The Importance of Cosmetic Product Notifications in Canada: A Guide to Compliance
In Canada, cosmetic products must adhere to strict regulatory standards to guarantee consumer safety and product quality. Health Canada requires the submission of the Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF) for all cosmetic items prior to market entry. This guide highlights the significance of cosmetic product notifications and offers a detailed step-by-step approach to help brands remain compliant. The Importance of Cosmetic Notifications The CNF is Health Canada’s mechanism for ensuring the safety of cosmetic products and confirming that ingredients do not pose health risks. Through cosmetic notifications, Health Canada can monitor products and their ingredients, identify potential hazards, and conduct market surveillance as needed. Compliance with notification requirements is vital for brands to safeguard their reputation, avert legal issues, and sustain consumer trust. Essential Regulations for Cosmetic Compliance in Canada Canada’s Food and Drugs Act: Cosmetics are governed by this act, specifically through the Cosmetic Regulations it encompasses. It broadly defines cosmetics, including makeup, skincare, haircare, and dental hygiene products. Prohibited and Restricted Ingredients: Health Canada maintains a detailed list of substances that are prohibited or restricted in the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. Manufacturers must ensure products exclude banned substances and comply with concentration limits for restricted ingredients. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): While not mandatory, following GMP standards is strongly advised to ensure product safety and quality. Compliance with GMP reflects a dedication to quality control, which benefits companies during Health Canada’s monitoring processes. Steps for Submitting a Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF) Fill Out the Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF): The CNF requires crucial details such as the product’s brand name, intended use, ingredient list, and whether it is a rinse-off or leave-on product. For each ingredient, the specific concentration and range of concentration must be indicated, enabling Health Canada to assess product safety effectively. Submission Timeline: The CNF must be submitted to Health Canada within 10 days of launching a product in Canada. This is applicable to all new launches, reformulations, or rebranded items. Electronic Submission: Health Canada mandates electronic submission of the CNF through the Cosmetics Notification System. Companies receive a confirmation upon successful submission, which serves as proof of regulatory compliance. Post-Submission Compliance and Monitoring After submitting the CNF, companies must uphold compliance with Health Canada’s standards and be ready for post-market evaluations. Health Canada performs inspections and may request documents such as safety data, product labels, or formulation re-evaluations to confirm compliance. Companies need to report any adverse effects linked to their products promptly and maintain records of complaints, which could be audited during inspections. Conclusion Submitting a Cosmetic Notification Form goes beyond a regulatory requirement; it signifies a commitment to consumer safety and brand integrity in Canada. By adhering to Health Canada’s regulations and fostering transparency, brands can confidently position themselves in Canada’s dynamic cosmetics market. Reach out to our regulatory specialists at Freyr for guidance on CNF submissions and regulatory assistance for a smooth entry into the Canadian

Canada shouldn’t retaliate with its US tariffs
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ef3bea8af0b5e2089eabc9bafc5a5da8/e2ba2869527c8ccc-8a/s540x810/8b1d04f108ba4518c932b61e26348285feef2a08.jpg)
Picks and Shovels is a new, standalone technothriller starring Marty Hench, my two-fisted, hard-fighting, tech-scam-busting forensic accountant. You can pre-order it on my latest Kickstarter, which features a brilliant audiobook read by Wil Wheaton.
Five years ago, Trump touted his "big, beautiful" replacement for NAFTA, the "free trade agreement" between the US, Mexico and Canada. Trump's NAFTA-2 was called the USMCA (US-Mexico-Canada Agreement) and it was pretty similar to NAFTA, to be honest.
That tells you a couple things: first, NAFTA was, broadly speaking a good thing for Trump and the ultra-wealthy donors who backed him (and got far richer as a result). That's why he kept it intact. NAFTA and USMCA are, at root, a way to make rich people richer by making poorer people poorer. Trump's base hated NAFTA because they (correctly) believed that it was being used to erode wages by chasing cheaper labor and more lax environmental controls in other countries. Neither NAFTA nor USMCA have any stipulations requiring exported goods to be manufactured by unionized workers, or in factories with robust environmental and workplace safety rules.
The point of NAFTA/USMCA is to goose profits by despoiling the environment, maiming workers, stealing their wages, paying them less, all while poisoning the Earth. Trump's "new" NAFTA was just the old NAFTA with some largely cosmetic changes so that Trump's base could be (temporarily) fooled into thinking Trump was righting the historic wrong of NAFTA.
