You should be more careful. Gave your boyfriend a scare,” Jason scolds lightly, but the voice changer on his helmet can’t actually hide his relief. Tim can tell. “Just… my boyfriend?” Kon asks, still too wiped for a cheeky grin, but clearly giving it his best shot. Jason huffs, leaning back to get his hands under Kon’s knees and around his shoulders. He lifts Kon up, settling him as comfortably as he can. Kon groans, probably nauseous after being exposed to kryptonite for this long— but he slumps into Jason, pressing his face into the closest part of him he can reach. Trusting Jason to carry him. From across the room, Tim watches it all with hungry eyes.

we always see fic writers talking about the engagement on their fics, how little people comment these days, and how this is a "community" and people should interact etc. which is all fair.

But I want to ask, how much do THEY read in their fandoms? do they comment and interact with fics made by other authors (and i mean outside of their little author circle too)?

I know not everyone has the spoons to read a ton of fic but I've seen several writers say they don't really read fic. I don't get it, if you can't be bothered to engage in the fandom community, why must other people engage in your work, however good it is?

This is also why I avoid BNF writers because they're so immersed in their own world they forget fandom exists outside of their fics and develop a big ego about how everyone should be engaging with them.

Fic writers should be fic readers and commenters. That's it, that's my point.

But you're exactly right that being part of the community goes both ways. If that's what they're after, and especially if they expect community membership to lead to people commenting on their fics, they'd better be commenting on others' fics first and probably hanging out on whatever social media that crowd is, etc.

It's very obvious to me that a lot of people who like my current OT3 are probably coming at it from the perspective of one of the two-person ships and all seem to know each other fairly well. I'm guessing they're all in that discord I've seen ads for.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (orv for short) is originally a novel, though currently there's a manwha coming out on webtoon.

The basic premise is that an apocalypse starts, and it just so happens to be exactly like the webnovel that the main character has been reading since he was a teenager. The novel has everything: comedy, drama, found family... As you might have noticed, I like it a lot, and have been going insane over it since I read it, so I reaaaaally recommend that you read it.

You can start with the manwha, as it might be a bit easier (especially if you're like me and have trouble picturing characters visually without memorizing images of them xD). Though I reaaaally can't recommend enough continuing to read the novel afterwards, instead of waiting for the webtoon to update.

The thing is they try to go on regular dates sometimes.

It's just that Parker gets bored easy and also wants to go to Pizza Inn and eat one of the dessert pizzas by herself and Eliot, apparently, will die if he is within twenty feet of a Pizza Inn. Hardison thinks that if they're going to a pizza place it could at least be a good pizza place but then when he looks up the fancier restaurant Eliot suggests they do not have orange soda on their drink menu.

So eating out is off the table, apparently.

Ice skating gets thrown out, too, because Eliot starts talking about using a toe pick to kill a man and Hardison loves that he's being more open, really, he does, but it also leaves him a little nauseous.

Eliot suggests a picnic, then. Parker loves the idea, except she wants to go cliff diving too. Hardison's not opposed to the idea, as long as he isn't expected to jump, but it's not exactly a regular date when cliff diving gets thrown in.

But, he figures, it's as close as they'll get. None of them suggested anything illegal, so he counts it as normal enough. Regular-adjacent.

(Parker throws him into the water. Of course she does.)

"Okay," Parker says when the food is eaten and Hardison is mostly dry, "we did your boring normal date--"

"I thought it would be fun to try!" Hardison says. "And it was fun!"

"--Yeah, sure, but next date is mine and I want to jump out of a helicopter."

"It was fun, wasn't it Eliot?"

Eliot rolls his eyes. "Yes, Hardison, I had so much fun being your personal chef." He says it like he's lying, but they all know better than that. "And I'll have so much fun being your pilot, too."

"What? No, you can't be the pilot, silly. You're jumping!"

Eliot blinks once. Twice. "No. No I am not."

