I know that the kr community is still heavily involved in church (both prot and catholic), like it's such an important part of the culture and identity of our community but I realized how poorly cathecized most of them are... from the things I hear they treat church more like some kind of a social club and it's actually sad.

We can't control what each individual person believes, but the Church doesn't view or treat marriage as you said, op.
Currently I am reading a book on Sacraments, and it goes on to explain each one. Here are some things the author has to say:
"One could even say that the man and the woman in their unity are a true image of God; the covenant between God and people is introduced in their marital covenant; a new life is born out of their relationship; to them is entrusted the care and the responsibility for the life of all other creatures."
"[...] the lines of a God who creates, as well as a God who saves, are mirrored and reflected in birthing and raising children."
"He (Christ) renews the marriage and family to the image of the Holy Trinity, a mystery out of which comes every true love so they would be a living and visible proof of God's divinity in the world."
"Humanity is united in spouses and marriage is a part, an expression, a symbol and a real core unity of humanity as a center of God's creation."
"Mutual giving is the only path that brings married couples to holiness. In that aspect the sexual acts, lived in love and consecrated in the sacrament, for married couples is a path of growth in life of charity. "
From the Cathecism of the Catholic Church:
"Sexuality is directed towards marital love between man and woman. In marriage the physical intimacy between spouses becomes a sign and a pledge of spiritual unity." (CCC 2360)
"Sexuality [...], through which man and woman give themselves to one another through acts inherent and exclusive to spouses, is not something purely biological, but it cuts to the very core of a human person as such. It is truly realized in a human way only if it's an integral part of love in which the husband and the wife completely bind themselves to one another all the way until death." (CCC 2361)
There's plenty more in the Cathecism, but just like there are rich Catholics who don't feed the hungry and clothe the naked if it's not posted on social media, there are Catholics who view marriage as a door to not live in mortal sin. St. Paul said it's better to marry if you can't control your passions, though, so if two people agree to that, and vow before God to live a life of unity and charity, I don't think that's wrong.
We forget that each person is just a person, and that it is not the true reflection of the Church and what it teaches and stands for. Marriage is a sacred unity between a man and a woman centered in Christ. A devout Catholic won't marry just for pleasure, though.
My husband is my best friend and I married him because I love him to death, and also because I knew we can build a family together, if God wills it, and he would be a good father and take care of his family. There was a strain on our relationship and us as individuals that there were boundaries that we just couldn't cross, so yeah, it felt great knowing we can be physical and relax.
I know of protestants who married just to be married, and who are endlessly wanting a spouse, no matter who it is. Protestants who refuse to even place a small kiss on a girl's/guy's cheek for the sake of purity. This kind of thinking and behavior isn't exclusive to Catholics. But it's better to marry than to fall a slave to your passions, if you really struggle with it. Enjoying yourself in that way within the bounds of marriage is a-okay.
I, as a Catholic, enjoy many worldly things, much more than I did as a protestant - including music - but I don't cross a boundary into the lands where God and all He created/established on earth is disrespected. Indulgence doesn't have to be sinful, but we should be careful.
It doesn't sit well with me that Catholics treat marriage like it's this imperfect state that is tolerated merely because it keeps a person from mortal sin. And treat sex like it's dirty, profane, and shameful.
I think marriage is sacred and perfect in its own right, and not because it's the thing you must resort to because you weren't called to religious life.
I think sex is sacred. We are not puritans. God made so many beautiful and wonderful things on the earth for us to enjoy - music, food, sex, art. He didn't have to create a reality where we need pleasure and beauty. But He did! And I'm tired of Catholics acting like it's evil to enjoy yourself!

TODAY I almost went to the church and talked to the priest about cathecism. Really. Thinking more about it, this may be the reason why today I felt like all of my strength was taken away and replaced with the worst depressive moment I had in weeks.
Tomorrow I'll probably do it. Catholics, wait for me. It is now or never (more probably never? I DON'T KNOW)

I would love to hear more about what’s so special about cherubim/the hierarchy of angels, as someone who grew up Protestant Christian (yes this is about the Jack Eichel tattoo post)
oh boy here it goes. so forewarning that it's been a little while since i Really read up on this stuff, so some of my knowledge is fuzzy & supplemented by wiki, googling, and discussion with o (the person in the screenshots who i was screaming over this with, b/c she is my buddy who screams with me about cross-textual interpretations of hockey with art, the classics, literature, & religions. she also lets me yell about race dynamics and socialism + organizational/corporate structure through the lens of hockey. we have fun lmao). other big caveat: i'm explaining things mostly from the perspective of a believer, which i am not anymore. but i like to play in the sandbox of catholic theology & the cathecism b/c if i've gotta live with that religious trauma and juggle the contradiction of cultural religious artifacts vs living colonialism for the rest of my life, then i think i get to play with the funky little brain worms it gave me.
so first order of business -- as far as i'm aware it's taken less seriously in most protestant christian denominations than in catholicism & orthodox denominations, but we've gotta define an angel. angels are not human. they've never been human. they never can be human. they are supernatural beings, created purely by g-d*, and whose purpose is to serve g-d directly. in contrast, humans are g-d's creations but were given free will by his love. saints are humans who were elevated to the status of direct communication to g-d but are not imbued with the unlimited power of angels. and then there are some cases in which the archangels like gabriel and michael are also simultaneously saints, bc their interaction with humans is so central to their purpose that they become nearly human. in some sects, satan/lucifer was an archangel, prior to the fall; in some, he's just a regular angel, no special class or order; and in others he's a cherubim, which i will get back around to, but it works to introduce the concept here.
so, re:Jack it's notable that he got neither the Mother (virgin, mary, etc names) nor any saints as i first guessed. the Mother is perhaps the most universally revered saint/figure worldwide for all catholics. my understanding is she is also quite revered in orthodox traditions, but i'm not as versed there, and from here forward i'm going to address specifically catholicism b/c that's my experience & knowledge + that's what relates to jack. i'd put getting a tattoo of the Mother as pretty high up there for catholic tattoos (the catholic church does not have an official stance on tattooing, compared to other denominations, & largely b/c the permissiveness of tattooing alongside other localizations of catholicism helped it spread easier & keep deeper roots in its colonized cultures; again, i am an american viet catholic & i delicately balance viet-localized parts of catholicism as a familial cultural practice in my personal identity, while not actually being religious). i have also heavily considered getting a tattoo of the Mother, partially bc i find the genre of religious dedication folk art very beautiful and partially bc i think getting a religious tattoo would get my mother to be more permissive of my attempts to be a walking scribble book.
