my episode 3 thoughts:

we are definitely missing like at least 60% of what’s going on yeah we’re getting rashomon’d

related: disney really continues to struggle with how to break season arcs into episodes, this would have been much better with some kind of framing device in the ‘present’ to anchor the flashback, it is otherwise just unmoored, and this was also my critique of Andor (as one of the like 5 people who didn’t love Andor) that they struggled with the structure of the season as a whole, it turns out that hiring a well-regarded tv writer doesn’t do the trick, this has to be something coming from above which is odd and this is my only coherent #critic thought

guy who got really obsessed with the path of the open hand while reading the phase II novels: I’m getting a lot of path of the open hand vibes from this

I would 100% be enjoying this more if I hadn’t had my brain steeped in like a decade of poisonous internet discourse, forgot my whole plan to (yes ironically) remove the locked tomb from my brain so I could experience it for the first time again, if I were given the opportunity to remove any one thing from my brain like it never existed it would be the built-up plaque of scorching hot takes that have me preemptively cringing at things I’d actually really be vibing with. I need a cleanse or something. Detox.

ETA in the morning, slightly more coherently: I did like this episode a LOT more than the first two. Like after the first two I was like ok let’s give them a chance to see where they’re going.
