I think she’d go that far for repTV because that album to me is more performance metaphor than performance art. It challenged people to work to define the concept/purpose of it and it’s her greatest example of plausible deniability.
It’s also why reputation is a great album, but was snubbed at the Grammys—because the people who vote on the Grammys (for example) weren't given the answers to their questions about it beforehand. They didn't get it.
Look at this scenario:
The world’s biggest pop star announces she’s taking a break, but is instead bullied into hiding for a year. She comes back with a new album built around a theme of secrecy and says “there will be no explanation, just reputation.”
People didn't know how to take the album because it wasn’t a typical Taylor Swift album. She didn't really do any interviews about it, but she did tell people that any preconceived notions they had would be wrong (aka, the slideshows of men).
The theme of a “secret relationship” and how it made people question things:
Who was she in this secret relationship with?
Who is Joe Alwyn?
Where had she been for the past year?
Why wasn’t Karlie Kloss on the t-shirt?
What happened between she and Karlie Kloss? Are they still friends? Why did they fall out?
The way she portrayed a falling out with Karlie was the basis of the “secret relationship”. Because all she did was leave Karlie’s name off of a t-shirt and neither of them have spoken much about their relationship since. Karlie denied there was a rift. She showed up at the rep tour (where she posed for pictures backstage WITH Taylor) and the eras tour (where we all saw how Taylor was reacting and that she could spot her from the stage)
Taylor took one person’s negative perception which had been adopted by millions and embraced it as a rebirth. Because when snakes shed their skin, it’s a fresh start. When she fully shed her skin, we got lover, then folklore, evermore, midnights, TTPD. Albums with lyrics that are more open and vulnerable than her previous ones (for example, chase two girls, lose the 1).
The gradual leaning into being somewhat more comfortable in her new skin:
Rep: the rainbow dress in “end game”, using the caption “out now” when rep was released.
Lover: that whole aesthetic. The “Me!” video. False God.
Folklore: The 1, Betty, Seven(being used on the show Heartstopper after the creative team sent letters to Taylor and her team telling them how important it was for the scene and them being “very receptive” 😏).
Evermore: Ivy and letting it be used on Dickinson during a love scene between two lead female characters
Midnights: Maroon
Which all goes back to the performance metaphor of repTV, because her newly-assigned reputation is why she disappeared, but its also why she so wondrously and brutally by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance arrived here.
So given all that's going on as of late, maybe since she has embraced being a snake since 2016/2017, she's once again trying to shed her skin for another fresh start, but not in the environment she's currently placed herself in.
Excellent post, anon.

here’s my ts take:
i think debut is fine, great for something written at 14-15 and great for country radio at the time. fearless is great, it’s a phenomenal second album, but in the face of the rest of her discography it’s pretty neutral. speak now is weaker than fearless but the songs that hit HIT for real like dear john and last kiss are some of her best songs but there’s some major weak points on that album. red is a perfect transition from country -> pop and i don’t think it could have been better for the time, it is a perfect album for 2012 and i think it absolutely holds up (red tv does not), 1989 is a perfect pop album, the deluxe tracks are amazing too, although i think clean should have been her track 5 i’ll accept that it’s not and move on. reputation i love personally but i realize that it is not “good” or “very original” on her part. lover sucks, it’s worse than the best songs on debut, though dbatc and cruel summer are great (i actually have a theory that cruel summer only exists because she wanted to name it after the kanye comp. album...which is just objectively probably true because she’s obsessed with him still...as seen in the lyrics from peace where she capitalizes “robbers to the east, clowns to the West”) anyway. folklore was pretty great with the exception of a few very corny lyrics and a really shitty bonus song on the deluxe edition, the lakes is stupid and cringe for talking about getting canceled on the internet. generally all her music where she talks about “receipts” and “drama” is stupid and annoying. evermore was basically pointless. the best songs on evermore would have fit on a deluxe version of folklore and she didn’t need to make a full album for them most could be scrapped and i wouldn’t miss them. don’t even get me started on how much i hate taylor’s versions of almost everything plus i think almost all the vault tracks are just...trash. i bet you think about me and better man are the only vault tracks that i would ever consider good enough to make it onto the main album. we do not need all this content, at this point it’s just quantity over quality. where she used to make a concise album (red/1989 especially) she now just puts out as much shit as she can think of (even saying in an insta caption that she wants to share her creative process more or some bs like that) and then midnights comes along, just the epitome of everything wrong with taylor swift at the moment. boring, bland, nothing. terrible.

84 Taylor Swift Lyrics For Parties & Your Bejeweled Insta Pics
Oct. 31, 2022
Tumblr media
If Midnights by Taylor Swift has been on repeat lately, then you probably agree that the pop-superstar is a mastermind when it comes to writing hits. Even if she’s singing about gut-wrenching heartbreak or betrayal in a song, she always finds a way to make it an irresistible dance anthem with relatable lyrics to sing along to. Throughout her discography, she tells folklore about her glamorous Gatsby-esque parties, wine-influenced adventures, and even compares herself to a mirrorball at one point. Rain or shine, Swift’s always dancing — shaking off the haters and sipping something that shimmers. Grab these Taylor Swift lyrics for parties and sharing weekend polaroids of you spinning in that brand new dress.
Swift’s told us about countless late night adventures, like going to the “dive bar on the East side,” sipping cheap wine, and toasting to her “real friends.” Lines like,“Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend” give a Friday feeling like no other, even if you’re pouring out to dance away your “champagne problems.” Whether you’re taking squad pics with your besties on a night out or posting a fit pic featuring a “sequin smile, black lipstick,” or a“little black dress,” check out these Taylor Swift lyrics for party captions that scream “we are too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet.”
