*taps mic*
ignoring canon characterisations of characters and turning them into idiotic and oftentimes borderline problematic OCs is not the act of rebellion against jkr that some of you believe it to be. you are still engaging with her work, her world she created, her characters. so, do not use “canon was written by a terf” as an excuse to explain why you insist on giving sob stories to in-universe domestic terrorists.
this is NOT a pro-jkr post. fuck that woman and her nasty, vile opinions. i am just tired of fandom hypocrisy.

okay, so, I've fallen victim to the leon kennedy brainrot steadily overtaking me, following me from Tumblr to Pinterest, to Instagram and even the absolutely fucking dreaded application of TikTok. I don't even use it that often??? and the algorithm is just like 'wow, yeah, this little fuckers gay as hell send in the 40 year old meow meow!!' and having watched Death Island fairly recently, I'm gonna have my opinions on what this dude would be like. Cus my brain loves to rationalize shit and think ab 'what if this mf was someone real?' so... fuck it.
Leon Soft Kennedy Headcanons
SFW
accidentally bigoted. - im sorry but let's be so fucking real here. he's a 40 something year old man who spent the majority of his life in either the military, a police training academy in the 90's, or otherwise working under the U.S Federal System with minimal/no time between missions to unpack absolutely everything he's got going on... the guys gonna have some problematic tendencies. Obviously that doesn't mean he means any of that or is incapable of change, etc. etc., but I know for damn certain this dude would laugh a little at Bill Burr's borderline to blatantly misogynistic material and has probably chuckled unironically at the attack helicopter jokes. But, he's not a complete dick, and would definitely become more critical of those kinds of jokes if it's pointed out to him.
honest to God, Dad Without Kids™ - it's not simply enough for me to leave it at 'but it's the vibes!!' so, I'm gonna break this shit down. Leon is absolutely Gen X incarnate. I can fucking guarantee you that on his off days he accidentally ends up dressing as an undercover cop; I'm talking cargo shorts, light blue button up, those fucking standard issue boots cus "they're perfectly good shoes" and those stupid ass sunglasses... you know the ones I'm talking about. Let's say you're living with him, right? And you're... you, and you wanna watch something on TV. This dude would strain himself getting up like a turtle fallen backwards on its shell, stand up, walk right in front of the TV screen and stand there with his hands on his hips. It doesn't matter that he had to piss, he needs to get a better look of what's happening! Does those really loud, obnoxious coughs and sneezes, absolutely blows his back out doing one at least five times a year.
Only watches British Reality TV - Considering he's canonically a film buff, I'll say that this is purely for whatever he gravitates towards on general streaming services. I honestly don't see him being the type to regularly tune in to standard American cable TV, or only does so under specific circumstances like American Ninja Warrior or maybe Forged in Fire if there's absolutely nothing else. It's not something that's exclusive to Americans, — I'm from New Zealand and I do this too, — but Leon absolutely falls into the category of watching British Reality and Game shows purely because of the accents. I'm talking Jeremy Kyle, The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, Taskmaster, The Great British Bake Off and so on and so forth. It doesn't matter that baking isn't his forté or a passion of his, if Josephine curdles her buttercream by over mixing, his hands are in his hair in utter disappointment. 100% tries to mimic their accents too. We all do it, don't lie.
Has... very dated music tastes - I don't know if you could guess, but the last paragraph included me calling myself out and name dropping some shows I watch anyway or grew up watching, and I'm just saying that this is gonna be no different. If anything? This'll be worse! Since I'm very passionate about the music I listen to and have the inability to keep my interests separated from the other, of course my love of particular bands will bleed over into my interpretation of Leon's character! Anyway, all that for me to say that Leon fucking LOVES 90's grunge musicians, specifically Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, as well as early nu metal bands like Korn (their dubstep phase did not happen.), TOOL, and Rage Against the Machine — and no, he unfortunately doesn't see the irony of him being a fed and listening to Rage, — but would also have a soft spot for psych rock, post-punk and shoegaze. My man's definitely laid awake at night, sobbing without expression as he struggles to accept that Ada never really wanted him like he wanted her while listening to fucking Slowdive. My hottest take here is that he doesn't really listen to Deftones. Like he'll occasionally blast My Own Summer, Change, Bored or Rosemary, but anything outside of those? He just didn't listen to 'em. My second hottest take is that he does NOT like Slipknot, which kind of pains me 'cus I do, but I fucking bet you this dude would actually adopt one piece of "Gen Z lingo" or whatever just call them cringe. Though admittedly he would've been jamming the fuck out to Psychosocial and The Devil in I when they came out. Went off the deep end in Vendetta, obviously, and drunk-cried himself to sleep on the couch listening to Linkin Park.
Very confusing spending habits - On one hand, we all understand that Leon came from money, — he was implied to have been born into a mob family from my understanding? And I doubt he'd ever really had to worry about being fully, irrevocably broke, — but I'm sure that growing up in the U.S Foster Care System made him at least a little more cautious of where his money comes from, where it's going, what he's spending it on, etc. So, on the one hand, he's apprehensive to spend recklessly, particularly on perishables. But also, if he can drop over $100,000USD on a motorcycle that got absolutely fucking cheese grated into the road, and spend a perceived, metric fuck ton of money on designer leather jackets and massive watches, it's gonna be hard for me to call him 'financially conscious'. On one hand, he gets apprehensive on spending more money than he needs to on food since he's "just gonna shit it out later", but if he sees a cool watch or a nice suit in a shop window? Money's suddenly not an issue! Not because he's materialistic, but because the one thing he really maintains a sense of control over in his life are his possessions and the way he dresses. The D.S.O can call him in for another months long mission whenever they please, and all he can realistically do is allow the government to tug on his leash and put him where he's needed. He may as well spend their money on things he wants!
Gets out... enough? But also, not really? - So, personally I've pegged Leon as more of an introverted person, — amateurly typed his MBTI as possibly ISFJ? — so he doesn't really feel the need to go out and meet new people or really hang out with anyone. If somebody invites him out? Sure, he'll go. Otherwise, it rarely occurs to him to meet up with friends or colleagues at a cafe or anywhere. I think he'd prefer to just go there alone, mostly for the sake of having somebody else cook for him as opposed to actively seeking out the atmosphere. It's pure convience in his mind. And remember when I said in the beginning about him accidentally being at least a little misogynistic? Yeah, that was me trying to say that he regularly tries to hit on younger waitresses. Not because he actually wants anything to do with them, but simply because it's an ego boost. He likes that he can make girls half his age blush or offer him their numbers, because it tells him that he's still desirable, and ultimately, that gives him the power to reject them politely and go about the rest of his day. If they don't reject him first, of course. Admittedly, Leon's audacity towards women peaked during Infinite Darkness.
Since I'm planning on posting more NSFW headcanons for this guy, — and more NSFW kinds of posts, — here is the obligatory Minors DNI attachment. For your own safety, I don't care if what I have to say is tame so far, you can hold it off I promise.

