Herb Guide: Basic Hygiene
A quick aside for @kingmystrie who has a stinky Clanmate
[Image ID: sketch of a cat licking its outstretched leg]
For the most part, a healthy warrior can be expected to keep themselves perfectly clean. Cats have special tongues with ridges on them perfectly evolved to keep their coats shiny and healthy.
When a Clan cat is long-furred, sick or elderly, or displaying signs of mental distress, the Clan will give them special attention to keep them clean. This is not just a job for the medicine cat; allo-grooming is a social behavior, close to the heart of a collectivist cat culture.
Herbs only come into play when hygiene becomes a health problem. The two most common issues are Mats and Fleas.
Mats
Time to clear up a common misconception; a mat is not a knot. A mat is what happens when a knot tangles with a bunch of other knots, wrapping up dead skin, dirt, layers of shed fur, and other gross debris into a solid mass. If a mat has formed, there’s been a breakdown in proper care!
When they do form, they are likely to form where the cat has trouble reaching, like the lower back.
Not only are mats filthy, but they can also pose a health hazard by weakening and pulling painfully on the skin below, allowing infection to take root. Mats must be removed as quickly as possible, before they become too large. Taking care of mats can take several painful, time-consuming days.
Oil made from flax seeds can be use to lubricate and loosen them, if the mat is not too large to be a lost cause. Carefully brush with claws, teeth, or a bone comb, if your Clan is capable of simple carving.
The best treatment is to carefully shave the area. A sharpened mussel shell, or a flint or stone blade will do. Take care to not cut the skin below, which could be thin and sensitive from bearing a mat.
Fleas
Aside from ticks which are treated with the infamous canonical mouse bile, fleas are another concern to Clan cats. While they’re only annoying to adult cats, they can sicken elders and kill kittens if they become a camp-wide infestation.
Prevention
Fleas can’t be completely eliminated, but Clans go to great lengths to keep them at bay. Cedar chips are used as den flooring, especially in the nursery, producing a fresh pine smell that insects can’t stand.
Mint can be planted around the camp and rubbed into fur to repel fleas and prevent them from leaping onto a patrolling warrior; but this is kept away from the nursery as mint is extremely poisonous and babies have a bad habit of putting things in their mouths.
Treatment
“barkface what do if flea outbreak bad TIME SENSITIVE“ -Kestrelpaw, desperately texting StarClan
For a VERY bad flea infestation, an herbal bath is an easy but detested solution. A large clay bowl (or, in SkyClan, a stolen birdbath) is filled with water for soaking, vinegar for killing, and a blend of mint and lavender for repellent. From there, the unfortunate warrior is plunged in, usually yowling and crying, and forced to soak for an hour.
Repeat for every. Single. Infested warrior. Even if they are WAILING LIKE BABIES.
They must be prevented from licking clean after this bath. Licking the bathwater off will poison the Warrior from the mint. Since it’s only a repellent, the mint could be optional, but WILL be included if the camp is actively infested... in spite of the soaked warrior’s grumblings.
The number one flea-killer, bar none, the GOLDEN KING of bug eradication, is none other than SALT. In addition to being a seasoning, having as much salt as possible in the medicine cat den is invaluable for controlling flea breakouts. Salt will be added to the herbal bath when it’s available.
In the Forest Territories, there was no salt. In the Lake Territories, collecting salt takes a long journey to the beach, and a patrol capable of carrying it home. As far as the Clans are concerned, salt works miracles so these trips are scheduled visits.

I take requests as needed if you drop an ask <3 Upcoming herb guide is scoliosis but so far I have Epilepsy, HRT, Basic Hygiene including flea treatments, eye infections, and I'm planning a cat version of the bubonic plague.
Wiki also has a list of canon herbs here and if you wanted to do what the Erins do, they've admitted to just referencing Culpepper's Complete Herbal, which is available on The Internet Archive and searchable PDF are very easy to find online
My guides go a step further, checking that the herbs I choose don't poison cats (comfrey would be instant death lmao).
does anyone have any good lists of warriors herbs and remedies?