One of the major threads (or “invisible strings”) throughout Swift’s catalogue is how she illustrates glimmering stories of fateful events that happen during the night – which is no wonder she wrote Midnights. She’s sung about hosting parties, feeling alone in a crowded room, and even meeting a few lovers at black-tie balls and galas. Whether you’re drinking Old Fashions or “drunk on something stronger than the drinks in the bar,” these weekend lyrics will perfectly paint the picture of your own midnight mayhem under the “starlight.” Sing along to these 84 Taylor Swift lyrics for party Instagram captions.

MIDNIGHTS BY T.S.
I feel that after Folklore and Evermore, Midnights was a little bit revert back to pop and I honestly wanted more quill songs from Taylor Swift because those sound like they're stripped off from Shakespeare plays.
I was right about Labyrinth. It's one of the few songs from the album that I instantly liked on the first listen. I think I need to listen to the whole album to make it grow on me. I was also disappointed that Lana Del Rey did not have any verse whatsoever on Snow on the Beach. It felt like a wasted opportunity...
And then I heard the 3am Edition and I liked more songs from there but especially this song in particular:
I was working when I was listening to this track and had to rewind a little bit because I heard a lyric — nay a very specific date, that is highly unlikely for Taylor Swift to know about me. 😂
The refrain lyrics goes like this:
You know there's many different ways
That you can kill the one you love
The slowest way is never loving them enough
Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?
Do I really have to tell you how he brought me back to life?
Taylor. Miss Ma'am. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED DURING APRIL 29TH?! I am curious how April 29th could be so significant to you because I know why it's significant to me. I am in total shock that my date of birth would make history on one of your songs. I think I just may have a caption to use on my birthday. Thank you for that and thank you for this beautiful song. It almost feels as if it's written for me. 💙
Sincerely from the one born on April 29th,
Jl

midnights - mirrorball theory!!
(extremely long)
okay so we have all heard the theories about midnights being lover's sister album and the original ts8 that was planned before the pandemic. but let me do a small recap for those who haven't seen the theories
so taylor has talked about how with folklore and evermore those were the first albums where she didn't immediately start planning what's next after finishing and releasing an album. so she started planning ts8 after the release of lover this is from her apple music interview:
Tumblr media
we can see that there was a shift in eras towards the end of 2019 the rainbow of colours suddenly went dark and muted.
the same kind of vibes we are seeing now with midnights
Tumblr media Tumblr media
back to mirrorball...
taylor wrote mirrorball after loverfest got cancelled (and her original plans for ts8 were also put on hold)
"they called off the circus (loverfest) and burned the DISCO down (ts8)" - disco was very popular in the 70s/60s just like this kind of album cover...
Tumblr media
taylor also said in the long pond studio sessions that she imagined mirrorball happening at a lonely bar IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
and there's been many many nods to mirrorball since this era began, for example the maker of Taylor's VMAs dress used mirrorball lyrics in the caption they wrote
Tumblr media
another clue is the fact that the countdown on the merch store has MIRRORED numbers underneath JUST LIKE THE MIRRORBALL LYRIC VIDEO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and speaking of the mirrorball lyric video IT HAS THE SAME COLOURS AS THE MIDNIGHTS CDS
and if all that wasn't enough, taylor swift used an actual mirrorball in the lover era, in an interview about easter eggs WHILE talking about how she leaves easter eggs for things that won't come out till WAYYY later in interviews
Tumblr media
so anyway i think midnights will have huge mirrorball vibes (and yes i'm OBSSESSED with mirrorball)

Here Are All the Celebrities Who Have Attended Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour - Part 1
From Haim and Emma Stone to Shania Twain and Diplo, here are all the famous faces that have been spotted at Swift's various The Eras tour stops.
Posted August 19, 2024 - Billboard
It’s nice to have a friend, and Taylor Swift has plenty of famous pals that have been supporting her on her massive The Eras tour, which kicked off on March 17 in Glendale, Ariz.
Besides friends such as Haim, Laura Dern, Emma Stone and Shania Twain watching from the crowd and singing along to every word, Swift also surprised fans with onstage appearances. Despite telling Swifties during night one at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium that “we don’t have guests at this show,” the pop superstar invited Marcus Mumford, the Mumford & Sons frontman, for her debut live performance of “Cowboy Like Me,” from Swift’s chart-topping 2020 album, Evermore.
Other music stars have also gotten an invite from Swift to perform alongside her on the tour, including opener Gracie Abrams, frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner, Taylor Lautner, Phoebe Bridgers, Ice Spice, Maren Morris and more.
See below for all the celebrities who have made appearances at Swift’s The Eras tour stops, either in the audience or on stage, which we’ll be updating as the 14-time Grammy winner makes her way around the world.
Haim
Swift’s “No Body, No Crime” collaborators, “Bejeweled” music video co-stars and besties Haim were one of the first celebs spotted at The Eras tour, jamming along to the superstar’s many hits and dancing the night away on opening night.
See them via a video shared by People here. The sibling trio is also set to open for Swift later in the tour.
Emma Stone
The La La Land actress was just as much of a Swiftie as the rest of the Glendale crowd when she was spotted belting her heart out to the Fearless hit, “Love Story.”
Marcus Mumford
The Mumford and Sons frontman joined his longtime friend Swift onstage to perform Evermore‘s “Cowboy Like Me” in Las Vegas.
