suddenly, after adopting a cat, I'm more aware of my home's specific ecosystem. I'm aware of the plants in my balcony, the kind of detergents or cleaners i had lying around, the kind of food that i eat and so on. i mean I've over the past few years become more conscious of humankind's ecological influences, but knowing it on a personal level is still impactful. not to say that the anthropogenic climate crisis can or should be dealt with on an individual level. counting our personal carbon footprint--unless we are just obnoxiously rich--is not an answer to our problem. But still. My cat opens a window for me into understanding how we coexist with other creatures in urban ecology. Anyway here's my cat.

Clover seems to be having symptoms of kitty dementia, and has been constantly meowing. All night and all this morning/afternoon. She finally calmed down once I put her water bowl in the shower and she seems to feel safe camping in there. I put down a lil bed for her so shes not sleeping on the bare tile. I'm so worried about her, I hope shes not in pain. I can't afford to take her to the vet rn, and she doesn't seem to have problems walking or jumping, so I think it's just her mental state that isn't doing well. I'll probably hotbox her with feliway and catnip while shes in there to keep her relaxed.

One of my moms has a CAT that likes to rough house with me, which I readily obliged to in the beginning, but now she's starting to set traps using bait to get me down to biteable level and it's honestly impressive and very scary to me.

My husband saw Mouse twitching and making noise in her sleep like she was having a nightmare and moved her to bed with me. I think she was dreaming that Pumpkin was sitting in her chair.

yeah turns out her stole her cat bed and was impersonating her by sleeping with his back (aka hiding his white spots) to the room making him look like her

Not fandom-specific but I find it absolutely bonkers whenever I read an AU where two (either college or just graduated) people move in together and they have their own rooms. Like?? How can you afford it?? Where are you renting?? How the hell?? I have a full time job with relatively high pay and I still room with my sister in a studio because it keeps our living expenses down! How do you have a 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and living room WHILE BROKE? What do you mean each room has their own ensuite bathroom??

Someone had a checkup today

She was not happy about it

And she hid under my seat in the car on the way home

Thankfully she came out on her own once I got the door open and crouched down on the ground next to the car

When we were walking to the car from the vet she just sat on my shoulders

She would not get in the carrier willingly or by force and she fights more than mercedes. She started as a harley burrito but I felt like she'd be more chill on my shoulders on the way out

She very bravely walked herself past a bunch of people and the dog to get back to the house tho. Once we got to the stairs up to the porch she jumped off my shoulders and went straight to the door

I'm wondering if maybe Roxy operates on the same principle of dogs that say you can't sit down without the dog being present at all times. Like does Cassie sit down literally anywhere and Roxy materialise next to her? It's not that she's desperate for attention or anything, it's just instinct to want sit next to those she cares about or something, ya know? Like if she really wants attention too, she'll do something to get it as well, but what if she operates on the Rule of Dog that dictates you can't relax or take a breather without Dog also being there?
