I have aphantasia.

I can still understand a metaphor.

I still use these descriptors in my writing, and the idea behind them still connects. I just don't see it as an image. It still exists as a concept to me. Having aphantasia doesn't mean I can't imagine things, it means I focus on the elements that aren't strictly visual.

Maybe don't be so quick to assume that just because someone thinks differently to you, it means they can't imagine.

I’m so sorry but in the nicest way possible do yall actually read books or just read words??? Cause I’ve been seeing that trend of people not understanding how “snarled” and “eyes darkened” and “eyes softened” etc. was used in a book and like…

Genuinely, do yall just not have imagination?? Or not understand figurative language??? Also eyes do literally darken and soften have you not lived a life??? How do you read with no imagination? Is this how you get through so many books in one month - you simply don’t take the time the understand the words as they are read?

How many works do you have on AO3? Currently 70 with an additional 2 WIPS that are almost finished.

What's your total A03 word count? 437,647

What fandoms do you write for? oh, god. What I don’t write for would be a better question. A piece of media will stick with me and then I just obsessed with it. I think Star Trek is my biggest fandom with the most stories though. And two after that with the most stories would McLoed’s Daughter and Criminal Minds. I'm most active in the Star Trek/Star Wars/Stargate fandom spaces though.

What are your top five fics by kudos? Star Wars: Roads Paved with Good Intentions Numb3rs: To Assume Blacklist: Two Stranger in a Dark Club Hawaii 5-0: Accidents Happen Hawaii 5-0: Accidental Discovery

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do try my hardest, but sometimes I get caught up with life and forget. I do reply if it hasn’t been like ten years.

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh, Choices, the third in my law and order criminal intent series. Main character death after a short but full romance, ended with a funeral and no leads on the murder

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of them are pretty happy, but probably Western Justice, one of my Bonanza stories.

Do you get hate on fics? Yep, but not as a writer strangely. As a reader I had a reply to my comment that told me to kill myself and called me the C word. That was not fun.

Do you write smut? I do! Though it’s only been recently and only if I feel like it fits into the story and fandom. I’m a big fan of fade to black as well as non explicit smut. That’s my favorite kinda, sexy, but we don’t need all the bits and bobs, but that’s my opinion.

Do you write crossovers? Not usually! I’ve only done one, Highlander/Criminal Minds.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know off, but with AI, probably.

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have! And it was a great honor.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope and I don’t have a strong desire to do so? I could switch off my chapters with another author’s but writing a whole story together? Not my bag.

What's your all-time favourite ship? Jack/Sam from Stargate SG-1 has a special place in my heart, but I don’t think I’m a die hard shipper normally.

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Ooof. There’s some for Star Trek TNG that I’l never finish. Too cringey.

What are your writing strengths? I’m great with dialogue, pacing, and action scene.

What are your writing weaknesses? grammar, spelling, run on sentences, maybe plot some times?

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I’ve done it, but figuring out the translation or getting it so no translation is needed even if it’s a foreign language. It’s messy.

First fandom you wrote for: Star Wars believe it or not, but published was CSI NY.

Favourite fic you've ever written? Oooooo. Tough one. I like all of them, don’t make me choose a favorite child. Rude.

Looking Forward To: Finishing and submitting the essay I'm working on which is both on incredibly depressing topic and the last for the academic year, which means I'll getting my weekends back for a while (doing Masters incredibly part time so I could keep working full time seemed like a good idea when I signed up. Three years later, I have regrets)

Jadzia looked carefully at the empty suitcase. Too much stuff and it would seem as if she couldn't move on, too little and it would seem as if she didn't care.

Crisp, unused cufflinks sit in the top of the pile. 

Trill bylaws state only minor gifts and things can be recovered by a new host. An item from each one previous is a common trend, matching her people's desire to be in the moment but also to contain all of history at once. 

Trill legacy is a rough fall from grace at times. 

She considers another gift from lifetimes passed. The earring are a gaudy gold, dark blue stones glittering along the edges of the swirl contour. It's ugly, old... But as Jadzia stares at them, she remembers the necklace Jennifer used to wear. It had been gaudy; silver, black and neon pinks and greens all thrown in. 

'I wonder how Ben's coping,' she thinks, hands straying for her padd. On it, several offers for postings were outlined. The roles are varied, the locations just as random... 

Deep Space Nine is just another distant posting. The Starfleet team is so small, there isn't even a second scientist. In theory there's nothing there to interest her, just a war torn planet she knows nothing of, and a quiet, easily forgotten career. 

Nothing except Ben, and Jake -- who must be so big now. 

'The Bajoran sector of space is so far from Trill, they wouldn't even have the chance to check up on me.'

'Ben must be struggling,' Curzon thinks, his imprint searching for a kind way to phrase his demand. 

'And you want me to go check on him.' Jadzia is quiet, justifiable rage making her jaw clench. She knows Curzon holds her in contempt... But to throw away her career without a second thought is something Jadzia Idris would never do.

'I've been worrying about him,' Curzon finally admits, as if Jadzia doesn't share her mind with his shadow

"Yeah," she dumps the unblemished cufflinks into the case, Audrey's favourite perfume quickly following, "I noticed."

More voices crowd inside her head, Jadzia working hard to ignore them. 

To cope, she packs, a half-made choice weighing heavily on her. 'It would be good to see them again... And I've never been to that sector, not as me.'

'Its not throwing away your career to go somewhere unexpected.' Lela speaks up, her position within the symbiont allowing her the grace to speak over the rabbles of voices. 'But make sure you are doing this for you, Jadzia Idris.'

Jadzia turns away, the conflict of emotion weighing on her. To use a dead name on Trill is considered shameful, yet, somehow Lela's distance from the Trill-of-now and her position as first host justifies the use of her old name.

Jadzia looks at the padd again. Wise choice or not, DS9 is where she wants to go. Its where she has to go.

I think that's the difference between the movie and the book. In the book her best friend becomes an alcoholic and is destroying her life and maranda doesn't notice because she has no time. The boyfriend is a little shitty in the book but I think it was more to do with him seeing how unhappy she was. One of her parents gets super sick as well and she doesn't have time to care and she full on develops an eating disorder and getting very sick herself.

I always thought the book was more a criticism on the industry, and american work hours, for not allowing personal days and how working constantly can destroy your mental health. It was based loosely on the author experiences with the old Anna wintour (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Wintour).

But seriously I'd recommend reading this book. I really enjoyed it and it has more realism than the movie.