“Last night in Vegas Marcus Mumford showed up and surprised the crowd with ‘Cowboy Like Me’ so like [mind blown emojis],” Swift captioned a photo of the moment on Instagram. See the post here.
Chloë Grace Moretz
Like Stone, Moretz was loving the “Love Story” part of the show in Las Vegas.
Emma Watson
The Harry Potter star was seen having the time of her life with Este Haim, dancing during the Vegas tour stop.
Diplo
“I kinda know the lyrics,” the DJ wrote on his Instagram Stories while dancing along to “Anti-Hero” in Las Vegas. He also confirmed that he’s a “motherf—ing Swiftie now.”
Shania Twain
Shania Twain is all about the girl power, and the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” superstar had the time of her life dancing to the 1989 single “Blank Space” in Vegas. “What a show,” she wrote on Instagram.
Laura Dern
After taking her family to opening night of The Eras tour, Swift’s “Bejeweled” co-star took to Instagram to share a snap smiling with the superstar. “Celebrating our amazing buddy’s first show of tour. Extraordinary. Found family,” she captioned the post, which you can see here.
Emma Roberts
Yes, yet another Emma was at The Eras’ Vegas stop, as she was spotted taking videos and dancing with sunglasses on to the tune of “Style.”
Watch here.
Ellen Pompeo
Another “Blank Space” fan is Ellen Pompeo’s daughter Sienna, who starred in her mother’s Instagram Stories singing along to the track in Las Vegas.
Selena Gomez
Swift’s longtime friend showed up for her at the April 1 show in Arlington, Texas. Selena and her little sister Gracie each dressed up as a Taylor Swift era — Folklore and Speak Now, respectively — and Gomez was spotted screaming along to “Cruel Summer.”
Jack Antonoff
Swift’s prolific producer pal Antonoff also made it to see the star in Arlington on April 1. “holy shit,” he captioned an Instagram Stories video taken during the emotional stage production of “August,” a Folklore favorite that he co-wrote and co-produced. Swift also took a special request from Antonoff that night: “Death By a Thousand Cuts,” which was one of the surprise songs on her set list.
J.J. Watt
Former Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt took to Instagram to rave about his experience at opening night of The Eras tour. “So much respect @taylorswift,” he captioned a video sharing his thoughts about the concert. “When your fans pay for a ticket, they are getting their money’s worth and some.”
Danica Patrick
“We were all so in the moment that we didn’t take many pictures together and I didn’t even take that many videos,” the former race car driver wrote on Instagram. “@taylorswift sang 44 songs and it was the most amazing concert I have ever seen. Swiftie for life.”
Samara Weaving
Samara Weaving was also in attendance on opening night in Glendale, Ariz., and the Scream VI actress took her Instagram Stories to share a few moments from the crowd.
Cara Delevingne
The model took her social media game at The Eras concert to the next level, and actually livestreamed the show on her Instagram account.
Ethan Hawke
It was the ultimate crossover when Hawke was spotted chatting with Selena Gomez at the Arlington, Texas, tour stop.
Aaron Dessener
Aaron Dessner enjoyed the first of Swift’s three Tampa concerts from the audience, and then joined her on the stage two nights in a row for the live debut of two songs. On April 14, they performed “The Great War” together. On April 15, they had a special moment at the piano for “Mad Woman.”
Billy Joel
Billy Joel and his family seemed to have a blast seeing Swift live. “Rockin’ into our new ‘era’ thank you @Taylorswift we loved the show!” he wrote on Instagram, where he shared photos from the concert and a video clip of his young daughters dancing around to “…Ready for It?”
Joseph Kahn
Grammy Award-winning director Joseph Kahn happily checked in via Instagram Stories from a VIP tent at the April 21 Eras Tour stop in Houston. After the show he wrote, “Irrespective of our friendship, this is my honest opinion: @taylorswift is putting on the show of a lifetime with the Eras Tour. It’s as big, bold, and artistic as any of the great pop stars of history. It’s fueled by her imagination and her soul. It’s stunning and beautiful.” Kahn worked on a number of music videos with Swift: “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods,” “Look What You Made Me Do,” “…Ready for It?”, “End Game” and “Delicate.”
Matty Healy
Matty Healy was spotted at Swift‘s concert in Nashville on Friday (May 5), sparking further speculation that the two music stars are romantically involved.
Earlier in the week, rumors surfaced that the The 1975 frontman and pop superstar are “massively proud and excited about this relationship,” according to a source cited by The Sun. The report followed news of Swift’s split from her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn in early April.
At the show, during her performance of “Cardigan,” fans were quick to notice Swift mouthing the same words to that Healy was filmed saying before The 1975’s performance of “About You” in Manila on May 3.
“This one is about you. You know who you are. I love you,” they both mouthed to the crowd on the separate occasions.
Mariska Hargitay
After sharing some photo memories with Swift from tours past via an Instagram Story earlier in the day, the Law & Order star was spotted on the floor at Nissan Stadium in Nashville at the May 6 show of The Eras Tour.
She returned for more on May 26! Hargitay attended one of Swift’s New Jersey shows and posted a video about her experience on Instagram the next day. “I’m sitting here basking in the glow of last night, Taylor’s concert, which was so amazing. I can’t even get over that woman. Three-and-a-half hours of pure magic,” she gushed. She also showed off a little collection of gifts she received from Swifties: “50 of these friendship bracelets from last night. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave me their friendship bracelets. It was so sweet.”
Reese Witherspoon
“What a night to remember!” Witherspoon gushed on Instagram after Swift’s May 6 concert in Nashville. “@taylorswift in front of 70,000 incredible fans.”