The progression of the “Villainess” trope
Y'know, thinking about it, it's very ironic how a trope made to subvert one's expectations & give more depth to 1 dimensional villains in cliche novels by "humanizing" them more & providing their side of the story, eventually became oversaturated with cartoony villains & flat MCs. Thus, completely failing in its goal to "subvert expectations" as it too turned into mind numbing cliche, becoming the exact opposite of what the troupe initially aimed to achieved.
I am talking about "Villainess" series.
I remember seeing a twitter post a while back saying how a lot of the villainess stuff the authors & studios are putting out nowadays lack any sort of nuance when it comes to its characters. And how a lot authors simply switch the roles of the cast (Like: OG MC -> villain | OG villain -> MC) & call it a day. And I 100% agree with that.
This troupe kinda ended up becoming the dictionary definition of the saying, "You either die as a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain” lmao
What could've been an opportunity to write nuanced villains & morally ambiguous main characters, turned EXACTLY into the cliche it was pocking fun at.
In an attempt to reveal how the MCs of your typical cliche novels can also be in the wrong at times, flaws that the story & its (in-canon) fandom may purposefully ignore, the villainess stories ended up doing EXACT SAME thing EXECPT this time it's the "villains" doing it rather than the OG FL or OG ML of the “OG novel”. In an attempt to stop cliche villains from remaining cliche, while we did ended up getting slightly more nuance for the “OG villain” characters, in the process, the OG MCs turned exactly into those flat cliche villains.
Alot of villainess series poke fun at the troupes they themself use, but not in a satirical way.
So many villainess series poke fun at the OG novels for being problematic or stupid & the fandom of said novels basically ignoring its flaws & problems, only gushing over the OG FL. Which yea, is nice & all, but y'know... that's exactly what those villainess series do too. SO MANYY of them borderline have the FLs participating in literal slavery. & More often than not have a borderline colonizer ML. Not to mention the numerous which carry weird undertones of colorism, and many such other things. All the while, the fandom of these villainess series continue to ignore their glaring problems & flaws & instead just gush over the FL and ML.
And I'm not even saying this in a hating sort of way (well, aside from the series with issues of colorism, orientalism, etc). Moreover, this is all not to say that one can not enjoy such stories, because admittedly, there is indeed fun in just reading a simple and familiar story line. But this is all more me being intrigued by this trope’s almost ironic progression as companies rush their staff to produce something which they think will be able to ride the waves of the current trends, only for the vast majority to simply drown in a sea of mediocrity (with many even being canceled due to this)
[Though I mean, something as simple as villainess tropes won’t be the only one to go through this. Like a lot of Shakespearean works, a subversion of the classics & typical troupes back then, got turned into ones of those classics and by many are now considered cliche. And that's just scrapping the bottom of the barrel!]

