Coming of age
Ao3: here
Characters: Takenouchi Sora
Words: 1200+
Notes: Nothing much to say, this idea just hit me, and I will never stop being a sucker for Sora. What a queen.
Enjoy!
“What are we talking about?” Sora was usually the first one at class, because she simply could not stand being late. Somehow, she could manage jogging her two jobs, one being with her always strict mother, and still being the first one to arrive to the classroom. However, that day she lost approximately two minutes at her before school ritual, which ended up catching the train after her usual one, and not arrive late to class, but not being the first one there, either.
Sora was in her second year of university, going full into her fashion designer classes. She was in an all-girls university, which was quite different from how she grew up and high school, considering her closest girl friends had fought alongside with her to save the world. Of course, she still had managed to be friendly with her classmates, they had been nothing but kind to her, but she had to admit they could get quite gossipy.
“Sora! We were worried about you, even thought a new monster was attacking town or something,”
“Ha, ha, you guys are so funny!” Sora sat on her usual seat, right behind Misaki, a petite brunette who could not be paid to keep a secret and next to Youko, her closest friend in class, even if she would not admit it to Misaki, or the fourth member of her group, Akari, a dark-haired designer prodigy, who always had the newest gossips in town. “But seriously, you all seemed very invested in your conversation.”
“But are you okay? You are never late for class,” Youko asked, sincerely concerned.
“I am not technically late, am I?” Sora laughed it off, pointing at her hot beverage she was holding in her reusable flask. “There was a longer line than usual to get my matcha, and had to run some errands for my mom, nothing too crazy.”
“So, you were not with that mysterious boyfriend of yours?” Akari asked, an eyebrow raised. Sora immediately felt her stomach flip, she had never introduced Yamato to her little university crew, nothing personal, but Yamato, and her childhood friends, were a whole separate set, and mixing up her friend groups somehow made her very nervous.
“What do you mean mysterious?” Sora had known Yamato for almost ten years of her life, which made pretty much half of it. To her Yamato was everything but mysterious.
“You know, he drives a motorcycle, wears leather jackets… plus I heard he had a rock band a few years back!” Misaki had clearly done her homework stalking Yamato, Sora did not know whether to laugh about it or be concerned.
“Why the sudden interest in my boyfriend?” Sora took out her laptop and pieces of fabric while trying not to focus on the three pair of eyes staring at her. Plus, she was not the only one late, it seemed, their teacher had apparently also taken longer in line for their chosen hot beverage.
“You never mention him, nor anything about your secret life,” Akari had an imposing vibe to her, it made Sora unstable.
“Perhaps she doesn’t tell us because you both make too many questions,” Sora had to be grateful for Youko, who stepped in for her, just as their teacher walked into the classroom.
.
“Do you actually believe Yamato is mysterious?” Sora and Youko had this little tradition of going out for dinner every other week on Wednesday. On this occasion, they both were craving Korean barbeque.
“I mean, not to give Misaki too many points, but he does fit the archetype,” Sora chuckled and tried to imagine her boyfriend from a stranger’s point of view. For starters, he was blonde, which of course would catch anyone’s attention, and Misaki and Akari were right, he drove a motorcycle and wore leather jackets. The few times he had dropped her off at school she could not believe the number of stares she was receiving from her fellow future designers.
“He is actually very sweet, I bet if they heard him talk about The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars all their idea of Yamato being a mysterious bad boy would fade away…”
The restaurant they had chosen was packed. On Wednesdays, it had a cocktail special, which made it extremely popular amongst low income earning students.
“I mean, I would not say he is the most mysterious one amongst both of you, at least from him we know he was in a band.”
“What do you mean?” Sora asked surprised as she placed more veggies on the grill.
“Leaving Misaki and Akari apart, I have known you for what? A year and a half? Yet I barely know anything about you, at least not more than a job recruiter would know. I know what you study, where you work, but not much more. And I respect it, I would never want to feel like I am pushing you, but you must be the opposite from an open book.”
“Wow…” Sora stared at the grill and flipped the colorful elements cooking on it. Youko was not wrong, Sora did keep a lot to herself. She could not help it, talking about herself made her feel vulnerable, and she had learned her whole life not to be it. “I am so sorry, and it has nothing on me not trusting you but…”
“I guess you did not have a normal childhood, am I right? I mean, I remember seeing you and your friends on freaking TV when we were what, eleven? I could have never gone through what you and your friends all did, I don’t blame you for keeping it to yourself, it must have been traumatic. Hell, it was traumatic for me, and I lived it all through the outside.”
Sora was astonished. She had only talked about the Digital World and its shenanigans with her fellow Chosen Children, and sometimes she did with her mom. She did too, with Piyomon and most often with Yamato. She had never dared to imagine how the experience must have been for people on the outside, to spectators who were, of course, also going through the same trauma, just in a different way.
“Do anyone who’s grown in the 21st century has had normal childhoods, Jeez.” Sora asked for another cocktail round, and between sips of their alcoholic beverages, she went through all the details of her story, from watching a gigantic dinosaur fight a gigantic parrot when she was five, to being sucked by a wave on her summer camp.
She had never come clean to anyone so deeply outside of her inner circle, and she felt a huge pressure off her shoulders. Perhaps she tended to believe no one else would understand her if they had not gone through the same things she had. Perhaps she tended to believe she was not allowed to have a life outside of her Chosen Children persona.
That night, she had not only had fantastic food, but Sora felt something inside her had come together. Apart from feeling, for the first time in a while she had someone new to count on, her adult self was seemingly coming together, and she could not wait to talk about it with her mysterious boyfriend and digital friend.

Imagine:
Erik walks in on his homeboys sister stepping out of the shower and she is embarrassed/ has a huge crush on him.
Warnings: Smut. Flash back.
Micheal and Yara.
Two siblings from Oakland who decided to get an apartment near Telegraph Ave so that Yara could study at Berkeley. Yara is currently studying Art History there and she will be graduating in May at the age of 21. Micheal, her older brother, is into graphic design and web development so he works for a small company creating websites for Architectural businesses. He also does free lance work on the side to earn extra cash so he can afford living in their expensive apartment. Micheal and Yara’s parents are divorced. Their father lives in San Francisco city and their mother lives where Micheal and Yara are with her new husband in Alameda County. Yara used to live with her mother but she didn’t get along with her step father. Micheal brought up the idea of sharing an apartment to Yara since his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Evette decided that she didn’t want to move in with him.
Currently, Micheal and Evette are arguing about Micheal's whereabouts last Friday evening. Yara was trying to take a nap in her room before her late shift at 9:00 PM as a bar tender. Tossing and turning in her bed covered in fluffy white sheets, Yara groaned loudly before throwing her sheets back, temples pounding with a tension headache that Yara tries to sooth by massaging them but it doesn’t work. Only in a Metallica T-shirt, Yara grabs a pair of Champions sweatpants from her dresser, sliding her feet in her canary yellow UGG slippers, and walking out of her bedroom. Yara’s eardrums damn near bust when she stepped into the hallway of the apartment. Rubbing the cold from her eyes, Yara walked out into the living room area coming face to face with the source of the commotion.
“STOP LYING!” Evette, Short, petite, reminded Yara of Keyshia Cole because of her bright red hair and nose piercing, tossed a decorative pillow at Micheal from across the room. Micheal caught it with his quick reflexes before placing it back on the couch. He didn’t appear bothered at all by Evette’s screaming and hollering.
“Evette, I ain’t got nothing to lie about. I told you, I was with my boy, Erik. He’s back in town for a little while before he goes back to the Military,” Micheal spoke with a flat tone, eyes bored.
“I don’t believe you. I think you were with some girl. I think you’re out here sticking your dick in some other bitch. When I find out, I’m beating both of yall ass, for real,” Evette threatens Micheal with one of her long acrylic hot pink nails almost jabbing him in the eye.
“This ain’t the first time you accused me of cheating,” Micheal ran his hands down his face, “It’s really getting on my nerves, Evette. The constant trying to go through my phone, picking fights with me, the insecurities. What do I have to lie about? I could have dropped you years ago but no, I care about you too much to do that. Now, I’m just tired of you acting like a damn child.”
“Ahem,” Yara clears her throat.
Micheal and Evette turn towards her.
“Do y’all mind taking this shit somewhere else? I have to work tonight and I can’t sleep with all this yelling.”
“Hi to you too, Yara,” Evette spoke sarcastically.
“Bitch, don’t give me attitude. Do you pay the bills in here?” Yara has her fists balled up like she was ready to hit Evette. Evette simply laughs, staring at Yara like she’s a joke before turning her attention back to Micheal.
“My bad, little sis, Evette was just leaving-“
“WHAT?” Evette’s voice grew loud again.
“You heard me. Bounce. If you don’t trust me I can’t deal with you, Evette.”
Evette folds her arms across her perky chest, “Do you actually mean it this time around or will you be calling me tomorrow night asking to come over? you are famous for that shit, Mike.”
Micheal groans, “I don’t know right now. All I know is I need you to leave so I can clear my head, you know what I’m saying?”
“Okay, clear your head, GOTCHA,” Evette turns around, practically stomping to the door, “Lying ass piece of shit.”
“Don’t slam the door either!”Micheal yells.
BAM!
“Yeah,” Micheal closes his eyes to calm himself.