“The stellar song choices, inspired choreography, other-worldly art design … an incredible night to dance, sing and feel so much JOY .. thank you @taylorswift and the whole ERAS tour team for shining so bright tonight.”
Witherspoon shared a clip from the Midnights era of the show, with Swift performing “Bejeweled.”
Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter was overcome with emotion during Swift’s concert at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on May 12. The singer and actress took to her Instagram Story to share a tearful moment while watching the show. “don’t hmu,” Carpenter captioned the clip. “unless you are HER,” she added to a follow-up post of Swift performing.
Candice King
Former The Vampire Diaries star Candice King was among the Swifties who attended the rain-delayed show in Nashville on May 7. “A Four hour weather delay (and every canned cocktail we brought in our to go cooler… and then maybe some of the canned cocktails our driver surprised us with) later… and the show went on!” the actress captioned a carousel of photos and videos on her Instagram account. “So much running, so much dancing, and even more singing all in the warm spring midnight rain.”
Blake Lively
Swift’s longtime friend Blake Lively was in attendance with her daughters James, 8, and Inez, 6, during the singer’s May 12 concert at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
During the show, Swift gave a sweet shout-out to the two youngsters while performing her Red track “All Too Well.” “Hi James, hi Nezzy!” the superstar appeared to mouth from the stage.
After the concert, Swift was seen exiting the stage with Lively and her children. In a fan-captured video, the smiling songstress was seen holding hands with James and waving to fans, while Lively held Inez.
Lena Dunham
The Girls TV series creator was in attendance during Swift’s second night at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on May 13. In honor of Dunham’s 37th birthday, Swift performed Fearless deep cut “Forever & Always” during the surprise song portion of her set.
“This is a request from my friend Lena. It’s her birthday today, so I’m absolutely going to grand that request and also wish her a happy birthday,” Swift told the sold-out crowd. “She wanted to hear — and she’s here tonight, that’s also important. I’m not just doing this to send to her later. She wanted to hear ‘Forever & Always.'”
Jennifer Lawrence
It was quite a crowd that surrounded Jennifer Lawrence once she was spotted at the VIP tent at Philadelphia’s Sunday night (May 14) show. The actress took the time to interact with fans, even attempting to take group photos while staying on her side of the barricade.
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman showed up to night three in Philly, leaving fans wondering whether the couple was just there to see the show, or whether Urban — who was also seen taking selfies with Swifties — might join Swift onstage for their vault track “That’s When.”
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
After sharing a passionate kiss at Coachella in April 2023, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello were spotted together at Swift’s concert in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 26.
In fan-captured photographs taken at MetLife Stadium, the “Stitches” singer, 24, and “Havana” songstress, 26, were seeing enjoying a night out during the first of three sold-out shows at the massive N.J. venue. A video circulating on social media sees the pair strolling to their seats in the VIP section, Mendes rocking a sleeveless white shirt and blue jeans and Cabello sporting a black halter top and colorful skirt.
Check out the fan-captured photos and videos on Twitter below.
Lin-Manuel Miranda
The Hamilton creator was spotted in the VIP tent on May 26 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, posing with Molly Ringwald and Mariska Hargitay, and checked in from the show on Instagram later on, quoting one of Swift’s Midnights songs. “…what if I told you I’m a mastermind (@taylorswift ftw, what an incredible show),” he wrote.
Maren Morris
The country star also posted clips from the May 26 concert at MetLife from the moments that Swift performed “You Belong With Me” (Morris joked, “She’s gonna be huge someday!” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (with Morris giving the camera the middle finger).
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers had the time of his life during Swift’s concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 27. The New York Jets quarterback was spotted dancing up a storm during the pop superstar’s performance of “Style,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014. Earlier in the show, the Super Bowl winner revealed in an Instagram Story video that he was attending the sold-out show with Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller and the actor’s wife, Keleigh.
Miles and Keleigh Teller
Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh, were spotted at Swift’s concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 27. The couple attended the sold-out show with New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was spotted dancing up a storm during the pop superstar’s performance of her 1989 hit “Style.” Minutes before Swift hit the stage, Rodgers captured the Tellers in a video on his Instagram Story, captioning the post, “Taylor Time.”
Fletcher
Fletcher tweeted after Swift’s May 28 show at MetLife Stadium that “singing ‘clean’ with a stadium full of people at the top of your lungs in New York while deep in your feelings hits different. thank you taylor.”
An Instagram Story video of Swift performing “Clean” at the piano — it was one of her surprise songs of the night — was captioned: “an artist for the ages. blown away.”
Paul Rudd
Fans spotted actor Paul Rudd at Swift’s MetLife Stadium show in New Jersey on May 28. One fan photo shows him accepting a friendship bracelet, and another shows off the “13” he has written on his hand for the special occasion.
Bradley Cooper
Add Bradley Cooper to the list of famous names to catch one of Swift’s celeb-stacked New Jersey shows. The snapshot below was captured by a fan on May 28.
Drew Barrymore
The Drew Barrymore Show talk show host raved about Swift’s show after attending the final of three Eras Tour stops in East Rutherford. “I LOVE YOU TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!!!!” she posted on Instagram, sharing photos from the night. “You are the role model all of us girls and women need. Thank you for one of the best nights of our lives. We are so lucky to have seen your show… You transcend. And make life beautiful. Everyone passing beaded bracelets around. Witnessing the good.”

