I knew the wisdom of the Great Laws. I knew pain and anxiety would be her only birthright. She will be at war with herself. She is of an age where her emotions will soar and plummet, mountains and valleys every day of her life! Her mind and her spirit will age, but the world will treat her as she is now! And she will be miserable.

Hot take about Sky angst, regarding the curse of Demise, because I haven't seen anyone talking about this possibility in all those years I've been in LU fandom.
Guys...
Sky has no idea about the curse
Because think about it. Why would he know about it?
My man has been electrocuted multiple times, with magical - basically divine - lightnings in attempt to defeat Demise. All the while fighting for his life with a literal GOD OF EVIL, after spending an entire afternoon fighting an army of monsters and a Demon Lord/creepy ass Sword Spirit. Not even mentioning how worried sick he must have been that entire time, if this time he was also too late too save Zelda.
(always too late too slow not enough and late late late)
I don't know about you, but I don't think he was in any state of body or mind to listen to some dudes last words, when he had to focus on not passing out because he has to make sure Zelda/Sun is alright.
(It got a bit long so rest of the rant under the cut)
Fi gave him clear, that Demise received a mortal blow and that now it's only a matter of time until he dies and that was all Sky needed to stop paying any attention.
Just go through the motions. His vision is blurry, but that's alright just stay awake. Fi chimes to rise his sword. He does. There is some black smoke suddenly surrounding him, but Fi get's rid of it with her light so it's fine. It's probably why she asked him to rise her skyward. The last fifteen minutes he's been following her directions nearly blindly anyway, because his mind is still foggy, he's not sure where he is or what he is doing he just have to get to Zelda.
And then she's there. And everything is fine.
Impa fades, Fi sleeps and he finally rests. Or rather crashes as the exhaustion finally catches up to him.
But he recovers, as best as he can, and live on.
And then eight other heroes, just like him, appear and take him on a quest across the time. They become friends. Then brothers. Soon he feels like they knew each other their entire lives and can't imagine how he can move on after the inevitable goodbyes.
He is so happy that no matter what, there will always be someone among his people, someone from or even outside of Hyrule, to stand up against evil, no matter how many times it will try to show it's ugly face. He's a bit bummed that there even is a need for a hero to show up, but hey! He is not so naive to think people are and always will be only good. Things happen. Some people are just terrible, and some take it out on the entire world.
But somewhere along the line, he starts to notice... something weird.
They all fought that same guy (some of them even multiple times!) called Ganon or Ganondorf. And while he is overjoyed that none of them even heard the name of Demise, he feels kind of singled out. Few of them mentioned an idea of reincarnation. Mentioning Zeldas' connection through blood of the Goddess and their connection through a spirit.
A spirit of a hero.
He always though it was a figure of speech. A way to describe someone courageous who fulfills the quota of being a hero.
But it's not about a spirit of a hero.
No.
It's the Spirit of the Hero.
His Spirit.
An idea begins to form. A distant memory he didn't even knew he had. Maybe nightmares about that fateful fight starting to get clearer by night. Maybe he spends some time talking to Fi and he does not like the feeling he gets from her chimes, even if she can't really talk in her slumber. Maybe he even prays to Hylia in some distant era in an unfamiliar place, so she can deny or confirm his suspicions.
Goddesses, please, may he be wrong.
Because he loves them all like a family. Because they are family. Because he has seen their haunted expressions and blank eyes, he has heard their stories and horrors they went through and nearly all of them were so young, too young, and the thought that he was the direct cause of it-
Sky had no idea that Demise trapped his spirit in a cycle of reincarnation. He had no time to process it or find coping mechanisms before the adventure with the chain happened. He found out during it, slowly putting it together and coming apart at the seems before their eyes.
Sky didn't know about the curse.
And I say, it could be really interesting to watch Sky fall.
(And if anyone knows a fic exploring this idea please let me know! I searched but couldn't find any)

(I do not have the time or the energy to write this into a proper story, but in hopes of sharing the amusement, here is a scenario that popped into my head recently) Jon who maybe had a Bad Time while at university, and he kept failing until her dropped-out. He and Georgie still broke-up, but are doing the trying-to-be-friends thing, and he's still crashing on her couch (that's just. where he goes when he has no other options; the Georgie Couch). He's there when she starts doing her own podcast thing, and just by association, he winds up meeting Melanie earlier. They still hate each other, but because Jon is a raging skeptic and pissy little know-it-all, he winds up going with her on some of the ghost hunts.
Here is the funny part; this is a Jon who never works for the Magnus Institute, and never reads any statements. He STILL winds up getting Marked by various Fears because he's a danger-magnet, he just keeps thinking he met an elaborate hoaxer, like these are all episodes of Scooby-Doo. Melanie fights with him CONSTANTLY, but she has to admit, with his low sense of self-preservation, he's actually helpful when it comes to getting spooky footage, and when a supposed haunting really is fake, he finds out real quick. Melanie begins dating Georgie and moves in. Jon just... doesn't leave. Now their life is like a weird version of Three's Company, with two girlfriends and the scruffy gremlin man who lives with them.
Other funny part; they still eventually go to the Magnus Institute because both Georgie and Melanie want to research various topics. The Archives are a wreck, but Tim, Sasha, and Martin try to help track down the info. Elias sees this guy who is practically RADIOACTIVE with Fear, and he can't get Jon to work for him. It is driving him crazy. Also, this is Jon at his most blunt, who blurts out whatever random thoughts pop into his head. He doesn't care about being professional, he's the guy who antagonizes demons on a ghost show. So he just shakes Martin's had and says "Hello. Your chest looks more soft than a renaissance painting of heavenly clouds. Where's the bathroom?"
Ok but consider: Martin never left the library so he's constantly in direct contact with Jon, Georgie and Melanie. The library staff hates them because they're always causing a commotion. They are also worried about Martin (because Jon won't stop staring at his chests) and are considering just outright banning him. Martin is fine with it (even thinks Jon is cute in a creep gremlin way) but he has no say in the matter because he's the library's baby despite him insisting that he's in his late 30's (a lie).

The thing that haunts me about Neil Gaiman is that he's not just a good writer, I found him to be a very good writer about rape. If you didn't read or watch sandman, there's an issue about a struggling writer who acquires the Muse Calliope, who has been captured and bound. She was supposed to be wooed, and in return would give her inspiration freely, but now she is figuratively and literally raped. Over and over. The writer is rewarded for his actions with a very successful career spanning years if not decades, I forget. I think they included this little tidbit in the show but certainly in the comics as they're showing the span of his career there's a scene where he's having a party at the house where Calliope is literally imprisoned upstairs, and he's accepting praise for being such a good feminist and ally with his work.
It's just. I hope to God Neil Gaiman was just incredibly self-deluded. But I'm just haunted by the thought that he knew exactly who he was and what he was doing, and this was his little joke to himself. Like hiding in plain sight. I know I should probably refrain from making assumptions about his work like that. I'll never know what it was really about. But I just can't stop thinking about it. Particularly because he wrote the comic at the beginning of his career before he was Neil Gaiman TM, and he adapted the comic into a show towards the end of his career when he was already wildly successful. It's so disturbing. I thought it was such a beautiful and poetic way to talk about that topic.
He also talks about rape a second time in those comics, though it never got adapted on TV. He explicitly ties rape into empire and patriarchy in an issue centering around Caesar Augustus. As an oldish man, Augustus always has a storyteller right outside his room because he will often get nightmares and he wants someone there to distract him. By the end of the issue we learn that when he was a child/young teen, his Uncle Julius Caesar would come to his room at night and rape him. Augustus understood that he would be richily rewarded for keeping quiet and never said anything and did indeed go on to become the emperor.
I was so moved by this issue because even as the emperor of Rome, the man with the most power in his society, he still has nightmares so terrifying that he keeps his storyteller on retainer, decades after the fact. In the dark he's like a little boy again, his hurt never healed. I can't believe Neil Gaiman wrote that story and did what he did. It's such a mindfuck.

