I came home after vending at AnthroExpo this weekend to find out my cat Helex has an abscessed tooth that needs to be pulled out. I made enough money this weekend to cover most of the vet bill but it’s 1) the entirety of the money I made at the con and 2) I’m still about 500$ short

Help Rune, The Stray, See an Official Vet

Hello, my name is Cherisha. This little guy came to our house a few months ago at night and has been asking for food, pets and love ever since. After a while we noticed he has been struggling with wounds, fleas, worms, you name it and my sister and I have been treating him every night when he comes by.

We want to get him vaccinated, make sure he is neutered, and receive a wellness exam to run tests for any illnesses he might have from being outside while being wounded. We would take him to a low-cost program clinic in our area, but we feel like he needs to see an official vet that can treat him for anything else a program wouldn't be able to offer. Vet appointments can range from $500 to $600 depending on the results of the health exam. We want to transition him indoors as well, which also leads to more expenses in helping them with their anxiety and providing his resources, due to already having two cats in the house.

Helping out Rune, also helps out the neighborhood because he does enjoy spending time with other cats, we just need him to be treated so all the cats and other animals in the neighborhood are fully safe to be around each other.

A friend of mine has started a fundraiser to open of a cat sanctuary. You can read a summary about the fundraiser below the links.

This innovative venture aims to provide a loving home for abandoned and rescued cats while offering a serene environment for the community to connect, relax, and explore holistic wellness.

Our Vision 

Imagine a welcoming space where cats have their own space to climb, play and enjoy life while finding comfort and love and visitors enjoy the calming ambiance filled with crystals, essential oils, and metaphysical goodies. You'll be able to spend time with the cats while at the shop and they will be adoptable to good homes of course. Our café will serve teas coffees and treats creating a space for conversation and community engagement.

Why This Matters

Every year, countless cats seek refuge and loving homes. Our sanctuary will provide shelter, care, and rehabilitation for these furry friends. In addition, the metaphysical shop will offer tools for personal growth, mindfulness, and healing, while the café will serve as a gathering place for workshops, events, classes such as cat yoga and community reflection. 

The faster we can raise funds the faster we can get cats and kittens off the streets and out of the cold! We've already got so many cats needing to come in but don't have the space for more than the 6 we have in the shop right now. We appreciate your help so much

My name is Mohammad Ramzi, and I’m a young Palestinian from Gaza. Before the war, I had a peaceful life filled with hope – a beautiful family, a home, a car, and two small shops where we sold clothes. I was studying at university, surrounded by friends and a community that made my world feel complete.

But everything changed when the war struck. It took everything from us. We fled our home in the north of Gaza and now live in a tent in the south, struggling every day for the basic necessities of life—water, food, medical care. The tents offer no protection from the elements, and we’ve been living in unimaginable conditions for over 400 days.

Our money ran out after 13 months of enduring these hardships. I have no job, and my father, who went to Egypt for heart surgery, can’t return. As the eldest son, I now carry the responsibility of supporting my family while caring for him from afar.

Surviving the Impossible - A Glimpse Into Life Under Siege

Amid the ruins of war, where safety has become a distant memory, a family in Gaza struggles to survive against unimaginable challenges. The skyrocketing prices of basic necessities where a kilogram of flour that once cost a dollar now costs $20 have turned daily survival into an arduous battle. (1 kilogram equals 2.2 pounds).

The family gathers under a fragile tent around a weak fire, baking their bread on an old griddle to stave off hunger and warm their bodies against the biting winter cold. Their faces tell stories of exhaustion, resilience, and unbreakable hope. Despite the harsh winds and constant fear, they hold onto each other, drawing strength from the bonds of family that keep them together.

I collaborated with @drdarine and @dawoudi to shed some light on their family and their struggles. This drawing is not just a depiction of suffering but a humanitarian call for solidarity and reflection - these individuals aren't just numbers on news reports, they're people who had their dreams and hopes forcibly taken away.

This isn't just a story, but a call for awareness and action. Families in Gaza, like this one, urgently need our support. By sharing their stories, raising awareness, or contributing to humanitarian efforts, we can be part of the change they so desperately need under this period of unimaginable suffering.