During the show, the Public Enemy co-founder documented his enjoyable experience on social media with fellow fans. “THANKX to all my new friends,,, luv my fellow Swifties,” the iconic clock-wearing MC tweeted alongside a video of himself rocking an all-red outfit.
Flav would latter attend Swift’s show in Hamburg, Germany on July 23, 2024, during which the pop star would give him a sweet shoutout from the stage. “Shout out back to @taylorswift13 @taylornation13 and her team and family for having me,!!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾” the rapper tweeted afterward.

Toni Collette
The Hereditary actress saw Swift in Cincinnati and raved about the show on Instagram. “Your talent is immeasurable and your generosity boundless,” Collette wrote. “Thank you for sharing it all with the world. You bring endless joy and inspiration to many, including me. It’s bloody brilliant seeing you having the time of your life up there.”
Taylor Lautner, Joey King & Presley Cash
Fresh off the release of her re-recorded Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album, Swift was joined onstage by actors Taylor Lautner, Joey King and Presley Cash for the premiere of the singer’s action-packed “I Can See You” music video in Kansas City, Mo., on July 7.
Lautner, who briefly dated the singer in 2009, delighted the packed crowd by cartwheeling and backflipping onto the stage. King and Cash previously starred in Swift’s “Mean” video in 2011.
“WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out,” Swift tweeted alongside behind-the-scenes photos from the self-directed video. “I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music.”
Eddie Vedder
The Pearl Jam frontman was spotted with his family at Swift’s Saturday night (July 22) Eras show in Seattle. Wife Jill posted a closeup of Eddie’s collection of friendship bracelets on Instagram, as well as several Instagram Stories from the concert — including a photo of their children taking a selfie with Swift backstage, and one of Eddie that she labeled “best dad ever.”
Eddie, dressed for the occasion in a sequin jacket over a T-shirt that appeared to say “It’s me, hi, I’m the father it’s me,” seemed in good spirits at Lumen Field, where he chatted with fans who stopped to say hello and give him a bracelet at the VIP tent. One Swiftie even got him to film a sweet happy birthday video for her dad: “Get yourself a nice coat,” he suggested, pointing to his own sequin getup.
Simu Liu
The Shang-Chi and Barbie actor attended the July 23 show at Seattle’s Lumen Field. Afterward, he shared photos from the show, and the friendship bracelets he received.

Taylor Swift Remakes Heartbreak Odyssey With Red (Taylor’s Version)
90/100
The 2012 LP’s re-recording is a massive, rewarding work anchored by 10-minute “All Too Well”
Written By Bobby Olivier
Red was already Taylor Swift’s greatest album, her bittersweet spot between the confessional heartache that defined the megastar’s earliest songwriting and the stadium-pop grandeur that would inform her next trio of colossal LPs (1989, Reputation and Lover).
It was the ultimate millennial breakup album, a touchstone of lovelorn devastation, fury, hope and reflection for all those suburban teens and twenty-somethings similarly figuring their shit out — the era of “happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time.”
And of course, Red, released in 2012, was a commercial mammoth; seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, certified seven times platinum and earning Swift her first Hot 100 No. 1 single in “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” It was the project that planted her flag as a mainstream monolith ready for further domination.
Now, as Swift continues her unprecedented run of re-recording and releasing her first six albums in an effort to own her masters (after a lengthy legal battle involving her old label Big Machine Records and super-manager Scooter Braun), Red (Taylor’s Version), out on November 12, was destined to be a slam dunk, even if it was an exact facsimile with no add-ons.
But as Swift is the reigning empress of extra beyond extra, the new Red — her second re-release (following April’s Fearless) — is a gargantuan, extended revisitation of her fan-worshipped fourth album: 30 songs including nine previously unreleased “vault” tracks from those writing sessions, among them a doubly long cut of her bleeding ballad “All Too Well,” her single finest piece of songwriting to date.
To listen to such an expansive project, clocking in at a whopping 130 minutes, in one sitting is a task perhaps reserved for the most devout Swifties — in the same stretch you could watch Citizen Kane and still have time for a 10-minute “Flow and Let Go” Peloton meditation. Or you could listen to Mannequin Pussy’s latest EP nine times.
But in totality, Red (Taylor’s Version) is a highly rewarding listen for fans both casual and manic, bolstered by its excellent source material and Swift’s steady hand in rewriting her own looping history, with a few thrilling footnotes tacked on.
The feverishly anticipated 10-minute rendition of “All Too Well,” which is accompanied Friday by a Swift-directed short film starring Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf), is a triumphant revamp, further skewering Swift’s ex, actor Jake Gyllenhaal, whose messy split from Swift informs much of Red. Gyllenhaal may or may not be locked in a bunker during this release weekend.
“You never called it what it was ‘til we were dead and gone and buried,” Swift sings, the new lyrics injected with extra fervor. At least half a dozen lines added here are destined for Instagram captions, among them “you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath” and “just between us, did the love affair maim you, too?”
Is this to suggest Jake cheated on Taylor? Either way, the new version is a melodramatic masterpiece, sure to gleefully devastate the fanbase with a more rounded, chugging arrangement shepherded by superproducer and Swift’s regular collaborator Jack Antonoff. While Nashville veteran Chris Rowe handled production on all the original tracks, Antonoff and more recent partner (see: folklore and evermore svengali) Aaron Dessner of The National split work on the newbies.
The original songs are intended note-for-note recreations, though the album’s production feels more open and airy this time, with less of the weighty compression that made for fine early ‘10s pop songs — Red was Swift’s first work with mega-producers Max Martin and Shellback — but lost some of the personality of Swift’s previous releases. The electro-infused “I Knew You Were Trouble” feels especially altered.
