Cat fact! According to ~science male cats are typically left paw dominant and female cats are right paw dominant. Why? Idk but you know cats; they like to keep their secrets.

Gay German/Greek facts! Heinrich Hössli (1784-1864) was a Swiss German who was famous for making women's hats AND who loved his gay son so much he wrote a book called 'Eros - The Greek Love of Men' (1836). Considered one of the first 19th century texts defending male same-sex love, the book was written after his son came out to him and was later charged with 'indecent acts'. Hössli looked to the Greeks (whose writings and culture were popular with the German intellectual elite) to defend homosexuality. He believed that the Greeks were the key to society understanding, accepting, and defending the rights of gay men. After all, if a society such as the Germans saw the ancient Greeks as the pinnacle of culture and society, this would also have to include their sexual practices which viewed the love between men as the ultimate expression of love. To do any less would be hypocritical and devalue what made Greek society what it was. Hössli also believed that homosexuality was not a choice but an immutable part of a person.

Hössli was also against any and all anti-semitism, was pro-women's rights, and all for the separation of church from government. What a king 👑

I knew the cat thing and I like to test it myself when observing cats and it does seem to be mostly true. I know one girl who is left pawed but she lives with her brother cat (did I need to specify? might her brother have been a tortoise?) and our theory is that she just wants to match him! But then, I have a brother and I've never once been tempted to mimic him in any way, so we'll wait to hear what the cat behaviourists have to say I guess 🤔

Hössli sounds incredible and I also hope his son knew he loved him. You have to think that a dad like him, who was writing books, would have made that clear? I don't know how demonstrative 19th century German parents were but I think you can always tell, at least a little. The shipwreck is sad (the untrustworthy ocean strikes again) but at least Hössli lived a long life of correct moral stances and hats and loving his son.

The stars send someone to help. The stars lead. You follow. You follow and ask for a place at the table. You get it this time. A mercy is only a mercy for however long it lasts. The Twolegs will come again. A history nobody is around to remember will repeat. It will destroy you again.

You wonder how to feed your Clan. When the time comes, will mercy still be extended to you? Will you still have a space at the table?

Losing my mind right now, I don't know how it happened but apparently my cats got to listen to a few episodes of Uprooted today while I was at work.

I just got home from work, it's 10:30 PM and I left home at 7:30 this morning. I have a google Nest Hub thing in my kitchen, it has a display on it and I usually turn on a YouTube video if I'm in the kitchen for an extended period. This morning I'd turned on a Penguinz0 video as I put together my lunch and when it finished and I didn't turn it off, it autoplayed into an episode of Uprooted (for the like third time this week, it fucking loves episode 6 of Uprooted for some reason). I let it carry on as I continued to get my shit together. I'm like...75% sure I turned it off before I left, I'm kinda doubting myself now because I also found a cat photo with a time stamp from this morning that I have no memory of taking, so maybe I just wasn't awake this morning.

Anyways, I went to work, I got situated in my task that allows for listening/half watching to LoA videos and I'd turned on SR ep 10 and I listened to that for most of the day. By about 3 PM I had to pause the episode for the foreseeable future (and only had 6 minutes left 😭😭) and I didn't close the app, I kept it in the background on my phone so that if I found the time, I could finish it today. Cut to this evening, during supper someone mentioned something that I knew I could find online, so I googled and opened the video on YouTube. As it finishes, I go back into my history to open the SR episode again (didn't have time to watch it, just wanted to have it in the background again) and noticed it was kinda deep in my history, and three episodes of Uprooted were listed as more recently watched than that??? Assumed it was just weird app issues and forgot about it.

Cut to 10 minutes ago when I approach my front door and I hear voices inside??? I live alone, the lights are off, who is inside???

🥰 Common Ground (His Boy Next Door #40) (RJ Moray) - LOVE that Jack & Ewan are finding some common ground - really love that this series is showing how two people who don't particularly care for each other can work to find connection for the sake of the people they DO love

😍 ACT-verse series (ann_anotherthing) - truly outstanding series about middle-aged Steddie getting a 2nd chance romance after their first one flamed out 25 yrs earlier. Full series is 117K but it starts with A Certain Type (54K), which is a fully complete story with satisfying HEA - the rest are flashback fics or wonderfully indulgent epilogue/vignettes, full of fluffy and delicious porn. The author confesses to basically turning them into her middle-aged OCs but 1) I think her projections of their characters in middle-age with these particular life experiences seem reasonably plausible and more importantly 2) I don't fucking care because this story and these characters (main & supporting) are AMAZING.

i found a site immediately (not the same site you were on unfortunately, but if you send that site to me my christmas list will thank you lol), and well it would have to be this one wouldn't it

mikey's not normally a jealous or possessive turtle, but he does love seeing his name on you. it soothes some urge in his hind brain, the one that has him constantly giving you hickies

he thinks you are the Cutest, and walks around the art museum you're at with your hand held tightly in his, smirking at everyone who compliments you on your outfit because obviously you're the best dressed person there

he's so proud that you're on his arm, he can't contain himself, all "yes, my partner has the best taste" to anyone and everyone he can

the unfortunate side effect of the hand holding is that whenever something catches his attention, he drags you off in his very excited wake

'he's lucky he's cute' you have to think to yourself as you trip after him

then you go to an art meetup at a nearby cafe, and you find yourself unable to concentrate on your artwork, too busy staring at him. he's so focused, and you think he's the most beautiful person you've ever seen

when he finishes and shows you that he's drawn you, in your outfit staring up at some of Michelangelo's work at the museum, well you fall in love with him all over again