The "real" Batman
I see people complain about the emphasis some people put on Batmans more negative character traits a lot.
"That's not the real Batman, that's flanderiztion, fanon, a few bad but popular adaptions, the 90's only" and the like are common refrains and it really gets to me. Cos see, while I am aware no incarnation of Batman is totally one note, I emphasize the more negative sides of Batman for reasons that aren't "Edgy, badass, GRRR, Toxic masculinity woooh" bullshit and I hate being dismissed as such.
So, here's why I do it:
First is because of general frustration at the dismissal of any incarnation of Batman, regardless of popularity, or ongoing presence in the main-line comics and timelines, being invalid. IE, the "HE's not the real Batman so he doesn't count" when he canonically is, & as done stuff like that.
60s/80s Batman smiles after sending a purse snatcher away in an Ambulance, kidnaps & others relies on torture style interrogations. Just like 90s/2000's Batman threatens people with assault in prison & looms over a Mugger he slammed so hard into a wall it left a giant blood splatter.
It is fair to ague that brutality is not all of what he is, that's valid. But that side of him is not something I feel one can just handwaved away as "not canon" & people doing so frustrate me in large part because it feels intellectually dishonest. Its refusing to engage with a metric ton of the canonical lore of a character they are discussing.
Secondly is the fact that a lot of the lore, history, character development, derailment, treatment, tone, framing and more for characters OTHER than Batman relies on him having a history of problematic behavior.
Cassandra basically living in a Bat-Cave with no civilian life or identity because Bruce is giving her what HE wants for himself even though its bad for both of them is just an example of a huge part of their dynamic. One that can be deeply damaging, self destructive and messy, but also makes perfect sense given the characters involved.
How Jason's entire shift in character and framing was done largely to insulate Bruce from criticism over his death, IE, Jason being characterized post death as violent, arrogant, not particularly bright and then coming back as a villain also ties into 20 something years of smearing his name to protect Bruce's.
Stephanie's entire character history begins falling apart if Batman doesn't treat her like the trash he did in canonical mainline comics, and leaves her with only a couple of borderline cameos at best. Hell, even 'new' stuff where he's "nicer" still has him do things like fake therapy appointments to trick her.
Hell, even Dick in a lot of incarnations as well as mainline comics at different times has a lot of issues that came from being raised/trained by Bruce. No, it isn't universal, but it is far too common & recurring of an element to just say "doesn't count!" & declare the discussion over.
& the thing is, when people say they want the "Real" batman or the "Good" Batman, they not only erase these characters histories. They don't replace it with anything worthwhile for anyone but Bruce himself.
If ignoring all that meant replacing it with stuff like Jason never died & or never became Red Hood & is a totally different character. Or Cassandra and Bruce having arcs about their obsessions with vigilantism at the expense of their personal lives, or Stephanie actually getting to be ROBIN. Then it would be something at least somewhat interesting to engage with. But they don't, instead Jason still became a supervillain & is the Red Hood, Stephanie still got fired if she was Robin at all.
They are either forgotten (Cass & Steph) or end up being warped (Jason) so their characters history, everything is different and all to better serve making Bruce look good. I really find it vexing that even in "Batman is not a jerk" stuff, he still warps the narrative to everyone else's detriments.

Okay, so I have been seeing many posts saying that Aang is the most well-written and complex character. And how Zutara and Zuko stans need to be humbled (I think what Bryke did was enough (and it was wrong and cruel)) . You have your canon, I don't see the need to humble us when you have Aang being the creator's best boy and having his "forever girl". If a difference of opinion is triggering you, then it's time to click off and look inward. Basically, they say how he breathes life into the show, and how nobody should be dissing him. I understand if your favorite character is Aang because I understand why you like him. To me, the reason we love our favorite characters is that they are flawed, and we get to see how flaws make them human (hence why I love Katara). Aang...... Aang has a lot of flaws and deserves to be analyzed like every other character. We see mass amounts of criticism (border lining hate) for other (female) characters such as Korra and Katara. However Aang....... is very flawed and he should be because that makes him a well-rounded character. But there are some things such as that unconsented kiss, being a bad father etc. That should have been widely discussed in the amount that people had to say about Katara in TSR. Putting him on a pedestal because he's the avatar and the main character, actually deems for us to be more critical since he is the centerpiece of the show.
You've come to the right place. If you want Aang salt, I've got Aang salt. My biggest gripe isn't so much that Aang is flawed. It's that his flaws are treated as virtues, or not as bad as they are, or not addressed at all (looking at Aang's blatant disrespect of the SWT culture...). The fact that Bryke had the absolute gall to come out of their own mouths and say that what Aang did to his children was not that bad and that Kya and Bumi were blowing it out of proportion is infuriating on its own. The fact that Aang's defenders have grown up in a time when going low or no contact with your parents is...I won't say common, but a well known thing that adult children do for their own mental health. That they know what the Golden Child/Scapegoat dynamic is by name. That within the show, people who borderline worship Aang as a deity don't know that he had two other children... and yet they still want to argue that Aang wasn't a bad parent???? It's wild to me that in this day and age, people young enough to have been in the target audience when the show aired go so hard to defend the blatantly problematic aspects of Aang, or argue them away completely if they can't defend them.

