on the surface, the destiel mixtape is already crazy — the music dean’s parents fell in love over, the michaelangelo of it all, the inherent vulnerability and tenderness of making someone a physical compilation of the songs you hold most dear, we’ve all talked about this.

but you peel back the layers and it just gets crazier. “it’s a gift, you keep those” is a lord of the rings reference (paralleling dean and cas with aragorn and arwen is like. next level insane) AND we know that one of dean’s favorite songs is ramble on which references lord of the rings in its lyrics and it’s just like. this tiny little scene is packed so full of meaning and it’s SO deeply and undeniably romantic. i’m eating glass

I feel like we don’t talk about the mix tape nearly enough! LIKE HUH! I’m sorry! Dean spent time making cas a mix tape of his favorite zeppelin tracks!?!?!? Huh!!!! Like!!!! I’m sorry what?! He spent time to make that (which it isn’t easy as it would be to make a cd) (so he took time out of his hectic insane life to make this for cas) and when did he give it to cas?!? How?!? maybe everything there is to say about the mixtape has been said but its so, so crazy that they just dropped that on us with ZERO preamble, there is no scene, no mention, of Dean giving the mixtape in the first place cause obviously that scene would be too [GUNSHOTS] but by showing the mixtape there retroactively MUST have been a scene of Dean giving Cas a mixtape!

this shot is quite literally insane dude I could write a whole essay about it. The director was like “Oh hey guys let’s do a close up on their hands to emphasize the importance of this gesture (as if making someone a mixtape isn’t already romantic enough), their fingers just inches apart to show have close but yet far away they are, that they share these little moments of intimacy but the weight of the unspoken feelings lingers heavy in the air oh and yeah let’s also make it look like the god damn fucking Michelangelo painting.. but nothing to see here.”