And to be frank, Swift, 31, is a much better singer now. Tone, power, texture; all of it has improved over the last decade, forging warmer and more even performances.
As for the new (or new to listeners) tracks, “Message in a Bottle” and “The Very First Night” are both pulsating, bygone-era sugar bops; “I Bet You Think About Me” featuring Chris Stapleton is a twangy “Piano Man” disciple that doesn’t give Stapleton enough to do; “Run,” with Ed Sheeran, is a mid-tempo road trip winner; and “Forever Winter” is a B-side steeped in familiar “don’t go” desperation.
The best of the bunch is “Nothing New,” a welcome pairing of Swift and indie noble Phoebe Bridgers, whose delicate crooning imbues a subtle woe over the track’s acoustic guitar and light strings. The song, which hinges on the question “will you still want me when I’m nothing new” is brilliant in its double meaning — is it meant for Swift’s romantic partner, or her listeners and the music industry at large, known for chewing up and spitting out its ingenues?
“How can a person know everything at 18 then nothing at 22,” Swift sings, of then-new adulthood, a line which travels time to mirror “when you are young they assume you know nothing,” in “Cardigan,” Folklore’s lead single last July.
In those 16 months, Swift has released four albums — folklore, evermore, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) encompassing 90 songs and swelling her catalog at a pace that cannot possibly be sustained. At some point she’s going to have to play some of this stuff live.
But for now, Red 2.0 is another towering victory, which should be coveted by fans as Swift is surely already onto the next re-recording, furthering the worthwhile fight.

Coincidences that are keeping me up all night:
12 May 2015
Louis went to Snoop Dogg’s album release party. He got papped as he left. A mysterious blonde in those pics would be reported as having his baby later. I’m not posting the cursed pic. We all know which one.
12 May 2017
Exactly two years later, Harry released his solo debut album. His album cover looks like he’s dramatically crying in the bathtub with pink water. Or maybe he’s trying not to make that honking laugh. Guess we’ll never know which one for sure, because we only see his back.
Tumblr media
Horseback riding happened to be one of H’s favourite things to do, according to his answer in FOURPLAY. Aka the game in which he said “not that important” to female being a trait he looks for in a lady.
But that obviously has nothing to do with said Snoop Dogg’s album cover two years prior. With blue horse dog nibbling on green bush in front of the trees and green screen. His name & album name in capital letters on top left and right.
Tumblr media
Although Louis styled his name & album name the same way on WALLS album cover, too. In which he’s just sitting there looking like a prisoner. But that’s unrelated. Obviously, Snoop Dogg couldn’t be a bluegreening Larrie who knew what was going to happen in advanced, right?
Tumblr media
11 Oct 2017
Before Louis dropped the masterpiece that is his WALLS album. He released Just Like You on National Coming Out day first. 25 and it’s all planned.
2 Feb 2019
Harry just turned 25. Louis posted 3 pics on IG with the caption: It’s coming… the first picture is in a film reel with a very interesting number on top corner: 22. Guess what else had already happened in film reel? Taylor Swift’s 22 MV. In which the party at the end fit quite nicely with Night out and it’s 10 grand. Which in turn, looks like Taylor’s End Game MV & maybe Louis’s Miss You MV (where you see ME on the wall to his left in the middle of the song & a vertical Style to his right at the end of the song.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
26 Apr 2019
Taylor released her single ME! on Lesbian Visibility Day
13 Dec 2019
Taylor just turned 30.
Harry released Fine Line. Thus, digging up Haylor grave. Headlines that I can’t stand.
31 Jan 2020
It’s the last day that Harry was 25 years old.
But you only get half of the story. Luckily, we get each half from two people to make it whole.
Louis released his WALLS album. He said it’s his most honest album so far. Okay, Princess Park.
Taylor released Only The Young for her Miss Americana Documentary. Prior to this, she already sang: There’s nothing like this Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince. Effectively calling out her own documentary as half bulls*it in advance with Lover. Of course, Cornelia Street.
23 July 2020
Taylor released folklore, on the 10th anniversary for the first day of One Direction.
Track 15 peace (Your integrity makes me feel small. You paint dreamscape on the wall.) did kill my mind far too many times to count. First, by being The Number: 28-13=15. The difference between Louis’s number and Taylor’s number.
Second, by being the word on Louis’s white t-shirt in that “I love you first” interview before Haylor took over the gossip front pages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, the lyrics video looks like it could be the background filming location of Louis’s We Made It: Director’s cut. Let’s move on before I fall down that deep dark abyss of a rabbit hole.
11 Dec 2020
Taylor released evermore out of nowhere, right before Louis’s first livestream concert, no less.
12 Dec 2020
It’s the last day that Taylor was 30 years old.
