^uh yeah, contrary to city folklore? Chickens don't just eat grain and veggies. They eat meat and protiens too (often small rodents like mice, rats or even cats and raccoons dumb enough to wander into their territory. Dead mammals that wander into coops looking for a free meal, that the flock killed and then started to eat; are an incredibly common find by their keepers) and yes, cannibalizing the unfertilized eggs is even more common a source of both protein and calcium.

It's so common in fact, that in order to deter chickens from cracking those eggs themselves and eating them raw: their humans will often take the cracked ones out asap and cook them (and breaking up the shell into tiny edible parts to cook that too: egg shells are mostly calcium) as part of their feed, to deter them from doing exactly that.

Humans have been trying, and learning for centuries to millennia how to train the ones they take in not to do that with raw, extra unfertilized eggs and get themselves sick or dead in the process of seeking out that protein rather than waiting for a rando source to come to them: providing them shelter, better over all health conditions and medication when they do, to get better: and yes in exchange.. we get the trade of those extra and healthier eggs that come from animals that are healthier as a result of that partnership.