“You’re better than me. I feel like following her and kicking that bitch down the steps. You need to drop her, Mike. Do you even see what’s going on?”
“Nah, baby sis, tell me what’s up? What am I NOT seeing?”
Yara tilted her head at Micheal with sad eyes. Micheal shrugged his shoulders as if he didn’t understand what Yara was trying to tell him without using words.
“You can be so damn thick-headed sometimes,” Yara threw her hands up matter-of-factually, “Evette is cheating on you, Mike. She’s just trying to give you a reason to end things so she can continue fucking whoever she is fucking without you knowing.”
“Wait...what?” Micheal says with disbelief.
“You’re Girl? The love of your life? She’s fucking someone else, Mike.”
Micheal blinked at Yara with bewildered eyes.
“Listen, fool, while you’re sitting there stuck on stupid, Evette is driving to a dick appointment trying to think of a plan B to get rid of yo’ ass. Just end it with her. The shit is toxic. I don’t even want a nigga to step into my personal space after witnessing the shit you and Evette go through.”
“If Evette is cheating on me...” Micheal didn’t finish his sentence but Yara knew her brother would bring hell to earth if he caught Evette fucking another man. As much as they bickered and broke up, Evette was her brothers first real love. He wouldn’t admit it, but Micheal would be heart broken.
“Then I’m going to whip her ass,” Yara said in her brothers defense, “Nobody fucks with my bro like that.”
“I’ll let you beat her ass too.”
Yara kisses her brothers forehead, “I’m going to go back in bed, I am so exhausted with school- hold up, did you say that you were with Erik?”
“Yeah,” Micheal said whole scrolling through his phone, “He’s back for a little while.”
“I haven’t seen Erik in, like, three years?”
“Yeah, it’s been a long ass time. I thought he forgot about us,” Micheal laughs, “He’ll be here later if you want to catch him before you go to work.”
“Mama was asking about him a few days ago,” Yara says recalling the conversation they both had when she went to visit her. Micheal and Yara’s mother always pulled the photo albums out whenever they came to see her. The photo album she brought out when Yara came over was Micheal’s prom photos. Micheal and Erik went to prom together their senior year.
“Look at Erik! Wasn’t he so skinny?!” Yara’s mama says.
“Yeah, mama, he was swimming in his suit.”
Yara’s eyes twinkled when she stared at Erik’s photo. Her first ever crush. The guy she kissed on a whim when she was 18 and he was 24. Yara felt so embarrassed. Erik simply gave her a kind smile, hugging her tightly. She felt like a silly child. Erik was a grown man. Ever since then, Yara hadn’t seen Erik.
“You Aight?” Micheal looked over at Yara with a smirk.
“I’m fine.”
Yara couldn’t stop thinking about her brothers friend who used to spend the night when they were kids. His friend who wore only a pair of basketball shorts when he slept. His friend who used to stand in Yara’s doorway to her bedroom teasing her.
“You’re not lying to me, are you?”
“No, I’m not,” Yara looked off to the side.
“When you look away like that it’s a sign that you’re lying. You ain’t gotta tell me, it’s probably some nasty shit that I really don’t want to know anyway.”
“Shut up, Mike,” Yara rolls her eyes, turning away to walk back to her room with her middle finger raised behind her, directed towards her brother.
——————
A few hours later:
Erik Stevens stepped off of the elevator within Micheal and Yara’s apartment building on Telegraph Ave. kinky fro freshly shaped up and a new fit and shoes on his feet, Erik checked his text message from Micheal that informed him of what apartment it is.
“9C,” Erik places his phone back inside of his jacket pocket, eyes searching from left to right before spotting the crisp white door with a bronze letter C on it and a tiny peep hole. Erik knocks, the gold Piaget watch on his right wrist making a loud tapping sound against the surface of the door. In under two seconds, Micheal opens the door, a broad smile on his handsome chocolate face when he noticed who it was.
“What’s up, cuz?” Micheal gave Erik dabs, “I ain’t expect you to be over this early, bruh, you good?”
“I’m good, I just needed to get away from CeCe. You know she offered for me to stay at her new place instead of a hotel.”
“You know you have to tell me about all of that, right?” Micheal jokes, holding his door open further for Erik to enter. Erik steps inside, his eyes admiring the urban styled apartment. It was Boho vintage with different shades of browns, greens, and reds. The living room was decorated and furnished with cream colored walls, Urban photographs of Oakland, cactus plants, a standout leather sofa set in a dessert brown color accompanied with khaki colored patch work leather ottomans and an elegantly modern coffee table featuring a round metal tabletop in a brushed, antique brass finish. 60 inch flat screen TV, an acacia wood credenza that Erik was sure is filled with old 70s and 80s records.
“Shit, let me take my shoes off, I don’t want to mess up this nice carpet,” Erik kicks his shoes off near the front door.
“You can put them in that shoe rack right there if you want. Yara got that from the thrift store about a week ago.”
Erik looks up at Micheal with expectant eyes, “Little Yara? She lives with you? what happened with Evette?”
“Long story, bro, Yara and I decided to get a place together close to Berkeley and I work for that new company I was telling you about last weekend so we can commute easier. Plus, you know moms live near us too.”
“Yeah, yeah. So, what is little Yara studying at Berkeley?”
Micheal smiles like a proud older brother, “Art History. She wants to become a Curator.”
“I’ve always seen her working in a museum. She loves history so much,” Erik reminisced with a slight smirk, “Is she here?”
“Straight back there-Wait.”
Erik was ready to rush back to see her.
“Let me see if she’s decent. She gotta work in about a few hours.”
“No problem, bruh, I’ll chill out here.”
Erik watches Micheal walk to the back of the apartment where the rooms are. Taking a seat on the leather couch, Erik strokes his beard, thinking about Yara. He hadn’t seen her in three years. He wondered how different she looked. By different he meant mature and filled out like a women. Back when she was just 18 years of age, Yara was so petite and athletic since she played Lacrosse, braces on her teeth, and so sweet and innocent. From what Micheal told Erik last weekend when they went out to a Hookah bar for Boys night, Yara gained weight. Micheal joked about it, typical sibling teasing, but Erik wished he could have seen a picture. Now, his mind went back to when Yara kissed him the night of her graduation party before Erik left to start his JSOC training. He honestly didn’t know how to respond. Yara looked like her world came crashing down when he didn’t reciprocate the same feelings. She was much younger than him, Erik has her by six years. She was 18 and he was 24. Yeah, Yara was legal but it still felt weird. He always knew little Yara had a crush on him and he surely didn’t want Micheal to know about it.
“She’s still asleep,” Micheal walked back out with a generous bag filled with an eighth of top-shelf weed, “You want to smoke a blunt and tell me about this bitch named CeCe?”
———————
Yara. Don’t forget. The history project is due tomorrow night. Since you’re group lead, you have to submit it.
Yara rolls her eyes at the group chat she was in with her fellow History classmates. That assignment was the last thing on her damn mind. Yara closes her Mac, stretching her curvy body out like a cat before getting up from her comfy bed. Like a strong wind, the smell of kush hit her nose. Yara noticed that her bedroom door is cracked. Micheal must have come to check on her. Yara slips on a pair of Champion Reverse Weave drawstring shorts that were folded on the end of her bed in a pink color, bed hair and all, walking out of her room and towards the living room. When she entered the hallway, two male voices could be heard. It finally dawned on Yara who the other male present could be.
Erik.
Yara walks to the bathroom, deciding to wipe her face off and brush her teeth. She still needed to shower but that could wait until she ate something. Admiring her hair, Yara reaches up to pull her hair tie from her curly hair, fluffing it out and shaking her head so it wouldn’t look like she just rolled out of bed. Yara then brushes her teeth, using her water closer afterwards. Satisfied, Yara takes in a deep breath to try and calm the butterflies in her stomach before walking out of the bathroom and towards the living room area.
“So, you’re telling me that CeCe is trying to hook you up with someone? why are you there?”
“You know she likes playing match made in heaven. CeCe is cool, Mike, I know me and her used to fuck around before I left but it ain’t even like that now. Just a friend helping out a friend. No big thing.”
Micheal chuckles, “E, I know you, man. You had all that pussy around you to play with and you ain’t have a taste? Nigga-“
“Like I said, nah. I don’t want that anymore or her friend she’s trying to get me with. Her friend just wants to know how the dick CeCe used to get is really about. You can look at me like that all you want. Everything is temporary. I’m shopping for a house right now-“
“You can just sleep on our couch-“
“I’m too big for this fucking couch,” Erik laughs, “Once my house is built from the ground up, you’ll see that it was all worth it. And you know I can’t stay with our other friends they gon’ get me caught up and I don’t need to be in jail.”
Erik takes a puff of weed before handing it over to Mike.
Micheal accepts the weed, instantly smoking it before letting the smoke out from his nose, “You’re a changed man, E. Got a house in the works, left the hood to pursue your dreams of being this J.I Joe motherfucker,” Erik playfully jabs Micheal in his ribs, “Seeiously, man, I’m proud of you. Wait until Yara sees you, bruh.”
Erik licks his lips before raising a single brow, “What you mean by that?
“She ain’t gonna believe this the same Erik from three years ago. What you do? Get inside of the same machine as Captain America?”
“Funny, nigga.”