#The current project I'm on rn is fixing allegiances for my rewrite project with Halo#But I'm open to quick detours if it'd be useful#Happy to help dude#Bone Babble

Why Need A Professional Dog Grooming - Creature Companions | Magazine
Professional dog grooming is the practice of cleaning and hygienically maintaining a dog's coat, skin, nails, and ears. Professional dog groomers are trained to recognize and treat common health issues that can arise from poor grooming, such as skin infections, flea and tick infestations, and ear infections.
They will also be knowledgeable about the different types of coats and skin that various breeds of dogs have and be able to advise on the best products and maintenance techniques. Professional groomers can also guide the best haircut for a particular species and help ensure your pet looks its best.
A dog looks and feels better when they are clean and well-groomed. Instantaneously, it can improve their well-being. One of the most well-known advantages of routine professional grooming is that it gives your pet a healthier coat and restores the luster frequently lost due to pollutants and dust that settles on their jacket.
Also, grooming makes your pets smell better, making them more lovable and cuddly. Generally speaking, you may need assistance determining the treatment your pet needs when you try to bathe them at home.
In contrast, a professional groomer could provide you with customizable shampoos and conditioners that can be medicated, ayurvedic, herbal, and so on, depending on your pet's needs. They can also help identify your dog's skin-related issues and suggest the best treatment.
Professional groomers also provide other services like nail trimming, ear cleaning, oral care, and fancy haircuts. You can also avail of various other services like micro-bubble baths, oil massages, and even aromatherapy. These are fun for your dog and have proven their benefits for their well-being.
The modern technology of a micro-bubble bath produces tiny ozone microbubbles that help to cleanse the follicles and make their coat healthier deeply. So if your dog suffers from skin irritation or itching, a microbubble spa session is the go-to solution to give your pet a soothing experience.
On the other hand, high-velocity dryers are used to dry your pet, which helps to quickly remove any moisture from their coat and help to get rid of any loose strands from the undercoat. This also protects your dog from overheating or burning its skin.
Professional groomers also make sure to use automatic pet drying machines that help to keep dogs and cats calm if they tend to get stressed by powerful dryers.

Asked about smoothing pony hair (nylon) in general
I’ll try to get this all together in one go....
How to get from:
To:
Most important
is that your flat iron has multiple heat settings.
That is 100% my secret. I lucked into the right flat iron about 15 years ago.
If it's just on-off it's most likely too hot. If it's low-high, also tends to be too hot even on low.
Mine has 30 temp settings, but they are 1-30 not the actual temps so I can’t give any advice as to what temp I’m using on what hair, just what flat iron setting.
I generally stay on heat setting one (which on my particular iron is low enough to not melt Kanekalon, while also high enough to smooth nylon) unless a hair is particularly stubborn, then I will turn it up by one dot on the dial at a time, testing it every time it reaches temp again.
youtube
Very rarely does my iron melt hair but it has happened with the color-change streak on a Splash n Color Teresa and with Creata doll hair*. Nylon can handle a little more heat but is also very willing to take a shape, so doesn't need much.
Mini Tip: I’ve found that wet hair smooths out more easily than dry. The steam, I guess. As long as your flat iron is set right for your fiber the hair will not melt, so you can do it dry if you want, but wet goes better.
Second biggest tip is that Amazon thinks I have a cat and a dog but I don’t.
That’s because I use pet combs and brushes on doll and pony hair.
Metal tines, as long as they are smooth (I had some combs that were punched from a sheet of metal and the tines were squared off and sharp) are best for plastic hair fibers because plastic combs have seam lines on the tines that can snag and tear hair.
A cat slicker brush like this is best for regular brushing because, just like a detangling brush for people, the wires will bend and let go of a knot instead of ripping out the hair.
@firespirited told me about this type of steel comb and it is amazing. The tines don’t bend [on mine] and the comb hasn’t warped at all even with repeated use and some heavy tangles. You can turn the comb on it’s end and use the last tine as a pick when needed.
And this exact flea comb has been MVP. I picked it up relatively recently and have been amazed by it’s durability (only recently have the tines started to bend a little and that’s after roughly 300 dolls and ponies and pulling pretty hard on some of them). It also does some kind of magic on doll hair.
The spacing on this comb is also so fine that it can pull out more dirt than a soap and water wash did. It’s excellent at removing lint, bug parts (had centipede legs and dead ants that were falling apart in pony hair recently), and most animal hairs as long as they aren’t aligned with the fibers. Have to get those with tweezers.