Anyway -- right after Mother tattoos, the next most common is getting a tattoo of common/popular saints and/or one's patron saint. when catholics go through the rite of Confirmation into the church, which recognizes an individual as an 'adult' in the church (age varies by local parishes or overlap with culture; my parents said in viet nam they were confirmed at age 16. growing up in oklahoma where the age of consent is 14 & i went to a primarily white anglo parish, i was confirmed at age 14. my friends who went to the viet parish were confirmed at age 15. my friends who went to mexican parishes were confirmed at age 15 & sometimes did cross-ceremonies with their quinceaneras), part of the confirmation process includes selecting a patron saint. when children are baptized into the catholic church (usually as infants), their parents will choose a patron saint for them, usually one of the common ones (st francis, who guides the lost; st patrick, who wards off evil; st gabriel the archangel, the messenger; mother/virgin mary, mother of all) or they'll 'inherit' the patron saint of their parents or godparents. some people choose to keep that saint when they confirm, but many choose their own (admittedly, often partially b/c a lot of ppl forget or are never told the saint they were given at baptism). in the catholic church, you are then known by your given name with your patron saint following like a title (quelle surprise, i was one of those kids who took it Very seriously and researched for weeks to choose my saint. officially, my christian name is aily, st dymphna of gheel. she's a martyr who is the patron of mental illness, amongst many other things. i chose her after i was first diagnosed with depression as a teenager.) saints matter b/c they're our communicators to god; think of them like a legislative representative.
ok, so basically what i'm saying is: if jack is presumably at least religious enough to get a tattoo with heavy religious iconography (and 'religious enough' is perhaps a bad attempt at measurement, b/c religiousness is a very weird amorphous spectrum which means we just Don't Know unless we talk to a person directly and hash out their philosophies), then he would presumably be religious enough to kinda give a fuck about his saints or the Mother or other figures of common revere. so it's not just that he chose not to get a common catholic tattoo. it's that he chose Specifically to get something different but also pretty immense in its catholic iconography.
okie dokie, Now it is time to get into the specifics of the cherubim and bring back a couple things i mentioned earlier: so. again. cherubim are Angels, not saints, not spirits, not ever have been human. they are in the first sphere or order of angels, meaning the ones closest to g-d; they are the second tier/rank of that order. this is notable for jack primarily bc it's a 'motif' of his Narrative to be second. it's like a nod to being Good, being so close to g-d, but not being the closest. good enough to be a beloved & regular servant of g-d (hockey) but not quite enough for recognition. it's not a seraphim, the highest rank in the first order, who maintain the holy order of the universe and have the greatest scope of divine knowledge. it's also not an archangel, who are closest to human and in that way depicted as most beloved by god (note how they have names, unlike the scores of other angels) and who are given divine missions imparted from divine knowledge. the archangels are beloved most by g-d of the orders of angels and they are also understood and revered most by humans, g-d's most beloved creations.
in The Narrative, jack is not those who maintain the divine (the seraphim, hockey legends like gretzky, orr, howe), and he's not those who enact g-d's divine mission (the archangels, current stars or fan favorites like crosby, ovechkin, mcdavid), yet he's also not a common angel who exists only as an embodiment to praise g-d ('average' players). he's a cherubim, close to the divine, allowed to attend to the divine (allowed to make hockey 'better') but not given the divine knowledge or a divine mission (not a legend, not a fan favorite, not someone hockey as an institution looks to as a messenger of the gospel). and i get that that sounds very dramatic and severe -- jack Is a very well-known player who only dedicated haters truly believe isn't 'good enough' and the league does like to use his likeness to drum up attention, to some degree. but it's worth remembering that his choice to ransom his own career for medical autonomy (and i genuinely have refused to stop describing it in any other way, bc that is what happened, no matter how we can try to sanitize it) has actually made him into a wildcard that the league does not like dealing without a lot of whitewashing. he didn't make it easier for himself in the long-run by choosing to speak out about his health and decisions like he did. it's a virtue of how good a hockey player he is and how much the league wants to profit off of him that kept his career and story from being buried.
going back to the cherubim of it all -- it's also a little funny when you go into the classical uses of cherubim. the cherubim as depicted in jack's tattoo is a very old style of depicting them, or i guess more fundamentalist/traditionalist. cherubim as they have been popularly depicted, thanks to the overlap of greco-roman art traditions, are what people also colloquially call 'cupids' (in art and the classics, they're referred to by their italian name putti plural or putto singular). they're fat babies with wings. because of the blended cherub-cupid depictions, they've also taken on cupid-like qualities in folk tradition. they're mischievous, playful, and omni-present. in classical art, they're dropped everywhere like little easter eggs, as a reminder of g-d's omnipresence & the plurality of his power. so, it's a little hilarious that jack's tattoo is accidentally and extra-textually winking and nudging at the cheekier parts of his personality, while still acknowledging that he's part of the plurality. again, he's not a seraph, he's not an archangel; instead, in his narrative, he's one small representative, good enough to get close, not good enough to be recognized.