Yara didn’t reveal herself just yet. She just wanted to hear him talk. Erik’s voice definitely appeared deeper. Raspy, then husky, then deep and gruff. When he genuinely laughed it was still just as light as before. Yara peeked out into the living room. A tiny gasp escaped her mouth. Kinky fro, muscles, facial hair, and tiny scars on his arms is what she noticed first. Micheal was right, this was Erik 2.0. Then, whenever he talked; those lush lips moving, Yara saw gold canines in his mouth. He looked so rough and scruffy. The Military definitely made him harder.
“Yara, stop being nosy!” Micheal yells. Yara almost jumped where she stood. She was so in tune with her thoughts that she hadn’t realized how close she’d gotten into the living room.
“Shut up Mike!” Yara fired back. With nervous eyes, Yara looked over at Erik. He didn’t speak, all he did was look fixedly at her with his eyes wide open. It was as if time stood still and she was the only thing that mattered in that room. Even the weed in Erik’s hand could burn to ash.
“Hi, Erik,” Yara couldn’t stop herself from grinning when Erik smiled at her with his dimples.
“Little Yara, what’s going on girl!” Erik hands Micheal the blunt back before standing from the couch, walking over to Yara with his arms outstretched for her to give him a big hug. Yara walks up to Erik, giggling nervously before bringing her arms around his waist, squeezing him. Erik rocked Yara back and forth while his chin rested on top of her curly head. Erik then brings his lips down to kiss Yara’s forehead before pulling her away to get a good look at her.
Heart shaped face, dimple in her chin, glittering eyes fringed with long eyelashes that reminded him of maple syrup, silken skin like cinnamon, ebony ringlets that made her thick but arched brows pop, lips full and glossy with a prominent Cupid’s bow. Erik’s eyes burned with desire when he gazed at Yara’s voluptuous, curvy, ample, and generous body. She really filled out from the last time he saw her. Mike can joke all he wants but Yara looked...
Erik covered his eyes with his hands, a suppressed laugh escaping his mouth before he opened his arms wide for her to hug him again. Yara giggles, stepping back into his embrace again to accept his hug. He smelled like patchouli. Tall, brawny, chiseled, broad-shouldered, and hulking, Yara couldn’t get over how comfortable she felt within Erik’s embrace. The deep baritone of his voice made her shiver.
“Look at you girl, all grown up. Crazy how that happened in three years, right?”
“That’s what I’m saying,” Yara turned her face away timidly, “So, how is the Military treating you? I mean...” Yara looks Erik up and down with a shake of her head, “It seems like it’s treating you nice. Go hard or go home, right?
“Treating me like I’m a piece of shit but it’s worth it,” Erik laughs, “The Military transformed me.”
Yes it did
“You do look great, I almost didn’t recognize you sitting on that couch. The hair, the muscles, the scars...”
Yara looked at them, her hand extending out suddenly to touch a row of scars that looked freshly raised against his skin.
“Don’t.”
Yara jolted upright, her hand jerking away. His voice and the look he gave her had her shrank in front of him.
“Shit, my bad, girl. You don’t want to touch these. Bad memories. That’s all, little Yara, I’m sorry.”
“It’s...it’s okay,” Yara steps away, shifting from one foot to the other, “Good to see you though, Erik.”
“You too, girl,” Erik scratched his beard before reluctantly turning away from Yara to take his seat next to Micheal on the couch. Yara watched him walk away while tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. The way they greeted eachother felt so different. Erik wasn’t only physically changed, He’s mentally changed too.
“Shouldn’t you be getting ready for work?” Micheal stretched his slender tattoo covered arms above his head.
“Yeah, but I’m hungry so,” Yara rubbed her hands on her thighs to get rid of the sweat before walking away and into the kitchen. Yara finally exhaled when she entered the kitchen after holding her breath while walking past Erik. The kitchen was open and you could peek into the living room. Erik was sitting directly across from Micheal staring straight ahead at Yara while smoking his blunt. He tilted his head at her while half listening to Micheal talk about Evette. Yara turned her face away, grabbing a loaf of wheat bread from the counter to make herself a PB&J sandwich.
“Little sis, what you cooking up in there?”
“Nothing for you,” Yara spread strawberry jam on her bread, “Why don’t you order in?”
“I was thinking about it, E, I’ma make a liquor run real quick, you want anything?”
“I got some good stuff in the car I can grab, you aint gon’ drink it so don’t even ask.”
“Yeah, I like my own shit,” Micheal stood from the couch, walking towards the back of the apartment to his room. It was silent minus the low TV and Yara washing the butter knife she used to make her sandwich. Erik leaned back into the leather couch, crossing his arms over his solid chest. He watched Yara walk over to the trash can to toss a paper towel in the trash that she most likely used to clean up crumbs or spilled jam. Erik has a great view of Yara’s thick ass bending over, her drawstring shorts raising up her thighs and getting caught between her ass cheeks. Such a beautiful sight has Erik’s brows knitted as he gave her a once-over. At that particular moment, Yara looked back at him as if she could feel his eyes boring into her.
“Hi.” She spoke in a trembling tone.
“Hi, back,” Erik says suggestively.
“Did Mike leave yet?”
“Nah-“
“Aight, I’ll be back, y’all good? Need anything?” Micheal was back with a hoodie on, a dad cap, and a pair of vans on his feet.
“Can you stop by that corner market that sells those organic fruits? I want some mangos.” Yara yelled from the kitchen.
Micheal grabbed the door knob, pausing, “I’m making a liquor run too.”
“Oh! I want some Hypnotiq.”
“Cool, you, E?”
“We can order in when you get back, I’m good.”
“Bet, I’ll be back.”
Micheal exits.
“Mike still just as skinny as he was since the last time I saw him” Erik laughs.
“Yeah, he can eat but it goes nowhere. Me, I gained all the weight in the world.”
Erik gave Yara a dismissive wave of his hand, “Girl, you look good. Ain’t nothing wrong with the weight you put on.”
Yara giggles, popping a green grape in her mouth, “Thank you.”
“No problem,” Erik craned his neck to try and see her, “Why don’t you come in here and eat. Over there hiding and shit from a nigga.”
“Okay,” Yara got up from the dining room table, walking through the kitchen and entering the living room. She decided to sit her plump bottom on the floor while using one of the leather ottomans as a surface for her grapes and half eaten sandwich.
“So, how have you been?” Erik asked while rolling a new blunt.
“I’ve been doing just fine. Ready to graduate honestly.” Yara nervously rubbed her shoulder before gazing at Erik, “You?”
“Busy, busy, busy,” Erik’s onyx eyes landed on hers before looking back at his blunt, “Just traveling, training, that’s about it.”
“Oh,” Yara massaged the back of her neck, “Does those scars have anything to do with it?”
“Partly, yeah.”
“I see,” Yara admires them, “They look...they don’t look like typical scars.”
“That’s because they’re not.” Erik spoke in a flat tone.
“Let me just, stop asking,” Yara laughs awkwardly.
Erik chuckles, “It’s not a subject I rather talk about with you, Little Yara.”
“I understand. I won’t pry.”
“Cool,” Erik takes a hit of his blunt, cheeks blowing out as they filled with smoke, “Seeing anybody?”
“Nope. I haven’t for the past three months. Been trying to stay focused. Men are a distraction.”
“Y’all women are too,” Erik laughs, smoke escaping his nose.
Yara cocked her head, “So, my guess is you aren’t seeing anyone either.”
Erik licks his lips, “I don’t have time for that.”
“Does that include sex too?”
Erik clapped his hands together while chuckling, “Ahhhh, shit, Yara, did you just ask me about my sex life? Are you having sexxxxxxx?!
“I did. And I’m grown, ERIK, so yes, I’m having sex,” Yara gave a half shrug while rolling her eyes.
“21, right? I remember when I was 21. Legally can drink now and everything. Too bad you still can’t hang with us,” Erik chuckles.
Yara gave Erik the finger, “fuck you, don’t play with me like that.”
“I’m just saying, I remember you graduating high school the last time I saw you. Now you’re in your 20s, barely.”
Yara lowered her head, “Will you always remember me like that? Like DAMN, I did grow up, nigga.”
Erik noticed the attitude in her voice, “You’re mad at me?”
“Just annoyed,” Yara stood up, grabbing her food, “I’m gonna eat in my room so I can look over this project I have to submit tomorrow. I’ll see you later, Erik.”
Confused, Erik watched Yara practically storm away. He didn’t understand why his words offended her so much. It’s just what Erik is used to. He’s used to seeing Yara so young not a 21 year old adult. It was all still so new to him. Deciding not to chase after her, Erik gets up from the couch to retrieve his shoes so he could grab his drink from his car.
———————
Yara couldn’t even focus.
She was really bothered by Erik’s comments.
It was mainly because every time he cracked jokes she thought about her kissing him. He probably cracked jokes about that too. Clearly, Erik couldn’t look past the fact that Yara is Mike’s little sis. She really thought he was past that when he first laid eyes on her. She could tell what a look of lust was in a man’s eyes since Yara often receives that look. Erik’s eyes were gleaming with desire and attraction. He almost looked shocked that it was Yara. Then, the way he looked her up and down. His eyes damn near gaped when she noticed him staring while she was in the kitchen. Pupils flared and all. Now, it was as if he was trying to hide the attraction he has towards her after three years. Yara was disappointed honestly. She always thought the next time she ever saw Erik they would honestly re-do that kiss and possibly have sex. If Yara had the choice to go back and lose her virginity it would have been with Erik.