Hardison closes his eyes and lets the argument wash over him, lips curved in a smile. He likes to try normal, once in a while, he thinks--if only to remember why he likes the weird so much.

my favorite episode (if its a tv show) chapter: I have such a soft spot for Chapter V. It's just Mina and Lucy exchanging sweet letters and Lucy talking about the boys proposing to her and Quincey & Art writing to each other and Jack, well, being Jack... no horrors in sight yet, everyone's just living their best romcom lives (okay, Jack is living his worst romcom life).

my favorite cast member (in any adaptation): Frank Finlay is a GREAT Van Helsing in Count Dracula (1977). Also, Nosferatu is more of its own thing despite its origins, but I cannot not mention Isabella Adjani as Mina Lucy Harker in Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979).

my favorite ship: Jonmina, obviously, but I have to admit that Morward is quite a close second. What can I say, I love my background niche ships.

a character I’d die defending: the entire Crew of Life + Lucy do not deserve even a quarter of bad takes that exist about them in adaptations and academia

You know, I was surprised by the amount of people asking for s4. I understand, it's your favourite show. Mine, too. I'll be devastated if we never see Phil as Jamie again (he's my fav character, can't do anything about it). I'll miss him very very much.

However,

1. I was amazed by the amount of things they got wrong but general audience saying that the finale was perfect and asking for more. We must be watching a very different show.

2. After that AMA with Brendan, I simply don't trust the writers to continue this. In my mind it's a bit of a relief that we're probably not getting more because of the possibility of them ruining it even further.

Sure, one of my fav episodes (Sunflowers, 3x06) was written by Jason S. and Joe Kelly. Brendan was probably involved in some way, but not enough to give him credit for writing and directing it.

International break, 3x10, was written by Jane Becker. There are moments that I dislike, but the entire Uncle day? Roy & Jamie being besties? Roy finding the right words after he sees Jamie giving a nod to Sam that couldn't represent his team? Chef's kiss. I still think the way they handled Roy x Keeley was awful, but still. It was, more or less, a nice episode in my opinion.

Mom city, 3x11, was written by both Jason and Brendan & I absolutely LOVE it for most part (especially if we ignore the entire 'forgive him' thing with Jamie's dad). Jamie-centric episode that I'll always cherish & it's a shame we didn't have more of those. Give Phil all the awards. Love love LOOOVEEE IIITTT. Even better, give Jamie his own spin-off and invite Phil back as Jamie. (But then again, the fear of them bringing James back into Jamie's life and showing it as a good thing... The fear is Real.)

However, how could all Jason, Joe, and Brendan together write and release 3x12 as is is beyond me. How could they give us all those parallels, all that build up, only for it to ruin it in the finale? Jamie and his dad, Beard and Jane, the weird triangle thing that before this was mostly presented as ot3 but suddenly turned in the dumbest possible '2 people are chasing another same one' and Roy & Jamie both being OOC as HELL. Even ot3 aside, what was that bar talk? Jamie would never. Then at Keeley's house and Roy that's 'been working his ass off for the past year' but actually regressed to the point of BEFORE we see him in s1. He was presented as mentally mature in s1. I understand that he's jealous and insecure, but getting back to throwing punches at your best friend trying to convince himself/believing that after one night stand (that was VERY poorly addressed in 3x10 and 3x11 in my opinion) you're getting back together with your ex when she's been turning you down again and again? After that misogynistic comment about "But she's a woman, so you never know." WHO wrote that and why? Who allowed this to appear in the actual episode? And don't give me the "He's only human" treatment, he was always human but he never treated Keeley that shitty. He was better than that from the beginning. Or is it just me who wanted him to be better? Plus, Roy attacking Jamie after KNOWING what Jamie went through and how awful it is for him.

Before TL there was a show that I loved very much, but it disappointed me to the point that I started hating it, dropped it before the last season aired, and blacklisted it everywhere. I won't name it, but the writers were absolutely awful and treated the fans and the main gay ship like clowns. Typical Cis White Guys behavior towards their own characters and writing them as OOC as possible. I was very afraid this might happen to TL but was hoping that it won't. After 3x12? You guys. All my trust into their writing and believing in knowing what they're doing completely disappeared.

I am gutted bc of how much this show means to me and how it helped me through the darkest time in my life, but also... Are we sure we want more? Are we sure we trust them to continue this with these characters? I can kinda imagine the female football team, but to continue with all of our favs?

yoo sangah for the ask game!!

three facts about them from my personal headcanons

-She faced so much misogyny from both her family and her workplace that the fact Dokja didn't harass her was enough for her to want to try and be his friend. Like the bar was on the floor and it was a relief to her that a single person cleared it.

-Her childhood was lonely, being from a well off family but hating the fakeness of high society and the lack of care towards those not as well off. She doesn't talk to her family much at all and she's never regretted it.