Hello MK community!
If you’re the type of person to get references/icons/images of the various characters off of Pinterest please do not save/share any from this account!
Tumblr media
They are an extremely problematic person who denies the CANON relationship of Tanya and Mileena and other heavily implied sexualities to the point where it’s borderline homophobic.
They have also occasionally posted memes that were not properly credited, such as here

More hate is continuing to spread within queer ships, especially within the JJK Fandom (!JJK MANGA SPOILERS!)
Tumblr media
As I have shared before in previous posts, within the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom unfortunately a lot of queer ships get hate meanwhile straight ships do not. Personally, I do not care what people ship, as long as it's legal and unproblematic/toxic then it's okay! However, I will hate on someone's ship if they feel the need to disrespect other ships that aren't problematic.
And before anyone says, "Making straight characters gay is problematic!" Technically, yes, you are correct, but it really depends on the situation. For example; if you were to make let's just say Oh Sangwoo from Killing Stalking, a psychological horror manhwa, gay, then yes, it is problematic, because his character is based on the fact that he is straight, hence why if you were to make him gay it removes the point of the story.
However, if it is not a situation similar to Sangwoo if it doesn't change a major plotline or point of the story then it really doesn't matter, hence why it's a headcanon/fanon. Recently in Chapter 267, a "confession" is said by both Megumi and Itadori. Yuji says that if he doesn't have Megumi he will be lonely. Then Megumi said that he dreamt of a life with Yuji, in which the life Megumi describes is peaceful or happy, honestly, I'd compare it to a peaceful morning with an old married couple.
However, since the ship Itafushi, Megumi x Yuji, has risen because of the chapter, the ship has also gotten a lot of hate, and hate that it does not deserve. It's perfectly fine to disagree with the ship or just not ship them, but it's another thing to absolutely hate a ship and disrespect the shippers who aren't sexualizing the characters in any way, shape, or form.
As I have talked about previously in another post, Satosugu, Gojo x Geto, also get this same type of hate. As literally any other queer ship in the JJK fandom. Shipping queer ships isn't abnormal within fandoms, even if it's shounen or not canon, people will still do it, if it's a fetish, then yes it should be looked down upon, but some people, usually other queer people, ship the same genders usually because there's a vibe between those characters, like a "gaydar" going off.
In fact, I actually saw someone compare Itafushi to Goyuu, Gojo x Yuji...
Yeah, let's just soak that in for a minute...
Now let's play a game of spotting the difference between the two ships! Ding! Ding! Ding! That's right, Gojo x Yuji has pedophilia and a 13-year age difference between a student and teacher and Itafushi is legal because they're both minors and the same age!
I swear people who hate on queer ships and then only ship straight ships that (also) don't make sense and quite literally say the same shit queer shippers do when defending their shit of "its fanon", the hypocrisy is going through the roof right now.
Like I personally do not like the ships Sugushoko, Gojohime, Nobara x Yuji/Megumi, etc. but I'm still gonna respect those ships, but if you're disrespecting other ships, I won't respect your ships because of that. I personally think none of the ships I listed make sense, just like how people think Satosugu or Itafushi don't make sense.
At this point, it's not even people shipping queer ships that make the fandom insufferable like many people say, it's the straight ships because people try so hard to say the straight ships *are* canon and are just borderline homophobic towards queer ships.
I honestly just wish we could respect all ships whether they're queer, straight, nonbinary, etc. it really does not affect anyone *that* much. If it were a pro/comship then I'd understand. Satosugu and Itafushi aren't pro/comships, nor are Gojohime, Sugushoko, Nobara x Yuji/Megumi, yk the ones that are legal and not toxic/problematic.
It makes me really upset that literally no one is able to ship normal ships anymore without just getting hate. It makes it to the point where you can't even enjoy JJK, or any anime/manga for that matter.
Sorry for the lame yapping, I'll probably have another debate similar to the Kirara and Hakari post soon. This was just on my chest and as a gay dude who's been in many anime/manga fanbases, whether it's shounen, shojo, etc. it really upsets me seeing that people are getting really judgmental over normal ships.
extra: Sorry I haven't been as active writing silly stuff on things I'm interested in, back in school I've been slightly stressed and don't have time for a lot. This post and some of my other recent previous posts we just silly extras that I just barely managed to post. Unfortunately, since I have been stressed it is taking a slight mental toll on me right now and I've been absolutely exhausted my vertigo is worse and my mind is very fuzzy anymore, I'll be okay dw I just need time to adjust to a somewhat new schedule. I will be trying my best to be active during weekends though.

