (after some difficult deliberation) kindly asking for holding hands under the table with Pharrow
Sylv, my love. This little blurb is so far out of my comfort zone, and not something I would typically write, but considering this is the third time I got this prompt, I had to shake things up. I hope you like it.
WARNINGS: allusion to infertility, pregnancy mention

Months of tests, doctor’s appointments, paperwork, and failed attempts had led Natasha and Cecily here. In this office, with the stark white walls and harsh florescent lighting, time had seemed to stop.
Cecily barely heard their doctor speaking, her voice far away and muffled. She geared up for more bitter disappointment, terrified that this was the end of the road–that this just wasn’t in the cards for them.
Natasha squeezed her hand where they were joined under the table, and when Cecily turned her head to look at her wife, the knot in her stomach loosened just a little.
No matter what, they would face this together.
“This is a very long-winded way of saying congratulations,” Dr. Castillo said with a wide smile, placing her pen on the desk.
Cecily didn’t dare hope. “Congratulations?” Her eyes darted to Natasha again before returning to the doctor sitting on the other side of the desk.
“You’re pregnant.”
If Cecily squeezed Natasha’s hand any harder, it was entirely possible she’d break every bone in it. “I’m pregnant?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes.”
Tears formed in Cecily’s eyes as she rose from her seat and turned to Nat, who’d stood up right alongside her. She threw her arms around her wife’s neck and cried tears of unbearable joy into the fabric of her t-shirt.
“We’re gonna have a baby,” Nat whispered into her ear, running her hands up and down Cecily’s back.
Cecily didn’t know how long they stood there embracing. She lost count of how many soothing words Natasha whispered, of how many times she tried to let go but couldn’t.
All she knew was Natasha, herself, and the baby growing inside her.
Thank you again for indulging me, Sylv!