However, there was one part of USMCA that marked a huge departure from NAFTA: the "IP" chapter. USCMA bound Canada and Mexico to implementing brutal new IP laws. For example, Mexico was forced to pass an anti-circumvention law that makes it a crime to tamper with "digital locks." This means that Mexican mechanics can't bypass the locks US car companies use to lock-out third party repair. Mexican farmers can't fix their own tractors. And, of course, Mexican software developers can't make alternative app stores for games consoles and mobile devices – they must sell their software through US Big Tech companies that take 30% of every sale:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/09/free-sample/#que-viva
Shamefully, Canada had already capitulated to most of these demands. Two Canadian Conservative Party politicians, Tony Clement and James Moore, had sold the country out in 2012, throwing away 6,138 negative responses to a consultation on a new DRM law (on the grounds that they were "babyish" views of "radical extremists"), siding instead with the 54 cranks and industry shills who supported their proposal:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/11/15/radical-extremists/#sex-pest
When Canadian politicians are pressed on why these anti-interoperability policies are good for Canada, they'll say that it's a condition of free trade, and the benefits of being able to export Canadian goods to the US without tariffs outweigh the costs of having to pay rents to American companies for consumables (like car parts or printer ink), repair, and software sales.
Sure, when Canadian software authors sell iPhone apps to Canadian customers, the payments take a round trip through Cupertino, California and return 30% short. But Canadian consumers get to buy iPhones without paying tariffs on them, and the oil, timber, and minerals we rip out of the ground can be sent to America without tariffs, either (oh, also, a few things that are still manufactured in Canada can do this, too).
Enter Trump, carrying a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods, which he has vowed to impose on his first day in office. Obviously, this demands a policy response. What should Canada do when Trump tears up his "big, beautiful" trade deal and whacks Canadian exporters? One obvious response is to impose a 25% retaliatory tariff on American exporters:
https://mishtalk.com/economics/canada-says-it-will-match-us-tariffs-if-trump-launches-trade-war/
After all, Canada and the US are one another's mutual largest trading partners. American businesses rely on selling things to Canadians, so a massive tariff on US goods will certainly make some of Trump's business-lobby backers feel pain, and maybe they'll talk some sense into him.
I think this would be a huge mistake. The most potent political lesson of the past four years is that politicians who preside over rising prices – regardless of their role in causing them – will swiftly feel the wrath of their voters. The public is furious about inflation, whether it comes from transient covid supply chain shocks, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, or cartels using "inflation" as cover for illegal, collusive price-gouging.
Canadians are very reliant on American imports of finished goods. That's another legacy of NAFTA: it crashed Canada's manufacturing sector. Canadian manufacturing companies treated the US as a "nearshore" source of non-union labor and weak environmental and safety rules, and shipped Canadian union jobs to American scabs. Canada's economy is supposedly now all about "services" but what we really export is stuff we tear out of the Earth.
Countries that are organized around resource extraction don't need fancy social safety nets or an educational system capable of producing a high-tech workforce. All you need to extract resources is a hole in the ground surrounded by guns, which explains a lot about shifts to the Canadian political climate since the Mulroney years.
Since Canada is now substantially reorganized as an open-pit mine for American manufacturers, cutting off American imports would drive the prices of everyday good sky-high, and would be political suicide.
But there's another way.
Because, of course, Canada – like any other country – has the capacity to make all kinds of things, including high-tech things. Sure, it's unlikely that Canada will launch another Research in Motion with a Blackberry smart-phone that will put the iPhone and Android in the shade. The mobile duopoly has the market sewn up, and can use predatory pricing, refusal to deal, and other anticompetitive tactics to strangle any competitor in its cradle.
But you know what Canada could make? A Canadian App Store. That's a store that Canadian software authors could use to sell Canadian apps to Canadian customers, charging, say, the standard payment processing fee of 5% rather than Apple's 30%. Canada could make app stores for the Android, Playstation and Xbox, too.
There's no reason that a Canadian app store would have to confine itself to Canadian software authors, either. Canadian app stores could offer 5% commissions on sales to US and global software authors, and provide jailbreaking kits that allows device owners all around the world to install the Canadian app stores where software authors don't get ripped off by American Big Tech companies.
