After an incident where Isen was almost left without the ability to have children, Wellston's top students came up with an idea: to participate in a competition together. The winners of the competition would be rewarded with a handsome prize, and the losers would be punished. The rules were simple: first, having any sort of contact with with the other team was strictly forbidden; and second, crushes were not allowed.

An unOrdinary fanfic about romance, war, and four boys and four girls that try to decide what's worse between being born with ovaries and being born with testicles.

im gonna shoot myself if i see one more person say in complete confidence that the hightiers were never held accountable for what they did, that john was punished too severely in comparison, or that the high tiers didnt grow as characters.

johns actions are much more extreme than the high tiers', except maybe arlo. isen, blyke, remi, and most other high tiers were more focused on their own lives than terrorizing weaker people. most of the high tiers' (basically all of them sans arlo) problems were naivete, not realizing the flaws in their system. while johns actions did serve the purpose of showing the high tiers what its like to be weak so that they can realize what is wrong with the hierarchy, johns violence was more extreme than his bullies' and lowkey he was terrorizing EVERYONE, even the people who never did anything to him. johns actions are more extreme, so he gets more extreme repurcussions.

unordinary fans look me in the eye and say that john, who had been terrorizing everyone for at least a month Minimum, shouldnt have to deal w people bsing terrified of him. girl use ur brains. people are scared of john bc he has proved himself unreasonable and cruel, while none of them had problems w arlo (bc arlos actions towards most of them were 1. almost 3 years ago, and 2. considered normal by their society bc as the leader of the school he is also considered the disciplinarian whenever students act up, not considering teachers. his beating up people was different than johns beating up people) and none of the other hightiers had done really anything. cecile isnt innocent btw but none of them had problems w her either bc the few interactions weve seen her have with the common student (juni) seemed friendly..basically the people had little reason to fear the other high tiers outside of their power but john had taken his time making himself a person to fear. fr he was trying to terrify them?? why are we prtending that its unreasonable for them to be scared of him can we please be serious

also johns legal punishment in new bostin and suspension in wellston were both reasonable bc he was regularly hospitalizing people and completely out of control. i dont think u guys realize how strong john is. whenever someone who is seriously described as godlike in power ("god" tier as a term is not that much of an exaggeration by regular human standards) starts going around and beating the shit out of everyone important in a show of power something has to be done. john was EXTREMELY dangerous. also "the punishment wasnt equal" is literally kind of the plot. johns mental spiral at wellston was supposed to expose the unfairness in the system and show how bullies and vicious people should not be able to get away with the things they do to weaker people. we dont think john is that strong bc we're surrounded by the strong in the story, but he is IMMENSELY powerful and should not have been left unchecked. (note, im not saying he deserved readjustment. there should have been a punishment for his literal several counts of felony assault but readjustment was literally psychological torture and he was a month into being 16.)

the hightiers were criticised and held accountable, either by themselves or others. arlo knows full well that he played apart in johns mental spiral and apologised multiple times. remi knows full well that she was naive and should have realized the problem sooner, then takes active steps to solve it and creates a safe space for people of different ranks. blyke literally apologised for shooting at john and had a whole arc of realizing low tier conditions during the x rei outings and trying to be nicer to john and low tiers. idk if isen apologised properly but it is also clear that he knows better than to do what hes done now. the safe house was literally their way of trying to fix their mistakes and be better going forward. aka taking accountability and then working towards being better people??? hello???

also saw somebody say that they acted like the royals had the "moral high ground"... as if they didnt. hello who were the ones actually fixing the problems. who were the ones with real solutions. john was the last in the cast to take accountability and work to be better. john was the schools resident terrorist ??? hospitalizer ??? FELON ??? he has literal FELONY ASSAULT charges fam. and LOTS of them. half his graduating class is actually crazy. since he was rank 427 or something when his ability hadnt come in yet, we can say that there were probably at least 100 people in each grade, since hs is 4 grades. a graduating class is a grade. john beat up 50 people not counting zirian and whoever else in different grades might have attended, not assuming the half the grade thing was an exaggeration. we also arent counting the charges he added at wellston itself. seriously this guy is an absolute menace and the royals were actually better than him morally i dont know why thid is a controversial take in the unordinary fandom. do i have to spell out why "guy with criminal charges for severely injuring 50+ people, probably sending them to the hospital considering he put HIGH TIER remi and blyke in the hospital, who has been terrorizing the school for a while at this point" is worse than "trio of individuals who were raised ignorant to their society's flaws realize the problem and take active steps to fix it, even being so kind as to eventually forgive the guy that put two of them in the hospital like a month prior"