and then of course, there's the even funnier potential meta where, by some sects of catholicism (most notably st thomas aquinas), lucifer himself was a cherub; an angel who was close enough to be a good servant but not close enough to have power and not beloved enough to be near g-d's most beloved, which is how he became enraged enough to attempt to strike against g-d, to fight over creation, to be struck from heaven and more importantly away from the holy presence. lucifer chose a path, lucifer as an angel, a creation of g-d whose sole purpose is to serve and who was never meant to have autonomy, made a choice that was not about/for/in spirit of g-d. and for that he was punished and taken away from all redemption, bc redemption is not an option for angels. they are not humans, they can't be forgiven. no, i am not going further on hitting this nail on the head for how this could feed into the meta of jack's narrative. i think this stands on its own.
and that, friends, is the expanded screeching of why jack's tattoo entirely set me & o off. i'm sure o also has additional notes or clarification. @drartemysia feel free to add on :)
*i'm using 'g-d' in reference to the name of the higher being. for some, it is sacrilegious or even a sin to use/see the 'name' with intent of direct reference to the higher being without censoring. it's a practice across different abrahamic traditions with different levels of seriousness and can be heavily contextual. i tend to censor when actually directly referencing, versus say when i say 'god' as an exclamation or goddamn as a curse, which admittedly is also sacrilegious depending on personal interpretations (taking g-d's name in vain, etc etc). i make the distinction also bc i prefer to use capitalization for emphasis rather than for grammar or titles, so distinguishing the use as proper name vs colloquial expression helps me stay on track of my own train of thought.

Please fellow Catholics, can you guys help me with something? I’m starting to question my faith in the Catholic Church. I went to visit a new parish today, and I didn’t like the one I visited before, because they clapped hands and were very irreverent imo, then I went to this new one… Just to be double disappointed. They do the same thing in this one… and it’s not only that, it’s everything. It’s like I know what Catholicism is, but when I get in the real world, I can’t find it around me.
Yeah, they have the Eucharist, but how can a church have such a crowd of people who dress like they are going to a party instead of receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ? Where’s the respect? Is that what the “cathecism” inspired by the Holy Spirit does with people? They don’t learn anything? There was even a couple there hugging each other in an intimate way in the middle of the mass, and the worse part is they won’t be called out by anybody!! I don’t feel instigated to be any better in such environment, I feel enraged. Is this the fruit of the Holy Spirit? All those “innovations” in the Catholic Church that allows people to behave like worldly people, even though they receive communion every time? What’s happening? Something is not… Right.
Even in some sects in the Protestant side are more reverent (and they don’t receive the Eucharist!!!) and I can truly see the Holy Spirit in them. The way they dress and behave, their whole culture, the way their children behave… So is it fair to say they are wrong and heretics when their life show much more piety and holiness more than half of all Catholics together?
I know the Catholic Church is the right one… In the paper maybe… But I want to see it with my eyes, too. I want to experience it. I keep studying and studying and seeing pro catholic arguments, but I feel like I left Protestantism for Catholicism just to feel lost, because I know the fully potential of Catholicism, but I can’t see it around me.

Actually, the need for Church meetings is literally in the Bible. Hebrews 10:23-25 (KJV, emphasis mine):
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
And if you want a quote about Eucharist, how about 1 Cor 11:20-22?
When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
Paul scolds the Corintians for not taking the Lord's supper together. It's fairly easy to read between the lines that Communion was an expected part of Church meetings.
No need to quote Catholic Cathecisms - an obligation for regular Church meetings with Mass/Eucharist/the Lord's supper/Communion/whatever-you-want-to-call-it is in the Bible! Literally. It might not be explicit in the Ten Commandments, but it is spelled out in the New Testament.
I'm arguing with some catholic girl on tiktok (yes i know, first mistake) and she just told me that "going to church on sundays" is literally in the 10 commandments. Baffled actually.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐱 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐨
Tumblr media
Introduction Felix Ysagun Manalo, commonly known as Ka Felix, was the founder and first Executive Minister of Iglesia ni Cristo (born Félix Manalo y Ysagun; May 10, 1886 – April 12, 1963). Manalo is regarded as a prophet and God's final messenger by his followers.
He is the father of Eraño G. Manalo, who succeeded him as Executive Minister of the INC, and the grandfather of Eduardo V. Manalo, the current Executive Minister of Iglesia ni Cristo.
Childhood He was forced to attend public school in Santa Ana, Taguig, when he was seven years old, in 1893. Maestro Cario was the name of his old teacher, Macario Ocampo. In a caton class, he learned basic literacy and the fundamentals of the Catholic faith (cathecism class). In Laguna de Bay, he worked as a fisherman alongside his father. With his cousin, Modesto Ysagun, he worked as a carabao (water buffalo) herd boy. They were able to catch field mice whose meat was nutritious. In a competition to see who could stay the longest barefooted on an anthill crawling with maddened red ants, he beat out many other guys. In 1896, during the Philippine Revolution against Spain, his father died, leaving him and his younger sister, Praxedes in the care of their mother.
Tumblr media
As a Roman Catholic Felix and his cousin were adopted in an urban parish house in Sampaloc, Manila, by their uncle Mariano Borja, a Catholic priest, in 1899. The priest, a fan of fighting cocks, not only fed and housed them, but also told them stories about great men, which undoubtedly spurred the two little lads to weave dreams. Among other things, they assisted in the lighting of the candles. Felix discovered a Bible left on a church bench in that parish, which he began to read. He was harshly chastised for studying the Bible alone.
Founding the Iglesia Ni Cristo He sequestered himself in his friends' house, Eusebio Sunga, in Pasay, in November 1913, with religious literature and unused notebooks, telling everyone in the house not to disturb him. He went two days and three nights without eating or drinking. He emerged from his solitary confinement with his newfound beliefs.