Problematic Femslash Ship Tournament - Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liliana Malcatras x Millarca Malcatras (Malcatras' Maiden) VS. Aya Asagiri x Tsuyuno Yatsumura (Mahou Shoujo Site)
Info and propaganda under cut! This will not be spoiler-free.
Problematic elements for Liliana x Millarca:
Girls raised like sisters in the same cult…biting and blood and some sort of unrequitedness is involved
Problematic elements for Aya x Tsuyuno:
canon twincest magical girls who commit violence on people! yay
--
Propaganda for Liliana x Millarca:
Liliana and Millie's relationship is a very importarnt part of malcatras' maiden, they're not biologically related by any means but they were raised and treat each other like sisters just like all the other maids, they've grown up together in the same enviroment (cult) basically their whole lives, the kick is that Millie has an genuine feeling love and even borderline obsession with Lilli, while, even if Lilli does love her, she has an udiyng dedication to Francesca Malcatras, their adoptive mother and the person who indoctrinated them both into the cult. I'm not gonna spoil the endgame but to me it's deeply tragic how Milli still believes that Liliana can change and she can break free from her obsession with lady malcatras and they can love each other once and for all, you know how that turns out in the end
Propaganda for Aya x Tsuyuno:
when aya is being bullied, she becomes a magical girl and meets tsuyuno, another magical girl who saves her from her bullies. both girls are deeply mentally scarred from the tragic lives they've lived. they eventually fall in love and they kiss!! and only after that (and after tsuyuno dies) does aya learn that tsuyuno is her twin sister separated at birth. when aya finds this out, her only reaction is to smile and basically be like "ah, so we really were fated to be together"... basically canon that they are soulmates by virtue of being twins.

ngl, sometimes i look back on tf2 blogs that were active ten years ago and it really seems like the fandom was more fun and less stressful back then. nobody cared about characters' sexualities as much as they do now and they just shipped whatever! now people will give you a side eye if you ship anything that isn't the top most popular ship on ao3.
This is a general fandom problem. Fandom climate has massively shifted from what it used to be a decade ago and fandom police are much more strict. They used to just be the loremasters—someone who'd (sometimes aggressively) check other people on lore and such when they'd promote something noncanon as canon. But now it seems like most people in a fandom appoint themselves fandom police. You get fans of popular ships harassing people who don't ship their ship, you get wars between who can ship what characters even when it's not a case of extreme proship (you know what I mean). I've seen people refer to MedicScout as borderline paedophilia despite Scout being twenty-seven years old.
Everything has to be looked through a lens of "is this problematic or not", everything has to be consumable and marketable, and we wonder why fandom is dying. People treat fandom like they're selling something. You can't tell a story anymore without someone getting up your arse taking issue with it. What ever happened to Live And Let Ship?
Again, this isn't even restricted to TF2. This is unfortunately just the general climate of all fandoms now. In my experience, it gets worse as fandoms get bigger and new media for that fandom stops being made. People have nothing to consume so they start going a little stir crazy. Unfortunately policing other people is how some people feel they Do Their Part.

Hii!! I agree with your points and your interpretation is valid. But just wanted to say that I think that using a guy character not acting like a pervert and borderline assaulty around women as a proof of them not being attracted is a very flawed and harmful logic (talking ab the scene of Komaeda falling under Mikan’s skirt you mentioned). I’m attracted to women but if I fall under girl’s skirt or witness an embarrassing situation I will be uncomfortable too. Komaeda’s reaction is how a normal respectful person would react and I’m very saddened that the amount of pervert anime characters has normalized such behaviour
That's super fair! I only realize now I am using it under the expectations of Danganronpa since there are so many perverted characters in the franchise, you're right and thank you for pointing that out. That actually is really upsetting now that you mention it, yeah I'm going to edit that out ew.
I've made posts on twitter of small, even if silly, praises about how Nagito seems to really value consent. He's always the loudest and most annoyed about teruteru's behavior, and within the franchise he's the one who's the most respectful and realistic when it comes to the problematic subjects. It's sad that not every character is as respectful as him. In fact almost all of the dr2 male cast is crushing on girls, some being gross about it, the only ones who don't are Nekomaru and Nagito. Crushing on girls is definitely not the issue, but half of them being gross about it is.
Just to redeem the example because I'm upset by it here's some instances of his weird somewhat lack of interest in women that we've seen or general vagueness
Chiaki saying this isn't as straightforward but it still implies her being sexy wouldn't work to get Nagito's attention which still says things about his possible disinterest or respectful nature maybe even both.
Tumblr media
During fan service scenes in every manga adaptation he never blushes while every other character does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He avoids the question of sexuality every time it's asked, he either doesn't know it himself, doesn't think about it because he thinks he's unworthy, or has to beat around the bush because he's closeted. Although outside of characterization wise it may just be kodaka staying vague because that's the common pattern Lmao. The question is avoided during Q&as and during ultra despair girls he just ignores Kurokoma altogether lmao (would add more but image limit on mobile is my worst enemy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i've seen multiple interpretations for this so just ???
Tumblr media
Either way the status of canon is: Nagito shows interest in men and we see he has sexual desires, he's anything that isn't straight or aroace. He doesn't show evident interest in women and there's been no official word on his sexuality, it is up in the air when it comes to specifics. He is absolutely a queer coded character, whether he's gay, pan, bi, or something else there's no doubt about that. I believe Nagito is gay because there's a lot of evidence supporting this, I think it also makes his storyline more impactful. But at the end of the day there is no said canon and people are free to headcanon what they want to, whatever people say that isn't invalidating important parts of his character we actively see is preferred.