the joker arc is as much johns mental spiral as it is the high tiers' character developments. if u somehow didnt realize that the characters were changing for the better then now u know why fhe english teacher wants you to analyze why the curtain is blue. media literacy come back the kids miss you

Wellston top 8 students as cards! And why I care too much about this

Seraphina: Queen of Clovers -> Ace of Spades

John: Joker

Arlo: King of Diamonds

Remi: Jack of Diamonds -> Queen of Hearts

Cecile: Jack of Spades

Blyke: Ten of Hearts -> Jack of Hearts -> King of Clovers

Isen: Seven of Clovers -> Jack of Clovers

Terrence: Eight of Diamonds

I used Clovers as the suit name instead of the traditional Clubs because clovers are associated with luck (even though these aren’t the four leaf ones), and the Class of Clovers (John/Sera/Blyke/Isen’s year, possibly also Terrence’s) was ridiculously and disproportionately overpowered.

First I want to address Cecile actually she’s weirdly the linchpin in all this. I made her the Jack because I do think she was the Jack that Remi dethroned (while Sera was still Queen), and I ended up choosing Spades for her as it’s the war-like suit that fits the order of Unordinary’s world, as well as her lack of hesitance to use her power to get the job done.

I ended up taking a lot of inspiration from the game of New Texis Hold ‘Em Sera plays with John and William early on. In it, the community cards are the Ten of Hearts, King of Diamonds, and Jack of Clovers. I wanted to make these match up with the Royals at the time.

Given that, it seemed obvious that Arlo would be the King of Diamonds; the untouchable king. Remi would fit neatly as the Jack of Clovers, which kind of fits the relative backseat she seems to have initially taken as the Queen early on. Nobody respects her authority, and the power transfer does seem to be recent. That was kind of a justification I used to say she’s not in her final form yet.

I gave Blyke then the Ten of Hearts, as he’s the third Royal but honestly really shouldn’t be anywhere near the Royals, even if he’s got the spirit of it.

The cards in Sera’s hand are the Queen and Ace of Spades. Seeing as she rose from the role of Queen to the Ace, and the Ace is the most powerful card in the game, I assigned her the Ace of Spades pretty much automatically. Plus she has Ace of Spades imagery, which I pointed out before. But I’d like to reserve the Queen of Spades, and instead make Sera start as the Queen of Clovers. Again, that’s her set in with the rest of the Class of Clovers. When Sera ascends to Ace of Spades, Remi becomes the Queen… and I think it’s not hard to agree that Remi is the Queen of Hearts

With most of Wellston’s Top Five covered, I just wanna check in on John; not much to say here as he’s the Joker, plain and simple. This also ties into that card game hehe

I’d rather do Terrence before Isen, so here goes: he pretty much just goes along with the hierarchy and isn’t driven by his own agenda, so he could be one of the counting cards. I picked Eight since that was the rank he died at. He doesn’t fall under any of the other suits easily, so I just picked Diamonds to isolate him.

I imagine Isen starting at Seven of Clovers, since he entered in that class and ended at that rank. He gets to ascend to Jack, just as he did in story, and he maintains his Clover class.