I could talk about Hetty and her death for hours. I could. And I have. And I will. Hetty rant under the cut if you please DFSDGSFDDS
I honestly don't even know where to begin with this. I have so much to say about Hetty to the point that I woke up at 4a.m today because I couldn't stop thinking about her.
Hetty is an absolutely magnificent character. First off- She is a Victorian Woman. Women back then wernt treated like people. They were thrown around, used and abused, before being thrown away. Hetty was forced into a marriage (with her cousin, none the less) and was forced to be the perfect high-class image her entire life.
She was probably forced into having Thomas, but even though all that, she cares about him. She killed herself to try and secure him a safe future. She thinks Thomas must hate her- resent her for what she did to herself and how she treated him- but you can tell the opposite is true. Even after Hetty is long gone, Thomas still went to her for advice. He asked her if he should marry a lady he was seeing, and he didn't know, but Hetty was there and she cared.
Hetty had all these windows put up around her for all her life. Windows specifically because you can see her, but you can't touch. You can admire, but you can't love. You can see the display version of her that was put out to see, but you never get to see the Real Henrietta Woodstone.
Until Hetty died, and met the Ghosts. Slowly, one by one, they broke down these windows and Hetty was finally able to become herself. She allowed herself to enjoy the afterlife- to indulge in everyday things like TV, smelling foods, sex, jokes and laughing, and so much more that she wasn't ever allowed to do when she was alive.
She allowed herself to love and to be loved.
She made connections with the ghosts, she had a best friend, she had arguments and betrayals, she allowed herself to feel real love for Trevor. She did this all because she knew she had nothing to fear, that no one would be able to come back and hurt her.
But then Elias came back. Actually, it turns out he had been there the entire time. Waiting and listening the entire time, underneath the very house that Hetty was haunting. Though all the years she felt safe and at home, her terrible husband was there waiting the entire time.
They were able to get rid of him, but I can only imagine how terrified Hetty must've still felt. All this time that she felt safe, he was there.
But still, she allowed herself to live, even after this. To change and grow, even though she is a hundred and fifty years old. We have watched her experience new things, we have seen her get a chance to live again through the Arondakers and their BnB.
Then, Flower got sucked off. Or so they thought, anyways. The house wasn't the same without her, whether they liked it or not- they were incomplete. Until they found out Flower had been down a well this whole time.
Desperate to get Flower out and back to the group, Hetty revealed her deepest darkest secret. Her death- suicide. She killed herself to try and save family, but then she finally let the secret of her death out to do the same thing. She saved family.
No one knew, either. Pete knew they had a telephone, Hetty even talked to him about it. When Hetty told him about her phone, all along, she had those cords tight on her neck underneath that dress. And no one knew.
Her and Trevor were having sex for MONTHS, and they probably will again someday soon. But still, he had no idea. Not once did he see those marks or that cord, not once did he ever ask any questions.
I imagine that Hetty was glad. Glad that her shameful secret could hide safe under her collar. But I think she was also hurt. Hurt that a man she has spent countless hours with doesn't realize that there is a secret under there. She works hard to hide it- the fake story made up about her Morphine induced death, so Trevor would truthfully no reason to question it- but Hetty is only human.
She feels real sorrow and real pain, but she still hides some of it. When she pulled down that collar, you can see that she is looking at Isaac. Isaac watched her grow up and pass him in age, Isaac knew her from when she was just born, Isaac is her best friend.
She looks away and looks at the ground, you can see the fear in her face. Fear that no one will treat her thr same anymore, fear that all she will be shown is pitty and apprehension. But that's not what happens. They don't pitty her, but they try to help her. She is their friend, and they don't care how she died a hundred years ago, all they care about is who she is now and if she is okay.

Evermore (Marauder's Version)
@marsmarauders and I welcome you back to our Taylor Swift x Marauders series. We got carried away again but what's new about that huh? Anyways here you have every single song from Evermore related to the Marauders characters :D (I totally didn't forget about this series at all due to midterms, what r y'all talking about? Nope not me)
willow
"Wait for the signal and I'll meet you after dark, Show me the places where the others gave you scars"
Both of us wholeheartedly agree that this is for sure a wolfstar song. This particular lyric could go either way with scars Sirius has from his mother or the scars Remus has because of Greyback and his furry little problem and "Head on the pillow, I could feel you sneaking in, as if you were a mythical thing" bcoz obviously they shared a dorm for 7 yrs and mythical thing aka a werewolf!
champagne problems
"How evergreen, our group of friends, Don't think we'll say that word again"
WOLFSTAR. I feel like this isn't even an argument every single person in the fandom who listens to Taylor can agree on this, this song screams wolfstar from Sirius' pov. "She would've made such a lovely bride, what a shame she's fucked in the head," being said about Sirius ofc
And Tonks being the new real thing who will patch up the tapestry that Sirius shred
gold rush
"I don't like anticipating my face in a red flush, I don't like that anyone would die to feel your touch"
Now this is about unrequited love and I was certain from the beginning is about jegulus specifically from Regulus' pov talking about James pining after Lily for years when he was right there
'tis the damn season
"We could call it even, You could call me babe for the weekend, 'Tis the damn season,"
Seeing as the song talks about a fleeting relationship we couldn't help but think of this as Remus and Grant
tolerate it
"While you were out building other worlds, where was I? Where's that man who'd throw blankets over my barbed wire?"
BLACK BROTHERS. Like no discussion required at all this song screams Black Brothers from Regulus' pov like try and tell me that isn't Regulus talking about Sirius building a separate life for himself with the Gryffindors leaving Reg behind when he always used to be his protector, and now he's all alone. "I made you my temple, my mural, my sky, Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life" this is soo Regulus Black coded
no body, no crime
"I think he did it but I just can't prove it, No, no body, no crime, But I ain't letting up until the day I die"
Upon a lot of discussion and deliberation we have come to the conclusion that this song is Regulus Black about Peter coz he saw him at a meeting and knows he's the spy but by this time his relationship with his brother is basically non existent and he knows Sirius won't believe him so he needs proof
But at the ending the pov changes to Peter, convincing everyone that Sirius was the spy and the murderer
happiness
"Haunted by the look in my eyes, that would've loved you for a lifetime, Leave it all behind and there is happiness"
Now this song we think could go two ways either with jegulus or with nobleflower coz the lyrics "I hope she'll be a beautiful fool, Who takes my spot next to you" and the whole song overall has this tone of the singer wanting their ex lover to lead a happy life without them while also having a very spiteful undertone due to not being a part of it and that screams Black family to us
dorothea
"Hey Dorothea, Do you ever stop and think about me? When we were younger, down in the park honey, making a lark of the misery
Now we have two interpretations for this Marls was thinking more of Remus and Mary from Remus' pov since they are the only two members left of their friend group and Mary was the one who fled, I on the other hand could also see another version which could be Snape talking about Lily, "You got shiny friends since you left town, A tiny screen's the only place I see you now"
coney island
"I'm on a bench in Coney Island, Wondering, where did my baby go?"
For this song while Marls wasn't that sure but I could see Nobelflower all over since the song talks about this badly ended relationship bcoz one of them (Narcissa) had started distancing themselves and acting strange, so the other (Alice) starts questioning their own existence and wondering if they are all alone now that their partner no longer feels known. This being coz Cissa is bound to her house and her duties, one of them being getting married to a pure blood and Alice starts to resent her for it even tho she knows she doesn't have much of a choice
ivy
"My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand, Taking mine, but it's been promised to another"
Now ignoring the affair since we don't think any of them would do that, if we just look at the dying relationship and the beginning of a new one aspect of the song I can definitely see the end of bartylus and then Barty falling in love with Evan and thankfully Marls agrees with me on this
cowboy like me
"And the skeletons in both our closets, Plotted hard to fuck this up"
Both of us agree that is song is rosekiller all the way through bcoz it talks about two con artists who thought they never needed love but then they fall for each other?? Tell me that isn't sooo rosekiller coded
long story short
"And I fell from the pedestal, Right down the rabbit hole, Long story short, it was a bad time"
This is very obviously about Lily falling in love with James after Severus to the both of us, about how in hindsight that friendship wasn't really what she thought it was and now she is genuinely happy and it's all about James now
Tho Marls also suggested it about James and Lily getting together after he broke up with Regulus as well and while I do like it, I personally refuse to associate "Long story short, it was the wrong guy" with jegulus coz that just makes me sad :(
marjorie
"Should've kept every grocery store receipt, 'Cause every scrap of you would be taken from me"
This track again is Black Brothers coded but this time from Sirius' pov missing his brother after his death and regretting not mending their relationship bcoz there was still a part of him which hated his little brother for not running away with him
"What died didn't stay dead, You're alive, you're alive in my head"
closure
"It's been a long time, And seeing the shape of your name, Still spells out pain"
Evans sister. Yep that's it, it's Lily singing to Petunia about their broken relationship
evermore
"I replay my footsteps on each stepping stone, Trying to find the one where I went wrong"
In the words of our lovely Marls herself "REGULUS RIGHT BEFORE HE DIES LIKE RIGHT AS HE'S GOING DOWN TO THE CAVE, I TAKE NO CRITICISM"
And no criticism she had to take bcoz those were exactly my thoughts no discussion needed at all
right where you left me
"Help, I'm still at the restaurant, still sitting in a corner I haunt"
Now Marls sees this as Remus post war bcoz everyone other than him died (or fled in Mary's case) and left him alone and he couldn't move on from the fact for the longest time
And while I do love this interpretation I can also see jegulus after the break up from Regulus' pov, seeing James falling in love with Lily again and having a family "I'm sure that you got a wife out there, Kids and Christmas, but I'm unaware" "If our love died young, I can't bear witness" while he's still stuck there reminiscing their time together bcoz that's genuinely the happiest he's ever been
it's time to go
"Sometimes, givin' up is the strong thing, Sometimes, to run is the brave thing, Sometimes, walkin' out is the one thing"
Sirius Black. That's it. We hear no criticism at all, try and fight us about it and we will strangle you in ur sleep :D I'm not kidding we hope yk that for ur own safety
AND THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY!! Thank you for sticking with us even tho I was very late for this post, the next post probably won't take this long coz Marls is the one who's gonna post that, not me, but I hope u liked our opinions and if not, we'd love to hear urs
Make sure to come back to see Folklore, coming soon! (To a theater near you)