During World War II Germany launched an unexpected invasion on Poland on September 1, 1939, in violation of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles, which marked the start of World War II. The Japanese Imperial Army conducted a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941, followed by an attack on the Philippine Islands the next day. During the Japanese rule of the Philippines, he continued to host worship services, missionary operations, and respond to the spiritual needs of its members. Soldiers from the Imperial Japanese Army disrupted a service in Tayuman, Santa Cruz, Manila, but were unable to prevent him from officiating. He eventually became an information officer for the resistance organization, providing them with money, food, and clothing.
Tumblr media
Prudencio Vasquez presided over INC at the Japanese headquarters on June 29, 1942. Previously, "Evangelical Mission" was referred to as "Evangelical Rally. "Females sat on the left side of the church during worship sessions in the early years, while males sat on the right side.During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese kidnapped FYM and demanded that he reign over all religions in the country or be the sole pastor of the many churches in order to control religions in the Philippines, but he refused. The ministers are killed or massacred while they are in their “klase” or meeting classes, the ministers who hold the bible was chased by the japanese and suspected that they were enemies, they were forced to dig and in that place they are killed.
After World War II On 15 August 1945, the Japanese Imperial Army withdrew its forces from Asia that marked the end of Second World War. He dispatched evangelistic workers to the Bicol region in 1947. At the age of 22, Eraño G. Manalo was ordained as a minister on May 10, 1947. In 1948, the church began construction on its central office and the Executive Minister's official residence on Riverside Street in San Juan, Rizal. Architect Juan Nakpil created the magnificent complex. Meanwhile, the Huks attempted but failed to assassinate Manalo once more. The first concrete church was constructed in Washington, Sampaloc, Manila, in 1948. January 1953 he summoned all division ministers and senior officials of the church after their regular ministerial meeting to a special conference. He announced that when his time comes, there must be someone to take his place. At 2 p.m, the meeting proceeded with himself presiding. The voting was held: Eraño G. Manalo, Isaias Samson and Isaias Reyes were nominated. Samson obtained two votes, while Eraño obtained all of the remaining votes and was proclaimed as the future Executive Minister. The body then elected Eraño’s would-be assistants: Teofilo C. Ramos and Cipriano Sandoval.By 1954, membership grew to 200,000.
Death of Felix Y. Manalo On February 1963, Felix fell very ill. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Veteran Memorial Hospital in Quezon City where doctors decided to immediately remove an intestinal obstruction. He rejected the surgery. On 21st March 1963, he became completely incapacitated and was transferred to Veterans Memorial Hospital. Doctors operated on him but failed to give him relief from pain.On 2nd April 1963, he was confined to treat his intestines which had burst and hemorrhaged. He had stomach ulcers which brought him constant pain that even medication did not help. On 11th April, doctors performed the third and last surgery on him.On 12th April 1963 at 2:35 a.m, at the age of 76, Felix Ysagun Manalo breathe his last. Many members mourned his death at the San Juan Chapel. The body was transferred to the new cathedral-chapel in San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City. On 23rd April 1963, according to his will, his body was interred in the pagoda housing his office and private study below the Executive Minister’s residence in San Juan, Rizal.Within the span of 49 years of his administration, the church had built1,250 local chapels and 35 large concrete cathedrals. The leadership of the church was passed on to his son, Eraño de Guzman Manalo.

To see what we have now in the Church of Christ with over a hundred nations throughout the world.
It's pretty amazing that it all developed from one man who was chosen by God to reestablish the Church in these last days.

So how do you feel about the Pope being okay with the LGBT community?
@catholicismandpharmacy or @keepcatholic I don't remember who of them answered this question with what the Pope truly say and what Media say he said. I’m just going to say Media lied about what the Pope said of LGBT community. What he truly said is what Church say about them.
The Pope resumed it, but what Catholic Church Cathecism sais, is that:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Julian of Norwich was a medieval anchoress who lived long before the split in western Christendom and continues to be remembered by many groups including the Anglicans but she is also quoted in the Catholic cathecism, has been referred to as a potential Doctor of the Church and the Pope back in 2010 is quoted as saying “Julian of Norwich understood the central message for spiritual life”
In general its probably wise to know more about someone than what a one sentence quote allows before judging their understanding of and relationship to faith
Faith is nothing else but a right understanding (with true belief and certain trust) of our being - that we are in God, and God in us - which we do not see.

Biography of Felix Manalo
This is a biography of Felix Ysagun y Manalo or mostly known as Felix Manalo. He was born in Barrio Tipas, Taguig, Rizal province in Luzon, Philippines on May 10, 1886. His name Felix means “happy” was chosen from the roster saints from that month. His father, Mariano Ysagun is a fisherman and her mother Bonifacia Manalo was a housewife and a known “manang”, a devotee of the patron saint, San Antonio.
When he was seven, he was made to attend a public school in Santa Ana, Taguig. Another time, he won a whiplash battle that lasted hours and left him sick for a week. His father died in 1896 during the Philippine Revolution against Spain, leaving him and his younger sister, Praxedes, to be raised by their mother. His father's identity as a Katipuneros of Taguig, the Katipunan's secret gathering location, is unclear. At this time, his primary education was disturbed.
General Emilio Aguinaldo declares the Philippines freedom from Spanish colonial authority in 1898. Felix, 12, and his cousin Modesto, 12, drifted away for Manila soon after this. He learned photography from his cousin, Serapio Ysagun, and afterwards became an apprentice at his uncle, Manuel Manalo's, photographic studio. Other skills he learnt included goldsmithing, barbering, and weaving buri caps. His mother married Clemente Mozo, a widower, in 1899. Only two of his five children, Fausta and Baldomero, survived. Baldomero was born two months after Mozo died. Bonifacia was forced to work in a small sawali (woven bamboo strips) factory as a result of this.
Felix and his cousin were adopted in an urban parish house in Sampaloc, Manila, by their uncle Mariano Borja, a Catholic priest, in 1899.