Meanwhile, Blyke is promoted to Jack of Hearts, since he spends a lot of his time as Jack basically being Remi’s lieutenant. He doesn’t actually get serious about the role until after X-Rei visits Brannish, and by that point his dethronement from Jack is already imminent. So directly from Jack of Hearts, he gets to rise to King of Clovers. He really was a King of the people, and we see that in how people respond to his ascension to the role. So he gets to take the King role in the Clovers suite, finally leaving Hearts as he’s found his own motivation beyond Remi’s.

roland as adrion .. i think i might cry. it'd be a really interesting swap considering adrion's forgiving/subservient nature contrasting with roland's harsher, more bitter one. we've seen roland hold grudges before and that was only regarding terrence leaving them to fight on their own against a fakejoker, so itd be definitely different seeing his reaction to sera's whole incident[s].

evil rei oh my god *keels over and dies*. the idea of ice claws is so cool- especially since he's based on some cooler tones [teal hair, bluey grey x-static costume] it works as a good contrast to volcan's fire.

vaughn and keon switching makes a lot of sense too [since theyre both super shady]. i do agree that while having to swap abilities might be unfortunate, it's pretty pertinent to the plot so it makes sense!

im thinking, is it keene and doc who switch? or maybe doc and kayden. since keene isnt super plot relevant? originally i thought leilah, but im pretty sure she swapped with william :]

also! for some reason, the idea of elaine digging up dirt and isen totally at remi's whim is the funniest thing to me because it's so odd yet so already in character for them. i picture elaine to dig up dirt cause she likes making fun of people secretely [with cecile]-- elaine and cecile are unironically such a great duo in this though -v-

heyaaa, so sorry for the late reply spex :( yea i think roland would be a little harsher towards sera and would have a harder time forgiving her compared to adrion but i think they’d at least be on good terms (especially after the u-mart incident) before sera returns to wellston. he’d show his resentment way more when they were in new bostin though, with evie being the one to go easier on sera because she didn’t want to lose her first friend.

tbh i was thinking of doc and kayden but it can change anytime if a more suitable character appears. if they were to switch, i think kayden would be a newly graduated nurse and darren would be a chemist who’s been working with william in spectre for a long time. kayden has to get involved with spectre some way through william tho, so i think he’d be william’s student/mentee or something? i also thought about going with the original storyline and making them date but kayden and william’s age gap and jane’s role being so ambiguous make things complicated. i’d probably switch kayden and doc’s ages if i were to go with that but i think the first case with kayden being william’s student works kinda better?? i’m a little unsure about this part so i guess i’ll have a more clear idea about them as the story progresses. oh and keene’s swap is probably nadia :) (the lie detector lady)

heheh yes isen and elaine’s swap is so funny to me too. isen just does everything remi asks of him and tries to flirt with her whenever an opportunity arises but remi ignores his attempts completely. i always imagined that she’d ask for sera’s old records from isen because he’s very good at this stuff but wants elaine to question her (idk why i just want that interview scene between them!). but what you said makes so much sense too, considering elaine looks down upon people a lot so she’d probably secretly make fun of people. i think in both ways, that scene would be a good insight on elaine’s character, revealing her prejudiced side. and yea, i love the cecile-elaine duo a lot here, they’re a little less mischievous than blysen (mostly due to elaine’s calmer personality) but they still care about each other sm :>

After an incident where Isen was almost left without the ability to have children, Wellston's top students came up with an idea: to participate in a competition together. The winners of the competition would be rewarded with a handsome prize, and the losers would be punished. The rules were simple: first, having any sort of contact with with the other team was strictly forbidden; and second, crushes were not allowed.

John/Black was an imposter. One (1) impostor remains.   

The recently ejected person's best friend blandly stared at the screen. Once she had processed the words, her face contorted into an expression of anger and betrayal.    

Her shaking hand curled into a tight fist. She spent most of her time on the ship with the dark-haired male. They had been here for almost four days, and they had bonded; she felt deceived. Was he only using her as an alibi?   

Sure he hasn't killed her, but, he would've done it afterwards since it would only be a matter of time. There are no friendships in this game.   

She wanted to use her ability to turn back time and ask him. But, she shook her head with a weak laugh. "It isn't worth it," she whispered to herself.   

After Elaine did her best to console the upset short-haired girl, we all went our way. The mentioned two leaving with the company of each other. I felt horrible for her. It isn't every day that your new best friend turns out to be a murderer.   