the curse of freedom vs ymir's curse
Last night I finished attack on titan - it was something i had been dreading and postponing for a while, having received a few spoilers from the manga and seen mixed reactions from fans.
I'm not here to judge wether it was good or bad, or to make huge analysis of it as a finale - after all, i'm still digesting and understanding where i stand regarding that.
However, while watching these last chapters, I felt really close to Eren's character. It's funny, because he is purposefully pushing everyone away from him, and for most of the season, we barely see him. He is hiding not only from his friends, enemies and from everyone in between, but also from the watcher. And weirdly enough, that's when I got time to really think about him - and specially after the finale, i felt like sharing some of those thoughts.
When we think of young Eren, the child we are first introduced to, we know that freedom is a very important part of his character. He wants to see the world, to know the truth, to go beyond. He's also obstinate, vengeful and stubborn. Eren is a great main character not because he is the most powerful, the smartest or most skilled, but because he has a personality that is intersting to watch. He is flawed, he is human. And even after getting it wrong multiple times and not being the best, somehow he is magnetic enough to keep the best, wisest and most skilled around - either to protect him of protect others from him.
Jean Paul Sartre says that humanity has the curse of freedom - a burden. It makes us responsable for our choices, making it both a gift and a curse. I kept thinking about it the entire time I was watching this last part of the anime.
Because freedom has always been a key element to Eren's character. Both literally - the freedom of being away from the walls and seeing the world, and figuratively - the freedom of making his own choices, deciding who to trust, fighting for what he thought was fair...
And the worst thing that could happen to him, happens: he is the titan that bares the memories from everyone who has been in that position before. From the moment the touches Historia's hand on, he can't go back - now past, present and future coexist, and his choices don't feel like his anymore - it's just fate.
It's Ymir's curse robbing him from the humanity's curse.
He sees the outcome and knows it cannot be changed. It's impacting because, being Eren, he will try to change it. It's who he is: stubborn, obstinate, vengeful. Obsessed with justice, obsessed with freedom. But now he can't. His entire life he felt in charge, deciding his own destiny based on his perceptions of justice, his bonds, his story. But now he is not so sure - how much was already decided? How much was like that because of the ones that came before? And how does one just keeps living like that, not only questioning everything, but also being aware of all those different memories that used to constitute very different people? But how different can they be, if they all share the same memories?
That's the beginning of the end for him. And he knows that reaching the sea doesn't mean he is free, like he used to believe. He knows that killing every titan won't make him free either, and killing everyone outside Paradis won't either. He's lost his freedom, his gift.
On the other hand, we have Mikasa. Eren tells her that (just like him), she is not free. Her every action to protect him, her love for him, is just the Ackerman's curse. And that's where he gets it wrong. Because Mikasa is free. And it's a burden and a curse for her, unlike for Eren, because it would be easier if she didn't have to choose between saving the world and saving her best friend, the love of her life.
Parallel, Ymir's love for the King kept her hostage, wasn't healthy, made her unable to stop what became her curse, what would haunt all Eldians.
Mikasa loves Eren - and not because of her clan's curse. It's hard to explain what exactly makes us love - we simply do. But to make a long story short, and in an oversimplification, she loves him because of everything they lived together and because she knows him. And her love could be like Ymir's, and keep her hostage too. For the most part of the show, fans made fun of Mikasa for her love, called her a simp, said it made her weaker. But she was the one who killed Eren, because she knew that it was the right thing, even if it was the hard thing. She knew there was no other way. And, deep down, she knew that it was not Eren anymore - and at least she could be the one to, at last, free him. Give him what he had been seeking his entire life.
And that act alone is what touches Ymir and frees her as well. It's not Eren's death. It's Eren's death by Mikasa's hand. It's knowing that love can coexist with all sorts of mixed feelings, and that the freedom that comes with our condition as humans sometimes means that we make choices not only based on our love, and not only because they're easy.
Staying is easier because it means not changing anything - and it feels like no choice was made. We trick ourselves into thinking that leaving, changing and doing the hard things are the only decisions, because they imply movement. But staying is also a choice. Not changing is also a choice. That's our curse: living with the outcome of everything we chose to do and everything we chose not to do. Owning up and taking responsability for staying and for leaving. For hesitating or killing.
And don't get me wrong: it is not easy. As humans, we also have the burden of emotions, mixed feelings, traumas. Ymir's choice - and her love - were so complicated that they paralyzed her. And it was seeing that Mikasa's love was so equally deep that ultimately it made her move to do the right thing what moved Ymir too. And she could finally let go, even if it was the hard choice - because she had Mikasa's example.
Mikasa didn't stop loving Eren just because she killed him. She hadn't stopped loving him when he was terrible to her. She never loved him because of the Ackerman's curse - when the curses ended, she kept the scarf. She loved him when she mourned, and loved him even when she was ready to move on, and she died loving him still - altought love can change troughout somebody's life.
Setting Eren free, she sat Ymir free. And that made all Eldians free - well, as free as one can be, still bearing the burden of humanity. The ending shows exactly that: we can't control what people do with their freedom: what wars are started, whos justice empears, which cycles are repeated. But we can control what we do with our freedom, our choices.
And, just like it was Ymir's curse that ended Eren's freedom, it was humanity's curse, Mikasa's freedom, that ended Ymir’s curse.

