How do You Know If Your Audi Needs a New Battery?
Tumblr media
Battery has become a very important part of automobiles now a days. Battery stores energy and plays very important role in making the engine run. As the electrical systems in new vehicles are increasing more and more, there is a need of more electricity to operate them. Luxury cars like Audi are equipped with various smart features which is operated by electricity. But these cars sometimes have the battery failure. Due to the battery failure owners of Audi face various challenges. There is a need to fix such issues at the earliest, so you have to identify the problem first by the help of different signs or symptoms.
Importance of battery
A battery is a device which stores energy in the form of chemical energy and then supplies the energy in the form of electricity. A battery supplies electricity to starter motor, the headlights, interior lights, the windshield wipers, etc. Battery makes the engine start by supplying it electricity when the start button is pressed. Without battery, it would be very difficult to start a vehicle. Battery comes to work whenever the alternator stops working.
So battery is one of the most important component of the vehicles now a days. When a battery gets some problems like unable to store enough power, unable to supply enough voltage, then various components which depend on electricity begin to malfunction. You may not be able to start your car at all. So whenever you get battery issues, you need to have your battery replaced or have some minor fixes if possible.
What causes battery to fail?
Old or leaking battery
If your car battery have become too old, then the battery may show some unusual symptoms and may die frequently. Batteries have a period of warranty. If they show unusual symptoms during the period of warranty, then you can change the battery free of cost. If the battery is leaking electrolytes from it, then the battery may fail quickly. You need to fix the leakage before the battery fail completely.
Bad battery terminals.
The battery terminals get corroded due to which it gets a layer of corrosion around them which prevent the current flow. Highly corroded terminals may get damaged and replacement of battery becomes the only option. But if the battery terminals are not damaged, then you can have the cables removed carefully and then clean the terminals with the help of a clean moist bush or cloth.
Bad alternator
If the alternator is faulty, then it would not be able to charge the battery properly. If the battery is not charged properly, then it would quickly get fully discharged and die. You may not able to use the battery unless you get the battery charged in service stations.
Common signs of battery failure in Audi
A battery failure can lead to different issues. Before diagnosis, you have to be sure that your battery is failing, and for that, you need to look for the signs of battery failure. Here you will know about all the common battery failure signs.
Car hesitating to start
If your Audi has a bad battery, then the car would not start at all. You may able to crank the car, but the engine would not start at all. The battery would fail to make the starter motor run properly as it would have a very low charge.
Car shuts of automatically
If your car is shutting down automatically, then battery can be the reason. Engine ignition system get electricity from the alternator and the battery. If the alternator stops providing current to the engine, then the battery starts providing energy. But if the battery has a very low charge, then the engine combustion process would not take place. The engine then turns down automatically when the battery dies.
Battery warning light
When the battery gets some issues, then the battery warning light on the dash glows to make the driver alert.
Dimming lights
As the lights get current from the battery, the battery failure makes the lights to turn dim.
Conclusion
If you get all these signs of battery failure, then get you battery tested and replaced. Have your battery repairs by a trusted car technician.

the thing with my car is so insane actually like they knew there was a problem with it when they sold it to me and instead of just like. fixing it. they said oh well there’s a 30 day warranty so you can just bring it back and we’ll fix it:) and not even a week later i had to bring it back in to get it fixed. it’s still not fixed. and on one hand, it is nice they’ve been loyal to the warranty cause i bought my car in november and all the “repairs” they’ve been doing technically still fall under that warranty even tho they’re still working on it. so it’s nice like im not getting charged for anything. which i am grateful for. but also why have these dumbasses not fixed it it’s been almost TWO full months !

-22F windchill is Pretty Chilly!! But I bundled right up, so I'm okay. My face doesn't like it, though. My lungs, too. Going full turtle mode, hunkering down in my coat collar and exhaling warm air up to keep my face warm. It works! Makes my glasses a condensation hell though. But struggling to see is worth keeping my face from getting frostbite lol. Lungs still don't like it tho.

Reasons that buying a pocket watch was an excellent life choice
Aesthetic
Seriously, so much my aesthetic that it's a crime I haven't had one before now
Helpful way to check the time without having to dig my phone out of my purse
It isn't strapped to my wrist where it can bump into things and get wet when I wash my hands
I can see if that A.A. Milne story was right about babies loving pocket watches. (Can find out for myself if baby will "Hark to the tick-tick.")

Oh yeah, I tried to go to the store last night and my car was deader than a doornail. I have to get labwork done (I've been putting it off) tomorrow, and I have to take an Uber there and back because my friends won't be able to jump my car until later that evening. 😩

Finished my first day at work
Went good and cleaned 2 houses. Was a little slow and kinda ditsy because I was new to the houses and how my boss cleans but we went faster than expected and got in a rhythm by the end.
We go back to my boss’ house where my car is parked because we carpool and I get in to leave… car won’t turn. I turn it off to reset the wheel and… doesn’t start at all.
Me and my boss learned how to jumpstart the car together and got home. My mom very begrudgingly went to go get the car battery changed (begrudgingly because she didn’t wanna go to town today but it needed to be done because we both work all week…)
And I now lay here in bed waiting for death (a nap) to take me.