You have to be another level of delusional to claim people who prefer canon characterisations are JKR apologists… Is this how people comfort themselves about their deranged, unrealistic, unimaginative, and borderline problematic characterisations and ships?

Do You Know This (non-canon) Autistic Character?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda:
Artemis follows routines and prefers schedules and predictability. He struggles with social skills and comes across as rude, blunt, aloof, arrogant, etc. whether he is trying to or not. Artemis struggles to make friends and often finds things like small talk or pop culture boring and pointless.
He is incredibly smart and definitely falls under the "savant" stereotype. Artemis finds emotions to also be challenging - both understanding them in himself/others and expressing them. He has certain life skills that are also a challenge (such as making a sandwich) and is known to be incredibly uncoordinated.
Anything else
I know that the anti-hero supergenius trope is kind of unrealistic and problematic, but Artemis's journey into realizing that he can have worth and importance through his relationships with his friends/family is just *chefs kiss.* The amount of times I reread these books is borderline embarrassing.

Also, not that I have to defend myself, or explain fuck all, but not once have I said Cat’s not a “self insert”- if anything it’s been me saying Cat’s not a self insert in the way that it’s an actual life I’ve lived. For newcomers, or my apparent fanbase, I did not “create” a character or a self insert OC, or whatever you want to call it, because Cat is just me from a life/timeline/universe/whatever. I use those tags for views and because I know it is viewed, but really it’s a kin thing, which despite this person’s dedication to my blog they clearly didn’t understand I.e. calling (assumably) Hunter and Dipper a “rarepair” or “crossover”. Also, the comment that I don’t draw canon aged up designs/don’t “age up” Hunter OR Dipper (again, drawing real experiences, not fanart) when I have drawn each of them at multiple ages and points in life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hunt/low mentions clearly prove this is just a bitter h/l shipper that doesn’t like people with other opinions than their own. Unfortunately for them, the world outside tumblr (and on tumblr) is and always will be full of people with differing opinions!! It’s giving chronically online. I can promise my opinions on hunt/low have hurt no one. Same with my opinions on dip/cifica. Which, by the way, “wouldn’t date his sister’s bully” is coming from an understanding and analysis of Dipper’s own character, morals, personality, etc. He’s not forgiving and he’s very protective of Mabel. Mabel is forgiving and doesn’t tend to have qualms befriending (and assumably crushing on) people who formerly bullied her, her friends, or her brother. But that’s besides the point.
The moringmark comment also is hilarious, just for the fact that he actively, constantly is posting questionable and borderline problematic comics. Did he ever “acknowledge past mistakes” or “grow”? Because I’ve never seen it if so. Either way. HILARIOUS that I have at least one person that hates me so much that they have obsessively read my blog for years like it’s the daily news.

