THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT CAJETAN Founder of the Theatine Fathers and Patron of Gamers Feast Day: August 7

This priest and founder is the one who solve all of your problems. This is Cajetan, nicknamed the 'Hunter of Souls', and is well-known as the patron saint of the unemployed, bankers, and gamers.

He was born Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene, in Vicenza, Veneto, Republic of Venice (now in Italy) on October 1, 1480, and is the son of Gaspar, lord of Thiene, and Mary Porta, persons of the first rank among the nobility of the territory of Vicenza in the Veneto region. When Cajetan was two, his father died. Quiet and retiring in nature, he was predisposed to piety by his mother.

Having obtained a doctorate in law and receiving a degree as doctor utriusque juris (both civil and canon law) from the University of Padua at the age of 24, and he spent two years as a senator in his hometown. In 1506, he worked as a diplomat for Pope Julius II, with whom he helped reconcile the Republic of Venice. But he was not ordained a priest until 1516. With the death of Pope Julius II in 1513, Cajetan withdrew from the papal court. Unsatisfied by that kind of life, he pursued his vocation in Rome, where he was ordained in 1516. Recalled to Vicenza by the death of his mother he founded in 1522 a hospital for incurables there. His interests were as much or more devoted to spiritual healing than the physical kind, and he joined a confraternity in Rome called the 'Oratory of Divine Love'.

A new congregation was canonically erected by Pope Clement VII in the year 1524. One of his four companions was Giovanni Pietro Carafa, the bishop of Chieti, elected first superior of the order, who later became pope as Paul IV. From the name of the city of Chieti (Theate in Latin), arose the name by which the order is known, the 'Theatines', commonly known as the Congregation of Clerics Regular.

They were committed to teach catechism, to assist the poor, and reform the clergy. They were known as Theatines in honor of the bishop of Chieti who joined them.

The order grew at a fairly slow pace: there were only twelve Theatines during the sack of Rome in 1527, during which Cajetan was tortured by the Spanish soldiers of Charles V who had mutinied, and they managed to escape to Venice, where they opened new houses. There Cajetan met Jerome Emiliani, whom he assisted in the establishment of his Congregation of Clerks Regular (Somascan Fathers). In 1533, he founded a house in Naples. The year 1540, found him in Venice again and from there he extended his work to Verona. He founded a bank to help the poor and offer an alternative to usurers (who charged high interest rates), and it later became the Banco di Napoli.

The reason why Cajetan is the patron of gamblers is this story. His connection to gambling is obscure. Popular lore says the people would ask him for a favor, and bet him a rosary that he couldn't come through. Since he always came through, he was able to get people to pray more.

Worn out by his restless apostolate, St. Cajetan died peacefully on August 7, 1547 at the age of 66. Advised by his physician not to lie in a hardboard but on a mattress, he replied: 'My Savior died on a cross, allow me at least to die on wood.'

Cajetan is beatified by Pope Urban VIII in 1629 and canonized by Pope Clement X in 1671. The Jesuit missionary, Eusebio Kino, who in 1691, established the mission San Cayetano de Tumacácori in honor of Cajetan. It is now Tumacacori National Historical Park in Arizona.

Carlo had a devotion to the poor and children. He was diagnosed with leukemia days before he died and offered his sufferings for the Pope and the Church.

shiori @shiorimakibawrites: shiori has blessed us with some of the best matt thoughts time and time again. like pasta, their name is so recognizable to me that i was genuinely shocked when they asked to join, but i'm so grateful they did!

bella @bellaxgiornata: you'll be sick of hearing this but i genuinely could not believe bella wanted to join the server. in my eyes, she is like the taylor swift of the daredevil fandom (and for clarity's sake, that is the highest compliment i can give). in the server she constantly has the best ideas and is always so supportive of everything we all write.

lindsay @shouldbestudying41: much like bella, this is someone who i very much look up to and respect in the daredevil community. having her in the server is a blessing and they are insanely good at time management- i'm incredibly amazed by their ability to juggle so much at one time!

The writers are really, really, really big on extreme virtue ethics where Marinette's actions are only good if her motivations are virtuous and, therefore, morally pure. The fact that Marinette wanted to take part in the competition to get close to Adrien is an impure motivation and therefore bad (this ignores the fact that Max's motivation wasn't exactly selfless. He wanted to be in the competition for selfish reasons, too, but Max isn't the main character so his motivations don't matter, I guess.)

Another example of this is Volpina where outing a liar is bad because Marinette is doing it for selfish reasons, ignoring the fact that Lila is very clearly causing harm through her lies. It's all quite bizarre and actually a great example of a common criticism of virtue ethics: it is possible to perform a right action without being virtuous and a virtuous person can occasionally perform the wrong action without that calling her virtue into question.

You can give a good lesson about the concept of selfish motivation blinding you to the nuances of a situation, but that's not what either of these are. Marinette is allowed to use her leet gaming skills to show off to the boy she likes even if it means that she dared to fairly beat another boy and Ladybug is allowed to confront a person using her name to manipulate people. In fact, I'd say that Ladybug's confrontation of Lila was straight up tame since it was mostly private while Lila's claim to BFF status was done on the Ladyblog. Ladybug would have been perfectly within her rights to have Alya post a follow-up video denouncing Lila.

