Karabella Dairy Features All Natural Gelato From Carabao’s Milk

My first encounter with Karabella Gelato happened in one of the Ultimate Taste Test activities for startup food entrepreneurs a few years ago. This relatively new ice cream brand has since made waves with its Pinoy flavors using 100% pure Carabao’s milk.

I recently went to Rustan’s Marketplace and found their lineup of unique flavors on the freezer, so I grabbed a couple of pints to try for myself. Karabella is proud in creating real dairy products made from carabao's milk to nourish our families and the families of the farmers they support.

Karabella is a social enterprise with the GK Enchanted Farm that offers fresh and real dairy products for everyone, using 100% fresh carabao milk alongside the best natural ingredients sourced from other social entrepreneurs and local farmers, thus helping them have sustainable incomes.

The name Karabella actually comes from the term "Caraballa" which is a female carabao. Karabella Dairy makes sure that all their products are authentic, with no alternative substances that may be harmful to one's health.

The ones that come in white pints are the Regular Flavors (P350) while the ones in black are the Premium Flavors (P450). I chose to bring home two flavors that I really wanted to try, the Sorvete De Manga and the Ube Halaya.

The Sorvete de Manga is one of the premium flavors of Karabella Dairy. This is their version of mango sticky rice turned into a gelato. I love how thick and creamy their ice cream is. You can really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients they used.

Their Regular variants offer very unique Filipino flavors like Ube Halaya, Salted Egg Caramel, Tablea Chocolate, Roasted White Chocolate Cashew, Peanut Butter and even Turon with Langka. They also come up with new flavors every time so there’s always something exciting to try. Karabella Gelato is a refreshing companion especially during these hot summer days.

Good Morning! What a way to start May’s #FoodFriday with an early morning healthy breakfast meal with DVF Dairy Farm’s Gatas ng Kalabaw!

Here’s a recipe we found on how Joey leveled up his simple morning oatmeal using Carabao Milk’s creamy and luxurious texture.

Carabao’s Milk Oatmeal with Dates & Nuts

Serves 2 to 3

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup DVF Dairy Farm’s Gatas ng Kalabaw

1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats

1/4 cup dates, chopped

1/4 nuts of your choice (these would be great with pecans), roughly chopped

Optional: bananas, 2 tablespoons butter and 2 teaspoons dark muscovado sugar

Preparation:

Set aside some of the chopped dates and nuts.

Heat the carabao’s milk in a saucepan over a medium flame just until it almost starts to simmer. 

Add the oats, dates, and nuts, stir, and lower the heat.

Cook over a gentle flame, with your pot semi-covered, stirring occasionally, until oatmeal is done, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Make sure to keep checking, especially towards the end to prevent it from sticking.

Served topped with extra chopped dates and nuts.

If you want to make this even more decadent: 

Melt butter in a pan. When the bubbles have subsided, add the muscovado sugar and swirl the pan until the muscovado is dissolved.

Add the extra chopped dates and nuts and toss.

Top each serving of oatmeal with sliced banana, some of the caramelized dates and nuts and whatever butter remains.

Remember to appreciate a good meal with healthy ingredients fresh from the farm!