god im autistic. [Sodapack Rant]
DISCLAIMER:
- I personally can't judge others for liking or disliking a ship. All of the characters are morally grey in some way, shape, and/or form. - I am not a proshipper at all. I do not like ships that are illegal in an way. Same with borderline abusive AND problematic ships. They romanticise the problem and can cause harm in real life at times. You cannot convice me otherwise. End of story. If you are a proshipper you will be blocked without warning. - Writing toxic/bad/problematic behavior/relations on the other hand is okay. Though only as long as you have done reasearch on the topic at hand and have portayed is as toxic/bad/problematic.
Now that is taken care of, it's onto the rant.
So Sodapack is a good ship. I love the concept of it. Its excellent, chefs kiss. Though Fanon has defintely made an impact on said ship. People tend to forget/mischaracterize/etc each Bryce and Liam.
Brief Reminder Incoming.
(These are my personal interpretations of the canon characters. I am not denying it. However this is as close as I can get.)
Negative Canon Liam Traits:
Selfish
Revenge Orientated
Unintentionally(?) Manipulative
Traumatized
Impulsive
Negative Canon Bryce Traits:
Traumatized
Stubborn
Hot-Tempered
Fickle
Hyper Independent
If Bryce and Liam are together immediately after the events on HFJOne, its toxic. Its a trauma bond.
Liam, whether he does it on purpose or not, is gaslighting, critizizing, and breaking Bryce's set boundries. Bryce's fickle nature causes him to resign his boundries that he sets in the show.
Bryce and Liam need to learn to heal on their own before getting into something like a romantic relationship. Both have suffered and getting into something like that is just asking for unintentional hurt to happen.
So why do I consder it a good ship if all these flaws exist?
It's because people can change and heal. Its just human nature. Both Bryce and and Liam have hurt eachother. One more than the other *cough-Liam-cough*.
Its going to take time to forgive, yes. Hell, you can't just forget what happened either. I know from experience.
However!! If these two were to heal properly? I can see the ship being extremely cute. A friends to lovers type of thing.
Conclusion/TLDR;
tldr; Sodapack is good,. HOWEVER, people need realize that trauma bonds exist and are extremely harmful. Both Liam and Bryce need time to heal from what happened. They have the potiential to be a really cute pair if this occurs.

why i think harvey specter and louis litt are bpd coded (to an extent)
this is just harmless headcanon based on what i noticed while watching, don’t take me too seriously. i’m pretty sure aaron korsh has never even heard of bpd and no one in that writers room knew enough about psychology to actually write a borderline character…
i could make a way more in depth analysis of their mental… situations… but i haven’t rewatched the show in a while so these are just my most basic observations
louis
aside from his uh.. obvious emotional instability and anger issues. i think the most tangible proof i have of this one is when he was described as “loving, hating, and wanting to be harvey at the same time.” now, i’m pretty sure that was just a movie quote… but Very Telling imho…
also the way all his romantic relationships play out in the show (TARA!!!!)… idk y’all… that tara thing was textbook limerence in my eyes.
side note, i’ve seen people call him bipolar quite a bit but i’m pretty sure most of that is just the colloquial (see: wildly incorrect) usage/misunderstanding of the term and not actual concrete evidence of any bipolar theories.
harvey
this one is a little less obvious, so bear with me. but i think the way he started having panic attacks so severe he had to see a therapist (!!!) because donna went to work for someone else at the same damn firm… i’m sorry but the abandonment issues are wild. also the scene when he sees lipschitz one on one and he’s basically complaining that everyone leaves him and louis is gonna forget about him once he has a baby…? which uh, has he ever met louis before? also, that scene gets extra funny when the writers had him and donna leave for seattle like the day after lucy was born… who’s leaving who now?
also, his anger issues got pretty bad too… and his whole “i don’t care about anyone, caring makes me weak” shtick from the earlier seasons isn’t necessarily giving mental illness, but it certainly doesn’t paint a picture of perfect mental stability… i mean, he does change throughout the show (see: the whole situation with anna) but i’d argue that was directly a result of mike’s presence in his life.
ACTUALLY, DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT ONE. SECRETLY KEEPING MIKE AND RACHEL’S OLD APARTMENT JUST IN CASE THEY MIGHT COME BACK??? but that deserves a whole separate post bc that’s not related to bpd… just homosexuality.
there’s honestly way more than that, but i’d have to rewatch the whole damn show and take notes to properly make an analysis, which i am not currently willing to do.
Also in my mind mike is slightly autistic coded (strong sense of justice, eidetic memory, hyperempathy (actually just normal empathy tbh but he just looks really emotional compared to Harvey “I Don’t Get Attached To Clients, I Win” Specter)) but that’s not an actual theory i have nor is it at all supported by canon, pure projection by me on that one.
Uhhh again don’t take this too seriously, this is just my brain ramblings. i just thought bpd coded suits deserves more love than 4 unknown reddit comments (one of them being me), 1 tumblr post from half a decade ago, and 1 paragraph in a “tv series that portray bpd” article… i was seriously spoiled in my previous fandoms with the mental disorder hcs (see: adhd denki, bpd goro, autistic izuku/shoto/bkg/ren/saiki/everyone hcs being wildly popular).
also, this is in no way meant to be insulting/demeaning to any characters mentioned, just to share an alternative perspective/interpretation, i’m literally the ceo of borderpolartism… (and made up words!) feel free to disagree as heavily as you’d like, this is nothing but my own personal opinion.
Uhhh, i also have no formal education in psychology, just years of lived experience w bpd/autism and their dsm-5 criteria memorized… (Not that the dsm-5 is great in itself, that book is wildly problematic all on its own, but that’s a subject more fitting for a formal research paper and not a tumblr post made by a generally uneducated moron who only finished school up to the 9th grade…)
one day i’ll write up a proper analysis/explanation/character study, but for now this is the best you’re getting outside of the mildly implied but never explicitly stated autistic mike ross WIPs rotting in my notes app rn, never to be finished.