Writing in tags got a ball rolling and I'm thinking more and more about full ghost/bitter babysitter Vlad
Thinking about how Jazz and Danny grew up with ghost hunters as parents and a ghost as an uncle, the types of wrenches it throws into the family's relationships with each other...
Starting with the parents' perspective,
It's easy in the beginning to dismiss the paradoxical nature of ghost hunters having a ghost live with them, The Ghostbusters had Slimer, Fentonworks has V-Man. At the start, their tiny children can see and understand the difference between their friendly uncle Vlad (who at the start, looked like a pathetic wet kitten) and a 'real' dangerous ghost.
It's less easy when you and your old friend wind up in an arms race driven and perpetuated by both rational and irrational fear.
At the start when he looked human and his grudge was apparent but it was shown when he was passive-aggressively doing chores around the house and getting the kids ready for school, it was funny, guilt-trippy, sure, but also helpful. Now that the kids are teenagers and can do their own share of the chores and get themselves ready for school that grudge needs other ways to manifest and he can't break inventions and loom ominously on their bedroom ceiling forever.
"We're not *just* ghost hunters, there's more to our studies than dissection and having Vladdie around makes those other studies easier."
With time, turns into...
"Well, how would we know if our anti ghost forcefields and other ghost proofing gadgets work or not if we didn't have a ghost to test them on?"
With more time, turns into...
"This is the Fenton Ecto-Vaporizer, it turns every ghost caught in its rays into nothing but steam! Well, every ghost except the pesky patient because it grew immune to Blood Blossoms and effect amplifying serums 🙄"
And for the most part 'the ghost haunting our home for decades is immune to our shock collar and we need to make something stronger or he'll rip our spines out of our bodies and wear our skins like coats' is said in jest,
at the end of the day,
during those nights that SHOULD be silent but their guilty consciences make the whispers at the end of the bed recounting the day they not only killed, but dumped their best friend like garbage and fled the state that much louder as the bright red eyes of the vengeful spirit become their unwelcome night light...
They have to ask themselves will he kill them before or after the kids go to college?
From the kids' perspective... where do I even start?
Okay, good news is that they had a good tradeoff with a better childhood, I mean for starters their Christmases were a lot less nasty with Uncle Vlad and I strongly suspect that Little Danny's favorite Christmas story of all time was 'A Christmas Carol' as he'd love the christmas ghosts thanks to knowing his own 'christmas ghosts'.
And both kids grow up knowing that ghosts CAN be good people, they see their uncle lose his outer humanity over the years while they grow up and come to understand that just because a ghost can *look* mean and scary doesn't mean that they *are* mean.
Danny would likely have more 'tools' in his belt other than fighting. Sure, fighting's on the table if need be, but when it comes to different ghosts and their different issues, he'd likely stop and ask himself "Is this ghost who's screaming about a dance in need of a butt-kicking, or is she in need of some help?"
but as teenagers who can see that their family situation is NOT normal...
Jazz knows that there's more to Vlad's tragic story than 'I was really sick and your parents didn't visit me in the hospital :C'. She also knows he's not telling her.
Granted, nobody's really comfortable telling the girl one raised to adulthood that their parents murdered and abandoned them without a second thought,
But the whimsy and charm of 'oh look my uncle's a ghost' is lost when 1. you're not a kid anymore. and 2. getting him to be emotionally honest and upfront with you about his past is like pulling teeth.
Does Danny go to any of the adults when the accident happens? CAN he go to any of the adults when the accident happens?
It's established how he hates the idea of his parents getting a divorce, of losing his family, and at this point in time despite their attempts to hide it in front of him and Jazz, he can pick up that Vlad is not happy with or around his parents who in turn appear more and more uncomfortable with their old friend.
He knows that his mom and dad can put up with ghosts if they absolutely need to, but how will they take knowing that HE'S a ghost?
And how will Uncle Vlad himself take it?
He can trust him to teach him everything he knows about being a ghost, but at the same time, he's grown up watching Vlad destroy any and all inventions his parents make that seem too dangerous to them, so what would he do to his parents if he knew that 'their negligence killed him'?

Note
I've been off tumblr for two weeks and I think I'm hallucinating... what happened??!!
Hi anon 💚
Here’s a summary of some Alicole and general leaks (spoilers ahead):
Alicole becomes canon in S2.
We apparently get two sex scenes in the first two episodes (I've also read about two sex scenes in ep 1).
Leaks said that the first Alicole scene of the season is a sex scene. People went crazy saying Criston will r*pe Alicent. Turns out the sex is consensual.
Alicent and Criston both know that it's "wrong," but they "just can't stop" sleeping together.
Olivia and Fabien in an interview for S2 said that they had filmed a “beautiful, messy, scrappy sex scene” that didn’t make the cut. Alicole haters started saying that Alicent and Criston have been sleeping together since S1 and that Daeron is their son.
There’s also a rumor that Daeron will be given Nettles story if he turns out to be a non-Targaryen dragon rider.
Leaks say that Alicent and Criston sleep together during B&C, which means the show has changed the plot for B&C significantly because Alicent is not in her chambers when Helaena enters looking for her, hence she doesn’t witness the act (neither is she there to comfort Helaena and her grandkids afterward). This is expected to devastate Alicent and Criston who will blame themselves.
Matt, Olivia, and Fabien ranked Aegon as the worst father in HOTD (yes, even below Viserys).
We got the name of Alicent's mom: Alerie Florent. Alicent lights three candles in ep 1 for her mom, Viserys, and Lucerys.
Emma said that Alicent is haunting Rhaenyra's mind and that she influences her decisions. Olivia said that Rhaenyra is a phantom in Alicent's mind and she wants to reconnect with her.
Olivia also said that Alicent regrets installing Aegon on the throne.
Alicent and Criston have received much uncalled-for hate for being hypocrites (referencing back to "they've been sleeping together since Driftmark! theory").
According to a leak, Helaena and Larys discover that Alicent and Criston are lovers by the end of ep 1/ beginning of ep 2.
Olivia said Criston is perhaps the only person Alicent can trust in S2. Fabien said that S2 will explore more of Criston's POV.
There's a scene in S2 ep 1/2 where Alicent helps Criston put his armor back on.
Part of a S2 trailer leaked showing Alicent pushing Criston to a wall and then turning around so that she's the one against the wall while they make out. It looks like it consists of two separate Alicole scenes within the same episode.
In general, it's been a wonderful two weeks to be alive.