-But since she comes from that upper class, despite her efforts she struggles to make friends easily, especially with women. Her bond with KimCom was the first time she had a family she felt she could truly die for with no regrets.

a reason they suck

Out of all the characters it feels like the authors struggled the most with deciding where they wanted to take Sangah's character. It was very clear from early on that she was intended to subvert her usual character archetype but just how much they intended to subvert it didn't seem clearly thought out from the start. It leaves her with a bond to Dokja that's more highlighted than most of KimCom but not on YooHan's level. It also means that she never manages to carve out the same amount of narrative space as say, HSY does.

a reason they are great

I actually really like that her bond with Dokja is so thoroughly subverted. She's not his love interest, she's not his prize. She's not a goddess or secretly evil. She's just a person trying to survive like the rest of them. She's just his really good friend, someone who remembers who he was before the scenarios and wanted to be his friend even then. Yoohan both meet Dokja for the first time during the scenarios with all this savvy knowledge of the apocalypse. Sangah knew him as this guy obsessed with a webnovel, and she liked him even back then.

a reason I relate to them

Constantly feeling guilty for things beyond their control and feeling like no matter how hard they try there is a wall between them and the people they care about where they can't fully view you as Real and not just what they want you to be.

(what I consider to be) the top tier otp/ot3 for that character

Sangsoo. But more specifically, sangsoo where she's not dating joonghyuk or dokja but hsy is, and she's constantly the only one who can get the entire polycule to cut their antics and listen to her. HSY is highly smug about this even though her gf privileges never stop Sangah from yelling at her too.

five things that never happened to that character that I believe should have happened

-She deserved to snap and go apeshit. Tell everyone to stop fucking calling her a goddess she's just a person and they're all so unhinged she's at the end of her goddamn rope

-She deserved to have an argument with Han Sooyoung that lead to them kissing to shut each other up

-She should have had a Fuck You moment towards Olympus. One just for her where she got petty revenge on them for using her as a pawn.

-I needed one moment where someone fully saw her as a person. Dokja came close but she always knew more about him than he did her. I needed someone who saw her as an equal and I think HSY did but at the same time there was more there we needed to see for me to be satisfied. Probably a conversation within the three years they were living together.

-More focus on her in the epilogue. I get that it's the yoohankim story but for all the reasons highlighted above, Sangah and Dokja have a unique and special bond. I felt there was a tiny bit lacking there and I wanted to see more.

five people that character never fell in love with and why

-Dokja. It could have been something but then he died for three years, and by the time he came back she was also dying trying to keep everyone else alive. In some ways she understands him quite possibly better than anyone, but somehow being inside the Fourth Wall and seeing his entire life just solidified their bond as purely platonic.

-Yoo Joonghyuk. He's not her type. Ironically she is his type but he's already loved Lee Seolhwa which would make any relationship too painfully familiar to him.

-Jung Heewon. In a way she was almost everything Sangah would look for in a partner but on top of already having a thing with Lee Hyunsung, she also comes across as extremely straight. Sangah was convinced she was straight until she saw her arguing with Han Sooyoung and was like wow what is it about that woman and making every fight have underlying sexual tension.

-Lee Hyunsung. Also Sangah's type, but so clearly smitten with Heewon that Sangah would shut any potential feelings down if they ever arose.

-Sun Wukong. She may be Tang Sanzang but her story lies beyond that of his constellation.

WHAT'S GOODDDD

FOr the OTP/Self ship ask game, KiriTodo (Kirishima x Todoroki) for numbers 5, 6, and 10

Hey hey hey! ヾ(●ω●)ノ I'm so excited!!! Okay, okay, let's seeee—

5. Describe their cozy night in: It's starts with Kirishima tucking his feet under Todoroki's thighs as they sit on the couch watching an action flick. Todoroki is only mildly interested. He's too busy watching Kirishima. Admiring his bright laugh at the comedy beats and growling with annoyance when the main character makes a mistake. At some point, he's shifted enough that he's leaning against Kirishima's legs. It's not exactly comfortable, but he's grateful for any kind of contact.

Todoroki must have dozed at some point because suddenly he's pressed up against Kirishima, fingers gently scratching at his scalp. The sensation is calming. Body buzzing with warmth and contentment. He snuggles closer, resting his head on Kirishima's chest.