Max literally had a HUD display for move inputs and still lost to Marinette who just knew her character better. Skill issue.

Also the fact that Adrien also beat Max far and square but the ire and “blame” was directed entirely at Marinette shows a very clear narrative bias lmao

Alphonse: 7/10 he's okay!

My dad would like him for how he shit talks and my mom would like how he sells candy. But my dad might ask how much he makes to see if he can support the both of us. Will not like to know that he was a ex con man also streamer-

Seth: 9/10 almost perfect!

My dad will see a lot of himself in him and my mom would fall for his southern manners. Might get asked of his previous jobs and both would not like how he got locked up. But will win back points if he said he took the fall from Alphonse.

Charlie: 6/10 sadly.

This is bc my dad would make fun of him and bully him a bit. My mom would try and feed him some more. Also the pizza place job might make them be eh to him along with being a ex dealer and con man. But if they knew him when younger like in canon the score would probably be 1 more higher.

Finn: 10/10 perfect score.

My dad would make fun of him for being shy but my mom would love talking to him. My dad's mom's favorite flower were Sunflower and would love that nickname for me that Finn calls his partner. If he brings flowers my mom would love him and if it's Sunflowers my dad will cry. They would love how gentle he is bc I'm a bit bitchy and he would reel me I'm.

Faust: 5/10 he's a 50/50 shot

Only bc he'd probably start shit with my dad. My mom would love his outfits and chat to him about that. But other than that they wouldn't know how to talk to him. They would like how he's a gamer! Might even ask what games he plays. His score goes up if he says he has money. (Stability is romantic /ref)

Auron: 10/10 perfect catch!

He's rich, has manners, and a go getter. My dad would respect him and my mom would love how perfect he is! If Auron ever does tell them about his other job my dad would try and threaten him. But my mom would freak out with me dating a CEO. Honestly probably the best option out of all if he was real!

Lucien: 4/10- depending how he speaks will go negative....

Only bc he doesn't have a job so KY dad would think he was a bum. My mom would probably like to try his cooking! If he tells them he's a demon his points would go negative. Since we're catholic- and my dad would freak tf out. My mom would cuss me out for somehow summoning a demon.

Jack: 9/10 almost a perfect 10!

Since he comes from a semi rich family and does a lot of side jobs too! My dad would respect him for being go getter and not wanting things handed to him. My mom would ask what he's majoring in college! He's very plain and THE white boy so KY dad would poke fun at him for that. But my mom would love to listen to him talk about the beach!

Maleghast features six playable "houses," or disciplines of necromancy, which determine what tools your necromancer has in their nasty selection of dead things. For the first in the list, we have:

C.A.R.C.A.S.S.

"A horde of skeletons walks into a military surplus store" is about the best description I can come up with. CARCASS operatives decided that the usual goth style is for pansies, and they'd rather be cosplaying spec ops. It's also fully canon that John Carcass, proprietor of CARCASS, was recently outed on Necrotwitter for saying homophobic slurs in a Call of Duty lobby,* a tendency which he claims does NOT extend to his bone soldiers.

Making extensive use of bones, guns, kevlar, bones and hot-pink spray paint, CARCASS units have wonderful tactics like "Regurgitate Ammo," "Transform to Gun," and the "Catechism Devil Cannon."

Thanks to their Formation special rule, all CARCASS units gain advantage on attack rolls while adjacent to an ally. Given the size of Maleghast boards and the backline playstyle of CARCASS overall, you're essentially *always* rolling two dice to hit unless something has gone terribly wrong.

Their other ability, Reload, helps balance out some of their toughness, at least in theory: Certain abilities can only be used once before they must be "reloaded" by sacrificing a MOVE. Therein lies the problem: Maleghast is a small-scale skirmish game. Things that need to die (a second time) will usually get focused down in Round 1, and CARCASS units often dislike movement anyway. With careful strategy, you may find Reloading unnecessary, depending on what units you're taking.

Lastly, they've got Headshot, which is a fancy way of saying they have rider effects when they roll a 6 to hit. You will remember, of course, that they usually roll an extra die to hit. As a CARCASS operative, you're going to perform ludicrous numbers of headshots, sometimes on things that don't even have heads. Cue 2013 MLG pro gamer montage with the air horn.

PROS:

+ Highly versatile units with good damage potential and strong range

+ Cool militarized aesthetic, skellies with guns

+ Access to the Catechism Devil Cannon, a weapon which I'm assuming fires the superheated essence of catholic guilt

CONS:

- Largely immobile; some units will spend the whole game standing still

- Others will assume you support John Carcass after his untoward statements online*

With solid support options and the attack profiles you'd expect from the only range-focused faction in the game, a CARCASS group can lock down the board and put a serious dent in any enemy horde. Just try to focus on positioning -- you'll need to pay closer attention to that than your opponent will!