Glancing at her phone, Yara noticed it was around 7:45 PM. Luckily, the bar she worked at wasn’t too far from her. Yara didn’t drive so she usually walked or caught an Uber. Lifting from her soft and fluffy floor cushion, Yara grabs her white cotton towel and soap sponge to take a shower. Leaving her room, she could hear Erik watching a basketball game. Yara closes her bedroom door, walking across to the bathroom, closing the door behind her softly. She began to undress, stripping her clothes from her body into a wrinkled pile on the floor near the sink. Opening the medicine cabinet, Yara grabs her Dove sensitive skin body wash and exfoliating spin brush. She couldn’t stop herself from thinking about Erik being in the living room right now while she was naked in the bathroom. There was no way Yara could ignore the growing dampness between her legs. She hadn’t been wet to the thought of Erik in a very long time.
Luke warm water running, Yara pulled the tribal patterned shower curtain back, stepping inside carefully not to slip on the the shower mat, then closing the curtain behind her. Yara forgot to pin her hair up but she needed to wash her hair anyway so she allowed it to grow wet while she wet her body completely. Grabbing her exfoliating brush and the body wash, Yara applied the body wash to her curvy body, turning on her brush and in a circular motion, began to cleanse her skin from the neck down. She had a separate skin care routine and a spin brush for that as well. Yara lifts her leg on the side of the tub to wash behind her thighs, the warm water running down her ass and to her pussy. Yara felt extra tingly between her legs. She didn’t have time to rub off in the shower and she forgot her favorite vibrator in her bed room. Groaning, Yara tried to ignore it as best as she could while scrubbing the top of her feet.
————————
Erik sat cross-faded with his eyes sitting low. The basketball game was just background noise for him. Bored out of his mind, Erik really wanted to go and talk to Yara. He didn’t want to approach her on some awkward shit but at the same time he missed talking to her. Erik remembers how he used to talk and goof off with Yara from her doorway when they were younger. Micheal is very long-winded and sitting on the couch will eventually lead to Erik falling asleep. Erik leans forward on his elbow to peek down the hall where Yara’s bedroom is located. The hall was brightly lit from the light and he couldn’t tell which room was hers exactly. All the damn doors looked the same.
“Fuck it,” Erik places his phone on the coffee table, rising from the couch and making his way down the hall. Hands in his pockets, Erik approaches the first door. He knocks, no sound, twisting the knob and opening the door. It was Mikes room. Erik closes the door, walking further down the hall and approaching a door to his right. The light was on, he could tell from the glow beneath the door. Erik knocks, no sound. He grabs the brass knob, twisting it, then opening. Standing there, Erik’s chest rose and fell with rapid breaths. His mouth hung open and his eyes went round as if they were about to fall out of their sockets. He gawked at the sight of Yara before him. A sight he never imagined in a million years he would see up until now.
Yara was arched over the bathtub with her ass pointed straight out at Erik. Erik could smell cleaning products; Fabuloso from what it smelled like. The water in the tub was on full blast as Yara cleaned the porcelain. Her body was still wet and she had a T-shirt wrapped around her hair. Yara’s ass jiggled each time she scrubbed the tub out. She wasn’t aware of his presence. Erik was so stunned by her naked body and the fact that he walked in on her that he couldn’t even speak.
Too late.
Yara lifts her body up, turning to place the scrub brush on the floor near the tub, her eyes catching Erik standing within the entrance to the bathroom. Yara felt as if her heart was leaving her body. Shell-shocked almost. Now, her breasts were revealed to him. Large, big brown areolas and nipples soaking wet and dripping, curvy waistline glistening with water down to her waxed mound and thighs. Pretty toes painted white with a tattoo of a rose on her left foot. Yara looked appetizing. Yara bit her lip bashfully, eyes glossy as if she wanted to cry from embarrassment, her hands reaching out to the toilet to grab her folded towel. Yara presses her lips together to try and stop her lower lip from trembling and eyes her looked heavenward.
Yara spoke with a shaky voice, “I-Why didn’t you knock? Erik?”
Erik didn’t respond. His eyes were ablaze staring straight at her face. He felt turned on but at the same time he felt guilty. Luckily, Yara couldn’t see how fat and long his dick had gotten within his jeans. She couldn’t hear him, maybe he should have knocked harder. Yara’s hands were shaking and she couldn’t meet his eyes. She was overly embarrassed and not at all prepared. Yara crosses her thighs, pressing the towel further into her chest.
“...I knocked. I should have knocked again. Shit, Yara, I’m sorry-“
“Just-it’s cool,” Yara sized Erik up before rolling her eyes, “Can’t go back now, yeah?”
“I’m so fucking sorry, Yara,” Erik felt like shit, “I’m so so so sorry, Yara.”
“Erik, stop with the apologizing,” Yara drew in a long breath.
“I’m just gonna go,” Erik turns away, walking out of the bathroom. Yara stayed rooted to the spot, her hand pressing further into her chest to calm her rapid heart beat. As always whenever Yara felt embarrassed, she sighed before laughing quietly to herself. Pinching the bridge of her nose, Yara shook her head at what just happened. She was afraid to even look Erik in his eyes now. He saw her in full on nudity. Not in her panties and bra, not in a swimsuit, not wrapped with a fluffy towel, no, fully naked.
Twirling a strand of hair that fell from under the T-shirt, and chewing on her cuticles, Yara gathered herself before leaving the bathroom. She places the cleaning products back in its designated basket under the sink before grabbing her sponge. Yara walked out of the bathroom, entering the hallway and her eyes disobeying her as she nervously glanced into the living room. There seated on the couch with his eyes focused on her, was Erik. Like a magnet, Yara couldn’t pull her eyes away. It was as if he waited to see her leave.
Yara raised a hand in greeting.
He waved.
Yara hung her head, a small smile on her face.
Erik did the same thing before looking at her again.
“I hope this doesn’t make it weird between me and you,” Yara says.
“Never,” Erik spoke with his deep voice, “it could never be weird with you.”
Yara licks her lips, eyes set with long lashes blinking slowly at Erik.
“What are you thinking?” Erik asks while leaning forward on his elbows.
“I’m...I...just-forget it-“
“Nah, tell me.” Erik pushes his eyes searching.
“Mike will be back soon, I have to get dressed.”
“He ain’t back yet,” Erik tilts his head at her, “Don’t be so shy. It’s me, Erik.”
“But it’s what I’m thinking that I shouldn’t be,” Yara crosses her ankles in front of her while staring at her toes.
“Well, I wanna know.”
Yara fidgeted with her fingers before looking up at Erik through her lashes, “I was thinking that I’m glad you saw me like that. I’ve always wanted you to see me like that. Sorry I stormed away like I did earlier.”
Erik swallows spit, his Adam’s apple bobbing. Erik has to look away himself, scratching his nose. He wasn’t prepared for that response at all. Little Yara always wanted him to see her naked. He knew she had a school girl crush on him. No wonder why she didn’t rush to cover herself even though she still looked embarrassed.
“No worries, ma. Uh,” Erik scratches his dreads, “So...you’ve always wanted me to see you naked?”
Yara toyed with a lock of hair, “Yeah...” she spoke with her voice barely above a whisper.
“You shouldn’t talk like that, little Yara, you’ll get yourself in trouble.”
They way he said that sounded so dangerous like fucking with him was the last thing any women would want to do. But Erik didn’t understand, that was ALL Yara wanted to do. He was back, if she didn’t make a move now he would be gone again.
“It’s been a while since you’ve seen me, Erik, I dabbled in trouble,” Yara spoke with a honeyed tone.
“Maybe you should get in that bedroom before Mike gets here then,” Erik says with a sly smirk.
“Yeah, maybe,” Yara giggles before letting out a sigh,
“Bye, Erik.”
“Bye, Yara.”
She didn’t want to move. She really wanted Erik to get up and follow her into her bedroom.
“What you waiting on?” Erik says inclining his head towards the bedroom, “Get in there, little Yara.”
“Come with me?” Yara says before she could even stop herself.
Erik’s eyes dropped and his lips parted. Eyes fully closed now, he clenched his jaw to try and calm his dick. Too bad it was already growing stiff in his jeans. The way she told him to come with her. Such a tempting little thing. Nothing he expected Yara to ever say to him. She’s right, she definitely is a grown women now. Erik wondered what that body could really do.
“I’m-im Sorry,” Yara’s brows creased, eyes cast down at her hands, “I’m being a little too bold right now.”
Erik looked towards the door, then back at Yara. He took in the sight of her barely able to keep that towel around her body.
“You mean what you said? You’re not playing games?” Erik asks with a serious tone, “Cuz if I get up off this couch and come with you, you’re getting all of me, girl.”
“I know,” Yara bites her bottom lip, “I know what I want.”
The way her lips pouted and her eyes looked up at him all innocent caused Erik to stand up slowly from the couch. Erik drew his lower lip between his teeth hands in his jeans pockets before stepping forward. Yara’s lower lip trembled and her breath came out in short gasps. Standing directly next to her now, towering over her with his large intimidating frame, was Erik looking down at Yara with awe transforming his face. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Yara began to walk forward towards her bedroom. Yara twisted the handle, turning to face Erik before opening the door. Erik followed her into darkness, Yara turning to face him with timid eyes. Erik raised a single brow at her, silently asking her if she was sure about this. Yara swallows spit before nodding her head slowly. Erik licks his lips before closing that door behind him, the light that illuminated the hallway disappearing.