Canadian companies like Honeybee already make "front-ends" for John Deere tractors – these are the components that turn a tractor into a plow, or a thresher, or another piece of heavy agricultural equipment. Honeybee struggles constantly to get its products to interface with Deere tractors, because Deere uses digital locks to block its products:
https://honeybee.ca/
Canada could produce jailbreaking kits for John Deere tractors, too – not just for Honeybee. Every ag-tech company in the world would benefit from commercially available, professionally supported John Deere jailbreaking kits. So would farmers, because these kits would restore farmers' Right to Repair their own tractors:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/05/08/about-those-kill-switched-ukrainian-tractors/
Speaking of repair: Canadian companies could jailbreak every make and model of every US automobile, and make independent, constantly updated diagnostic tools that every mechanic in the world could buy for hundreds of dollars, rather than paying the five-figure ransom that car makers charge for their own underpowered, junk versions of these tools.
Jailbreaking cars doesn't stop with repair, either. Cars like the Tesla are basically giant rent-extraction machines. If you want to use all the "features" your Tesla ships with – like access to the full charge on your battery – you have to pay tens of thousands of dollars in subscription fees over the life of the car, and when you sell your car, all that "downloadable content" is clawed back. No one will pay extra to buy your used Tesla just because you spent thousands on manufacturer upgrades, because they're all downgraded when you sign over the pink slip.
But Canadian companies could make jailbreaking kits for Teslas that unlock all the features in the car for a single low price – and again, they could sell these to every Tesla owner in the world.
Elon Musk doesn't invent anything, he just takes credit for other people's ideas, and that's as true of bad ideas as it is for good ones. Musk didn't invent the extractive Tesla rip-off: he stole it from inkjet printer companies like HP, who have used the fact that jailbreaking is illegal to turn printer ink into the most expensive fluid in the world, selling for more than $10,000/gallon.
Canadian companies could sell jailbreaking kits for inkjet printers that disconnect them from "subscription" services and disable the anti-features that check for and reject third party ink. People all over the world would buy these.
What's standing in the way of a Canadian industrial policy that focuses on raiding the sky-high margins of American monopolists with third-party add-ons, mods and jailbreaks?
Only the IP laws that Canada has agreed to in order to get tariff-free access to American markets. You know, the access that Trump has promised to end in less than a week's time?
Canada should tear up these laws – and not impose tariffs on American goods. That way, Canadians can still buy cheap American goods, and then they can save billions of dollars every year on the consumables, parts, software, and service for those goods.
This is hurting American big business where it hurts – in the ongoing rents it extracts from Canadians through IP laws like Bill C-11 (the law that bans jailbreaking). Canada could become a global high-tech export powerhouse, selling "complementary" goods that disenshittify all the worst practices of US tech monopolists, from car parts to insulin pumps.
It's the only kind of trade war that Canadian politicians can win against Americans: the kind where prices for Canadians don't go up because of tariffs; where the price of apps, repair, parts, and upgrades goes way down; and where a new, high-tech manufacturing sector pulls in vast sums from customers all over the world.
Canada can win this kind of war, even against a country as big and powerful as the USA. After all, we did it once before:

MY JEFF THE KILLER HEADCANONS!
🔪 (Pre psychotic break edition) 🔪
A teaser for my upcoming rewrite!!
(follow to stay tuned!!)
🔪 - Jeff is Armenian-Canadian 🇨🇦 🇦🇲 Jeff’s biological mother married Mike Woods, a Canadian lawyer, so that she could come to America. (The story takes place in Wisconsin) They were together for four years, but he divorced her shortly after Jeff’s birth so that he could marry the home wrecker he was seeing. (Like, they divorced in the delivery room. His dad is that much of a tool.)
🔪 - Jeff LOVES hockey, and was really good at it. He had committed to Wisconsin with a full-ride scholarship to be a center before everything went to heck. He occasionally gets back out on the ice when the weather gets cold. He misses playing for his travel team back at home sometimes.
🔪 - Jeff is surprisingly good at cosmetics. Like, he could fix your hair, or paint your nails, or do your makeup, and do a really good job. He has a lot of practice from doing all of these things on himself (to his parents dismay, god forbid their child express any individuality)
🔪 - He is so. competitive. about. everything. This man will race you to buckle your seatbelt first in a car and genuinely crashout when he loses. It might be his anger issues…
🔪 - Jeff’s music taste is pretty standard emo, with some more quirky bands here and there. He loves other genres of rock though, System of a Down being one of his favourites.
