Okay here is my actual real heresy take: I think Jesus decides when he wants to be in the Host of communion and sometimes he just ain’t there. He sees our hearts and how we’ve served him in thought/word/deed, what has been done and left undone, and if he sees that we have been good and/or actually repent of our sins that Sunday, he decides whether or not we are allowed to eat him. Some Sundays he is there and we go into a little frenzy about it. Sometimes he’s not and it’s a reminder that we have to be on our best behavior for his reward. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t with us in other ways.
@heresylog how excommunicated would I be for this one

sooooooooo
yesterday I went to the mass again, like I have been doing every sunday. I was with my boyfriend and we were asked if we could help
I FREAKED OUT
We took the offertory to the priest and in the end I was literally shaking. I had to hold my tears and tell my boyfriend I was fine. I kind of was, but at the same time I was having a terrible time.
btw yesterday I prayed my first hail mary. In the midst of all of this you guys can imagine that me, with my protestant background, has never been so nervous. I felt like I could do it since I really feel like now I understand the saints intercession and theres no wrong in asking for Mary's intercession too
I am afraid and nervous. Its the "if I'm wrong I'm sinning so hard" that gets me and makes me feel desperate.
I don't know who I am anymore :(

As a it's not complicated Catholic; the idea that the Jewish people killed Jesus goes against Vatican 2 and have been frowned upon since the council of Trent. It's basically heresy.
a reminder that “holy week/easter” is coming up this week.
good friday” is this friday and easter is the following sunday, so we are likely to see an uptick in antisemitism, particularly tropes around deicide and blood libel. if you see this, call it out.
if you are jewish, please look after yourself. avoid the internet if you can, engage in some self care, connect with your jewish community.
if you are not jewish, particularly if you are christian or raised christian or live in a dominantly christian society, you need to be aware of the history of antisemitism and antisemitic violence surrounding the easter season and the ways it manifests today. you should be actively working to uncover the antisemitism you have absorbed throughout your life and actively encouraging others to do the same.

I was listening to a song from an anime I like while reading chapter 2 again and it reminds me of the show a bit (it’s called Hell girl if you want to check it out) but one part at the beginning caught my attention the mention of yuzuha and Hakkai when she received beatings does that mean they’re friends with reader or are they friends with her brother?
Ohh Hell girl! I will definitely watch it if I can! If it has a manga, I'd read that since I have more time to read it.
As for reader being friends with Yuzuha or Hakkai? Yuzuha and reader were a little bit close and Hakkai followed along with Yuzuha, despite being too nervous to talk to reader and reader was too nervous to talk to Hakkai. What happened that day of the cathecism test results was reader was scared of telling her father she failed and Yuzuha comforted her by telling her that she'd follow her to break the news and Hakkai decided to follow you as well.
They regretted telling her to do so because they just froze while reader got her ass beat, being victims themselves. It really strained whatever closeness they had with each other.

funny how some schools and teachers go "you must despise the faith you grew up with (Christianity) or you're a filth to humanity" and like. Bro. I don't like Christianity either but that's my personal choice. Respect much?
Even funnier since they don't do this to muslims or jewish people.
They sound just as indictrinating as medieval cathecism or whatever it was called. Perheaps we should just call it reverse forced conversion just because
Weird how all the actual systemic oppression goes one way, and yet we're still supposed to pretend that the "prejudice plus power" nonsense only applies the ones being oppressed.

I know that the kr community is still heavily involved in church (both prot and catholic), like it's such an important part of the culture and identity of our community but I realized how poorly cathecized most of them are... from the things I hear they treat church more like some kind of a social club and it's actually sad.

its 2am and i just realized my one highschool theology prof broke protocol in regards to how lgbt people are seen in the church and he didn't teach the actual cathecism we were supposed to follow. i mean it wasn't better-better, but it is a bit of an improvement on the "you're sick, vatican ii said so", because he was citing the 60s-70s belief, but that teaching was then changed after Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger came back with the term "disordered". Then again, he did get mad when someone did their presentation on AIDs and he admitted to liking men once and then never again (he has a wife). Still probably the third worst theology class ive been in in terms of how close i got to having a mental breakdown, but whatever. I still got taught the "disordered" thing years later, but I guess I bought some time.

now that the dumb tv show is gaining so much popularity I'm regaining long repressed memories of how much I hate the summer I turned pretty trilogy. truly a bigger waste of pages than my cathecism bible. worst protagonist ever, I would pay to kill this girl in cold blood. just thinking about those books makes me seethe with rage. I hate them so much! I don't truly hate many things but the summer I turned pretty trilogy is one of them

