We are more than what we know. It's more than just a job or a career, yet it's a blessing in disguise. It's disguised as a blood pouring, chest compressing, c. difficile smelling, needle sticking type of job accompanied with this one of many other great things... The sense of reward that you've helped someone to become better. As a nurse, there's no better feeling, even after a hard day, that you've made someone's life better. Taking your dedication to the next level to advocate for your patient. Always strive to the next level, you never know what's around the corner. #nurse #nurselife #nursesofintagram #nursingschool #nursingstudent #instanursing #instanurse #cardiacstrong #advocate #dedication #inspiration #asknursealice #theresilientnurse #mtl #nursing #nursinglife #simplenursing (at Greater Montreal)

. 😷Wait, but first let’s answer this Nursing Question. Now according to “The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma” recommends conducting a primary survey on all injured patients in order to identify all life-threatening injuries. The survey includes “ABCDE” which stands for? 1. Airway, Blood pressure, Cardiac performance, Disease, Excretion. . 2. Anxiety, Bones, Confusion, Dementia, Emotional status. . 3. Arterial pressure, Brain, Cardiac performance, Delirium, Electrolyte balance. . 4. Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure. . 😷Lacerations to the foot caused by a boat propeller! Able to utilize a tourniquet which was placed on the patient’s upper thigh which stopped the bleeding until the patient could be taken to a trauma center. . 😷Motorboat propeller injuries can be extensive due to severe mechanical damage and contamination with uncommon marine organisms. Blood loss and contamination may be underestimated at time of admission. . 😷Therapeutic triple antibiotic management and frequent irrigation and debridement are recommended. Multiple surgical procedures and extended hospitalization are often required with possible lifelong physical impairment. . 😷💊Tag a friend to help us spread this great nursing @NURSEpiration med education my @CardiacStrong Nurses! . ❤️TURN ON POST NOTIFICATIONS💪🏽 . . 🇲🇽🧔🏻 HAPPY NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY. (TURN UP THE VOLUME & ENJOY😅). #TagYourSibling . 🇲🇽🧔🏻Live a life of purpose. Lead by example. Give back to others. Lastly, put Familia first in everything. . 🇲🇽🧔🏻You don’t choose your siblings, they are God’s gift to you, as you are to them. Im just like streetlights along the road, they don’t make distance any shorter for you, but my vision is to light up the path making the walk worthwhile Katrina. . 🇲🇽🧔🏻My sisters compassion for others is contagious and I continue to inspire many all around the world to remember why I started this nursing journey. . 🇲🇽🧔🏻I've seen my little sister go out of her way to help others in need, giveback to the elderly, buy food for the homeless, patiently wait at the airport to pick me up when I land. She plans out her schedule for work and school accordingly and the list goes on. . 🇲🇽🧔🏻You can't fake having a big heart and you can't fake that kind of compassion for others. Which is why everyday should be “National Siblings Day” and not just today but growing up Hispanic with a BIG Familia is always something to appreciate and give thanks to. . 🇲🇽🧔🏻A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and a Mendoza team can only be as successful as its least loyal member. Write that down, so from day one, I realized that creating success wasn’t necessarily how much money I had, or having the right connections. Achieving success boils down to carefully whom you surround yourself with and also who’m you’re doing this for? . 🇲🇽🧔🏻Every day we have the opportunity to become who we want to be katrina, so start creating an environment that will lead you there and lets continue to push each other to improve, to help one another improve both as individuals and as a Mendoza unit, you will achieve greatness. I love you @dopeaskatrina14 Katrina. . Greetings my fellow nurses with today’s Surgical Saturday and don’t forget to swipe right. . This patient was an industrial worker who got their arm stuck in a machine for shaping & cutting metal & wood. The machine grabbed their arm and the patient almost suffered a complete amputation. . The forearm begins at the ulna and radius, attached to the distal end of the humerus. The wrist and finger flexors are located on the anterior side of the forearm . The median nerve, an important nerve of thumb opposition which runs over the pronator teres at the elbow and dives between the flexor digitorum superficialis and profudus before entering the wrist at the carpal tunnel. Now remember your anatomy my fellow @NURSEpiration Nurses.🙌🏽 . In cases of severe wrist or forearm lacerations, the median nerve can often be damaged, causing atrophy of the thenar (thumb) muscles. The posterior side of the wrist contains many wrist and finger extensors, and contains the ulnar nerve, which is important for hand sensation and extension. So hopefully this is bringing back your nursing school memory lane of anatomy & physiology. . Without an intricate combination of many small and large muscles in the forearm, a wide array of fine motor skills would be impossible. Therefore, this surgery used a reconstructive technique called a skin graft to repair the arm which uses artificial or sometimes even the patients own skin to repair the injury. . 😷💊Tag a friend to help us spread this great nursing @NURSEpiration medical education my @CardiacStrong Nurses! 😷. . ❤️TURN ON POST NOTIFICATIONS💪🏽 . . NURSE & DOCTOR RELATIONSHIP . What Can Nurses Do to Improve the Relationship with Doctors? . 1. Respect the doctor’s time. Physicians bounce from one patient to the next & time is a precious. It’s important that as nurses help them maintain a certain level of efficiency. For example, do not start conversations with “I’m sorry to bother you.” Be prepared for rounds, anticipate problems ahead of time & always have a chart in hand when calling an MD. . 2. I would also recommend to refrain from complaining about physicians to other staff members & instead confront them directly by speaking in private. If needed, get a manager for additional support. . 3. Be conscious of behaviors that affect the relationship. Thanking & acknowledging physicians with whom a good working relationship is present can go a long way, while identifying negative behaviors from MD’s where a positive relationship is lacking can be an important step in making things better. Make sense? Ok let’s move on to the next one. ——- Here’s a few recommendations for my fellow MD’s!!! . 1. A little respect goes a long way right? I know there’s many of us @CardiacStrong RNs working, but how about using a nurse’s name? That makes a huge difference & if a physician does not know it, it can be useful to ask, as simply doing so is a form of recognition. No worries at all. Simplicity at its finest. . 2. Be considerate of the nurse-patient relationship. When walking into the room, doctors should provide space when the nurse’s are interacting with the patient since we do spend most of the 12hrs at the bedside. Discuss the care plan for complicated cases directly with us nurses, as this helps doctors take full advantage of opportunities to educate most us @NURSEpiration nurses. . . 3. Lastly, Why not create a culture of inclusion. Inviting nurses on rounds by focusing on being a leader rather than a commander since we are all an integral part of the healthcare as a team. This will make all of us nurses more comfortable asking questions & sharing pt’s concerns without feeling inferior or troublesome. . .