Promise
The next days seem to pass in a blur. Adrien and the other players finished off the run of their latest show to high praise from the townsfolk, but he had trouble taking true pride in the performance. As days turned into a week, he wasn’t the only one to feel a creative slump. A part of their family had vanished, and it seemed Adrien wasn’t the only one who found that in a few short months, Marinette had made herself an inextricable part of the theater. Her costumes were the vibrancy that encapsulated them on stage, and her quiet support a backbone many had come to rely on. Even now, when the truth about their dear costumer was an open secret within the walls of the theater, not a day went by without someone wondering aloud when Bertie would be back. The questions were never directed at him. Whether it was because the knowledge of his relationship with Marinette had finally gotten around or the imposing shadow of his bodyguard, Adrien didn’t know. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know, either.
Nino was the only one seemingly unfazed by the changes, but Adrien suspected his glowing countenance had less to do with the hole in their family and more to do with his recent tête-à-têtes with a certain fine Lady. In honesty, Nino’s calm probably came from him knowing more about Marinette’s current state of mind than he did with the amount of time he spent with her best friend. It seemed every afternoon, his friend was off to stroll the city by the Alya’s side, but Adrien cut him off anytime Nino offered to ask after Marinette on his behalf. Marinette had asked for time, and Adrien was determined to give her the space she needed.
Even if it was slowly driving him mad.
It was early Thursday morn, nearly a week since he spoke to her last, when someone finally remarked on his dourness. He was laying flat on the stage, enjoying the theater without the questioning eyes of his colleagues, when Plagg’s voice called out to him from the small table where here was eating a hasty breakfast. Then again, perhaps “remarked” was too kind a word...
“Would you stop sulking already?” His gruff voice shouted. “You’re melancholy is starting to make me lose my appetite.”
Tikki snorted as she passed behind him, not pausing as she flicked the back of her husband’s ear and went on tidying the backstage.
“I find that hard to believe,” she responded, with a pointed look at the spread Plagg was slowly devouring.
“Okay, fine, but c’mon, Tiks, even you have to admit the kid is being particularly annoying--”
“Plagg,” she warned.
“Over there, sighing like the world is ending and his life is over,” he grumbled, taking another bite of his bread with cheese.
“Oh, because you certainly were never melodramatic over a girl. Is that what you’re trying to say?” Adrien lifted his head and watched as Tikki put down her broom and fixed Plagg with a stare. Arms cross and lips pursed, her incredulity was unmistakable.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying. He’s being ridiculous.”
“Really? So the love sonnets of questionable skill and borderline scandalous content I received during our first year of courtship were from a different suitor? The carefully chosen flowers and piles of sweets from the bakery left on my windowsill each night from another one still?” Tikki looked away from her husband, whose face had turned a delicate shade of red, towards Adrien in exasperation. “Clearly I married the wrong man. My true love must still be out there wondering what he possibly did wrong.”
Plagg huffed in the corner and Tikki rolled her eyes before turning to blow a kiss towards the grumpy man.
“Fine, I was also a lovesick idiot at your age, Adrien,” Plagg admitted to Tikki’s chuckle. “So tell me: how bad did you mess up?”
Adrien simply gave him a look and Plagg nodded.
“And what are you going to do about it?”
“She said she needed...time,” Adrien grimaced at Plagg as the older man cringed in understanding.
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
When they had both remained silent for a moment, Tikki cut in.
“How long has it been?”
“Nearly a week,” Adrien replied with a frown.
“And you haven’t contacted her at all? Sent a note? Nothing?”
Adrien sat up fully at the tone in Tikki’s voice and noticed with confusion a disbelieving look on her face.
“The girl asked for space, Tiks,” Plagg interjected as Adrien nodded in agreement. Tikki looked between the two of them and sighed.
“Men,” she muttered, turning to rumage for something in the trunk behind her. When she emerged, her arms were laden with a soft bundle wrapped in paper and tied with twine. “This is Nathaniel’s costume for next performance. My cousin finally sent it from her theater in the north, but it needs adjusting.”
Adrien blinked at her blankly and Tikki started to look annoyed.
“I was going to take it to Marinette,” she enunciated clearly, as if speaking to a child. “But I suddenly find myself burdened by so much work. If only there were someone who could run over there for me…”
“Some strapping young lad,” Plagg caught on and turned to look at Adrien as well. “Perhaps one with blonde hair.”
“Wha--” Adrien scrambled to his feet. “You can’t mean--”
“Thank you for offering, Adrien!” Tikki shoved the bundle into his hands and dragged him towards the door with a strength that did not match her petite frame.
“But she wanted time!” He called, finally forming a coherent sentence as his feet crossed the threshold.
“Not that much time,” Tikki muttered in reply. “Go. You can thank me later.”
Then, without another word, the door to the theater was shut in his face, and Adrien was left with no other option than to follow orders and pray Tikki was right.
~*~
Adrien had imagined walking up to Marinette’s front door too many times to count. He’d imagined what it would be like if they were openly courting. What it would be like to meet her family and to formally ask her father for her hand. In none of these scenarios was Adrien dressed so shabbily, bodyguard in tow, and carrying a dress. But then, in none of the scenarios was there deafening yells echoing out towards the street from the Dupain abode either.
Shoving the wrapped bundle into his guard’s hands, Adrien ignored his genteel upbringing and pushed open the front door without preamble. His rudeness, and in fact his entire entrance, went completely unnoticed by the melee within.
The house seemed to echo with voices. Adrien could hear quieter mutterings of distinctly female voices bouncing towards the foyer from some room down the hall, but the loudest voices pulsated from the two men in the center of the foyer. A massive man stood with an angry glower, his low voice irritated but reasonable as a smaller, and evidently more furious, man hurled nearly incoherent insults at him. They spoke over each other, the taller man’s quiet tone no less forceful as he countered his opponents verbal attacks, but through the babble one thing became very clear.
Marinette had broken off her engagement.
Adrien stood shocked for a moment until a soft cough from next to him grabbed his attention. Turning, he came face to face with Luka. The man’s expression was outwardly indifferent, but Adrien could detect from experience the carefully concealed anger in his eyes each time the man who was obviously his father slighted Marinette or the Dupain family.
“Welcome to the war,” Luka greeted him with a cordial nod.
“What on earth--” Adrien began, eyes darting between Luka and the two feuding fathers at a loss for words. Luka smiled grimly and made quick work of recapitulating the events of the last few days for him.
“She told them...four days ago, I believe? And there hasn’t been a moment of peace since.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean her family wasn’t pleased, but while the Dupain women have descended to try and ‘talk some sense into her’, her father is trying to respect her wishes. My father,” Luka’s nose crinkled as he looked back at the man who, despite his wan frame, was no doubt related to the man next to him. “My father has not been as...receptive to the recent change in my relationship status.”
“Not that a broken engagement to Marinette isn’t a loss, but you are a man of stature and position. Surely you father would have no trouble finding you another match.”
“That would be true, had I ever shown any inclination towards marriage with any other...woman.”
Luka finished with a wink, and Adrien had no trouble catching his meaning.
“Without Marinette, I will dedicate myself to being a bachelor, at least in the eyes of society, and my father knows it. With no promise of a future heir…”
Luka trailed off, but Adrien nodded in understanding. He’d dealt with more than his fair share of the pressure that comes with continuing a family legacy.
“So, this has been all morning, but fear not,” Luka nudged his arm with his elbow. “My father will tire eventually, and she will officially be a free woman. Not for too long, though, I’m sure.”
“If that’s even what she still wants,” Adrien responded with a sigh and Luka gave him a deadpan look far to reminiscent of Tikki’s face that morning. “I really wish people would stop giving me that look.”
“She broke off her engagement for you. After you lied to her about who you were. Do you really still question what she wants?”
“She told you about that?” Adrien asked with a cringe and Luka just raised an eyebrow at him.
“She was a nervous wreck earlier this week. Alya and I cornered her into admission,” he replied with a shrug. “Marinette is very loved and has extremely nosy friends. Get used to it.”
He couldn’t help but smile at both Luka’s clear loyalty to Marinette and his subtle acceptance that Adrien would be around long enough to need to get used to anything when it came to her life.
“She said she needed time,” Adrien repeated for the third time that day, the excuse starting to sound weak even to his ears.
“Not that much time,”Luka responded easily. “I’m sure if she hadn’t been swarmed constantly by her female relatives for every second of the last few days, she would have told you so herself.”
“You really think so?”
Adrien looked over at Luka earnestly and the other man shook his head even as an incredulous smile came to his face.
“You really are hopeless, aren’t you?”
“Apparently so,” Adrien responded with a smile of his own, but it was short lived, the father’s conversation falling into dead silence before them. Luka and his attention immediately diverted to the two fuming men as Sir Couffaine pointed a finger at Mr. Dupain.
“Fine,” he seethed, jabbing his digit into the much larger man’s chest. “But if you think your little chit of a daughter will ever find a match like Luka, you are sorely mistaken. Good luck finding anyone else willing to take her off your hands.”
