I can't think of a single "dudebro" media where the protagonist and his best friend actually had a romantic relationship, writers love to gaybait to extract that clout from fujos but when it comes to it they're too cowards to not fold for their primarily male audience.

The protagonist might flirt with other men as a (lowkey homophobic) joke, and make fun of you for falling for it and thinking it's sincere. But worry not! He's a straight a man, doesn't matter how much accidental chemistry we wrote between him and his friend making his romantic relationships with women fall flat in comparison because we don't care about writing women in general especially the ones who are supposed to be love interests since she's already a woman and that is like the only thing that actually matters ig.