Toki Reads Shonen Jump 2024, Issue #52
Tumblr media
HxH: Morena's card game begins, and she exposits that she was conceived in a state-sanctioned non-consensual orgy; Borksen learns that thanks to Nen restrictions, she actually does have actually does have an escape route. The implications of Morena's backstory are certainly staggering, but also lost on me
Yozakura: Taiyo has an "I know you're in there" fight with himself, ending with him expelling Asa by shooting himself in the heart. Taiyo's willingness to damage his own body to make it uninhabitable to Asa doesn't seem ideal, but definitely preferable to being possessed
Undead Unluck: Soul tries to force Andy and Victor's souls back together, but Rip cuts them apart permanently with Unrepair. This is Rip's capstone, where he finally uses Unrepair for someone else's happiness instead of ruining his own with it
Roboco: Roboco writes more shameless ripoff manga, but finally learns that her own original material is a lot better. I have no faith that this lesson will stick
Sakamoto: Atari's luck has literally run out; she reveals to Tenkyu that his friendship w/ Uzuki is irreparable; Shin resolves to kill Tenkyu, even if it means severing ties with Sakamoto. Both Tenkyu and Shin are losing their friends because they're killing in their name against their wishes; Atari's an idiot for using such an obscene amount of luck last chapter just to fire ONE bullet
EluSam: Tokiyuki and realKojiro gush over Kojiro as he fights Nagao; the scene cuts away to Mima getting into architecture and interior design. This seems to have an affect on enemy morale, but I feel like it's not worth ignoring what seems to be Kojiro's most important fight
Witch Watch: The flashback gang discusses the legacy of Familiars and their prejudice towards humanity; Kuon warms up to the team, and Taiga raises more death flags. The idea of magic fading away as a sign of peaceful times is a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately because I've been revisiting Medaka Box; this may inform a future essay
Blue Box: Taiki endears himself to Chinatsu's dad with his earnest, if a bit overbearing, nature. I'm glad we're not drawing out the tension too much, it makes the dad more relatable
Akane: Despite Miroku's refusal to let them perform, Shiguma and Issho learn enough rakugo for Kiroku to give them a slot; Miroku offers to grant Kiroku his name and rank if he will use it to expel the pair. This is clearly the event that led to the founding of the Arakawa School, but even with a foregone conclusion, it's a nailbiter
Kill Blue: Juzo and Shin use assassin techniques to advertise the bakery; Yoichiro wagers his staff's bonuses to whichever club can beat their challenges. Clearly he's plotting something, but I can't quite see yet how this furthers his plans
Nue: Rido spontaneously achieves his Bankai Spirit Armor and promptly passes out. It looks cool, but I'm already so unclear on this power system's rules that such an upgrade only serves to confuse me further
Kagurabachi: In a side story, we revisit everyone's favorite guy, Sojo, trying desperately to enjoy a bath despite his routine being ruined at every turn. Looking back, I'm sad that Sojo died; I hope he continues to haunt the narrative
Chojo: Keinain's new assistant, Makami, finds everything about the Chinjuku station to be lewd; this is not because she's a prude, but an extremely repressed pervert. Would
Astro Royale: Himuro reveals he became a cop to stop the Yotsurugi family from interfering with his dad's business, but only found out later that they were supporting him through hard times; the damage he caused this business relationship resulted in his father's suicide; he eats the Daybreak Ore and becomes a mutated mass. Himuro's motivations now reflect Kinpa's, but just like he hurt his dad by targeting the Yotsurugi's, his rage is misdirected and self-destructive
Kiyoshi: Asuta's time runs out and he gets away, cementing the sacrifices made to summon him; as he leaves, he calls Kiyoshi his soulmate in a perverse twist on Kiyoshi's own desire for friendship. Axe-deniers when the lead fails and lets 100 innocent people die - 🎉🍾🥳🎊🥂; throw the yaoi girlies in there too since there's about to be a huge boost in sales
Hima-Ten: Tenichi takes up the rear on the class hike; Himari fakes an injury to keep him company. Very cute, but how the hell does this moron not realize she's in love???
Ichi: Just before the contest begins, Ichi sees a mysterious figure; the Kindake Magik vows to kill everyone who doesn't worship his mushrooms, then escapes into his mushroom forest. So much for not being a human-hater; Togeice's poor sense of direction will certainly make this challenge much harder on her
Shinobi: Yodaka sabotages Hachikuma's strings and turns them against him. Though heavy-handed, Yodaka straightening and braiding Hachikuma's discarded, tangled strings as a symbol of the value of putting effort into maintaining relationships is sweet
Hakutaku: The mechanics of the AR game are explained, but Hikuma sleeps through people actually enjoying it. Maybe it's cus I don't like mobile games, but I do not see the appeal of this game, which is probably the most damning indictment of a game design manga
Syd Craft: Elio is revealed to be Levie Olyn, Syd's favorite romance author, who became his assistant after he cleared her name in a case; she writes her books to vent her DEFINITELY NOT ROMANTIC feelings for Syd. That's a great dynamic, I love girls who pine, I'm super endeared to this idiot
My top 3 manga for the week are:
Undead Unluck, unsurprisingly, for its fantastic color page, multiple great spreads, and at least two of what will undoubtedly become the most iconic moments in the entire series; congrats on netting the final cover of the year!
Syd Craft for continuing to expand upon its concept in a way that really appeals to me; let it be known I never said Tsutsui was a bad author, I just said he was a coward
Kiyoshi for dodging the axe, establishing an interesting dynamic between Kiyoshi and Asuta, and the bravery to leave it on such a bleak cliffhanger
Runners up include Astro Royale and Shinobi Undercover, both for giving me some interesting symbolism to chew on, as well as Hima-Ten and Chojo for women in denial that fall short of Elio
Edit: I want to correct something I said last week - it does not seem like Bug Ego is joining Weekly Jump after all, I think someone I follow on twitter either got a bad tip or I misunderstood what they said. Bug Ego was added to the Shonen Jump app, not Shonen Jump itself. Apologies for any confusion!

I think the idea that the latest episode was about one person with a split personality is... boring. The "split personality twist" has been done to death. "They were crazy the whole time" is just as cheap and lazy as "it was all a dream".
The failing marriage metaphor isn't a bad interpretation, but if you want to view the story as supernatural then personally I think it's more interesting to view the entity possessing them as something akin to the spirit of an abused child.
The couple is being puppeteerd as if they're dolls being used to play house. "I just wanted what she never gave me!" Could be read as the child using the couple to live out the loving mother child relationship they never had, but because the child was so young and didn't get to experience what an actual healthy parent child relationship was like, they aren't able to keep echoes of the abuse from seeping in, getting worse and worse over time.
The child wants the couple to be their ideal idea of a mother and child, but their perception of what that is is warped in ways the child is too young to understand.
They weren't married but children often assume that marriage is required for babies to happen, and young children don't have any real understanding of what marriage actually means, which would explain the lack of marriage records and why they never really acted like a married couple in the beginning.
The spider and needle imagery that keeps appearing makes sense when you consider that spiders and needles are extremely common fears for children to have. And there's the added feelings of being trapped and caught in a web when the one person you're supposed to rely on is also the one hurting you, and you can't do anything to stop it.
And needles are commonly used to kill unwanted babies. There are many stories of babies being killed by the parents sticking needles through their soft skulls and into their brains to kill them. Which would also tie into the holes in the wifes brain and the husband constantly getting needles stabbed into his body.
Maybe the child was killed as an infant or toddler, and their body was hidden in the walls to rot, hence the mold, and the fire destroyed the body and finally released the spirit from the house.
The idea of a haunting being caused by a baby or toddler is an interesting idea.