I told you emergency bulbs and a car battery were a great investment last year, yet i'm still saving my phone battery and my traffic for emergency stuff
Three days ago our basement got flooded and all of the power lines there got absolutely fried. Some of our electric stuff too probably, but it hasn't been on yet, they spent nearly two days on trying to empty the completely flooded basement and only started working on electric part today🤙

Crazy to me how humans have literally made life so difficult for ourselves for no reason at all. Like why do we have to pay for water monthly when it literally falls from the sky? Why is a super simple one bed, one bath “house” (cheaply made of course) easily between $250k-$400k and someone would have to pay a high monthly payment with a 20% interest rate to have it? Why did we choose these numbers? When did we make prices for food so high, create mortgages, student loans, and car payments? Who created interest rates? Why does my entire future depend on a credit score? A number we ourselves made up. Why did we go the extra mile and decide to tax ourselves? For what purpose? When did we decide that we need to have a certain level of education to succeed and if you don’t have it you are obviously a failure at life. When did we say “yes, this seems good, I want to pay astronomical amounts of money for literally everything and make everything as stressful as possible for no reason at all?” Why do I owe money for having money (taxes)? Why can’t I pay for stuff with rocks? That cat I see sleeping in a warm beam of sunlight (and living a happier life than I) doesn’t have a credit score, it doesn’t have to pay extreme amounts of money for a home, it doesn’t have to pay for water that falls from the sky, it doesn’t have to worry about interest rates, it doesn’t know what the Pythagorean theorem is, it doesn’t have a car payment, a set of tires doesn’t cost it easily $1,000 in one go, it didn’t make applying for a home or a car an exhausting endeavor, it doesn’t have to work 40+ hours a week working on stuff that we made up all for a check that doesn’t even reasonably cover any expenses (that once again we forced on ourselves). So why are we?? Why can’t we help ourselves out and make rent $10 a month? Why can’t a good credit score be a 10 instead of 700-800? Why can’t a mansion be $10,000 instead of a million? Let’s make grocery shopping easier by trading cool rocks and pieces of clay pottery and buttons and other neat things for food. What’s stopping us from doing that? Why did we create the most complicated system? “The entire system would collapse, there would be anarchy, everything would shut down, society would explode!!!” Why?? Over numbers and problems we made up ourselves? It’s all made up!! Why did we make it so hard? We could have made things so easy and have a perfectly workable society. We could have the most bonkers system and could all be schooling life right now if we paid for stuff with pretty things we find in abundance and made houses cost like one pretty vase and a loaf of bread you bought with your cool acorn stash and made cars only cost a packet of tomato seeds with no interest rates in sight, didn’t make the production of goods and supplies so expensive, and if we simply didn’t tax ourselves, and if education/the school system was literally just learning all sorts of things that could help you live a happy, self sufficent, simple, productive life the way you want to live it (if you want to learn about history, languages, how to work on cars, or build robots, or cooking, or music, making pottery, or conducting science experiments, learning about medicine, or playing sports or whatever you could do so) and it wouldn’t cost you your first born child, and if we didn’t have mind numbing jobs trapped in windowless buildings doing things that shouldn’t actually matter or exist but we made them so. Why did we make it so hard??

Oh for sure I'm aware we're nowhere near having batteries that could work for this. Increasing the capacity of the batteries so you can get as far in one charge as anyone should be driving in a day anyway is definitely the sensible focus, as things stand.
But for much smaller battery-driven appliances, like chainsaws and lawnmowers, which are generally designed these days with removable batteries the size of small bricks, being able to keep one battery on the charger while you work and swap them out instead of halting everything so the device can nap extends its usefulness hugely.
So should there be a sufficient leap forward in battery technology to do that with cars, it would make the dang machines much more practical.
Okay also I’ve been driving electric cars long enough now to be really emphatic that the fact that they’re not all automatically built with solar panels in the roofs is a scandal.
And somehow almost every time I tell anyone this they roll their eyes and attempt to explain to me that this would not create a perpetual motion machine because of the limitations of the area relative to the power draw of the motor, which is incredibly annoying because that’s not the point.
Yes it’s possible that driving in the sunshine with a solar collector dripping into the battery would net you a little more mileage on that trip before needing recharge, but the usefulness of a solar-topped electric car is that if you drive it someplace–say, to work–and leave it outside in the sun all day, you’ll definitely have more range available by the time you’re ready to head home.
Also if you fuck up your calculations because of the inefficiency induced by cold weather or something and get yourself stranded without anywhere to charge, like halfway up a mountain or, more likely, six miles from home, you can call for rescue or walk away, come back later, and it’ll be able to move again.
This is important because unlike running out of gas you can’t really go get some electricity.