“Luckily, I don’t measure my self-worth by what men think of me,” the very woman in question announced, having broken from her relatives to enter the room from a side doorway.
“Marinette,” a shorter woman who was undoubtedly her mother cautioned, coming to stand behind her.
“No, maman. I am quite through with men who seem to think they have any right controlling the course of my life. Papa has tried to reason with Sir Couffaine, but the man seems to be either obstinate or dumb to his new reality.”
Luka snorted next to him but was quick to hide his grin behind his hand. Through the tension in the room, no one else paid the two young men by the door any mind.
Sir Couffaine turned to the young woman, face aggressively red from anger and took a step towards her, finger still pointed in accusation.
“If you were my daughter, I would--”
In an instant, his path was blocked. In tandem, he and Luka had taken a step forward, but there was no need. Before they even reacted, Thomas Dupain had the man’s arm in a vice grip, his expression no longer accommodating.
“She is not your daughter, Reginald,” Thomas’ voice was quiet, but the threat in his tone was clear. “And you will not even dare to breathe on her if you value your life.”
The moment his hand was released, Sir Couffaine backed away, discreetly rubbing his wrist as he spewed one last insult towards the Dupains.
“You are ruined. All of you!” He shouted, still backing towards the door. “The whole town will know of how your daughter slighted my son, and trust me, there will be no lack of rumors as to why. No one will ever want her hand.”
“I do,” Adrien spoke, taking a step forward before the man’s words even truly registered. As much as he hated to admit it, Couffaine was right. Luka was a charming, desirable suitor and above Marinette’s station. At the news that she broke off their engagement, gossip was sure to follow. To society, Marinette was only worth as much as the best match she could make.
And as much as it grated on him, he was considered quite a catch.
“I want her, that is,” Adrien repeated, his eyes finally finding Marinette’s as she spun and finally spotted him. “If she’ll have me, of course.”
“Adrien?” Her voice was breathless, and he noted with pleasure how the anger drained from her features as she regarded him.
“And just who the devil are you?” Reginald shouted, but Adrien didn’t spare him a glance nor waste a breath explaining himself.
“Father,” Luka announced for him, a barely concealed smile on his face as he laid a hand on Adrien’s shoulder. “May I present to you Sir Adrien Agreste, only son of Lord Agreste and Marinette’s new betrothed?”
Reginald sputtered at his introduction just as a tittering of whispers caught Adrien’s attention from the doorway. He spared a glance to see a grouping of four women, all with vaguely similar features to Marinette and all staring at him in wide-eyed awe, but quickly turned his gaze back to the woman that mattered most. She seemed happy to see him, but he still searched her eyes for some validation that he was doing the right thing. He needed to know that she still wanted him and that he wasn’t putting her in another impossible decision byt stepping forward.
“Now just wait a minute,” Mr. Dupain spoke up through the chatter, hand on Marinette’s shoulder to root her in place as he stared with calculating eyes at Adrien “No one is betrothed to anyone just yet.”
The room silenced as Thomas faced his daughter’s new suitor.
“I don’t care how many flowers you send or grand declarations you make. Hell! I don’t care if you’re the bloody Prince of England, son,” he said. “We’ve already been through one broken engagement in this house, and there will not be a second. There is one thing I need to know.”
“I understand, sir,” Adrien responded, waiting for the man’s question. To his surprise, Thomas turned to his daughter.
“Marinette,” Thomas asks uncertainty. “Do you want to be betrothed to this young man?”
“Yes. I do,” she answered immediately and Adrien felt his heart skip.
“Are you sure?” Adrien asks in barely a whisper. His voice betraying his worry, but in that moment, it was as if only Marinette were in the room. He didn’t care who else heard him.“I know you wanted time--”
“Yes, minou,” she turned to look at Adrien with a smile, leaving her father’s grasp and grabbing his hands. “I honestly am.”
And as soon as the words left her lips, her knew that she meant it. Without looking away, he untied the ribbon from his neck and held the warm garnet ring between his fingers. He brought her left hand to his lips in a kiss as he looked to her for confirmation. In her eyes, all he saw was the promise of their future, and as slid the ring onto her finger, he finally sealed a promise of his own.

Family: Mother and father, both alive and happy in Stockholm. She keeps in touch with them both regularly but tends not to speak of them to others as she’s a fairly private gal.
Appearance
The photo this application is attached to is my own drawing of Capri and I feel like it represents her fairly well!
Height: 178cm
Weight: 77kg
Bodytype: Ectomorph through and through lol
Eye color: Green
Hair color: Black
Hairstyle: Short and simple, tries to keep it somewhat tamed or it’s up in a quick and messy bun.
Skin colour: Rather fair with warmer undertones.
Prominent features (Scars, freckles, moles): Does have a rather big tattoo on her back and up her right shoulder (trash polka style with the theme being horses), has a few scattered scars on left arm after a bad fall from a horse.
Any health problems: Allergic to peanuts and shellfish. Does deal with a case of milder social anxiety, though, manages reasonably most of the time.
How do they dress: Capri tends to favor function most of all and enjoys looser clothing when possible. Doesn’t enjoy too many details and avoid jewelry nearly all the time unless there’s a special occasion. She favors blues and greens and enjoys simple designs, preferably geometrics. Clean cut gal.
Accessories: Usually avoids most accessories, but is occasionally seen with simple bracelets or necklaces of leather and possibly with stones/crystals.
Behavior
Wealth: Decently well off. She was raised to care for her money well and has her finances in an iron grip, often sticking to only spending money on what is absolutely needed and will rarely throw things away unless it’s absolutely necessary. If she wants something, she can usually afford.
Any addictions: None.
Morning mood: Neutral. Capri doesn’t enjoy mornings, but she has little problem getting out of bed. May get cranky if people try to stress her right away or interrupt her fifteen minutes of relaxation when getting up, however.
Usual workday on the circus (Do they help in the stables, clean up after performances, practice etc): Capri is the kind that would happily help with whatever is needed, but prefers more secluded work and would probably mostly spend her time cleaning up/keeping things organized or practice what she does.
Skills/Talents: Has great balance, speaks three languages, quite good at organizing and managing things and knows how to juggle quite well.
Thing they’re bad at: Cooking, controlling her temper, keeping track of time (which is funny given the way she always organizes and manages the rest of her life so well), dealing with children, being patient.
Hobbies: Capri quite enjoys going for walks and working out, often seeking desolate places and exploring the nearby areas. She’s also quite fond of reading and leaning along with training her best pal and horse, Daydream, to do tricks.
Past: Capri first set foot on Jorvik as a child during their family holidays as her mother was quite fond of horses. They spent their summers riding on the island and Capri grew quite fond of Jorvik. When she became older, she decided she wanted to head out to find her place and where she belonged. She wanted to see what was out here and what the world had to offer.
Her first stop, mostly because it was at least somewhat familiar and Capri was a little frightened about heading out all on her own, was Jorvik. She found herself a cheap apartment and took on various jobs, learning much as she went along. Her education had centered around plants and farming and she put her knowledge to use, aiding with the wildlife and farms around.
Then she met Daydream. She’d always enjoyed horses, sure, but Daydream truly felt like home and the restless part of Capri’s soul that wanted to see everything stilled somewhat. She bought him fast and decided to truly give Jorvik a chance as a forever home, though, always keeps a door open for herself should she want to leave the island and continue her search for a place to belong.
Given that she jumps between jobs and tries new things frequently, it is likely that Capri would be fairly new to the circus world.
What do they want in the future:
Any special goals:
Close friends: Capri doesn’t really have any close friends, though would probably consider Tilda Underwell and Jamie Silentborn to be good friends as the three of them has spent a considerable time together on the island during Capri’s years on Jorvik. Being so reserved, it’s not always easy for her to make new friends, either.
Enemies/Rivals: None. She’s hard to befriend and hard to really get against one. Her temper may be brutal, but she rarely actually lumps someone into the category of ‘true dislike’ and isn’t the type to get into rivalries.
Greatest strength: Her determination and drive to go, go, go.
Greatest flaw: Her temper - it truly messes things up quite a lot.
Favorite
Food: Fries & Mayo
Drink: Chai tea
Color: Navy blue
Book: There’s loads, Capri would never be able to pick a favorite.
Film: The Goonies
Music/Song: Happy - Never Shout Never
TV: Criminal Minds
Sport: Downhill Skiing
Motto/Quote: ‘If you live for having it all, what you have is never enough.’
Act
What is their act (Examples): Capri specialized at the tightrope. She would usually do object manipulation.
Do they use any animals? If so, what kinds: No.
Do they usually succeed: Yes.
Are they good at it: Very much so. Capri is by no means skilled enough to become world famous or go into the books, but she stands out from the crowds for sure.
Why do they do it: Because it suits her personality. The tightrope demands focus at all times and up there, she feels at ease. She’s part of the fun, but she gets to keep her distance from the crowds and the other performers. Being a somewhat solitary person that doesn’t thrive when socializing, it’s her little in-between of being a part of something bigger without being in the total center of it. And when she was younger, Capri was incredibly fascinated by Philippe Petit due to her parents having witnessed his New York walk themselves and dreamed of doing something as incredible as it. Her dream never really took off, as her parents didn’t approve, but she still spent a significant amount of time learning about the craft, practicing it and doing little stunts by herself all through her youth and even into her older years. If it’s small and difficult to walk on, Capri would do it. Always.