🔪 - Liu is Jeff’s half brother. He is Canadian American 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 Jeff doesn’t like his stepmom very much, and Liu feels the same way. Jeff and Liu are very close until stick-in-the-mud ruins everything :(
🔪 - Jeff HATES being called Jeffery. It happens to him a lot. He always corrects said person with a dull, “Its Jeff”, and he can get really snappy if they persist.
🔪 - He has those scary blue eyes that everyone jokes about on tik tok. The contrast with his dark hair and his constant resting angry face doesn’t help either.
🔪 - Jeff’s dad and stepmom don’t really believe in neurodivergency. Like, they’re the types to think that autism is caused by vaccines. When Jeff’s elementary school counsellor suggested that he might be a sociopath, they cussed him (the counselor not Jeff) out and left. A lot of his problems probably could have been avoided had they just listened.
Thats all your getting goodnight freaks ✌️🕊️

I should have touched on dark elves in my beauty standards post... Let me just slap this on here real quick. So as we went into there, beauty standards can show political dynamics and sort of reflects the politics of who get to be seen as human, who get to be seen as desirable and promoted within a society. So like, beauty is power right, in the sense that beauty standards are highly influenced by the ones in power, the ones who have the time & resources to look a certain way and the power to present that look as desirable to large groups. It’s complex and diverse but generally beauty standards are upheld by the elite, the influential.
By the former 'time & resources' thing I mean stuff like clothes, health, makeup or even cosmetic surgeries, or even simply the freedom to only go out in public when you look your best— Meanwhile the latter, the power to present that look as desirable to large groups, usually applies more to situations where it’s about a whole category of people like an ethnicity that was uplifted as the ideal. Not just in a political or economic dynamic, but discrimination on a systematic level without regard for individual appearance or action.
For example in the former, not all people who wear makeup are rich, and while makeup did historically help signal status, if you’re poor and wear nice makeup you can still touch some of that beneficial association with the beauty standards that makeup helps you attain. In the latter……. Well you get, "no, all elves are good! So the elves who do bad things must be something else!". Where, in trying to have uniform standards for a whole group, you kinda just get erased or othered if you don’t conform to expectations. The elves especially put effort into giving off this air of perfection, which they've successfully made tallmen populations believe. So, for those people, the answer that "But elves are inherently good and beautiful and perfect?" asks, isn't "well elves mustn't be inherently perfect", but instead is "there must be bad ones too, innately too." A similar phenomenon happens with the reverse too, where people will say there are "the good ones" within a group that's seen negatively.
"But Fumi, in this case the difference is purely linguistic and perceived, there’s no visual difference!" Yeah, and there being little visual distinction between two groups has never stopped people from being discriminated tbh. Different types of christians seeing each other as heathwbs for example, or the deep british vs irish hatred that has existed. A tidbit of history I find fascinating was the infamous use of "speak white" from english-speaking canadians against french-speaking canadians especially, because complicated history aside, last century as the business owners the anglophones had the power over the majoritarily francophone working class and a lot of political sway even though they were the minority in the Québec region. There’s a different cultural and ethnic identity there, and language was the most important difference between the two groups- and I suppose the most noticeable one.
The way we as social creatures and social groups categorize people and the groups they form is complex, interesting and very important to our society and the way we approach both the world and social interactions, and that's what leads to discrimination. We decide what’s important and then we decide it’s what people should be judged and distinguished by. Belonging to a group is a show of status, and can be a weaponized both ways, for and against. If you’re not worthy to be an elf, a "good" elf, then you’re not.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/049a922a2c6e5dc5cccbf27ff4bab8f1/c02bb5ac455bc1e8-66/s1280x1920/71c5c158342f5f2d9738aeb0661601d9a7179d86.jpg)
Interesting especially because looking at the elf portraits page there seems to be many different cultures within the elf race, so yes "good elf" vs "dark elf" is considered something like a race rather than an ethnicity or culture presumably. There's definitely a "main" elven culture since it seems pretty uniform whenever it's brought up in the adventurer's bible and the story, though, wether the differenr cultures form different communities in different places or live together as one nation. But maybe more treated like a mental illness since it’s acquired, or sometimes slang? It's not completely clear wether it's thought of as fully innate or something learned, a chosen moral failure like sin is, but with how they speak about it they do sound very essentialists, even Chilchuck seems to get a chill considering Marcille could be one. Quoting Kui's lore comic, "There are two kinds of elves, nice holy elves and evil elves bewitched by darkness". It’s just considered like an innate thing that separates them from the concept of elves... 🤔 But this sort of category being vague is often a feature and not a bug, because then they can be a boogeyman to bring up just whenever is convenient, that can fit whoever, like calling a kid a "fairy's child" for whatever behavior in the olden days, because if you don't precise a lot what a dark elf is then it can apply to whoever you see fit, and it doesn't need to be coherent or consistent. The sort of discrimination headspace that leads to the classic fascist "the enemy is both strong and weak" type rethoric.