Louis held his first livestream concert with a giant, golden H on his chest. He debuted Copy of a Copy of a Copy. Its lyrics just happened to match the visual cue in Taylor’s Willow MV. From the album she just dropped the day before. No biggie. Pure unadulterated coincidence, right? Definitely not

evermore first impressions!
willow - GIRL EUEJDNSKJDJEJD LOST IN YOUR CURRENT LIKE A PRICELESS WIINE!!!!! TAKE MY HAND!!! WRECK MY PLANS!!! THATS MY MAN!!!!!! girl this is so fcuking GOOD! gonna be 100% honest the 1 is a better album opening but this is so fucking good you guys. life was a willow and it bent right to your wind!!! ID COME BACK STRONGER THAN A 90’S TREND???? EVERY BAIT AND SWITCH WAS A WORK OF ART??? SHES SICK SHES REALLY SICK I SWEAR. the way she sings “that’s my man!” yes ma’am yes ma’am!!!!!! the parallel between “I knew you stepping on the last train” and then “you know my train could take you home” SHES SICK YOUR HONOR SHES SICK
champagne problems - okay we love a piano opener. i’m so conflicted on what i think this song is gonna be about. MORE TRAIN LYRICS GIRLIE. this really is this is me trying’s older, sadder sister. “our group of friends/don’t think we’ll say that word again” MA’AM??? SHE WOULD HAVE MADE SUCH A LOVELY BRIDE SUCH A SHAME SHES FUCKED IN THE HEAD??????? IM LOSIJG MY FUCKIJG MIND. taylor and joe wrote this together? we love a couple with shared mental illnesses
gold rush - jack antonoff do not let me down. GIRL THE HARMONIES AT THE VERY BEGINNING JUST GIVE ME A MINUTE. okay I can definitely see what they meant by this song being about being lost in a daydream, the juxtaposition between the chorus and the verses is AMAZING. this is just gorgeous’s older sister huh???? “ocean blue eyes/looking in mine/i feel like i might sink and drown and die” and “eyes like sinking/ships on waters/so inviting/i almost jump in”
‘tis the damn season - i can’t tell if i want this song to be christmassy or not. OH SO THIS IS JUST HOLIDATE. TAYLOR JUST WATCHED HOLIDATE AND WROTE A SONG ABOUT IT. this is a continuation of tim mcgraw, argue with the wall. NO BC TIM MCGRAW IS ABOUT LIKE A LOVE FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND THIS IS LIKE COMING HOME FROM COLLEGE AND REUNITING WITH THEM BC YOURE BOTH DEPRESSED AND LONELY
tolerate it - jesus christ i’m not emotionally ready for this. STOP THIS IS THE PRELUDE TO BETTER MAN. LIKE BETTER MAN IS AFTER SHES ALREADY LEFT BUT THIS IS BEFORE WHEN SHES STUCK AND KNOW SHE DESERVES BETTER BUT SHE JUST TAKES IT IM GONNA CRYYYYYYYYYYY. okay but i’m imagining the babe music video and that whole of like the doting housewife who gave up everything for her husband and does everything to make him happy but he just does not appreciate it at all and he doesn’t see how much his indifference hurts her. @taylorswift mv now. honestly? loved that but as a track 5 it’s pretty weak
no body, no crime - I PREDICTED THIS WAS GONNA BE MY TOP SONG ON THE ALBUM LETS SEE IF I’M RIGHT. GIRL THE SIRENS AND “HE DID IT” AS THE FIRST LINES?? THEN THE COUNTRY INSTRUMENTAL??? TAYLOR HAS FINALLY GIVEN ME A GOOD OLD FASHIONED “MURDERED MY CHEATING HUSBAND” COUNTRY SONG HELL YESSSSSSS. OH THE WIFE IS MISSING???? NOT GONE GIRLLLLLLLLL MISS TAYLOR CHANNELING AMY DUNNE HERE!!!!! OH SHUT UPPPPPP SHES A LESBIAN WITH ESTE’S SISTER AND THEY COVERED UP HIS MURDER AND NOW THEYRE GONNA LESBIAN TOGETHER MISS TAYLOR
happiness - okay miss happiness you’ve got a lot to live up to but let’s do this. NOT THE MIRRORBALL PARALLEL “i was dancing when the music stopped” and “when no one is around, my dear/you’ll find me on my tallest top toes/spinning in my highest heels, love” NOT THE IDEA OF CHANGING YOURSELF JUST TO KEEP SOMEONE BY YOUR SIDE IM GONNA SOB taylor please stop this i cant emotionally handle any of this. girl this is the prelude to tolerate it which is the prelude to better man
dorothea - okay so seven’s older sister? so dorothea and whoever this singer is were besties when they were teens and then dorothea moved away and now the singer misses her former best friend and also first love and also they’re lesbians yeah it’s gay it’s so gay. taylor i’m literally begging you from the bottom of my fucking soul please give us a music video with two girls please miss swift i ask of you this one (1) thing
coney island - see i thought this was gonna be seven’s older sister when the tracklist was announced so now idk what to expect! JESUS OKAY I KNOW IT SAYS “feat. The National” IN THE TITLE BUT I FORGOT AND I GOT SCARED BY HIS VOICE. NOT A FUCKIJG CAR ACCIDENT TAYLOR IM REALLY SORRY I RRALIZE YOU ARE YOUR OWN PERSON AND I NEED TO STOP CONNECTING YOU TO HARRY BUT REALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. okay anyway here’s my theory hear me out: This is dorothea’s husband who’s confused why his high school sweetheart wife doesn’t love him anymore and why she’s now hanging out with her old high school best friend again damn that’s weird they’re like really super close that’s super odd. anyway that’s just a theory I actually don’t really know what this songs about! miss swift is too smart for me
ivy - stop this song is so sweet!!!!!! i feel like this is getaway car’s sister! i need to stop doing that i know it gets annoying but really honestly it is! NO NO NO THIS IS DOROTHEA’S PERSPECTIVE WHEN SHE HAS AN AFFAIR WITH HER HS BESTIE AND HER HUSBAND STARTS TO FIND OUT GUYS IVE FIGURED IT OUTTTTTTT. WAIT WAIT WAIT THE HS BESTIE IS FROM NO BODY NO CRIME AND DOROTHEA IS ESTE’S SISTER GUYS IVE FIGURED IT THE FUCK OUT YOU GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I GOT IT