Often I’ve gotten through the rough comb out with the steel comb and the fibers felt like they might need hit with the flat iron, but after making a few passes with this flea comb it’s perfectly smooth and doesn’t need heat anyway.
Leading the flat iron with this comb (as in having the iron right behind the comb while flattening and combing at the same time) has helped a ton with smoothing out the tips of the hairs. Without doing that, there’s usually an inch or so of bad scruff left over after flattening. This takes it down to about a quarter inch which is a lot less loss after trimming.
(Amazon affiliated links to the brush, steel comb, and flea comb.)
Third biggest is conditioner.
Even if the hair doesn’t feel very dry, a little time in some conditioner will make it flatten more easily.
Any conditioner will help, but some do work better than others. I ran out of some Herbal Essences conditioner and bought a GALLON of Mane n Tail. Mane n Tail has been kind to MY hair, but wasn’t as effective on doll/pony hair as the Herbal Essences. Suave is another brand that’s worked well.
I’ve also had very good results from an after-coloring treatment mask from Garnier and tend to save that one for the worst feeling hairs.
Also important:
Realistic expectations.
The hair won’t feel perfect after flattening. Most of it will feel really great, but the ends will generally still be crinkled up a bit. That means the very ends of the hair will feel bad, still, and so will any shorter hair with the end being up in the main uh..... I don’t know clump of hair? You’ll be able to feel it if you run your hand down the hair. You can ignore those, pluck or trim them, whatever you want.
You may also have to condition and flatten multiple times to get the results you’re looking for. Don’t be discouraged if the first flattening doesn’t get you there.
Here’s a badly matted Disney Animator’s Collection Rapunzel with the left side combed out:
And after the first run through the flat iron:
And here after three or four conditionings and flattenings (I don’t remember exactly how many):
As for how
The order in which I do things changes depending on the state of the hair. If it’s very tangled and matted I usually won’t try to wash it until I’ve detangled it with the steel comb, because it’s difficult to rinse again and I don’t like working with soapy-wet hair.
If it’s particularly gross and dirty, though, I’ll go ahead and wash it because I also don’t like to touch nasty, or sticky hair. I use dish soap. It’s effective on a lot of different kinds of yuck and won’t harm the doll/pony or it’s hair.
Assuming the hair is too icky to touch comfortably:
- Wash and rinse, followed by a towel drying (or laying out to dry if I’m doing a LOT of them at once) and then set to work on the tangles with the steel comb.
- Starting at the ends comb the hair, slowly working your way up to the root, very carefully, gently picking apart mats with the wider-end of the steel comb or the end tine on a metal-tined hair pick or rat-tailed comb (there weren’t any rat-tailed combs when I went shopping for one so I got a pick and it works fine) until all of the major tangles are gone.
- Tip to root, very carefully with the finer end of the steel comb.
- Tip to root, very carefully with the flea/nit comb.
- This is where I generally apply conditioner. You can either apply it directly or if I’m doing a lot of Barbies all at once, I like to put some cool water in a dish, mix in some conditioner, and lay them so their hair is all in the same dish. That saves some product. Then let that sit however long you want. There is no too long, don’t worry even if it dries in the hair. It’ll rinse out fine. Then rinse well when you’re ready.
Mini Tip: Some people will tell you to flat iron the hair with the conditioner in. You can do that if you want. I haven’t found it makes much of a difference unless the hair is desperately dry, and in that case I’ve found it more effective to apply a very thin coating of petroleum jelly (put a little-little bit in your palm, rub it around until your hands are just a bit greasy but not very, run the hair between your hands a few times) and heat that in, as opposed to regular hair conditioner.
- Towel dry, and while it’s still damp, section it out and hit it with the flat iron. BE CAREFUL flat ironing wet or damp hair because you will drop boiling hot water into your own lap. Just be cautious. Keep a towel in your lap.
I generally flat iron from root to tip, leading the iron with the flea/nit comb. This works out fine if you’ve detangled properly.
- Repeat conditioning through flat ironing steps as needed. The first flat ironing is generally not enough when the hair was badly matted.