We can't control what each individual person believes, but the Church doesn't view or treat marriage as you said, op.
Currently I am reading a book on Sacraments, and it goes on to explain each one. Here are some things the author has to say:
"One could even say that the man and the woman in their unity are a true image of God; the covenant between God and people is introduced in their marital covenant; a new life is born out of their relationship; to them is entrusted the care and the responsibility for the life of all other creatures."
"[...] the lines of a God who creates, as well as a God who saves, are mirrored and reflected in birthing and raising children."
"He (Christ) renews the marriage and family to the image of the Holy Trinity, a mystery out of which comes every true love so they would be a living and visible proof of God's divinity in the world."
"Humanity is united in spouses and marriage is a part, an expression, a symbol and a real core unity of humanity as a center of God's creation."
"Mutual giving is the only path that brings married couples to holiness. In that aspect the sexual acts, lived in love and consecrated in the sacrament, for married couples is a path of growth in life of charity. "
From the Cathecism of the Catholic Church:
"Sexuality is directed towards marital love between man and woman. In marriage the physical intimacy between spouses becomes a sign and a pledge of spiritual unity." (CCC 2360)
"Sexuality [...], through which man and woman give themselves to one another through acts inherent and exclusive to spouses, is not something purely biological, but it cuts to the very core of a human person as such. It is truly realized in a human way only if it's an integral part of love in which the husband and the wife completely bind themselves to one another all the way until death." (CCC 2361)
There's plenty more in the Cathecism, but just like there are rich Catholics who don't feed the hungry and clothe the naked if it's not posted on social media, there are Catholics who view marriage as a door to not live in mortal sin. St. Paul said it's better to marry if you can't control your passions, though, so if two people agree to that, and vow before God to live a life of unity and charity, I don't think that's wrong.
We forget that each person is just a person, and that it is not the true reflection of the Church and what it teaches and stands for. Marriage is a sacred unity between a man and a woman centered in Christ. A devout Catholic won't marry just for pleasure, though.
My husband is my best friend and I married him because I love him to death, and also because I knew we can build a family together, if God wills it, and he would be a good father and take care of his family. There was a strain on our relationship and us as individuals that there were boundaries that we just couldn't cross, so yeah, it felt great knowing we can be physical and relax.
I know of protestants who married just to be married, and who are endlessly wanting a spouse, no matter who it is. Protestants who refuse to even place a small kiss on a girl's/guy's cheek for the sake of purity. This kind of thinking and behavior isn't exclusive to Catholics. But it's better to marry than to fall a slave to your passions, if you really struggle with it. Enjoying yourself in that way within the bounds of marriage is a-okay.
I, as a Catholic, enjoy many worldly things, much more than I did as a protestant - including music - but I don't cross a boundary into the lands where God and all He created/established on earth is disrespected. Indulgence doesn't have to be sinful, but we should be careful.
It doesn't sit well with me that Catholics treat marriage like it's this imperfect state that is tolerated merely because it keeps a person from mortal sin. And treat sex like it's dirty, profane, and shameful.
I think marriage is sacred and perfect in its own right, and not because it's the thing you must resort to because you weren't called to religious life.
I think sex is sacred. We are not puritans. God made so many beautiful and wonderful things on the earth for us to enjoy - music, food, sex, art. He didn't have to create a reality where we need pleasure and beauty. But He did! And I'm tired of Catholics acting like it's evil to enjoy yourself!

“Portrait of a mother” Still life 3/3 . My mother came to me at a time when it was clear that her mother would have not much longer to live. For this story it is important to tell that my grandmother kept living in the house my mum grew up in, a house that was hardly affected by time over all these years. The painting of the ducklings still on the wall, the silver manicure set on the dressoir. The bread was stil sliced with the knife my grandfather had used since before the war and on Sundays the soup was still presented in the porcelain tureen. At one point my mother asked herself what would be nice to inherit, what item brought her the fondest memories? That said, with over 10 brothers and sisters chances are one might want the same.. So my mother asked me, after seeing a still life I made for friends, to capture them all.. She went to her parental house and took with her the small wooden bowl which used to keep the sugared fruits, the catechism used so very often when she was young and that silver manicure set they were only allowed to ‘play’ with when they were sick.. Her father had a textile shop with a large Au de Cologne dispenser, so that one had to come, with a bottle of 4711.. hardest thing was to find the sugared fruits! To personalise the photo I asked which soup she remembered best: cauliflower with nutmeg. (Me at the greengrocer: “Please, what is your prettiest cauliflower?”) The next day all items were returned and a little while later “Portrait of a mother” was installed in my parents house (swipe). When the time came to divide all these lovely items my mum could easily say that I wouldn’t matter which item she would get, since she had them all. . Random stuff from when I had catechism
I have to be honest, I only took those classes cause I was brought up catholic, cause I geninuely didn’t like them and the teacher later turned out to be a major asshole.
- Teacher was talking about how catholics do not believe in reincarnation and I was very confused cause, even though I was like 8 or something, I believed (and still do) in reicarnation, mainly due to a novela that I had seen that invovled that
- Teacher said that animals don’t go to heaven and my heart broke that day. You have no idea how fucking happy I was when the Pope said that animals do, in fact, go to heaven
- One time the teacher was talking about 4 specific angels and he said “The angels were: Gabriel, Rafael, Daniel and-” when a student interrupted him and said “I’m the last angel”. To which the teacher replied “You really don’t wanna be cause that’s Lucifer”
- There was this day in which I ws sitting next to the window, and it had just rained so I kept looking at that, not paying attention when the teacher goes “Brenda, what is the passion of christ” and without a beat I say “ The play?”. To my luck he just laughed it off
- The only other time the teacher ackoledge my existence was when I won a kitkat for getting a question right. And i didn’t even eat the kitkat.
- My dad’s name is Abel and I didn’t know the story of the Bible before going to those classes. You bet how I was when I discovered what happened
- The first time we had this big mass involving everybody, I was randomly chosen to read a part of the Bible. For some reason, I kept being chosen again and again, and on our last day they said that everybody who was going to read needed to sit on the front. This ended up with me sitting in front of the incense, and boy did that smell horribly
- I didn’t know the Pai Nosso when I started the classes, and by the end of it I still didn’t know the Pai Nosso
- I don’t know what sort of cruel joke the heavens laid on me, but whenever we had to go on a trip, it was always the weekends I was on my period.
- I’ll never forget how the teacher was telling us that you can only take first communion if you are already baptized. The funny thing is there were a pair of siblings in that class that scheduled they baptize a day AFTER the first communion
- I did not pay attention during first communion ceremony cause the boy sitting next to me kept making jokes. Years later, we would do teather together
- The teacher said we should read the Bible, so I read it. The Turma da Monica version, but still
It’s funny how in my household we went from all of us being catholic to my brother being an atheist, my mom a espírita, and neither my dad and I consider ourselves catholic (in my case, I think I’m agnostic)