I made my way to go to Admin with the guy in the yellow spacesuit, which I afterwards learned his name was Arlo, walking side-by-side. He wasn't very talkative was honestly quite distant and cold to everyone, but, I didn't want to wander alone, and that we both had a few tasks in Admin left for the day. We thought it would be convenient that we head there together. I will bet my life that he was safe; I watched him do the scanning task, and he hasn't done anything to be called "sus".   

I'm sure he was still sceptical of me since I had no assigned tasks to prove my innocence. Not that I need it to show that I am just a mere defenceless crewmate.   

We arrived at Admin quickly; it was near the cafeteria anyway. I jumped to do my work, and so did he.   

I kneeled onto the ground; the blonde-haired guy was still seen in my peripheral view. I pulled out my ID card. Taking some info from talking to the other crewmates, they complained about how hard the card swipe was. I didn't think it would be that difficult. I mean, how hard can it be?   

I unscrewed my helmet to make myself adjust to my comfort level, placing the headwear near me on the table. I started my job, readying the item needed.   

Swipe!  Too fast.   

Swipe! Too fast.    

Swipe! Bad read.    

Swipe! Too slow.     

Taking a quick break after two failed ones, I sighed and continued with a whine.   

Five attempts and the constant reminder of doing something wrong later, I was tired and annoyed with it. I slammed my fists on the hard metal surface which startled the boy who was performing his final task of the day.  

"What's wrong?" He asked as looked over at my work station to see me sitting on the ground, slumped over.  

"... I hate card swipe," I murmured.  

I heard the subtle sound of zapping before hearing metal come into loud contact with metal.  

"Get up."  

I felt the sudden grip on my right shoulder, "Hey, stand up."  

I looked up at him to see his sparkling blue eyes, taking notice that he had taken off his helmet too. His eyes are so pretty, I awwed. It was kinda stuffy in the suit, so I guess it was expected.  

I followed his command and grabbed my wrist with my fingers wrapped around the card, "here." He guided my hand to help me with my work.   

He coiled his hand around mine as I positioned the laminated piece of paper to do my thing. With one steady motion, the mission that took more than ten tries was completed.  

"There. It wasn't that hard, right?" I gave him a sarcastic look, though he just ignored it.

"That was your last task?" I hummed in agreement.   

We were caught off guard when the loud alarm rang through our ears, someone must've pushed the emergency meeting button. Without warning, I clutched his arm and set off to retreat back to the cafe, not wanting to be late. Arlo just quietly obeyed and sprinted with me.  

I notice a person dressed in an orange spacesuit standing near the table, the red button left uncovered. He must be the one we called a meeting, I thought.  

Soon the crewmates slowly arrived with their buddies and some alone. My eyes circled the room to see if everyone was present. Pink. Cyan. Red. Dark Blue. Green... Wait a sec, where's green?   

Speaking of the devil, she appears to be the last to arrive. No, I'm not gonna call her suspicious just cause she the last to enter the room. That's a dick move.  

"Who called the meeting?" Dark Blue, or Holden, spoke up.  

Orange, or Isen, help up their covered hand, "I did."  

"So, why?"   

The orange-haired boy sighs, "It's Green."  

Hearing their colour be brought up, Cecile glares at him in surprise. She seemed taken it back by his abrupt accusation, "excuse me...!?"  

"Tell me, what's your alibi then?" Orange was acting more persuasive than usual.  

The pink-eyed female growled at him, narrowing her eyes. A vibrant glint of pink visible from her irises, as if to indicate that she was powering up her ability. "I was at Med bay, doing my task like a responsible cremate should, unlike someone who's going around accusing people. What's your proof?" She looked somewhat agitated.  

Isen imitated the girl's action, his glare was prominent, and an orange hue was projecting from his eyes. Both leant near, looking like they had the intent to harm the other. If they didn't have the madness in their eye, I would've thought they were gonna kiss.  