*For Creata brand doll hair, carefully detangle, comb, and wrap with your curlers, put the head in a plastic baggie then- or directly into- a mug of water, and put it on a candle warmer for a few hours.

Few Ways to Keep Ticks and Fleas Of Your Pet or Kids
One of the best ways to avoid the misery and high cost of Lyme disease is to do your part with affordable flea and tick control. If you don't already know, ticks are one of the primary causes of Lyme disease. Unfortunately, they can also be the cause of a host of other irritating and dangerous diseases. That's why it's a good idea to take preventative measures so that you don't end up helping this horrible disease spread. Here are some ways to help you keep ticks and fleas off of your pet and even your kids.
There are some basic steps you can take to prevent ticks from getting into your house. You should always dispose of leftover food or foodstuffs in your garbage or stovetop promptly after you make them. Do you realize how easy it is to leave a leftover steak, chicken, egg, or a chocolate bar on the counter? Ticks and fleas love these kinds of things and can easily jump into them to find an early dinner.
Be very wary of where your pets are playing. Fleas and ticks are often found in areas that are frequented by pets and children. Keep a close eye on them if you have small children in the house as well. Keep a broom or dustpan handy in the bathroom for cleaning up tick and flea droppings. Make sure all of your pets have a flea collar and it should be changed every week.
Fleas and ticks are also prevalent during the hot summer months. To prevent bringing these parasites into your home to make sure your pets stay out of the direct sun and always wear heavy clothing. Stay cool and dry and make sure your pets don't get overheated. Also, use insecticides on any plants in your yard. This will control ticks and fleas while keeping them away from your garden and plants.
There are several medications available to treat fleas and ticks. But using these medications is not something you should do without talking to your veterinarian first. Some of these medications may not be safe for children, pregnant women, or those with weak immune systems. Even people with clean skin should not take these medications. Talk to your vet about the risks involved before administering flea or tick medicine to your pet.
The easiest way to keep your pet and home free from ticks and fleas is to have proper flea control procedures in place. The first step in this process is to learn as much as you can about what causes fleas and ticks. Get rid of pets that tend to carry them. Clean your home on a regular basis to eliminate breeding grounds for the ticks and fleas. Finally, make sure your dogs and cats don't come into contact with ticks and fleas.
If you can't seem to get rid of your fleas and ticks, you might consider a natural flea treatment remedy. This can be as simple as changing your dog's food to one without flea attraction. Another option is to try herbal medications that repel ticks. Or you can speak with your veterinarian about other products that might work for you.
Flea and tick control should be taken seriously. Pets need to be cared for properly so that they will not develop an allergy that will cause serious health problems. When properly cared for, your dog will live a long, healthy life. If you take the time to learn about how to prevent and treat flea problems you will be able to give your pet the care it needs while keeping the cost of veterinary pet care low.

Do you have a flea control regime for the Sisters? I have just had a flea infestation explode on me from I know where not! All my babies are indoor creatures who have never been outside. I tried an herbal spray as I just can't put chemicals on the furlings but so far no luck. I'm going to try Dawn dish soap and white vinegar next as I hear it is the ults cure. I want to be able to treat them preventative too though when I get it under control. Any special thing you do for your babies?
I’m afraid I don’t -- like yours, mine are strictly indoor, and they had a very thorough flea treatment at the shelter, so they’ve been flea-free since coming home.
If your cats are strictly indoor it’s possible you brought the fleas in -- they do occasionally hop a ride on a human who does go outside, or if you’ve been around outdoor critters lately one of them may have passed you some.
Flea treatments have come a long way since the last time we had cats with fleas, so I can’t make any recommendations. I know that dish soap is useful for drowning fleas in water when bathing them or combing them, but I’ve never heard of it used as a spray, I would be very hesitant to try that.
Your vet may be the best person to talk to about preventative care if you don’t want to go the chemical route -- they might even have a pamphlet or something if you give them a call. Sorry I can’t be more help!

Where to Buy Flea Medication
https://www.centralparkpaws.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/519ikQESumL.jpg
This past weekend my husband and I were out walking the pups when we saw a kitten sitting behind a nursing home.
I walked down to see if it had tags so that I could get it back home, but there were no tags.
Long story short, the kitten was born near the nursing home and had no family.
Of course, I went back and scooped her up.