Byler, El and the folklore love triangle.
Taylor Swift’s 7th studio album, “folklore” (along with the sister album “evermore”) has written between the lines a love triangle between one teenage boy, James and two teenage girls, Betty and Augustine.
Taylor herself has said, “Betty and James end up together but he {James} put her {Betty} through it.”
However, the way byler and El tie into this is slightly different.
The way the folklore love triangle works is like this, James and Betty were together and had some sort of falling out. Then, James went away for a summer and cheated on Betty with Augustine. But, after that summer, James basically ends up ghosting Augustine because he realizes that he really messed up with Betty and needs to make things right. So, he shows up to a party she was having and the kiss and makeup and start dating again and “end up together.”
Now that you know what the folklore love triangle is, I can tell you how Byler and El fits into all of this.
How I think this works is Mike is James, Will is Betty and El is Augustine. And here is why.
James is obviously Mike because he is the one stuck between the two “girls”. The “girls” in this situation being Will and El. he can’t choose whether to be unhappy in his relationship or pursue the person he wants but hurt the girl he is with and put a target on his back.
Will being Betty just makes the most sense. Will has been there from the very start. Even though Mike and Will obviously never canonically dated, they’ve been best friends since kindergarten. Also, Mike and Will have had SEVERAL falling outs and the one that always crawls back to Will is Mike, begging him forgiveness.
Now time to talk about El. Please don't get me wrong, I LOVE El. Please do not think that I am one of those bylers that hate El. I don’t. However, El is Augustine. She has simply not been there as long as Will has been. She is basically just a distraction for Mike in a romantic sense. Hear me out, Mike is using El as a shield to hide behind. So he can hide from his internalized homophobia. I am NOT saying that he thinks of El as an object. But it’s more on head, he’s thinking that he can’t possibly have feelings for Will because he has a girlfriend. And if he has a girlfriend, he can't be picked on. He can’t be a target.
TIME FOR LYRIC ANALYSIS!!!
Cardigan
Cardigan is the song that tells Betty’s side of the story from her perspective. Which in this form is Will's side of the story from his perspective.
“I knew you.”
Like I’ve said many many times Will has been there from the very beginning. Like, he was the first friend Mike ever had.
“A friend to all is a friend to none. Chase two girls, lose the one.”
I’m sure one of the many reasons Mike doesn’t want to break up with El and confess his feelings to Will (atleast right now in the canon) is because he could and probably will lose both of them. Because if he breaks up with El, that’s already enough grounds for losing her not to mention the whole part about being in love with her brother. Mike could also loose Will because he could reject Mike for the sake of saving El’s feelings.
“And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed, you put me on an said I was your favorite.”
Mike has always been the first one to notice when anything with Will is off, the first one to find him when he’s wandered off while in an episode. He has been “the only one who cares about Will” from the start.
“I knew you. Leaving like a father, running like water.”
We all know that Mike runs from all of his problems and won’t stop running until he falls off the face of the Earth. But Will doesn't know why he’s running from him.
“But I knew you’d linger like a tattooed kiss. I knew you’d haunt all of my what if’s.”
Will knows better than anyone that the feeling of Mike lingers. It stays and it won’t go anyway and it’s bittersweet.
“I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired and you'd be standing in front of my front porch light.”
Whether Will liked it or not, he knew that Mike would be coming back sooner rather than later. And he wanted that way. He didn’t want to push Mike away. It would be impossible to push away the person that he has called his best friend all his life and the boy that has been with his sister for years.
August
This song reprents Augustine perpective of the whole situation which would equalivlate to El.
“‘Cause you were never mine.”
I don’t think that El is stupid, she has to know or have somewhat of a feeling.  But also, I feel like she knows that Mike would be better off with Will. And, honestly, I think she’ll be better with someone else who actually listens to what she needs. I do not think that El and Mike are good for eachother is a romantic way. They aren't loving eachother they way both of them need it.
“I remember thinking I had you.”
I think that in retrospect, it’s funny to El all of the things she tolerated from Mike. And I think when Mike and El break up she will realize that they simply weren't right for each other in a romantic sense. Platonic with a capital P.
“So much for summer love and saying us”
I genuinely think that when El and Mike broke up in season 3, they should’ve stayed broken up. They would have still been friends and still talked to each other. But if they would have broken up it would have been the best for both of them. It would have saved both of their feelings.
Betty
This song is James apology to Betty after dissapering and cheating on her. This would equal Mike.
“Betty, one time I was riding on my skateboard when I passed your house. It's like I couldn't breathe.”
I know for damn sure that Mike Wheeler could not go near that house after Will moved out. I feel like it would make him sick to his stomach when he looked at it.
“The worst thing that I ever did was what I did to you.”
I know that Mike regrets the shit he did in Season 3. The fights, the blatant ignoring of Will to focus on El and his relationship that’s falling apart in front his eyes.
“Slept next to her but, I dreamt of you all summer long.”
I think that Mike really started to realize that he likes Will around the end of season 2 and season 3. Which is also around the same time he starts getting more defensive towards Will. That's when it all starts going downhill. Because he is starting to realize this feeling and with El breaking up with him, he is losing things to hide behind.
“The only thing I wanna do is make it up to you.”
We all know that if season 2 Mike saw seasons 3 or 4 Mike, he would beat his ass. But I still think that there is a little part of Mike that still really cares about Will like season 2 Mike did.
This is a rework of something i did a really long time ago so if it seems familiar and you've been around my blog a while that's why!

