Honestly I'm more fucked up from the drive here lol. I really only met Laika once at Birdie's birthday party. Whatever happened to his dad was deserved

#My mom is also an alcoholic that should not have a license #She had a huge crash when I was in fourth grade because she was driving drunk and hit a truck on the wrong side of the road #Almost died. Spent a long time in the hospital then in a wheelchair after that #She had to have a breathalyzer in her car for a few years after that #Physically she's fine now. But yeah I'm connecting to a lot of feelings I have regarding the situation #She was just driving down the road to get more alcohol #I feel very strongly about drunk drivers. Stupid reckless pieces of shit. Babies who can't wait an extra 3 hours to sober up #ripley rambles

#today's romano #hetalia #aph romano #hws romano #02.23.2024 #yesterday was not very nice for me #i was rained on a lot #and a stupid lifted truck splashed me with water #and at night on my way home from the lab #my first bus was so late i was going to miss my transfer to the second #and apparently I looked so miserable when the first bus driver said this #that he also said he would fix it #so the night manager drove me home on a spare mini bus #like legit to my front door #i didnt have to walk 0.4 miles from stop to home in the rain #(also missing my transfer meant i had to wait roughly and hour for the next bus)#however today is gonna be a good day #we have a grad student social tonight #and its board game night #im bringing as many as i can carry with me today #ive got catan #ive got codenames #ive got one night werewolf #ive got exploding kittens #and almost every expansion pack #ive got three decks of playing cards #(theory11 is anyone else a collector?)#and a few others that are fun but not as well know #the department only has uno sushi go and coup #which are fun but ill single-handedly quadruple the board games

Welp in my attempt to leave my full time job and start working part time re: crushing burnout, I have instead ended up with two part time jobs working more or less the same amount of hours

i hate how cds are being phased out (at least around here) its so stupid

like i get “oh now we have spotify” and shit but???

like, you buy a cd, no ads, nothing, you pay for the cd, and maybe a player. thats all?

no subscription needed. no ads. nothing.

why?? whats the point? i get it, playlists are easy and portable, but ? just because one works “better” in some peoples opinions?

honestly, the idea of not being able to listen to anything and i mean anything without having to either listen to ads or pay to have no ads is just fucking sad.

physical media will always be better in my opinion

is there anything more frustrating than "well i COULD have been here within about 40 minutes, but it took over twice as long for no fucking reason at all", really

#tütensuppe #at least my coworkers can sympathize they also have long commutes #and are subject to the shitshow that is deutsche bahn #the section thats just clogged completely all day long is an intersection in a major industrial area #so like a million freight trucks go through every day #there is no reason for it to be solid dark red on maps for hours on end!!! literally nothing unusual is going on there #i THINK its bc a) some lanes merge in several places #b) multiple traffic lights and truck drivers are impatient so they drive even if theres not enough space for the whole vehicle #to clear the intersection so it blocks the road until there is space again (have witnessed this lots of times)#in the meantime cars pile up at the light in the other direction bc the intersection is blocked!#this goes back and forth a few times. everyone is pissed. nothing is moving forward.

A PSA about trucks from a truck driver

I and some colleagues were talking about how we wish everyone could see the safety videos that our company was showing us, because I don’t think most people understand how traffic works in a truck. So here’s some things we wish everyone on the road knew.

- we’re not kidding about tailgating. If you’re right behind us on a straight highway? Chances are we have NO IDEA you’re there, which means we can’t anticipate any of your movements. Plus slowing down takes multiple downshifts, so we might start decreasing speed way earlier than you expect.

- We’re not kidding about any of our blind spots. WE CAN’T SEE YOU, GUYS.

- That bit about slowing down taking a while? The same goes for when you’re in front of us. Don’t cut off a truck. Oh god, PLEASE don’t cut off a truck. If you cut me off, I’m not irritated, I’m terrified. For YOU. It can take 7 to 9 seconds for us to stop. DON’T CUT OFF TRUCKS.

- Before you get mad about how slow we’re going on the highway, keep in mind that many companies govern their vehicles so they literally CAN’T go over 60 or 65. This is a good thing, I promise. Because…

- Do you know what happens when a car meets a truck in an accident? The car gets totaled and the truck needs a new coat of paint. You will not win this fight. I know nobody likes getting stuck behind a big dumb truck, but it’s not worth your life.

We are trying our best to protect you from our 80,000 pound death machines. Please help us out.

I love this and agree, but please note: USPS is not funded by taxpayer dollars. It has to be a self sufficient organization, just with laws governing more of its day to day operations than a business typically would have.