Do they do it with someone else: No, Capri does her act solo.
How do they dress during their performance: Capri has a few different outfits she would wear, often going for the fairly standard ‘short dress’ that many tightrope walkers wears. She tends to stick to blue colors, but has a few differently themed dresses such as a pirate one, a neon one and a pink one.
What kind of music plays during their performance: I would imagine something ‘classic’ like High Wire: Kentucky Sunrise (Two-Step) by The Big Top Orchestra really or something close to it.
Personality
Capri is a fairly reserved individual and doesn’t enjoy sharing much about herself, preferring to listen and learn. She has a good heart yet fails to show it often, not always sure how to interact with people or how to deal with things. She enjoys helping others and being busy, often taking on big projects and is reliable with her work - even if she tends to show up ten minutes late. With one heck of a temper, she does tend to butt heads with many and sometimes does lash out unfairly at people or get into fights about stupid things. She doesn’t hold grudges, however, and tries her best to own up when she’s done wrong by someone. The friends she does have she treasures deeply and being a fiercely loyal girl, she would go to great lengths to protect them with all her being.
There are definitively times when Capri is too rash and forward, not the type to sugarcoat things once she’d in it. She doesn’t do it to be mean and often reads situations well enough to know when not to run her mouth, genuinely caring but also knowing that sometimes people need hard truths. She’s great at organizing, planning and managing projects but can often struggle a little with communicating clearly with everyone involved in things she does. Crowds isn’t her favorite things either, as she’s not very interested in attention or being the center of anything, but she usually manages alright.
Her mild social anxiety does show at times and usually with new people or when she thinks she’s messed up by saying something wrong or after arguments when her temper backs off. She overthinks things like that a lot and it makes it difficult for her to let people in as she’s so uncertain about many things regarding friendships, socializing and the people around her. But once she’s more comfortable with people, it usually lessens and she does alright. However, she’s still a quite silent and reserved person with friends as well and rarely shares anything about herself unless asked first.

Reading is a city for the do-ers. Reading is for the go getters. Reading is a city for those who refuse to take “no” for an answer. Reading is a city for those who make a lane for themselves when they don’t fit in an existing lane. Reading is a city for those with heart. Reading is a city for those who understand that with no grit, there is no pearl. Reading is a city of a lot of things, but it isn’t for the lazy, the weak-willed, or the quitters. It is a city for those taking risks in order to achieve their dreams, and for those who want it so bad they breathe, eat, sleep and LIVE it.
The following individuals are those people. The people who move in silence and allow their work to speak for them. The following individuals don’t just dream it, but get up and work towards it every single day. Across different business, ventures, and projects, they all share the same drive. The following individuals are the ones lifting our city up, and making a difference. They are the ones who come to mind when I think of Reading and the ones to watch in 2018…

I was going through a lot of anxiety and decided to go to energy healer/medium, Barb Ruhl, to help me understand what I was feeling and move beyond my anxiety. Little did I know I was in for a huge awakening! I was having visions of spirit guides and becoming clairvoyant the more I was healing my past. That is when I decided to start my Soul Art business!

Born and raised in Reading, PA. I’m the youngest of 6. My parents always taught us to go after every goal we set for ourselves while also raising us as a tight knit family. Knowing I would always have my families support I decided to make a name for myself and pursue a career in fashion. My passion for fashion has always been something I was very vocal about. People would always ask me to help them put a look together or wanted my opinion on their outfits. Until one day I said to myself… Self you should purse a career in wardrobe styling. I started taking my career path very serious and I was signed to my first agency (The Elite Paris Agency) and from there it was history for me. My looks were being published, I was being asked to help for NYFW, photographers wanted to work with me and more agencies wanted to sign me. I was signed to a second agency “NewYorkFashionMagazine” (NYFM) as a fashion blogger garnishing many fans for my trademark “Get The Look By Jay” blogs and from there I started to wardrobe style for them as well. Networking myself started becoming second nature to me and before you know it, I was getting an email from HOT97 with an opportunity to become part of their team as a fashion blogger. I took the offer and since signing my contract with HOT97 I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities, as well as meeting so many people and being blessed with renewing my HOT97 contract. I have so many upcoming projects that I’m extremely excited for and I’m just blessed I took the opportunity to make my mark in my city to end up being known globally for doing what I love! Stay tuned and be on the lookout. I’ll be moving to ATL in August for a major opportunity I was humbly given by my HOT97 team. Reading is on the map and I’ll continue to keep Reading on the map!! RHS 2015 Alumni, I am Hispanic (Dom/Puerto). Born and raised in reading Reading,PA. Currently have a 5 month old son.
What You Do
I run a local clothing line formally known as Rebel era started back in 2013, presently known as 3RV. I’ve had major success within the brand. In 2015 we were featured in the Reading Eagle as well as Fox29 news. I’ve sold over 1000 pieces of product over the years and still counting. I am now a proud owner at 22 years old of a print shop opening late February early March. Knights printing and I of course I named it accordingly for my city. Lastly have just been added to the DearRDG podcast and will be making my debut shortly.
Why
My “why” purpose is opportunity. I don’t believe growing up I was exposed to much opportunity growing up in the business aspect. Not how to run a business nor maintain one. I want to be able to have a key partnership with RHS and The Olivets to have kids come in and intern or work. Give them that opportunity to be able to work in a different environment as opposed to the food services or retail. I would also love to use my platform to host many community events. That’s big for me. Community things. That’s something I wish I had more growing up. I want to be apart of the development in the city and I feel that as a 22 years old I’m at the forefront of it. I named my Shop Knights printing solely on the fact that I’m so in love with where I was raised and I wouldn’t trade this place for anything. I hope in the future more kids takes chances and chase their dreams younger. Love your people and the people will love you back.

What You Do
I like to think of myself as a social entrepreneur. I do real estate sales and investments as a profession. I help people as my passion. When passion meets business that’s when I feel that I am at my happiness.
Why
I want people to be afforded opportunities so that they can stop the cyclical nature of poverty. I want to be where things are the worst and I want to work collectively with communities to improve them. I believe that in order to change the world you must change the minds of people. The worst thing that a person can be is poor. Poor to me has nothing to do with money. Poor to me has everything to do with a mindset that says that tomorrow can’t possibly be better than today, the belief that things can’t get better. I love having conversations with people because I feel that it is through conversations that minds and ideas evolve. We are our most powerful when we can open up our eyes to somebody else’s life. Tupac once said, ” Learn to see me as a brother instead of two distant strangers”. My why is helping inner cities like Reading PA become places where families can go from poverty to wealth in the same neighborhoods. To help inner cities become places that are open to the arts. To help inner cities become places where the old feel that they can make a better place for the young, and where the young feel like they can take over the WORLD. I see myself in people, I share their fears, insecurities, and hopes. I want to be a voice for people as they grow into their own voice. I want to challenge the world to be more together and to dialogue it’s way into a better place.

I am an Dominican born American that spent most of my youth in Reading, PA. My family originally lived in Queens, New York then moved to Reading in 2007. I’m a Reading High School grad and former Varsity football player, Class of 2018! LET’S GO RED KNIGHTS! New York gave me my mentality but Reading made me. Earlier this year I moved to Orlando, Florida to finish my education in Music Production at Full Sail University and pursue my dream of being a musician.
What You Do
I am an Artist, I primarily make RnB and Soul but dabble in Hip-Hop. I’ve been at it for 3 years now stemming from my poetry and my love of music. Right now I am a solo artist, I started off in a rap group named “Apocalyricists” we were a collective of Reading artists but one thing led to another and we all went our separate ways. As of right now, I am doing a lot of songwriting and singing preparing for my first EP that should be dropping early to late August. All of my singles are out on youtube and SoundCloud. I am also a producer, been at it for 1 year trying to be the next Pharrell in the making. Besides that, I am an actor and Youtuber informing people of the many questions and concerns they have about my school. I am also a full-time Alchemist. You can find all my work on my youtube account MANZ (linked below).
Why
My “Why” derives from my tireless dreaming. Of course, I want to ultimately supply for my family and leave a legacy but my main purpose is to create and enrich the world I live in. I want to inspire and jump start anyone that crosses paths with me. I come from a lower middle-class family, my mother was an immigrant and my stepfather is an African-American man who grew up during the civil rights movements and the Reagan Era. I’ve had a taste of both of the cultures and I have bared witness to racism, drug abuse, poverty, inner city crime, murder, violence, and entrapment. My purpose is to shine light on people’s situation. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do or what situation God has placed you in. You can do whatever you dream of. I am living proof of it, I can delve into my past and list all my obstacles, hardships and failures and link it to the success I am facing now. That is a testament to my work ethic, my drive, belief in my dreams and the grace of God. So to wrap that up my why/purpose is to only spark other peoples belief and work on creating more dreamers that act upon their dreams. Tap into the minds of the visionaries and get give them the tools and motivation to make those visions come to fruition. My purpose is to contribute to a better future with great music, sharing of knowledge, love, and inspiration to all of those in need. In the scope of things, I do not wanna change the world, one man cannot change the world. But, I would love to inspire the many people who can change the world, make them believe in themselves enough to do it.
