that kid mack took under his wing, adopted him as a little brother, saved him from an already abusive home and became the family the kid had never had, slowly taught him what its like to actually be a kid like lightning never got the chance to be before — turning him into a person who sits in the passenger seat of the truck and watches out the window as they pass by new places every day, who sings along to the radio and expresses himself and his interests that he’s always had to mask before..

mack having to watch harv Undo all of it. taking lightning back to a similar state he was when mack first met him. he can do nothing but watch as those singing sessions on long drives turn into lightning laying in his bunk waiting for harv to call macks phone — as harv poisons lightnings mind and makes him even more self destructive and damaged than he ever was before… all mack can do is keep trying and never changing his treatment in hopes that his real little brother will come back one day.