I brought her to the vet. She checked out okay, so I set out on a mission to find a home for the kitten.
Within hours, good friends of ours contacted me and said they would love to give her a home.
Buying Flea Medication Online
I was telling my friend that I had brought her into the vet where they gave me a free dose of Frontline to take care of any fleas.
I then asked if she wanted me to go back and grab more for her, but she declined, saying they always got their flea preventatives online because it is both cheaper and more convenient than running to the vet.
I had some questions about her online experiences since I traditionally picked up all of my pets’ medicine from our vet.
With three dogs and cat, any chance of saving money is always welcome!
I did some research on several online stores to see where I could get the best deals and to read what other customers were saying about their experience.
Here’s what I found.
What to Look for in Online Pharmacies
It is not that I didn’t know about vet meds being available online. I didn’t order online because I didn’t trust the stores.
Being an active member of the pet community and regularly reading a variety of pet articles, I have come upon more than a few reports pointing out the dangers of ordering online.
Of course, this was years ago when it first started becoming more popular.
Over time, things have changed in the regulations and safety of getting meds online.
After completing my research, I have found multiple reputable online pharmacies.
Here’s a list of things I was looking for regarding the purchase of medication from various websites.
I will note that not all of the following restrictions are applicable for flea preventatives (Some may focus on human, not pet, pharmacies).
Vet-VIPPS (Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites) accredited[1]
Check legitscript.com to see if they are a registered pharmacy[2]
Check to see if they are Safe Pharmacy[3] approved
Make sure they are a US-based pharmacy; different countries have different regulations on medications
Check the Better Business Bureau to see if they are in good standing
Make sure a prescription is required for prescription drugs
The reason to take caution when buying online is that online pharmacies that are not accredited have been known to provide wrong, ineffective, or out-of-date medications, all of which can put your dog at risk for medical complications.

Like I said, I have always gotten my flea medication from my vet.
They even offer an online store through Midwest Veterinary Supply, making things easy to order.
Their online ordering link directs you to three different websites:
Two are for farm animals and the third is for domestic pets.
The major downside to ordering through this site is that it’s isn’t as easy and straightforward as many of the other sites listed here.
You’ll probably have to get a prescription from your vet before you can order here, as well, which kinds of negates the convenience of ordering online.

Recommendations
The first thing I will say after completing my research is that I am absolutely blown away by the large variety of flea medications on the market.
“Wan” is Japanese for “woof,” so is this collar only effective against Japanese fleas?
I was familiar with several of the brands, but to be honest, the majority of the brands were new to me.
My first recommendation when shopping online for flea medications, whether it is over the counter or prescription, is to be sure that you find a reputable online store.
In my research, I was disturbed by the comments I found regarding those who exercised less caution, and their pups paid the price.
Overall, I think Chewy.com offers the most competitive pricing for pet medications, especially with auto-ship.
However, as you can see above, I did note three common flea medications and who had the best pricing for each.
The drawback of ordering medicine online is that there are two delays.
The first delay would be for the prescription to be verified, and the second would be for the shipping.
Neither delays would be something you would deal with when picking up flea medication from your vet.
Conclusion
Having three dogs is expensive, and I am all for saving money, but not at the expense of my dogs’ health.
However, after researching online shopping, I found that I could save over $100 a year on flea preventative and almost $900 a year on all other medications by buying their medication online!
My final thought is that it is well worth the time to shop around for flea medications.

Pet Wellness - Veterinary Medicine Loses to Big Pharma
Well it's confirmed. The takeover of veterinary medicine in the US and other first world nations is confirmed. Big Pharma has finally made it to the finish line. Should pet owners and their pets be happy about this take over? Well, I wouldn't start planning the party just yet because according to many vets out there this is not something to be happy about. What does this mean for pet wellness and natural pet health care?
Because of the massive profits that can be generated through pets, these drug companies for decades have spent much time and effort in an aggressive campaign to rewrite vet school curricula, influencing veterinarians and brainwashing pet owners into thinking their pets need drugs in order to thrive and be healthy. Thanks to advertising funded by greedy uncaring drug companies, most consumers already show a cult like belief in pharmaceutical medicine. So, for Big Pharma it was easy to convince pet owners that their animals need the same.