Twin Skeletons
Part V
Beginning previous part
I wrote it at 2am, slept till 4am and then read it over sleep deprivation. And I felt like posting again so enjoy!
Again: I know nothing and do what I want. This goes also for the American traffic system or (sadly) astronomy.
The next thing Danny is aware of again is Tucker standing before him and asking something about breakfast. Ohhh it was time for breakfast. Danny did really drew for the rest of the night. Looking down on his sketches, he still feels like the memories are too real, too closely below the surface. He still feels like drawing, to get it out of his head but there is no time for it anyway. At least the headache has settled towards a little throbbing in the back of his mind, he can work with it.
"Dude? Are you coming? Breakfast is waiting!"
" Yeah, yeah."
Putting his sketch pad back in his backpack he crawls out of the bed and follows Tucker out of the room.
Breakfast is pretty good but at this point Danny considers every food that is not reanimated and  or ready to eat him good food. This should be a thing, sadly it is. After breakfast he and his classmates were getting their bags and were supposed to be on the road back home. Danny had put everything away last night before his little impro journey and nothing was left lying around, so he didn't bother to control his bags, he knew for sure he got everything.
Not like Tucker, his best bro was running around like headless chicken to get everything together, it was amusing to witness - and for once not being the one who sank into the chaos-.
It was time to get home, back to his haunt and back to his family. Strangely enough the last part did not feel as true as it should be but Danny is ignoring it, just like he is ignoring the not memories form last night or the drawing he did.
Back in the school bus -in last seat next to Sam and Tucker-, he was asleep as soon as the bus drove past the city limits. It was like Noctrum themselves got hold of Danny and pulled him under.
"Stop crying this instead, if anyone witness you like this, they will punish you again."
 "B-But Akhi."
"No! This is our mission. You are supposed to kill too!" " But I don't want to! Why can't I just keep protecting you?"
"Because you are weak Danyal I don't need protection form someone like you! You are a failure and a shame as an Al ghul!" And with this his brother turned away. He never looked back towards his hurt brother.
"Akhi!" he knew this was the moment he truly lost his brother, he sounded just like Grandfather and this hurted way more than his still bleeding arm. If he didn't hesitate, if he simply killed he would not have got hurt. But he saw the fear in the eyes of his victim, this young man did not deserved death, his only sin was being sired by the wrong father.
Just one more reason for grandfather to be disappointed in him. Slowly he reached towards his sword and followed his brother home.
He was little, oh so very little but he was not alone by his side was his twin, they were always together. A faceless woman gently caress their heads. She told them a story. A story about their father and their birth. A story about how special they are and a story about the great thing they would do together because they are the Demon twin.
Danny felt warm safe with his brother by his side in the arms of their mother.
"Akhi! Look! All those stars, aren't they beautiful? Here in the desert, you can see the milky-way."
The boy next to him rolled his eyes at Danny's enthusiasm.
"Danyal, focus. This is why Grandfather thinks you are not a worthy heir. You are too soft and too easily distracted. Now, We need to get home."
" I know Akhi, I know. We should try to find the Polaris or Orion should also be easy to spot this time of the year. "
Danny looked at his twin for a moment and then turned his face also towards the sky. Here, abandon in the desert with his twin by his side he felt the safest. There was once a time where Danny and his brother were inseparable. They would hide together from the mean teachers and instructors, they would steal some sweets from the kitchen, they would crawl in the bed of the other and hold each other after a bad dream or they would care for their wounds together.
But than Grandfather's eyes and judgment fell on them and he was found lacking -beside being blessed by the Lazarus water- while his brother was promising.
Finding either the Polaris or the Orion wasn't hard for Danny, he could find them with his eyes closed, but there was always this spark in his brother's eyes if he was able to accomplish something and prove his worth, so he said nothing for a while. "
Akhi, did you know grandfather has a star named after him?"
"Danyal! You are supposed to fo-"
"There it is! We need to go this way." Danny knew how his twin did not like to be interrupted but sometimes it was half the fun.
"Tt. Then let's go."
Danny followed him, still looking at the stars.
" There is really a Star named Ras Al Ghul, the demon head, you can find it by the Pegasus. In the Greek mythology it was said that the horse Pegasus was born from the blood of the Medusa after the hero killed her. Her Head is what they called the Demon head. Even if the story is not about Grandfather, the star and him share the same name."
Danny knew his brother was looking at him, they both knew they never talked useless they have something to say, it's was their tutors and Teachers taught them. So Danny turned towards his brother and smiled.
"How about we name a whole constellation after us? It's the Demon twins and it would be our story. Damian and Danyal, always together, together invincible. It's the story of how you earn the title Demonen head and how I always watched your back. We protect each other and one day we will be free! Like the birds and the stars."Damian was now smiling too, it was just a little smile but that is how his brother always was." how would it look like? "
" I'll show you! It's there, just over Polaris, the bright one is facing east, that's yours! This way you would always find your way back home."
"And what about you?"
" I'll be this one, in the west and the stars between us. Their are our swords. Do you see it?"
"Yes Akhi. I see it. This is the Demon twins. Always together and together invincible."
Everything hurts. But it is also so cold, so very cold. The pain transformed into a numbness as every grow colder. Everything is dark and red and Danny is tired so very tired. His brother is with him, he knows it even if he can't see him anymore. Just one more time he wants to feel his brothers warm, hear his twins voice for the last time but everything is fading so quickly. ".... Ahibuk…. Akhi…."
Akhi….
"Akhi." Danny woke up with a start and no idea what language he dreamed in.
He is still beside Sam and Tucker and still not home.
"Dude! You were talking in your sleep."
" we didn't knew you know Arabic."
"I don't. I didn't. How do you know I was speaking Arabic."  Rubbing his face he tries to wake up more but his limbs still feel heavy and his brain is groggy. He grabs after his backpack. He wants to sketch again, he needs to get his mind clear again. The not memories are still there and don't make any sense.
Tucker just waved his PDA in his face. "Speech recognition software."
" Figures. Where are we?"
" Donno, you slept for 6 hours or so but there are still three till we are back in Amity Park."
Groaning Danny let's his head fall back against the head rest.
" Ugh. I need to move."
" You are lucky. Mr. Lancer announced a little break at the next rest area."
"Yeah lucky me… " where is his sketchbook? Is he too tired to find his sketchbook? Maybe if he tries really looking into his backpack rather than just grabbing blindly for his book, he would find it. But even after looking, It's not in his backpack. He definitely put it back in his backpack. He knows he put it back before breakfast.
"Hey Tuck, do you know where I put my sketch book?"
" In your backpack, why?"
" It's not there."
" You're sure?"
" Yeah."
" But the room was empty after I got my things."
" Did you two also checked under the bed before leaving?"
"... no."
" You probably forgot it. "
" Ugh"
"Tough luck buddy. You should have checked your things too rather than laughing at me."
"Uggghh."
The rest stop was a great opportunity to get his leg stretched and he also found a cheap notebook and a ballpoint so he could sketch again, hopefully no super criminal or mad villains found his book, he drew some of his parents shenanigans in there too. He should probably get back to look for it. But he was only just a lazy teenager who wanted to get home. Maybe next weekend if his rouges gave him a break.
The last three hours of driving were boring. Sam and Tucker were sleeping. Dash tried to bully him again and took the notebook. Mr Lancer did what a good teacher would do and stopped Dash, unknown to the teacher he didn't really helped he only delayed the inevitable, but hey points for trying or whatever.
And Danny drew, he drew well known constellations and he drew constellations no one else knew like the demon twins or the Bat. Both constellations were made up of his not memories and dreams.
And finally, finally they arrived home.
Looking out of the window as they stopped at the school, he saw a lot of parents from his classmates ready to pick up their children.
Not surprisingly his parents were nowhere to be seen. Danny was only a little disappointed, they promised they would be here to pick him up, he really should have seen it coming.
At least now he got time to release Skulker from the thermos. The hunter thought it was a good idea to try getting his pelt just before they were on the way to Gotham. Danny did warn him he would be stuck in thermos for a week, the ghost still attacked and surprise surprise he got stuck in the thermos. And it was a good enough excuse as any other to try to visit Clockwork. He's still has questions about the doppelganger ninja.
People who wanted to be tagged: @queenieofsouls @my-mom-calls-me-rat @daemonlogical @crystaldrops20 @justwannabecat @cryptidren @mayoota-blog1 (tagging you wasn't possibly for some reason, I don't know why)
Note : okay why does Tumblr not like if I make paragraphs? I put space between paragraphs for a reason.
Anyway I sadly don't know much about astronomy, Orion shows you were east is, the big dipper helps finding the North star (Polaris) and there are stories behind the constellation.
Does anyone knows how I can shorten the post?

