welsknight fanon v canon : aka the funniest contrast ive ever seen from fanon v canon.

heres the textless version and some thoughts

the contrast between canon and fanon with welsknight is so funny to me. every single fanon piece (usually writing but sometimes art) i see of him hes so knightly and goody two shoes and like. posh?? and then i watch his videos and he puts a bridge on hypnos front lawn without asking for permission. he made a secret tunnel between him and hypnos storage rooms for shits and giggles. hes doing an old man impression of kids these days with their gadgets and he brings up papyrus paper of all things. he gives off such mischevious little man vibes and he is at best a knight wannabe but realistically seems to be just be in it for the aesthetics and fandom takes it all way too seriously. its hilarious and i genuinely cant take any fanon depiction of him being all knightly and pretentious without thinking of the fact that he spent so much on mangrove to line the secret tunnel between him and hypnos storage rooms which he built without telling hypno. peak smug cat meme vibes

anyway uhhh tldr welsknight is not a knight that armour is made of foam and its hilarious how seriously the fandom takes him. send post

look at this frame! don't their poses look similar, even though they're in totally different places?? well, there's a simple reason for it! we can see raph in the driver seat, his left hand on the wheel, while the other one's searching for someting, it's symbolising his active role as leader, while leo stands alongside him, his left hand on a handhold while he gestures with the other, showing him being less active and more of a passive presence, but he's ready on his feet, it's symbolising his potential as raph's co-leader but also him not yet being ready, still gripping the safety rails instead of the driving wheel-

(nah i'm kidding- like, was it just artists drawing similar poses in one scene? oh yeah most definitively! will that stop me from over-analysing? nope! :D this basically wrote itself!)

i have one video i've been wanting to make about a certain splatoon lore topic so badly for some years now and i wanna do it soon. but every time i think about it i can feel myself going insane. there's so much i need to say. how do i structure this in a way that makes sense. does it even make sense at all. to me? god help me

Sometimes I think about how Reyna killed her father (who was, at that point, a mania rather than actually alive) in self-defense when she was a child and how she spends her entire life afterwards with this fact hanging over her head, thinking if it gets out it will doom her. She’s tormented by ghosts for this, saying she’ll be never escape her crime, calling her a traitor and a murderer. Nico tries to tell her that her father was gone by then, and she did what she had to do to protect her sister, but Reyna tells him it doesn’t matter. Her punishment will be the same regardless.

Sometimes I think about how Jason dispelled his mother’s mania and it’s treated as a narrative triumph. He’s chosen his family and she is not a part of it. He has two homes and she doesn’t have a place in either of them. She is in his past and has no power over him. She cannot hurt him anymore.

Sometimes I think about the fact that they never get to fucking talk about this.