It is common practice nowadays for vets in the US to practice chemical based medicine on pets. Immediately upon diagnosis, the pet owner is given a prescription of an expensive patented pharmaceutical - a so called instant fix to be given to their pet. If this is not enough, the FDA has given approval for Prozac, a super mind altering drug prescribed to dogs, as well as many common drugs for people are now being used on pets. This includes chemotherapy drugs for cancer treatment. Alongside this, common pet ailments such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and depression are also being treated with harmful medications without even the mention of natural pet health care as a healing property.
Needless to say, pet wellness is now in rapid decline and pet owners really need to be vigilant in their pet wellness practices, and look for a better option to heal their pet's illness. Any vet practicing for more than ten years will tell you that the result of the Big Pharma take over is that dogs and cats and other animals are sicker than ever. These vets have seen an increase in the rate of liver disease, nervous system disorders, cancers and diabetes. This is because pets are being regularly poisoned by bad pet food and medicines. Even popular flea and tick medication on their own are highly toxic to your pet's liver.
Big Pharma influence has turned veterinary medicine into a joke, right alongside the conventional medicine system for humans. No longer is the goal of medicine to heal anyone. The goal now is to profit by treating managing diseases without actually curing or preventing them. Why would they do this? Connect the dots. To benefit from repeat business and a lucrative one at that! Let me not even touch on the rates veterinarians are charging these days particularly in emergency care. The fees are outrageous! And the audacity of pet clinics who are taking advantage of people's kindness when they rescue a pet charging $500. for saline solution! These pet clinics are exploiting human kindness for high profit. How many people do you think will now have no choice but to think twice before they rescue a wounded or helpless animal?
So what do pet owners do when faced with a situation where their precious pet needs medical help? Thankfully there is another route for pet wellness with holistic practitioners in veterinary medicine. These practitioners are more plentiful in veterinary medicine than in human medicine.
Why the pet wellness route of pet natural health care is the direction to go.
1. Holistic veterinarians understand nutrition, herbs, homeopathy and other natural modalities.
2. Holistic veterinarians prescribe solutions and treat animals in ways that are outlawed in human medicine - because these solutions have a silver lining - they work!
3. Holistic vets are more often in their line of business for the love of animals and the belief in a natural system of medications for ailments. This makes them human as opposed to donkeys that are always trying to pave their financial future by exploiting sick animals and the love pet owners have for their pets.
My dog's holistic vet, Dr. Andrew Jones once made a statement that I have never forgotten. "Any vet who thinks a dog is depressed and needs antidepressants should frankly have their license revoked and banished to a distant island over populated with sexually aggressive baboons!" I wish I could somehow show you the expression on his face when he said this and how although I laughed from his choice of words I also thought - this guy is seriously angry about the situation. Not surprising as he is one those vets who do what he does for the love of animals and his belief in natural medicine.
When we look at the horrifying toxicity in pet foods in combination with pharmaceutical medicine, the future of mainstream pet wellness is quite dim. Many brands of pet food claiming to be "scientific" brands are really just crap. Only specialty pet food companies offer genuinely healthy, toxic free pet food.
Mainstream veterinary practices amount to nothing more than chemical abuse of dogs, cats and other animals. Sadly, this industry has swiped ethics for profit and no longer has any interest in helping to improve the quality of life of our pets. Nutrition has been dismissed and replaced with a system of chemical invasion leading to worsening long term health. The same has been taking place in human health care for years now, which is why holistic practitioners in human and pet health care are speaking out and giving us another avenue of hope for ourselves and our pets.
The proper use of pharmaceuticals
Pet wellness practices tell us it is important to understand the other side of the coin for just a minute. Some chemical medications do have a role in quality veterinary care. For example:
1. Pain killers - have a useful but limited role.
2. Antibiotics - can be helpful in certain situations.
Be careful because antibiotics, even in human medicine are massively abused around the world.
Be wary that treating dogs and cats with antidepressants, chemotherapy, diabetes drugs, statin drugs, osteoporosis drugs and other such chemical agents is absurd.
Make no mistake that most pet health conditions can be prevented and cured with good nutrition. More problematic health ailments can be economically and safely solved with herbal therapies and naturopathic modalities best known as natural pet health care.