"Dark elves" is interesting within Dunmeshi because it's about people trying to fully separate elves from the concept of bad and untrustworthy people, even though they look the same. "Elf" isn’t just a beauty standard, it is The ultimate ideal of perfection both in appearance and morality, and if something threatens that perception and reputation it has to get rationalized and compartmentalized. Those are coping mechanisms to avoid having your whole world view challenged or shattered. To tallmen who practically worship elves, it’s a huge deal!! To them that makes it make sense! Some elves are born good and some elves are born evil, simple as! No world view re-examination needed!
So for Marcille for example... It’s interesting because she has an outside view of elven society despite being elven herself. She was raised amongst tallmen, aka the people who idolize elves to this intense degree. It had to have affected her dynamics with others— not unlike the academy students, mostly gnomes and tallmen, who looked up to her as some natural-born genius, even though she did do research and study to get her skills and grades. It also had to affect her relationship with having a role model growing up (having none around except for her mother who pretty much renounced her elven culture, a novel series that sensationalizes and glamorizes elves), her dynamic with being elven itself, because even though she doesn't feel like she fully fits into it she's interested in elven culture, and she herself enforces the beauty standards around elves and acts elitist about it- as seen when tallmen actors playing Daltian Clan opera, when men are very masculine rather than very androgynous like with Laios, having long hair, having no facial or body hair. With this angle, all of this behavior of hers is very "internalized high standards that were my bible to follow growing up and so others must follow them too and these high standards must be worth upholding".
Considering everything, elves being looked up to as a role model in appearance and behavior, plus them having the reputation of being great at magic, and Marcille having grown up amongst mostly tallmen, we start understanding that there was IMMENSE pressure on Marcille to conform to that idea of an elf. She has a lot of pressure and a very high beauty & behavior compass to conform to. She also has an idealist and rigid sense of justice and morals, like how Namari is a heartless traitor for leaving instead of coming along to save Falin, and she needs people to believe she has noooo facial or body hair. She probably WAS afraid of being seen as a dark elf, aka fundamentally evil, for her dark magic research. You don't want to be a letdown, do you? You don't want to be the ugliest elf, do you? You don't want to be a dark elf, do you? You don't want to be one of the bad ones.

Shave your facial hair and deny you have any body hair. Take care of elven traditions like hair-braiding and have pride. Be the kind, smartest model student. Do magic by the book. Never do dark magic. Ah shit-
And so she hid the domain of her research, and so she hid being a half-elf.

Summary: What happens when jamie carries your son to his game by himself?
Word Count:792
Warnings: this was wrote before Jamie got resigned.
“i want mommy.” Noah says for the tenth time in the past minute, crossing his arms with a pout on his face, As his bangs kept going into his eyes and had a bright blue hockey jersey which brought out his big blue eyes that He definitely got from his dad.
“i told you, she’ll be here before your game starts.” Jamie says as he starts to tie his sons skates and makes sure they are tied good.
“aww, He misses his mommy?” one of the moms sitting on the bleachers near the rink she asks, obviously eavesdropping on the conversation.
“yeah.” Jamie says, chuckling as Noah buries his face into his chest in shyness. “she had an appointment this morning, but she will be here soon.”
Jamie is uncomfortable with the amount of attention the other moms give him. it’s probably because he always takes Noah to practice, leaving you home to cook dinner and give a quick tidy up or relax while he watches his adorable attempts of skating fast to make the puck into the goal. he loves being involved in his son's life even more so since he was taking a break from hockey.
“will this be his first game of the season?”
“it will.” he says kindly with a big smile as the Canadian in him wouldn’t let him be rude.
“mommy isn’t around much, huh?” the mom still pries, this time directing her question to Noah
Noah sniffles, trying to hold back his cries for a moment, before letting them out, “leave me alone, i want my mommy!”