He went to the parish seminary because he was a parishioner. He was therefore able to compare the Catholic church's teachings and actions to the Bible's teachings. He realized that fundamental Catholic concepts such as baptism by infusion, worship of graven images, and protracted prayers are incompatible with the Bible. Doubts began to arise in his mind, and he began to reject traditional Catholic rituals.
In April 1903, Felix was drawn to the Colorum spiritist organization, which claimed that the end of the world was approaching, and whose initiation ceremonies led him on a lenten pilgrimage to the San Cristobal and Banahaw mountains near Dolores, Tayabas (now Quezon province). Mystics were able to communicate with the Supreme Being in a direct and reciprocal manner.
In the dark bowels of the mountain caverns, you may ask God a question and hear His audible response. He realized the "Voice of the Almighty" was coming from a regular person — a Colorum leader. He returned home after becoming disillusioned. With his buddy Eusebio Sunga, he founded a sombreria, or hat business, in Paraaque, Rizal.
He and Modesto watched a public argument about the usage of graven images between a Catholic priest and an American Methodist pastor, in which the latter clearly won and piqued his curiosity. He eventually abandoned his hat shop in order to devote more attention to his religious studies. He went to the Methodist Episcopal Church's headquarters on Rizal Avenue in Manila, where he was introduced to an American missionary by a pastor. He began attending its worship sessions and later became a pastor after enrolling in the Florence B. Nicholson Seminary in Caloocan, Rizal, in 1918.
While on a missionary assignment in the summer of 1905, he learned that his mother was gravely ill and returned home to Tipas to see her, but it was too late. He turned down the final sacrament for her. She had to be buried at an Aglipayan cemetery when the Catholic priest refused to let her be buried in the Tipas Catholic cemetery. He stayed with his brother Baldomero and sisters Praxedes and Fausta in Tipas for a while. He then took his mother's surname Manalo (which means "victory" in Tagalog) out of love and respect for her, as well as a desire to have a common surname with his stepbrothers Baldomero and Fausta.
In 1907 he joined the Presbyterian Church and later became a minister after attending the Erinwood Bible School. He lived in the homes of Esteban Aquino and Rita Bani, a Presbyterian couple who lived on the corners of Malate's Carolina and Cortavirte streets in Manila. He approached them, and the childless couple treated him as his son. In 1910 he joined the alliance of Christianity and missionaries known in the United States as a disciple of Christ, where he studied at the University of Manila in the Bible. What caught his attention was the nature of immersion baptism and the idea of restoring a first-century church. He married Tomasa Sereneo from Paco, Manila. Her son Gerald died in early childhood. His wife is said to have accused him of cruel and adultery. (Nevertheless, on December 25, 1918, Christian missionary ministers praised him as an outstanding evangelist.
In 1908, the Seventh Day Adventist commenced its first missionary paintings withinside the Philippine islands with the advent of L.V. Finster, an elder and a pastor. It changed into best on three March 1911 that it carried out its first baptism which changed into held with the aid of using the Pasig River, close to Punta Santa Ana, Manila, officiated with the aid of using I.H. Evans, then president of the Asiatic Division. In the equal year, Felix attended a assembly to discuss Finster on his stance that Christians are below the Mosaic Law. Felix changed into very competitive in his questioning. He had a protracted listing of questions, however after Finster had effectively responded them one with the aid of using one, Manalo manfully said, “You know, that guy is right!” Manalo persisted his research with Finster for 7 months. After this indoctrination, he joined the church.
One day in November, 1913, Felix Manalo gathered all the religious literature he had accumulated and arranged them, with a pile of unused notebooks, sharpened pencils and the Bible, on a table inside a dimly-lit room in Eusebio Sungas house in Pasay. He instructed everyone in the household that he should not be disturbed, then kept himself in seclusion. So intense was his concentration that he became oblivious of time, food and the world outside. He emerged from that seclusion after three days and three nights of intensive study and reflection, his notebooks filled with notes, certain that God had commissioned him to perform a mission.
One day in July1914, Felix Manalo and wife, Honorata, left Pasay with out a centavo among them and proceeded to Sta. Anna, Manila. He intentionally did now no longer convey any money, stated his wife, for he desired God to carry out a miracle of their life. Before achieving their destination- Punta St. Ana-the needed to go the Pasig River with the aid of using boat. A boatman ferried them throughout with out the two-centavo fare-Manalo promised to pay him later. In Punta, he requested for his pals Apolinario Ramos and wife, Engracia. They have been staying withinside the people quarters of the development firm, Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company. Manalo then despatched a person to pay the boat fare. That night, with the permission of the Ramos couple, he carried out his first spiritual assembly of their room with best a handful of humans listening. As he persisted to keep nightly conferences greater got here to listen, Drawn now no longer best with the aid of using the newness of his biblical teachings however with the aid of using their eagerness to peer the younger evangelist who even then changed into famend as a brilliant, spell-binding speaker. Indeed, Felix Manalo, then best 27 taking place 28, had a commanding persona and outstanding eloquence. Every declaration he made changed into from the Bible. Not lengthy after that first assembly the primary 14 converts to the Iglesia ni Cristo have been baptized, with the aid of using immersion, with the aid of using Felix Manalo on the Sta. Ana part of the Pasig River. To make sure privacy, the baptismal vicinity changed into enclosed with white material held up with the aid of using bamboo poles. Manalo waited withinside the baptistery for the converts. Before him, in waist deep water, he advised every of them to elevate their hands, country their allegiance to God, Christ and the Bible, and reaffirm their loyalty to their new faith. Then he immersed them one at a time withinside the clean river water "withinside the call of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit".