Pet Wellness Things to Do - Right Now!
1. Switch to a healthy, natural, holistic pet diet. Make fresh meals from scratch whenever possible. Dr. Jones told me that pets should not be raised to live regularly on processed foods. Read the report: Pet Food Ingredients Revealed
2. Take an appointment with a holistic vet to investigate how he is a more suitable practitioner for your pet. Because state authorities are trying to de-license naturopathic vets, holistic or naturopathic animal care experts often do not have the same licensing credentials as regular vets. This is happening because Big Pharma owns state licensing boards and naturopathic animal care experts pose a threat to their newly found gold mine. You will most likely have to seek out naturopathic animal care experts on your own and ignore the state licensing boards. Dr. Jones explained to me that in his experience he has found that licensing credentials are essentially useless. Often times the more credentials a vet has the more deeply he is brainwashed into a pharmaceutical approach to veterinary medicine. Please consider replacing your regular vet with a holistic or naturopathic animal care expert once you have completed your investigations.
3. Go back to basics. Nutrition, exercise, disease preventing and natural pet health care.

TOP 6 DOG COAT ISSUES & WAYS TO FIX THEM | BEST SHAMPOOS FOR DOG COAT
SEVERAL COAT ISSUES & HOW TO FIX THEM WITH SHAMPOO
All dog owners desire good skin and a lustrous, fluffy coat for their pets. Depending on your dog's breed, this could be a difficult job. Dog coats come in a number of types, and as a groomer, you can find coats that are difficult to handle.
Some coat issues:
DRY SKIN:
Dry skin in dogs can be exacerbated by their (and your) living conditions. Your dog's skin condition can change and become itchy during the winter, when heating is used more frequently and at a higher temperature. Dry skin in dogs is not a major health problem and can be quickly handled unless the dog is actively scratching himself. Unique shampoos, such as those available from your veterinarian, can be beneficial to your dog. However, a dry atmosphere is likely to be the root of the problem; a humidifier in the home can help keep your dog more relaxed.
2. HAIR LOSS (ALOPECIA):
Alopecia (hair loss) is another skin disease in dogs that can be caused by a variety of factors. If your dog's fur is falling out, take them to your doctor for an examination to save yourself and your dog from needless stress. It's typically caused by your dog scratching or licking an itchy region, which may be caused by ringworm (a fungal infection, not a worm), bacteria, or common skin parasites like fleas, ticks, mites, and lice.
3. PARASITES:
Fleas, ticks, and lice are all common skin parasites in dogs. Itching, inflammation, skin lesions, and hair loss are some of the symptoms they can cause. The majority of cases can be successfully handled, but your dog may need long-term care in some cases. Any of them can have an effect on humans. Take a look at our article on fleas, ticks, and other parasites to learn more about what you can do to tackle the epidemic.
4. SKIN ALLERGY:
If your dog is regularly exposed to a substance – the ‘allergen' – that triggers the reaction, they can develop skin allergies. This occurs when the immune system releases antibodies, which cause the release of inflammatory substances, resulting in itching. You'll watch your dog - often its belly, flanks and ears - or rub the face and chew the paws. Their skin will become inflamed (dermatitis), and lesions and dog skin infections, as well as hair loss and darkened skin tone, may develop.
5. HOT SPOTS:
A hot spot, also known as acute moist dermatitis, is an inflamed and irritated region of skin inflammation caused by a dog licking and chewing itself. Since secondary Staphylococcus infection causes the top layers of the skin to break down and pus to become stuck in the scalp, a hot spot may appear and spread quickly in a matter of hours. Corticosteroid medications, oral or topical antibiotics, and hair clipping around the lesion may all be used to treat hot spots. Flea allergy dermatitis or other allergic skin disorders are among the underlying causes. Hot spots are more likely to develop in dogs with heavy undercoats.
6. HIVES:
Hives are another skin issue that your dog may develop over the course of its life. Hives are a form of allergic reaction that can affect humans, dogs, and other animals. Hives appear as itchy, raised bumps on the skin. Since these bumps are raised, the fur on the dog's coat sticks out in places, and swelling may occur in other parts of the body, such as the eyelids. Hives, unlike other allergic reactions, occur quickly and grow within half an hour of exposure to an allergen.