6. Who would beg the other not to leave? Who has to leave to protect the other? Kirishima is the one to beg. He begs and begs for Todoroki to stay. He's a manly guy. A brick house! Tough as nails! But Todoroki knows better. He knows just how soft and tender Kirishima's heart is. Feels it in the way he holds Todoroki so carefully. Hears it when he whispers into his neck late at night. He doesn't want to leave. In fact, he's desperate to stay. But not at the chance of Kirishima getting hurt.

10. Describe their first date: They both are a bundle of nerves. They decide to do a simple, short dinner—squeezed in during their hectic schedules. Kirishima can't stop sweating or talking. Waving his hands around wildly. Todoroki on, the other hand, can't seem to get a word out. Mouth dry and mind blank. It's part way through dinner that a tense lull comes between them. 'Maybe Todoroki doesn't see me romantically,' Kirishima can't help but think. But it's an unexpected joke from Todoroki that catches Kirishima off guard, and he burst into laughter. And when he finally catches a moment to breathe, he notices the soft grin and faint tint of pink on Todoroki's cheeks. It helps put him at ease.

The night ends with Kirishima walking Todoroki home. Palms sweating as he works up the nerve to ask him on a second date. He finally manages to blurt out the question when they reach Todoroki's front door. He's sure the guy is going to say no. That he's too busy or not interested. So, Kirishima is shocked when he feels Todoroki's lips on his cheek. "Are you free next week?"

A Syd x Carmy x Richie ficlet (from Richie's POV) Because I'm stuck at home with COVID and they're my latest OT3

Things are good. They're good again. Which is great, it's really nice, and it's more than a little scary. And well, sometimes ye olde feeling creeps up on Richard. That feeling that he's good for nothing and nobody.

Syd and Carmy flit through the bustling kitchen (corner, behind, behind, behind, behind), completing each other's sentences while speaking an entirely different language than the rest of them. They're probably in the middle of creating some mindblowing, next-level dish, another culinary love child to add to their evergrowing collection. The intense enthusiasm on their faces makes them look even younger than those fuckers already are, and Richard suddenly feels every year of his four and a half decades.

So yeah, maybe he's a little more cranky than usual when dealing with Fak's idiocy today. And maybe he slams the door just a little too hard on his way to his smoke break. And maybe he's a little too quiet that evening, when they're at Carmy's place together. (Who—out of the three of them—has the biggest bed and no cohabitants.)

He's on the couch next to a pile of faded denim, his eyes on the TV screen but his ears busy trying to pick up what they're talking about in the next room, their voices hushed and serious.

And then it hits him. This is probably it, this is Tiff all over again, this is-

"Hey Richie?!" Carmen's voice calls out from the bedroom.

"Yeah?!" he yells back, somehow managing to not sound like his world is crumbling around him.

"Come get dessert!"

It takes him a moment to recalibrate. Alright. Okay. Carmy wouldn't call a break-up 'dessert', he's not that mean. Syd might, if he really fucked things up between them, then yeah, she'd probably ask Marcus to bake a cake that says 'you're single again, you piece of shit' and serve it to him. But Carmy wouldn't stoop that low, and therefore he is freaking out about nothing so he's going to stop freaking out now. Things are good.

Things are good.

Things are really fucking good, because there's homemade chocolate sauce smeared on his lips, across his chest and currently being lapped out of his belly button, which kind of tickles but it's also en route to his dick so he's very excited about that.

Carmen pulls back from his now-clean belly button and reaches for the half-empty dessert bowl just as Sydney gives him another deep kiss that tastes like chocolate and something even sweeter. It's kind of overwhelming to be the center of their attention and adoration, being fussed over like plated food and devoured at the same time, and he finds it difficult to let them in—really let them in—even on a good day.

It doesn't help that they keep telling him nice shit, real sappy shit, except that it does help because it hurts but somehow it also makes him feel better about today. And then Carmy proceeds to give him a chocolately handjob that ends in a very messy blowie, all the while rubbing comforting circles on his inner thigh with his thumb, and Syd pinches his nipples just on the right side of too harsh and kisses him breathless until his toes curl and he replaces the taste of chocolate in Carmy's mouth with a flavor of his own.

After their shower (somehow Carmy ended up covered in almost as much sauce as him, the messy freak) they cuddle up in bed, placing him in the middle, and he tries to somewhat regain control of the situation, of all these feelings that they're making him feel, with their caring, with their seemingly endless understanding, and patience. And love.