cowboy like me - let’s yee and let’s haw ladies and gents. WHOS SINGING????? WHOS SINGING WITH HER???? taylor shut up for a second lemme hear who tf this is. AM I CRAZY OR IS THIS JOE???? i’m probably dumb. but am i? why can i not at all remember what joe’s voice sounds like rn. is that joe??? im so confused. maybe i’m super dumb and it’s really obvious and i’m just fucking stupid. it’s probably not joe it’s probably some country legend that everyone else knows bc they grew up yeeing and hawing and i’m but a wee city slicker but i’m gonna hold onto this stupid theory that it’s joe singing with her until someone proves me wrong later. also this song is fucking gorgeous where’s my cowboy hat not wearing one while listening to this song makes me feel sacrelige. okay wait tay and aaron wrote this one is it aaron? i’m sorry taylor i don’t listen to the national you can hate me if you want
long story short - god the production on this slaps!!!!! and the idea of being hurt before and then finding your love and being all about them and not even caring abt what happened before!!!!! god i’m gonna cry i’m gonna cry. NO MORE KEEPING SCORE NOW I JUST KEEP YOU WARM?????? taylor really said “oh you’re not in love and i’m gonna make you feel like SHIT ABOUT IT” taylor pls a petition to let us say “BITCH” after the last line so it’s “i survived...bitch!” okay pls and thank you
marjorie - oh is this about taylor’s grandma :(((( i knew she used her name but this feels like it’s really all about her. babey. this is so sweet. taylor i love you
closure - okay the opening??? slaps! literally! okay the production of this is interesting! okay i’m like trying to figure out who this is about....who cares this is so good. oh my god the distortion??? it just underlines the anger of it all so perfectly and i love
evermore - exile hive let’s GOOOO. please be an exile pt 2 pls be an exile pt 2. so odd to me because, as a whole, this actually feels like a way more happy and optimistic album than folklore did, yet the title comes from the line “i had a feeling so peculiar/that this pain would be for/evermore”. OKAY BON IVERRRRRR. the violence of the dog days? that’s my next instagram caption thanks taylor. NOT A DUET SECTION AGAIN LIKE IN EXILE TAYLOR PLEASE I CANT HANDLE THISSSSSSS. “we always walked a very thin line” AND “is there a line that we could just go cross?” THE PARALELLELLLLRJSNDBBD. I’m gonna die for this I really think. okay so she ends it on this pain wouldn’t last evermore so that’s good
overall? this is a masterpiece. miss swift has done it again. folklore aoty 2021 and evermore aoty 2022. no body, no crime is really THAT BITCH. i need a mv miss swift! okay bye gonna go cry over this
update: after listening all night i feel like i need to point out that i’m stupid and thought este was the mistress and the singer was the wife when in fact ESTE is the wife in no body, no crime. SO addendum to my theory: este and dorothea were besties in hs then dorothea left and got married and so did este but este’s hubby cheated so then este’s friend murders him and she’s cool w it, then dorothea and her husband move back home and este and dorothea reconnect and realize their long hidden feelings for one another, dorothea leaves her husband and she and este run away together
ANOTHER UPDATE: ‘TIS THE DAMN SEASON IS FROM DOROTHEA’S POINT OF VIEW!!!!!!!! WHEN SHE COMES HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND SHES SINGING TO ESTE!!!!!! CJNECNSJSNNDN

a few days ago, i was about to post an instagram feed after so long. the last time i posted was on july 2021. i had this urge to post because i was kinda inspired by the random pictures in my camera roll, with a dash of dazzcam magic.
then, i went through a brainstorm for the caption. it was hell of a brainstorm. i usually write funny, sassy, and punchy captions because that's what i thought people perceive me. i imprinted that personality to my social media presence. i thought that was me being true to myself.
but then i realized, why should i stay with the personalities that people see in me. why am i trying so hard to meet the nonexistent external standard, when i should set the standard myself. why am i being defined by what people see in me?
i am undefinable, i am complex, and sometimes i outgrew the personality in me. i should never limit myself to a certain picture in closed frame, crafted by other people. no one should ever.
i was so set to quote taylor swift's lyrics as my caption. i always wanted to. then i listened to a bunch of her songs on my playlist. i feel like i had to quote one of her non-mainstream songs, so people might think that i listened to taylor swift religiously. so i can be unique, charming. again with the people's perceptions.
then, i encountered a line from my favorite song of hers, champagne problems, which is one of her mainstream songs from evermore.
"One for the money, two for the show"
my all-time favorite line from champagne problems, yet this time it meant something for me personally. i looked it up. where the fuck does that line originate. turns out, it was a children's rhyme that goes:
one for the money,
two for the show,
three to get ready,
four to go.
basically, it is a more poetic yet mouthful version of "ready, set, go". But for me, it meant something else.
one for the money. ever since 2019, i've been running my ass off to find standing, financially. i'm chasing financial stability as i'm stepping into adulthood. most of the moments happened since then, most of the fights, most of the cries, were all for the money.
one for the show. other than financial stability, i was (and still is) trying too hard to show an oh-so-perfect image on my socials. i want people to see that i'm having fun even in the hardest time. i want them to wonder, to ask, and to be charmed. i was trying too hard to frame my life as if i'm making a script of a comedy tv show for people i don't even talk to. i think it's pathetic, to live merely for show.
alas, that's how i decided to use that line for the caption as the photos slide. it was a result of pathetic retrospective of my life.