This first batch of converts, according to Church records, was composed of:
1. Barbara Cordero
2. Juan de la Cruz
3. Juana de la Cruz
4. Maximano Diosenito
5. Remigia Guevarra
6. Pedro Inocencio
7. Federico Inocencio
8. Tomas Inocencio
9. Emilia de Leon
10. Felicimo de Leon
11. Estanislao Mangilit
12. Engracia Ramos
13. Gorgonio Sta. Maria
14. Eugenia Yuzon
To keep away from accusations of preaching an unrecognized church, Felix Manalo determined to sign in the Iglesia ni Cristo with the Philippine government. He requested a attorney friend, Juan Natividad, to help him. On July 27, 1914, the Iglesia ni Cristo become formally registered, the date of its registration coinciding with the outbreak of World War I. It become registered as a "agency sole" with Felix Manalo as Executive Minister. On the Locale congregations, every congregation more or less equal to a Catholic parish, grew into Divisions, every Division equal to a diocese.
Pampanga have become the primary Division in 1924 with Teodoro Santiago because the first Division Minister or Administrator. Next got here Tarlac (1925) beneathneath Reymundo Mansilungan; Laguna (1928) with Andres Tucker as first Division Minister; Nueva Ecija (1930) administered with the aid of using Prudencio Vasquez; Zambales (1931) beneathneath Benito Simbillo; Bulacan (1932) beneathneath Jacinto Torres; Cavite followed (1932) administered with the aid of using Feliciano Gonzales. Eventually, different Division had been unexpectedly established; then Pangasinan (1934) beneathneath Placido Pascua. Other provinces in Southern Luzon followed; Batangas (1936) with Eugenio Cortes as first Division Minister; Tayabas (now Quezon), have become a department in 1913 beneathneath Glicerio Santos Sr. Manalo then fielded a few evangelical people in Northern Luzon, specially La Union, aleven though that province have become a district handiest in 1943, with Felimon Sanidad as first Division Minister.
Next, the Churchs missionary forces entered the Visayas. Cebu have become a Division in 1937, with Alipio Apolonio as first Division Minister. Bohol, reached in 1938, have become a Division in 1955 beneathneath Antonio Jerusalem.
The Ilocos Norte Division become fashioned in 1938, administered with the aid of using Placido Pascua. Manalos domestic province of Rizal have become a Division in 1939, with Telesforo S. Cruz as its first Division Minister. Isabela withinside the North have become a Division in 1947, beneathneath Felix Suratos. Mindoro Oriental have become a Division in 1940 beneathneath Mariano Castro.
From Luzon and the Visayas, the Church reached out to remote Mindanao in 1941 with approximately 30 households belonging to the Church in Paco, Manila as a vanguard. They first settled in Cotabato like pilgrims and at once Began evangelization. The marketing campaign become effective however Cotabato did now no longer turn out to be a Division then due to the fact World War II intervened. In 1946, however, the paintings resumed, and Manalo made Cotabato a Division beneathneath Mariano Suarez.
Felix Manalo created his second trip to the u. s. in August 1938 at the instance of the Christian Alliance Society. He welcome the chance to deliver speeches abroad at their invite for it might additionally change him to endure treatment of a abdomen ailment.
He was able to go with some speaking engagements however unable to undergo treatment for once he fell unwell he educated his secretary, Cirilo Gonzales, to bring him back directly to the Philippines. incoming in Manila once four months within the United States, the 52-year-old leader was welcomed at Pier seven by thousands of Church members. He was happy however his health troubled him.
However it had been solely in 1953, at 67, that he met the concept of succession head-on. On Jan 23, that year, he summoned all division ministers and senior officers of the Church once their regular ministerial meeting to a special conference.
He declared that when his time came, there should be somebody to require his place. The sudden announcement surprised the ministers as a result of Manalo was then quite young and appeared terribly healthy. At 2oclock that afternoon, the meeting proceeded with Felix Manalo presiding. The pick was held. The names of Eraño G. Manalo, Isaias Samson and Isaias Neruda were conferred as candidates.
Samson obtained 2 votes, whereas Eraño G. Manalo obtained all of the remaining votes. He was afterwards announced nem con because the future govt Minister. The body then nonappointive his would-be assistants: Teofilo C. Ramos, as his "right hand man" and Cipriano Sandoval as his "left hand".
Manalo died after nearly 50 years of main the Iglesia ni Cristo. At the time of his dying he had already secured its stability, having installed and nurtured a sturdy frame of ministers and evangelical workers, a national community of deacons and deaconesses, inner Church businesses for younger and antique, examined propagation gear like spiritual debates, public rallies and informative guides just like the Pasugo and , above all, a frame of biblical doctrines different church buildings have now no longer efficaciously disputed. Under his management he had cast a sturdy bond of brotherhood a number of the Church contributors and stored them united and in harmony.
It changed into in this sturdy, enduring basis that his successor, Eraño G. Manalo, has needed to build. When the torch changed into exceeded to the then 38-year-antique Eraño in 1963, he pledged, "I intend to hold on my fathers mission, keep in line with his method, and encourage field and piety amongst my brothers and sisters withinside the Church.
I recognise I actually have their guide and vote of confidence." Those who believed the Church of Christ could become worse after the dying of Felix Manalo had been grossly disappointed.
For, at the contrary, the tempo of its increase has accelerated. The new steward has proved to be modern, similarly powerful chief and administrator. Under his management the Church has spanned and transcended the oceans and stamped the indelible imprint of Christianity amongst different Asian peoples, Americans, Europeans, Africans or even amongst Muslims withinside the Middle East. Eraño G. Manalo is brief to factor out, however, that the achievement of the Church have to now no longer be attributed to him. In his very own words: "All the energy and the consideration which the church is playing end result from the truth that once I assumed the position, the Church already had a organization and stable basis laid through the overdue Executive Minister. The Church is now playing the culmination of his vision, his sufferings and sacrifices, his love and fortitude. Above all, the whole thing is going on in line with the desire of God."