ARC REVIEW: The Rules for Ghosting by Shelly Jay Shore
Tumblr media
4.5/5. Releases 8/20/24.
vibes: light magic, love after loss, complex families, and waking up into life
Heat Index: 5/10
Ezra has largely disconnected from his family's funeral home--in part because he sees ghosts, and hasn't loved his grandfather's spirit giving him disapproving glares as he's transitioned. But when his mother announces that she's leaving his father for the local rabbi's wife, he's forced to pitch in again. Which brings him into the orbit of the gentle, charming Jonathan... whose late husband appears to be the latest spectral entity haunting Ezra. Ben's presence isn't the only problem (though it certainly does cramp Ezra's style). He also speaks. And moves. In other words--things ghosts aren't supposed to do, and things that definitely cause issues as, slowly--against his own will--Ezra begins falling for Jonathan.
What a strong debut! In a lot of ways, this is as much a family story as it is a romance--the Friedmans are complicated (though, and I think this is important to point out... though they may be imperfect about it, they're largely accepting of Ezra's transition) and as the book goes on, you see how those complications have shaped Ezra and his worldview.
Which, in turn, shapes how he can't quite trust his feelings for Jonathan, or Jonathan's for him. Especially with the dead husband thing. But the paranormal elements of this book are soft, and really serve the character development more than anything else. This is a sweet, funny novel about waking up into your life after sleepwalking for a long time. It is, yes, also about grief and loss... and how life really doesn't stop happening after they occur.
Quick Takes:
--Can I just say... a pseudo love triangle between a guy who sees ghosts, a widower, and the widower's husband's ghost? Brilliant. But it's also not really a love triangle, is it? I loved how super real and honest this story was with the reality of losing a partner to death, rather than by choice. Will Jonathan ever stop loving Ben? Probably not. Does that diminish his feelings for Ezra? Nope.
And a lot of this novel does center on the complexities of love. Of how sometimes, it's not enough. Of how it can end, or take another form. (One of Ezra's close friends is his ex, which I found super interesting.) It's really mature, but not in the manner that anyone acts perfect--they just naturally learn and go through these things together.
--There's a good amount of focus on Ezra's Jewish identity and how that fits into the funeral home, as well as his place in the family as a trans man. None of it comes off as an info dump, and at the same time, I (as someone who isn't Jewish) never felt lost. That's a tough balance to hit. Reading about the rituals was oddly soothing to me--I actually have a lot of anxiety about death, and I worried a bit about that as I opened the book. It was kind of perfect here.
--One really cool note: Ezra is a doula! There's only one fully on the page birth scene, but it's the kind you rarely find depicted in fiction. I super loved that detail.
--Jonathan and Ezra's love story is both inevitable and bittersweet. Because as much as Jonathan still has one foot in the past as someone who lost his spouse... Ezra isn't dissimilar. He also hasn't fully come to terms with a lot of things--he hasn't fully processed his transition (understandably) and there's this huge reframe happening within his family. It's kind of refreshing to see a book in which we see a lead really having to do some work before they can fully be true to not just themself, but their partner.
The Sex:
There's one full sex scene in this one, and it's both explicit and, I think, respectful of the insecurities Ezra still has about his body. (I also want to mention that, as far as I noticed, the author also made an effort to censor Ezra's deadname. Which was super cool.) It's romantic and tender and also hot? And it was real about Jonathan's own new experiences, too. I kind of loved it.
In some ways, Rules for Ghosting is more about metaphorical than literal ghosts--even though there is a literal talking ghost. But more than anything, it's about acceptance and honesty and coming to terms with who you are--and all the things you can't necessarily do, even if you want to, until that happens.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dell for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you’ve got the time, I was wondering if you’d be able to share any final-girl-esque book recommendations! I just finished My Heart is A Chainsaw and You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight, and they’ve got me on a bit of a kick. Love your blog and your book roundups! ♥️
my dude, i always have time for final girls! unfortunately, you named two of my faves, but let's goooo! this is an interesting conundrum for me because i love final girls SO MUCH that my bar is super high and only a few of them reach it haha. to those of you who haven't read the above mentioned, those are two of the best! my favorites tend to be ones with a unique or interesting take on the trope, but i'll try to recommend a variety. general slasher-related trigger warnings for all, but i'll try to add specific ones that i remember:
if you liked my heart is a chainsaw, check out the only good indians. it may not sound like there is a final girl, but one appears and i love her. even if you didn't like chainsaw, try this one. i think it's more accessible, though still that sgj weirdness. this one is about four indigenous men who are haunted by a strange deer woman. tw for animal death and body horror.
this is not my personal favorite, but clown in a cornfield is super popular. there is a clown and there are teens and there is a cornfield. murrrrrder occurs.
there are another couple of popular ones that i didn't totally love: the final girl support group by grady hendrix and final girls by riley sager. both feature now-adult final girls who are friends with other now-adult final girls, and murders occur.
no exit by taylor adams is not exactly a slasher, but the protagonist gives me some of the same vibes. note: the synopsis makes this sound like a mystery, but it's not. it's really more of a what would you do thriller! a young woman is stranded with a group of strangers during a snowstorm at a rest stop. she discovers a kidnapped child in one of their cars.
also not a slasher, but the honeys features a genderfluid protagonist and bee-based body horror. weird horror at a summer camp. tw for bees and body horror, probably trypophobia i think.
the night shift is about some similar murders in a small town fifteen years apart- a group of teen girls are murdered with only one survivor.
the shining girls is a cool take on the trope. a serial killer with the ability to travel through time kills particular girls to further his immortality, and one of them survives and tries to take him down. this is also a show now i think but i haven't watched it!
UPCOMING FINAL GIRLS
i'm so excited for there's no way i'd die first is a slasher coming out in september! it looks like a pretty classic clown slasher with a horror loving protagonist.
gorgeous gruesome faces may or may not be a final girl based on the description- could be ghosts or a slasher. maybe both?? but "queer kpop horror" sold me immediately.
burn the negative features one of my favorite tropes in fiction, which is like... fictional pop culture? the protagonist is a former child actress who starred in an infamous horror film in which many of the crew/cast died. when a remake begins, she has to stop more deaths.
i can't tell if the lake house is a final girl story or not... i'll investigate.

Sorry I'm normal and perk up like a cat hearing a bird at any mention of Sunwish. (NOTE - need to think about 🧶 anon's ask some more rotate it in my head but i do concur largely and also am a little insane about it. Holding hands and skipping and singing tralala together as Sun & Scorch apologists respectively & wielder of them all)
IN FOCUS THOUGH. Ohh... I have to wonder about Sun and Morning's relationship. Sun wasn't amongst those openly mourning Morning, to my memory, but I have to think. I have to wonder. Morningbloom was strict and a good kitsitter; Sunwish was righteous and a good listener. Morningbloom was 19 moons when Sunwish was 12 moons - feasibly someone Sun would've looked up to, as an older warrior apprentice then warrior. Morningbloom was the first cat - the only cat, according to my notes - to die directly under Sunwish's paws as the clan's sole medic. (Nettlestem was found dead, I believe? Mauled on a walk.) (Though you COULD speculate she might've been found alive for drama, if you want - probably a case of Sun being in the wrong place, not having the right herbs, or just not being able to repair that kind of damage. Either way, she mourns her.) I have to wonder.
Did Sunwish aspire to be like Morningbloom, of who we saw little, but seemed a respectable warrior? Did Morningbloom appreciate Sunwish's company while she was in the medicine den with a broken spine; did she think her hard-headed righteousness was cute? Did Sunwish appreciate Morningbloom's, prickly* though she could be? For some reason Morning gives me the vibe of someone who's just nice company in general, good to sit with. Heart-rendingly, I can't help but wonder - if Morningbloom was a good kitsitter, Sunwish a good listener, did she tell her about the little cats she'd looked out for before** in those nights she was stuck on bedrest? Reminiscing, maybe laughing off some of Sunwish's dread at the prospect of having to see to some arrive safely someday as the clan's medic, smiling around some casual reassurance. Did Sunwish believe it? Did Morningbloom?
Did she still, as she laid dying under her paws?

THIS IS MAKING ME SO UNWELL WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WTFFFFFFFFF
just. first of all. the final painful edition fucking FLOORED me. i literally stopped and put my head in my hands physically what the FUUUUCK thats so fucked up wtf. holy shit and that just makes me wonder if Oaktuft ever knew that Scorchstar was the one that killed Sunwish. and if they would have felt guilty about it. AUGH???
Morningbloom and Sunwish. oh fuuuck they are making me feel ILL. because i can look back at my drawings fairly easily i can tell you that Sunwish was NOT one of the cats to mourn Morningbloom but i am completely disregarding this bc like. could you fucking imagine. Morningbloom spent all those moons in the medicine den healing her broken spine. they HAD to have talked a bit, maybe even been friends? a little? and yeah Morningbloom grew a little crush on her but WHAT IF. Sunwish finally let slip how much she hated being a medicine cat. and Morningbloom promised once she got better she would teach Sunwish some battle moves or hunting moves. and maybe she DID. maybe the two of them in their spare time went out on faux patrols like Sunwish was a real warrior. maybe Morningbloom was the one to cheer when Sunwish caught her first prey. do you think that Sunwish would have finally grown some hope about her situation, and dreamed that one day she might be a warrior? do you think that when Morningbloom died, her hopes did too?
another thing you're right about is Morningbloom fr has haunted the narrative SO much. arguably more than any other clan founder??? i mean. Scorchstar, Nettlestem, Oaktuft, they were all old and relatively fulfilled when they died. Wildfang didn't really have time to leave an impact on the clan. Sunwish is obviously another story but MORNINGBLOOM. even though she died on only like moon 25 you can FEEL her impact through the story. she's haunting it. imagine how Sunwish felt. even if there WAS nothing she could do, i bet thats not what she told herself. hell, I bet that's not even what Scorchstar told her. even if Morningbloom's ghost didn't really haunt her. maybe all the sleepless nights... idk. i have thoughts.
but FUCK when Sunwish died????? and Morningbloom is like. There. yknow. the physical manifestation of your failure at the one duty you were permitted to do. the only path you were allowed to follow. the death on your paws. standing right in front of you and smiling???? unreal. i bet the first words out of Morning's mouth were assurances that it wasn't Sunwish's fault, it was never Sunwish's fault.
do you think they spend their free time in Starclan practicing hunting moves?