Before the situation could escalate itself, a girl who was dressed in pink intruded and pushed them off of each other. "Getting angry and fighting won't resolve any of this!" She yelled.  

At first, I thought Isen was just nervous. I kept noticing how fidgety he was every time I encountered him, that was just a mere observation. That didn't really come across as unusual since everyone else was acting the same. Honestly, I was beginning to become sceptical of him despite that I've no proof of him doing anything strange.  

There's another impostor still on board? I thought. Could it be Orange...?   

As if he was speaking my mind, Arlo stabs an allegation at Isen. "Isen, why are you so eager to vote someone without any evidence? That's extremely shady. If I were to be the judge, I'd think you're an imposter or either siding with them."   

"Hey, man! He's not an imposter, he's been with Remi and I a lot of these days!" The redhead jumps to protect his friend.  

"So did John," Sera said.  

It didn't feel right to give more statements about what's happening since people were already arguing. Maybe being stuck in this ship with anyone being an alleged murderer was taking a toll on everyone's mentality. I yawned, I feel tired.  

"None of what you people are saying mean anything! None of us knows each other personally. Don't be fucking stupid! We're all just strangers! We can buddy up with someone, but we can't be sure that they're fully safe to be with!" She inhales, pausing, "Look at John, you think someone could've known that he was gonna be the imposter?!" Cecile stayed silent once she finished with her rant. We did similarly.  

"Let's just vote to skip for now."   

And that's what we did.  

This will only go two ways. Either with Arlo or with Isen. Btw, they’re all strangers here, if you haven’t caught on. They don’t know each other outside of this. This might get a part two if I become motivated enough to finish it:>

I’m a tad bit... behind

- I read elaine as claire lmaoo

- I guess that’s true. how’s remi supposed to keep a calm atmosphere if there’s tension between students outside the club?

- so the purple haired girl made a reappearance from an earlier chapter.

- also, I think remi’s correct in what she says. obviously everyone’s there to avoid the violence so contributing to it seems foolish.

- love how remi has to kick arlo because she’s too short to do anything else

- I think arlo’s passive allows him to not feel or not get hurt from the kick

- I don’t think it’s gonna change arlo’s opinion. his aunt is someone he really looks up to and he wants her approval over anyone else’s, so he’s probably gonna undo all his development :(

- arlo working alongside his aunt who most likely killed his predecessor and close friend kills me

- I honestly feel bad for remi. arlo’s stubborn and most likely won’t listen to her if it involves incriminating someone like his aunt.

- let’s break this down

        - terrence is surprisingly closer to sera now that she’s befriended evie and roland. this goes far beyond the theory of a “high-tier” fanboy. he know’s about seraphina’s suspension, he listed all her traits, and we see something that says recruit. I’m thinking this is about the superhero thing.

       - I find john’s description hilarious considering her was the one who initially looked up to superheroes and wanted to be one. what a twist.

       - yeahh, no surprise that arlo isn’t superhero material. our guy was literally brainwashed by the authorities from a young age and has actual FAITH in the system. even so, the traits listed are actually pretty good and as a leader, arlo’s actually really good.

       - remi our best girl vigilante 🥰. I assume terrence doesn’t know about the x-rei situation but if he did, he’d be recruiting remi even faster.

       - cecile is strong and smart but also very sneaky and manipulative. she’s also really selfish so she’s not really cut out to be a superhero, if that’s what terrence is looking for.

      - we’ve already seen vigilante blyke in action and if terrence finds out about that, he’s probably going to want to recruit him. blyke definitely seems more like the heroic type to me.

      - isen doesn’t strike me as a hero although that could change. he’s definitely smart and strong but he’s very weak willed and folds when it comes to power. I see him as more of a background hero, like the guy who supplies all the information and acts as backup

      - need I say more?

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I’m actually really upset that arlo let his aunt get to him and is no longer helping. I’m worried he’ll stop helping seraphina and isen with the whole EMBER investigation too

whoever terrence is or works for, I’m willing to bet that they’re recruiting heroes

is leilah and ZetaSci involved in this? and is NXgen connected too?