"You guys are some real needy bastards, y'know that? Got absolutely no fucking chill. You're lucky I don't mind all that crap," he says, tearing up for the umpteenth time that night and grateful that nobody says a thing about it, they just hold him even tighter, until he can't tell where he ends and the others begin, and with that thought he drifts off to sleep.

Okay I need to go to bed desperately but I genuinely loved this ending for all three sides of royjamiekeeley. It really was perfect. Keeley breaking her familiar patterns and choosing to be single. Because she knows she can't get back together with Roy--despite still having feelings for him--when she still has feelings for Jamie as well. She may not know what to do about that yet, but she's trying to be better!!! she is!!!! She doesn't want to repeat her same cycles and rush into things and mess it all up again!!! Roy and the extremely loaded way he said to Jamie "I wouldn't want this to ruin our...friendship," not because he can't call Jamie his friend but because he knows they're past friendship at this point, they're something undefined but ever present and overpowering. Then backpedaling into jealously when Jamie didn't bend to his will, being downright mean when he threw his post-breakup/pre-makeup sex with Keeley in Jamie's face, but immediately recognizing the fuckup and choosing to be a Diamond Dog and talk to someone about it. It's messy, it's complicated!! but he's working on being a better person too!!! And then, Jamie's response to Roy's request/demand to "step down from the fight" with a simple "No." Allowing himself to fight for and ask for what he really wants for once. It was fucking hot.

Culminating in the two boys acting like idiots, fighting and then showing up at Keeley's door to "give her the honour" of choosing between them two dunderheads....of course Keeley had to kick them out on their asses! And they immediately went on a fucking date for kebabs!!

Finally (and i think this bit was part of the ~Ted plane dream~ so maybe this last scene is not relevant, I need longer to process lol) RoyJamie sitting chair to chair knee to knee with Phoebe in Keeley's lap. FAMILY. It was completely the perfect fodder for a beautiful ot3 slowburn and I will think about it with better words tomorrow but yeah. Thank you for getting this one thing right, show.

Enters 'Shiro look-a-like Cosplay' competition specifically to do the Worst Most Awful impression of Shiro, he also got the scar on the wrong side through makeup (its a coping mechanism leave him alone) If he and Shiro had a better relationship (and Shiro stopped being a bitch about the clone thing) they both would enter that competition and Kuron will win while Shiro will get last and Kuron doesn't know whether to laugh or cry or curl up in a corner and die

3. Fighting for his life anytime he gets a headache or a migraine. Constantly swinging between "it's just a headache! Haggar's dead! It's just a headache! Haggar's dead! It's just-" And "I am going to die"

a reason they suck-

Babygirl I know you are going Through it but you got to stop going behind your teams back and yell at them, Lotor was so not worth it.

Also is just so focused on being The Leader he forgot being Team Member

a reason they are great-

He's just trying so much???!?! Like he is doomed no matter what happened and he didn't even know it but he was still trying his best and he fought and tried to survive till his very last breath 🥺🥺🥺🥺 my boy he deserved better

a reason I relate to them-

I kinda don't? Relatability of a character isn't really my priority as much as studying them in a microscope is. If I had to I guess our tendency to not communicate well and be a bit snappish when stressed? The feeling of not being in control about anything in your life? Otherwise I can't think of any

(what I consider to be) the top tier otp/ot3 for that character-

I still think about toxic yaoi Kuron/Lotor that would never work and destroy them both btw if you even care

But also like screw romance give him as many friends as he wants

five things that never happened to that character that I believe should have happened-

Him getting to live

Him getting to live as his own person

Him getting to live as his own person in his own body

Him getting to live as his own person in his own body and not treated as Evil Shiro clone but a friend

Shiro fucking apologises to him (I know there are others who have done far FAR worse things to Kuron and Shiro has his own trauma and I like Shiro! But also listening to him being mean to my son no. 1 WHILE being mean about my tragic son no. 2 and all I could think of was, "Shut the fuck up forever actually bitch")

five people that character never fell in love with and why-

Again do I really have to answer this one?? Like can't we ignore all shipping fandom? Ugh fine

Haggar (for obvious reasons)

Zarkon (stated as above and in fact these two can be interchanged)

Sendak (sure Kuron hasn't actually met Sendak but he does have Shiro's memories and he sucks in all of them)

Iverson (because fuck him)

Slav (I don't hate Slav but I have to agree with people when they say that Slav and Shiro trigger each other's anxieties and trauma and this applies to Kuron as well)