Yeah, also a Lutheran here, as far as I'm aware all the anti semetic writing came AFTER he made his theses and the cathecism, so none of his disgusting statements got into mainstream church theology. Obviously every branch of Christianity has anti semetic people in them, that doesn't mean everyone under that umbrella hates Jewish people. Afaik, Luther called out the Catholic church and then didn't take charge of the Lutheran church, in fact he didn't even want it named after himself because he didn't want a man being lifted up the way God should be.
Happy Reformation Day!
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany (he also sent them to his bishop, but never got a direct response).
Now, this may sound like a dramatic action intended to stir up controversy and protest within the Catholic Church, and that’s how it’s often portrayed. However, this church was the campus chapel for the university at Wittenberg, and the door was used as a bulletin board, primarily for academic announcements. Luther also wrote the 95 Theses in Latin, intending them as discussion points for a conference with other theologians.
Luther chose this day because his chief concern was over indulgences, and the Caste Church was home to a large collection of relics that were displayed on All Saints’ Day (November 1st).
In January of 1518, the 95 Theses were translated into German, copied, and distributed across Europe. Luther, an Augustinian monk and a priest, was also a professor at the university. Students from all over came to hear his lectures.
Heresy charges were pressed against Luther by the Catholic Church, and he stood trial at Augsburg in 1518. Luther refused to recant, but before he could be arrested for heresy he was smuggled out of the city by a Carmelite monk.
In 1520 Pope Leo X issued a papal bull threatening Luther with excommunication if he refused to recant. Luther burned it, and consequently was excommunicated in 1521.
Luther again stood trial at the Diet of Worms in 1521, this time being charged by the secular authorities. All his writings were laid out on a table, and he was asked to recant them all (even though much of his writing was in agreement with Catholic doctrine). Luther requested time to pray, and the next day gave this response:
“Unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Scriptures or by clear reason (for I do not trust either in the pope or in councils alone, since it is well known that they have often erred and contradicted themselves), I am bound by the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. May God help me. Amen.”
Luther was declared an outlaw and was forced into hiding, during which time he published many other writings on other issues he took with Catholic doctrine and practice.
He married Katharina von Bora, now known as Katie Luther, in 1523. Katie was a nun who ran away from her convent with several of her fellow sisters. Martin Luther helped the nuns escape by sending a fish merchant who hid the nuns among the barrels on his wagon.
Martin and Katie had six children, and Martin often commented on Katie’s contributions and support as he organized what would later be known as the Lutheran church.
To best understand Lutheran doctrine, I recommend beginning with Luther’s Small Catechism, which was written for a father to teach his children the Faith. For a deeper dive, the next step is the Large Catechism, followed by the Formula of Concord.
Today, there are many churches and people who call themselves Lutheran but reject most or all of Lutheran doctrine, rendering the name meaningless. These churches will often be seen supporting abortion or same-sex marriage and trying desperately to remain “relevant” in our rapidly degenerating culture.
Those who hold to Lutheran doctrine refer to themselves as Confessional Lutherans, and Confessional Lutheran churches will cite the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Confessions as the basis for their teaching.
Today I will post various videos and memes in celebration of Reformation Day. Please feel free to ask me questions, I’ll do my best to answer!

Salutary Reparation to the Holy Face of Jesus is a Divine Work, Destined to Save Modern Society
Tumblr media
This Salutary Reparation to the Holy Face of Jesus is a Divine Work, Destined to Save Modern Society. — Pope Pius IX
Tumblr media
The Holy Face of Jesus from the image of Veronica’s veil (The veil is kept in St. Peters Basilica, Rome.)
Devotion to the Holy Face of Christ is of ancient origin, reaching back to the fourth century and before. From the 12th century on, the devotion began to revolve around the Veil of Veronica, held to be the cloth Veronica gave to Our Lord to wipe His face during the carrying of the Cross.
Popularity of the devotion grew enormously with St. Therese of the Child Jesus making known her devotion to the Holy Face, with an Archconfraternity of the Holy Face formed in Tours, France, in 1884.  Through the centuries, a great number of saints and other holy people were deeply devoted to the Holy Face as a way to console Our Lord, to make reparation for blasphemy, the conversion of sinners, and make reparation for the negligence and contempt shown for the Blessed Sacrament.
According to the Cathecism of the Catholic Chucrch, blasphemy is a horrible sin which consists in words or acts of contempt or malediction against God, the Blessed Virgin, the Saints, or sacred things. And our Lord Jesus Christ warned us that there is only one sin that you can commit that God cannot forgive. That sin, would be blasphemy against the Holy Ghost:
“He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come“. [Matthew 12:30-32]
“Amen I say to you, that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin“. [Mark 3:28-29]
Catholic tradition includes specific prayers and devotions as Acts of Reparation for insults and blasphemies against Jesus Christ, and the Holy Name of Jesus. Act of Reparation is a prayer, or devotion with the intent to expiate the “sins of others”, e.g. for the repair of the sin of blasphemy, the sufferings of Jesus Christ, or as Acts of Reparation to the Virgin Mary.
The Golden Arrow Prayer by Sr Marie of St Peter
This prayer is an Act of Praise and Reparation for Blasphemy. The Face of Christ was intended to change the face of the earth. She envisioned every diocese organizing the Reparation. She saw every parish holding Sunday Devotions in honor of the Holy Face to repair for the crimes of atheism and the profanation of holy days. She saw every family exposing in their homes a picture of the Redeemer’s Sacred Face, as a symbol of their faith. It was to be a New World of Peace (not New World Order), first with God, and then with neighbor. “If only more could be made to understand the meaning of the Work in that light!”