Hi, I've read your Blondie/Tuco ship manifesto and I'd love to ask you something since I'm on a personal quest to understand more why ppl ship these two.
I'm not here to hate, but for context you need to know I ship Blondie with Angel Eyes and might use that ship for comparison. I love complex characters with depth (which we all know they each have in TBGU), hence I don't have a problem with morally grey or criminal characters.
I like Tuco as a character, love the depth that his family situation gives him, the loneliness and sadness in it, and I fully support the idea of Blondie having compassion for Tuco and their frenemies vibes.
I was excited about you pointing out the ropekink/bdsm side of their relationship which I was frankly too blind to see and now am absolutely paying atention to bc I was too deep in my own kink interpretation of Angel Eyes stepping on men with his high leather boots while sucking on a pipe (guess the "Tuco being beaten at the camp" scene has very different meanings for the two of us :D)
Still however there is one major thing that buggs me about Tuco. So why can't I see the ship and instead ship Blondie with Angel who is also a bad man? I've told myself: well maybe it's simply just bc you're superficial and don't find Tuco attractive (I mean I can smell the man through the screen :D) and love Mr. Lee Van Cleef's face too much. So would it be different if Tuco was played by someone I find hot?
Well… no. After many discussions with my gf (you see we're both "old" tumblr residents and share a number of ships together and often spend a long time talking about them) I've realized it's the rapings. "….raping a virgin of the white race, statuatory rape of a minor of the black race.."
Angel Eyes is supposedly this evil man. But I see someone principled, intelligent, cold/composed and efficient. A murderer for hire (who is very interestingly not wanted by the law), who among other methods uses violence to get what he needs/wants. He just gives me dom vibes sorry :D.
Blondie is supposedly a good man. But I see an opportunistic fraud, also intelligent (also very interestingly not wanted by the law - I have some headcanons about that), who uses others for his own gain and bends the law as it suits him.
And Tuco. The ugly. I see a fiery intrepid man, a simple man, who is above all selfish and will betray anyone anytime if it suits him. Who rather then becoming a poor priest turned to crime for his own gain and truly doesn't shy from violence and murder.
I know the movie tells us that none of these men really are simply "the good, the bad, the ugly" still I've found I'm not able to get over the rapings in the context of placing Tuco in a romantic relationship with anyone, and am super curious if it's a problem for Blondie/Tuco shippers as well or if it's just written off as criminal behaviour or smth else entirely.
Thanks for the long message! Whoa this is a very fun question
… Angel Eyes literally beats up a woman on screen… 🤣 isn’t that problematic for you?
As for the rapings - if you accept AE beat up a woman and killed innocent children what is the problem withe morally dubious actions perpetrated by another character? It seems to me you’re applying double standard to him and Tuco.
Furthermore, you’re condemning Tuco for something they accuse him of and we have no evidence of. In my opinion these accusations were made up artificially to increase his bounty - because they are exxaggerated and borderline unbelievable.
Also - you can smell Tuco? He is literally the only character who takes the time to have a bath? He is canonically the one who cares the most about personal hygiene.
Tuco was also cunning, smart and tenacious enough to find Blondie not once but TWICE, leveraging his knowledge of him and acting out a revenge that tells a lot about Tuco having a sadistic, dominant side. Blondie is literally scared to the bone by him and for a reason. Blondie knows Tuco could kill him in a heartbeat and is probably the only person who is able to. Not only that - Blondie actually find this a reason to respect and admire Tuco deeply - and that is something that Blondie does not have for AE. He literally walks out on AE without any care - to go back to Tuco, and you can see from his eyes and his smile how happy he is.
And Blondie develops complex feelings for him - on one side he cannot forget the torture and the murder attempts - it’s so personal between them, like some sort of untold promise to always try and overpower the other (and you know how Blondie would not be interested in getting the better of someone he knows he is weaker than him). On the other side Blondie grows fonder and fonder of Tuco - he smiles when Tuco is around and gets worried when he is in danger. So I wouldn’t talk about feelings of compassion - it’s more about tenderness and friendship, with Blondie being borderline needy of Tuco’s attention and friendship.
Also… AE is not wanted by the law… have you ever considered that he has probably bribed the law to get a pass and be invisible…? That he exerts his power via his money? He pays his henchmen, he pays Wallace, he probably paid someone to get into the army. Have you ever thought that this makes him powerful over poor people who get arrested instead? Which is exactly what Blondie despises (people who take on other people who are weaker than them). I think Blondie has a very low opinion of AE.
So yes I actually believe things would change if Tuco were played by someone you find hot!
