Matinee Act 1

- the show started 15 minutes late because jasmine called out last minute, so a lot of my notes are about the weird split tracks

- michael!helena debut! they sang down the octave and it was incredible, but also unfortunately a lot of people laughed at it

- philippe did a foot pop during the second kissed a girl kiss and I lost my shit

- philippe had his glasses on top of his head during the engagement announcement

- phil was the one who said “i’m obsessed with you shakespeare”

- there were only 3 players dancing at the end of show me the meaning (michael, ava, and tiernan)

- alaina covered jasmine’s section with the romeo fan club during overprotected

- no one to help phil flip map so he just realized it was upside down on his own

Matinee Act 2

- ben found me while they were on the ferris wheel and raised his eyebrows in surprise at me it was very funny

still thinking about everything earlier. i think one thing i haven't seen people touch on is jimmy's motivations. it's about control at the end of the day. it's why he shows no remorse for the people he's committing horrible acts against but freaks the fuck out when daisuke gets mortally wounded in front of swansea, who already hates him. it's why he's upset when anyone asks him to do anything around the ship. it's why he's screaming about how hard his position as acting captain is. he refuses to deal with the consequences of his actions already but is TERRIFIED when it seems like he might. he has to have absolute control over the entire situation and any act of free will from anyone else is like a personal attack. the only reason he caused the crash is because he wholeheartedly believed everyone would die; his world & mental state are crumbling around him because dying slowly over a period of 6-8 months IS a consequence, but since it's not immediate he still has the power to assume control in place of his fall guy & change the narrative in his favor as much as possible. the only person who knows the truth can't say anything, nobody's listening to him At All anymore anyway. and i think he only "feels remorse" for curly in spite of every effort on his part to ruin his career, beat him once he's helpless and monologue to him in front of the crew's corpses about how the crash was His Fault, because he still hopes in the back of his mind he can "fix things". he's terrified of death and prolonging it as long as possible, and only keeping curly alive so someone else can take the blame. and while i do think him putting curly in that pod was a way to clear his conscience and have a sliver of a chance to come out a "hero," in the end he still found killing himself a preferable end. because he couldn't afford the chance that, should curly magically be rescued and be able to communicate anything about the shipment, he would turn on him after everything he's been put through.

everything from the beginning has been about jimmy controlling the narrative, controlling the crew, controlling everyone's behaviors and actions in his favor. it didn't matter if they liked or respected him, just that they listened & he benefitted. and he couldn't even let that go when everything went to shit because of him.