Sr Marie of St Peter (1816–1848)
May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in Heaven, on earth, and in the hells, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
Prayer of St. Therese of Lisieux ( 1873–1897) to the Holy Face of Jesus
O Jesus, Who in Thy bitter Passion didst become “the most abject of men, a man of sorrows,” I venerate Thy Sacred Face whereon there once did shine the beauty and sweetness of the Godhead; but now it has become for me as if it were the face of a leper! Nevertheless, under those disfigured features, I recognize Thy infinite Love and I am consumed with with the desire to love Thee and make Thee loved by all men. The tears which well abundantly in Thy sacred eyes appear to me as so many precious pearls that I love to gather up, in order to purchase the souls of poor sinners by means of their infinite value. O Jesus, Whose adorable Face ravishes my heart, I implore Thee to fix deep within me Thy Divine Image and to set me on fire with Thy Love, that I may be found worthy to come to the contemplation of Thy glorious Face in Heaven. Amen.
The Feast of the Holy Face, February 28, 2017 – Celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass Unified with the Will of God
Masses in honour of the Holy Face appeared as early as the fourteenth century. On April 17th, 1958, His Holiness, the Venerable Pope Pius XII has extended the devotion and approved the observance of the Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus on Shrove Tuesday (Tuesday before Ash Wednesday). His Holiness granted this Feast to honor a request of Our Lord Himself to Blessed Pierina in 1938:
See how I suffer. Nevertheless, I am understood by so few. What gratitude on the part of those who say they love Me. I have given My Heart as a sensible object of My great love for man and I give My Face as a sensible object of My sorrow for the sins of man. I desire that it be honored by a special feast on Tuesday in Quinquagesima (Shrove Tuesday – the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, or Mardi Gras, or Carnivalé). The feast will be preceded by a novena in which the faithful make reparation with Me uniting themselves with My sorrow.
The following Holy Face Mass is being said on the Holy Face Feast Day. Here is the Proper Mass text of the Mass in Latin and English.

Holy Face Devotion also Includes
Holy Face Chaplet from the Rosary Bay workshop
The Litany of the Holy Face By Sr. Mary of St. Peter
The Chaplet of the Holy Face
As it was in the days of St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226), our Lord said: “Francis, go and build up My house, which thou seest, is falling into ruin”, and he began by restoring physical churches and continued by building up the spiritual Church in souls, so it is now, our Lord calls us to “Restore all things to Christ!“.
O Blessed Face of my kind Savior, by the tender love and piercing sorrow of Our Lady as she beheld you in your cruel Passion, grant us to share in this intense sorrow and love so as to fulfill the holy will of God to the utmost of our ability. Amen.

why dont you agree with lgbt? the bible says nothing about it.. only the church does. do you listen to gods word (the bible) or other catholics? the only poeple who have a problem with it are the church not the bible
Dear anon,
You really should considerer your words before affirm something you can’t. I say that because Bible say things about homosexuality specifically, you can find:
Leviticus 18:22
Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Genesis 19:1-29 (Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah)
The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”
“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
“Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.
But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.
The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.”
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”
When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”
But Lot said to them, “No, my lords, please! Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”
He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of. But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.)
By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord. He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.
So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.
Romans 1:26,27
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts.
Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations
with women and were inflamed with lust for one another.
Men committed indecent acts with other men,
and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
1 Corinthians 6:10
nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.
That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Sexual Immorality.*
“Everything is lawful for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is lawful for me,” but I will not let myself be dominated by anything.
“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will do away with both the one and the other. The body, however, is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body;
God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take Christ’s members and make them the members of a prostitute? Of course not!
[Or] do you not know that anyone who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For “the two,” it says, “will become one flesh.”
But whoever is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
Avoid immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the immoral person sins against his own body.
Do you not know that your body is a temple* of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.
1 Timothy 1:10
We are well aware that the Law is good, but only provided it is used legitimately, on the understanding that laws are not framed for people who are upright. On the contrary, they are for criminals and the insubordinate, for the irreligious and the wicked, for the sacrilegious and the godless; they are for people who kill their fathers or mothers and for murderers, for the promiscuous, homosexuals, kidnappers, for liars and for perjurers -- and for everything else that is contrary to the sound teaching that accords with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, the gospel that was entrusted to me.
I think I’ve given you enough proves about what the Bible says about homosexuality. Church just explains why the Bible says that. Also, for your interest, you have the Catechism that says:
2357. "HOMOSEXUALITY refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, [Cf. Gen 191-29 ; Rom 124-27 ; 1 Cor 6:10 ; 1 Tim 1:10 .] tradition has always declared that 'homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.'[CDF, Persona humana 8.] They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved."
2358. "The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. They do not choose their homosexual condition; for most of them it is a trial. "
2359. "Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection. "
With this, what Cathecism says it that feel attraction for other equal sex people isn’t sin, but to consent on this attraction and have sexual activity with a person of the same sex, this is sinful and it’s totally wrong, so wrong that even the Bible says it. Forgive me to say that, but you have no reason in your words.
So, answering your question, I totally listen God’s word, because the Bible is saying it, and I listen The Church because Church explain it.
CONCLUSION: BIBLE AND CHURCH ARE SAYING THE SAME!

According to the Catholic Church actions can be sinful but thoughts, desires, temptations cannot. Being gay is not a sin. Having gay sex is a sin because according to the Church "sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative purpose" (Cathecism of the Catholic Church, Life in Christ, Section Two, The Ten Commandments, Chapter Two, “You Shall Love Your Neighbour as Yourself”). The Church is never going to allow gay people to marry if they can’t have biological children together because “in the Creator's plan, sexual fruitfulness belongs to the very nature of marriage.” That’s it. If you’re straight and use a condom then it’s the same sin. It’s a pretty basic one, not that huge a deal by today’s standards. They’re not saying gay people are going to hell. It’s not that deep. Also the Church has never supported conversion therapy because they’re huge on the dignity of the human person and all.

Hozier on the Pope saying it’s okay to be gay yet gay marriage is still illegal and on the Catholic Church justifying homophobia. (x)