“i know, Noah.” Jamie says, shushing her, with a kind voice tries to stick up for his wife . “Noah’s mom, and my wife, is a wonderful mother who is very much invested in her son’s life. She is just also a busy woman, who runs her own business. just because i bring Noah to practice and games, doesn’t give you any right to speculate”
the woman frowns and finally turns away, which does make Noah stop crying, but doesn’t cheer him up enough to do anything but stay close to his dad.
“you better not be pouting over me.”
Noah being the mama’s boy he is instantly perks up at your voice. “mommy, mommy, mommy!” He launches himself at you, and you catch him in a hug.
“hi baby.” you hold him close making sure he doesn’t fall, letting him bury his head into your neck.
“hello, beautiful.” Jamie says as you lean down to give him a kiss. he deepens it with a hand on the back of your neck, hoping that all those other women trying (and failing embarrassingly) to flirt with him when he’s alone with Noah realize how head over heels he is in love with you.
“it’s almost time for your game, Noah .” Jamie says, noticing the other boys warming up.
“okay, daddy!” Noah hops up off your lap, grabbing his hockey stick carefully walking over to his other teammates.
“i’m so glad i could make it.” you say, running your hand through Jamie’s hair and giving him another kiss as you watch Noah take the ice for warmups.
“me too. He’s so excited for you to watch. doesn’t even care about his dad.” he squeezes your side to show that he was joking. “how was your appointment?”
you’re about to answer when you hear a scoff. you look up, unbeknownst to you it’s the close friend of the woman flirting with jamie earlier. “is there a problem?” you were never one to back down from confrontation.
“appointment? what was this one for? getting your butt done just like your boobs?”
your mouth drops open in shock. you’ve never gotten any cosmetic surgery, but even if you had, it is not this womans business who you’ve never even seen before to comment on it.
“you know, i’m glad you think my natural boobs are so good that they’re fake. it’s a real compliment to me.”
“that’s not-” the woman goes to reply, but you cut her off.
“i bet you’re one of those weird moms who my husband has told me has been attempting to flirt with him and might I added your alittle too old for him. i’ll let you know to back off right now because the appointment i went to was a pregnancy check up. he’s very happy with me. he’s not interested in you.”
Jamie doesn’t even bother to hold back his laugh as she gets up and storms off with her mother gang to the other side of the rink
“she’s got a shit view now.” you laugh, turning your attention back to Noah, completely unbothered by the interaction.
“i love you.” Jamie grins
“I love you more”

whats your opinion on the email leaks linking the rampant transphobic legislation in america to future plans to remove gay rights? are you angry that we were right all along? are you going to deny that trans people have been saying this THE WHOLE DAMN TIME?
You are basically asking me "why are conservatives opportunistically using legislation to prevent predatory doctors and cosmetic surgeons from disabling people (including minors) for life while taking all their money, and to protect women from men who won't listen to "stay out of women's spaces, which we've created for ourselves out of safety", why are they using it now to hurt gay people and women?" That's a question for the conservatives, dude. By creating a political environment where caring about women's sex-based rights and being against medical malpractice for profit makes you a transphobic right-wing lunatic, the trans lobby has made it impossible for left-wing politicians to even have any sort of meaningful discussion about these subjects without risking their careers (no discussion, remember?), leaving it up to actual right-wing lunatics to make the decisions. Of course they're going to use it to their advantage, they're conservatives. This is not the fault of feminists. You guys should probably should start letting people have nuanced discussions about what trans rights activists are really asking for and what is ethically sound so decent laws can be created, instead of leaving all the talking to the misogynist homophobic conservatives while the liberals sit around, afraid to open their mouths because they've been successfully shouted down.
Also I'm Canadian lol. I can't even vote in America, it's kind of a you problem to fix this.

Animal rights organizations in Canada are celebrating the latest legislation that just got passed which bans cosmetic testing on animals.
On Thursday, June 22, the Canadian government passed measures through the Budget Implementation Act, Bill C-47. The latest amendments prohibit selling cosmetics that "rely on new animal testing data to establish the product's safety, and false or misleading labelling pertaining to the testing of cosmetics on animals."
A coalition of animal protection advocates and beauty industry leaders say they've been "working closely with the Canadian government for several years to advance workable legislation to ban cosmetics animal testing in Canada."
Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health, Government of Canada, said in a release that "testing cosmetics on animals is both cruel and unnecessary." [...]