Besides my music work, I am working closely with my good friend/manager Mateo Toro on a Music Label and a top-secret development that should create a huge change in the city of Reading. The plan is under wraps until we get some funds to back it. But the first place I want to move in the right direction is the city that raised and inspired me to always be greater. From Music to knowledge to love to growth to prosperity.

Raise the Age FAQs
Training efforts to support implementation of the Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Act, or “raise the age,” are in full swing. With the December 1, 2019 implementation date drawing near, I have had the pleasure of teaching about the new law at many fall conferences and at five regional workshops. Common questions have been raised across these venues. This blog contains answers to some of those commonly asked questions as well as information on how to access further training and resources.
Which Chapter 20 motor vehicle misdemeanor offense convictions bar future juvenile court jurisdiction under once an adult, always an adult?
The new G.S. 7B-1604(b) will prohibit any future juvenile court jurisdiction for almost all youth who have a previous conviction in criminal court. This is often referred to as “once an adult, always an adult.” However, there is an exception to this prohibition. Youth who have a conviction for a misdemeanor Chapter 20 motor vehicle offense that does not involve impaired driving or who have been found responsible for a motor vehicle infraction are not included under once an adult, always an adult. Any youth with one of these convictions should still be treated as a juvenile if they are age 16 or 17 at the time of any non-chapter 20 offense.
One of the scenarios that we discuss during the raise the age workshop involves a 17-year-old who has a previous conviction under G.S. 20-138.3, driving by a person under age 21 after consuming alcohol or drugs. Many workshop participants have been surprised to learn that this is not an offense that involves impaired driving for the purpose of once an adult, always an adult.
Several participants have asked me for a list of the chapter 20 misdemeanors that do not involve impaired driving and therefore do not trigger once an adult, always an adult. It turns out that is a very long list that includes all kinds of driver’s license, vehicle registration, and rules of the road violations, among other things. It is much less complicated to remember what does qualify as an impaired driving offense for the purposes of once an adult, always an adult. Pursuant to G.S. 7B-1604(b), misdemeanors that involve impaired driving are those offenses listed as impaired driving offenses in G.S. 20-4.01(24a). There are only two misdemeanor offenses that fall under the definition of impaired driving offenses under G.S. 20-4.01(24a). They are:
Impaired driving under 20-138.1 and
Impaired driving in a commercial vehicle under G.S. 20-138.2.
Juvenile court will never have jurisdiction over any subsequent offense committed by a youth after he or she has been convicted under either one of these statutes. Any other chapter 20 misdemeanor conviction or finding of responsibility for a chapter 20 infraction does not disqualify the youth from future juvenile court jurisdiction.
Can the indictment process be used to begin a case with a Class A – Class G felony alleged to have been committed at age 16 or 17 directly in Superior Court?
The short answer is no. The return of an indictment on a Class A – Class G felony alleged to have been committed at age 16 or 17 is one of two potential triggers for automatic transfer of the case to superior court. G.S. 7B-2200.5 However, the transfer can only be accomplished in the context of a delinquency case initiated through the filing of a juvenile petition. While the new statute does not dictate when an indictment should be returned as part of the delinquency proceeding, it is clear that there is no capacity for the superior court to establish jurisdiction other than through an order of transfer issued by the district court in the juvenile matter. Therefore, any indictment must be returned to a juvenile matter in district court. Once the juvenile receives notice of the return of the indictment and the district court finds that the bill of indictment has been returned, the case must be transferred to superior court.
If a prosecutor intends to consent to return of a Class G felony to juvenile court, can the matter simply remain in juvenile court or must it first be transferred?
The new G.S. 7B-2200.5 mandates that every Class G felony alleged to have been committed at age 16 and 17 be transferred to superior court on a finding of probable cause or the return of an indictment. There is no way to proceed in the juvenile matter that alleges a felony at age 13 or older without a finding of probable cause. G.S. 7B-2202. It is therefore not possible to move forward in a juvenile proceeding on a Class G felony without triggering the automatic transfer.
The capacity for reverse waiver, added in S.L. 2019-186, requires that any proceeding, with an alleged offense committed by someone at age 16 or 17 and transferred to superior court, be remanded back to juvenile court on joint motion of the prosecutor and the youth’s attorney. G.S. 7B-2200.5(d). There are no additional parameters on this reverse waiver capacity beyond consent of the prosecutor and the juvenile. It is therefore possible that a Class G offense could be remanded back to juvenile court for juvenile processing. However, this can only be accomplished through a reverse waiver that follows the initial mandatory transfer.
Where will older adolescents be housed if they are held securely while their cases are pending?
The answer to this question depends on three things:
Which system has original jurisdiction over the offense?
Which system continues to have jurisdiction over the offense?
How old is the youth?
Which system has original jurisdiction over the offense?
Nearly all offenses alleged to have been committed by youth at ages 16 and 17 will originate under juvenile jurisdiction once raise the age takes effect. G.S. 7B-1501(7)b. Any youth under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court and ordered into secure custody must be held in a juvenile detention setting. G.S. 7B-1905.
There are two exceptions to original juvenile court jurisdiction following raise the age implementation. No chapter 20 offenses alleged to have been committed by youth at ages 16 and 17 will ever be under juvenile jurisdiction. In addition, any youth who has a disqualifying previous criminal conviction under once an adult, always an adult will never again fall under juvenile jurisdiction. To the extent that any youth falls under one of these exclusions to juvenile jurisdiction, that youth will be processed as an adult. Therefore, any pretrial confinement in these matters will remain in adult jail.
Which system continues to have jurisdiction over the offense?
As long as a juvenile remains under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court, the place of secure custody must be in a juvenile detention setting. G.S. 7B-1905. This will be the case even if a juvenile turns 18, or even 19, as long as that juvenile is being held in secure custody in a matter that is under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court.
The law regarding housing of youth who become a defendant in a criminal matter following transfer of their case from juvenile to criminal court is different. This is where the age of the youth becomes important.
How old is the youth?
Once a proceeding is transferred to superior court for criminal processing, the age of the youth dictates their place of confinement if they are not released pending their trial.
Youth who are defendants in cases that are transferred, are not released pretrial, and are under the age of 18 will remain in juvenile detention.
Youth who are defendants in cases that are transferred, are not released pretrial, and are age 18 or over will be confined in the adult jail in the locality where their charges arose. G.S.7B-2204
How can people in my office access training if they cannot attend a workshop?
Several workshop participants have asked me about additional training for their colleagues. It has become clear to me that, despite my best efforts, I cannot possibly train everyone interested in training in an in-person format. The SOG is therefore planning to webcast the October 30th Raise the Age Workshop that is being held here in Chapel Hill. Registration for that webcast is available on our website. You can also find the handouts from the workshops on our website.
You can also find a comprehensive Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Act Implementation Guide available for purchase on the SOG website. Finally, I am developing a series of short videos that highlight the key raise the age provisions in bite-sized chunks. The videos will be added to the juvenile law microsite at the SOG soon.

Who is responsible for the Car Insurance costs? (Please Read)?
Hello, I would really appreciate any one who can help me out with this, personally i am so disgusted with the government and the way the country is run that i don't know much about politics as i stay away from it for my own stress levels. Two months ago my nephew took his own life, as well as a variety of mental health problems (Which of course also go's uncared for in this country) other reasons he couldn't cope to live in society was that he couldn't get a job (200+ job application attempts) he discovered that to increase his chance of getting a job he would learn to drive so he can get to A to B. After going into approx. 90% of his life savings he managed to take driving lessons and even managed to pass his test. At this point he couldn't get insured because he discovered even if he was in a FULL TIME job he couldn't afford it. Yes he was male and was an adolescent. But he didn't want to drive to show off , have a nice car . Etc. he wanted a car to get to A to B to increase the chances of getting a job. I want to know who is in charge of car insurance etc. (department of transport??) so i can write to them and explain the situation which makes me sick to my stomach thinking about. Everyones aware the government are trying to get young drivers off the road, but to then expect them to find a job even in this tough climate is beyond me. I won't start/sign petitions because evidently from the past they don't really get you anywhere i just want to write to someone to tell them the story of why my nephew took his own life as well as to take out some of my anger on someone. Who can i contact? Thank you and i really appreciate any help anyone can give me x""

I am currently learning to drive, and I am hopefully taking my test within the next month so I can drive to and from Uni. However, looking at some of the insurance prices, I have been put off slightly! I am hoping to also do pass plus which will make it a little cheaper, and I believe there is a black box that monitors your driving that makes it cheaper also? For those who know, what are some cheap insurance companies, and other methods to make the insurance cheaper? I am looking for a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 (1999-2001), it will be kept at home on the driveway overnight, and will be parked in the car park at University, and I have no children under 16 (just things I have been told are some factors they consider). Any information will be appreciated. Many Thanks, Jade""
What should I do about my 19 year old sons car insurance?
I have a son who is nearly 19 years old. He may be putting in for his test soon. The problem is I am worried about the cost of car insurance. He is nagging me to go on my insurance but I don't really like that idea because I am worried if he has an accident I will lose my no claims and my insurance will go up considerably. The other option is that I buy him a really cheap car with a small engion, but only cover third party. That way he can build up his own no claims. I was wondering if anyone knows how much he would be expected to pay if he decided to do this?""

Anyway the Vette clears out and is mint shape, no accidents, and is selling for $14,900 with 74K miles, a steal if you ask me. Anyway I have over $16,500 saved up, which leaves me with an issue.
