[my front garden this morning]
* * * *
THE ORDINARY WEATHER OF SUMMER
In the ordinary weather of summer with storms rumbling from west to east like so many freight trains hauling their cargo of heat and rain, the dogs sprawl on the back steps, panting, insects assemble at every window, and we quarrel again, bombarding each other with small grievances, our tempers flashing on and off in bursts of heat lightning. In the cooler air of morning, we drink our coffee amicably enough and walk down to the sea which seems to tremble with meaning and into which we plunge again and again. The days continue hot. At dusk the shadows are as blue as the lips of the children stained with berries or with the chill of too much swimming. So we move another summer closer to our last summer together - a time as real and implacable as the sea out of which we come walking on wobbly legs as if for the first time, drying ourselves with rough towels, shaking the water out of our blinded eyes.

MWW Artwork of the Day (2/21/23) Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench (Spanish, 1849–1916) Carnival Evening in the "Alameda" (1889) Oil on canvas Museo Nacional de Ceramica y Artes suntuarias Gonzalez Marti, Valencia
During his lifetime Ignacio Pinazo was famous for his pictures of scenes of local customs. Many of his contemporaries, including Sorolla himself, knew anecdotes about this painter and his predilection for popular events: fairs, markets, picnic teas on the beach, typical spots in Valencia, etc. These anecdotes were passed down across the generations with the result that Pinazo is now viewed as a realist painter who systematically transferred scenes from everyday life to canvas or panel. However, there is no reason to doubt the accuracy of those anecdotes, as many of Pinazo's paintings confirm this view. This painting, which shows a carnival scene in the “Alameda” boulevard of Valencia, shows how he was able to combine realism and abstraction to capture the regional flavor of the characters -- ladies dressed in the French fashion and young boys in the traditional dress of the old peasants, with “zaragüelles” and “mantas morellanas.”

I've watched The Carnival Job so many times that I've started noticing tiny mistakes in the backgrounds and stuff, so I've stopped myself from watching it repeatedly so I don't ruin it for myself but THE ENDING KILLS ME.

He just holds her. One arm around her, the other cradling her head, hand tangled in her hair. We've seen it in many other episodes, but this is my go-to example of Eliot's heart. He's built a fortress around his heart, but a kid in danger breaks that down in two seconds. It's his greatest trigger.

Wait that's . . . actually depressing
Bruh Eiden's part time jobs has been a running gag that we laugh at for the sheer amount he's had since he's been old enough to actually work.
But the revelation in his intimacy rooms what happened during one of them slapped me in the face for WHY he's gone through so many of them.
After what happened he must have been so wary that even the slightest hint of something suspicious going on made him just leave and find some other job.
And suddenly he's a jack of all trades. (´。_。`)
